brings in Terry Brendan from Kansas City the Chiefs to
be defensive line coach. How's this going to work? If
Snow is the associate head coach, doesn't he trump Butler
on the flow chart?

Well, I think he's gonna have a voice and a
role kind of kind of like what they've been using
him for in his advisor role now. But look, I
think John Butler when he took this job, that was
kind of a plan all along. We had we'd set
this in the summer that if and when that day
came Tony White left, that got an internal guy in

place in John Butler. I think the fear for a
lot of Husker fases, we really didn't get to know
John Butler, you know, we talked to him one time
in the media. And the secondary had its ups and
downs this year with different injuries and things. They battled through,
So there just wasn't a lot on John Butler. He
kind of kept a low profile, and now he's going
to move into obviously a really high profile role as

the defensive coordinator. But when you go back to when
he was brought in in July, I mean, this is
kind of what we speculated why he was brought in
to replace him, and then now you line him up
next to Phil Snow kind of the brain trust, the
guy that Matt Rules leaned on. I mean, he was
the defensive coordinator in the ninety six Arizona State Nebraska game.

gets my attention. He's eight years now with the Chiefs,
in his eighth season, highly respected coach in that organization
as an assistant D line coach, viewed as an up
and comer. I think he's real cool. To get him
out of there, and he's going to play a big
role in recruiting Dawson. Merritt's father works for the Chiefs,

so you don't you wonder what kind of role he
played in this discussion. Nebraska also has Jamar Mosi on staff,
the former top high school football coach in Kansas City. Well,
guess what his former five star williams now Arney just
one in the transfer portal from Missouri defensive defensive end.
So you gotta wonder if Terry Braden at least knows
and has a connection with with Wiams Nawarney being in

Kansas City the last eight years.

the transfer portal and who made that decision because Lane
Keffn and coaches are bitching about it this morning.

Well, the rules committee, I mean, they've come up with
the windows and how they do it, and the windows
are basically set to allow players to have time to
enroll in January. You've got to give them December to
have the opportunity to land at a new institution in January.
And that's why it's such a mad rush right now everywhere.
