Speaker 1 (00:01):
I'm Brett Sanders. I always like the Lemonheads, going back
to the nineties. They just sounded right on the radio.
Front man from the Lemonheads, Evan Dando, joins me on
this week's Brett Sonders podcast to kind of talk about
his new memoir, Rumors of My Demise. Let's see what happens.
Oh cool, from reading your book, your fine book, Rumors

(00:23):
of My Demise. You really do have an excellent sense
of recollection.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Evan, Oh, yeah, you know what I think they I
think that I remember something about being called memory. Yeah,
who was into that again? Some Greek, a certain Greek solon.
I think it's a cursed well because you remember everything.
And some of my friends are like, you know, maybe

(00:47):
you shouldn't remember all that stuff. You don't have to
you know, uh, well, it don't look back whatever, you know.
I really think that I'm more of the Dylan Thomas
like the it's more of it's really fun. Memories are
a blasts, you know, they're a good pastime and no ads,

(01:09):
no ads. I like, it doesn't have to be you know,
like nostalgia. You just remembering stuff. I don't think there's
anything wrong with that.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I wasn't in any way shape.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Or Dustin, my friend Dustin once said, and I think
maybe he had a point at the time, and I
was thinking, but he always everything's right, everything's perfect. So
I'm glad he said that because I had never thought
of that.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Even, you know, after reading your book, I have to say,
I'm glad that you're around, Evan, because you have, let's
put it this way, you've lived your life to the
fullest extent.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah, and now that I'm still around, my book's been read.
If they burned them in a pile, I can get
all excited about it.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
That's a terrible idea, books going.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
To burn people, especially it's a picture of me on
the front. Yeah, I'm still around. I'm stronger than ever,
you know, like I'm I'm having way more fun than
I should have. You know, I started playing music. You know,
it's like it's one of these counterintuitive, counter aesthetic things
where it gets more and more fun the more like
wrong it looks. You know, that's why we like things

(02:14):
like stones things. I just just listen to it, you know,
you know, go watch it. You know they're really good.
To hell, you just don't, you know, watching it's a
little off puoting sometimes, especially when you get so big.
We have these moves that he always did, and you know,
keep doing them. I don't have any answers to Mick
Jagger this morning. He's awesome, though.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Hey what is the current status of the Lemonhead z
Evan Dande?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Oh yeah, my I'm in I'm right now. I'm in
good old Manhattan where I live for nineteen years, and
we are on our way to Nashville. I'm going to
make I'm making a Townsmand's Aunt covers record, because because
why not, you know, and keep busy, and then the
tour starts in a little while after that. I believe

(03:01):
I'm playing the Rhyman. I think it's a Ryman, and
it better be the Ryman if you said the Rymon
because that's that's the Great Grand Old Operations.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Right, that's the Palace.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah. Anyway, they said John Prime things like probably didn't
be trying to get it. Was like I was my friend.
John was like, oh yeah, Evans in town and yeah,
we didn't want to trying to get him on this
thing for four years. And so I guess I gotta
be quick, and I guess maybe I'll end up with
saddle in the rain or some some weird song. But
you know they're going quick. You know, John Hyatt, who

(03:32):
the hell knows is going to be there? You know,
Fanny Ray you.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Said you're in Manhattan. What the hell is going on
behind you right now?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Oh? You know the normal sirens, the ones we never
signed off on, Like, yeah, it was a man and man.
That's okay, that was good. That was good for the
bridge of a of somewhere of the rainbow. But these
things don't inspire any melody the story. Learner, Learner and
Lowe whoever wrote that song, you know a song? Well,

(04:02):
we don't have any other part.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
You reside in Brazil, now, how does that contrast with
the United States? Since we're talking about sirens?

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Villa News, Sorry, what did you say?

Speaker 1 (04:12):
You live in Brazil?

Speaker 2 (04:13):
I do? In contrasts, there's no noise where we live.
We live way up in the hills above some Paolo
and it's beautiful. It is a beautiful site. And it's
just like living in La if La was like really
nice and people were happy. I swear to God, I mean,
you know, and we're up in pandan a canyon literally

(04:35):
like where all the musicians were hosts had had a
studio there. We're up there where it's like Laurel Canyon
whatever to pang Get more like Topanga. It's like pretty
far away. It's forty minutes away. So it's it's just
I'm up there in this amazing place, like in this
huge house that we're buying, and it's heaven.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
I'm glad to hear that.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Get down to town in like half an hour, really
the edge of it, and you know, I get to
the studio in two hours. It's not very far. With
the traffics is something else. But listen, I'm not going
to start trying those like personal flying devices. A couple
years ago they're like they were saying, like you're going
to have one of these, and I'm not talking about

(05:18):
the jet pactic. I'm talking about there are things like
more like canoes or something where you're like, I don't know,
I'm not going to hangle out there because it's just
too dangerous.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
The book is rumors of my demise. I'm sorry, I
have to let you go. You're a delightful dude. Thank
you for talking.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Dude. We got it, we got it, got it, Thank.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
You, Thank you. Evan.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
You'd be well you too.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Thank you for listening, and you be well as well.
I'm Brett Sanders. I'll see you next time.
