The Morning Breeze, Morning Breeze on Demand.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Six seventeen, The Temptations and The Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and Court and it is time for the Morning Breeze
brain Teas sponsored by My Council Plumbing. You're in clean
hands with My Council Plumbing. See them online at mc
plumbing dot com. Let's hear the question one more time.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
A recent survey found that forty percent of people do
this to their food at meal time.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Okay, we're at eight seven seven nine eight one oh.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Nine eight one, and Carolyn, I think we have a
first happening right now. We actually have a couple calling
in to try their answer.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yes, Emily and Mark are holding Okay, so what do
you guys think the answer is to today's brain tease?

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Take a picture?

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Take a picture?

Speaker 5 (00:49):
Okay? Is that?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Is that your final answer?

Speaker 5 (00:51):
Yeah? Do you agree on this?

Speaker 4 (00:53):
I agree?

Speaker 2 (00:55):
So are you guys people that do take pictures of
your food and post on social media?

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Yuh?

Speaker 4 (01:00):
I think the time.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
Okay, all right, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
This makes sense. It's just using life's experiences to help
dictate the.

Speaker 5 (01:09):
Answer to Well.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
I have to say I am on their team as well.
I think that that is that sounds like the right
answer to me.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
No, then it feels, especially in this day and age,
like thet one.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
But it is not.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
It's not okay. What is the correct answer?

Speaker 3 (01:24):
A survey shows that forty percent of people salt their
food at meal time before even tasting it. Really, they
just salted before anything happens.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Do you guys do that?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
No, not worry the same year. I feel like that's
an older person thing too, Like I could see my
grandparents minding that.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
My father in law salts things before he's even tasted them.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I'm like, wow, especially if you go out to a restaurant,
stuff's already salty.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I like your answer better, you guys. I like the
pictures of the food Battery take and it's a lot healthier.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
I was it.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
It felt right.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Well, you guys are great. Thank you both for listening.
Are you both headed to work right now?

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Actually heading to the airport right now?

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Are you both going well, I'm.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Chaking my husbands to the airport. King heading to Hawaii
and we're going to be meeting him there tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Oh my gosh, how fun.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
What a great start to our vacation.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
I know, spending some time with the morning, breeze. We
love it too.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Well.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Have fun in Hawaii. You guys, thank you, and I'll
start this off for you.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
Aloha.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Oh good job, Court.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
It means hello and goodbye.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I think they know it all right. You guys have
a great trip.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Okay, bye bye. That was really funny. Oh my gosh.
I love talking to a couple. I love talking that.
We talked to people individually every day, but we never
have couples calling together.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
That was kind of fun.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
I would have been maybe a little more interesting if
they had disagreed on the answer. Are you encouraging them
to fight some discontent a little bit that totally undid
your aloha?

Speaker 5 (03:12):
Just for entertainment purposes?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
That's all okay, great, very breezy. Other than that, I
think they're great. Okay, that well done, Court, that's great.
We are at eight seven seven nine eight one, nine
eight one coming up this morning at seven forty. We
want to remind you we have your next chance to
win those tickets to go see Toto with Christopher Cross
and Men at Work at the Toyota Pavilion at Conquered Yeah, that.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Show's coming up Monday, August twenty fifth, So that's a
week from this coming Monday, and we'd love to send
you for free. So join us seven forty your next
chance to win here on the Morning Breeze and Erez
It's a song you will hear only on ninety eight
point one the Breeze Air Supply at six thirty nine.
You've got the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. And
one of the things we try to uh do every

(03:57):
single morning is do something that makes you a little
smarter mm hmm, makes you just a little more knowledgeable
about the world out there. Yeah, and we call this
segment The More You Know.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
That's right, Court.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
I've heard from people that say they love listening to
The More you Know and they talk to people once
they get to work about it, which is the greatest compliment,
saying you know what I learned this morning, it's just
all this random, these random facts. So this morning I
learned that younger generations apparently are skipping vacations because of
something that I also skip out on vacations for. And

(04:33):
you already have already ruled out it's not the lack
of money, right, you had suggested that I skip out
on vacations because of lack of money. I'm not insinuating
that you're poor or don't spend your money wisely.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
I mean you're not wrong, right. Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Younger generations are skipping on vacations because they want to
be home with their pets instead. Yes, really they feel
like when they go on vacation, they are worried about
is my pet okay? Is my pet lonely? Should I
have gone on vacation? Sixty one percent of younger kids. No,
younger generation, I should say, worry about their pets while

(05:10):
they're on vacation. So they say, you know what, I'm
just gonna skip it all together, I said earlier.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
I have done the same.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I cannot tell you how many times I have thought,
I need to plan this vacation, and then I think,
I don't know, Perk would be in the kennel for
five days, which the kennel that Perk stays at is.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Like a resort.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Sure she is fine, but it's in my mind I
have mom guild. Yeah, so I skip, so you don't
go on that vacation.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
No, this tracks because I know that there's been this
trend of the younger generations, like millennials gen Z, actually
holding off having families, yes, until later, but they're they're
getting pets instead. So if you've got those pets at
home and then you want to go on vacation, you're like,
oh man, what are we double?

Speaker 5 (05:55):
What do we do with Charlie?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah, I was gonna say, when you guys go on
vacation your family, you usually have your in laws watch
your dogs though, right, we have.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
In the past, but they live out of state, so
it's not convenient. Oh so we typically have a friend
come over and kind of house hit, house sit and
dog sit.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Okay, if the in law's weep fly in.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
And when we had our.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Old beagle Bassett hound Rosco, we would put him in
a kennel until he started to get a little older
in age, and then we just realized that's not a
he's not having any fun.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
Yeah, so that's when.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
We shifted to the house thattter dog sitter thing.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah, I know, I'm thinking about doing that with Perk
two going for it's just easier and then she stays
in her own environment.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
Right.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
I love how much we spoil our paths. I am
here for it. Please, we need more.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
Bring us so much happiness.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
We need more of this.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
I'm telling you right now, as my dog is sitting
under your feet here in the studio, you.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Have to kind of lean over to talk into this
microphone because she's right there.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
And is it worth it?

Speaker 5 (06:50):
Totally?

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Yeah thoughts.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
So anyway, the more you know, we do it every
weekday morning here at six forty, and I should say
last week, we was last week or earlier this week,
it's all blur. Somebody brought us a the more you know,
that's right. We had somebody call in and say, hey,
I've got one for you. So that's always an option
if there is something like some random fact that you're
aware of you want to share with us eight seven

(07:12):
seven nine eight one oh nine eight one, or send
us a talk back with our iHeart Radio app.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
And a reminder.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Coming up this morning seven forty, we've got more tickets
to see Toto at Toyota Pavilion Conquered coming up August
twenty fifth, that's a week from next Monday.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah, they're going to be performing with Christopher Cross and
then at Work will be there as well, so you
could be there watching all three bands. It's going to
be a great night. So'll be here at seven forty
for your chance to win those tickets on the Breeze.
It's Eric Carmon, It's seven oh five. It's the Morning
Breeze with Carolyn and Court. It's time for the Brighter Side.
Today is a very special brighter side. As you know

(07:48):
you've been hearing us ask for your nominations for the
teachers in your lives that stand out, that go above
and beyond. It's Iheartradios, thank a teacher, powered by donors Choose.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
And today we're actually going to talk to today's teacher
of the day, who is Maria Ramirez, who teaches at
Middle College High School in San Pablo.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
I know it's early, but hopefully she's not in the
classroom yet, so let's give her a call see if
we can get her on the phone with us.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Hello, Oh, did.

Speaker 5 (08:18):
We didn't wake you up?

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Did we hate waking a teacher up?

Speaker 4 (08:21):
No? No, I'm sorry. I'm getting sick. I apologize for that.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
We can't have a teacher getting sick when school is
just starting.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Just yeah you started, Yeah the fourth My classroom is
relatively small and has no windows, but yeah, I love
I love it.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Now. That's a true teacher right there.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
I think any any parent can relate to this because
you know, when you send your kids back to school
at the beginning of the school year, they're amongst all.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
The kids in the I know.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Well, miss Rameires, we are so excited for you that
you've been nominated through Iheartradios. Thank a teacher. Have you
heard what what the nomination said about you?

Speaker 4 (09:09):
No?

Speaker 3 (09:09):
No, some very very kind words were said about you.
The nominator, who is a nominate anonymous, we don't know
who they are, says that you are always ready and
willing to help the students and that you're a wonderful
teacher who likes to see your students succeed.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Oh, very sweet.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
And you may or may not know that you are
actually in the running to win five thousand dollars for
your classroom.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Can you imagine?

Speaker 4 (09:36):
Oh yeah, it's just amazing.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
What would you do, like, what would you do with
that if you were to win?

Speaker 4 (09:44):
Well, to be honest, this is my third year. Yeah,
I have, I need everything. I will only buy book
for them three core level right now I'm teaching level
two Spanish two or three and that's what I need.
And also headphones, and well I need.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Anything headphones too.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
I never thought about that yeah, it's always interesting. I
remember when my kids were younger in school, we would
always go in on the first like the orientation, and
the teachers would always kind of have a list of
things that they were in need of, and so we
would always and it's things like headphones, but it's also
like sanitation supplies just to keep the classroom calling.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Oh yeah, especially that I'm I don't know. I don't
like to ask because I know that it's hard for
some parents, even for myself. I do have a student
loans and yeah, I try to.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Understand, and I think that's something that you know, we
all realize that a lot of times teachers, you spend
out of your own pockets, but.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
People don't think that teachers, you guys, have things like.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Student loans or classes that you've taken to be able
to become a teacher, for credentials and certifications. So thanks
as would help, and we are just crossing our fingers
for you.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Please all right, Well, Ms Ramirez will let you go,
but we just wanted to congratulate you on even being nominated.
We think it's fantastic and thank you for teaching.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
No, I thank you for this amazing opportunity and yes,
I hope we win.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
We do too.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
Yeah, if there is somebody like miss Ramirez in your life,
we want to hear about them with Iheartradios, Thank a Teacher,
powered by donors.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Choose Yes.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Get those nominations in at ninety eight one The Breeze
dot Com.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Seven twenty seven with Elton John here on ninety eight
point one The Breeze. You've got the Morning Breeze with
Carolyn and Cordon. It's that time of the morning where
you steer the ship a little bit with ask us anything.
Your chance to call into the show, or text us
or email us or send us a talk back asking
your questions. Eight seven seven nine eight one nine eight
one is the number, by the way, in case you

(11:59):
want to call.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Yes, And I got a direct message this morning from
the kids.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Would call it a DM as you know court.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Yeah, Robert in Livermore who sent me a message. He said, Carolyn,
you probably heard on the news this morning about Cinnabon
rolling their prices back to nineteen eighty five. I think
they're doing like a special promotion. I saw something quick
about this.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
I think it's like a one day only thing.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he said, It got me thinking about
when I used to go to the mall in the
eighties and nineties. My friends and I would always go
to Cinnabon and all the other stores. Oh yeah, And
he said, I want to ask you in court for
ask us anything. What were some of your favorite stores
and the mall from when you were growing up. I
love that question. Such a great question, man, that's a

(12:42):
trip down memory lane.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Yeah, I remember going when I went to the mall.
It was the University Mall that I would go to
in Utah, and I would always go to Music Land
or Sam Goodie, depending on which part of the mall
we had both. Yeah, and you'd go there and you'd
look through all the tapes. Shopping for tapes was the
best one. And eventually these CD things showed up.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
What is this?

Speaker 1 (13:04):
I was so ruined by CDs. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeah, And then I would always go to Chick fil
A because at the time, the only place you could
get Chick fil A was in the mall.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
That's the only place it kind of chick fil A
back in the day, the mall.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
Yeah, they were only in the mall.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
We I had never heard of chick fil A until
just recently. Yeah, fairly recently, I mean certainly not in
the eighties and nineties.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Yeah, they come out of Atlanta, I think they But
for the longest time they were only in malls and
always closed on which is still the deal. They're always
closed on Sundays. Yeah, what about for you?

Speaker 5 (13:37):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
I'm just thinking about Cinnabon and how I would walk
into the Sun Valley mall with my friends. Somebody would
drive whoever had their license or their moms would drop
us off, right and we'd have a limited amount of
time in the mall and you would walk into the
mall and that smell of the mall was so amazing.
It was like a combination of Cinnabon and Saborrow's pizza, right,

(13:59):
oh was the best?

Speaker 5 (14:01):
Or like a Wetzel's Pretzels, like the Pretzel Place.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Bring it, absolutely. But my girlfriends and I when we
were kids, we would go to like Above the Belt
was a store where you shop and the limited and
then the boys and some of the girls shop at Pacsun.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
That was a store that was cool.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
But it was so cute that you mentioned Sam Goodie
because I started thinking about the warehouse. That's where I
would go for my cassettes. You'd shop at the warehouse
in the mall, and Paradise Bakery was in the Sun
Valley mall and they used to make not only great cookies,
like Missus Fields made great cookies. Paradise did a cookie cake.
Oh so my brothers and I back in the day

(14:41):
would ask instead of a regular cake for our birthdays,
on's say, you could get the cookie cake and it
was just a big court. You would be in heaven.
It was like a big chocolate chip cookie and they
just write happy birthday on it.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
They're not around anymore, I don't think so. I don't
think so.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
Birthday's coming up in about a month. Oh cookie Cake
putting that out.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
There, thank you. I'm doing my research right now anyway. Yeah,
those were the days. So, I mean, that's such a
great question. I love that you sent that in, Robert,
thank you. That's a great ask us anything. And I
hope that gave everybody listening a chance to kind of
go down memory lane today and think about the stores
that they missed from back in the day.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
In fact, we took this question and we put it
on our Facebook page. So if there's a store you
remember your go to store at the mall when you
were younger. You can answer that question on our Facebook page.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
I just read A Lane's comment. I just went to
our page Wet Seal, Contempo Casuals, Judy's Miller's out post.
Co'mon a Lane, see this is great. Yeah, join that conversation.
Like Court said on our Facebook page at ninety eight one,
the Breeze and coming up in just a few minutes,
talk about a trip down memory lane. Toto is coming
to town in less than two weeks now.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Yeah, that show August twenty fifth at the Toyota Pavilion
at Conquered and we've got a pair of tickets to
give away at seven forty coming up here on the
Morning Breeze.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. Hi the Breeze.
Congratulation your callar ten. Thank you, you're welcome. You not
only get to go see Toto, but you get to
see Christopher Cross and you get to see men at work.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Oh my goodness, thank you so much.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
Who is this where you're calling from?

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Anna?

Speaker 2 (16:15):
If you had to pick Toto, Christopher Cross or men
at work?

Speaker 1 (16:19):
I know this is not a fair question.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
What a question?

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Carolyn just thought i'd throw it out there, like, who
is going to be your favorite when you go to
the show.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
I like Men at Work?

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Yeah, that's so cool.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
I'm right there with you.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
You're an eighties girl. I love it.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
Well, nice job.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
You've got two tickets to see Toto, Men at Work
and Christopher Cross. That show happening August twenty fifth at
the Toyota Pavilion at Conquered courtesy of Live Nation. Tickets
on sale now at livenation dot com.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
Nice show, oh Rady, thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
You are welcome, Anna, and we will do this again
tomorrow morning, same time, seven forty.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Here on the Breeze.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
I was listening to an interview with Cindy Lauper the
other day, Court, and you know, she's kind of doing
her farewell tour right and somebody and Cindy said, I'm
retiring because I don't want to do girls just want
to have fun on stage with a walker.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
And I was like, that is so Sidney Lapper. I'd
still be okay with it. I would too.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
I would too at Cindy Lapper Morning Breeze, Carolyn and Court.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
It is eight ten, so it's a pretty significant day
in my house, Carolyn. I didn't realize how significant it
was it was going to be until you and I
were talking about this, because today my youngest daughter, Sloan
is getting school pictures.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
I know, for the final she's a senior this year.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Yeah, that's kind of how this conversation went. She's a senior,
it's her final time getting going and sitting behind that
blue background and yeah, the person snapping the photo, and I.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Know, is it that's so weird for you and Randy
when you think about that, it's almost like, I don't know.
You tell me you're the parent, but I would think
sometimes it's easier to not think about it because I
would imagine you get so emotional thinking about it being
the final old time. Quinn has already graduated, she's in college.
That chapter has closed for her so slowan not this

(18:06):
is it.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
It's a it's an entire year of last finances and
it's really.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
I'm not a fan. I'm a fan, but I'm not
a fan.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I know because she's grown up into such a great
person and I love seeing it. Yeah, but yeah, like
I bought the school packet, the little pack you know,
the package.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
I think I went with package A.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
No pack is always packaging with bazillion pictures.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Yeah, because one eight by ten, two three by fives,
a bunch of four by six is and then I
don't know a billion wallets and who uses wallets anymore?

Speaker 1 (18:40):
I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
I'm actually surprised that they still offer those hard copies
of photos because everything's digital these days.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Well, they give you all the upgrades. You can pay
for the upgrade so you can get a digital version
of it. You can get like a calendar made, which
we're doing your senior year.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
I know you have to, of course you are.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Yeah, there's all sorts of things that come in these
packages anymore. And then yeah, and then you can upgrade.
You can get a photo like touch up, like a
five dollars touch up, which is like a basic touch up.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Where was that mean?

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Oh? I remember when I was in eighth grade, I
had the worst acne on picture day. Oh really, and
my mom tried to touch up the photo herself with what
like she got like some acrylic paints out.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
That's hilarious.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
And to my mom, I say, thank you for trying
to help me out. It was really bad that year.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
I wish your mom could have touched up what I
wore from my photo in second grade. I thought it
would be a good idea to rock my brownie uniform.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
What's wrong with that?

Speaker 2 (19:46):
I can't believe my parents let me go for picture
day with my brownie. I was so proud of that uniform.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
I'm all for I.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
