Speaker 1 (00:00):
High School Basketball Magic ninety five nine here at Mohawk
where the Warriors getting eighty to thirty seven victory over
the woods More Wildcats. And we're joined by senior Kane
Hayman twenty six points for you tonight, Kane, And I
tell you one thing, and just watching you play, particularly
in this game, just looks so calm and confident. You're
(00:23):
getting into a groove. What can you tell us about
how you're feeling when you're out there and you're making
shots like that?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Uh yeah, Well, last game, obviously the team didn't have
a great game. We came off a stretch root in
practice for a while, so we got we got work
done these past couple of days and just really working
on our games, slowing each other down, and we told
ourselves like this game was gonna we're gonna be a
different team, and we're gonna come out and show our
district and everybody how we're gonna play and that we're
ready to go to win games tracing the district championship.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
So that's what it takes. And right, you know, the
reality is, you know you've got a top seed and
a lot of teams are gutting for you. They see
you as you know, that's gonna make their season if
they could get an upset. How do you keep that
focus going through because you've been through this a lot,
you're a senior player. How does that sort of work?
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, Well, Coach Done's a great coach. He always tells us,
don't try to don't try to be the ones being chase.
Are you want to be the hunter? All right? So
that's just he tells us for the game. We're on
a hunt right now. They're trying to ruin our season,
but we're hunting for championships and we want to keep
this thing rolling. We got a special group here, special
group of guys. We don't want the season end yet,
so you're just always pushing and trying to hunt everybody down.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
That's right here with Kane Hayman, the senior for the
Bohawk Warriors. And like you talked about a special group
of guys, you're one of ten seniors, so you've known
so many of your teammates for a long time. What
can you just tell us a little bit about the
journey that this has been for you guys, and now
you're on your final tournament ride for basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, I mean it's been great. You couldn't really ask
for a better group class. We started playing third fourth
grade and everybody always told us we stayed together, it
will be a special group of guys, and I mean
just their junior high and freshman year, we all stayed together,
and I couldn't ask. We're better friends. I mean, we're
all such a tight friend group. We hang out every
weekend after every game. So it's just a great group
of guys to be around with and them, we couldn't
(02:18):
really ask for a better senior year.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
So yes, and it goes by fast. I mean, yeah,
we remember you and you were still in middle school
and watching your brothers play, and wow, it's your senior
year with Kane Hayman for the Bullhawk Warriors. This was
your final home game. We knew that, regardless of result,
that would be the case. What's it been like playing
in front of these home fans and Sycamore We know
(02:40):
that they're going to want to travel with you, but
just in this gym, what's this experience been like for you? Kate?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Oh, the environment's always great. Everybody's always on their feet
cheering us along, and I think that really helps us play.
When the crowd when we got energy. The crowd's always
backing us up with energy too, So it's really just
a big motivator for us. And everybody's always great around here,
and I mean it's just awesome community and we always
be thank them for their support.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
No question about it. I guess they always come out.
So they'll be looking to travel with you for a
district semi final one Wednesday versus Toledo Christian. And like
you said, you want to make sure that you keep
things going. Just some early thoughts on what's gonna take
to have that positive result that gets that team.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah, they got They got a couple of good players
on their team, number eleven and number twenty two. There
definitely could be a problem to us. We get but
our defense, I mean we gotta play good d and
be really physical defense. Uh eleven is a big physical
kid and he can really put the ball in the basket.
So I mean, if we come ready to play and
we play like we did tonight, I think we'll come
out on top.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Right on. Well, certainly that will be really exciting for
the fans here for the Mohawk Warriors and done such
a great job and looking forward to your journey continuing,
so thanks so much Kine for joining us, and we're
gonna continue on this ryne for the Mohawk Warriors. Thank you.
Yep right sure,
