At approximately eleven o three, weare here to confirm Danny's Sprinkle. Come
on down. It does say welcometo Montlake on there, and I guess
this is our biggest official right headlinesbrought to you by Benya Kings dot Com
and Buddy's Goodies and Glass Always fourtwenty don't forget coming up on that date.

(00:20):
So we just learned out here abouta few minutes ago, Danny Sprinkle
confirmed by the Huskies named the twentiethhead men's basketball coach for Washington, taken
over from Utah State. It's quiteI guess it's not the biggest surprise.
It's just who made this decision,Like who did the hiring, just considering
that Dannon is out in scarlet andcream now in Nebraska, so that is

(00:45):
their official school colors. By theway, I wasn't making any weird youth,
but we all know how three toseven is going to go now.
I mean, good for them,at least they've had a lot of fun
news to have. Jedfish Danny Sprinklewas one of the most highly after coaches
who was out there. But let'sget to the rest of the headlines first.
Another really and this one kind ofstabs in my soul a little bit.

(01:07):
It's not so surprising that Kyle Smithhas left Washington State. It surprised
me so much where he accepted ajob where he is the new head coach
of Stanford. That broke just thismorning, and you know, right after
winning the final PAC twelve Coach ofthe Year award. John Wooden is probably
turning in his grave to hear mesay that. And it's just so sad.

(01:30):
It just I wasn't I felt likewe were playing with house money on
Saturday when they were playing Iowa State. I wasn't heartbroken by the loss.
I really did think that they foughthard against a defense of stoleworth that they
are, but it just they hadto be perfect and they were less than.
Yeah, I think this means dowe finally get a Stanford tree on

(01:52):
the voicemail now coming up at eleventhirty, I just would like to saw
to the background. Now. Ihave nothing but love for Kyle Smith.
It you know, if I don'thave the details of his contract quite yet,
but it makes sense that he movedon to what is probably just a
better job because we do know hiswife having been from Washington the Eastern side

(02:14):
of the state as well. Heloves it here. Pullman was a great
place for him. So this iswhat coaches do. They make choices for
themselves and their family. There's gotto be a Stanford Tree here looking to
get on the voicemails. Here heis thirty tab that iHeart on the iHeart
appp tab that microphone thirty seconds togive us your best voicemails coming up at

(02:36):
eleven thirty crack and lose five toone to Montreal. Last evening, the
Canadians scored four goals in the firstperiod, spelling an early endo Philip Grubauer's
night four goals on six shots.Joey to court to go over the crack
and winless now in eight consecutive games. Game two of the four game homestand
tomorrow night against the Anaheim Ducks.Seven o'clock puck drops, six thirty airtime

(02:57):
Emerald Queen Casino, Crack and AudioNetwork Golfson ninety three three kJ r of
them. I'll be down there,Everett al as well on the call.
Well, we do have Aaron,Yeah, he just jumped. Is on
the line, Aaron, how areyou eron Levine enjoying Mike Betton and Jessaman
McIntyre. How are you, Bud. I'm doing great. All this Stanford
talk is so refreshing. Guys. It's not awkward for you. I don't

(03:22):
think it's one one iota awkward. It's it's definitely awkward. Came up this
weeknd H. I'll say this becauseI tweeted it earlier. You can blame
Stanford Athletic director Bernard Muir for thisone simply because you know, I love
Bernard as a person, but hedoes not have the heart to fire underperforming
coaches when they need to be fired. And he did this a few years

(03:45):
ago with David Shaw. He neverfired him on time, and he was
many many years late on firing JaredHaas. If he does that on time
a couple of years ago, thenyou guys aren't in this position. Jessman
talking about Washington State and having ajob opening. This was a domino effective
sorts because had he actually fired Hasslast year, who was available Stanford alum

(04:06):
Mark Madson instead, Madchen goes tocal Stanford hated rival, and now we
have Kyle Smith coming to Stanford insteadand just makes it even more awkward.
Now even more awkward I'll say this, you know, as a Stanford fan,
I'm happy with the hire. Kyle'snot just a great coach, but
he's a great person too. Heshoots you straight, he's a personal guy,

(04:30):
and he's going to fit in atStanford really well. I mean he's
got the Ivy Week experience of Columbia. He's also a really smart guy.
I remember I reminded him last week. We had him on as part of
our trivia challenge during the pandemic andhe was by far the best contestant we
had. I mean, this guy, Remember, he's like a vault when

(04:51):
it comes to information. So I'mkind of excited to have him in Palo
Alto. How soon can they bea tournament team though, I don't know,
And that's the big question there.I Mean people have asked why wouldn't
it be better to stay at WashingtonState because it's probably going to be easier
to compete in the West Coast Conference, albeit Gonzaga is there, but as

(05:12):
opposed to going to Stanford, whereyou're gonna have to go across the country
and now compete in the ACC,which is one of the top basketball conferences
in the country. So it's goingto be tough, but I'm curious to
see what he does there. Eron, you're being a little too nice here,
Aaron Levine joining us. I feellike you're not gloating. But that's
not really a Stanford thing, isit. No, I mean, I

(05:35):
think it's it's just exciting. Ithink it's more relieving than anything because Jared
Hass needed to be fired so manyyears ago. And I was at Stanford
when Stanford was good at men's basketball. I mean, we weren't very good
at football at the time, butMike Montgomery had Stanford perennially as a top
ten team in the country. Andthat's what I've been used to, or
I had been used to for solong, and for them to have been

(05:58):
terrible for as long as they havehas been really disappointing to see. So
I'm hoping that you have that influxof energy there similar to it by the
way, you know, the Seahawksget some influx of energy. You just
needed to boost. The program neededa boost, and and Kyle Smith is
a solid higher So I'm excited aboutOh, you mentioned the Seahawks. Let's
move on to there. Because there'sbeen rumor, speculation, nobody knows what's

(06:21):
going on, and people are justputting things out there. We're kind of
in the I don't know, theeye of the storm. I guess you
could say, because we're before thedraft, we have no idea what's going
on, and we are post freeagency flutter. What do you make of
the moves that they've made or didn'tduring this reagency period. Well, I

(06:43):
mean, it's better to feel thisway now as opposed to at the beginning
of September after training camp, right, I mean, this is also going
to be one of those first timesince twenty ten where I'm going to have
to do some extensive research and studyingat the roster. You know, half
of the guys, It's like,Okay, who are these guys after all
the moves that carrolln Scheider made fourteenyears ago. It's interesting though, I
mean, listen, I love thefact that they brought back Leonard Williams,

(07:04):
and I'm intrigued by the linebacker hiresthat they had and Dodson and Baker and
how they fit into this Mike McDonalddefense. You're obviously going to trust a
guy who has had nothing but successas a defensive coordinator the last couple of
years or three years. You goback to what he did at Michigan on
the college level, and then turningthe Baltimore Ravens defense around the last two

(07:24):
years, their numbers are one hundredtimes better than they were under Wink Martindale,
even though they had a decent defensebefore then. So you've got to
trust a guy like that and seewhat he's going to do, especially with
the Seahawks defense that ranked what thirtyaeth thirty first in the league the last
two seasons and gave up more yardsthan any other team in the NFL.

(07:44):
So I'm curious to see how allthose pieces fit together, even though it's
disappointing and sad that you're having tosay goodbye to some of the players like
Andandre Diggs and Bobby Wagner who you'vebecome used to having over the last four
or five years or so. Curiousabout what they do on the offensive line,
I mean, they need, theyneed guards. What's going to happen
in this draft their interior of theiroffensive line. Yeah, they signed Nick

(08:09):
Harris, but who's going to belining up next to him. I like
the fact that they got a coupleof tackles bringing George Fan back. But
you have to win in the trenches, and that's one of the things that
Mike McDonald has established as a priority. Now he needs the personnel to do
so, and hopefully he'll be gettingsome of those guys in the draft.
Moving forward, Aaron Levine joining ushere on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline, and

(08:31):
we're going to get into the breakingnews in just a little bit here with
Danny Sprinkle being named head coach herefor Huskies men's basketball. But I did
want to touch more on the Seahawkshere as you brought this conversation up there
and we just heard that. Ofcourse Mike McDonald naming already Gino Smith the
starting quarterback and we haven't even hitthe NFL draft. I mean, how
surprised are you that this is allof a sudden been settled. What it

(08:52):
feels like the blink of an eye. You can say it's settled, But
I still think there's gonna be acompetition. I mean, listen, samow
is going to come into training camp. He's going to compete even though there's
a there's he understands there's an understandingthat he is the backup quarterback coming in
and Mike McDonald has said that, but you know, Howell has experience starting
at the NFL level. We'll seeif they make any moves in the draft,

(09:15):
if they end up drafting a quarterback. You know, John Schneider is
not really keen on that or hasn'tin the past based off of his draft
history. And you have two formidableguys as as a Seahawks quarterback who could
start at the NFL level. Sowe'll see how that all plays out.
Listen, Gino Smith is is adecent NFL quarterback. He's a suitable NFL
quarterback. He's done well the lastcouple of years as a Seahawks starter,

(09:37):
I think, better than anybody wouldhave ever expected of being thrown into that
role. And so give him theopportunity and see how he works with the
new offensive coordinator. Also, Imean really excited to see what Ryan Grubb
does at the NFL level two afterwatching him in college at ub So I
think all of this is a workin progress. I love the fact that
they brought in guys in that buildingwho think differently about things and put a

(10:01):
different perspective and philosophy on things. And we're going to see how it all
works. Am I expecting them towin the Super Bowl this upcoming season?
Absolutely not, But I think thatthe foundation is certainly going to be built
for potential championships for years to come. Aaron Levine, a Fox thirteen joining
us here on KJR and aeron. You know you mentioned Ryan Grubb and you've
been covering football. You've been coveringall the sports for a very long time

(10:24):
as young as you are, andthat wasn't a joke. I mean you
started when you were like ten,So I'm curious. I looked like I
was ten, now I look likeI'm twenty two. Hey, good for
you. I know what I'm sincehe was twenty. Yes, I can
definitely say ten. Ten is agood number. Yeah, it's like you
appreciate it more with age, right, it is how you can look.

(10:48):
But I'm curious, in all ofyour time covering football, how you've seen
the transition going from college to theNFL. Would you give it a ratio
on success to failure when it comesto just Ryan Grubb being in this situation,
But as comparatively as you can, you're the guy that stands out the
most. Unfortunately as Ship Kelly becausehis offense on the college level was so

(11:11):
innovative and yet it failed miserably onthe NFL level. And I hope that's
not, you know, a testcase for what we're going to see with
Ryan Grubb, because I think whathe demonstrated was a much different type of
offense than Schip Kelly showed at thecollege level. It just seemed more innovative
than anything we had seen in areally long time. And everybody thinks about

(11:33):
the passing game at you doub andutilizing Michael Pennix, But at the heart
of it, yeah, the Huskiesdidn't exactly have the best run game in
the world, the best running stats. But Ryan Grubb is an offensive minded
guy when it comes to the offensiveline. I mean, he builds a
football offense around the offensive line andthe success of that line. I mean,

(11:54):
there's a reason why the Huskies wonthe award in college football this past
year for having the best offensive linethe country. It wasn't Michigan, it
wasn't a team from the SEC.It was a team from the Pac twelve,
and it was an offensive line thatwas under Ryan Grubb. So hopefully
the Seahawks will do something similarly andthen you can use the innovation that he
brought to college and it becomes successfulat the NFL level, and then you'll

(12:16):
have the two guys. You'll havea ratio one to one, one that
succeeded and one that failed, andthe one that succeeded ends up being grubbed
with the Seahawks. So would youthen be surprised to see them pick anything
else but an offensive lineman in theirfirst pick? I would be. I
wouldn't be surprised if they picked youknow, anybody. But I shouldn't say

(12:37):
this if they picked a kicker inthe first row, surprise, Hey,
get that bad juju out of here. No no, no, no,
no no. Schneider's been on recordin saying that they're going to take best
player available based off of their board, regardless of position, when they come
up in the first round, andif not and their player's not there,

(12:58):
then they will move down to itdraft. I think they picked for need
a little bit later on in thedraft than they do early on. So
again, when it comes to thefirst round, I have no idea what
the bill tick and I don't thinkthat changes our view. Faced off of
many years of seeing John Schneider selectplayers in this draft over the last fourteen
years, Aaron, the picture isnow more clear as far as the Huskies

(13:20):
and the basketball program on the men'sside, with Danny Sprinkle being named head
coach literally just about minutes ago here, I mean, I think, yeah,
first off, the questions are raisedright now early on to you,
what are the expectations here for yourone? I mean, more than expectations,
I think a priority needs to bekeeping Will Conroy on that staff.

(13:41):
I mean, I Will as acandidate to replace Mike Hopkins as head coach.
He has such deep roots here inthe Seattle community, and I think
eventually he does deserve, I mean, he deserves an opportunity to be a
head coach at the Division one level. But he's a huge asset in terms
of keeping some of the recruits thatthey've they've already got on on schedule to

(14:05):
join the Huskies this upcoming season. And then I don't know much about Danny
Sprinkle at all. I'm just hopingthat, similarly like you see in any
other coaching change, that he infusesmore energy into a program and lose it
in the right direction, because clearlyMike Hopkins wasn't the right guy. I
mean, fantastic guy had success inthis you know for what second year on

(14:26):
lock ties here to football and tieshere to money. But I mean again,
we go back and think of theday and age we're in right now,
present day March madness, the attentionit's getting for a move like this.
I mean, what would it meanhere to have Husky's basketball once again
grab this kind of attention nationally? If we can see this at a Danny

(14:46):
sprinkle in this program, Well,it's been a long time coming, right,
I mean they need to bring ina similar way to the way Caitlin
de Boar brought hus football back innational prominence. They need this Hussey men's
basketball team to do exactly the samebecause it's been a really long time since

(15:07):
they had the successful years, mindyou, under Lorenzo Romar, and that's
that's been a long time coming.I think one of the weirdest and most
interesting parts about this hire is thatit was set in place by point in
before in western Nebraska. So whoevercomes in as an athletic director, as
a brand new athletic director, isgoing to have a brand new head men's

(15:28):
basketball coach that he or she didn'thire. That's so strange to me,
so the fact that I was putin place. Yeah, they're getting a
good coach, you know, seeminglythey are. But if things go sour
in the first couple of years andSprinkle is not the hire of the new
athletic director, then how short aleash is he or she going to have

(15:48):
with coach Sprinkle. It's interesting conundrum. And that's a really good point.
I feel like I can harken backto a couple different situations that I've seen
over the years where that did notwork out very well because you know who's
wagging the dog in that situation, right Aaron Levine a Fox thirteen with us
right now, And if you don'tmind, because we're asking you about all

(16:11):
of the sports, I want todelve into a really spicy, juicy story
that we're seeing pop up more andmore details coming out in baseball with shohe
O Tani. And I mean, one, did the Mariners dodge a bullet
by not landing the hottest player thatwas available in free agency? And two,
what do you think is going onbetween he his interpreter in this gambling

(16:33):
mess. He's supposed to talk todayor release a statement. I'm sorry,
but he's not going to talk tothe media. What's going on in your
mind? So to your first pointin retrospect, yes, the Mariners dodged
a bullet and I'll be hey, hindsight work for us on this time.
Yeah, and that's true, Butit doesn't excuse the Mariner's ownership for not
going after the big name free agencySassey, the biggest name free agency SAR.

(16:56):
When we're talking about you know Aaniwasn't the only one I know there
was. There was Soto was outthere also, So again, it does
not give them an excuse for notgoing after the big guys. To the
second point, I have no ideawhat to think about the situation. It
is. It is so wild tome that anybody could use four point five

(17:18):
million dollars and wire it what fromShoeyo Tane's bank account without him knowing,
and it was it just it doesn'tpass the sniff test. And I know
a lot more details are going tocome out. But Major League Baseball has
the responsibility in terms of not justletting this slide. They need to get
to the bottom of it. Theyneed to get their facts straight. And

(17:40):
if Shoheyo Tani was knowledgeable of this, then he needs to be punished accordingly.
Well, one thing I'd take awayfrom this early on, and you
raised some valid points, Aaron,is that from what we know, there
is nothing yet tied to Otani yet. This is the last thing that Major
League Baseball had on their is thiskind of a situation, And there's gonna

(18:03):
be a ton of questions there aregoing to be raised still, and it
doesn't matter really how long it willtake for MLB to issue what they know
once the Feds get involved here,it doesn't matter how long they will take
their sweet time on this until everysingle question certainly is answered. Ties or
no ties. My man, thankyou so much. I mean I want

(18:23):
to touch further, you know what. Lastly here as far as the whole
rounding out of the sports scene recently, I mean last night the crack and
lose. It's now eight winless gamesin a row. What questions here do
you have towards the end of theNHL regular season for them and me and
also heading into the summer. Yeah, what are they playing for right now?
Honestly? Because it seems as thoughplayers on that team don't even know

(18:47):
And unfortunately we were there when theylost to Vegas at Climate Pledgerina, they
had the two goal lead, theytook the two goalie in the third period,
and it has all gone sour fromthere and that was essentially the end
of their season. They've played likeit ever since. Yeah, they've had
some decent spots over the last eightgames, but when it's all said and
done, they've lost eight games ina row. This is a team that
didn't lose more than three straight gamesall last season during that magical run of

(19:11):
the playoffs. What is what's theirfunctioning going forward? And unfortunately, you
know, it's sad that we havewe have a what's Cracking show over the
next four weeks of the regular seasonand a wrap up show. What are
we going to be discussing on thatshow over the next four weeks? And
it's essentially what is the future ofthis organization? What can they do?
Fortunately, they brought a couple guysup to get some experience at the NHL

(19:33):
level, hopefully, and how doesthis team find a purpose not only for
the next four weeks, but thenheading into next year and moving forward.
We got questions. You can certainlyhelp us find the answers. Mom Man,
Thanks so much appreciate you, Aaron. Thanks guys. Thanks eron Aaron
Levin a Fox thirteen joining us.Also, by the way, he's got
what's cracking as well seven to eightor seven o'clock each week on Fox thirteen.

(19:57):
Big thank you to Aaron Levine. We know that there's a whole pope
Rea of sports stories, and there'sbeen a ton over the last few days
that Aaron's that all covered here.Yeah, I know. That's what's great
about having a what he's like afive tool player when it comes to getting
someone online to talk about everything wehave. It's a good thing in our
world. It's not so good inother worlds, including my dear Polouz.

(20:18):
You know who's also the five toolplayer on this show. Voicemails. Those
are also going to come up nexthere, Chris, kids all getting getting
those all lined up right now. He's our five tool voicemails. Next,
Mike andh jessmon in for fucking Jim. It's about that time we mentioned it.

(20:41):
We had this show. It's abreaking new show of record. Danny
Sprinkle, come on down, Welcometo the Washington Huskies. It's real,
folks. Also, Kyle Smith toStanford. Are they the trees or they
the cardinal? I said earlier thatthere has to be a Stanford tree appearance
on this voicemail signal. I haveno idea if it's going to drop in

(21:04):
because you mentioned the five tool playeron this show or the voicemail callers.
But it's also Chris Kid as well. It is, and he's a different
You're you're pane of glass right now. You are pointing up the wrong window,
right, yeah, exactly. Well, I just like to keep an
eye on every wed We got avery small window there, and then we
have a disappearing He's also welcome backthe invisible man. I thought you teleported

(21:33):
is somewhere. Sorry to scare you. Are you doing the board now or
something? I was gonna I wasgonna run in, but then I saw
you right up there, and thenI could see you right there. Yeah.
Sorry, that was a little toomuch behind. I can totally skipped
out when I threw you the ultimatecompliment, Yeah you missed it. I
can play it back later. It'sokay, thank you, my tool player.
Right here, real MVP, overhere, real MVP. Is it

(21:56):
about that time? The most magicaltime of our three hours together voicemails.
I think it's about them. Wehave four voice let's do it and loaded.
All right, let's go number onewill hello Stanford Cardinal here, and

(22:18):
you know that's a tree calling fromthe Stanford University that I represent. That
just took on Kyle Smith, whowouldn't want to come out here with our
superior academics and superior trees like me. Good riddance, Washington States. You're

(22:41):
want to stay by the Bell Backin the day, they totally try to
try to avoid a lawsuit and usethe makeup school Stansbury. Oh yeah,
a distant relative of the of theadministrator from Stansbury. Oh my gosh,
I completely forgot about that. WhereJesse Spano's whole academic prowess. Right,

(23:03):
if you're in my age, youknow what I'm talking about. Yeah,
if you're age, I'm talking aboutthrowback. That was really good. Okay,
I just want to I don't know, I don't I don't know if
this is a brag or this ispathetic. But I can really recite every
episode to Save by the Bell.I have seen every episode. Oh wow,
Well I think I've seen every episode, but I can't recite them.

(23:25):
Well, I'll put it to youthis way. If you show me one
scene or tell me a line,I can tell you almost exactly what season
it was and what episode it was. Wow, Okay, you have some
real dedication, real dedication, right, Just I'm just submitting it here.
Who anyway, full on life admission. I just want to appreciate the production
value of that voicemail too, becauseit not only had that old school classy

(23:51):
music on, but it sounded likeit was actually on a record, so
that I thought it was Jim Nansenfirst coming on. I appreciate that alright.
Number two, Yeah, jess Man, I'm with you on this one.
Kyle Smith, like, how couldyou leave Pollman and go to Palo
Alto to Stanford? And not onlythat, but you're going to get paid

(24:11):
more there, have better recruits andhave more NIL money. So it just
doesn't make sense. Why would youleave Pollman to Palo Alto. Well,
first of all, I get I'mpicking up on your sarcasm because you were
laying on I'm pretty thick there.I would just say that it's different the

(24:33):
way that Stanford handles things too, because they've held themselves in so high regard
as an academic institution, and bythe way, they moved to the ACC
And I'm not really sure, tobe honest, if that's the basketball schedule
they're playing, but I'm pretty surefor at least this year it is.
And so the travel is going tobe horrendous, specifically on a basketball team

(24:56):
who plays a significant more amount ofteams than a football team. And we're
all talking about football. Well, basketball, you're traveling back. And by
the way, this isn't just asimple East coast trip. This is a
You're going to Florida to make funof me for that and you're going I
just pointed at you, I saidnothing. I said nothing. You're going

(25:18):
basically from northern California to like thefarthest parts of the country that you can
get to. And the taxation thatthis is gonna take, but yeah,
if it's all for the dollar, that's just not the type of guy that
I thought Kyle Smith was. AndI'm not judging him for too. He
should make more money for him,his family, do whatever, but it's
the that nil money which Kyle Smithalso said that he did not like being

(25:41):
a GM of a team in acollege situation, and that's how he felt
when this all started. So Ijust thought that if he was going to
go elsewhere, it would be toa more significant or a more I guess
like condensed area of travel or notan academic institution. I'm going to open

(26:03):
my mouth and not make fun ofyou. It's not my game. I
just pointed at you, but spitthese facts out here. Stanford on the
road, we'll be going to Clemsonand Duke and Georgia Tech and Louisville.
But wait, that's not all toNorth Carolina, to Notre Dame and to

(26:26):
Pittsburgh. That's not a fun travelschedule. But I would welcome that competition
if I was in that situation. You know, you are playing a different
league. I know that Wazu basketballis going to play a WCC type of
schedule next year. So and alsothe instability of the PAC two right now,

(26:47):
I'm sure that probably played into ittoo. So I'm not surprised he
see left. I'm just surprised wherehe went. Number three, Hey guys,
GQ Jerry here with a quick updateon the marriage. Lovely. Keep
in mind with opening day being Thursday, and even though we're the second most
profitable team in baseball in two years. We're gonna need to spend a lot
more money at the ballpark for meto upgrade third base. Root Sports should

(27:11):
go to a ninety nine dollars chargeas the focus is going to be another
hatback barring. Continue to tune inas I shove absolutely reimagining. Crap down
your throat that guys, Oh mygoodness, can always count on GQ Jerry.
Oh wow. You can count onyour a good neighbor that hit on
a lot of movies. You cancount on your dog when you get home

(27:33):
waiting for you. You can alwayscount on GQ Jerry in this segment.
Always does he know what I wantto spend my money on here? That's
a scary part. It's almost likeit has it down with te yep pretty
much. By the way. Ilove Hatback, don't. Oh yeah,
I just and I just stepped intoit for the very first time during the
All Star break this last year.Oh really, I have no idea why

(27:55):
it took so long. Oh well, the previous establishment before it was taken
over unchanged into half back. Iused to frequent there a lot too,
because I was down at games allthe time. And yeah, it's it's
great location and I do very muchenjoy number four ball. We're here,
Babby. We're just preaching about whomade the higher without an athletic director that

(28:18):
dipsticks down and Boulton from a Raska, that'd be none other than me.
Baby. They gave me a calland locking the dogs down here on freaking
mot like, and I said,we need to sprinkle some magic on the
program and bo sprinkles in town,Baby, spurkling doll, tak it over,
have a good day. The softybringing cupcakes are donuts with the sprinkles

(28:41):
today you think, oh boy,he's usually a taco time guy, but
sprinkles wouldn't go well on that.He might. I I don't know how
he feels yet about this. Ialmost want to say he would go to
great lace to put sprinkles on tacos. He might. That man is capable
of anything. I just want tosay the voicemail if we can go to

(29:02):
an ice cream parlor these days andorder stuff that has what like vanilla ice
cream with like siracha on it,Yeah, and like bacon, Yeah,
you know donuts bacon for sure.Yeah, you can throw some pull pork
in there with a little bit ofsugar. Yeah, pretty much anything goes
these days. But I thought itwas actually Softy for a second. I'm

(29:26):
not gonna lie kind of. Ican always tell because I get like a
softy on this voicemail segment last weekend. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
Joel SAFTI wasn't rare form today herein this segment rare form. That was
as close as I've heard. Andlike I said, like, I get
like a mini panic attack when Ihear his voice, so he makes me
nervous. You know, I hadfour games and four days here before this

(29:48):
show today, I didn't need anymore of a drink of caffeine. That
just woke me up. That waspretty good. Thanks Softy, appreciate you
all right? Uh tweeted the daynext and that story changed. Oh so
oh quickly. Oh yeah, thatkilled mine. That's eighty seventy six from
Oakland courtesy of Oakland. I'm allin for upsets, but my bracketstead Just

(30:08):
see the one joke about Drake. We're in Kentucky gear and then all of
a sudden, the upset happens, and he's shown sitting in the same room
in Oakland's film room where in OaklandGear. Yeah, they pick a team,
dude, and just like just ownit. I guess you just wanted
to keep going to the games, like, okay, we'll take a take
a different one. So where's Kentuckygoing with all of this? In John

(30:30):
Calipari, Well, there was oneheadline from a local paper which mentioned the
possibility of a buyout. But thetweet of the day on this Jess,
you found this one out, didn'tyou? I did. Yeah, I
saw it, and it just laughedso much because you know, almost everything
is digital these days, but thisis a physical, printed newspaper, so

(30:52):
you can't edit it. You can'tgo back and issue a correction or just
you know, sneak it in there. And so yeah, one was why
it's the headline. You know,it was above the folds on the front
page. Hold on, I justwant to make sure that I have now.
When you say above the fold,it basically means that it is the
first thing you see. If you'regonna, you know, go ahead and

(31:15):
do what we used to do backin the day, put a quarter in
and then just open the grate andyank the paper out. Ye, It's
it's not hidden like it's right there. Well, the first thing is It's
always a privilege to get a storyprinted above the fold, on the on
the front page and everything. Andthis is from the Herald Leader and thirty
three million and this is a commentaryas well, So it's not a game

(31:37):
story anything. Thirty three million dollarCalipari buyout would be the wrong thing to
do, except Calipari. I guess, in my mind, top five most
recognizable game names in college basketball Calibarispelled with a K, and that goes
through several levels. And I willnot blame it on the author of that

(32:00):
story, because I know that otherpeople write headlines and I'm not sure what
kind of distribution level the Harold Leaderis on in Kentucky. But John CALLI
party, you gotta know how tospell it? Can you imagine if if
this happened like off Tobacco Road, like back when Krzyzewski was coaching Duke and

(32:20):
they had a misspell of his nameon the front page of the paper.
Now it's at least a little moreunderstand k r z y z e w
s K I is that it?I'm pretty sure it is because I taught
myself how to spell that along. What about spelling pe? Carolthy was still
here k A R R O.It's essentially for the level of person in

(32:42):
the area. That's essentially that becauseI don't think anyone in Kentucky is as
famous, right Dave axtell h AX S T O L Scott, servis
s E R V I C.These that you're saying are more understand they
are. I mean you can't.They can google this. I mean you

(33:05):
can if anyone is just tuning inand thinking, how could you miss play
your coaches? Not it was atweet of the day. It was the
day. It was a tweet ofthe day. Put the record out with
a screen grab of a physical newspaperthat spelled John Calipari's name wrong. And
it's not a two L by accidentsituation or an I instead of an A.

(33:27):
It's the first letter. And there'sonly two letters that you could use.
Right. Sometimes like you were saying, you know service right, It's
like, you know, it couldbe spelled like service, like bar service,
weight service. Some people could makethat mistake. But I just thought
I thought it was funny and Ifelt really bad too. But that had
to go through editors, printers, screeners, all the staff that is involved

(33:52):
before something goes to print, especiallyphysical print that you can't change. I
just found it. Well, it'sit's it's again the whole thing of how
the game with newspapers have changed nowthese days, especially in the last like
fifteen years. The fair point therecould be an intern doing handlines, you
know, if that's all they're doing, is just you know, writing that
for above the whole fold day maybeAI. Oh well, that actually would

(34:16):
be a good vote against AI.I hope it was, and I hope
that that. Well, Siri getsit wrong for me every day here,
so oh my goodness, Anderson,I have a whole joke with Ian about
trying to decipher because you can seethe scent with Siri on it, and
trying to decipher what he actually meant, like piecing together math problems and I
think he means this here, butI mean, I at least appreciate that

(34:39):
he's using hands free when he's textingthe worst part of it is that when
I'm in my car and I'm textingmy wife about something, and I'm texting
her about my nine year old andhe spells this name a bit differently than
the traditional spelling. Oh yeah, and every every time, every time,
every time sirih gets it wrong.I thought by now you could easily program

(35:02):
Siri too, you know, youknow, use like a unique spelling and
have it come out the way thatyou want. Yeah, well you can
do a fake number right and putyour put that name whatever you want.
Like for instance, duck was avery popular word in all of my text
exchanges, and so I programs Iwould ask you what the original word is.

(35:25):
Everybody knows what I'm talking about. But so I programmed ducking duck as
a phone number in my phone.Obviously it wasn't that, and so both
of those words. You know,it's a first name and last name.
So now when I you know,my autocorrect and everything, all it does
is capitalize it because it's a propername in my phone. It's not a

(35:47):
bad not a bad technique. Sotwo six already asking Cala Parti's first letter
is a C. So I knowthey tuned did at the wrong time?
No, I'm not a spell johnCali party. Oh yeah, no,
we were making fun of the newspaperthis. There was a K, that's
it. Maybe we didn't actually explainthat all all that well, but yes,
the front page of a local newspaperin Kentucky spelled John Callapari with a

(36:10):
K, and we were just pokingfun at it and talking about how print
media is really changed. All ofthis from Matt Jones at KY Sports Radio,
who shared this here, and therewas an interesting reply from Joshua Morris
saying local copy editing jobs have beenousted across the industry and the Herald Leader
hasn't had a local copy desk forat least five to six years now.

(36:31):
It could have been written by anywherein the country and possibly even you know,
outside the country, who knows where, who knows where? It doesn't
excuse it, though, Well that'ssad. It's a sad for journalism,
I should say. And if that'sthe way things are going, and I
mean, I know almost everybody isgoing digital now, so I understand that

(36:52):
print journalism hopefully asn't you know, the physical newspapers might be dying, but
there were just mostly I grading intothe digital sphere repercussions for doing that.
Is that a suspension? Is thata yeah? A year I'm from It's
an automatic flap of the hand.Maybe yeah, yeah you would but well

(37:13):
yes, yeah, Chris, youspilled hospital wrong. You failed this.
Yeah, maybe it was an internand they could say, I hope this
was your learning experience you wanted.Yeah it is. What did I say
about the editor too? I meanthat guy's probably a little water as well.
You know what would be the mostimportant thing I learned in journalism back
in school and like a media lawand ethics class. If your mother says

(37:34):
she loves you, double check thattoo. Wait, what if your mother
says she loves you? Double checkthat too. Oh I see, I
see double check everything. Sorry, that one took me a little bit.
I make my share mistakes as well. Yeah I do too. And sometimes
I'll just text on a fly andI'm in a rush and the wrong they
go go to the wrong person. But yeah, I get it. My

(37:57):
dad told me a story a longlong time ago. I think he was
in high school, so it wasbefore his actual, uh you know,
college days. But he spelled theword of UV an entire essay consistently,
and you know, the word ofis probably going to get used a lot,
but he spelled it uv And theteacher came back was like, are

(38:19):
you okay? And yeah, andI've only failed him because of that.
Said, if he spelled it correctly, then that would have been fine,
A plus, A plus if hedidn't make that that missing for four days
away here for the Mariners opening upagainst the Boston Red Sox at t Mobile
Park. We got questions Bullpen, maybe Manchanniger, maybe the rotation. Maybe
