Speaker 1 (00:00):
At six forty seven here on Nebraska This morning news
time for the Husker Buzz, Sean Callahan, Jim Rose, Okay,
thanks Scott, so Shanaut Here we go. Dilan Realda is
in the transfer portal. He didn't say anything. He hasn't
made any big public announcements. Typically they will go on
social media to announce this. He has not. The question
becomes why is that? Why is that he has not

(00:22):
made that announcement in your view? Why is that the case?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Well? On instag Graham, he initially did like a story
where he quoted or did a quote story on the
report kind of acknowledging it. But then he pulled it down,
so that was the only thing on his in it
He did any acknowledge him. But it's obviously happening, and
I think he's probably trying to together what he wants

(00:47):
to say and what his next move is going to be.
But yeah, he's out of Lincoln. I mean, he's his
things were cleared out yesterday and it happened and ended
pretty abruptly, and you know, for being honest, I think
we all knew this is probably the direction things were going.
It just you know, took to this point to get there.
And I said on our show yesterday, I would have

(01:09):
been shocked to see him in Vegas. It just didn't
feel like he was going to make it this far
where he'd be on that plane even on December twenty sixth,
to be with this team in Vegasy. If he was
going to leave, it was going to play out about
this time, especially when classes are winding down right now.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
You and l Yeah, did he finish his finals? Try
not to laugh at that too hard out.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, when here In takes finals anywhere, and all my
interns and guys I work with, they never have finals.
I mean they might have one or two here or there,
but it's it's funny, you know. Finals week was a
much bigger deal. I feel like when we were in school.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah, and people wonder why businesses aren't hiring college graduates. Okay,
but Sean out you said, we all could see this coming,
and I think you're right, based on his parents stopping
construction of their home that they were building in Lincoln,
his brother d committing from the class, the recruiting class,
his uncle getting fired. You know, connect the dots. But

(02:05):
what's the problem. What was the falling out? Why is
it the Dylan Royalo who's doing three and a half
million a year in nil money, and I wouldn't wouldn't
have to compete for the job. Why why not Nebraska anymore?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
That's the thing. I think he would have had to
compete for the job. I mean, I think Nebraska with
latif for the possibility of bringing somebody else in as well,
it wasn't just guaranteed he'd roll back into that thing.
And I think when Matt rule If, he would probably
tell you having a quarterback of mobility moving forward is
going to be important. I just think it's very hard

(02:41):
to win in the in the college football if you
don't have mobility. And you know, you go back to
the game against Michigan with seven sacks, the Minnesota game
with nine sacks, those were key moments in the season
where any type of mobility maybe maybe those games feel
and look a little bit different. But when your quarterback's
not much of a runner, I mean, you're gonna have

(03:01):
record sac games like we saw there. And I just
think going forward, they they said it's time, we're probably
gonna go in a different direction and it'll be interesting,
now guys what Nebraska does, because they do have a
lot of money to go out and get somebody. I
don't think it's as simple as TJ's the guy. I
do think they're going to go out and go after
somebody in the portal to bring in. Whether it's an

(03:24):
equal to TJ. Latif made the best man win, or
a very big name guy, if it makes sense.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Seems to me that if you look at the guys
that are in the portal so far, you got Sam
Levit at Arizona State, Brandon Sorosby at Cincinnati and I
think Nebraskans would love to have him here, and DJ
Langway at Florida. Number one, they're gonna want big money,
and number two, they're not gonna want to compete for
the job. So are we going back into that vortex
of giving people jobs or do you go to a

(03:51):
backup guy like a Kenny Minche at Notre Dame or
a Zane Flores and say, Okay, we're gonna pay you something,
but you got to compete for the job.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah, I don't see me us because he's not a
mobile guy. I do think they want someone that can
run a little bit too. But yeah, like Caiten Howser's
a name of East Carolina thirty three hundred yards nineteen
touchdowns this year, former Michigan State quarterback. He's another one
Aiden Childs winning and that's going to keep growing. But yeah,
quarterback competitions with two good quarterbacks are rare. Now you

(04:22):
just don't see. I mean, especially in this portal era,
the financial commitment you would have to get to get
one of these guys. It is challenging to say, all right,
we're gonna but how will a bowl game play out?
For TJ. Latif is also a big part of this
because all of that's going to happen before January. Tewond
so what if Latif just balls out and leads to

(04:43):
Nebraska a great win over Utah and upset win, then
I think maybe the conversation is different. But if they
struggle and it's three losses in a row for Latifa,
I think we kind of know where the state could
be heading, and.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Then who knows, maybe TJ goes into the portal. The
next question is, and you said this week could go
and I think you're one hundred percent right, Shoano. Power
for quarterback jobs are rare, So where is Dylan Ryalda
going to go? They're talking about Oregon, Well, is Dante
more for sure going to be gone from Oregon? Where
is Dylan Rylda going to go? Given that he can't move,
He's coming off a leg injury, and his statistics were

(05:18):
not eye popping against good teams.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah, I saw the report out of Oregon, and and
just from what we've heard, it doesn't seem I don't know.
I think Oregon they prefer a mobile quarterback too there,
And I don't know if that's a slam done guarantee,
but I know he wants to go somewhere that's obviously
a playoff contending type program. I mean it's wide open.

(05:42):
I mean there's nobody definitively that's jumped out as far
as a realistic landing spot, and you know they're they're
now out there, you know, trying to figure this out.
The Ryles didn't have an agent either, so I don't
know if they're going to get one now, but they
had been operating kind of as their own agent and
not too so. When you go through a process like this,
when you're gonna have to deal with all these different teams,

(06:06):
there's a lot that can happen here and a lot
that can play out still in the next week or two.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah, he may find out that the grass looks greener
on the other side of the fence, but it really isn't,
especially if Iowa State is the place that he lands.
Who knows. It's a challenge for him, and I would
be very surprised if he goes to a program that
is higher than Nebraska. Right now, they just don't need him. Okay,
big guy, Thanks, We'll talk to you tomorrow.
