Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cat one O three point seven. You're number one for
New Country. It is Steve and Gina in the morning,
Steve Lundy melt and we are pumped. John Party is
coming to Harrister CoV a week from tomorrow. Night is
Hockey Talk Hollywood Tour twenty twenty five, and we have
the pleasure of having John Party with us this morning
here on the Friday celebration. John, Good morning, good morning.
(00:22):
Cannot wait to have you back here in Cat Country.
You are a huge favorite back here.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Well, that's awesome. I' stid to be back. We're always
excided to bring the big show on the road.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
I tell you Friday Night Heartbreaker. Gina can attest to this.
There's songs that we pretty much rumble the building with
when the song comes on here in the radio. As
a matter of fact, people in the studio start to
complain we're playing the music too loud. But Friday Night Heartbreaker, Man,
that is a smash hit and what a sexy song.
That is just a great song.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Thank you. You know that's exactly you know. I thought
about it when I heard first heard us about girls
getting ready, like like they're going out gonna break some
some fools. Heart Tonight and I just you know, it's
got that scary, sexy vibe and it's just a fun song.
And you know, it was it's funny because it's like
(01:13):
it's in the top ten right now, and like it's
it's getting all the good stuff back from radio stations
and you know, people like it's different, blah blah blah
like rah blah brah like and now it's like I
love it and it's just it feels good, you know,
because yeah, I went out not saying to me was
that different, but like I just went out and made
(01:34):
a record that I haven't made before, and look we got,
you know, a top ten these days. That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
That's amazing, amazing. Well, your new album, Honky Talk Hollywood
is his packed. It's got seventeen tracks, awesome tracks. How
did you decide which songs made the cut? That's tough.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Man. That one that was just I think because we
were we hadn't made a record in like two and
a half year years. That although the seventeen the number was,
that's what we once. Once we got in the studio
and we worked so long on that record that we
tried other songs and it just didn't nothing, whatever, it
(02:14):
didn't work, we just didn't record. So that's seventeen is
like all the songs that we really felt like this
is the record. So that kind of helped because we
got the jam other songs that we thought we were
going to record and then ended up with the seventeen.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
I think it'd be a neat of an artist maybe
like you, it does an album of just the songs
that didn't make the cuts on the other albums and
call this call the album leftovers.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
That'd still be good.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yeah, they'll call it delicious leftover. Ah, there you go.
This we're talking with John Party. Coming to Harrister cav
a week from tomorrow Night is Honkey Talk Hollywood Tour
twenty twenty five. A portion of your ticket sales go
to the Starlight Fund. Tell us about this. Can you
share a story or a moment that inspired you and
and the summer to start that?
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Well, it's nice to be able to to donate to
multiple charities across the country. You know, we do the
Christmas tour and like, well, we'll give out to a
lot of local charities that like are around the show
we're playing. Also, like you know, we always once we
get into like we're doing something for Saint Jude. We
(03:26):
got a little bit of money to donate, you know,
so it's it's it's a good thing. It's and it
just feels good, you know. I mean once you get
to the local charities, like it's crazy, like I got
awards and trophies, like you forget about all the local
charities and how much you know if you give them,
You're give them ten thousand dollars. It's like a huge
(03:47):
deal and I don't know, it's been really eye opening
and it makes you feel really good and knowing that
you're helping and most of the stuff so like for making
you know, helping kids out, getting kids foot in the
right direction, like you know, the eighteen to twenty year
olds that don't know what to do, and we kind
of got we got to trade school stuff and just
(04:10):
and home. We've give one the homeless kids that needed help,
and it said there's a lot. So we really really
searched for like the best way to what's going to
be the most impactful and helpful.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Fascinate talk about John Party.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
John, You've had six number one songs, nine point three billion, yeah,
b billion streams. What's kind of one milestone that still
feels surreal to you, that's still like how did that happen?
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Let me add to those facts, right, please do please
do the one thing that like set me back. And
I guess like because it used to be like used
to be like you've got number one, that you that's
how we ranked artists, and it's kind of changed where
(05:00):
if you get a top ten that's a big deal.
You know, if you get a top five, that's a
big deal. And that's always been my biggest battle with
the radio. Even like even like night Shift, which is
a humongous streaming song, it's it topped out four because
we had this guy named Luke Combs has Beautiful Crazy
(05:23):
for like twenty eight weeks a number.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I just lost this all out move over loud.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
But I will say I heard that, like was like
a while back, as I have fifteen top twenty five songs, wow,
and I was like, that's pretty like you just put like,
you know, that's pretty good, you know, top twenty five
people here. And I would say about this about everybody
at radio and every artist that like doesn't get the
ring the bells, like if radio plays your song, somebody
(05:52):
heard it out there that somebody heard it. You know,
somebody heard it and I and so thank you for
playing my songs. And I always say like where it
lands in the charts, somebody hurt it, and that fifteen
top twenty five was like that kind of was like whoa.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Big, Well, we can't wait to see you in concert
a week from tomorrow night, Harrister call Hockey Talk Tour
twenty twenty five. What do you say, Let's let thousands
of people hear you song Friday night Heartbreaker right now?
Would that be okay?
Speaker 2 (06:22):
I think on a Friday morning, that's the perfect.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
John. We can't wait to see you in concert. We
really appreciate you taking the time to be with us
and we'll see you soon. And here in cat Country, hey.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Thanks for you, thank you, and can't wait to be back.
Thank you, guys,
