Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the NFL Draft, coming to you live from
the Virginia Mason Athletics Center. This is the twenty twenty
five and NFL Draft and brought to you by Coors Light,
by R and R Foundation specialist but Queen Anne beer Hall,
and by Fox thirteen on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R FM.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
All right, welcome back to the twelfth man Draft coverage
brought to you by cors Light, R and R Foundation specialists,
the Queen Anne beer Hall, and Fox thirteen. My name
is Christopher kid here, joined by Anderson Hirst, not anders
Anderson Hirst. Just want to make sure you guys understand
that that's crystal clear. Man. It's been a busy few

(00:42):
days for the draft. YEA, Sleahawks have they've been on it.
I'll be honest. I have been smiling like, Oh, they're
doing this, They're doing They're they're making picks that I
think a lot of fans are checking off the boxes.
I know I've been checking off the boxes and it's
been really cool to see that. Sure, it might not
have been the quote unquote need that they want to attack,

(01:04):
but their best player available happened to be what a
guard yep, all right, they got him at eighteen. Maybe
it's a reach. Maybe in two years the Seahawks fans
are saying, oh god, we did it again, or maybe
it's an All Pro player and everything turns out. Find
the offensive line improved from thirtieth to top fifteen, top ten. Right,
that's the jump that they're looking to make over the

(01:26):
next season. But again, Christopher Kidd here with Anderson Hurst,
give you more draft covers, as we have two more picks.
The Seahawks just not we let me not say we.
I am not a part of the Seahawks organization, so
let me no, no, no, I am not a fan
in that regard. But the Seahawks did take Damien Martinez
running back recently, seventh round pick with the trade to Picksburg,

(01:49):
sending DK there obviously, So Damien Martinez new running back.
That's a steal.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Sam.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yes, the Chuck kind of alluded to it. He is
a powerback that I know they have that in Zach Sharbney.
But you can never have too many good running backs
that can find the way to the end. Zon Right, Anderson, Well,
and now it seems like they kind of have two
of each type. Right, you got you kind of got
the two bruisers in between the tackles runners in Zach
Sharbiney and Damian Martinez, and then you got the two
speed series in Kenny McIntosh and Ken Walker. Yeah, so

(02:17):
I think it's good to have a little bit more
depth there because we've seen the past couple of years
the injury bug really bite them in that kind of way,
and especially once they want to run the ball more,
they're gonna need some more guys there. Yeah, so a
quick recap if you're just now joining us, let's go
over all the picks of Shawks made. They kick things
off with Gray Zabel their first round, eighteenth pick overall,
second round, they made a trade. Can you believe that
they made a trade? John Schnader got in his bag

(02:40):
and does we does best We'll is make trade. Seyock
traded pick fifty two and eighty two to get number
thirty five overall, And so like safety Nick emon Roori,
all right, and I think a lot of people really
really like that decision that I heard Cam Chanceller being whispered,
So hey, I'm not mad at that. And then Elijah Arrio,
I'm not sure if he's related to Carlow's Oriol they

(03:00):
played in the NBA. Oh for the Miami he played.
He bounced around point guard. If you're a real NBA dog,
you know about Carlos Royal. But Elijah Orio out of Miami.
They got him at in the second round fifith overall,
and then surprise, surprise, third round ninety second overall. Jalen Murroe,
can we whisper this?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
No?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
The future? All right?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Oh? Not even whispering?

Speaker 2 (03:24):
I lied, I lied, I was a joke, Jalen Murroe,
they got him? I think this? Okay? Yeah, Seahawks are
on the clock.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
So actually their pick us in, so we'll have their
selection here in just a second. But you can keep going.
I'll let you know if.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Well, let me continue, Yes, Jalen Mirroll the future quarterback solid.
I didn't expect that. I'm not going to lie. I
didn't think this were going to take a quarterback in
this time either, but hey, I'm at a draft expert, okay,
so surprise. Just like everybody else, they continue get some
defensive tackle depth. Riley Mills Notre Dame. Fifth round one overall,

(03:57):
wide receiver Tory Horton. I'm sure you guys remember that name.
Because he took on Colorado and he had a pretty
good game against Travis Hunter.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
And that's why I was like, hmm, this guy's pretty good.
He's pretty impressive. So huge, huge pick by the say,
I was getting him in the fifth round, one sixty
sixth overall. I think he was the thirteenth best receiver
on Dame Rugler's top one hundred. So I'll give a
thumbs up to that fullback? Or is he a tight end?
A full back? Ok? Robbie Oots get a right state again,

(04:28):
Oots Oots? I love it. So Robbie Oots is the
Seahawks fifth round, one seventy five pick overall.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
They got it.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
They got their full back. They needed it for this scheme. God,
he looks like a full back to checks the well
the name, are you kidding me? That's such a full
such a full back name he got. Robbietz leading the way.
Sign me up another good name. Sixth round one ninety two,
Bryce Cable, Dude, he just sounds like a problem. Absolutely

(04:56):
twelfth ranked guard according to Dane Brugler. Signed me up.
And as I just mentioned, Damian Martinez and the Seawks
are on the clock. Hopefully we'll get that pick in
shortly find out what next young star potential could be
on this roster. But overall, I've been really impressed by
what the Seahawks have done this draft, and now it's
about what they do on Sunday's preseason yep, going into
the season. So I'm excited to see. Would have been
your thoughts so far?

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Well, just after getting the Damian Martinez pick, come in
before we get the next seventh round pick for the Seahawks. Here,
they like themselves some the playmakers around cam Ward. It
seems like they're like, Okay, they got the elijah' Royal,
the tight end in the second round pick fifty, and
then they got Damian Martinez.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
There it is ope, Seahawks getna tackle Mason Richmond's six
to five lineman three oh seven. We're not playing uh
you know at seventh round. He you know he's gonna
be fighting for a stbout to make the team. But
they are not messing around. They already got a guard
as well, drafted two guards. Excuse me, so they're going
offensive line heavy on Richmond. I think that's not a problem.

(05:54):
I wouldn't be mad at Seahawks take another offensive lineman
for their last pick.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah, it's funny because I honestly didn't expect them to
go as heavy in the old lineman maybe in terms
of volume of picks, but uh more so into the
higher picks, which is what we saw with Graysabel. But
they did both. This is now the third old lineman
they've taken. They got Gray's Abel in the first round.
We just talked about deguard Bryce Cable Doo from Kansas

(06:21):
in the sixth round.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
And now his name again, Bryce cable Do, Brice Cable,
who has a lot of uh you know, physical upside
as we heard from Corbyn talk with Chuck Powell in
the last hour.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
But now one more it's still failing to show up online. Richmond.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
I think Mason Richmond ye grew up outside of Kansas City.
Dude looks he's a free agent, so I don't have
much information. I'm going to probably bring in some heavy
duty hitters to break down his game.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Tackle looks like a tackle, big guy, long arms. Hey,
this is the seventh round. This is where you just
filling a spot. You need roster spots.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
If you're going to.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
Have an su blindman coming out of Iowa. Iowa is
a pretty solid place to grow them. I'm just gonna
say that they're coming out of Iowa. You want them
in the trenches. Plus he grew up outside of Kansas City.
They also breed him pretty big out there.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Hey, here we go from Dan Rugler. Richmond positions himself
well to sustain and pass protection and shows good letter
of quickness off the snap to reach Siller cut off speed,
although he overshoots his landmarks at times. Okay, like I said,
a work in progress. Have something that could be said
about a lot of the seventh round picks, but though
don't sleep on it. John Slater has had a few
that hit. Yeah, maybe not off of the tackles, but

(07:34):
Chris Carson running back, Yeah, turned out to be a stud.
Unfortunately neck injuries into his career. But John Slatter has
has been able to find guys that can make the
squad and make an impact, including David Moore is still
in the league. Let's to see for the Panthers if
I'm not mistaken bouncing around so he's being able to
do it. I'm not saying this kid will do that,
but right now you're just filling roster needs and getting

(07:55):
holes field that you can't well.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
And you mentioned it, he doesn't necessarily have the track
record for doing this for Lineman. I think that's the
one thing where it's gonna be questionable to see if
that's going to be turned into something big.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
And we heard before the draft and Schneider told us
so many times that he felt good about the guys
that they have, so and that kind of told me, Okay,
maybe they weren't going to invest as many picks into
the offensive line. But three is more than I thought
I I thought they I thought they'd do two or less.
But three out of their what out of what's eight
picks at this point in time, nine picks? Uh, that's

(08:29):
that's that's a pretty significant amount of capital that you're
investing towards that position. So I don't know if that's
a you know, we don't feel good about the guys
we have. Now we got to get more guys in
there to get some competition. But or just like you said,
the best guy that they had available was this guy.
So he's not even showing up with a picture on
the end of a draft Trackers classic John Schneider.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
He s's what happens in the seventh round?

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Years?

Speaker 2 (08:53):
What's up? Yeah, I played, No, we're not gonna get
into that any who. If you're just now tuning in,
you're listening to the twelve man draft coverage, brought to
you by COR's Light R and R Foundation specialists The Queen,
Anne beer Hall and Fox thirteen. I'm Christopher Kidd. You
might hear me every now and then alongside MJ and
the Midday, joined by Anderson Hurst.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
He's excited right now. I got two Miami's, two Miami Hurricanes.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
He's throwing up the you somewhere. So we've got Anderson
Hurst in as well. Don't laugh at me. He's on
the Infinnest Show with Jessamine McIntyre. So we are top
far the Seahawks away.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Let me three picks away. So the pick is in
for the Jaguars at two thirty six. Uh, and that
just went Leaquin Allen, the running back from Syracuse. Packers
are on the clock at two thirty seven, and the
Seahawks are right after them at two thirty eight.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
So we're getting close to the end, babies, we are
getting close to the end. What have surprised you most
so far in this twenty surprise? I think we've talked
about it.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
I think we all knew offensive line was a need,
but I honestly didn't expect them to address this much
or this volume of picks. I should say, towards that position,
they've gotten two tackles and then one guard of course
with Gray's Abel as well as sorry, two guards and
then one tackle now with Mason Richmond. So yeah, I
think this is a I don't know if this is

(10:06):
a John Benton coming in and saying, hey, we need
more dudes. I don't know if this is a change
of heart for John Scheider, because this is something he
normally wouldn't do. But I see it as a little
bit of a change of strategy for the Seahawks and
they're drafting. But I think most Seahawks fans were kind
of looking for that, So it's been a good kind
of different vibe, I would say to this draft. So,

(10:27):
the amount of picks dedicated to the offensive line, yeah,
I realized two of them are in the sixth and
seventh round, but still you expect to kind of go
a little more skill position to get some upside there
in those later draft picks. But I'm surprised and I'm
intrigued by it. I think it's gonna be a good
move for Seahawks and get as many guys in there
as they can and hopefully someone sticks.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
I'm sure Booky's really happy right now because tedz Johnson.
You know where he went, Bucky Oregon, went to Oregon
and now he's a buccaneer. So Tz is off the
board at number two thirty five. Just a little update
for you know. We've got some Dug fans that might
be listening, so I'll show up. Okay, totally noted. Just
thought I throw that out there because I know Chuck.

(11:08):
He mentioned the fantasy that we do for the green jacket.
I made the decision of dropping Tz and that didn't
work out well fights.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
So Chuck literally ran away with pumping his face right
as he should. He smoked. He said, kid, you're letting
go Tz.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
What about you? What's the big surprise?

Speaker 2 (11:24):
So big surprises quarterback, it has to be the fact
that they were able to get someone who they want. Yeah,
well that's what it sounds, supposedly. Supposedly allegedly, but I
liked him as the future. He is a project piece.
He is a guy that is athletically phenomenal. He checks
athletically all the boxes. Now can you get him to

(11:45):
be a quarterback and still use those incredible traits that
he has, his speed, his strength, his arm talent. Because
I think Jasn is going to be a suck for
a long time. His game is only going to going
to improve. There are a lot of pieces to this
puzzle that can I think be really good in the
next four or five years. So seeing that they're going
out and taking that risk with Jaln Milroe and saying, yeah,
this could be our guy in the next two three years,

(12:07):
I'm all for it. Let's see what this Let's see
how this plans out, this pans out.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Is it even a risk though, because like, you have
a guy in Sam Darnold that you feel pretty good about,
had a good year last year, and like, even if
it doesn't work out with Jylen Milroe, it looks like
the pick is in for Seattle at two thirty eight,
So we'll kind of wait and see if that updates.
But you know, I don't think that's that big of
a risk. It is a little earlier than I expected
them to do it. I thought they would go maybe

(12:32):
a fifth sixth rounder towards a quarterback because it seems
like there's a lot of those kind of middling to
lower guys where you could kind of throw something at
the wall, like a Will Johnson or Kyle McCord or
something like that. Yeah, but round three, pick ninety two
for jal Mirrou it sounds like they really liked him.
And you know, it was an interesting call last night
as well. I liked what he had to say about,

(12:53):
you know what he has to prove to the rest
of the league, and he almost kind of seemed like
embraced that he's going to be a project. He's not
going to be a starter right off the bat, and
I love that attitude. I think that's gonna be a
kind of good thing for him moving forward in the league.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Let's see if Chuck gets this right. He said they're
probably gonna take a cornerback. Yeah, I think they need
Maybe they the seventh round pick is either going to
be a cornerback. We're waiting to see what comes up
on the screen here, but I wouldn't be surprised that
at this point their corners. I like what they have. Yeah,
but you know what, why not take you out in
the seventh round, see what you can bring to your team?
Well and that's something the Seahawks have always done. They

(13:27):
always take a corner almost every single draft. It seems
like I can't. But again, you you got to Rekwelling
on the last year of his contract as well. I
think there's a lot of questions about him and if
he's going to be the old question forward. We just
need you to play. Actually, what Mike McDonald said, locked in,
locked to be locked in. When he's locked in, he's
one of the best in the league.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
But even so, like, uh oh, it looks like we
got it. Ricky White the third wide receiver out of
UNLV another receiver. Wow, Ricky White the third Wow?

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Why are you saying wow?

Speaker 3 (13:56):
I just I didn't expect them to go through the
whole and they could pick again, this is their last
scheduled pick in the twenty twenty five NFL Draft, but
they could trade back in you never know from from
next year's picks and so on and so forth. But
I did not expect them to go throughout this whole
draft process without adding a defensive back or I guess

(14:16):
a corner because you got your safety in Nick Emm
and worry. But still, yeah, that that surprises That surprised me.
A lot. Actually, maybe they have plans to move Kobe
Bryant back to back to the corner position because Ama
Warri seems like a pretty pretty sure fire safety, especially
if you're spending that capital in him. But wow, another receiver.
I kind of like it.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Well, I pulled up the beast. Dame Brugler has him
as a tall, thin athlete, given the nickname slick Rick.
I'm already signed up that you love? That was his
former ris Can Stay teammate Jayden Reed like the route
runner and ballcare with terrific tracking skills. So okay, ball's
in the air, he's gonna come down with it. Solid
checks out for me. So yeah, four six one a

(14:55):
little scary. They're not sure.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
You're a little self, a little slow.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Anderson, you might be able to run a four to
six seven right now? Wow? Wow is that a lot
of praise now? And who just not the fastest dude.
But hey, it's the seventh round pick here. You're just
adding pieces to the puzzle. I see the horde, as
Chuck calls them, gathering, gathering. So we're waiting on a
phone call and hearing from the young man.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
We'll be hearing from Mason Richmond because we still haven't
talked to him yet.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
So we're fine, we're behind that. Mason Richmond still got
to talk to us. And then Ricky White, the third
out of unov who the Sucks had just drafted as
their seventh round scheduled last pick in the seventh round.
Who knows John Shotter might get creative and find ways
of getting more picks. I mean where they have ten
picks today throughout the whole entire draft, if I'm not mistaken,
so a heavy, a big haul in that regard. And

(15:45):
one thing that I forgot to mention about picks, Oh, eleventh,
this is their eleventh pick. Okay, you gotta be done, John,
I never know, you never know, but I think you
did good.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
If I were just to give you a grade, hey
you get you get a B.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Plus A for me. If this is it? What is
there one thing they missed?

Speaker 2 (16:04):
That's a good question. One thing that they missed.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Or maybe he didn't address enough.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Ah, To be honest, I will say I don't think so, man.
I think they they got their fullback. That was kind
of the concern. Okay, you're gonna get a fullback. You
have this new scheme outside zone. Don't you want a
guy that's leading the charge on that? They check that
box for the future. I mentioned the quarterback. I think

(16:29):
we all understand Drew Lock's gonna be the backup. Yeah, okay,
what about after that? Do you want a starter potential?
Jalen Mirawell checks those boxes. I know there's a lot
on tape that says he can't be a starter, but
projects called growing and learning the game. He can do
that in the NFL at the next level with this
coaching staff. Perfect. They answered that another tight end because
I know Hugh has been big on no offense, not

(16:51):
being the guy. Could Elijah Arroyo become that guy who knows? Also,
I love AJ Barner. Sure he's still raw and has
a lot to learn the next level, but I think
he is last year when he showed checked all the
box for me. Yeah, he can block pass catch, he
brings that energy, he's never looking to go down, He's
always punishing dudes. Yeah, so I'm fine with it. Maybe

(17:13):
they got a little greedy at safety, but then you
look at the death chart, you're like, okay, that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Well, and especially like just that that player I think
on most people's boards he was a first round click
and to be able to get him in the second
round pick thirty five, it makes sense why they traded
up for him because the couldn't let him fall anymore.
So even if you kind of have the players in
that position you got, you kind of just got to
make it work to fit those guys in there. For me,
I think the two For me, we talked about corner,

(17:39):
but the other one I think one of the biggest
needs for the Seahawks coming into this draft. I think
besides offensive lineman, you could say edge would probably be
the second most biggest need.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
To be honest, I don't know. I guess it really
depends on the one guy who was banged up yet again, Tenuosu.
That is kind of the concern. But when they went
out and got DeMarcus Lawrence, I thought, Okay, this is
this is gonna be a really good year. And I'm
not saying you can't go out and draft a guy.
I'm not That's not an issue for me. But now

(18:09):
they're being another defensive tackle. I think I'm fine with that. Yeah,
so I understood that. I get why you would want
an edge guy, But for me, I was thinking, Okay.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Like I was almost thinking that's what they would do
in the first round. That's so much I think that
the Seahawks were looking for, and I obviously was wrong
about that, but that's how much of a need I
think this was for them, So I'm surprised they didn't
address it.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
Well, let's look at it, right, So on the edge
you have DeMarcus Lawrence yep, hopefully a healthier chin of Wosu.
We'll find out more information, but if not, Derek Hall
he fills that void. You got your big guys Williams, Bira, Murphy,
Jay Reid, and then you just drafted another young talent
the rooms. It's it's it's strong.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Well I'm looking a strictly edged though, so not not
the guys along the details.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
So you're just looking at DeMarcus Lawrence Boy and ma
Fey type. Okay, we'll just we'll just leave it at
DeMarcus Lawrence, Boy, Ma Fay and then Chenna Derek Hall. Yeah, okay, Yeah,
that's a solid unit. You could, to your point, drafted
another guy. But I ain't mad at them taking Nick Man. No, no,
because this I think safety is more of an issue,
just because of Julian loves his deal. I think he's
I fear what he's signed for, but it's not it's

(19:14):
three years, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, but he's already
on year two. And then you're bringing a young guy
like Nick who embodies what you mentioned. Cam.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
I heard some earl.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Okay, you're getting that at thirty five. Yeah, I'm not
mad at that.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Well, I'm not either.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
I'm Kobe Bryant checks off the box. I think he's
gonna be fine. Yeah, and then Jack Hall or not
Jarake Hall, Jared Read the second who's unproven had an
ACL injury. Okay, so right now, safety is a huge need. Yeah,
I like the D line. You're probably wanting more from
a few guys. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. They gotta
have a healthy Chenna for this year. If they're gonna
have production there, that's the big question. Yeah, Hinna health.

(19:49):
Is he gonna be there? If he's there, cool, He'll
give you eight and a have maybe ten sacks. Yeah,
that's perfect. But the safety position, I completely understand that
Julian loves Contrac's gonna come to an end. Now what
do you do? Well, you get this young safety checks
all the boxes. Four three eight speed coming downhill. All
the physical trades are there, man, and they love him
in the box. Yeah, yeah, I think you know everyone

(20:11):
was upset about the Jamal Adams trade. Well, here you go.
This is the guy that is this is a this
is a guy that's gonna come in and fill that
void and do it perfectly. Be able to cover tight ends,
cover running backs when need be. Especially with Mike McDonald's
defense and how he hides things and just confuses quarterbacks offenses.
It's gonna be cool to see how he uses them

(20:31):
in the packages that they use him well.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
And they already have someone who could they kind of
do that with. And Devins well, you can never have
enough enough. That's saying you never exactly. And he's more
of a big he's big six plays.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
It so the big nickel. Now, you could easily slide
him in pretty much anywhere on that defense and say
make plays. All right, here we go. We're going to
now go to the phone. Mason Richmond. Mason Richmond, First off.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Can you hear me?

Speaker 7 (20:58):
Sure?

Speaker 8 (20:58):
I can hear you, Chris, Welcome to Seattle, man, I've
got our media here to shoot some questions about you.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
Okay, good, let's talk to him.

Speaker 9 (21:06):
Mason, out of everything that you accomplished and did in college,
what are you most proud of?

Speaker 7 (21:12):
You shouldn't call it, sorry, yep.

Speaker 9 (21:14):
What are you most proud of? Out of everything that
you accomplished? And I'm thinking about the number of games
you played and started?

Speaker 7 (21:20):
Yeah, honestly, playing one game, what's the most the coolest
thing I've ever done? That first game, the first start
I got, like I was just such a pretiguous program,
especially for Alliance, so I was honored to be able
to play. It's just a teenager, a scrinding little teenager
that didn't know what he was doing and just trying
to do his best for the team. So you know,
for me that that first starts one of the coolest
moments I've had and probably the most most significant accomplished

(21:44):
accomplishment I've had. Excuse me, Not many guys get to
start once, and I've got to start a lot of times.
But it all started with that one.

Speaker 8 (21:50):
Mason.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
You've played all those games that tackle, but the Seahawks
have listened you as a guard.

Speaker 10 (21:54):
What type of exposure do you have to that position
and how do you feel like that transition is going.

Speaker 7 (21:59):
To go I think I can transition to any position, honestly.
Like you know, I've been working on a lot of
interior stuff all spring, but obviously have thousands of thousands
of reps at tackle. And you know, I've been telling anybody,
like I'll play train, I'll play a little tight end too,
Like I can catch the ball too. So whatever position
they want me to play to help the team win,
that's all that mattered to me. So, you know, whatever

(22:19):
coach Bettan and the rest of the staff want me
to do, all do did you practice at.

Speaker 8 (22:22):
All at gar or whoever? Was the first time you
started training at gar?

Speaker 7 (22:27):
Uh first time? So I came into the University of
Iowa and trained it, trained at left guard for that
entire freshman season during COVID, and so I got my
first exposure there. And then you know, in the past
couple of years, I've sporadically got a little bit reps
here and there when guys go down or anything, and
you know, just just trying to do whatever I can,
you know, just get a little balance and you know,

(22:49):
just really excited just to be whatever position they want
me to play. No, I was not sure.

Speaker 5 (22:55):
No, I was a.

Speaker 7 (22:55):
Defensive end and at tight end.

Speaker 8 (22:58):
You what do you think is the strongest part of
your game.

Speaker 7 (23:02):
I think my ability to respond. Honestly, Like, even if
you know I have a bad rep, which everyone does,
everyone gets got at some point. There's nobody's perfect in
this life other than Jenius Christ himself. But you know,
for me, it's it's my ability to respond. You know,
if I have a bad play, one bad rep, I
don't let it get the best of me and I
try to just you know, move on to the next play,
because the next most important play is that next play

(23:23):
that's happening or the one that is currently happening obviously,
So you know, my ability respond, I'd say that's my most,
you know, best best trait.

Speaker 8 (23:30):
Mason was like just.

Speaker 4 (23:31):
Getting that phone call over there, I mean, I'm not
gonna lie.

Speaker 7 (23:35):
I was getting down to the last six there, and
you know, I just had to had to actually believe
that it was true. You know, someone gets on the
phone and I'm worried about a prank call or something
that guys get prank call nowadays, it was it was great,
is able, and which I think is hilarious. I've been
telling people I trained with great teammates and you know
a few of them up there in Minneapolis, and you know,

(23:57):
he's he's been a great player. It seemed like a
university and my dream was always to play for an issue.
But you know, anyways, like just hearing hearing, you know
that I'm gonna be a Seahawk, and then I heard
everyone cheer in the background. Then I knew it was real.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
So that was the biggest thing.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
And now you know, phone blowing up and everything. But
you know, I'm justly excited to be a Seahawk. That's
the biggest thing.

Speaker 10 (24:15):
What type of communication did you have with the Seahawks
and the pre draft process if.

Speaker 7 (24:19):
Any Yeah, so, you know, Seahawks they sent out survey
of some sorts for me to fill out for you know,
personal information, and then other than that they had, uh
you know, I had an interview with coach and coach
outon with the Seahawks, and you know, I think that
went well. That was on Tuesday this past week and
then today and you know, up in Tuesday, I guess

(24:40):
I should have known. Man, it was just God putting
you know, the signs in front of me and you know,
showing me my path. But like they kept texting me
and calling me and you know, telling me they wanted
me to be a seahawk and everything. So you know,
just really exciting stuff from that, and you know, it's
just just really a blessing to be in this opportunity.

Speaker 11 (24:59):
You mentioned the Revius Iowa offensive lineman.

Speaker 9 (25:03):
Have you been in touch with any of them or
who has taken you under their wing during this process?

Speaker 7 (25:09):
Yeah? I mean, you know, I keep in touch with
the ones I play with, you know, even if they're
not in the AFL or anything, they're all They're all
my guys. But you know, NFL wise, like Kyler Linderbaum,
I was working with him just the other day on Monday. Uh,
not this half Monday, but the one before that, and
you know, getting reps in with him and you know, mental, raps, physical,
just working at that was just working the center right

(25:30):
and learn from him as much as I can. And uh,
you know, when Christian works or anyone like that comes back,
I always try to pick their brains about what it's
like playing on line in the NFL, and you know,
just learn from them as much as I can just
to be the best player I can be.

Speaker 9 (25:42):
Have any of those conversations changed the ways that you
prep or approach a game.

Speaker 7 (25:48):
Uh No, I don't think so. I think I've been
kind of my own journey and you know, going at it,
you know, in my own way and using people like
my position coach at Iowa, coach George Bournette. You know,
he showed me a lot coach parents, you know, coach parents,
always working with the tackles and just figuring out what
what was the best you know, drills and technique for
us to use for each each different block that we
have in a game, you know, because there's a lot

(26:09):
of them. But you know he's relying on his coaches
and then you know, my own instincts more than anything.
But you know, if those guys had something that you
know was carrying over, then you know, maybe I learned
it from that one repid practice.

Speaker 8 (26:21):
So you were you surprised that it was great calling
you and not a coach or.

Speaker 7 (26:24):
What he did what he did say, I you know,
I pick up any number, you know in this process,
and it said Washington on it. So I'm like, this
could be someone for Miami or it could be someone
for Seattle.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
You know, you never know.

Speaker 7 (26:37):
The coaches sadly have to bounce around these days.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
Too.

Speaker 7 (26:39):
But then it's like the deep voice and it's like, hey,
maybe you know I can't even do it. I could,
I would do it. I would butcher a northern accent
or something.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
You know.

Speaker 7 (26:49):
But he's like, this is great. Able here to tell you.
You know, I'm excited for you to be a Seahawk.
And I'm like, well, how is that gonna go? And
you know, I didn't know. I didn't know if it
was you know, they're signing me or something. He's like,
we're about to pick.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
You two thirty four.

Speaker 7 (27:01):
Said all right, I'll watch for it. And you know,
as I'm on the phone, I just realized it's slowly
becoming more and more real and just just so awesome
to have. And you know, other than that, it's just
been cool.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
It's been cool.

Speaker 7 (27:12):
But you know, hearing that, you know, that wasn't what
I expected. I don't know I saw i'd hear from
my agent or someone else. But the first person I
hear is great disabled, which is so funny. We've been
so connected over this whole process in my mind for
some reason, so great Gray.

Speaker 10 (27:25):
I said he was going to celebrate his pick with
some bush lights. Do you have any plans for your celebration.

Speaker 7 (27:30):
Uh yeah, so I'll raise him one. I'm gonna do
a Miller like because that's that's my go to beer nowadays.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
So you know, maybe maybe one day when.

Speaker 7 (27:37):
He matures a little bit, he'll grow up.

Speaker 8 (27:39):
Drink book too.

Speaker 7 (27:40):
When I'm used to drink bosh like too.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
When I was a young link.

Speaker 8 (27:46):
The first thing you said disabled was well, gonna.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
Go yeah, all right, said, how's that?

Speaker 7 (27:52):
You know something like that?

Speaker 4 (27:53):
I just I you don't know it.

Speaker 7 (27:55):
It's all happens, man, and you know it's a crazy process,
and you know, the doubt starts creeping then. I know
a lot of guys felt that today. But you know what,
you know, thanks thanks to God today I got my opportunity.
So I'm just really excited to be a deal off.

Speaker 8 (28:07):
So you were prepared to sign as an undrafted and
you even talked to agent about that yet.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
Or no, No, I've been just ghosting and talking to
my family about other stuff in life. I guess everything,
but being a football player, you know, they're just sitting
around and eating some food and you know, having a
good time over here.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
And I didn't drink any mill.

Speaker 7 (28:26):
Of life before. I was only gonna have one if
I got drafted. So that's all I'm gonna do.

Speaker 8 (28:30):
Are you back home in Kansas or where are you?

Speaker 7 (28:33):
Yes, sir, I'm in Kansas, Yes, sir, Leewood suburb of
a suburb.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (28:40):
And why how have you gotten to know Gray so
well through this process?

Speaker 2 (28:43):
You mentioned?

Speaker 7 (28:45):
No, I haven't. I just I've worked out with his teammates,
so I've heard things about him, and you know, he
sounds like a great guy. And everything I've heard is
he works out. I know he likes I've seen I
think you've been on my Facebook suggested friends, so maybe
that's something down but uh, I think it's like a
picture of him hunting or fishing or something, so I
know he's outdoors. Guys, they've got to show me the
ropes about that.

Speaker 8 (29:05):
You said your goal was to play at North Dakota State.
Did you sign with Iowa?

Speaker 11 (29:11):
What did you want her?

Speaker 7 (29:12):
I know I signed with Iowa. They gave me a
four right scholarship in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 8 (29:17):
Yeah, your dream was in North Dakota State?

Speaker 4 (29:19):
What was that They win?

Speaker 7 (29:21):
Man, That's all I care about is winning football game.
So but you know, I think I think other guys
who maybe go to NBSU would choose Iowa too. You know,
I know coach Paul seconds well up there, but you know,
IWA's been a great, great place to be for me,
and I've grown so much as a man there and
can't can't take those coaches and players enough for you
know what they've done for me and and you know
through me, I hope I can just represent them the

(29:42):
best way. And you have your degree, right, yes, sir,
I have two degrees Sports communications, Sports management. Yeah, sports
sports and recreation management. So you know we'll put that
on holes for a while and just focused on being
a football player for now.

Speaker 8 (29:58):
What's your second degree.

Speaker 7 (29:59):
In the same thing gets from the masters?

Speaker 6 (30:01):
Man?

Speaker 8 (30:02):
Oh, you got your masters?

Speaker 2 (30:03):
All right?

Speaker 7 (30:04):
Yes, they're hopefully gets me a raised one day way
down the road.

Speaker 8 (30:10):
Just out of curiosity. Have you done any snapping as
a center at all?

Speaker 7 (30:14):
Yees there? Every day I do positions, I do snap.
Can't say one thing. This is the best run media
thing I've ever been a.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
All right, there he is the Seahawks new office, the
tackle Mason Richmond out of Iowa State.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Man, you cut him off as he was giving us compliments.
It's the best run media thing. I got that in there.
That that was in there.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
But the funny thing that caught me off gard was
he said, I don't mind catching passes quite tight end.
My man is six five, three oh seven, but that yeah,
big dude, that's a big tight end. So hey, you
heard it here. He wants to do it, get it
taken care of, maybe get him a touchdown. But again,
you just listened to that. That was off the tackle.
Mason bridgemanth of Iowa State, talking to the choke would say,

(30:59):
media ward, I'm gonna take a quick break here and
we'll come back with more draft coverage. You're listening to
Christopher Kidd Anderson Hurst as we are alive at the
Virginia Mason Athletic Center. There we go on ninety three
point three kjr FM.

Speaker 8 (31:17):
Welcome to the NFL Draft.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Now back to the Virginia Mason Athletics Center and the
twenty twenty five NFL Draft and brought to you by
Cores Light, by R and R Foundation specialist the Queen
Anne Beer Hall, and by Fox thirteen on Sports Radio
ninety three point three kJ r FL.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
There you have it. You're listening to twelfth Man Draft coverage.
Christopher Kidd alongside Anderson Hurst and can't forget j Mac
Jessamin mcj Max. Yeah, I'm in the house. A lot
of J Max out there there is I'll come up
with somebody else. All this is all brought to you
by Cores Light, R and R Foundation Specialist, the Queen

(31:58):
Ann beer Hall and Fox thirty teen. Do you guys
missed it? We'll probably play it back later. Maybe what
do you guys think Mason Richmond at Iowa State has
to catch some touchdowns? Okay, that was the one thing
that How about the fact that Gray's Abel is going
to call him?

Speaker 3 (32:12):
That's awesome?

Speaker 5 (32:13):
That is that's pretty fun knowing that they have that
stronger relationship already and they both have fantastic personalities to
listening to them.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
That's gonna be a fun position group this year.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Absolutely competitive.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Can I say that?

Speaker 3 (32:25):
I know now now it makes me think, oh, was
there maybe a little bit of influence from mister Zabel
is in the house.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
He is in the building. I mean what I mean,
I don't know if he has that much power quite yeah,
but but it might be uh they might have asked
him about.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Well, yeah, it's just like, hey, what do you think
about this guy.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
As I asked Anderson this question, what was the most
surprising thing to you in this twenty twenty five draft
the Seahawks for the seat Really, well, those are two
very separate things. I'm surprised they didn't know why we're here.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
I'm surprised they didn't draft a defensive back at all.
To be honest, I just thought that they would cornerback.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Sorry my bed, Yeah, I know that.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Considering they do have talent there and everything, I thought
they would have added a little bit more depth. That
is the most surprising thing. Everything else was like, yeah,
there was There was not one pick that came through
where I think we all have these moments when it
comes to this regime where we go huh.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Oh or also the.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
In the early round.

Speaker 5 (33:33):
No, they drafted what was Chuck's analogy was, you know,
they have drafted this and everything. He's like, they drafted
the socks and the underwear and the stocking, you know,
like the basics that you need, and they did not.
I think they got exactly who they wanted. My favorite
pick it was when they when they when they traded

(33:54):
up for and Worry. I'm sorry em and Worry, but
I love that knew exactly who they wanted. They saw
the opportunity and they traded that big time to get them.
I mean, they didn't sacrifice a ton. But oh, it
sounds like we're gonna hear from someone or yeah, actually
that would be him.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Yes, we're gonna go to it all right now, you
white the third with the media hoard.

Speaker 8 (34:16):
You here, they're ready to ask you a few questions.

Speaker 9 (34:19):
We'll get it going now, that's truey, congratulations.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
What did it mean to get that call.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
From the Seahawks?

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Seeddi, youm so I came.

Speaker 11 (34:29):
What did it mean to get that call from the Seahawks?

Speaker 4 (34:33):
It meant so much. I'm just blessed to get this
another opportunity. Well day for the beer, and I can't
wait to take down to Seattle and getting worry a sup.

Speaker 11 (34:43):
It sounds like you got a house full of people there.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Who's with you?

Speaker 4 (34:47):
Everybody's saying the friends, You're been having a great time,
been watching the drafts and uh Thursday, you know, waiting
to get this phone call. So I'm just thankful that
I got it today.

Speaker 11 (34:57):
Was it nerve wracking at all for you? Waiting to
get it?

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Definitely was? I had literally conversations with my agents so
many times She's trying to get the updates and him.
You know, so, like I said, there was a blessing
just to receive it. You know that car that from
the Seahawks, Ricky, What kind of.

Speaker 11 (35:14):
Player are the Seahawks in the beginning?

Speaker 4 (35:18):
They getting a smart player, someone that gonna come in
and compete a dog when we're gonna come in and
work every day, we're gonna give it one hundred and
ten percent. Somebody that want to win, Ricky, h he to.

Speaker 10 (35:31):
Talk to you all about any returning as well as receiving.
Did he have to talk to you all about any
like return game stuff in addition to being a receiver.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
No, not not yet, but you know, I'm definitely gonna
be on special teams. You know, I want to be
on all special teams and stuff. It's I'm able to
do that just help my team win and being a receiver.

Speaker 8 (35:53):
Also, what stage did you bring that having four black
pints last year? Why did you wh the key was you?
Do you have any four black conchlast years?

Speaker 4 (36:04):
Really just on one two some mentality that come behind that,
just having that saddiness and going out there competing. Uh,
and and actually having those those techniques and details being
being being close to you and applying it to a games.
So I want to think my first teams coordinated a
UNV coach James Sheeves. He just taught me so much

(36:24):
and you know, took the game and ran with it,
tied it to my game.

Speaker 8 (36:27):
Hey, Rick, can you tell us about, uh, the way
you improved your for the time from the combine.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
To your pro dain literal literally the same things, same
man's technique in details. I got the chance to work
with a coach named Larry Wade in Vegas. Uh, he
just taught me so much in those two weeks and
after when I looked the combine and leading up to
my my pro dain UNFV. You know, we worked every
day of the week. They come come out pro dain.

(36:55):
You know I applied the things that he taught me.
You know, you know, improved my forty.

Speaker 8 (37:00):
That was a speed coach. You said, yes, sir, how
much conversation had you had with the Seahawks through the
draft process here? Did you think that they were a
team that was really looking.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
At yet that I've talked to the receiver coach a lot.
He told me he loved my game, and you know
the rest of the staff, I loved me as a player.
My character was good, and you know just how I
play on the field. You know who I am on
and out the field. So I definitely have to talk
with Seattle Seahawks, and I'm thankful and I'm just being
able to be a part of that organization.

Speaker 11 (37:31):
Which wide receivers do you enjoy watching most? And maybe
who did you pad in your game.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
After in the lead period from the Seattle Seahaps.

Speaker 11 (37:41):
Well, if you got Seahawks Nams, that's even better. But
I'll take anybody.

Speaker 4 (37:45):
Man. So in college jack Smith and Inger was a
great receiver. Just applying those teams that he did in
college around the time I was in college applied to
my game. You know, you always can learn and applied
tham to your game.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
But you know guys in the league use Jefferson, Mary Cooper,
a lot of guys. You know, there's a lot of
great receiver that you can marry. A gay mouth fuss
just added added to your game and you know, become
better as a player.

Speaker 8 (38:14):
Well, with that in mind, what does it mean to
you to be Jackson's teammate?

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Now?

Speaker 4 (38:18):
Yeah, it's a great piton. Go go out there, you know,
help him win win games, help the rest of the
team win games, and just you know, bring the best
out of him for sure, like I hope he'll bring
the best out of me.

Speaker 8 (38:31):
Good congrats.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
All right, another young one, another rookie. I can say
that now, I'm old. I shut up. You're not your baby.
This is not gosh. That comes off so wrong when
I say it now that I think about, because just
looks at me with those piercing eyes and like, excuse me,
and what did you just say to me? AnyWho? My apologies?
That was Ricky right, the third from u n LV

(38:57):
wide receiver, seventh round pick. Still waiting to see if
John Shuter has anything up his sleeve, but just looks
to be it just a couple of drafts and we're
in the compensatories now. So hey, I hear you. You
never know, you do, never know. We're done here. It's
all good. It's been great out here at the Sea York.
It's not done yet. So again we'll I'll briefly go

(39:18):
over the entire draft slate so far. All right, kick
things off. They get center slash guard Gray's Abel out
of North Dakota State, followed up by Nick say his
name again, Jess, I'm and worry.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
There we go?

Speaker 4 (39:32):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (39:33):
Emon Warriy Yeah, sh off guard safety. Second round thirty thirty,
fifth overall. Staying in the second round, they drafted Elijah
Arroyo fiftieth pick. The accent there, I felt like throwing
that in there. Okay, tight end, by the way, no
relation to Carlos. Oh you did. Yeah, I'm not going
to lie. That was the first thing I tried to
look up to see if there's a relation. Yeah, didn't

(39:54):
find anything, so probably not. Third round ninety two overall,
Jalen Milroe, Prize of the track. If they got a quarterback,
shout out to the Seahawks for doing that, that's really cool.
Staying at fifth or going to the fifth round. Excuse
me at one two. Riley Mills defensive tackle. So they're
adding some big boys up up front to join Leonard Williams,
Byron Murphy, Jay Reed.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
Okay, cool.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Fifth round one sixty six, Torry Holton Horton, excuse me
out of Colorado State again. Earlier in the show, Anderson
and myself we talked about briefly his impact against Colorado
and how effective he was. I think he had over
ten catches.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
Yep, he was.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
He gets up for those games. It seems like he
gets against a really good team.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
He does not back down well, especially playing in the
Mountain West, Like you don't get many chances to play
in national televis game. So when he played against Colorado
against Dion and Schaudur and Travis Hunter at the time,
he I think a lot of those catches were against
Travis Hunter as well.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
I want to go back and watch the tape. Yeah,
I think all of them were on young Traow. But
that just shows how talented he is. Doing that to
the number two overall pick in the twenty twenty five draft.
I don't know if you heard, though, we also had
Clay Millan on earlier today.

Speaker 7 (41:02):
I did.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
I was dropping in here, Sonny. He was thrown to
him that game. Yeah, so it was really cool to
kind of hear him say like he could have gone
and been like one of the better receivers in the
SEC even but he decided to stay home at Colorad's
state put up those great numbers. I think the only
thing that man fell was this injury last year. So
hopefully that's all good.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
To go.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
He still ran at four to four one in the
forty and he even said he ran faster than that
four three five after that, go ahead and talked that talk,
young fellows. Yeah, staying in the fifth round one seveney.

Speaker 2 (41:31):
Five over, we're all we got Robbie Oots full back
slash tight end, but we're we're gonna be a full back,
you know. Yeah, drop the t and put the f
b okay, and then sixth round one Bryce Cable do
all right out of Kansas. Nasty name. Sounds like he's
going to be just a problem on the offensive line.

(41:51):
Aren't there some names where you're like you had to
be an athlete.

Speaker 3 (41:54):
On offensive line?

Speaker 2 (41:55):
If you're yes, sorry, Mason Richmond, you don't pick just
like Robbie Oots is.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
The most fullback name of all time.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
Oh yeah, I couldn't get more full back.

Speaker 3 (42:03):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Going to the seventh round two twenty three overall Damian Martinez.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
Out of the U.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
But he also previously was at Ogan States os U,
So I know a lot of people were pissed when
he decided to throw up the duces to them, but
maybe a little bit a bigger bag was available at
the U.

Speaker 5 (42:22):
YEP, seems to be well, Oregon State's in a precarious situation,
just as Washington State is, so they're going to get
picked apart.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
Yeah, a lot going on a lot. Then, as I
mentioned earlier, Mason Richmond, who wants to catch touchdowns, I'm
gonna leave it at that seventh round thirty four is
open to that.

Speaker 5 (42:39):
He kind of reminds me of And I know that
we keep talking about Noah Fan, but George Fan, you
know way back by now seventy four reporting is eligible
that that whole situation.

Speaker 2 (42:48):
Really, I could see them using him that if Mason
is able to make the team. Byron Murphy, Oh, Mason Richmond,
Mason Richmond.

Speaker 3 (42:56):
Yeah, they're not throwing Byron Murphy on offense. And I
was guarantee it. I'll I wish they would. Okay, fair enough,
all right, I think the real question is who catches
one first? Hme, are Robbie oots Now? They might have
a career of like three catches. It's what I'm saying.
It's just one of those things where bro dude, he
even said, like, would you rather catch a touchdown or
throw a block? He said block?

Speaker 2 (43:16):
That's why past past, That's why they drafted him for
that reason. In the last I can't say the last pick,
the most recent pick, seventh, round two, thirty eight, Ricky White,
the third wide receiver out of u n l V
University of Las Vegas, Sin City. He's not gonna like
the weather up here for a few months. I'm not
gonna lie to you. So on fall he's probably been like, bro,

(43:37):
this is insane with some chargia so even more so.
But he spent how many years was he?

Speaker 3 (43:42):
Are you and the double check here? Is it three?
Or did he transfer in? Because I know to president Okay,
he was in Michigan State for one year and then
the last three years he was at UNLV.

Speaker 4 (43:53):
Got it.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
So that is the class as it stands right now.
Eleven picks in total is the math checking you count
them up?

Speaker 3 (44:01):
Yeah, we got eleven shore We went in with ten,
came out with eleven. The magic, yep, the magic. Even
after trading up at a round two pick thirty five,
they ended up kind.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
Of still getting getting some more back bites at the
apple if they say huh.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
Oh yeah, especially the later rounds. I think that's I
have a weird feeling that this is kind of the
time that John Schneider thrives on like the sixth seventh
round and even the undrafted times. He almost like lights
that more than the first couple of rounds, where you know,
a lot of chalk happens. Yeah, but uh, okay, so
we heard Jess's favorite pick. What about your favorite pick,

(44:34):
mister Christopher Kidd? I'll double up Jail mirroll again.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
How could it not be? Man, Damn, you really like that.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
I like it. Just already have a quarterback. Huh, you
already have a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (44:44):
Okay, but it's for the future, as you keep telling
me on and on and off the year. Yeah, it's
only a two year deal for Sam, So that stinks.
Guess what, Well, if that's the case, you have a
project and development Yep, I think he Sorry, No, you're fine.
That's the biggest thing, right Everyone has been clamoring for
When are you guys gonna take a quarterback? When are
you guys gonna get the guy for the future. Well,

(45:06):
now they have it, Yeah, and I think he'll pick Yeah.
As I was talking to personnel with the Seahawks, he
was saying, Mike McDonald's gonna have so much fun with
this because of the packages they can put him in.
Teams have to game plan for him. Now, even if
it's just seven plays, those are seven plays you have
to prepare for because if the Seahawks run them, you're
not it could be a touchdown. And he didn't like

(45:27):
flat out say it in his phone call yesterday, but
I almost got the vibe that he knows he's coming
in as a project and he's not going to be
a starter in day one, And I love that.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
I love that attitude.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
But you know what if he comes in and he's
training his butt off, Yeah, he comes in and still
the spotlight. Yeah, there's no reason why he couldn't start
week one.

Speaker 3 (45:44):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (45:44):
I don't know if that'll be the I don't think
that will taste. But I'm looking ahead to twenty twenty six,
seven eight, that's what they're eyeing. And for the two
quarterbacks have been drafted two yeah, two Alex McGoo and
Russ and Russell Wills the third and he's the third.

Speaker 3 (46:02):
That's huge. Are you surprised that this is the year
they did it?

Speaker 2 (46:06):
That's a great question. I have to go look at
the next class to see, like who the names are
because I'm.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
From previous years too, like there's well, yes, so many
chances to draft, yes, and so many, but.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
I think there were just so many underlying issues last season.
I wouldn't want them to draft the quarterback with that
old line.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Yeah, get the guy killed, yeah, knowing what I know,
even like kind of similar situation. You have a Sam
Darnold when you had you know Smith, but you learned
from under it.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
But you see now, but learn to get killed. Gino
is out there running for his life. Yeah he had
me and you block him.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
It's not good enough, but I think that's a better
like okay, but now you know, takes the hits, but
you learn how to be a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
But see, I like the foundation they're building. Yeah, they're
putting pieces. Gray's Abel seems to be a really good
puzzle piece. Yeah, to helping Sam play the way he
did last season, if not better.

Speaker 3 (46:53):
Yeah, And that's my other question to you, he's surprised
they went guard first round or offensive line first round?

Speaker 2 (46:59):
Because I was a little just because that's it could
be quote unquote the reach depending on how it plays out.

Speaker 3 (47:07):
I won't know, well, especially considering how often and like
we always hear the Jona Shanner quote about how guards
are overdrafted.

Speaker 2 (47:14):
But see to his point, he's not out here doing
it every year, right, he just hasn't got the right
one whenever he gets them. Christian Haynes hasn't really panned
up the way they wanted to.

Speaker 3 (47:22):
It's not over for him.

Speaker 2 (47:23):
But where they took him, you plad rookie year, so
I but where you took him you want him to
be starting? Not a question, not a oh yeah, well
he can sit a year. No, that's what they did
with Milrow. Yeah, you're gonna sit a year, learn behind
the one, at least learn, use you in packages, show
off your athleticism, all of that. That's great, but you're

(47:46):
too Okay, Now we're okay. This is a QB battle.
Who's going to take the spot out? I think he
has the opportunity to do so. Sure, there's a lot
of things he have to work on. I get that,
but I just see the vision of what they're trying
to do, and for so long that has been the
big question.

Speaker 3 (47:58):
So that's my favorite, like the sweet spot at like
kind of the third round ish area, because you can
do that with the fifth, sixth, seventh round pick, and
a lot of the times those guys that are left
are not all of the talent to be starting quarterbacks
in the NFL, and usually the first round picks of
the guys that you know you you draft to start
right away. So like the second third round area is

(48:19):
the area where like, okay, you have the talent to
be a starter, but maybe you're not quite ready yet.
And that's I think that's why. It's a perfect kind
of area where you still got your your pieces to
fill up for the team now in the first couple
of rounds, and then you get a third round for
your quarterback of the future.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
So I love it, love it, love it, love it. Well,
look we are going to take a quick break. We'll
come back with more. I don't want to say post
draft coverage because it ain't over yet. I haven't heard
the fat Lady singing nor never want me to get
up there? Okay, I don't know what say to that.
I just love making your feel. Any response that I

(48:53):
might make is going to have me in a closed
room getting yelled at and like, oh my god, why
to do that? So you are listening to the twelfth
