Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sports Brave Update at the Husker Buzz edition with our
Big Red insider Sean Callahan live and Lincoln Hennon for
Jim Rose here Scott Wies.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Gary, I was wondering this morning when we were first
going to hear from someone who stayed up all night
watching all eighteen innings of that World Series game, and
here we are. Sean, you six hours and thirty nine minutes,
you did the entire thing.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Yeah. For me, I'm a chief fan of the Dodgers.
Was like the night of a twelve year old Sean
Callahan's dream. I don't know if my mom and dad
would let me stay up, but I committed to it.
I was like, after the sixteenth inning, I left my
base and I watched the last few innings from my
phone in bed. I had to be quiet when Freddy
(00:41):
hit that one out. But unbelievable that, I mean they had.
I don't know if you guys noticed, but the picture
for the Dodgers that through Saturday, he was up to go.
He was going to come in and again and throw.
On Monday they were down to no pictures.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yamamoto was coming in. That was a world Series record.
Ten pitchers used by LA last night will clinb with
the victory. There's your sports brief, and the Chiefs won too,
as Sean Callahan knows. You also know, Sean, and I
guess this is the reason why you're here. What Matt
Ruhle had to say yesterday, especially looking at the significance
of playing football in November.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, for Nebraska, you know, they'd gotten through a three
and one October. You know, two years ago they were
three you know in October that was one of their
first undefeated Octobers in years. But now it's about November
and he's he's told his team not how important that
is to finish this month. Since he's been the head
coach at Nebraska, they've only won one November game. And
(01:41):
you know, you've got four very tough games, probably the
toughest November stretch in terms of the road ahead that
they've ever played, with USC and Iowa and Penn State
on the road and then obviously UCLA on the road.
And this is a much more difficult trek than what
they've seen. And you know they've got a chance on
I love seeing that forecast. Guys get down to the
low forties for the game. Now, I think that's gonna help.
(02:04):
It's eighties and nineties right now in La, So it's
gonna be a little bit of a shock for the
Trojans when they get in this weather this week.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
You would think I feel like Bob Ucker right now.
One game, one, gosh darn game, that's all Matt rule
is one in November. It was last year against Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Correct. Yeah, his first year, he was zero four. They
were favored in two of those games slightly, and they
were underdog and too, they could have won all fours
first year. If you remember Maryland, Iowa, Wisconsin, you go
down Michigan State, they lost all four and then last
year Iowa they could have won obviously, and then they
figured out the Wisconsin game to get it done. But
(02:43):
so this is a big month that can kind of
define the season. With a six and two record, I
don't know if Nebraska, maybe Ucla, they're favored in Iowa
looks like a toss up right now, and you see
Penn State, there'll be an underdog out there more than likely.
So this is a big one of their underdog miss game.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yeah, I'm looking at uh excuse me, Scott, I just
look at it could be down by the time that
game ends, uh Saturday night shot. It could be touched
in the thirties as possible.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
And they don't play in weather like that if you
if you remember when even when they played Notre Dame,
it's always set up where Notre Dame comes out there
late in the year and when they play in south
Man it's early in the year. So this is one
of the rare times you get the Trojans in somewhat
big ten weather. Yeah you got, you got. I mean,
it's gonna be a good it's gonna be and it's
gonna be a night game. So hopefully some of those
(03:36):
intangibles factoring in this game.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
So Sean is one of the big tangibles is the
injury report. You know, who's going to be on the
field here for Nebraska. What do we learned yesterday from
coach Well, the big.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Thing remains the offensive line gunner Getula knee injury remains questionable.
Turner Corker will probably start it right tackle. I mean,
that's probably the most significant one. And to keep tabs on.
But you know, Teddy Prohoska is out for the season,
his career, more than likely the ACL knee injury that
(04:09):
he suffered his third major knee injury he's had as
a corn Husker. So he just feel for Teddy that
that's now official on his injury. But it doesn't get
I don't have a good feeling about gun or playing.
It just doesn't seem like it's going to happen. And
probably had a factor in his four sacks he gave up,
you know, back in that Minnesota game.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
All right, Sean six point thirty, Dylan Rolo wants everyone
to wear black.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Yeah, what's that? Oh, just one of those things.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah, black guy, black guy got.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
He'll be wear red.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah. Well, actually, so, any about any other significant injury
news from Matt yesterday?
Speaker 3 (04:48):
No, nothing, I mean of major significance. You know, Luckily,
they're in pretty good shape. I mean, Dylan's taking a
few hits. He's obviously held up this year, but he
had nothing major, thankfully at this point of the year,
other than that offensive line that they're just kind of
trying to battle their way through. And they did a
good job last week with the game plan, I thought.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
