The average rate for home insurance in Texas rose by
twenty one percent last year, with Houston the most expensive
region in the state. Rich Johnson with the Insurance Council
of Texas says, there are multiple factors at play.

Because of the weather events, the frequency and severity that
we're seeing, there's more of a risk insurance companies are
taking on. And then you couple that with inflation and
the cost of real estate going up. You know, the
costomer homes are going up, so therefore it's more to.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Ensure and if you can't get home insurance, the state
offers the Texas Fair Plan Association as a backup for
those who are denied coverage by at least two companies.
