(00:00):
First ten across midfield, forty fiveyard line, hand off, the steam
off the snap, runts up aboot, that seed put a town.
He's still going any Lies team allthe way for the forty five yard touchdown
forty eight to nothing victory over Columbia. And Mike, as we were watching
you in this game, yeah, clearly you were running downhill. Seemed like
(00:23):
you were seeking contact getting those extrayards. We can just tell us about
your mindset coming into this one andhow you obviously were able to execute so
well in this contest. Really,I had a bad I had, in
my standards, had a bad gamelast week, so I really just wanted
to go out there and make acount. And then obviously my offensive line
(00:44):
did a phenomenal job, and thenI just had to capitalize on what they
give me right on. Yeah, absolutely your offensive line. I think that
forty five yard touchdown run, Kirkand I might have been able to run
it through. We couldn't have runthat fast out afterwards. I think we
saw a little more speed from youthis week than you know. We sometimes
(01:06):
give you credit for surprised. Soyou might have had an off week last
week, but you've got teammates allaround you. Austin Niedercor last week kind
of picked up the offense with hislegs, and I wondered if that might
have given your legs a little bitof a rest, a little less contact
than you normally have. Yeah,Austin really picked it up last week,
and I really appreciate him for that. And yeah, my legs to take
(01:30):
a beating, but it's a partof the job and it's fun so well.
Yeah with Eli ste and our ChimicalCorporation Player of the Game for carries
forty eight to nothing victory over Columbia. And defensively, I mean, we
know some really tremendous running backs havecome in here. You had Aiden Ramer
last week for Chris Few and youguys pretty much shut him down. And
(01:52):
then Marcos Wrigliano, who's just alltime leading rusher in the Rain County and
he obviously struggled to get going againstyou guys. What can you say about
how you were able to come togetherdefensively, especially shut down some of these
really talented running backs. I mean, these these are trebidous players out here.
Really, we think our strength isobviously run stopping you. We do
(02:14):
a good job of that and Really, our mindset each week is it if
they passed, they pass, butwe know we're gonna stop the run no
matter what. So you guys werereally loading up the box. Had eight
players seven eight players in all thetime. What are the coaches tell you
in practice? You know, againstthe back like Sirigliano, I mean,
nine hundred yard rushes in his previouseleven contests and sixteen hundred yards I mean,
(02:38):
neither of those are anything to sneezeat. And I think he actually
had more yards last year. Sowe're talking a guy that's gained four thousand
yards in two years. Yeah.Really, in practice this week and watching
film with the coaches, we knewthat he was a good back. But
we were confident in our defense, and we coaches put in a really good
(02:59):
game plan and we just executed it. What kind of schemes do you guys
use on the defensive line to kindof blow up things where you can have
you know, your defensive ends maybeget into the backfield or you know,
a blitzing linebacker at times. Really, the way our defensive set up is,
our defensive line is pretty much thereto just take up blocks and most
(03:23):
of the time we're to we justwe'll just bull rush somebody and we'll just
play two gaps, and then ourdefensive coordinator we'll send a whole bunch of
other blitzer and then we'll send ourlinebackers and create chaos in the backfield.
Well yeah, really excited up startgo for it, Jim. Yeah.
Just early in the year, Imean, there weren't a ton of tackles
for losses. But as the seasonhas gone on, it looks like,
(03:44):
you know, more and more andmore tackles for losses. They had negative
yardage in the first half right upuntil that last drive before the first half,
where I think they gained about sixtyyards, but overall in the night
less than two hundred yards total. Two year or five hundred offense. I
mean, just defensively. What's ledto you guys? You know, getting
better and better and better each week. We played Hope all out and we
(04:09):
were We had two linebackers who hadnever played before, and one of our
starting linebackers he's a senior. Hewas really good. He got hurt in
our preseason scrimmage. So the firstyear starters have really grown and we've jilted
to become a unit not just individuals. Yeah, that is tough. That's
something yeah, that a lot ofpeople don't always think about, you know.
(04:30):
With Nick Puttnham would mean, mygoodness, a tremendous player and just
not available to play this year.He was second team All Defense last year.
So yeah, like you mentioned avery talented player who has been down
this year. So with Eli Steenor a Chemical Corporation player of the game,
certainly wouldn't be fair to have you, you know, try to get
into specifics about Columbus Grove, butwe do know that the Bulldogs did win,
(04:53):
So that's your next opponent. They'vegot talented players too. Trent and
Bizarre is certainly best good quarterback forms. Just some general thoughts on what you
and your teammates need to do toget ready to have another favorable result in
the regional semifinals. We're gonna celebratethis for a little bit probably there so
(05:14):
and we're running back at practice allmorning. We're gonna watch some film and
then just go about a week.Well, you certainly deserve to celebrate it.
You guys did a great job atCongratulations, great talking to you.
As always said, you know,we're going to see you for that next
game. I just wanted to askyou one more thing. Obviously, last
home game, so that means alot to you. But tell me about
(05:34):
this crowd and uh, you knowwe saw in a state playoff run a
couple of years ago, and uh, just being able to travel with the
team. Uh, what does itmean to you to have a lot of
people in the stands rooting you on? And next week it's going to be
a neutral site. We have noidea where yet, but uh, you
know, what can you say tothe fans? Really it's a it's an
(05:56):
honor happened then because after every likefirst down and all that big flash,
you can hear them. They're goingcrazy and think about carry that they always
they've always traveled well, and it'sreally nice to have them away games and
neutral syche games. It is.We enjoy being here as well, windling
Field our last time this season. But it's a great way to go out,
my man. It's so congratulations andwe'll be seeing you next week.
(06:20):
So Eli Steam, good job,our Chemical Corporation player of the game.
Awesome, all right, So we'lltake one more break and we'll come back
and we'll wrap things up. Ido believe here from windling Field, but
again it is a final. Fortyeight to nothing. Carry defeats Colombia on
