Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the after show decompression session, doing what they do best,
glabbing their gum.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Said you miss ann boo, I did. That's all right,
leave it on the floor, leave it on the floor.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
I try, I try.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
She practices, you know how to get to Carnegie Hall? Right? Yeah,
you practice, you practice.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Baby, practice, practice, That's right.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
Just keep up the good work. So, speaking of Annadharrow,
tell us about some music that you saw in New
York City. There blues, you know what, ratters? I guess. Huh.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Have you ever heard of having good travel karma where
everything just works out? Yeah, non stop good travel karma.
The moment that we got there.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
And you read into Jimmy Vaughn.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, well, Jimmy Vaughan played at Antone's fiftieth at Lincoln
Center in New York that Sunday, June twenty ninth, and
he said to say hello to you, and I said,
I go, next time you're in Dallas, you need to
stop by this studio. And he said absolutely, Jail. You know,
he was like he signed a piece of memorabilia for me,

(01:03):
and he's like Anna, He goes, you know, I have
a very special place in my heart for Anna's because
his daughter's name is Anna. Oh yeah, no, he was
a sweetheart. And C. J. Shinier Shanier from New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Is that Cliftoner's kid.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
It's his kid, that King of Zideko's son played. Oh
my gosh. It was just blues legends after blues legend
after blues legend, John Primer Sue Foley on the guitar.
Just amazing. And then the Saturday before Anton's fiftieth at
Lincoln Center was Antone's fiftieth at the Bowery Electric, which

(01:39):
is a legendary club in the Bowery. I heard of
this and that was a dive bar. You said that
today was National dive bar Day.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I love me some dive Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
We had so much fun.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Okay, So they took this Antone's event with all this
focus on blues music, and then I scratched my hand
because it's happening New York, and I started thinking, they
can probably book even bigger and even more blues artists
if they do it in New York. Was I on
the right track?

Speaker 3 (02:08):
It was sponsored by Visit Austin. Visit Austin was trying
to promote Austin and come and vissit and go to
Anton's where all these legendary blues artists play.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I don't think I have ever been to Antone.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Well you're going to have to come, Oh damn right, yeah,
celebrating their fiftieth anniversary. They always have great artists.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Oh yeah, period there and Stevie Rayvaughn just left his
mark on that place back in the day. That's where
he sei really was.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
When I was in college, I saw Stevie Rayvaughan.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Connected to Anton's the way you are. How many times
have you gotten to see Stevie Ray.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
I only got to see him once this one show. Yeah,
because my connection to Anton's didn't come until much later.
So they pretty much saved Anton's and now it's downtown,
but it used to be where I saw Stevie red
the old location and you two after a show went
on stage there, got to see them play at Anton's

(03:07):
and that was up on their location on North.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Lamar Insane one showed Anton's is all I've ever done.
It was during south By Southwest, but it was I'll
never forget it. It was this odd combination of artists.
We walk in to see Neil Finn of Crowded House
do a second Antones and he introduces the band halfway
through and the two girls playing behind him are Wendy

(03:32):
and Lisa from Brince. Yeah, and they still make music.
They score music for TV and movies. Now, that's that's
a big part of what they do to make their paycheck.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Nowadays, a lot of artists are doing that. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Yeah, the dude from Autograph, Yeah, he makes score music
for movies, action films, that kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
So does Jay Ferguson who used to be in Spirit
and he had a hit song called thunder Island back
in the day.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
That's what he does. And uh, Danny.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Elfman yes all the time as yes, and he does
he does the Simpsons theme.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
You know, Now, when did you go to Galveston?

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Though?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
I went on Thursday, last Thursday.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Last Thursday. You and Clayton road tripping it?

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Yeah, he just wanted to go on a road trip.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Who did the driving?

Speaker 4 (04:28):
You or him?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
I did?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
You did my damn truck down, driver, boll You wrecked
my truck and there's gonna be a death in the family.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
So you think you would have had a hard time
closing your eyes and getting a nap if you knew
your son was driving your truck.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Well, it was the weather was really shitty, was it? Yeah?
Oh it was.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
It was rain and just cats and dogs buckets coming
there that Thursday.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Yeah, we've got some bad weather here. It cleared up
before Kaboomtown and Addison. We lucked out there.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
They had to put a pause on the aerial show
out of the Addison Airport because of the bad weather.
But we lucked out.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
You know.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
So you had rain all the way down to Galveston,
just down.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
So what's the route? Is it forty five south to
Houston and then you cut down to Galveston.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
That's just straight on down forty five. Yeah, keep going.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Well, I'm glad that you guys are okay because forty
five between Dallas and Houston is where we have those
driverless trucks. Now, yep, I didn't see one, Thank the Lord.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
As long as they don't run into me, they can
drive all they want.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
And they did have that horrible accident on forty five
while we were on vacation too.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Oh what would they be.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
The guy fell asleep. You know, driverless trucks. You know,
people probably wish that they had driverless trucks. Driving a
semi driving a semi and fell asleep.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Well, yeah, that.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Was very track.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
And I'm telling you it's really hard to stay awake
when you're driving and your buddy says sleep yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
And then the rain doesn't help either. The rain is
like a lullaby.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Oh wow, driving in the rain. So good on you
for making it home Sea.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah, I'm glad you had a good time. I'm glad
you're both are back safe.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Man.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
I stayed at home, but man, I don't regret it
at all. And Friday, Saturday and yesterday Sunday were all
family days for me. They were all hangs with different
members of my family that live here locally, and it
was great. I feel great now. That was probably the
best vacation I've ever taken, just as far as regenerating

(06:29):
my health and recharging my batteries. Yeah, I think that's
the most I've ever gotten of that.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Let's see vacation.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Hello, both of them, Joe.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
So everybody all nice and rested from their seven day weekends.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Well, actually it was it was longer. It was a
ten day damn right, need to get out of you. Well,
we choked somebody.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
I didn't want to rub anybody's noses and nothing.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
But you know, not for nothing.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Everybody good we're going to get from.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're good in.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Let's take the shill back on the road for another week, man,
and then we'll need.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Another after that, sir, yes, sir, you think What did
you think of my city?

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Oh my gosh, they rolled out the red carpet for me.
It was non stop fun from the moment that I arrived. Yeah,
and we had great weather too, Matt the cat, you
know how they had had that heat dome over New
York the weekend before, both Thursday and Friday. While I
was there. I had to wear a jean jacket because
it was nice and cool both days.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Oh yeah, thank you about that.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Well, you see, you see, and that's that's the whole thing.
Did you get the picture of the hot dogs that
I posted?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Whoa, that sounds like a hot play? Hey hey, hey, hey.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Hey hey, just like the hot dog from the movie
Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks where the stripper puts his
dog in between the runs the jumbo.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
You know, you know, I called up to try to
have a.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
You should know better than that.

Speaker 4 (08:09):

gonna go and do something Nowmber, wonderful. There you go
real quick before we run out of time. How about
some good food in New York City? Anna any anything
to tell?

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Oh man?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
The Italian food was just spectacular. It was so awesome.
I did not have pizza. I was like, I did
have the best tacos at this place called Number one
Tacosh and they have it was right by Madison Square Garden.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
It was incredible in New York.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Good tacos mine for this place was out of this world,
chucked out, I'm telling you. They were great tacos.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah, yeah, I'm hungry right now.
