Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the after show decompression session, doing what they do best,
flapping their gums.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I just went and jumped in on you guys while
you were talking because it was funny. Oh really, it
was a conversation that segued from Hawk Tua to a
woman that calls and what does she do? She's, uh,
there's a woman that calls, and you guys are saying
that we haven't heard that from that woman in a while.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
No, no, no, no, no. He was talking about Hawk to
a girl.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Oh, you haven't heard from Haley the Hawk to a
girl on social media podcast?

Speaker 3 (00:33):
But she's really her fifteen minutes of fame is up.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Look, yeah, it's time to just walk away.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Her podcast is called Talk to a Talked and she's
dating and she's dating a major athlete. She's making a
lot of money. But yeah, I feel like she's going
to go off into the sunset.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Why is it that the people who don't deserve to
make a lot of money make a lot of money?
You know?

Speaker 3 (00:55):
I interviewed Jacob Chick, who's the head of One Tribe Foundation. Yeah,
and Veterans Day is coming up a week from Monday,
and he was saying he goes there's too much emphasis
on the people like the hawk to a Girl, on
Kim Kardashian, on that type of person, rather than looking
at your real heroes in the world, which are your

(01:17):
veterans and your civic leaders that are really making an
impact on people's lives.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yes, we need to find beauty in something besides a
vanity setting. You need to find beauty in effort and
in altruism.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
People who are doing something to make the world a
better place. Exactly you know now hawk to a Girl
did with her first big paycheck go to Target and
buy a bunch of dog food for animals that were
in the shelter.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
So Haley continues to do that. She has She's shown
that sort of money support several times over.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
And maybe she figures, you know, I don't deserve this.
I better give back.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Yeah, because karma catches up there.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Because I really did not do my parents proud when
they saw me on that viral video. Yeah, talking about
oral set.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
I gotta spin all that time.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
God, if I was heard dad, Yeah, my blood pressure
would have tripled when I found out what was happening
to my daughter. You have it, well, I don't want
to hold you all up too much. But I sure
had a lot of fun this week. We put a
hell of a lot of effort and a lot of
creative fun into what we did, and I think we
should walk into the weekend tired but proud.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Well, if you're going to do something, you got to do.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
It right, that's right. I mean, that's the style. Not
to ever half asset, go big, or go home.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
That is That's how I'm So.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
You're gonna watch a lot of college football this weekend,
I know that.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Yeah, what else is new? I always do that.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
And Anna's going to be walking early.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Tomorrow morning, and then I am the Walk to End Alzheimer's,
the majority of them here in North Texas because of course,
you know, my mom had Alzheimer's, so it's very important
to me and my best friend's mom as well. So yeah,
so downtown Dallas City Hall tomorrow, rain or shine, Yeah,
rain or shine, the Walk to End to Alzheimer's. It's

(03:02):
the last one for North Texas. Love to see out there.
Fox four as well, it's going to be out there,
and then you're going to be at the festival at
the switch.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yard, That's right. I don't start on stage until early
evening tomorrow, but I get out there in the afternoon
and hang out with everybody.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah, is it rain or shine too?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
It is rain or shine. As a matter of fact.
A few years ago at festival at the switch Yard,
we're getting ready for the Stone Temple pilots to come
on stage, and all of a sudden, the road crew
comes running up and goes everybody takes shelter, and they
show us on their phone they can see the weather
radar and there's a huge lightning storm about to pass
over Carrollton. So the band, us, everybody, my family, we

(03:41):
all cram underneath one backstage tent, which is flooded up
to our ankles. We're sitting and standing back there, and
the lightning goes overhead and just beats the shit out
of downtown Carrollton. And then about forty minutes later it
totally disappeared. The crowd stayed, they got soaked wet. The
cops made them stand back from the stage, but the

(04:03):
crowd stayed. That's a Texas concert crowd right there. And
then they went on super late, played super late and
it was one of the best nights I've.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Ever had taste Addison. That happened at taste Addison one
year and they got the band and I think it
was Deep Blue something too. They're playing, yeah, and they
after the rain stopped, they went out into the crowd
and they played for the people that stayed behind. Yeah,
that was like so amazing to see.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
That's what you do. That shows you you're a good dude.
It was at the.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Granada Theater one night and there was an artist there
from Italy named Paulu Nutini now over in Italy. He's
a big pop success and all that. He's got a
great voice. We go to the Granada, it's raining, and
all of a sudden, the damn power goes out in
the building.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Oh charming.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
So there's about a ten minute break and the band
comes out and they've got generators for a little bit
of pa like a vocal mind only Yeah, they've got
candlelight on the side of the stage. They did the
damn concert in the dark anyway, and it was the best.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
It was so cool. You could hear everything, and everybody
was like hunkered down and in mellow mode. And it
was very dark in the Granada Theater, but it was
a lot of fun. There was probably a lot of
unwanted pregnancies that happened during that dark show, But apart
from that, it was a great night.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Yeah. Like other than that, how'd you like to play
in Selinka?

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah, we're gonna see rainy weather this weekend, but there
is a lot of fun stuff going on, so just
be careful and head out support ann Or tomorrow morning
and come to switch Yard for free tomorrow night.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
What time is your gig tomorrow?

Speaker 3 (05:35):
The opening ceremony start at eight thirty in the morning.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Jesus.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, downtown Dallas City Hall. Really yeah, it's they usually
get so many people out there good so it's always
a you know what. They call it the biggest support
group in North Texas because anybody that has been been
impacted by that disease, they get together, they share stories,

(05:59):
we remember people.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
So yep, that's what took my mama down was Alzheimer's.
It is no fun. There's funny and charming things about
Alzheimer's patience, but at the same time, you're frustrated because
you're watching that loved one sort of fade further and
further back into the background.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
One of my favorite stories about my mom because I
talk about you know what breaks your heart, but then
I always talk about what made us laugh, and my
mom thought my sister in law was the maid. And
every time my brother would hold her hand or hug her,
my mom would like slap him and say, you're married,
you're married, it's good. And then my brother had his house.

(06:38):
His old house was on Lake Austin, this huge home.
He had a mother in law suite. So when my
mom when I brought her to come and live with me,
and I have this tiny little house fifteen hundred square feet.
You know, my mom's looking around that first night, she goes,
what do you think of this hotel? I go, what's fine?

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Mom?

Speaker 3 (06:56):
She goes, I like the other hotel much better hostage,
yet this beautiful view.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Well, we're hoping for decent weather for all of you tomorrow,
and I'll bet you even if it does rain, you're
gonna get some good support out there. And yeah, we
got it. We got wild people that come out and
want to blow it off for free at Switchyard. So
I'm not real worried about a crowd tomorrow night either.
It's not like it's going to be lightning.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
And where is the Switchyard.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Downtown Carrollton, Right there in the square where the candy shot,
Yes exactly, and it is crowded all daylight. It's a
Pearl Jam tribute. There's a whole bunch of different stuff
happening all throughout the day. School of Rock students are
going to perform, there's children's shows. It's family friendly. And
then when the sun goes down, it gets a little.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
People start saying shit, fucking.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, start using them dirty wars are dirty words. Well,
thank you both for a fun week it was. I
had a freaking blast.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Oh yeah, now it's time to rest up and start
it all over again on Monday.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I'm hungry.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Let's go, Yo, we're out of here, y'all.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Was the old man?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Did you make one?

Speaker 4 (08:03):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (08:03):
I did? Oh what did you make through my trash?

Speaker 4 (08:06):
And oh okay? And I was looking the other way
