Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sports Brief Now the Husker Buzz edition with Sean Callahan
live in Lincoln. Jim Okay, Now, Sean, I got to
ask you this. Apparently the quarterbacks were wearing go Pro
cameras on their helmets in practice. Why would they have
go Pro helmets or cameras on their helmets?

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Well, I think for Dana Holgerson, particularly with something that
he picked up when he was at TCU during his
advising consultant days that Sonny Dykes did and it just
kind of allows him to see and he brought up
a good point what's going on in the huddle, Like,
as a coach, you can tell people what to do

(00:35):
and what to say, but you really can't kind of
see how it's being set because you're not in the
huddle when you're out there on the field. So I
think there's just some learning that you can gain out
of that. And if kids are understanding the play, who's
not And you know what the quarterbacks command of a
huddle looks like. So yeah, I think there's some benefits

(00:56):
to it. And it's just amazing the technology that they have.
I mean, they have a tied where they know what
every guy runs. Miles Prower every time they run in
a practice. I mean they have every I mean it's
like they're in a lab out there on the field
now where everything is tracked and monitored.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
That could be really great video, though, viral video. We're
right now, we're in Dylan Ryola's head. Okay, you know
you're seeing exactly what he's seeing if you look at
that go pro camera shot.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, and just how he commands a huddle too, I
mean that's just something you know. And you can see
the eyes of the other players, I mean because the
camera is looking right at them like you're Dylan looking
at them, or you're Jalen Graham stand or whoever the
quarterback might be.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Okay, let's talk about Justin Evans. We've got a lot
of question marks about the offensive line. It has been
okay the last few years, not great. Hasn't made a
ton of progress. Part of it has been the injuries.
But now Holgerson's talking about Junior Evans becoming one of
the Justin Evans becoming one of the better potential center candidates.
He's seen what's the status of that position and him, well,

(02:08):
he's played a lot.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Of football at Nebraska. He just hasn't had to play
center because have been Scott. But I think right now
things have moved in a really nice direction this spring
where I think they wanted to make sure that he
could do it and get the snaps there consistently and
be the guy they need, and he has been so

(02:29):
if I were a betting man, I think he is
your center. I think rock O Spindler's your right guard,
Eliza Pridze is your left tackle, and then from there
heading to Letowsky's going to play somewhere it could be
left guard or right tackle. And then from there, how
does Gunner Getula, Teddy Prohaska, and Turner Corcoran come back
when they're back and they kind of have to puzzle

(02:50):
the line after they figure that out. But I think
they have probably four of the five spots at least
in their minds kind of what direction they want to go,
and it's a matter for Donovan Ryola now puzzling together.
But Evans has been a nice development I think the
spring at the center position well.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
And the other big viral story yesterday involved former huscar
Michael Beaher who went to Missouri in the off season
out of the transfer portal. Is he back in the
portal now, and if so, is he coming back here?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
No, Mackay Bahar, Yeah, he would in the portal. He
basically he even gets spent enough time in Missouri to
enjoy the Ozarks and he got out of there quick.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Two weeks of spring practice and he's already back in
the portal.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah. I talked to somebody in Columbia yesterday I know
very well that covers the program, and he said they
got a guy back from the junior college ruling that
they did not expect, and then they got two younger
guys that had really good springs and he was about
fifth or six on their depth chart and the pecking
order of linebackers.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
So, with long story short, yet he's not coming back
to Nebraska. I mean they filled up, They've they've got
some really good linebackers. I mean Marquis Watson, Trent Is
gonna is going to be a dude, Vincent Shavers, Willis mcgahey,
you go down the line, Dawson Merritt, Christian Jones. I mean,
there's some very good young linebackers in this program and

(04:12):
they've just moved on at this point. Wasn't surprised. I mean,
I for one team I've heard to watch now for
Beyer though, is North Carolina with Bill Belichick that that
could be a landing spot. Florida State is not a
landing spot right now to my understanding. You know, that's
that's where Tony White's at. But he's got to do
not contact tag in the portal, so he's already made

(04:32):
his mind up where he is going.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yeah, he could be Rutgers because he was recruited hard
by uh those guys go out of high school and
narrowed it down to Nebraska Rutgers, but apparently not. All right,
Thanks Seana, We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
KA have to be Husker Info strong man Sewan Callahan
