Speaker 1 (00:00):
Speaking of Sean Gallaham, let's go to sports Breed now
the Husker Buzz edition, Sean Live and Likenkelnrosie.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
All right, Sean O.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
There's not a lot to say about a game against
Akron where you play one hundred and eight guys and
you're up thirty three to nothing at the half, and
then you got Houston Christian, which is basically a Bible
college ten years ago.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
They'll be in here on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
The thing that's buzzing around Nebraska football today, other than
the lingering frustration over concession stands protocols, is this viral
video of Rule at halftime of the game. He was
he was yelling at these guys like they were down
thirty three to.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
Nothern the the leaked video, which you get the set,
I think Nebraska leaked it out there. Rule leaked it
out there, Yeah, just to kind of give an idea
that he wasn't full of smoke, but yet they you know,
he wasn't happy with just maybe the effort to end
that half, and there were some things you wanted to
challenge his players with, and he wanted to get the

(00:56):
rest of the players an opportunity to play in that game,
and starters went nearly three quarters and the backups got
probably a you know, fifteen eighteen minutes of playing time,
three touchdown drive to the number two offense. So they
got what they wanted out out of the day itself.
But I think we're real smart enough to now, look,
they gave up. They gave up nearly four yards per

(01:18):
carry on fifteen first down runs in the game. I mean,
so they're not the finished product, especially on defense. We
know that. And you know who's coming in here, and
you know, you got USC for example, leading the nation
and scoring at this point. I haven't played anybody, but
when we look at Michigan's offense, you know what they're
going to be able to do. So there are some
big challenges ahead, and then the rule recognizes that you

(01:41):
got it. You got to improve what needs to be
fixed before you get to those games.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Yeah, and that's that's right there.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
The million dollar question, or in the case of college sports,
the billion dollar question, can you really improve your personnel.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
After the first three or four weeks?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
And the answer typically has been null, and that is,
if Nebraska can't stop the run by the third week,
it's not going to stop the run.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
All year.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Michigan is a very physical football team. Now, that was
a war down in Norman on Saturday night. That was
two Giants banging into each other for sixty minutes. But
they're not the only one. I was watching Michigan State,
I was watching Minnesota. I was watching teams that are
that are going to run the ball to Nebraska Sean.

(02:24):
So we got to find a way to stop the run.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Right, And you know, the secondary has been excellent. They're
one of the top passing defenses in the country over
the first two weeks. But if you can't get the
third down or they have to throw, it doesn't really matter.
So I do think most people are smart enough. Yeah,
if we're giving up four yards per first down play
on runs against Akron, you know that's got to improve. Me.
A year ago that number was probably half that. You know,

(02:51):
with tie in Nationals guys, they could dominate first down runs.
And you know, when you get to these games in
October and November, if you can't in those early rundown plays,
you know, big ten offensive coordinators can pick up third
and two's for breakfast. I mean that's nothing for him.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, you know, we don't. We're not very big up
from we got too. You need you need at least
one big fat guy right in the middle for a
great defensive line, really, you know, and not that hut
Maker was do.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
You know what I mean? You needed Corleone in there.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, and uh but I mean, you know, Judy's three
hundred pounds and Van Popple's two ninety five. But man,
the other ones are pretty pretty against the big ten
o line. Sean. I want to ask to speaking offensive lines,
did you get the snap counts between Gatula and Corkoran
and Pritchett from Saturday night?

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yeah, Well, the Tula was out there with the ones
the whole way and then they switched and Pritchett came
in in the second half, so it's undetermined you know
why you didn't get in the first half. But Corkoran
actually played some tied end, so they'd created a new
position for him where they rowed up the left side

(04:01):
or the right side or him and linnen Meyer lined
up next to Getula, and this they just said, the
hell of that. We're going to overload that side with
two left tackles and a tight end. And I think
they're trying to get a little bit more of a
physical edge presence there with those guys, and it worked
to be. Some of the big runs came on those
those plays them. But we'll see what I.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Like that the Bears were doing that last night, just
so you know, they're not going to turn Turner Corcoran
into Travis Kelsey. Okay, I mean he's not going to
be running routes, uh, you know for the rest of
the season. And they had Cam limhard and there at
fullback on that fourth and short or that that short
dive in the second quarter. I believe it was on
the one yard line. So yeah, they're they're they're going

(04:45):
with the big boys to try and just move people
down the field, which is against Akron shouldn't be hard.
That was just not a physical football team.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Sean just half of them and left any other nuggets
from Matt yesterday or Matt Ruhle.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
No, I just think eleven and game. Getting your team
up this week will be the challenge. After back to
back primetime games, light shows and now now you're Houston
Christian at eleven am, I mean that's a coaching challenge.
Get your guys focused and up for a game like this.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
All right, man, Fraternity Row will still be asleep at
the way Sean Callaan twice a day with a buzz
