Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to Side Hustlers. My name is Carla Marie.
This is episode twenty seven, which is crazy to me.
I appreciate you being here, whether this is your first
episode or your seven. UM. I did want to start
off with an email about this week's gas, but before
I get into that, I do need to tell you
that if you can subscribe, rate, or review this podcast,

(00:21):
that would be awesome. I know it sounds super weird
to ask you to do that, but recently found out
that that makes a huge difference in other people finding
out about this podcast, so that's always helpful and I
appreciate it very very much. So this week's email says, Hi,
Carla Marie, I just found out about your amazing podcast
from Danielle mentioning it on Elvis Durand in the morning show.

(00:43):
I immediately started tuning in and love it. I love
the attention you're bringing to people living their passion and
the inspiration and encouragement. My incredible sister, Melissa Scanlan has
a side hustle of her own, and I wanted to
bring your attention with hopes of connecting you too. She's
a busy mom of two, a five year old ended
two year old and started her own skin Caroline Flair

(01:04):
three three three. Melissa has been passionate about essential oils
and incorporating them in her everyday life for years. Thus
Flair three three three was born. She worked so hard
in the nooks and crannies of her busy life that
I just had to shout her out to you. If
you'd like to take a look at all that she's created.
Her website is Flair three three dot com. She of
course has no idea that I'm sending you this, but hey,

(01:26):
here's hoping a new friendship is made. And that is
from Jessica for a lot of people. You know, why
are you? When? Do you know what you want to do?
And this is what you want to do? Do it.
I'm a hustles side side hustle do it. I'm a
hustles side sign huslo do it. I'm a hustles side
side slow. I'm a hustles side. It's a slow I'm

(01:48):
a hustles side side hustlow. Come on ask about me,
yo yo. It's the side Hustless Podcast. Okay, So that
obviously means this week's asked is Melissa? Hi? Melissa? Hi?
So is that so happy. Is that actually the first
time that you heard that email or did your sister say, Hey,

(02:09):
I'm going to email this girl and I'm gonna get
you on her podcast. No, I had no idea that
she was emailing you. I think I was that email
was copied when she connected us. Yeah, so I saw
it then. But you know it makes me cry. Please
can's so amazing. I think so grateful. I think you
might be the first person to cry on this podcast.

(02:30):
So yeah for that. So you have an incredible story
and I want to make sure we tell it the
right way. And I love what you're doing. I think
you're actually our first skincare person on the podcast, which
is cool. So I'm gonna have a lot of like
skincare questions for you. And you did send over some
of your products to me and I'm using them for
two days and I'm already obsessed and you're just there's

(02:54):
just so much I want to get into. So first,
let's talk about flair three three am I saying it right,
It's perfect, nailed it? Yes, okay, So if you're if
you want to check out what the heck we're talking
about right now, it's spelled f l EU are and
then it's three dot com or on Instagram it's f
l eu are three three three skin, so you can

(03:16):
follow along as we talk about what Melissa does. So
every time I hear essential oils, the first thing I
think is the little things that you can put in
the humidifier or whatever. But I wasn't thinking skincare essential oils.
So tell me about it. Oh, there's so much that
you tell me with essential oils. And I like to

(03:37):
think of them as medicine. And it's the essence or
the soul, or the immune system or the life force
of the plant. So when you're using them, you're bringing
that plant into your space and you can bring it
into your body, and it truly is medicine. It's energy healing.
And there are so many different ways you can use them.

(03:57):
I know that people are even starting to use them,
and you can ingest them. If you could put lemon
in your water, you can put grape fruit in your water.
You could put lavender right on your pimple, put rosemary
on any pimple. I have a pimple right now. I've
been putting frankincents on it like three times a day. Um.
I used them on my babies. I put them in

(04:18):
their bath. I diffuse them, I mean spray them. Yeah,
I did not even realize that there were all the
things you can do. So you sent me the rope.
I don't want to get a wrong the rose pedal oil.
So the oil. Yeah, it's just the oil, just and
it has rose in it. Yes, okay, one of the
first ingredients. And the toner and the rose toner. When

(04:40):
I said, You'm like, okay, so what do I do
with this oil? And you told me, I use it
as a cleanser. You use it as a moisturizer. You
use it for everything, for everything. So I use it
to wash my face. And when I do that, I
went a wash cloth, I went my face. I put
it on the washcloth and I kind of massage my face.
You know, you could use so fuller emotions and just

(05:01):
yeah and think about like intention, I think is so
powerful with everything you do. So when you're doing it,
like I always want to think about loving myself and
loving my body and you know, just good positive vibes
that you're just putting into yourself through your own touch
and then rents and then you can use it as
a moisturizer. On top and then your body. I use

(05:22):
it on my body, well, I feel like my skin
is no joke, already glowing after two days, and I'm like, oh,
I love this stuff. I do want to rub it
all over my whole body. So thank you for sending
appreciate it. Love the packaging and all of that, and
I want to get more into that later and how
you design and and everything. But let's go back to
I guess when you first just dove into essential oil.

(05:44):
So you you say that is when you officially started
the company, and you will we're working full time as
a personal assistant. Then, but when did you fall in
love and start, you know, being passionate about essential oils?
Probably about ten years ago. So I was going through
this this very important stage where I just started realizing
that a lot of what I had in my house

(06:06):
was toxic. So it actually started with cleaning products and
I started using them for cleaning. And actually one of
the first companies that I started with the friend, was
making cleaning products, and that didn't go very far, Like
it was very soon after that that I started using
them on my skin and in other ways, and it

(06:28):
just didn't feel right. I was like Okay, this isn't it? Like,
I don't want to make cleaning things like there. I
think that's really important and it's a way that you
can incorporate them in your life. I was like, but
there's so much more than that, So that just I
stopped that. I kept learning and using them on my skin,
and then when I had children and my children's skin,

(06:50):
and I started sharing things with friends and family, and
eventually just involved evolved into what it is now. So
when you were a personal assistant, and can we talk
about who you were a personal assistant for because it's
pretty awesome you can. Okay, So Kevin Connally, you know
him as E from Entourage? Um, how you were with
him for eight years? For a long time? Yeah, that

(07:11):
is crazy. I'm assuming it was during the like the
high times of Entourage as well. It was, and it
was super fun, and I feel like, you know, when
I was living it and actually in the moment working
for him, I don't think I appreciated how special that was.
So just looking back, I'm so grateful that I had
that opportunity. And Kevin has always been so good to me.

(07:33):
He was amazing to work for, which is why I
was with him for eight years. Sure, yeah, I mean
that's rare that you I feel like here of that.
But you're so, I'm assuming it was your last year
with him. That's really when flour three three three took
off or became an official business. Obviously you loved, like
you said, Essential Oils for a while and you were
working with them, But when you officially launched the business
that he supported at all? Or was he helpful or

(07:56):
did it take away from your time with him? What
was that process? Like, I feel like he's always been
super supportive of whatever I've been doing. I actually I
had my daughter five years ago, and um, I think
it was at that point I started working for him,
maybe part time. Um, I don't remember when that transition happened,

(08:16):
but she came to work with me every Friday. So
how amazing is that? So even um like throughout my
pregnancy and having a child and being a working mom,
and he was always super supportive and so good to her.
And with the Essential Oils. I would make him sprays,
I would spray in my sprays house, I went to

(08:38):
fusers everywhere he was so yeah, it was that was fun.
So what was that first step though? For you? You
were still working with him to launching the business. You know,
it was just a dream that was slowly beginning to materialize.
And I founded it. I registered it as an LLC,

(09:02):
and that made me feel official, like I had the
website launched and um I started moving forward with it
that way in that first year. And then in two
thousand and sixteen, we got into Air one, which that's okay,
So that's a market in is it just llott or

(09:24):
is it just California? Where else is it? It's in
l A and they have four stores. So there's one
in Venice, they just opened one in Santa Monica, there's
one in Calabasas, and then West Hollywood. Okay, So I
saw the name of this place when you emailed me,
and I was like, how the heck do you say that?
And it's spelled e R E w h O n

(09:45):
and it's pronounced air one er one air one. I think, yeah,
that's how I pronounced it. So you so your product
is actually sold in these stores? So yeah, how did
you make that happen? That I that I just I
would go shopping in there for Kevin and I I'm obsessed.
I love shopping there. It's just such a great story.
They have the best stuff. And every time I went

(10:07):
in there, I would go to the beauty aisle and
I would literally just see Flair three three three on
the shelf and I talked to their employees and I
just really focused all of my energy there and I said,
this is one of my goals. And I don't have
a lot of goals, like so far, I've had one
major goal year and that was for the first year.
And I emailed, I called them and I said, who's

(10:30):
their buyer and it was Aaron at that time, and
she is just an Earth angel, Like this was amazing.
So I emailed her and she said, okay, send me
your product. And I sent it to her and she said, okay,
I love it. It's a great product. Let's do this.
And that was just wow kind of Yeah, it was
amazing and it was just the way things happened. It
just happened. And two thousand and sixteen, so we launched

(10:54):
an air Juan about the same time, maybe even the
same month that my son was born. Oh my god.
So that was that was such an exciting time. I
feel like, yeah, I was really excited and that's a
lot though. Yeah, it was, but it didn't feel a
like a lot. It didn't feel oils were keeping you calm.

(11:15):
I need I need to put them all over my apartment.
I think. Is I need to be as calm as
you were having a baby launching a business. I guess
leaving your full time job at that point because or
you were still with Kevin I laughed at that point
just left at that point, and your product was just
being sold in stores. I mean, what was that process
like of packaging and getting it to the store and

(11:36):
was it you know, you have to have a quicker
turnaround obviously than just selling online. Um, I just have
to give a shout out. The reason I'm calm is yes,
it's my oils. But I also have an amazing life
coach and her name is Michico Rolac, and that is
we can get into it maybe after I answer your question,
but that is the three three three and flair three
three three, and it is my work with her and

(11:59):
her tool is that she has taught me that. Really
that's how I stay calms about that. But so yeah,
so about getting the product to the store, because there
are a lot of people that I've talked to on
side hustlers who sell online and then think, Okay, I
want to go wholesale, but that's a lot for a

(12:19):
lot of people, and sometimes they don't want to do
that because they can't keep up. And this is still
a side hustle for some people. They have their regular
job and they can't leave that job or don't want
to leave that job, so they just like, you know,
doing the smaller work. But was it a lot different
than just selling online. You know, it's um not a
high volume store, so maybe there's about eight units of

(12:40):
the products that are in there per month, and that
would be like a really good month. So it's this
has been such a good road for me because it's
been totally manageable, Like it's not too much. Well, I
did sell. You post on Instagram that your dad was
visiting and you took him to the store to show
him the product on the shelf, and I was like,
it's so cool to you that no matter how old

(13:01):
we are, whether we're eight or thirty, we're still so
excited to show our parents what we're doing. And I
was like, Oh, that's awesome. That's super cool because you're
proud of what you're doing and you should be. I'm
so proud and just every time I go in the store,
I still get butterflies in my stomach. I'm like, that's
my company, super exciting. I'd be that person in this store.

(13:22):
That's when someone is looking at it, like, I totally
love that product. You should try it. That's that's where
I really need to work on being better. Sure you
can hire someone to do that. Some college didn't. I'll
pay you in meals. Just go tell people this product
is awesome. Okay. So I meant to ask you that
what the heck is the three three three? And I
did not realize that I was going to tie into

(13:43):
your life, coach, So tell me all about this. So
the three three three is, I guess um you could
call it a spiritual a lick, sir so um. And
it's developed by Mitchiko And it stands for the three
G which is grounded, grateful, gorgeous, which is mindful, pasture,

(14:04):
grateful heart, gorgeous spirit shining through. And then the three vs,
which is vision, voice, vibes, always trust your vibes right,
and the three cs is courage, clarity, and passion or
self compassion. Okay, So that's where three three three comes from.

(14:24):
It was she like ecstatic that you've started building your
company around something that she preaches. I hope though, because
she's been so she is, she's she's amazing, and she
is she's so inspiring, and she's been so supportive, and
I just have to say away into something else just
feels like a cool time to bring it up. But
on the day that you emailed me, I actually I

(14:47):
had a session with her and this was before I
read your email or anything. And she has this phrase
and the phrases called hustle and sparkle. So hustle is
like do the inner work, like be grounded, no grateful,
fearless confidence. And then the sparkle is the fearless confidence.
It's your soul shining through. Um. So we're creating this

(15:09):
product together and it's called Hustle and Sparkle. So that
was born on that day that you emailed me for
the Side Hustler podcast, and I was like, yes, Universe, Yes,
oh my god, oh yeah, I love it. I love
when things like that happened. I'm so excited though. It's
gonna be the official beauty product of this podcast. I've
named it already and it hasn't even launched yet, Yes,

(15:33):
and as soon as it's ready, I'm totally sending you on.
And that is like just a reminder to just do
the work and get out there and just do your
thing and be your best. But what is that product
going to be? What is hustle and sparkle? So it's
going to be a face and body spray and um,
it's made, it's going to be spring water, some mica

(15:54):
for some sparkles. Sparkles are always fun. And then the
essential oils are vanilla, lavender, rose, any langy lang. So um,
it's really sensual but also grounding and beautiful. It's such
a beautiful smell. And Michiko made that smell app that
was her recipe. Yeah, and it's just it's I can't

(16:15):
wait for everyone to try it. So you've just said
a bunch of different names of things that I was like,
I don't even wouldn't even know where to start, how
to spell those things, how to pronounce them on my own?
How did you Obviously this is a lot of studying
I'm assuming you've had to do on these different elixirs
and products and things that are in them. What kind

(16:36):
of work was like that, like for you to begin
this business. It doesn't feel like work because it's my
hobby or it's my passion. Like I have loved flowers
and nature and plants for as long as I can remember,
and I spent so much time in the woods or
even in my backyard just being being with nature, and

(16:58):
I would just mix like flower wers and I just yeah,
it's just something I've always loved. And I just read
everything that I can read, and um, I did go
to the California School of Herbal Medicine and I just
took a weekend class. But mostly I'm just it's all
self taught, Like that was just a weekend class, and

(17:19):
it's really I'm just learning through my experience and my
own application and from other people that are also doing it.
Like there's so many great books and there's more and
more scientific studies that kind of just back up what
people intuitively know already. Well, although that you have a hobby,
you've been practicing it forever, it's just something you've loved
and then you tried to branch out a little bit

(17:40):
by going to that that school and doing that weekend
program or class. Were you in that class thinking, Okay,
I know all of this or did you actually get
a lot from it? I definitely got a lot from it.
We made a lotion there and that was probably one
of the first times that I've made a lotion, so
je that was awesome and it branched out. Yeah, um

(18:04):
so yeah. I definitely learned a lot. There was some
stuff that I already knew, but I feel like every
time I hear something, even if it's something i've heard before,
I can hear it in a new way or or
listen to it and get something new from it. So
I I feel like there's always something new to learn.
Even if I think I already know, I probably don't

(18:26):
as much as I could. Absolutely, and that is a
great way to think about things, especially if you're side
hustling and starting a new business, or it's a hobby
that you want to grow into a business. A hobby
is one thing you know you don't have to do it,
but if you turn your hobby into a business and
that's going to be your means, you have to do it.
And some people end up hating it because they have

(18:47):
to do it. But it's important to kind of cover
all your bases so that you go into it knowing
all of the knowledge that you need to end branch
out one day, Like you're saying you never thought you'd
make a lotion. You went to this class, you learned
how to make a lotion, and you grow from there.
And that could go with anything. Doesn't have to be
if you're a guy listening right now and you're like,
what is happening. We're talking about oils and lotions. This

(19:08):
is not my thing. It's a business. And at the
end of the day, if your hobby is whatever it is,
you can apply it to any of these podcasts, even
this episode. Even if guys are like, what Rose Toner,
I have no idea what's going on? Hey, a lot
of men love it. I just want to say they should.
It's great for their skin. We need to give more
guys into it. Care. So one thing I like talking

(19:31):
about people because a lot of people on this podcast
are very new to side hustling. Now, in the grand
scheme of things, you're I guess business is older than
a lot of people who have been on this podcast. Um,
and it's only technically a little more than three years
old when you started two Now, what types of things

(19:55):
have you seen change in the world of having a
small business or business from your home, whether it's website
building or things like Instagram or and around stuff like that. Yeah,
I mean Instagram I think is a really cool tool
for small businesses and I'm still learning really how to
use that more efficiently myself. I think that really enables

(20:18):
people that are have a small business to get the
word out there themselves. So I think that's really cool,
and I see it growing and just more business opportunities
like popping up from Instagram, and it can connect you
to people that you might not otherwise meet. You can
follow along like, so I think that's a great tool.
It's super easy to build your own website. I use

(20:40):
square Space, but I know there are a ton of
other platforms, and that really is so helpful for an
entrepreneur just kind of doing it on their own. So
that's super cool. And as far as growing in those
three years, of the most work I've been doing is
on myself, like my own inner work, so I can
really stand behind my business and be the kind of

(21:04):
business owner that I want to be. So that's really
where a lot of my time has gone in the
last three years. And I'll probably always I will not
probably I will always dedicate a lot of times doing
the inner work because that is one of the most
important things for me. Absolutely. Do you have anyone that
has helped you or um currently helps you with flour?

(21:27):
Three three three. So my husband helps me with the labels.
He does a lot of the photoshop stuff. Is that
what he does as his day job? He does marketing,
so it's related. Yeah, and um, he definitely helps me
do that. That is it's so interesting working together in

(21:48):
that way. Yeah. So he designs it and then what happens.
It gets printed somewhere and then you stick it on.
How does that? I used to print it at home
and now I have I use a professional printer, and
that has made a huge difference because just the way
it looks like I want to, I want it to
look a certain way, and printing it at home it
just wasn't It wasn't there. So using a professional printer

(22:12):
that is definitely for me, that's been a worthwhile investment. Well,
the bottles are amazing. It's not like they are very
nice glass bottles, like from a consumer standpoint, and it's
someone who loves packaging and is a sucker for beautiful packaging.
I really love it. I was like, damn, this is like,
this is some good stuff. I've seen stuff that's mass

(22:33):
produced on shelves all over that like yours is ten
times better than that. And thank you. Yeah from that
kind of standpoint, good job, and tell your husband, I said,
also a good job, good job, honey, thank you. It's
like out there listening like what is happening? So he
helps you with the labeling, and you said, what is
that like working with him? Because they're very um for

(22:56):
lack of a better word, they're girly labels. There's flowers
on them. You know that's something we would equate with
being girly. Is he into that or is he like
what do you just tell me what to do and
I will do it. I wish that he would say that,
you know. I mean just last night we had like
like it's the best of the times and the worst
of the times because we butt heads a lot, Like

(23:17):
I'll tell him what I want and he will just
say it was like that's terrible, doesn't look good? Um,
I hate that fon like and then like, well, your
job is to help me bring my vision to life,
so can you please just do what I ask? So
learning to compromise is um a huge part of it

(23:40):
for both of us. And you know, teamwork makes the
dream work. Of course. Um so your sister who originally
emailed me and told me about you, she was helping
you for a while as well. Correct, Yeah, she was
doing She was helping me do the demos and air one.
So one awesome thing about being an air one is
you can go in they're really anytime you want, and

(24:01):
you can set up a table and introduce all the
customers to your product. That's amazing, It's amazing. Yeah, so
she was helping me do that, and she I know
there's a blurb about her on your website. She I
guess talked about how this um and oils completely changed
her skin. Yeah, she was one of the first people
who use them, and she used to have really bad acne.

(24:25):
So I started sending her things and I was like,
try this, use this, and her skin is amazing. Now
it's amazing. I mean, I want to say it's always amazing,
but for someone like when you're struggling with acne. So
she her skin's amazing. She she's just radiant and I'm
so grateful that her experience kind of gave me more

(24:46):
courage to say yeah, like wow, like I know it
worked to myself, but then seeing it work for her,
for someone that was on acutane and had tried everything
and nothing worked, that she used this and it were
well and her skin has never has never been she's
never struggled in that way. Again, a lot of times, obviously,
we don't realize, you know, we're changing our diets so

(25:09):
much because we want to eat organic and we want
to eat real food and not the chemicals in our bodies,
but we stop, we don't think about what we're putting
on our bodies. And you're starting to see that as
a trend now, people saying, wait, why am I putting
all of these chemicals on my face when there's amazing
natural things that I can be using. And I think

(25:33):
this is going to be an amazing, amazing time for
you when people discover what you do and how amazing
your products are. Are you seeing that people are reaching
out to you saying, hey, is this completely natural because
that's what I want to use. Yeah, there's definitely a
huge shift and consciousness right now and more and more
people want to use natural products, and that is always

(25:54):
one of the first questions I get asked, is it natural?
And it is. It's super simple, Like we don't use
any preservatives. Essential oils themselves act as preservatives are antimicrobial,
so it's just oils and then the essential oils and
that's the basis of it. And it's super simple but
so powerful. And our skin really doesn't need that much

(26:14):
like naturally all parts of our body. It wants to
be healthy and to thrive. And I think the beauty
industry can be scary a little bit because they say
you need this, you need to do this and exfoliate
and scrub and mask and gel and yeah, and even myself,
I realized that when I was struggling with my skin,

(26:36):
I was just doing too much like I would just
like fully every single day, Like I was just trying
to like scrub like any any pimple away. Yeah exactly,
And I was hurting my skin and just being more
gentle with it and just giving it the space to
heal and do its thing. It's transformative. I mean, I'm
looking at you right now. Obviously we're on FaceTime, no
one else can see you. They can go to your

(26:58):
pictures of you, but your skin is glowing. It's amazing.
So you are a walking billboard for flour three three three.
It's amazing there, I am thank you. One of the
things UM in the description of your company and on
your website, it says high vibe beauty. What does that mean?
So high vibe You can think of it, UM a

(27:19):
couple of different ways. UM. The essential oils themselves are
high vibration, so when you're using them, you are transforming
the energy of your body. So they themselves are high vibration,
so it's energy healing, UM, high vibration skincare. But then
also going back to the idea of intention, like the
highest vibration would be love and the lowest vibration would

(27:43):
be fear or like shame or you know, those more
negative emotions or currents or energy, not the kind we
want on our skin, not the kind of thoughts we
want to have. Like just so kind of just embracing
the whole idea of high vibration, like more than the
actual essential oil. Yes, it's high vibration, but then just

(28:06):
having the intention to be more loving and to raise
your vibration with your thoughts. I saw that and I
was like, I've never seen this before. I need to
know what it means and now I understand. Yes, So
you know like good vibes, high vibes. You everyone knows
good vibes. I'm a fan of that high vibes. Yeah. You, um,

(28:29):
package everything at home. Obviously you said you have your
printer outside. Then you take the bottles to your house
and you sit there in your kitchen and you do
all of this. Is that what happens? Yes, that's exactly
what I do. I'm ficturing you, like, just co cocting
things like how did and you've got two kids five
and two years old? How does this? How explain this

(28:50):
to me? So I do a lot of the work
at night when they're sleeping, and then also just during
the day. Um, I have Tuesdays and fry Tuesdays and
Thursdays to myself to work on the business and you know,
just have mommy time whatever I need to do in
those days. I have those two days and that's amazing.

(29:11):
That's really important for me to just stay grounded and
have that personal time. And then the other days, my
daughter is really intrigued by what I do and she'll
sit there and watch me. My son will parents why not?
She likes making things, So if I need to do
something during the day, like, I'll just set her up

(29:32):
and she'll have her own station and she'll make her
own special. Yeah, she does. She made a serum. She
called it the Unicorn Serum. Oh my god, listen, I'll
buy it s me too. Yes, that's so. Yeah. I
just I work at night when it's quiet, and during

(29:53):
the day if I need to do something for short
periods of time. They they are patient, they can watch
a movie, they can be eating lunch. I just squeeze
it and whenever I can. That's amazing. So one of
the things, UM, So obviously this was your side hustle.
It started as a side hustle, but now you also
teach children's yoga, so I guess that's almost a side

(30:16):
hustle to your former side hustle. I mean side hustle interception.
But how many days a week do you do you do? That? Um?
Right now, I'm only teaching UM at one school, and
the classes twice a month. So when I had my son, UM,
I just kept that one class. It's at my daughter.
My daughter used to go to preschool there and I've

(30:39):
been teaching there since before she was born. That school
is so special to me. It was awesome. I got
to go and teach when Isabelle was in school, so
I got to have her in class, and yeah, it's
it's really special to me. And like above all else,
I just want to be a good mom to myself
and then my children, like I love being a mom.
That's been my greatest gift, My greatest teacher has been

(31:02):
becoming a mom. So building a life where I can
be with them, support myself and do my thing and
be a good role model for them. Um, I guess
those are That's where I'm at right now, and that's
the most important thing to me. Well, you know what's
cool is you lived those those eight years working for Kevin,

(31:23):
and that's amazing and that is something I'm sure you
learned so so much from that. And a lot of
people think, Okay, the job I'm doing now, that's the
job I'm going to be doing for the rest of
my life and I'm going to have the same routine
over and over again. But you found a way to
change your careers with your life and your lifestyle. You know,
working with Kevin, I'm sure it was crazy and chaos,

(31:45):
something you wouldn't have been able to do with two
kids or live be the mom you wanted to be
of your two kids while doing a job. And now
you've found something that fits with your life that you love.
And I think so many times we get stuck in this. Okay,
this is my job, and I'm going to do this
for the next forty years until it's time to retire,
and that's not what we have to do. And I

(32:07):
love that you are kind of maybe not even realizing
being this role model to people, but you are kind
of showing us that there are different life stages that
we can not only do with our personal life, but
with our careers. Right. And I'm definitely I feel like
I'm such a work in progress and I'm always trying
to find a way to balance everything. And yeah, I
don't I don't know that I fully realized exactly what

(32:29):
I'm doing because a lot of the time I feel
like I'm just flying by the seat of my pain.
That's perfect. Yeah, well, who knows. I mean, maybe when
the kids are older, you can have your own store.
I mean, is that something you've thought of. Yes, I
would love to definitely thought of that. Putting it out there.
They can see it, they can work, they can stock shelves,

(32:49):
they can do demos. I just hired them. They're going
to work for you. Yeah, they can create, they can
take flower pictures. It would be super fun. It would
be so cool to have a place where people can
also go and tell you. You know, I I love this,
but I also want to mix it with this. I mean,
you could have classes where you can teach people your passion.

(33:10):
I mean, I'm sure that's something you would like as well.
I'm sitting here giving you all these I love that.
I would love to do that. And another thing I
always wanted to do is just have sessions with people
where they could come in and I could just meet
them and sort of intuitively feel what essential oils they
need and make them their own personal care. Really cool.

(33:34):
That's definitely part of my dream. I'd love to do
that and just work with people on a one on
one basis. Yeah, that is putting it out there, Like
you said, it's going to happen like you did with Hustle,
and then appear. Are going to happen and then you appear.
It's so weird. Um. So you said an email to
me that cap Beauty is a store that's also going

(33:55):
to be carrying flour three through three. Are we allowed
to say that? Yes, I think you can say it.
I'm pretty sure soon hopefully, so maybe in the next month.
How did It's kind of a long story, I'll keep
it short. I sent them products last year. And the point,
the moral of my story is just be consistent or persistent,

(34:16):
per consistent and persistent. So I sent them stuff last year.
I didn't hear back from them. It didn't work out.
Something's happened in between. I emailed them, um this past
August and I sent them stuff again, and one of
the owners and the emailed me back and she said, UM,
I've been using your stuff. I love it. It's great,

(34:38):
and we'd love to bring on a couple of your products.
So you're gonna have to because so you're at how
many of the air one markets are you at? Wearing
all of them? You're in all of them. You're a
clean beauty mark. And now this, You're gonna I feel
like outgrow your kitchen soon, I hope. So. Yes, I
would love that. And just to have of a space

(35:00):
where I can go and I need a creative space
like that is something that I I envisioned every day
envision what it looks like and what it will feel
to be in there, and I really look forward to
that day. No, it's true, it's it's people don't realize
how much of a difference having a space to do

(35:23):
something makes. Like right now, where I am sitting is
at a desk that I recently put in my apartment. Now,
I was doing the podcast at the radio studio, which
makes sense because that's where this type of stuff happens,
but it wasn't my space, and I had to keep
maneuvering around other people's schedules. And then I put a
desk in my apartment, didn't think much of it, and
then started doing the podcast here and it has made

(35:46):
such a difference because it is the space that I've created,
a space that I feel comfortable in and relax in.
And yes, you have your kitchen, you have that place now,
but to really build something that's yours, even if it
is a tiny little desk in your apartment, it makes
a huge, huge difference. If you're listening right now and
you and you feel like maybe you're lost and a

(36:07):
lot of things and you're in the weeds, build a
tiny little space for yourself to work in yes, and alter.
Put things around you that you love that inspire you.
I've crystals everywhere. Yeah, things that make you feel good.
I know it's true. It it really does help. And
I think a lot of people who are side hustlers

(36:29):
um tend to be these people who have just got
so much going on and we're working on the go,
we're working from our phones, we're not really thinking about
the mental space or kind of decluttering our mind, and
that also comes with decluttering our space, and it helps
so so much. So, Yeah, it's true, you need a place.

(36:50):
I'm putting that in a place. Thank you, Hustle Embarkle.
That's gonna be my my new like mantra, I think,
so thanks for that. Yeah, I can't wait to send
you the product. I know you'll love it. And if
you're if you're listening right now, at the end of
this podcast, we're going to give you a promo code

(37:10):
to a shop Flare three three three, which, by the way,
you told me that there's several ways we can say this,
so I feel like I've said it a few times
and people listening are probably like, she keeps saying the
name wrong, but you said it. It could be flair.
You said another one earlier. I just pronounced it. However,
it came seeming that moment flair, flair, flair. I don't
know what does your daughter say. Does she have a

(37:32):
way to say it, her cute little voice flair? She
probably says flair. Well, then you know what. It's officially flair.
We're calling it flair. So one of the things I
like to talk to people about our apps other than
Instagram that they use in their everyday life or for
their side hustle or business. Is there an app or

(37:53):
a website or something you go to and that you love.
So there is one, and the app I think it's
called few used. Never heard of that one. It's for pictures.
My friend Amy, Hi Amy. My friend Amy shared it
with me, and you can go and you can. A
good example is I could take a product photo that
has a white background and then I could fuse it

(38:14):
with a flower picture, so you can just create images
of your own And I like being creative and I
like playing with different pictures like that, So that's a
super fun one for me. Cool. I actually know exactly
what you're talking about because I saw those on your Instagram.
So yes, I posted some of them recently. Yeah, super cute.

(38:34):
Love that. Okay, So fuse it's f U S E
D yes. All right, so check that out. So anyone
listening who wants to fuse things, there you go. You've
got that super fun and one thing. I don't think
I've talked to everyone about this, but you clearly had
an amazing support system. You have your husband, you have
your sister. You were working for Kevin who was like

(38:56):
all for you know, you being passionate about this and
he was okay with it. Was there anyone in your
life that was like, really essential oils, that's what you're
going to do. If they If there was, I'm sure
I ignored them. Good. Yeah, no one stands out. Really,
I'm really lucky in that way. Like my family has
always been really supportive. My friends. Yeah, no one stands out. Good.

(39:18):
I probably blocked it out. If there was, I blocked
it out. It's important. I mean some people use it
to motivate, but it's if you're going to let someone
tell you that's a dumb idea and it's something you
care about, then you don't actually care about it. If
you're not going to do it, it's it's not because
the people are telling you, don't let those haters try
to bring you down. Absolutely not worth it. People will hate.

(39:39):
Yeah you just so Yeah, just staying true to myself
and seeing my vision through and believing in my inspired
purpose no matter what anyone outside of me says. I
think I feel like I'm going to talk to you
once a week because you keep me calm. I don't know.
I hope everyone listening was like, yeah, this has been

(40:00):
a very calm episode normally. I mean, I'm still all
over the place, but I appreciate you very very much.
I appreciate you. You've made it. I was. I was
really nervous. I've never done a podcast before. Um so,
and you make it so easy or so down to earth,
and I love talking to you, so right back at you.
Thank you. You're welcome. So okay, if people want to
follow you, it's Flair three three three skin flu are

(40:25):
so how you spell that? Your website is Flare three
three three dot com and it's Calle Carla Marie twenty
for people. Yes, that's right, three October for the front
of October Google, so go shop. Um and you said
I have the rose toner and the oil that I
have is at the main oil that's on the website.
So the oil you have, the oil that's the name

(40:46):
of it. And it's good for all skin types. So
it's a lighter oil and it's balancing. If you have
really oily skin, it will bring it into balance. If
you have dry skin, it will bring it into balance. Um,
you can use it as a cleanser. So it's really
just a good all purpose oil for every type of skin. Yeah.
I use it as a cleanser, and then I also
put it in my regular like a little bit of
it in my regular moisturizer. Just yeah, oh I love it.

(41:10):
So glowing. You're blowing. I can't hear you. Everyone. I'm
looking at you. I see you. You're gorgeous. You're glowing.
Thank you, Thank you very much, so Melissa, I appreciate you.
I appreciate your sister reaching out. Thank you very much
for being on this podcast. Thank you so much for
having me and everyone listening. Don't forget rate and review. Okay,

(41:31):
thanks by I love you.
