The President this week suggested the time may be right
to take government mortgage lenders of Fannie May and Freddie
mac Public Texas realtor Cliff Freeman says the President should
tread carefully. Is Fanny and Freddy are important backstops for
the market.

the world, and it's because of the secondary market, which
is what Fanny and Freddy primarily support.

He notes that removing government backing from those programs could
cause interest rates to rise, but it wouldn't have a
