Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
The Morning Breeze on demand Seltan John at six twenty two.
Here on ninety eight point one the Breeze. You've got
the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cordon, as we do
every weekday morning at this time, it's the Morning Breeze
Brain Tea sponsored by Mike Counsel Plumbing. You're in clean
hands with Mike Cancel Plumbing. Visit them at mc plumbing
dot com. Today's question. There are about one point five

(00:24):
billion of these scattered throughout America, and this one has
me stopped so many. Okay, now I will officially tell
you Carolyn, it's not cars.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Okay, it's not cars, all right? Eight seven seven nine
eight one, nine eight one. Or you can send us
a talk back with our iHeartRadio apps SOUE in Santa
Uzga morning. What is your guest for the brain Teas today?

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Buck stops or rest stops?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Truck stops, rest stops? Why do you say that?

Speaker 4 (00:52):
But we just took a trip and we relied on
them heavily.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Oh interesting, you speak from experience.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Yeah, the ones they all have a gas station out front,
and then they have all kinds of food and drinks
and whatnot. Inside, they have showers, they have bathrooms. The
truck stops are really STUPI or nice now.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
I feel like they get better the further east you go.
We haven't really like caught on to like the really
great truck stops here on the West coast. That's my
take on it. Does anybody agree with me? I have
not seen it, I know pretty good.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I'm trying to think of where I've seen a truck stop.
I guess out on like Highway five, and.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
That's when we went down to LA to catch the ship.
We took five, right.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Oh yeah, so Highway five. I could definitely see truck
stops on Highway five.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Well, and rest stops too, you know, because you have
to if you don't have truck stops, you have to
have rest stops for people to stop and go to
the bathroom.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
And sure, you know, I think that's called a shoulder
for the guys.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I was gonna say, there's a rest stop anywhere. We're
lucky that way. Great guess, but not the correct answer.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
All right, Sue, have a good rest of your Tuesday YouTube.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Bye bye, and Carolyn. Now we have a guest that's
coming in as a talkback from our free iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
Hey, Carolyn in Court, this is Brandy from Dublin. I
think the answer, or I'm going to guess that the
answer to your question today about one point five billion
of these around the country is drive through fast food restaurants.
I hope that's the answer.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
All right.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
I hope you guys are having a really good day.
And thanks again, love listening to you every morning.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Oh thank you. I through fast food restaurants. That's a
good guess. One point five billion of them scattered about America. Yeah,
that seem fills I mean, if you do the math here,
one point five billion divided by the fifty states, you've
already lost it. I don't know what the breakdown that
would be, but that's a lot. I mean, that's such

(02:54):
a good guess. Though it could be possible, because you
mean they're all over the place. You're saying it could
be possible. But then it's I'm also saying that's not
the correct answer. That is not this. What is the
answer to this? There are one point five billion two
dollar bills scattered about America, and by that I mean
in circulation. People have them in their home. Wait, five billion,

(03:16):
they're so I thought they were so rare. They're not
as rare as I think people think they are. They're unique,
they're different, they're not. They're not as common.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
So the dollar bill hiding in my house for I
don't know, thirty years because I thought they were that.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
One might be the older one, I think, any older currency,
and maybe the two dollars bills because think we went
back and it was like the silver note, it was
off the silver currency. I don't know, I'm not an
expert this, but like I have to go back and
look at it. You can go to your bank now
and ask for two dollar bills and you'll get a
fresh one.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
I didn't even know that they still printed those. Oh yeah, wow.
This has been a learning lesson as well.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
In fact, my daughter Quinn just got a tip in
a two dollar bill and she's like she's got to hear.
She's like, I don't even know what to do with this,
and I'm like, you just spend it. It's a regular
regular money.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
An am PM and I bias. Let's say to go
back to Sue with the truck stops, a slim gym
and a coke zero, which I do.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
I don't know if you can get that for two bucks.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
But anyway I can give them a two dollars bill
and then yes, wow, you certainly can.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
It's money, okay, legal tender if you will.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
It was a collectible at this point if you want
to good to know that thing in my house is
worth two dollars, all right, if it's even worth that
Morning Breeze brain teas we play every weekday morning here
at six twenty.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
And something else we do do it later in the
show eight to fifty. We go commercial free with ninety
eight minutes NonStop, commercial free relaxing favorites helping you start
your workday. Sounds good.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Yeah, we'll start that at eight point fifty. Here on
the Breeze erees the Google dolls with Iris. It is
the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cord six forty one,
and it is time for the More you know, bring
you a little factoid every morning learning moment I think

(05:02):
safe to say for all of us for sure.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
And sometimes you know, just the core. Over the course
of our conversation we learn even more I know.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
And I'm interested about this one today because you mentioned
earthquakes and being able to detect them.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah, the future of earthquake detection might already be in
your pocket. You kind of alluded to it being an app,
but it is your phone, but maybe more specifically if
you've got an Android phone. So to our iPhone friends,
which is that both you and I our iPhone people,
we're kind of left out on this, but I'm sure

(05:36):
the technology is there. Just the ability to read the
data will eventually come. My point is this Google has
teamed up with UC Berkeley and they are using your
existing phone sensors to detect and eventually warn of future earthquakes. Wow.
And it's the same things that you know when you're

(05:57):
looking at like a video on your phone and then
you turn it the sideways so you can get the
full screen. Yeah. The bit of technology that does that
is called an accelerometer, Okay, and it is so accurate
in terms of it knows when you're turning your phone
that Google has figured out how to use those to
notice that if you are standing holding your phone or
sitting in your pocket, or if it's sitting on your

(06:18):
table at home, and it moves even just a millimeter
like a teeny time.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
So it's going to tell you that there is an earthquake.
It's not going to tell you one is coming. It
doesn't predict that.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
That's what they're working on. So right now it can
if an earthquake starts, it'll know because it'll be enough
censors in the area that it will be able to
send you an alert saying drop cover hold on. Crazy
and their hope because a lot of scientists say that
there are warning signs in advance of earthquakes, they just
haven't got the technology yet to be able to track

(06:50):
all of it. Sure, but your cell phone is probably
the answer. That's so nuts.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
It's so still mind blowing to me that a device
so small can do so much. Oh, I mean, think
about how far we've come and now it's like almost
able to detect earthquakes exactly.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
That's so nice. And yeah, and this little device replaced
that home PC that you used to have, because remember
when having you know, your family got the first computer
out fight over it. Yeah, yeah, that's such small like
memory and yeah and storage and took forever when you yeah, yeah,
and now you've got more computing power in your pocket. No,
it's insane.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Wow, that's so interesting there and kind of like not
surprised by this, but I'm surprised by this, you know,
it's just a wow.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
But okay, you do have to opt in for this though.
Here's the thing. You they're just not grabbing your information
all willy nilly, So you have to opt in for
these emergency alerts. Okay. So if you're an Android user,
you go to your settings, you go to your Safety
and Emergency section, and then just turn on emergency alerts
such a trip, such a trip. Okay, good, good stuff.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
See the more you know, we do it every weekday
morning here at six point forty on the Breeze and
coming up this morning fifty we will be commercial free
once you get to the office. If you're in control
of the radio with the office, oh yeah, turn the
breeze on. We go commercial free right at eight fifty,
and we let that music play.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
For a while. Ninety eight minutes worth, yes, sir, ninety
eight minutes an eight point fifty commercial free here on
the Morning Breeze seven nine with Will to Power Here
on ninety eight point one the Breeze. It's the Morning
Breeze with Carolyn and Court and time now for the
Brighter Side. Sponsored by Shriving Company. Luxury time Pieces find
designers and flawless diamonds. The brighter side is where you

(08:30):
call in and share something good that's happened in your life.
For example, Carolyn, maybe you tried a new recipe and
you just knocked it out of the park. Yes, it's
a great reason call in, Absolutely a great brighter side.
I'd also like that recipe. Feel free to share eight
seven seven nine eight one nine eight one. That is
how you reach us.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
It's Dan in Alameda. So you said you've got a
brighter side for us. What's your brighter side?

Speaker 6 (08:56):
I kindly, but I want to say thank you. I'm
listening to the breeze driving into the city. You made
the drive a lot easier. So thank you, Dan.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Good for you.

Speaker 6 (09:10):
No more driving over the Bay Bridge.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
That has got to be Dan.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
How many years have you been doing that drive over
that Bay Bridge?

Speaker 6 (09:19):
We're talking about nineteen eighty.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Okay, So I am doing the math on this forty
five years times. Let's say, what do you think court
like to sixty two hundred and sixty work days in
a year. That's eleven thousand and seven hundred trips over
the Bay Bridge You've made.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
Oh my gosh, Dan, I am closing out a forty
plus year career.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Wow, I feel pretty good.

Speaker 6 (09:45):
Right, it feels good. I've had my car radio downed
into ninety eight point one for close to twenty years.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
WHOA, Well, here's the thing, Dan, you can even though
you won't be driving in and listening to the morning
breeze on your drive in, you could still listen to
a say on the iHeartRadio Music app. There you go.

Speaker 6 (10:03):
But I did want to say thank you. You've spent
a wonderful commit partner.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Thank you well, Dan, congratulations again, and thank you for calling.
And just remember we're always a phone call away, all right,
have a great time.

Speaker 6 (10:18):
You guys are doing a great job. Thank you for
being my car pool buddy.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Oh that makes me want to cry. Okay, bye Dan,
Thank you Dan.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
It's weird to say goodbye to a listener like I
know he'll still be able to listen to us at home.
But we become people's routine in the morning, sure, and
we feel it as much as you do. We feel
like we're right along with you, riding shotgun with you
in your car every morning. So to hear someone say well,
my life is going to change like makes me.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
It makes me so sad. Talking to Dan just now.
I know I started to get emotional. I know me too.
But we're happy for you dance. We are. That's that's
huge for him. So congratulations.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
If you've got a brighter side for us eight seven
seven nine nine eight one, this is a good time
to remind you we are looking for our next Morning
Breeze Person of the Week.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
By the way, yes, it's the celebration of the good
and great people in the Bay Area doing those good
things but not being recognized for them. We'll take care
of the recognizing part.

Speaker 3 (11:14):

Speaker 1 (11:58):
What is your bucket list vacation location?

Speaker 5 (12:01):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yeah, bucket list vacation location.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Yeah, I think for me a cruise to Alaska. It's
on my list. I need to do it. Haven't done it.
I just need to suck it up and schedule.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
And cruises are an easy way for you to vacation
because you always have a place to retreat to. Yeah,
and the food's always there and then you can go.
You're basically in a different place every day.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Great way to see Alaska. I like that.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
I'm going next to August.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Is it not a Princess cruise line?

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Nice?

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Is this cruise your bucket list or is there something
else that's on your list?

Speaker 1 (12:36):
My bucket list is the Hotter Balloon Festival in New Mexico.
Oh yeah, whoa, but I want to see it from
the ground, so yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
That is cool. What's your what's your bucket list? My
bucket list vacation would be like a place in the
in the South Pacific, like a Bali or a Fiji,
like somewhere just go or just.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Yeah in blue Water. Oh that sounds sad. On do
you have room for a morning show co host on
that trip?

Speaker 2 (13:08):
If you do go? Are you asking me? Well, I
guess I should ask Randy.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
My other bucket list is Ireland, Switzerland, types of Norway,
those types of countries.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah, Switzerland's I must see. I've lived in Switzerland you.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Yeah, I learned so much about you every day.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
I know.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Well that makes two of us. By the way, I
lived in Switzerland. Yeah, I know, I know. You just
dropped that on my did not know this about him.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
This is why I ask us anything is great because
I I learned about course from you guys asking us questions.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
So that worked out great.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Guys have a great day than call of course.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
And that is how ask us anything works. If you've
got a question, you call eight seven seven nine eight
one nine eight one. But there's another other great way
for you to send in your question.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
There is another other great way for you to send
your questions, and that would be our iHeart radio app.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
You could use that talkback microphone. Yeah, easy to do
while you're streaming the breeze. Just look for the red
microphone button. You click it, you leave your message. You
can even preview it, review it, dump it. It gives
another one.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
It gives you a countdown. Yeah, five four, three, two one. Record, Yes,
the preview. It's very easy, so send us your talkbacks
that way as well. Our iHeartRadio app free in your
app store.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
It's a relaxing favorite from Taylor Dane at eight oh nine.
Here on ninety eight point one The Breeze You've Got
The Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Quart.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
I mentioned a minute ago that I had the sweetest
moment with my mom yesterday and I wanted to share.
I shared part of it on my social media on
Facebook and Instagram. But there's like more to the story
that I didn't share that I thought was cute and
people might appreciate it, might put a smile on your
face as you start your day. Sure, So yesterday I
took my mom to get her hair done. It it's
very important. Still in my mom's nails and her hair

(14:58):
look great. So I make sure my mom. For those
of you that have never heard me talk about her,
she has dementia and she lives at Carlton Senior Living
in the memory care community, and so to get her
out is a big deal, right, And so I took
her to get her hair done yesterday and we came
back and the girls were like fawning all over her,
that meaning the care partners that work at Carlton Senior Living.

(15:20):
And it was just such a like a special day
for her to go out have her hair done. Her
nails are looking great. She came back and she just
felt so great, right, all this attention on her. Well,
because her appointment was like at noon, she didn't have
a chance to eat. So I went to Jimmy John's
and got her roast beef sandwich the Mini Jimmy, which
is her jam. She loves the roast beef there. And

(15:43):
so I brought the sandwich back and it's like two o'clock.
So I took her into the main dining room at
Carlton Downtown Pleasant Hill and we sat in there and
she ate her roast beef sandwich and I said, this
has been a great day. Has you got your hair
all done? People are falling all over you when you

(16:03):
get back, like you're a real rock star. And she said, yeah,
but you know, and this is like this is a
big deal to me because it's hard for my mom
to communicate now, you know. So she said, you know
what the best part was though, And I said what?
And she goes this, like sitting in assisted living at
a table with just the two of us, she's enjoying

(16:27):
a sandwich. We used to go to Las Vegas a
lot when my mom was able to go to Las Vegas,
and we'd go sit in the dining room, you know,
at the casino and have a buffet, and so it
was very reminiscent of that. And I think that she
loved that, as did I. So I think that this
little moment sitting in the dining room, you know at

(16:48):
Carlton Downtown, Pleasant Hill, having a sandwich, like she just
loved it.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
It's a special moment.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Wasn't that so cute that she said that for somebody
who it's so hard for her to get her words out, yeah,
and her thoughts out because of the cognitive challenges, Like
that was such a moment.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
It was so cool. It's pretty great. I know, over
the weekend, I had this moment. It's very very similar
where my wife and my two daughters, we were all
in the same room because we've all all got such
busy schedules and we were just eating and just talking
and I just sat there. I'm like, holy cow, the
four of us are together in the same room. It's
probably very similar to it was, just there was nothing

(17:24):
special about it, yeah, other than the four of us
were in the same room at the same time.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Yes, And you realize as all of us people listening
to were so busy and you sometimes don't have those
moments because everybody's going in different directions and you're doing
all your things. So when you do recognize that like
you did with your family, like my mom did and
your mom, Yeah, it's it's so important. It's like getting
back to your roots, you know. So I love that
and I hope you put a smile on everybody's face.

(17:49):
It was a real special moment anyway, for sure. Sure,
and thank you Corey. We're at eight seven seven nine
eight one, nine eight one, coming up later this hour
at eight fifty this morning, start out your workday.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
We're going commercial free here on the Breeze. Yeah, ninety
eight minutes of NonStop, commercial free relaxing favorites and we'll
kick that off at eight point fifty here on the Breeze.
