Speaker 1 (00:00):
On a sports breath now Huskar Buzz edition with our
Big Red insider Sean callahyann Live, I've been licking Rosie.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Okay Shawana. Here's Northwestern and this is going to boil
down to just how much you go Nebraska's coaching staff
has because as you pointed up in your on three
Husker Online preview of Northwestern, and it's spot on, this
team can rush the passer, but it can't stop the run.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Yeah no, it's you know, Northwestern has good pass rushers
and what scary gym is they run the football Well,
they're averaging four yards per carry after contact. So it's
going to require elite tackling by Nebraska in this game
to win up front and get things done on defense.

(00:44):
But yeah, this that I think all eyes for Nebraska
two are going to be on these tackles, Elijah Pritchett, Gunner,
Gatula and whatever they decided to go with, because that
was the story last week. I mean, Nebraska giving up
nine sacks. Four of them came from the left tackle side,
some of them more from the running back protection issue.

(01:04):
But this will be interesting to how Dama Holgerson comes out.
There has to be more of an emphasis on the run.
I would be shocked if him at Johnson doesn't get
at least twenty carries in this game.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I'm thinking, if he doesn't get twenty five carries in
this game, then somebody needs to lose their job because
this is clearly ego then or there is some sort
of for lack of a better description, emphasis on Dylan
Royono's passing numbers, because everything points to a run heavy
game plan in this game. For Nebraska football. The other

(01:36):
thing is Northwestern doesn't get a lot of turnovers. The
best way to get a turnover is to throw the
ball forty times, especially if there's a breeze, and there
might very well be a breeze on Saturday, a stiff breeze.
So this is all about maybe a two tight end lineup,
maybe even a two back set from time to time.
But get the ball to number twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Five right and you know it's going to be one
of those games I think where Northwestern try to run
a lot nebrask and he's to run more than what
we've seen. Northwestern has also been very turnover prone as well.
Peyton Stone throws a lot of interceptions. He's fumbled the
ball five times as well. They have not forced a
turnover in two games. As a defense. That has to

(02:17):
be something we see where they get back to, you know, putting,
you know, getting the ball and forcing turnovers. Because this
is an opportunity this week where peyton Stone is going
to give you chances. I mean, be Preston Stone. He's
got seven picks on the year and he's fumbled the
ball on the ground five times.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Four of those came in the first game against Tulane.
Your point is well taken. He does have trouble with
the ball. He was very, very good at SMU in
twenty twenty three, had an injury in twenty twenty four,
wasn't going to play, so he came to Northwestern. But
he looked like ten miles of bad road in that
opener against Tulane. And I'm thinking, this guy is not
a Division one quarterback. But he's only had three sins.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah, he's got fifteen turnover worthy play and it doesn't
necessarily mean that a turnover happened, but he puts himself
in exposed situations is the key where you know, last
week on the flip side, Drake Lindsay at Minnesota he
only had four turnover worthy passing plays on the whole year,
So there is going to be opportunities and they've got

(03:19):
to you know, get there. But you have to win
on the rundowns because they're they're going to try to
run the ball sixty percent of the time. I mean
they're averaging about forty runs a game Northwestern, which you know,
Nebraska's tailbacks only had sixteen runs to put it in
perspective last week at Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
In your opinion, which of their players could start at Nebraska?
I see one for sure, Robert Fitzgerald, their fine safety.
But other than that, of their starters, who would win
a starting job at Nebraska for them.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Well, Michael Kilbain, the defensive end, you know, is a
you know, big time guy off the edge for them.
He's six five, he's two seventy five. You know. Sokka
is another guy that's a pretty good edge player. I
would say their edge players are two of their better
players right now when you look at what they've done defensively.

(04:10):
But they're running backs. I think, you know, they have
a collection of running backs, but they've got a few
good ones. You know, Cam Porter's been there. It feels
like for ten years and he's back again for them.
But he's one of four or five they'll play in
this game. They've got a huge advantage at depth of
the running back position. When you look at how many

(04:31):
guys they have, one, two, three, four, They have four
backs guys that have twenty three or more carries on
the year, So they do a very good job of distributing,
and not just their number one and two guy, but
they've got a third and a fourth guy though they'll roll.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
In there too, all right, Sean, thanks and tomorrow the
