Speaker 2 (00:03):
Demand Ario Speedwagon. It's six seventeen here on ninety eight
point one The Breeze. It's The Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and corna songs kind has a summary feel to it,
doesn't know, Yeah, it does summer love certainly. So yes,
I got deep. Yeah I bring that up because this morning,
our Morning Breeze brain teas is very much summer focus.

(00:25):
We do this every weekday morning at this time. It's
sponsored by My Council Plumbing. You're in Clean Hands with
Mike Counsel Plumbing. Visit them at mc plumbing dot com. Okay,
so here's that question. A recent survey took a look
at the most popular summer activities and to help you out,
we're going to rule out number two, which is going
on vacation.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Which I thought would be number one. Yeah's that's why
I'm bringing it up. So what is number one? All right?

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Eight seven seven nine, eight one oh nine eight one.
That is how you reach us Ming and San Jose,
Good morning, Happy Friday to you. What is your guess?
I mean, I mean, yeah, that's a great summer actime.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
You have a good summer swim. Do you swim during
the summer ming?

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Well, I'm bicycling modern swimming. But I just visited my
kids and my grandkiss love the water.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Oh yeah, oh that's so cute. Just kids swimming in
the summer is great. That's how life should be.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Yeah, just be outdoing you know, it's the greatest gift
in the summer. Wee get in California.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah, that's just it.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Get in the summer months and you no longer have
you can go swimming all sorts of places. It's not
just reserved to swimming pool. Yeah, all that said, not
the correct answer this morning.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
My goodness, but Ming, I love that you're out enjoying
your summer. You're bicycling. That's great.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Thank you. We appreciate your work too.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
Have a good day.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Goodbye you Toming, Thank you, Susan and san Mateo. What
do you think? The answer is skiing our jet skiing
kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Oh, water skiing and jet skiing. Yeah, I don't see
people water skiing as much anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
I miss that. Has it lost its popularity? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Wait, boarding is super popular. Boarding is popular, and jet
skiing for sure. Tubing is popular too, Susan. You ever
get tossed off of a tube?

Speaker 5 (02:09):
No, although I think.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
It would be fun.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Oh it's so fun, court of you. I have you
just roll on top of the water and you just
feel like. We used to do a double tube my
friends and I on the back of a boat. It
was not safe in any way, and we would do
tube wares. Really yeah, I was.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
It was not good. There's always a bloody nose and
broken something.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
Oh wow, A good talk.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Eight?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
So is uh she right?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Is water sports like a water skiing the correct answer? No,
that is not what we're looking for today.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Okay, what is the most popular summer activity?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Most popular summer activity according to this recent poll is
eating ice cream?

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Oh that's true. You could be a kid, you could
be an adult.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
I can see that.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
What's your go to summer ice cream? I like the
vanilla that's dipped in the chocolate on the cone. Oh,
I like the dairy Queen the DQ Yes, yeah that's me.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
My daughter Quinn is big time into that right now,
and we go almost every night these days.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Oh really, that's like good a sweet treat. I guess
we have to.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Really hot gay I.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Take my husband there there you go all right, take
care guys, you too.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
You know.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
The thing too about the dip cone for me is
I love that hard chocolate outside on the cone, but
if you get a weird bite, that thing crumbles on
you and then you've got those little chocolate pieces.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
You know what I'm saying. If you're eating it like
in the car, then it's in your lap. It's melting.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Sure, it can become a whole thing, but man, it's
good when it goes well.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Oh yeah, I love the hard shell. You can't go
wrong with it.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Though I've always wondered what it's like to be the
dipper because you got to you gotta make the ice
cream cone, and then you got to do that quick dip.
And I'm probably overthinking this. I don't think it's as hard.
I think you can just turn that upside down because
it's so cold and frozen. It's an r it'll hold, yeah,
and then to dip it, and then.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
I'm really gonna take you back. Do you remember when
magic shell came out?

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Yeah, magic shell that you'd buy in the tube in
the ice cream section. The same concept where it hardens. Yeah,
but it's like hersty syrup, but it's hard shell it.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Is, yeah, oh yeah, but that was like in the
eighties the nineties magic Shell when that came out and
you could kick your ice cream up a notch with that.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
That was a jam.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
And then they started At first it was chocolate, and
then they started making it into flavor.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
It's so much magic shell.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
There's like a Reese's Peanut butter one. What yes, you
can get You take the chocolate and the Reese's Peanut
butter one. You mix the two together and you are
in heaven.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Wait, is magic shell still around? Oh it's still around.
Oh ye oh yeah, it never went away.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
We should bring that in here and do it. I
just want to excuse me. Ice cream in the studio,
all right, right, Morning Berries, Brain Teas. We play every
weekday morning at six twenty. You can reach us anytime
at eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Coming up this morning seven forty. If you you're asking yourself, hey,
I wonder if the Morning Breeze has more tickets to
see Heart.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Of course we do, yeah, of course we do. Seven forty.
Another chance to win those tickets.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
They're at the Chase Center August tenth, and we'd love
to send you for free. So be here seven forty
your chance to win on the Morning Breeze erees.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
It's Michael Jackson six forty.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Good morning, it is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
If you listen to the show all the time, first
of all, thank you. Second of all, you know that
every morning at this time we do. The more you
know this morning, Court's got it.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
I do.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
So it's no secret that proper hydration is important to health,
whether it just be overall health, cognitive functions, energy levels,
oh all, weight control.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
If you're looking.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
At like oh yeah, yeah, like skin health, yeah for sure. Yeah,
if you're looking to lose weight, one of the easiest
things you can do is just increase your water intake. Okay,
So food typically provides about twenty of the water a
person needs every day.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Especially fruits and vegetables.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Well, that's just it. If you want to increase the
water intake, but you have you know, you struggle to
sip on a water bottle. Yeah, increasing water rich fruits
can help you out, for sure. So maybe you're a
parent and you've got a kid that just does not
like to drink water, maybe give them a big ol'
thing a watermelon.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
They do this at my mom's place at the senior
living because it's hard to get seniors sometimes to drink
their water and they get to dehydrated and they get
a little loopy. So they feed them fruits that are
water concentrated, like watermelons, like cantalope or honeydew.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Exactly right, we have melons. Is an easy way to
do it.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
So obviously, water rich fruits not a substitute for actually
drinking water, sure, but if you want to help out
a little bit, they get watermelon. Ninety two of watermelon, surprisingly,
not surprisingly is water.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Based on the fact it's called water melon. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Strawberries also a really great source of water, believe it
or not. H cantalope as you mentioned, pineapple, oranges, grapefruit,
and peaches.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Oh that sounds so good right now, right, Plus you're
getting fiber, it's a bonus.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Just be careful of all that sugar, all that sugar
and all that fiber. Oh too, you overdo it, that's
on you. Yeah, but this was good, super easy way
for you to just increase a little bit your water intake.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Help you out.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
I love this, especially as we were in these warmer months.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Now, I want fruit? Do we have anything in the
fridge here? You know what, I wouldn't eat anything out
of this fridge even if we did, right, I.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Was gonna say, I haven't heard of any fruit being
in the kitchen, but I did hear some donuts.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
How much water.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Do donuts in the kitchen right now? Maple glaze? Probably
not that much, but it's a really good donut.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
All right.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
It's the more, you know. We do it every weekday
morning at six forty. You can reach us at eight
seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one. Coming up
in a few minutes. Just after seven o'clock this morning,
we are going to reveal this week Morning Breeze Person
of the Week.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Yes, it's our weekly celebration of great people in the
Bay Area doing good things for their family, doing good
things for their community, doing good things for coworkers.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
We got a lot of nominations this week, and we
are very excited to share this week's winter with you.
So make sure you're here just after seven o'clock to
find out who it is, hear their story and what
they've done that's so incredible. We'll do that just after
seven o'clock here on the Morning Breeze.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
It's that time of the week where we stop down
and recognize great people in the Bay Area by naming
somebody the Morning Breeze Person of the Week. These are
people doing good things for their community, their families, their coworkers,
and in this case, the smallest and youngest among us.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Yeah, I was saying that we got a bunch of
nominations this week, which is awesome. It was a hard
decision to make, but this week it is Stephanie who
nominated Christina. So Stephanie, tell us why you nominated Christina
for our Person of the week.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
She is a preschool teacher at a preschool in Daily City.
It's also a school that my kids have gone through,
and she has been there I would say close to
close to twenty years. She teaches the four year old
class and she's just amazing, amazing with the kids, very loving,

(09:17):
very warm, and is able to anytime there's an issue
with like drop off or stuff like the kids love
going to her, and she's able to I think just
that transition of like parents drop off leaving kids to
get the get the kids into the class, she's able
to make that transition just so much easier and then

(09:38):
just just puts in a lot of like I think,
like work out a time outside of work, Like we
see her at like kids' birthday parties that the kids
love for some much stay like well their parents. They
want to buy her their.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Dad an ultimate compliment.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
I can't imagine a teacher ever coming to one of
my birthday parties as a kid, right.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
I know, I'd be like a celebrity.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
Yeah, she's just very like warm and nurturing. I think
just came one, I'm sure, and like like like a teacher.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
You hit on something, Stephanie, that really resonated with me.
This one of the scariest moments in raising my two
daughters was dropping them off for the first time at
preschool and then eventually kimergarten. It's just such a scary
moment for parents because you're like, are they ready for this?
Are they gonna miss me? Am I gonna miss them?
And then when you have somebody like miss Christina who

(10:29):
is there loving them just as much as you, then
it just makes you feel so much better.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
You know you've made the right decision.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Yeah, totally. I think that's how most of us at
the school feel. We feel like like we're dropping our
kids off and they're not just gonna be fun, they're
gonna thrive, like they're gonna do very well. And we're
like confident in that.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
And so, yeah, you just answered one of my questions,
which was, how do you guys know each other?

Speaker 1 (10:54):
So is your child a student at her school?

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Yeah, they used to be. I have two and the
one just graduated pre school and we'll be starting kindergarten.
So she's like, it's like kind of like just finished
she had two of my kids.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
And so yeah, okay, well, we're going to put you
on hold for just a second. We're going to try
calling her to see if we can get her on
the phone with us. So sit tight, we'll be right back. Okay, okay, okay,
hold on.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Hi.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
This is Christina.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Hey, Christina, it's Carolyn and Cord from ninety eight point one.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
To Breed And we also have Stephanie on the phone
with us as well. Steph, why did you tell Christina
why we're calling? Oh?

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Okay, yes, they're calling because I nominated you for a
Person of the Week for all the work that you
do I hope, like for the kids, for the families,
and I did not know this is going to happen.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Oh are you okay?

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Thank you? So, I'm I cannot cry in front of
the kids.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
No, Christina. We do this every week.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
We pick one person out of the Bay Area that's
been nominated by our listeners who just tells us these
wonderful things about them, And this week we have chosen
you because of all that you do for the kids,
from just being an amazing teacher, but also going above
and beyond and going to birthday parties and bringing gifts
back for them while you're on vacation.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Stephanie gave us a very big list of great things
that should do in Christina.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Oka, Hi, I am, I'm not ready for it.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Not only are we making you our person of the week,
but we also are going to award you brunch for
two out on the Bay from our friends at City Cruises.
So what that means is one Sunday morning, you want
a guest, get to go out on a beautiful City
Cruises boat cruise all around the Bay. You're going to
go over to Salsolito and check out the view under
the Golden Gate Bridge. You're going to come back under
the Bay Bridge, go to Oracle Park and just enjoy

(12:56):
your time. Out there and have a delicious breakfast.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Oh wow, well, thank you. I've never done that actually
out of my forty two years living in the city,
So thank you. I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Well, maybe we just cross something off of her bucket
list to Court. Yeah, with the help of Stephanie for sure.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Yes, thanks, Seth, were welcome.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
We just want to say thank you for all you
do a teacher, obviously, that is a tremendous job that
has a lifelong impact on kids, and you're one of
the great ones.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
So we're happy to highlight into you.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Thanks so much, and thank you to Steth love you,
thank you, I love you.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
And if you've listened to Stephanie and to Christina and
you feel like I know somebody who would make a
great Person of the Week.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
I would almost guarantee you that you have somebody in
your life making an impact. We want to hear about them.
Nominate them for the Morning Breeze Person of the Week
on our website ninety eight one The Breeze dot Com.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
It's twenty seven. Good morning, It's the Morning Breeze with
Carolyn and Court. It is time for ask us anything.
We do it every weekday morning at this time you
ever wondered what happens behind the scenes here on the Breeze.
You have a question about anything, We're kind of opening
the mic to you for you to ask us questions.
We're at eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one.

(14:12):
You can always send us a talk back with our
iHeartRadio app an email slide into our DMS as the
kids say.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Sure, the kids say that. I've actually never heard my
kids ever say that.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
But yeah, we got an email. Actually this this came
from James in Oakland, who wrote to us says, Hi,
Carolyn in Court, I enjoy listening to the show on
my drive every morning. I'm hoping you can settle a
debate we're having in the office. Okay, I hope you're
sitting down for this.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Okay. Is a hot dog a sandwich? Oh?

Speaker 2 (14:45):
The age old debate, James, is a hot dog at sandwiches?

Speaker 1 (14:50):
A hot dog?

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Absolutely not. Oh, you are saying a hot dog is
not a sandwich.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Do you think it's a sandwich?

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Well, let's think about this. The dictionary says this, a
sandwich is two or more slices of bread or a
split roll with a filling in between. Thus, a hot
dog is a sandwich. Disagree the National hot Dog and
Sausage Council, However, Carolyn is on your side. They say

(15:21):
the hot dog is its own distinct food item.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Did you do research on this? I sure it is.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
What's Once James reached out about this, I wanted to
educate myself because I have I have my personal feelings
on this.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
In all fair yeah, in all fairness, I didn't know
this question until you asked it on the air answer,
so I haven't had time to do my quote unquote research. Also,
it appears you've got some extra time on your hands
that you were able to look this up.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
I truly a hot dog is a sandwich, just like
a hamburger is a sandwich.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
It's a sandwich. No, it's not.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
It's a It's a bun, a hamburger or hot dog
in the middle, it's not a sandwich.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
A sandwich has turkey.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Let's put it in simpler terms. It's a bun with
some sort of meat in between it. That's a sandwich.
That's also a hot dog. That's also a hamburger.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
I've never heard somebody say I'm gonna have a hamburger,
sandwich or a hot dog sandwich.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
I think the very first hamburger, which was invented or
created supposedly by who the Hamberg the East Coast. They
called it the Hamburger sandwich. That was the original name
of the hamburger.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
You've had way too much time to do, right.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
I can't believe we're on opposing sides of this. You
say a hot dog is not a sandwich. I think
it is. Okay, Well, I guess sorry, James. First of all,
the debate continues. If you feel one way or another,
send us a talk back with our iHeartRadio Apple call
us eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight
one coming up in just a few short minutes. In fact,

(16:45):
about ten minutes from right now. Seven forty your next
chance to win tickets to see Heart at the Chase Center.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
We can both agree that this is gonna be an
awesome show. Hart puts on a great show.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
No disagreement here.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
They're gonna be there August tenth, So be here. Yeah,
seven forty your chance to win those tickets on the Breeze. Well,
good morning the Breeze, Happy Friday to you. Who are
we talking to.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
My name is Sue.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
I am in San Jose at this point.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
So there are five days in a work week. How
many mornings do you listen to the morning breeze?

Speaker 5 (17:20):
I listen every day.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Oh, correct answer, good answer.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Oh yeah. By the way, Sue, you're also going to
see Heart. Oh yes, tomorrow my birthday. You just made
my day.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
I know your birthday was the other day too, and
I was really excited.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Oh, we're so happy for you.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Congratulation seriously, and thank you for listening every morning.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Uh huh.

Speaker 5 (17:40):
So you guys make my day every day.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
And we pressed a lot.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
So you guys make my day every day.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
We're happy to do that. We're happy to be there
for you every morning. All right, So we've got two
tickets to see Heart.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
The show's happening August tenth at Chase Center courtesy of
Live Nation and tickets on sale now at Ticketmaster.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Nice show.

Speaker 5 (17:58):
I remember getting grounded because I was blasting out of
my brand new stereo some Heart really really loud. Only
is ever my mom ever grounded me?

Speaker 3 (18:12):
I think that's actually a really cool grounding zeal for sure.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
I respect that.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Never would have suspected this would become such a big
debate here on the Morning Grins.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Celine Dion by the way, at eighth nine.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Here on ninety eight point one The Breeze, The Morning
Breeze with Carolyn and Court so earlier in the show
every weekday morning at seven twenty five, we do a
little thing called ask Us Anything, and James in Oakland
sent us an email where he wanted to know our
opinion on hot dogs.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah, is a hot dog as sandwich? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (18:42):
That's the debate or not. And you and I are
on opposite ends of the spectrum here. Not a sandwich,
it's a hot dog. It's a sandwich because you're because
you're putting it between two slices of bread. Granted it's
a split roll, but according to the dictionary, that still
counts as a sandwich.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
I don't I first of all, love that you went
to the dictionary in your spare time to look this up,
but also like, I just don't see it that way.
To me, A hot dog is a hot dog and
a sandwich is a sandwich. But our phone lines have
lit up over this eight seven, seven, nine, one, nine
eight one. Good morning Al in PACIFICA.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
I think your buddy there is full of bloney.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Full of blooney sandwich, which is, by.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
The way, also sandwich, not a hot dog sandwich.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Thank you problem, thanks for calling. We appreciate it, all right,
take care are you two? Bye? Good morning, Cedric and
san Mateo.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
No, I understand what Carolyn is saying that the physical
hot dog in itself if not a sandwich. However, when
you place it between the two buns, like you said, Court,
it is a sanwich.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
She comes to sandwich. I think we have a bad connection.
We better let you go.

Speaker 5 (19:58):
It looks like they called the big back of fanwich.
It's a big mac sandwich. You know that's a sandwich. Sure, absolutely,
I agree with both of you. You know, again, the
physical itself, without the brain, it's not a sandwich. Sure,
between the between the bonds, it becomes a sandwich.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
I'm still not convinced. I'm listening, but my mind has
not been changed yet.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
Let me know.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
All right, Cedric, thanks for calling, and now we have
a talkback off of our iHeart Radio app.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Hot dog is absolutely not a sandwich, because for to
be a sandwich, the bread must be separated. No, that's
that's what That's what the I believe. That's Michael giving
us that talkback. Okay, that's what he is saying. However,
according to the Dictionary, Michael, two slices of bread or
a split roll. So a split roll like a split

(20:51):
like For example, you walk into a subway. Subway right,
they take their roles, they split it. They don't cut
it entirely in half with the role, they flay it
out the that's a sandwich.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Okay, while we're talking hot dogs and split rolls, is

and then the guts of the hot dog, the mustard,
the ketchup, the onions, whatever you have on it goes.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
Now the other side got a mess on your hands.

Speaker 2 (21:18):

on is a hot dog a hot dog or a sandwich?

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (21:25):
I think you put anything between two other things. It's
haven't you ever sat down in between two friends and said, hey,
let's have a it's a Carolin sandwich and you sit
down in between them.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
No, I've never heard done that. Have you done that?
I've done a cord sandwich all the time. Is that, Hey,
let me sit in Let me sit between you two.
