It is six eighteen, Good morning, It's the Morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Cord and of course it's time for
the Morning Breeze brain tease. We do it every weekday
morning at this time. It is sponsored by our friends
at Mike Council Plumbing. You're in clean hands with Mike

Speaker 2 (00:27):
About eleven thousand Americans will reach this milestone today.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Milestone it could be.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
These are significant events that happen in your life.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Okay eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
That is how you reach us with your guesses and Carolyn,
I always put this question on our Instagram account. Yes,
so you can go and answer it there in case
you don't want to call us, but we'd love for
you to call us. However, sure I bring that up
because Carrie in San Jose has answered our question on Instagram.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Okay, eleven thousand Americans will reach this milestone today. I
just looked and saw the answer. Okay, what what is it?
Carrie is guessing by their first home, first home. Oh yeah,
it's a huge milestone. It's a huge milestone. And I
could see that number working. I could see why she

(01:20):
guessed that.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
I went online and I did a little bit of research,
and I found that they're in the number here is close.
Thirteen thousand homes are sold in the US daily, but
they don't break it down into who's the first home buyer.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
I know, but Carrie, that is such a close guest,
so close, but not the correct answer. All right, all
right again eight seven seven nine one oh nine, eight one.
You've got a guess. Hi, good morning. They're going to retire.
They're going to retire. Such a good guess. And you
know what, I know the answer on this one, and
he is darn close. Well we almost got you.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Well, it's just at what age do people typically retire?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Sixty five?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Sixty five? So, and that's the answer right there.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yes, eleven thousand Americans will turn sixty five maybe retire,
because I feel like fewer people are retiring at sixty
five these days.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
That's for darn just sad. There you go, it's so close.
I'm gonna I'm gonna give it to them. I feel
like we should too. Oh, we're gonna give it to you.
I mean, we have no prize, but you have bragging
rights today. Okay, oh thank you. I I love that
you wint even if it's anything, but just be right.
That's cool. Ah, well, there you go. Thanks for listening.

(02:30):
By the way, what's your first name? Tom from Rodeo?
Oh Tom, thank you very much for listening to our show.
Oh yeah, well you have a blessed day. Thank you
to thank you Tom. You guys are also thanks you
doo Tom.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
So once again. Every day, eleven thousand Americans turned sixty five.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, that is that is a big number.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
That number is going to slowly go down because there's you,
there's less younger people right now in the United States.
Oh that's true. So right now it's eleven thousand. Couple years,
it'll be ten thousand.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Oh my gosh, Court, you're making so on and so forth.
Thanks so much, so early in the morning. Well that's
what the brain teas is all about. That's how it works.
Okay again, we're at eight seven seven nine eight one
oh nine eight one. Reach us anytime via phone. You
can send us a message on social media like Harry
did for the brain teas, or you could send us
a message with our iHeartRadio app that talk back Mike.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
And a reminder coming up later in the show eight fifty.
We're a few hours away right now, but yeah, plan
ahead because at eight fifty we're gonna give you ninety
eight minutes of NonStop, commercial free, relaxing favorites.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah. No matter what you're doing today, are you going
into the office, are you working from home? Do you
have the day off and you're just chilling at home.
I know we have so many people that listen at
home in the morning. They just relax, listen to the Breeze.
We will be commercial free as we always are at
eight point fifty right here, Birthrees.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
You know what's great about the variety here on ninety
eight point one. The Breeze is me is here in
the studio. You will at one time see Carolyn and
I do it like guitar solos on air guitar and
like air drumming. And just now we were doing some
air fiddle I know from Loggins and Mesina. It's just
a great song. It is also core.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
It the song you will hear only on ninety eight
point one of the bes rides. Another special thing. Six
point forty one is the time, and that means it's
time for the more you know.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Oh yeah, you never know what you don't know, and
that's why we bring you the more you know?

Speaker 1 (04:29):
You know it? Ah, Okay, So it has been crazy
cool in the Bay Area. You notice that. I was
just thinking the other day that here we are at
the end of July, and I'm not asking for the hot, hot,
hot days. But where have they been. We've had a few,
but for the most part, it's been cool. I did

(04:49):
some digging and I found that we are having one
of the coolest summers in decades. San Francisco International Airport
had a maximum temperature of sixty seven degrees between June
first and June fifteenth. That is the coldest start to
summer since nineteen sixty five.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
I think that's like at least five degrees below kind
of the typical average.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Yes, we're there, San Francisco. The city has had one
day reach seventy degrees since late May, very untypical. They
are saying this is all due to this deep marine layer,
cooler ocean temperatures, a lack of persistent high pressure keeping
us cool inland and that's just how it's going.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
So it's not just San Francisco, which you can expect
to be kind of chilly in the summertime.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
It's the whole bay. Are in East Bay, it's the
South Bay, yep, North Bay. Yeah, that's there to get
their peninsula. We'll keep going anyway. So I was looking
at my phone and I thought, well, we're going to
do this story, and then I'm going to look at
the forecast and I'm going to see we're about to
jump to the one hundred degree temperatures inland right No,
in the East Bay, North Bay, South Bay, we're staying

(06:01):
in the seventies as far as the eye can see
for a while, which means sixties, you know here in
the Bay, which is crazy to me. So it's not
changing anytime soon. And we're going to be in August,
we're still going to be in the seventies. It is
pretty crazy.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
I recently had some in laws visit from out of town,
and you know, they think, oh, we're going to California.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
I don't need a jacket, I don't need a coat.
I've had my winshow wipers on coming to work the
past couple of days. I almost say coming to school,
I mean and all fairness, it kind of is kind
of the same thing. We're learning something right now, we are,
and that is the More you Know, So share it
with your friends today at the water cooler, say, Carolyn
and Court made me aware this morning that for the
first time in decades, we're having our coldest summer ever

(06:44):
here in the Bay Area. You can reach us at
eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one. We
do the More you Know every weekday morning, and we
hope you do learn something here at six forty on
the Breeze.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Something else we do on the regular happens Friday shortly
after seven o'clock when we announce a new Morning Breeze
Person of the Week, the celebration of good people in
the Bay Area.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, and we've gotten some great nominations this week so
far for our Person of the Week, but we need more.
We want to hear from you. We want to know
who that person is in your life that just does
good things for other people, or they've been doing something
wonderful for you. Tell us who they are, what they're doing.
Get those nominations into us at ninety eight one. The
Breeze dot Com it's Bonnie Tyler and it is seven

(07:24):
eight the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cord. We do
the Brighter Side every weekday morning at this time, and
it's today's no different Brighter Side sponsored by Shrieven Company,
Luxury time pieces, fine designers and Flawless Diamonds.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
It's exactly what it sounds like. It's a brighter side.
If it brings a smile to your face is what
I like to say. That qualifies as a brighter side.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, if it makes you happy, if it's something you're
excited about or looking forward to, bring it on. Eight
seven seven nine, eight one oh nine eight one. Pam
and Missouri.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
You were telling us that one of your favorite things
in life is being a grandma.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Love them, spoil them and send them home. Yeah, you know.
I got eight grandkids, two such a twins in that
and five greats. I just had a new great grandsons Friday.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Oh, congratula, great grandma. That's great.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Yes, I'm a great grandma.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Great grandma. You sound so young.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
I'm in my sixties. I've had five generation picture with
my daughter at her four, got two such a grandkids twins,
and then my son five generation picture twice.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
That's cool.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Wow, my family has been able to do those those
fifth generation pictures.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
They're pretty rare for you to be able to do that.
What's your favorite thing about being a grandma and a
great grandma, Pam.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
The favorite thing is just seeing them smile with their
open arms loving on me.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
You know.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
It's just one of my granddaughters when she's little, just crawling.
And I came to the door of my son house
and I said, knock dock, you know, and I pushed
the door up a little bit, and of course my
daughter in laws in they're cooking, and she said, hi, Nana.
About that time, that baby stop what she was doing.

(09:12):
Hurgoble hands on that monnoia poring kitchen. She can hear
them go, pat pat pat, And she was crawling as
fast as she could do the door. I couldn't even
get in the door and set my turn, my bag
and my personal stuff down fast enough to pick that
baby yip. She's she's just come crawling to me so fast.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Oh that is so cute.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
It was just tickled my heart. You know. It's just like, oh,
that's what life is.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah, you know you sound like a nana, Pam. Yeah,
I tickled my car. You're living up to your name
so cute.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
I try, I try.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Ah. Well, it's always lovely to talk to you. We
hope you have a good day and thanks for calling in.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
There's always great talking to you guys.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
And if you've got a brighter side, like Pam, we
would love to hear from you. You can call us
at eight seven seven nine one, nine eight one, or
send us that brighter side on our free iHeartRadio app
by using the talkback feature.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yes, and coming up next it is ask us anything.
We are looking for your questions. If there's something you've
been wanting to ask the Morning Breeze about anything, this
is your chance, anything at all. We're kind of an
open book. Yeah, so ask us anything. It is coming
up at seven twenty five. We'll do it next here
on the Breeze, Still.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Collins here on ninety eight point one The Breeze, The
Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. Seven twenty eight is
the time, and that means it's time for you to
ask us anything, where we quite literally turn the show
over to you with your questions. Could be about something
happening on the show, something you've heard, maybe you want
clarification on something. I could see that happening. It could
just be a random question just out of the blue.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yeah. Yeah. This morning's question came to us on email
from Jasmine in Redwood City. She sent us an email
which was so sweet, and she said she listens to
our show every morning and she loves it, which we
really appreciate. Josha, thank you. Just I'm just doing a
little shout out to Jasmine. No, I'm glad you did.
She said. Last night she went down a YouTube rabbit hole.

(11:08):
She said, I was watching old television commercials. I got
to thinking, I wonder what Carolyn and Court's most memorable
television commercial is.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, from our childhood, so many good ones. For me,
it's the big standout. And I, for some reason, I
was just fascinated by this cultural cultural phenomenon that became
the Wendy's Where's the Beef Lady? Oh, where's the beef?

Speaker 3 (11:34):
It certainly is a big one, gets a very big
fun big it's a very big, fluffy fun.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yes, I remember that one. It was three old ladies.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
I don't even know what the setup was, but they
were examining this hamburger which had a big old fluffy
bun and then they take off the top bun and
it's just a little teeny hamburger patty.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
With like a a pickel on. It was shaped like
a heart or something. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
And then the third older lady comes in and her
only line is where's the beef? Yeah, like she was
upset about not finding the beef.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Do you remember back in the day when that commercial
came out, how it just became a phrase that we
all said when we would just need a filler, we'd
be like, here's the beef, and everybody, ah, everyone bust
up laughing. Isn't that a trip? And it did wonders
for Wendy's. From what I understand, sales went through through
the roof there for a little while. What a powerhouse? Yeah?

(12:30):
What about for you? What was your what's your commercial?

Speaker 3 (12:31):
For me?

Speaker 1 (12:32):
The commercial that just when you, you know, out of
the blue, asked me, what commercial do you remember so
much from your childhood? It has to be life Cereal
with Mikey. Give it to Mikey the stuff.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Some cereal supposed to be good for you to try it.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
I'm not going to try it.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
You try it.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
I'm talking to try it.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Let's get Nikey. Yeah, he won't need it.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
He hates everything he liked it. Hey, Mikey, I mean
it's just and even not just the commercial and how
cute those kids are, but the clothes they're wearing.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
It just takes me back to a special place. That's
just like they sound like little tough guys.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Yeah, they're going to go ride their BMX bikes after
and like dig holes in the ground in the dirt
and ride skateboards. It just reminds me of just the
old days, which I love.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
So I don't maybe they don't make commercials like they
used to back in the seventies and they.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
At all no. So we put this question on our
Facebook page as well at ninety eight one The Breeze
asking you the television commercials that like that you remember
the most from when you were growing up.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Yeah, we're getting a lot of good responses. Ken says
he loved the c the USA and Chevrolet childhood.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
That one old.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Coca Cola commercials did they had to teach the world
to seeing commercials? I remember that absolutely. Yeah, Slinky is
on that list. Melts in your mouth, not in your
hands toys r us Yeah, they're jingle I've got an
honorable mention here. Yeah, and I know we don't have
a lot of time. You remember the PSA's, the anti
drug PSAs. Yeah, like this is your brain.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Yeah, this is your brain. Drugs with the egg in
the frying pan. Ye, that was an honorable mention. That's
a good one.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Then there was another one where the dad finds drugs
in his kids room and he's.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Like, where did you learn to do this? Why do
you keep bringing up drug commercials? Just they were so memorable. Okay,
all right, I think this is where we dip it.
And I've never done a drug I know you have
not never, I know. I believe that worked for me. Sorry, everybody,
all right, ask Us Anything. We do it every weekday
morning at this time at seven twenty five, call us
with your ask Us Anything eight seven, seven, nine, eight

(14:36):
one oh nine to eight one. It's the morning Breeze.
It's Carolyn and Court this morning on ask Us Anything.
At seven twenty five. We were talking about television commercials
that we remember from back in the day and which
one stands out the most. Yeah, mine was.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
The Wendy's Where's the Beef Woman?

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Yes, And mine was Mikey with Life Cereal, Michael and
San Francisco. Good morning, talk.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
About the one that had to come on at to
remind our parents.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Do you know where your children are? Oh? Yeah, oh,
I forgot about that one. Yeah, it's ten pm. Do
you know where your children are? That is such a
scary commercial. Do you know where your children are? So
there you go, fellow gen Xers raised on hose.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Water and leg.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
And live to tell about it. Yes, yes, thank you.
That's Miley Cyrus and the Climb. And by the way, Court,
I want to say hello to the wonderful people listening
to us right now. We've been told in San Mateo
at Closeline Laundromat, thank you for having the breeze on.
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Hopefully though the laundry is fresh and not all Close
Line fresh.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
I hope your sheets are drying. Is that appropriate? Yeah?
It was just very appropriate.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
And if you want a fluffy pillow, I learned this
just the other day when I went to a laundrymat,
you use the biggest dryer possible.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Makes sense. Put those pillows and your comforters in. You'll
just get nice and fluffing.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
A lot of tossin and fluffing that when you tuned
into the Morning Breeze This morning.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Worry you weren't all right? It's eight oh eight. It
is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Korz. We were
talking earlier in the show. In fact, it was an
ask us anything question from seven to twenty five. Yeah,
the question of what TV show do you remember the
most from your childhood? That was such a good question.
So for me it was Life Cereal with Mikey. He'll
eat it, get it to Mikey.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
I think they tried to bring back the Mikey character
like ten fifteen years ago. It's not the same impact
it did back there in.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
This can improve, improve on greatness and for you.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
For me, it was from nineteen eighty four Wendy's Where's
the Beef commercial with that old lady wondering where's the beef?

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Yes, So it's kind of a trip down memory lane
this morning eight seven, seven, nine, eight, one oh nine
eight one. Good morning Gale in San Jose.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Good morning. So I've got two for you, one for me.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Plot plot fizz fizz, Oh, what relief it is? Alka
Seltzer to the rescue? Whoa good job? Blap blop biz,
Oh what to we leave. It is blop blop biz biz.
Relieve it is, I like my husband.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Better, don't squeeze the Sharman.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Ah, squeeze the Sharman. Ladies, you can't squeeze the Charloman.
But this isn't Sharman, mister Whipple. This is new Charman
introducing new Sharman so much softer. You can see, feel
and hear the difference. New soft fragrance too. I forgot
about how classic the voiceovers were in the seventies and eighties.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Yeah, if you if you go find like, for example,
the Sharman commercial or the Mikey Mikey Likes It commercial. Yea,
even that it has this whole little skit or sketch
done by the little kids, and then at the tail end.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Of it is a is a voiceover you're coming off
or like good, yeah, I don't sorry, Gail'll hang on,
We'll be right with you. But yeah, it's it was
such a classic classic time in television. It's just the
whole thing. It just takes me back.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
I'm also curious to know is like all these advertisers
are sitting around in a brainstorming meeting and they're like,
how can we sell Sharman like a bunch of ladies
standing around the grocery store squeezing the Sharman. That's that's
our angle.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
I think that's how it went back in the day. Court.
But like we said, we have this question on our
Facebook page at ninety one The Breeze. What television commercial
from growing up? Do you remember the most? We've got
melts in your mouth, not in your hand? What is melts? Eminem's.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Oh, that's right, I think of as Hershey, they've moved
away from that because everybody knows if it's.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Warm enough, those eminems are going to melt. Yeah, I
mean that's the matter, and they should. They're delicious. Also,
Slinky made the list. We've got people mentioning yours wear's
the beach on those We've got the old Coca Cola commercial.
But I'd like to teach the world to saying it's
such a fun trip down memory.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Like a lot of good ones. If you've got something
on your mind, you can do a couple of things.
You can call us eight seven seven nine nine eight
one or joining the conversation on our Facebook page.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Yes, that is at ninety eight one The Breeze, And
we want to remind you that coming up later this hour.
We'll do this at eight fifty, and we do it
every weekday morning. We so commercial free. We want you
to get into the office, grab a bagel, a donut, coffee,
whatever the case may be, come back to your desk,
turn the breeze on because we go commercial free.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
That's right, ninety eight minutes of non stop, commercial free,
relaxing favorites coming away at eight fifty. Here on the
Morning Breeze.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
It's the Morning Breeze. It's Carolyn and Court. This morning,
we were talking about commercials that you missed from back
in the day.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
So many great ones like the Wendy's Where's the Beef Lady?

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (19:27):
And for me Mikey with life Cereal. Hi, Good morning
the Breeze, Sally and Martinez. How about I'm stuck on
band aid? Oh, band aid stuck on me? Thank you guys. Hi,
good morning the Breeze.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
It was mister Clean always a cartoon or where the
original ones was an actual physical man. I feel like
the original ones was a physical man, right.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
It was a physical man. Yeah, I missed the man.
All right, you guys have a super block day. Hi,
good morning the Breeze.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
The Balooney commercial.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Oh Baloney, Papeloni has a first name.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
It's O. S C A R E R. Steve. I
look too beated every day and if you ask me
what I'll say, finished it off.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Steve oscar Myer has away with the O L O
G n A.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
He did a lot better than job than I did.
