Rows offense just kind of felt looked different on Saturday
as opposed to that Minnesota game. Obviously it had to
What did you see as the difference, as Sean well.

The biggest difference was they got the ball out of
Dilan Royal's hand when they threw a lot quicker. The
average time he held the ball in passing plays was
like two point two two seconds over the course of
the game, which was a huge difference from what we
had seen in terms of just how the routes and
how things played out. And I think you had to

go that way with the protection, but the other thing
you had to do with the sacks and the issues
they dealt with in Minnesota was run the ball more.
And Emma Johnson, I mean just on the first drive alone,
he had more second and third down touches on carries
on the ground than they had the whole game. And
you know, Emman had twenty seven carries. That was the

most of running backs Adam the Matt Rule era. So
there were a lot of things that jumped out, but
clearly the emphasis was to run the ball more. They
ran the ball over sixty percent at a time in
this game, which they had been throwing the ball over
sixty percent of the time. So a completely different kind
of attack and it worked in. Northwestern's kind of one

of those teams that you have to run on them
the way they play their safeties higher, and Nebraska took
advantage of that and got enough to win the game.

Yeah, obviously Northwestern's defense did not look like the Golden
Gophers defense. What kind of pass rush threat does USC
present for Saturday?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Well, yeah, they're going to be up there. I mean,
you know, technically, Minnesota didn't really have a good pass rush.
That was the anomaly of that game last week that
they did. There's a record breaking against the Nebraska team
that only ran about fifty six plays in the game
or fifty four plays. You know, on paper, Northwestern is
a better pass rushing team than Minnesota was, so they

had a different plan, just like they did against Maryland.
But yeah, USC has a lot of athlete It's a
lot of long, athletic guys. They've got a couple of
really big pieces in the middle nose tackles. This is
a better team. I mean this team hammered Michigan, that's
all you gotta know. I mean they they Michigan went
out there to play them, and they hammered them. So

they have the firepower and the type of talent you
know when they're on to beat anybody. Now, they lost
to Illinois on the road, and they lost a Notre
Dame on the roads. They've not been a good road team.
And looking at the temperature, guys, it looks like it's
gonna be up maybe be in the forties for this
game by Saturday night, So it's gonna maybe tilt favorably
more towards the Nebraska team in terms of the weather

conditions a little chilier probably than the LA guys are
used to, so they only every break they can get.
Being about a seven point underdog.

Well, Sean, our good friend Gary Sandelmeyer here is giving
a chili reception to Nebraska's hopes here because as a
big off defensive line guy, he's looking at another lineman
out Spindler has only got like two fingers left. I mean,
it's uh, but he.

Did he did a great He thought a lot of
heart and Rock Teddy Sean Teddy Man. Good lord, that
kid has put so much time and effort into this
program and so much of it in the rehab to
come back three times and now here we go again. Unbelievable.

Yeah, his leg just you could see it just gave
out on that play and that was the only sack
dail out all day and obviously it was his leg
gave out on him in that moment. And you feel
for Teddy and what he's been through the last five years.
And you know, they handed him the game ball in
locker room at the end of the game, and you know,
Teddy hadn't played really honestly for a couple of weeks

as well, so it's not like they've know he's over
kind of pushed it because he's not. It's just, unfortunately,
the wear and tear and the previous injuries he suffered
him is he's just not the same players we saw
in twenty twenty one. When he hit the field in
twenty twenty one, he held Aiden Hutchinson to no sacks, nothing,
and then he got hurt and he's never really obviously

never been the same and unfortunately went down again.

You know, I think I think Corkoran is a better
right tackle than he has a left tackle, and he
held up well, I thought Saturday when he came in,
because Gatula is not. He's battling an injury too, Sean Right.

Yeah, he's got some sort of knee injury. They didn't
get in the details of it, but he dressed but
was on the injury report, so they kept that one
close to the vest. But yeah, I thought the combination
of preaching in Corkoran ended up working out is fine,
especially getting rid of the ball from Ryle's hand. Quicker.
I mean, they're not letting Dylan just run around back there,

because I just don't think that's gonna work, especially if
no one's open. You know.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
One more thing that we don't talk about as Husker
fans after a win is how awful the officiating was
on satur today. Are we going to be able to
beat teams when they only have to get nine yards
for a first down?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Yeah? There were a few moments in that game, the
one where they called the defensive lineman for moving around
before the play and they got the.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Apparently you know.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
But yeah, but the spot on the first down. I
was on the fourth down play, I was you know,
I had a really good view from my seat. I Oh,
there's no way that he was way short. Evidently Troy
Dan and the rascus A D was down the sideline.
He absolutely was losing it down there. I guess like

you should have seen Troy he was. He was kidding it.
So you can bet that there's probably some calls made
right to Tony Pettiti.

From well and and from Brawn too, because Marshall had
the clear hole on their last offensive. It was not
a well officiated Hey, I gotta tell you, man, how
about Kenneth william I like that scholarship he did what
Shawn eighty five yard return against Maryland put him on

touchdown and that. But the combination of him and that
those special teams under Ectler, that's that that may have
been the game saver right there, all right?
