Speaker 1 (00:00):
My boyfriend Eric, been like a couple months and almost
right away was like, I love you, and he recently
proposed to me.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Okay, do you feel good about it?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
I mean, I mean, he's great, but here's the thing
that concerns me. He's from Canada. He's been on a
work visa and it's about to expire, and I don't
even care. But all my family my friends are completely like,
you know, he probably just wants to stay in the country.

(00:34):
You're moving way too fast, but they're putting all this
doubt in my head.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Got a couple months, dude, Like, I don't even know
if I like you in a couple months. But that's me,
and I guess there is such a thing, and I
do believe in love at first sight. Yeah, but even me,
you though, you got to kind of get to know
somebody first. The way that it's lining up is fishy,
but ultimately you're the person that has to make the decision.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Have you brought up the whole visa angle to him?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, and he says that has nothing to do with
our connection, and he wants to create a life with me,
and I want to do that too.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
But like I would generally say pause, right, But I
mean I would have to see what his thinking is
around it before we could even, you know, try to
help you through it. I mean, maybe he's totally down
to wait too, and it's not concerned. But if he
shows some kind of resistance, then possibly it is about
his citizenship.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I don't know, girl, but we can call him. What
was his name again, Eric? Eric?

Speaker 3 (01:33):
All right, Well, give me Eric's number. We'll call him
and just see where his head is at.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Right, right, Okay, good morning. How are you?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I'm well, how are you?

Speaker 4 (01:41):
I'm doing.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
I know that you're on your way to work, but
we have Carla on the phone. Hi, Carla, Yeah, she's.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Here, Carla, Hi, sweete. You guys have not been in
a relationship very long, Like, what about Carla stands out
to you so much that you want to go ahead
and get engaged already after such a short time.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Going to be honest, I've been very fortunate with dating.
My issue has always been like trying to filter out
who I think could actually be a long term partner.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
So you've been going on a lot of dates before
you met Carla. Yeah, okay, obviously you know the elephant
in the room is your expiring.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Work, visa.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah, if all these things are great right now, won't
they be great in like a year?

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Like why the pressure to get married right away?

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Just I don't know things can change in a year
based on just how the country's shaping up and everything.
Who knows if I'm even going to be allowed to
be back And yeah, I'm not gonna lie. The visa
is coming up. It does help that as well, but
that's not the only reason. And I would feel that
she knows me, at least to that point where she
wouldn't think that I'm like some con artists.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
All right, how you feeling, Carla?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
You know how I feel.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
But I've been getting so much pressure I have to
tell you, like it's just put this doubt in my
mind and I don't like it at all.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Like it's important to pay attention to your loved ones,
but I'm offended. You say you love me too, but
that's not what I'm really seeing here. You know, It's
like I'm not dating them. They don't know me. You
know me, They're not a child or your mommy needs
to tell you what's okay.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
And what's not, so they know me better than anybody.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
I'm just saying yeah, I have a situation with my
work visa coming up, but like that doesn't mean you
just like throw me into the ground and be like, well.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Oh wow, well we got two different people here. Are
you a Gemini?

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Cuz sheesh, you were just this sweet, endearing person and
now you're upset at just the facts of it.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
And that's not helping how I'm feeling either.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah. By the way, if somebody offends me, it's going
to change my mood.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
It sounds like defensive to me.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
So again, Carla, you know how I feel about it,
Like I think you should really pause. A month is
no time at all to know someone, much less get
engaged or think about marrying someone.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
And then with the.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Visa thing, if it doesn't matter to him, like he said,
then it doesn't matter to him, and you guys can
stay engaged for however long.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
But it's just too soon in my opinion.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
And if that just makes you feel disrespected, I apologize,
and I hope that your love really is real.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
And you know, again, time will tell thank.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
You for you just kind of clarified things for me,
So thank you so much. And he and I are
just going to have.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
To have a talk a lot more talking.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Thank you, thank you,
