Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze, the Morning Breeze on demand. We do
it every weekday morning. At this time, I'm talking about
the Morning Breeze Brain Teas sponsored by Mike Council Plumbing.
You're in clean hands with Mike Council Plumbing and you
can see them online at mc plumbing dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
A recent study found that this still stresses people out
even after they've retired.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
After they've retired, okay, this will be interesting to see.
We are at eight seven seven nine eight one nine
eight one, Cedric and San Bruno. So you transport pilots
from the airport to their hotels and back. Thanks for
calling in this morning. How are you? I'm good. Listen,
I got a couple of pilots on board and they
were going to try to answer that question. I love

(00:44):
that you're entertaining the pilots that you're transporting with the
Morning Breeze Brain Teas.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Are we at liberty of knowing who they fly for?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Can you guys, thank you who you fly for?

Speaker 2 (00:55):
A major airline? All right, So what do you think
the answer is? Money? Money?

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Money? Oh yeah, yeah, I agree.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I think they agree on money, but I think money's
pretty universal. Money is like you know, you're everybody stresses
about money, and.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
I do feel like even if you have a financial planner,
when it comes time to retirement, you're still gonna worry.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Oh yeah, yeah, I'm gonna think sep oh.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Sleep yeah, retirement or money and.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Sleep, money and sleep. Okay, guys, both good guesses. Neither
of them correct? Okay, correct answer. Study found that Mondays
still stress people out even when they're retired.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Mondays, Oh yeah, that's classic.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
That's true, though.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
I wonder why because I always hear retired people say
every day feels like a Friday.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Right, and they're like, what day is it?

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Exactly? They never know what day it is, So how
could a Monday stress them out? That's true?

Speaker 2 (01:52):
O' get stressed, Carolyn.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
I know, Well, we have a lot of retired people
that listen to the show. Will you please call us
and tell us why you stress out on money? I'm
genuinely curious, and so are the pilots and Cedric.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Yeah, we want to know.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
All right, you guys, Well, it was great talking to you.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Safe travels, bye bye bye.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
I am genuinely curious because so many retired people I've
talked to have said feels like a Saturday every day
feels like a Friday every day. So I'm really really
curious to know what it is that would stress you
out about a Monday, unless that is something that is
forever ingrained in your head that Mondays are stressful. Yeah,
just because you spend so many years working.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
They you start thinking about. My wife calls it the
Sunday scaries. Yes, so Sunday afternoon, she's already thinking about
what her work week is looking like and it kind
of ruins the day.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah, do you retired people have the Sunday scaries? That's
a great question.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Just built in earthays.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Every weekday morning at six forty, we bring you the
More you Know. And this one is interesting. Court's got
this one today.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, we're talking about embarrassment, that self conscious emotion that
typically comes from awkward moments. Sure, I live my life,
I think in a constant state of embarrassment. I feel
like you do or potentially embarrassing situations. Well, according to
scientists or researchers, at least embarrassment is good for you.
You should actually not try to avoid it altogether. They

(03:24):
say it helps signal remorse and acknowledges mistakes to those around.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
You so allow yourself to be in an embarrassing situation.
Like if I see this situation, whatever it is, coming
my way, yeah, let it happen.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Just to some degree, you shouldn't be mortified by something
happening happening, like some people just beat themselves up.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Oh they're just saying, if you have an embarrassing moment,
feel all the field, embrace it. Yeah, just go, well
that was embarrassing, and then maybe that helps you move
on by accepting it.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Well yeah, the researchers say, not only does it help you,
but it helps those around you because it invites empathy.
People tend to trust people that they see having embarrassing
moments happened to them. So like blushing, yeah is a
good thing because people are like, oh, that person's human.
Or if you stumble on words, yeah it's okay, Well

(04:17):
that's good to know both. None of that on this show.
As professional talkers are like.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yes, yeah, I just got a big pass.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I'll stumble on some words and people will be like
that court, he's a human.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
He's doing what he talked about. The more you know
barely July twenty five, So there you go. I like that.
It's just accepting things that happen and not letting it
kind of get under your skin, just say you know,
this happens.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
I think people can appreciate it more because it's authentic
when you and you're just yourself and embarrassing things are
bound to happen.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
And here's the good news. You're gonna see plenty and
hear plenty of examples of that on this show today, tomorrow,
and all the days ahead.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
So Carol that Carolyn is soon retired. This morning, I'm
so tired. This is a little so are you well,
just scammer, so am We both had some interesting events
over the weekend, but we're good and we're happy to
be here. This is the best part. Lets we could
come and do this.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
But we do the more, you know, every weekday morning
at six forty and it's really fun and we love
when you join us. You can call us anytime at

from the weekend. Sure, it's just fun to come into
that this morning, so send us a talkback with our
iHeartRadio app anytime any place.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
And also set maybe an alarm on your phone or However,
you need to do it because coming up this morning
at seven forty, so about an hour from right now,
your chance, your first chance this week of many to
win tickets to California's Great America.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Northern California's premier amusement park. NonStop excitement awaits around every turn,
open daily through August eighth, and select days after that.
So we want to send you to take your family,
your friends, have a great time with four tickets. Be
here seven forty your chance to win on the Breeze
seven twenty four. Good morning, It is the Morning Breeze

(06:04):
with Carolyn and Court. Welcome to your Monday. It's time
to ask us anything. We do this every weekday morning
at seven twenty five. You kind of steer the conversation.
Maybe there's something you've always wanted to ask us. Think
of this as your open mic. Oh yeah, you just
call us and you ask us whatever is on your
mind and we will answer It. Could be advice, could
be a question about the show. Yeah, you steer the conversation.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah, you can call us eight seven seven nine eight
one oh nine eight one, or you can do what
Hannah in Mound View did, which is send us an
email oh, I love that which I have printed out.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
I love that you printed it for it.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Great, Hannah says Hi, Carolyn in court, I'm hoping you
can help settle a debate. We're having it at my
office because we're all pretty divided on this.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Do you pronounce GIF like jiff like Jeff PEANUTI oh,
gif gif okay? Or gift like gift? This is an
ongoing for me, age old great, don't know what the
correct pronounce.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
I used to call it a gift. Then someone said
it's a jiff, so I switched it, and then not
too long ago, somebody said it's actually a gift. And
I think that might have been you, if I think,
I don't know who else would have said, Carolyn, you're wrong.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
So GIF. So if you don't know, GIFF is an acronym,
it stands for Graphic Interchange Format. Okay, So you would
think because it's graphic that it would be GIFF, right, right. However,
the guy who invented the gift or the jiff pronounced
it jiff. He said it's jiff.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Okay, that's where that came from. Then it's a jiff.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I think I think it's a gift, I prefer gift
that makes me, it makes me more feel more comfortable.
I know I preferred if you would call it a
gift as well. You know what, you know what I
call it? I go a gift, gift.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
For a jiff. I call it both just to cover myself.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah, it's it's tough because again, you want to call
it a gift because of graphic interchange format. But people
always use the scuba argument on that because scuba is
also an acronym. Did you know that self contained underwater
breathing apparatus.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
It did not.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
It's where scuba came from years old. But you've pronounced
it scuba. You don't pronounce it scubba because of underwater.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
You are getting really I'm getting really deep on a Monday.
Is a gift for jiff?

Speaker 2 (08:20):
It's gift? No correct answer is gift.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
See. Now here's where I have to go the other way,
because if the guy who invented it calls it a jiff,
who are we to be like, No, you're wrong, it's
a gift.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
He's wrong. He's wrong, even though he's so.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Hannah, there's your answer. We're calling it a gift. But
the proper way is Jeff, good luck. Yeah, sorry, Hannah,
did we make it worse?

Speaker 2 (08:42):
May or may not have settled that office argument?

Speaker 1 (08:44):
All right, ask us anything that's exactly how it works.
Bring us your questions eight seven seven nine eight one
oh nine eight one. You can send us a talkback
as well with our iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
And coming up in just a few minutes. Seven forty
your chance to win tickets to California's Great America. That's
just one ticket, not just two. Got a four pack
of tickets.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I know. Be thinking about who you're gonna take with you. You're
going to ride the rides, eat all the good FOODI
a low te corn there.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
That's so good.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Oh my goodness, it's so good. Yeah, be here at
seven forty for your chance to win those tickets on
the Breeze. It's the morning Breeze. It is Carolyn and Court. Congratulations.
You are Color ten. You are going to California's Great America.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Oh great, Now I tell my kids about it. I'm
gonna try.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Oh good, well, your kids are going to be very
excited when they find out that you won. What's your name?

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Oh this is Michael. Dad has delivered, which is great.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Michael, where are you listening to us, all right, Michael,
You've got yourself four tickets to California's Great America.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Summer almost over, but the fund's not done at California's
Great America, Northern California's premier amusement park, where NonStop excitement
waits around every turn, open daily through August eighth, and
then select days after that. So nice job, Michael, Thank
you guy. We'll have another chance to win coming up tomorrow,
same time, seven forty here on the Morning Breeze. That

(10:02):
Court Celain deon here on ninety eight point one the Breeze.
You've got the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. It's
eight to oh nine.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
I was saying a minute ago, Court, that I found
out over the weekend. Look, my family, we've lived in
the Bay Area for decades, and I found out over
the weekend that there is a city in the Bay Area.
I have been mispronouncing the name of the city the
entire time that we've lived here, and that city is
apt Toss ap Toss.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
That's down by Sena Cruize, right.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
I think. So, I wasn't prepared for that question. I
barely know how to say the name. I'm not going
to know it. Well, Yes, it is down in that direction.
It's next to Capitol Library. Yes, I think it's down there. Yes,
I've been saying aptos ever since we lived here.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
It looks like a Greek It looks great to me.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Yes, it's septos. It's so funny. So I had to
read over the weekend at the Giants. On my script
was app toss yeah, And they put a phonetic pronunciation
and he said to my producer, this is wrong. You
don't know your cities. And he's like, no, it's app tos.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
So I consulted the internet. The coastal app toss is
a truly beautiful area. Hey, guys, have you Monday.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
I'm getting a new listing ready for the market over
an app toss.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Hey, what's happening, guys.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
I'm Benstrock.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
I'm a local real estate broker. I'm here to show
you one of my favorite coastal towns in California. App
toss As.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Are probably gonna get cut off by the locals.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
And I did. And his name is Billy and he's
my producer. So now I know. I stam corrected. It
is app toss. This is super helpful.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
For for apparently people who have lived in the Bay
Area for decades, for somebody like me who's only been
here for a couple of years, because you have corrected
me a bunch of times on different pronunciations of Bay Area.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
There are some cities that if you're new.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah, like why is why is San Rafel san Rafel'
there's an a in there that should be Raphael. Right.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Oh, some people do say Rafael. That's when we know
you're not a local, right conquered. Some people say concord
which is the way it's spelled beniche. A lot of
people will get benicio.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
I think I've did that a few times, even just
subto like Glafayette Lafaye. I want to say, like you're
the Louisiana pronunciation on that.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
I have a friend who lives in Corda Madera and
she calls it Corda Madeira and she lives there, and
I said, I think it's Corda Madera, which I know
how much people appreciate you schooling them on their own
cities when you don't live there, right, And she said,
back in the day, that's how it was pronounced. Yeah,
and her parents pronounce it that way. So now I
say Corda Medeira, Corda Madeira, Corda Madeira. Yeah, So there

(12:50):
are so many cities in the Bay Area. It's just
it's so funny. You could live here forever and still
get them wrong.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Well I do, and see about We're all learning every
single day, and I've learned something, and I think hopefully
everybody else has learned something as well, such a good play,
or everybody else is listening and being there, Like Carolyn,
everybody else knows this but you.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
That's probably the guest. But if there are any other
cities that you have heard mispronounced in the Bay Area
or people trip over the pronunciation, we'd love to hear
from you eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one,
or send us a message with our iHeartRadio app. Use
that talkback Mike.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
And a reminder coming up later this hour eight point fifty,
as you begin your workday and your work week, we're
going to give you ninety eight minutes of NonStop, commercial,
free relaxing favorites.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yes, we are looking forward to this great way to
start off your day. So be here, like Court said it,
eight fifty and we'll get that started for you. Here
on the breeze,
