The Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court and every weekday
morning at this time at six twenty we do the
Morning Breeze brain Tease. I feel like we're like a
(00:22):
nice assist getting you up in the morning. Sure, turning
on that nogin, getting you into the office. You go
in hot because you've been thinking about what's the answer
to the brain teasy.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Oh yeah, I would dare say that the improvement to
work quality in the Bay Area has drastically, drastically improved.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Since we launched the Morning Breeze Brain Teese. I had
to have to concur we're patting ourselves on the back
this morning. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, So Morning
Breeze Brain teas sponsored by Mike Council Plumbing. You're in
clean hands with my Council Plumbing. See them online MC
plumbing dot com. All right, today's clue, today's question. One
in four, So twenty five percent of US homes have
(01:02):
one of these. Okay, twenty five percent or one in four.
It's the same thing.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I know cour I just I feel like saying it
in the percentage ways it gives it paints a better picture.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
I know what you're doing. Yeah, yeah, okay eight seven
seven nine eight one nine eight one. Tammy and Napa,
good morning. You've got to guess what is it?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
How about fish?
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Fish like a like a fish tank, like a fish tank.
I love it. Yeah. I used to have a fish tank.
I had a fifty five gallon tank with African sicklids
in it. Wow, it's a big o' tank. Do you
know I was a fish person. I had no idea.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
I know.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
We used to have a take too, oh a long
time ago.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah, there are hard There are so high maintenance, are they, Tammy?
Which is typically why you get rid of why we.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Don't have it anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
It was too that in my backyard and collected rain
water for a good two years, and then it went
to the dog. Now you have dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
We hear dogs are easier careful than fish, certainly, Bruno
and Cody.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
I love the answer, but it's not the correct one.
But it was fun to talk to you, Tammy. Thank
you and have a great Friday.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
It's fun to talk to you too.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Thanks for calling. Okay, bye Tammy, Bye Brenda in San Ramon,
good morning. What's your guests one.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Of those EV chargers in their garage?
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Oh that's good. One in four days. You'd think, Yeah,
do you have one? Do you have an electric car?
Speaker 3 (02:28):
No? I am clinging to fossil fuel for all it's
worth as long as.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
It'll have me.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
One in four US homes having an EV charger, Great answer,
Great guests, Not the one we're looking for today, correct answer.
One in four homes in America have an outdoor deck,
which seems low.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
That doesn't seem low to me.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
That kind of depends on what part of the country
you're in here, don't I guess? I mean that kind
of seems like I would think here in California would
be higher.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
So it's averaging it out across the country. So yeah,
twenty of the homes in the US have an outdoor deck,
which means seventy five percent do not.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
I don't think I've ever had a deck. Oh, they're great.
Are we talking to deck that's like up high right,
like a traditional deck that's like, you know, like a
rich people deck. Well, you have to be rich to
have a deck. Well, let mean let's ask the expert, Court,
do you have a deck? I have owned homes that
have had decks, Yes, and I don't think.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
We found it.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
What's like, we found a rich person, not a rich man.
I am not a rich man. All right, Brenda, thanks
for calling in this morning. Have a great day, guy,
you too, Happy Friday.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
I never would have put owning a deck next to
being somebody that's rich.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
A deck involves of you, or that you live on
a hill. That hill might not be a great hill.
You might be on the wrong side of the hill.
I don't know, Court, this is a lot. It's six
twenty three in the morning right now, all right, all right,
we are at eight seven seven nine, eight one, nine
eight one coming up this morning at seven thirty five.
(04:04):
You definitely want to be here. We are so excited
about the show. It is officially one week from today.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, Barry Manilo at the Oakland Arena, and all week
long we've been handing out these tickets and we'll do
it again seven thirty five.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yes, I mean the fact that Barry Manilow is going
to be in the Bay Area singing all his songs
great and our Breeze listeners are going to be there
for free, for free. Be here at seven thirty five,
like Court said, your chance to win on the Breeze
and Breeze Billy Joel at six forty three. Here on
ninety eight point one the Breeze. It's the Morning Breeze
(04:36):
with Carolyn and Cord. And if you walk away from
today's show with.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Just a little bit, just a little bit smarter I feel, Carolyn,
then we have done our job, because right now it
is time for the more.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
You know, it takes me right back back in the
day when you'd watch that on TV, earning life lessons
from celebrities. Yes, all right, So they're saying that you
should always, always, always do this one thing before you fly,
(05:09):
and that one thing is you should always print your
boarding pass because we've morphed to a world now where
it's all digital. It's all on our phones, on the app.
And they're saying, if your phone dies, or if you
lose service or the Wi Fi you know, crashes on
the phone, the app crashes for the airline, anything along
(05:32):
those lines, having that printed boarding pass with you that
you can just whip out and be like here it is,
you know, having it as a backup. It's one piece
of paper. Put it in your wallet or your purse
or your bag whatever. Your life will be so much
easier versus if you don't have that and you're running
around the airport trying to find yeah, somewhere to print
it somewhere and someone to help, and maybe you're late.
(05:54):
So they're saying, like, before you even leave the house,
just print this thing up and take it with you.
It's a good remind you. I think I didn't have.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
To get ink for my printer. I can't I tell you,
I wouldn't have to tell you the last time that
I've used the printer at.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Home court Just print it at work?
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Does I'd have to log into the account on a computer.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Is just just so in so you'd rather run around
the airport and try and find somebody to print it
for you than type in all www dot Southwest Airlines
dot com or whatever it is. I'm more of an
Alaska guy, but whatever, who cares? That's not the point.
I just like, I don't know about this. I appreciate
the tip.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
But I.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Have a great flight all the times that I have flown,
I've just never ever had this issue before of my
phone dying or not being able to pull it up
on the app. You can just save your thing to
your wallet and it's got the barcode. Wow, you're really
fighting this, and I know you'll find this surprising. Isn't
(07:02):
the whole idea behind this to save trees? Because we
don't need to print those go ahead passes? Go ahead court,
keep going. Oh but I.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Will say this, when you go and you like check
in your bag a lot of times, you can ask
them to print you a ticket, or if it's all
a lot of it's automated. Now you have to you
go to a machine and you check in and get
your tags that are like you want a ticket, And
I guess I'll be like, oh fine, Carolyn told me
you actuld.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Get a ticket.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
I think we just witnessed in real time you turning
into a grumpy old man, like it just happened. Time
checks is forty six. Anyway, Hey, we're just here to
try it next time. Oh my god, go to the airport.
I will strongly consider your your opinion on this. Okay,
your suggestion. Thank you so much for the help on
(07:49):
this court. I appreciate it. Yeah, all right, we're at
eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one, be
here at seven thirty five this morning, we have your
next chance to go see Barry Manilow.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Yeah, a lot of people excited about this and we
are too. He's sitting the stage at the Oakland Arena
July eighteenth, and of course, Barry Manilo, he's going to
play all of those hits, all of those jingles that
we know him.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
F fo No.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Next Friday, he's going to be in town and hopefully
you'll be there. Be here at seven thirty five. On
the Breeze this week, it is Kathleen who's nominating her
daughter Tonay to be our morning Breeze Person of the Week.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
And we've got Kathleen on the phone. Kathleen, tell us
why you nominated today.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Back during the recession, I was in aviation and got
laid off like ten times in five years. And I
have my children are ten years apart. Denay's the oldest.
The youngest of is Gabrielle. During that time, things got
really crazy and Denay stepped in and took care of
her sister, took her in all that and then about
(08:48):
I want to say, ten years later, she had epilepsi
as a child, so she was nine, but then it
went away for twenty years. Then when she was twenty
nine it resumed. Anyway, her sister has been her caregiver
ever since.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
So today has been the caregiver to your other daughter.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
To Gabrielle. Gabriel works, but he has a kind of
epilepsy that is what they call. It breaks through the medicine,
so it's kind of uncontrolled. But thank god, you know,
it's like every two months, every three months, but it's devastateing.
So today has been my angel. They're both my angels.
But Toy has been a saint to her sister and
(09:29):
her husband as well. But Today has done this primary
caregiving and I just wanted to acknowledge her, you know, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
It sounds like today stepped in at a time in
your life where you weren't able to care for your
daughter the way you wanted to. But today, you know,
being the older sister, she was right there, ready to go.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
She was right there, ready to go, and has been
with us this ethence she lives with today. They're just
as tight as you could be.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Well, it says a lot about you too, Kathleen, that
you've raised a well two really great daughters.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Oh, thank you, thank you. They're very loving human beings.
I'll tell you that, I really really are.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Is she working right now? If we tried to call her,
do you think she would answer the phone?
Speaker 3 (10:12):
You know she goes out in queen's houses, so she
has her own business. Just be very male. Well, Mike, okay, okay,
we're going to.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Put you on hold real quick. I'm going to try
and get her on the phone with us. So give me,
give me one second. We'll be right back. He Hi,
Is this Tonay here today? This is Carolyn and Court
from ninety eight point one The Breeze. We also have
your mom on the phone with us.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Okay, baby mom. Hey, well, I had nominated you for
a Person of the Week because I listened to it
all the time. I don't want to start crying.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yeah, it happens all the time. If that makes you
feel bad, okay, if you do.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I just wanted to say, how waitful I am. You
were born to me. You know you never wanted or
got another blessing as much as I have had in you.
And I thank you so so very much good caring
for your first I can't put it in words, you know that.
And so I heard about this and I said, I
(11:20):
got it. I gotta nominate you. I love you. You're
so welcome. I love you so much. That's so cool.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
She was telling us about how you take care of
Gabrielle and what an amazing sister you are to her,
and of course what a great daughter you are. And
we do this every week. We take a lot of
nominations that come in and we select a person of
the week that we feel like that person goes above
and beyond and does great things for others in their
lives or just in general in the Bay Area. And
(11:50):
you are this week's Morning Breeze person of the Week.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Oh wow, that's awesome, so cool.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
But today there's a little bit more to this because
we also like to do something for you that you
might not normally do for yourself, which is give you
the day off one Sunday morning, go have brunch on
the bay courtesy of City Cruises.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Oh wow, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
You're going to go out on one of their beautiful boats,
have some breakfast, take some time off, and let people
wait on you for once.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Absolutely what you need. Thank you guys so much.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
We were saying, you know so much before we brought
you on the phone, like obviously, what a great daughter
you are, and we were saying it comes from your mom.
I mean, she's done a wonderful job raising you, I
would imagine.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
For sure, Yes, by yourself, for sure. Yeah, I've never
had this before, I know, right, Thanks Mom, and thank
you guys.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Oh, we're happy to do it. Well, girls, go have
a good day, and we appreciate you listening. Kathleen, thank
you for calling and thanks for submitting to for us.
This is great.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Oh, thank you. Thank We really appreciated it.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Oh my gosh, we're more than happy to do it.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
I love this so much, Caroline, me too. So if
there is somebody like Tonay in your life, we want
to hear about them. It's easy to submit your nominations.
Just hop on our website ninety eight one the Breeze
dot Com.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Corner at seven twenty eight Morning Breeze, Carolyn and Court
And it's that time of the morning where we somewhat
turn the show over to you with ask us anything,
your chance to call into the show and pretty much
ask anything that might be on your mind. The really
good questions that you guys are coming up with. Yeah,
and we we do say nothing is off limits. Wink
wink wink. I mean we're pretty open. Sure you can
(13:44):
ask the question, we just might not answer it. Okay, well,
court might not. All right, We're at eight seven seven
nine eight one, nine eight one.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Or send us your questions using the talkback feature on
our free iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
All right, So today's Ask us Anything comes from Carrie
and Petaluma, who sent us an email and she said,
there is someone on social media that I want to
stop following, but I don't want to make things awkward.
What should I do? Ah, Let's be honest, we've all
been there. Yeah. I was just thinking about that the
other day. People don't get notifications when you unfollow, but
(14:18):
if it's somebody who follows how many followers they have,
they're paying attention to that overall number. Like I have
five hundred followers and now I've got four ninety nine.
Who left? Is there a way for people to be
able to tell who left? I keep seeing that there's
like apps and websites that will tell you who's left,
and that may be true. I don't know if it
(14:39):
is or not, but here's the safe bet. Okay, most
social media platforms have a mute function, so you don't
actually unfollow them. Oh, you just mute them so that
you don't I've muted people for sure, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Because that's we're talking about somebody in your life or
somebody that you followed their posting all the time.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
They're posting stuff that you don't want to see. Yeah,
and you're just you've reached that point. You're just like,
I don't I don't want to see this. Well, and
the nice thing about the mute function is it just
silences them. I think it's like thirty days. It's like
a it's like a is it a snooze some of them.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Some of them will do the thirty days. Some of
them are permanent, okay, and then you can go in
and take that off.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
You're like, okay, I'm good. But the nice thing is
they don't see that anybody unfollowed them. You just don't
see their stuff anymore. But you're still friends, right, And
then if that's a good idea of court, Yeah, and
if you want to go see their stuff, you specifically
go to their profile and look at it. Okay. I
like that. That's better than unfollowing, because unfollowing is very severe, right,
So that's good and a good reminder for all of us.
That's a good, good question, and that could make it
(15:39):
awkward when they find out. Yeah, great one, Carrie. Okay,
And that's exactly how this works. Ask us anything. We
do it every weekday morning. It's seven twenty five. We
welcome your questions like Carrie did via email. You could
also send us a talk back with our iHeartRadio app
or call us at eight seven seven nine eight one
oh nine eight one.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
And coming up in just a few short minutes seven
thirty five, another chance for you to win those tickets
to Bury Manilow one week from today. I know he's
at the Oakland Arena.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
He's going to sing so many songs and ps jingles
because he wrote a lot of jingles back in the
day for commercials that you probably saw in television. So
be here just a few minutes seven thirty five this
morning for your chance to win those tickets here on
the Breezewain it is eight o seven here on the
Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Carolyn, as you know, I've had family in town, my
in laws visiting the Bay Area for that. They've been
here before, but never spent a lot of time, right,
And they were here for a few days.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Almost five six days. Okay, so that meant a lot
of eating out. Yes, I don't know why we I'm like,
we can just eat at home. They're like, no, let's
go enjoy the restaurants here in the Bay Area. Well,
that either means they want to go enjoy the restaurants
in the Bay Area truly, or you don't like my
cooking exactly. Yeah, I think they wanted to try the
Bay Area. Quis sure, it's got to be that. Of course,
(16:57):
it has to be that. So out to dinner with
friends or family and the check comes due at the end, yes,
and there is that fight between family members over who's
going to pick up the check. And it's in laws too,
so they're like parents to you, so they want to
do the parental Sure, they're also trying to be polite.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Ah and so, but I've kind of learned with my
with my because they're my in laws.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
I'm just like, I'm going to let them pay. You do.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Sure, I'll put up a small fight, but they're insistent.
My wife, on the other hand, because it's her parents,
she wants to pay.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Oh I thought that would be the opposite that you
would try to pay and Randy would be like, go ahead,
mom and dad.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Whoa So just sitting there witnessing my wife and my
mother in law fight over who's going to.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Pick up the check? That is really funny. Yeah, And
at a certain point I just I just would. I'm like,
just let them pay. It is funny. Yeah, of course
he did. But it is funny because it is family.
So it totally changed which is the dynamic. If it's
just friends and you're out with friends, then the fight
ensues in like right, it's how it goes. But when
it's family, it adds another level of just a different
(18:10):
dynamic for sure.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
I remember as a kid watching my dad and my
grandpa nearly come to blows fighting.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Oh yeah, like it would. It got pretty heated, like
my god, and my grandpa insisted that he was going
to pay.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
I wonder for people listening, like what your family dynamic
is and how you handle that when you go out
with your family, do you always let the parent pay
or as the child, the adult child, or do you
fight with your family? And I hate to say fight,
but do you argue with your family as to who's
going to pick up the check eight seven seven nine
eight one oh nine eight one, or maybe you send
(18:45):
us a talk back with our iHeartRadio app. We'd love
to hear from you. This will be interesting and a
reminder coming up later this hour at eight fifty, as
you begin your workday heading into the weekend, we're going
to give you ninety eight minutes of commercial free music.
We have so much good music coming up for you.
So whatever you have going on today, maybe you made
it a four day work week, oh lucky you because
it's summer and you're home today, or maybe you're working
(19:10):
from home or doing quotation marks. Whatever you have going
on today, thank you for making us a part of
your of your day. We appreciate it, and we are
going commercial free at age fifty here on the
