Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze, Morning Breeze on demand.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's Toby Gray and dripped Away. It is six nineteen.
Good morning, It is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and
Court and we're going to get right into it. The
Morning Breeze brain teas sponsored by My Council Plumbing. You're
in clean hands with My Council Plumbing. See them online
at mc plumbing dot com.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Today's clue. Twenty one percent of people say they've done
this in the past year, while twenty six percent say
they haven't done it in a decade.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
All right, let's get to it. Eight seven seven, nine
eight one. Leonard listening on our iHeartRadio app in Connecticut,
Good morning, you have a gas what is it?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
How about change the car insurance? Change their car insurance.
That's a great gash. When was the last time you
changed your car insurance? Yeah? I have a good boy
to stay farm and I got a much better rate
stopping off a car insurance. Yeah, that would be a
good guess. I guess, really great guess. I changed my
car insurance about a year ago and I did save

(01:04):
a significant amount of money. I am happy to hear
this for you. Well, we're saying Carolyn, is that you
should change your car insurance? Right?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
No, I'm shopping around. What you guys are throwing down.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
It's a great answer, it's not the correct one, though.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Thank you nice. Talk to you again. All right. Pooja
in Fremont, Good morning. What is your guest for the
brain tease?

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Bungee jumping? I know bungee jumping.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Have you bungee jump? Pooja? No, No, I'm scared me too.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
No. The one day that I was given an opportunity
to bungee jump, yeah, I was ready to do it,
and I was. I was heavier at the time. I
was too heavy. I was exceeded the weight limits you did. Yes, Wow,
I don't picture that for you. If you're too heavy
to bungee jump, that's crazy. I was a hefty fella
at the time. Let's just say that.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Okay, but that's not right. That's not the threat. Soon, Okay,
what's the answer?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Twenty one percent of people say they have written a
letter in the past year, while twenty six saying I
haven't written a letter in over a decade. A handwritten letter.
Oh yeah, that.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Sounds so true.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
I sometimes feel I'm just forgetting how to write at all.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Oh no, I tried to write cursive the other day
and I realized it that is slipping away. I don't
know how to write cursive either anymore.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
My handwriting has definitely gotten worse as I've read, because
I just I don't do it very often, don't do
it enough.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, Puja, you're helping us remind everybody start writing again
and written letters.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Well, we appreciate you listening. Thank you so much for
calling and playing along with us. Yeah, thank you both
for all you do.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
I really enjoy your show in the morning when I'm driving.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Oh, thank you so much. Pooj all right, make it
a good day. You know what else happened to me
yesterday when I was writing a letter court, is that
my hand was cramping up.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, man, we used to write. I used to write
pages in college to my friends and we mail each
other notes or letters pages. And now I write one
greeting card or one letter in my hand. I'm like, ow,
I've to stop halfway through.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
It is like, what are you doing today?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah? What a workout?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I tried to write my daughter Quinn when she was
off to college her first year in the dorm. Some
letters because she'd liked to go. She go check the
mail every single day, Yes, and oftentimes not find anything.
M So that's all.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
That's why we were writing letters in college, so we'd
have something to look forward at the mailbox.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Pretty great.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
That's so sweet that you did that for Quinn. Yeah,
all right. We're at eight seven, seven, nine, one, nine
eight one morning Breeze Brain teas we play every weekday
morning here at six twenty, and a.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Reminder coming up this morning at seven point forty. Another
chance for you to score tickets to California's Great America.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Oh, this is so fun giving these tickets away. And
the weather is so nice in the Bay Area right now.
You're going to go enjoy with your friends. And might
I say, we talked about this yesterday, but it bears
repeating the elote corn. Oh it's so good at California's
Great America. I don't know how they do it. I
don't know what the magic is, but you've got to
get the elote corn.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Why that would it be wrong to go to California's
Great America and just go for the corn and not
go in any right, go for the corn? No I.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Do that. No, it's just a funny. I mean, the
rides are great. No, the rides are great.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Go but go for the corn. Stay for the rides.
And writing this down, you're gonna suggest it to California's
Great America.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
They're they're gonna love that. All right, we're back in
a second. The breeze brees you two at six forty two.
Here on ninety eight point one.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
The breeze. You've got the morning breeze with Carolyn and
Court and it is time for the more. You know.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
I just love the sound of it.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah, chansfer you and you and I and us and
all of us together to learn something. Hopefully you and
I and us and all of us. I'm gonna work
away and you work in my grammar on another day.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
All right. So I was saying a minute ago, there's
something that we all do every day, but if we
do too much of this one thing, it could physically
be changing the way one of our body parts left.
And I asked Cort off the air, I said, do
you know what this one thing is?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah, I've been thinking about this because obviously if you
work out, if you do you know repetition type, you know,
activities in the gym, that can change your body. But
that's intentional. So this is accidental.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
That's yeah, that's adorable that you went down the positive route. Okay,
so no, it's the opposite of.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
That, is it? I think I might know what this is,
not that I'm thinking about it but staring at my phone.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
No, it's not that I thought you were about to
say it. Okay, if you feel like you sit a lot,
and you also feel like maybe you're how do we
put this, your heine, your honey is getting flatter, your
tush more flat flatter? We both need to work on
our grammar. There could be a correlation between the two.

(05:48):
They say that sitting a lot could absolutely lead to
a flat heine. Interesting if you sit for long periods
of time, if you slouch in your seat while you're
staring at a computer screen, that is flattening out your
posterior end. And I started thinking about my schedule, especially
on days when I have baseball at night. I sit

(06:11):
here for the show for a good five hours. Then
I drive home.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
A lot of sitting. Obviously you're sitting there.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
And then I drive back, and then I sit at
a baseball game for six hours, and then I drive
home and then I go to bed and I was
looking in the mirror the other day and I said,
what have I done? Are you looking at You can't see?

Speaker 1 (06:36):
I can't, I can't. But I just realized that you
said you noticed that you noticed it on me.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
I don't make it weird, but you stand during the show.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
I do. I actually I do stand up for while
we're talking.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
So I'm I'm you're just yeah, you're just looking a little.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
A little better.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah, failure, But isn't that interesting. It's something that like,
and I have to say, ever since I heard this news,
I'm gonna call it news breaking the person, Well, I
don't know about that. I am obsessed with looking in
the mirror. I walk by the mirror and I look
at my profile and I go, it's true. And so
then that's when I decided I needed to bring it

(07:15):
to the air, to the more, you know, because I
wanted to share it because I guarantee someone else today
is going to walk by the mirror and be like,
you know what, I have been sitting for a long
period of time recently.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
I don't think it's a surprise to anybody that we
should be doing more standing than we do. As a society.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
I might start doing squats during the show.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Stand up little bit.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
There you go, do some squats, yeah, maybe two? Okay, okay,
that's the start, all right. The more you know, we
do it every weekday morning here at six.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Forty on the Breeze and coming up this morning seven
forty a reminder another chance to win tickets to California's
Great America, Northern California's premier amusement park.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
You got that right, Court, NonStop excitement awaiting you around
every turn. They're open daily through August eighth, and then
of course select days after that. So'll be here at
seven forty for your chance to win those Californias Riat
America tickets. Here on the Breeze.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court and Whitney
Houston at seven nine. And because it is seven oh
nine on a Tuesday morning, and pretty much every other
weekday we do this the brighter side, it's your chance
to call us and tell us about things that are
making you happy right now, or another way to think
about it, Carolyn, it's kind of an opportunity for you
to call in and brag a little bit about the
good things in your life.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
This is when it's okay to brag exactly right, Actually
want you to brag or sure.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.
That's how you can reach it. You can also send
us a talkback on our free iHeartRadio app. Brightside is
sponsored by Shreven Company, Luxury time Pieces, Find Designers, and
Flawless Diamonds.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
So I was saying a minute ago, one of our
favorite artists here on the Breeze got into a little
trouble with the law the other day. Yeah, I think
you might know him as Johnny Law. Someone say, anyway,
it worked out being okay, which is why it's a
Brighter Side. I'm talking about nineteen eighties pop rock icon
John Waite on Waits. So it's such a jam. I

(09:09):
love that song. So John Waite and his band they're
in Kansas, they're going to a show. They're speeding. They
get pulled over. You know John Waite and his band,
how they speed? They get pulled over in Kansas. Well,
this sergeant comes up, his name is Justin Rugg and
he says, are you John Waite? And John Waite says, yes,

(09:30):
We're actually going to perform a show with like some
theater in Kansas. Yeah, and he's like, I'm a big fan.
So you know, John wait Now is like, all right,
we out this place, and that's exactly what happened. The
cop was like, I'm a huge fan of yours. Can
we take a picture? You got to know if you're
John Waite, the moment the words can we take a

(09:52):
photo come out, you're getting out of the ticket.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Right.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
So not only did they take a picture with the officer,
but then I showed Court before we came on, and
I'm going to post this picture on our Facebook page
so you can see it. The ridiculousness that ensued the
photo that I'm going to have pulled up for you again,
Court in the studio of John Waite and his band
posing with their hands on the front of this guy's
cop car.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Put your hands on the front of the car.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Yeah, as if to say we got in trouble.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
You know.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Now it's become like this joke. But anyway, they got
out of it. They said the officer was a great guy,
smart move, and they went on to do the show.
The officer posted on social media. John Waite posted on
social media and it became a brighter side.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
I would assume like obviously pulled over for speeding. It
couldn't have been like horribly over the speed, like reckless endangerment.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
They got to be in like a truck with equipment
or something. I can't imagine. They're like, well crazy, it's
John Waite, Like is that happening anyway? So his band
continued on their way, and deputies wished them a rock
and time and some story ended. I knew that was
going to make you laugh. Anyway, that is your brighter

(11:02):
side for today. You can reach us with yours eight
seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Does this mean if I get pulled over? I could
be like, hey, I'm John Waite.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
No, you could say I'm Court Johnson of a court
Johnson dot com, Johnson dot.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
All right, I don't think that'll get me out of it.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Dach. Coming up at seven forty this morning, we're gonna
have another chance for you to win those tickets to
California's Great America.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Yeah, all week long we've been given away. Well we
did it yesterday and then all week long we will
be giving away these four pack of tickets so you
can take your friends, you can take your family, four
of you heading to California's Great America. So join us
seven forty your next chance to win. Here on the
Morning Breeze.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Seven twenty seven, it's life House, you and me and
it's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. It's time
for ask us anything. We do it every weekday morning
at this time. You call us, ask us anything about
what's happening in the world. You want our opinion on something.
You've got a question where the other day we had
somebody where in office was divided and they just needed
our opinion.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Help settle a debate.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
I don't know if we did help settle it.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
I don't think we helped at all.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
I think we made it worse. Actually, this morning it's
dead in conquered. Hi, good morning, ask us anything. I
would like to know.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
How you guys got started in radio and why did
you choose radio than anything else? Good question, great question.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
I started in radio because I failed out of my
math classes in college and I needed a major without math,
and so I chose radio, and decades later, here we are. Wow,
it's that easy. So you were bad at math yep,
and still am you'd be happy to know. Oh, I
still am I'm terrible at math.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Don't even give me any well.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
I can't help you on that one. Dem, I am
terrible too. There may be a future in radio for you, dem.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Yeah. No, I got started. My high school actually had
a radio station, so I did a radio little radio
show after school on Mondays for a little while and
caught the bug and then found my way doing an
internship at a morning show and fed the morning show
guys jokes.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Well, the good news is Court is still doing a
little radio show, so it worked out.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
I know, I think so too.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Look at me now, Mom, so grown up.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
That's neat. I love you guys, and you take care.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Okay, Okay, you too, Dad, Thank you too. That's a
great one. Yeah, that's a great one.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
It's interesting to think back because we did very shortened
versions of how we ended up doing what we do.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
We've had this question before, but I feel like if
somebody is asking it again, that means like not everybody
heard it.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
They must have missed that day.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
But we're always happy to answer questions that are personal
or know about the show. You can certainly bring those
to us. So that's why we call it ask us anything. Yeah,
like we said anything at all. We're at eight seven
seven nine, eight one, nine eight one. You can always
send us a message with our iHeart Radio app. Use
that talk back mic on our app. That's a great
way to send a question too.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
That's right, And Carolyn, I'm looking at the clock. It
is seven thirty, and that means ten minutes from right now,
your chance to win four tickets to California's Great America.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
You're going to have such a good time at the
park with four tickets. I mean, be thinking about who's
going to be on that guest list. So there's you,
and then I mean I did fail mouth, but give
me a second, Harry means you have you have three
other people that you could take with you. I'm back,
all right, So be here at seven forty your chance
to win those tickets on the breeze.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
I can worry the breeze. Who is this, Joe, Joe?
What's going on this morning? Not too much?

Speaker 2 (14:27):
How you doing?

Speaker 1 (14:27):
We're doing all right? So you're calling in to win
tickets to California's Great America. Who would be going with you? Oh,
probably my two daughters and my wife.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
That we haven't really done a whole lot this summer,
so that might be a good way to do something
before it's over. Quote, can you please tell him he
won this? Poor guy.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Hey, Joe, Joe, you've won. That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Thank you. Sorry he was dragging you through that, Joe,
My heart was breaking for you. I'm like, we got
to let him know.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
He was just trying to have a casual conversation with
Joe Man. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Okay, we got four tickets for you for California's Great America.
Summer is almost gone, but the fun is not done
at California's Great America, Northern California's premiere amusement park, where
NonStop excitement awaits you around every turn. They're open daily
through August eighth, select days after that, and Joe, you
are going for free. Oh that's awesome. Thank you very much,

(15:20):
Carolyn and Court you guys. I'll look at you guys
every morning, so it's always good to hear you guys
on the radio and on the phone. You're so sweet. Yeah,
we appreciate that. And there will be another chance to
win tomorrow morning at the same time here on the breeze,
all right, thank you. One of our favorites from the
Thompson Twins. It is eight ten. Good morning, You've got
the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cords.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
So, Carolyn, I'm curious to know when you've used a
ride share service. Have you ever used the option of
where you share your share ride with other writers it's
a shared ride.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Oh, I see what you're saying, because you can do
it on the cheap that.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Way, like almost twenty per if not more cheaper than
your regular ride. Yeah. Basically just say other people are
gonna hop in this car.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
I did it once. It was a long time ago.
Why so uber.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Has this other option which is called Saverer, and it's
not always available to you, but they call it saver
and it's typically I like, again, twenty percent cheaper, okay,
and it basically my thought was it just delayed how
soon they picked you up. They said, hey, we're going
to pick you up, it's just gonna be later. So
the other day I'm like, I was heading across town.
I'm like, I'll just use Saver. I don't need to

(16:31):
get there right away. Yeah, So it took it took
fifteen minutes to finally connect me and get me set up.
I get into the car, we start heading out and
the guy's like, so we got to go pick up
this other person. And I'm like, what what are you
talking about? Oh, so it's like a share and a delay.
So it's a share and a delay. I obviously didn't
read the fine print, and the guy, Peter, it was
his name. Hello. Peter was obviously aware that I was

(16:54):
not aware. He's like, he's like, sorry, man, I have
no choice. I have to pick up this other person.
Are you okay with that? And I'm like I guess, so.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Oh my gosh, this started out that you were not
in a hurry, so that's funny.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Yeah, So then we go, Yeah, we go ten fifteen
minutes out of the way to pick up this other person,
who I think also was not aware that somebody else
would be sitting in the car, because they approached the
vehicle and started to get in where I was sitting
and jump back. I see the shot on her, see
the shock on her face. So then she goes to
the other side and gets in. She starts talking to Peter,

(17:28):
super happy with him. I decided I should probably say hello.
I'm like no, like, hey, how's it going, And she's
like fine. So so for about twenty more minutes we're
just riding alone talk. I felt like I was alone
because we were talking to each other. Were so awkward.
I didn't know what to do.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
How's it going?

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Well, I just wanted I wanted to make it. I
wanted to make it as chill as possible.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Oh, you sure did, and Ice cailled the room. Yeah.
Ice called wow. So that's really funny.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
The takeaway here is read that fine print. When you
think you're saving some bucks on this.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
I saved like three dollars and it was so awkward.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Really, it wasn't really that much money that I was saving.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Yeah, gosh, a great story. All right, we're at eight
seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one. By
the way, you know, we all remember that special teacher
in our lives. We all had that great teacher. For me,
it was Miss Styles. She was my typing teacher. I
loved her. She was amazing. I felt like she was

(18:31):
a friend in school. Yeah, and we bring this up
because it is your chance now to say thank you
in a big way with iheartradios, thank a teacher.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah, it's your chance to nominate an outstanding public school
teacher who's going above and beyond for their students. For
the chance for them to win five thousand dollars so
they can stock their classroom with whatever they need, because
oftentimes teachers are spending their own money to make sure
they've got the proper supplies in the classroom.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Which is crazy to me. I mean, we just love
our teachers so much, so be thinking about who that
teacher is for you, that's so special, that's always doing
amazing things for either your kids or maybe they were
your teacher back in the day. Nominate them. Ninety eight
