Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sports Break Oscar Bos Edition with Sean Callahan Live and
like a Jim All.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Right now shout out. Let's visit first about injuries. Do
we have any update on the walking wounded.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
I'm trying to think, you know, Tommy Hill kind of
a pain threshold thing, how much pain can handle. I mean,
that's the that's the biggest one I think to watch. Obviously,
Jamin Wright got on the field last week. That was
a real positive for Nebraska at the linebacker spot. But
I think Hill is probably the biggest one. I'm just

(00:34):
trying to think, Jim, if I forgot anybody else, because
coach Rule is the only one that will address injury stuff.
The assistance yesterday don't really go They don't touch the
injury stuff. So we'll get another report from Rule on Thursday,
but again, coaches usually wait until the report comes out
on Saturday mornings now during the before the games.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, it's a very NFL style approach to injuries, and
that's mostly to accommodate the alers.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
The corcrun's out for the year, pretty much, we think.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah, no one has said but when Matt Rule said
severe hamstring, everyone is it took that as you know
that wasn't a two to three week deal because hamstrings
in general take a while. But would you throw the
word severe on there. That's not usually a good sign.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah, this usually means a tear. And that's that's pretty
much it for the year.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Now, Sierra Wright is a very interesting individual. This is
the transfer from USC. He's a good football player. We
saw him make some plays against Purdue. It's going to
be harder this week because the Rutgers is better. This
guy appeared in his first TV commercial at age seven
and has since. Actually, he's got seven acting credits to
his to his resume, including fifteen episodes on the ABC

(01:46):
series Grownish, which was a spinoff from Blackish. Why is
he playing football and not acting for a living?

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah, I asked him yesterday, I said, are you still
acting right now? I mean, he goes no, he's put
that on hold. Wants he wants to have a shot
to make the NFL. I think he wants to be
a football player. The acting will always be there for him.
In fact that I think if he props his football
career up, that would actually probably help his profile more
as an actor, you know, just doing some of the

(02:14):
things he's been able to do, but just a great personality.
He said. There's not a lot of acting opportunities in
Nebraska for me right now.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Slim Pickens he called it, slim Pickens.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Maybe he can maybe take over the good feed store commercials,
or him and Tommy Hill or something, just with all
the all the foot the footage. He said, Tommy Hill
mayb maybe there's some commercial opportunities, but I don't know,
some heating and air commercials or something.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Was the Johnny Carson Institute, which is actually a very
very respected part of the University of Nebraska academic profile.
This is the new Media Center and the Carson Foundation
funded at hundreds of millions of dollars. Was that an
incentive for him to come here? Did that have anything
to do with it?

Speaker 1 (02:56):
No?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I think football was. I mean the rain reason RASCA
didn't bring him in. Guys until June, he wasn't on
the radar. He left USC. Surprisingly, he had started over
twenty games there, played a lot, but the defense fell
apart there. He lost his playing time last year and
you know, left the program last year and won the

(03:17):
portal late. Nobody really knew what he was going to do,
and then he just came on his visit in June
to Nebraska, fell in love with the place and showed
up here the same day Tony Butler did our John
Butler showed up here the new secondary coach of Nebraska,
and they both arrived on the same day. And so
he's an't Actually he was a top one hundred recruit too.

(03:39):
I mean, if you go through the back end of
Nebraska's defense, he was the most taluted and most highly
recruited player and that group of players on the field
by far. Really, I mean, he was almost a five
star level talent. And he's played like it. I mean,
he's got He leads the team in pass breakups. He
has more pass breakups than the rest of the starting

(04:00):
has combined this year. So he's only given up around
forty yards receiving, I believe in the time he's played.
So he's done an excellent job with his ball skills
and has gotten more comfortable. And now the discussion is
when Tommy Hill returns, can you play them both out there?
Would somebody else potentially get moved out of the starting lineup?

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Hey sean about a minute ago, any any big nuggets
out of the coordinators yesterday?

Speaker 3 (04:26):
There it is all pretty locked in. I mean, Marcus
Saderfield and we talked, talked for about four minutes yesterday.
It was one of the shorter sessions you'd get out
of him. And you know, I think that the story
for the defense is Kyle a money guy in the
running back and limiting what he can do the Rutgers
running back. They know their game plan. Guys. The heat's
going to be a factor. To ninety five degrees three

(04:49):
o'clock kick, Rutgers is going to be on that hot
grill sideline there on the east and that would be
really the first time since Nebraska's made this move to
the West the opposing team is going to get that
hot sun on them, at least for the first half
of the game. So you know, the heat is going
to definitely be a factor, or the stadium medical workers

(05:10):
could have their hands full of just dealing with eighty
six thousand and ninety five degree weather in October.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah, they're talking record heat maybe for Saturday. Sean. Thanks
