Today's Social Dilemma, Jason.Aldean's new song and video has sparked a debate on the imagery used and the lyrics that are very critical of violence in big cities. Today I want to focus on the aspect of rural vs urban. Aldean's songs suggests that small town people are looking out for each other while city people are uncaring and less likely to help their neighbor. From your experience, do you think that stereotype is true?

lines at six oh eight three twoone one one five. Protesters and dangerous
city folk are what small town peopledon't like, according to al Dean,
who paints big city America as aviolent hellscape. Though if you look closely,
you'll notice Canada. That's actually aToronto police cruiser parked on Queen Street.

(00:22):
But that's beside Aldan's point, ashe uses the chorus as a warning,
So that is a small film fivedamn taken. Critics say al Dean's

(00:51):
song is full of racist dog whistles. The backlash prompted Country music television to
stop playing the video. Al Deanis standing by his work, saying the
criticism is not only meritless, butdangerous, and that there is not a
single lyric in the song that referencesrace. We're going to face focus on
small towns versus big cities. IAFM Social Dilemma. You're on the air

(01:15):
walkers fly, yes, sir, that's our interesting topic today. As always,
Thank you, sir. I usedto run eighteen salesman coast to coast
in my younger days, and wedid business in from New York, San
Francisco to small town USA in themiddle of this country. People are people,
doesn't matter really how large a smalla town is. You can find

(01:40):
knuckleheads and lunkheads everywhere, and youcan find the brightest and greatest people everywhere.
It's true, it's true. Butright now we have kind of a
hat Fields and McCoys with the bigcities pitted against the small towns. And
I guess my problem with this songis I think it makes it worse.
I agree we need we need both. I am social dilemma. Go ahead,

(02:07):
you're on the air, Yes,yes, go ahead. I just
had a comment on that. Theliberals voice seem to, oh, okay,
let's stay away from labels here.Okay, okay, I'll do that,
even though they're kind of listen tothe little rap music. You might

(02:27):
have something to complain about the song, I'd say most people just get over
it. Um, you don't alwayshave to be a victim on everything that
comes out today. I don't rememberthat being the question that I asked today.
That's kind of no, it reallyisn't. You didn't you didn't even
come to the ballpark to play.If social dilemma. Go ahead, Hey,

(02:51):
hey, go ahead, Hey,go ahead. All right. I'm
from Milwaukee, okay, And andI was a lot of years old.
My parents moved me up to CottageGrove. Now, I tell you,
lady gentlemen. Earlier was saying peopleare people. But John Cooler started to

(03:13):
get me or started to get politicalthough. Outside of that, I tell
you what if I was still inMilwaukee at my age right now, I
wouldn't live this old Oh you don'tthink so, No, No, I
would be in prison or da ohwhy were you getting in trouble? Wow?

(03:37):
You know no, back in ourdays, I'm about the same age
as you, and it was justyou know, it wasn't guns or anything.
Well, I didn't have to worryabout that. Why would you be
dead? Why would you be dead? I think I would have got into
a lot more trouble. Okay, all right, okay, even you know

(03:57):
you're you know, you're looking atthis from a person perspective that I guess
I didn't think about when I setthis up today, about someone's own trying
to avoid temptations and moving to aplace where they maybe don't have those tempting
I didn't even think about that aspectof it. Right, of course,
you know there are people that getin trouble and small towns. Wow,

(04:18):
I all believe me. I knowall right, IBAFM social dilemma. Hey,
So, I just I wanted tocall in because I think you're kind
of off topic. No, no, no, no, no, I
am the topic. Whatever topic Ipick is the topic. No, no,

(04:41):
it's not that. It's that.Jason all Thing is a big time
conservative, and I think he's talkedabout the social values small towns worst big
cities. Is what or political values? Well, well, we're not getting
into politics today. I No,I didn't want to say that, but
I'm saying that's what the song ofthe boat. I actually I liked the
song. I watched the video. But that's what the song is about.

(05:03):
It's about the social values of Yeah, well there's six hundred thousand people that
live in Milwaukee. You think theyall have bad values? No? No,
but I think that you How doI say this? We don't getting
cut off during twenty point you didn'tsee a state senator to get beat up

(05:25):
in Barron County or Taylor County wayup north. Well, but that's because
the demonstrations were and by the way, who put who put that state senator
on the air? Me? Whobacked him up? Me? Me?
And and and he's a very niceguy, and you know he represents the
Polish people of the south side ofMilwaukee. So okay, okay, so

(05:47):
there's yeah, well I yeah,and I think it's different. And my
problem is this, I think itgeneralizes too much. IBFM social dilemma.
Go ahead, Yeah, there's nothingwrong with what he's saying. All that
stuff that's going on, isn't thebig cities. And when you look at

(06:08):
Chicago and New York, Milwaukee forthat matter, and look at what's been
going on in Madison in the lastten fifteen years, it is terrible.
The little towns. My own daughtermoved to Lake Mills because so she could
get out of the bigger city.Well, but if you think that's all
that's going on in those but forone thing, those riots were going on

(06:29):
after the George Floyd thing that wasthat was that was three years ago.
He made it look like that's goingon every day. It's not. It's
going on today in the big cities. Oh really, I didn't know that
we had a riot in Milwaukee thismorning. I didn't know that I'm going
to tell you something. Crime crime, crime, crime. You're going to

(06:53):
get to say what you want.Well, of course I am. Well,
I don't know why you're so hostile. But my point, my point
is, My point is we needbig cities and we need small towns,
and there's lots of good things andbad things going on in both places.
That's the only point I'm trying tomake this morning. There's nothing you can't

(07:15):
compare a small town general. Yeahyou can't. Yeah, I can't,
because you know why, Because becauseI can. Yeah, Well, you've
made up your mind, and that'sfine. I actually spend time in Milwaukee,
and I love Milwaukee. That's myhometown. IBAFM social dilemma. Hey,

(07:35):
yeah, I don't care for bigcities or small towns. You like
it, well, well, noteverybody can live on forty acres. You
know. I've only got a couple. But you get might get my point.
Some people don't want to be aroundother people. I get it.
Yeah, I've always lived in bigcities. Other than going to uw Platfill,

(07:56):
I've just always lived in a bigcity. And that's just what I'm
used to. Yeah, well,I used to live in Madison and work
in Chicago too, and don't carefor it. And I don't care for
the noisy cairns of the small townseither. Well, we didn't even get
into that today. Thank you forcalling. I am social Leema. Go
ahead, go ahead, you're onthe air. Fly what's up buddy?

(08:18):
Hey? Go ahead? So so, I actually, first off, I
enjoy living h in a small town. Um, not to say that I
don't. I don't dislike big citiesbecause they got a lot of things there
that small towns just don't have. However, I think this, this whole
scenario boils down to one or twothings. Do you get to go on

(08:39):
the air and pick whatever topic youwant because you have freedom of speech,
freedom of press, and if somebodydoesn't like you what your topic is,
they can change the channel. Muchlike Jason Aldeen, he can sing about
whatever he wants because he has thefreedom of speech and expression, and if
somebody doesn't like it, I wouldturn off the channel. I would.
You've ever heard me push for boycott'sor canceled. I just never have because

(09:05):
I do because I am aware howblessed I am to have that. You
know that to have the forum thatI have, and I've had it for
a long time. I'm very blessedto have that. No, I thought
what CMT did to his video waswrong. I agree, And that's a
station that is a Honestly, they'rea media station, so they're violating somebody's

(09:28):
rights that they they stand behind.Well they don't. They don't have an
FCC license, so they are youknow. But the truth is, remember
what happened to the Dixie Chicks andhow they got canceled, and that shouldn't
that shouldn't have happened either. Thankyou, I agree. Thank you for
calling ib AFM social. Okay, maybe that's a perfect time to wrap it

(09:50):
up today. No, I totallyagree that CMT should not have pulled his
video. I think it's great tomake a video that spurs a conversation station,
and it did that. I'm notcondemning Jason Aldean for that. I
just think he I think he's givingcity short shrift. All right, we'll
take one quick call ib AFM Social, Dan, go ahead. Yeah,

(10:13):
I think UMT is probably just followingthe trend that most places are. I
don't understand why they did it.Well, let's but let's focus on what
I'm talking about. Do you havea problem with big cities, Um,
big cities, Yes, I do, personally, you do, yes,
I do personally Do you do?You not go to them? Only when

(10:35):
I have to. I have to. I prefer to be in places where
there are fewer people. Yeah, just you know, there's an awkwardness for
me that I just don't you know, I don't like being around the big
crowds of people. I don't knowthat. Um, that's necessarily going to
make people more inclined to violence ornot. But it does seem that there

(10:58):
is more violence in the bigger cities. Well, when you peel some layers
away from the onion, you seesome real interesting statistics. Now
