Speaker 1 (00:00):
The sports breef, Now this would be the Husker buzz edision. Well,
Sean Callahan live and Len Rosie. All right, Sander and Seana.
We've talented up all of the data associated with his game,
and this is what we've landed on. If Nebraska plays
with eleven guys on offense and defense, they'll cover.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
No And I do think there's going to be an
emphasis in this game guys to to make sure Dylan
Royla does get some work. I mean, he needs kind
of one of those big stat days too. I know
you want to play young guys, but for just the
growth and development of kind of what you want to
do with Dana Holders in this offense, it wouldn't be
nice to see Dylan go for three point fifty or

(00:38):
something that can just let him go off and let
him throw some deep balls and kind of get get
into a rhythm, you know, because we don't really he
hasn't had that many of those chances in his career
to do that. And he had games like this early
in his career in Northern Iowa and U Tip and
he was solid, but you know, I'd like to see
him kind of turn down loose a little bit, tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah, at least for a half. But you know it's
that's an opportunity this week and next week to get
TJ latif some snaps. He's the number two. This is
the true freshman quarterback. This is the guy that you're
one twisted ankle, you're one busted knee or one bad
shoulder away from being on the field against Michigan or USC.
It'll be nice to get him in there. And the
other issue, of course, with any game against an undermanned

(01:18):
opponent is don't get these people hurt. Football is still
a game of collisions, and Akron will collide with Nebraska tomorrow,
so try not to get these guys hurt.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah, you know, last week was a physical game for
Nebraska in a lot of respects. I mean, and you know,
luckily Jacry Barney's bounced back with a good week of practice,
but Matt rule hinting already that his workload would be
a little limited. Matt Ruhle did also say yesterday that
Gunner Getula would get the start again at left tackle
over Elijah Prichett and turn at Corcoran, so that's notable

(01:51):
again this week. He also praised Vincent Shavers, who by
the way, didn't have a black shirt in week one.
I don't know if he has one in week two.
They don't really promote that as well anymore, as far
as knowing who if they changing anything out. But he said,
Vincent Shaver's up the level of our practice. Along with
Jacorey Barney. Those two guys are kind of the tone
setters in practice from Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
All right, we want to get your keys to the game.
But then I want to ask you about the transfer
portal vote yesterday in the Football Committee overside committee for
the NCAA. But what are the keys to the game
from Sean Callahan tomorrow?

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Well, I mean the quick key. I think pace, rhythm, tempo.
On offense, I mean finished drives. I think that's a
big thing. Twenty points week one. I know no one's
happy with that. That has to happen. Defensively, assignment football,
play your keys, player reads, get off blocks, you know,
don't don't play hero ball, and take a step forward
as a unit. Get off the field, be ready for

(02:45):
some different elements. Though Joe morehead former Penn stade O
c former Mississippi State head coaches, the head coach of accurates,
I've got a pretty accomplished guy on their sideline who's
actually beaten Matt Rule before when he was the head
coach of Fordham and he beat him at Temple. And
then you know again, the atmosphere, it's gonna be a
magical night light show, beautiful weather, beer on hand in

(03:08):
the stadium, or a football game for the first time ever.
It's gonna be a great night. Guys.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
It's not just beer though, They've got cocktails up there
in the club lounge.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
That's it. We know how much? What about the concession stands, Sean,
do we know? Are they doing just beer? Oh?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah, the concession levels will have just beer. And then
I do believe there's like a Seltzer option to in
the concession level. But Gary, you don't strike me as
a selter.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Now are you gonna do we have a price? Do
we have a price chart on how much a draw
is gonna be?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
And fourteen it's all sixteen outs cans. I forget eight bucks,
nine bucks, I forget what the price is, same as
what you pay at like PBA, nothing different than that.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Now, the Football Oversight Committee voted to narrow the transfer
window to ten days in January. If this happens and
it takes effect this coming January. What does that mean
in your view?

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Well, it really changes things. But it helps you manage
your money better because having two portal windows now with
a tight rep share cap, it's hard to manage, like,
how do you decide how much money to hold back
for April? So this allows you to kind of manage
your numbers a lot more and you don't have to
worry about it. You don't have to worry about now
about a spring game now, people poaching your roster and

(04:30):
things like that. But December will be completely dead, no
coaches on the road, straight Bowl, straight playoff preparations. January
there'll be a ten day window and that will be it.
You won't be able to transfer after this whole ten
day window, and then it will kind of help teams,
you know, focus on their team then and have a

(04:50):
better handle on their finances because that's obviously a big
part of the game.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Now, will it affect other sports or is this just
for football?

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Now?

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Oh, this is just a football window, and it would
be set up just to kind of help the playoff.
I mean, it's not a good thing when you have
players going to the portal like the week of a
semi final game.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
This is actually a really good step forward for stabilizing
college football, and I hope it happens the Administrative Committee
votes on it in October. All right, Chano, try to
stay off the beers tomorrow. You have work to do
at the game.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Okay, guys, all.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Right, so yep, so your keys are stay on schedule,
get pimpball, get off Riola, some some reps and some work,
finished drives, finished drives and all that. Who are there
any individuals before we run here? Any individuals you particularly
are looking to see big improvement from from game one.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Marquise Watson Trent I think left a lot to be
desired in his first game. Would love to see him.
And Elijah Judy needs to play better. I mean he
had a rough nine and arrowhead. I mean, those those
two guys on defense, they need they need a couple
more of those front seven guys to play at a
better level. In my opinion, Riley Van Poppol will be
in that camp too.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
All right. You'll have your production when you're on with
Emory PM Buzz today and you've got a book signing tomorrow, right, Yeah, book.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Signing tomorrow at the Nebraska Bookstore. Well, I'll believe it'll
be there three thirty to four thirty. So if you're
milling around campus, come say hi.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
You're gonna have a buy one, get one free bud
like coupon.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
The university they're in charge of this thing and they
need the money right now. We're not giving them any
deal for every book.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
You gotta buy one, get one free coupon out.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Of the stadium. Actually true. Sean Callahan our Husker Insider,
