Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze, Morning Breeze on Demand. It's tweetwood Mac.
It's six nineteen. Good morning, it is the Morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Corn. It is time for the Morning
Breeze brain tease. We do it every weekday. Morning at
this time especially important, not just fun on a Monday,
but important as well coming off of a not just

(00:22):
a weekend, a long weekend. Yeah, I think you really
need our help to wake yourselves up this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Now you may have just been big time relaxing. Yeah,
and now it's time to get back to work, and
we're helping out with the Morning Breeze brain teas.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Some say chill axin, uh, some say okay. Morning Breeze
brain Teese is sponsored by Mike Counsel Plumbing. You're in
clean hands with my Council Plumbing. You can visit them
at mcplumbing dot com. So what is that question again, cork.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Thirty one percent of people say this is something that
can really derail or ruin a vacation.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
All right, let's see what you got eight seven seven nine,
eight one oh oh nine e one. That is how
you reach us. Angeline and valet Ho good morning. What
is your guess.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Argument totally.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
And sometimes it happens before you even get to the airport.
Oh for sure. Yeah, you speak from experience. Does this
happen to you and your family?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I see that. I think we all do. I think
we can all relate to this. Because this answer is
so good, I'm gonna officially say you are not wrong.
Can't be right, but not the specific answer we're looking for.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Not the one you're looking for it Okay, Oh, all right, Angeline,
have a great day.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
All right, Amy in Fremont. What do you think the
answer is?

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Somebody just not wanting to participate? The worst when you
go on vacation with someone and you feel like someone
doesn't want to be there in the group and they're
just bringing everybody down.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Okay, so a poor sport is that a sport is
not the correct answer. Thirty one percent of people say
that a bad bed can easily derail their vacation. A
bad bed to the hotel and the bed is bad.
Have you ever had that happening? I have. As a
matter of fact, we just went to Sonoma on a
work trip with my husband and the bed was horrible.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
I feel like Sonoma wouldn't have a bad bed in
their entire like city barely Amy found the one. I
found the woman. Yeah, we'll have a free day.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
You to take care of guys. Bye bye bye. It's
interesting to think about when you go on vacation the
things that could ruin that vacation. Obviously, yeah, thirty one
percent of people say bed, but there's all sorts of
things that are contributing factors.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
My friends and I went to Mexico one time, or
five of us. Three out of the five got food poisoning,
poisoning some pizza that we had in Mexico.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Well when when when you go to Mexico.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
When in Mexico, pizza is what you eat. And it
was one of those things where one at a time
somebody would get sick. Yeah, and you're sitting there waiting
and then you start thinking, am I sick too?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:22):
When you're not, but you feel like it's coming on.
And that really derailed that trip.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah. I got the flu in Italy years and years ago.
I was traveling with my parents.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
That's so random, where I had a fever and chills
and I had to wake up in the middle of
the night and take hop baths just to like calm
myself down. That's terrible.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
It was horrible. That's terrible, horrible.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Well, good morning, Happy Monday from the Morning Breeze.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
On that note, Yeah, the Morning Breeze brain Tease we
play every weekday morning at six twenty. You never know
where the brain teas is going to lead you conversation wise,
that's true.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Coming up this morning, Hey, this is exciting. Carolyn. Seven
thirty five your chance to win tickets to see Barry
manil Ah.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
I am a fan of Low. I love him. I
have seen him so many times in concert. I've gone
to Reno to see him. I've gone to Las Vegas
to see him. I've gone to San Jose to see him.
I am a huge fan. He still sounds good and
sings all the hits.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Yeah, And he's doing two shows here in the Bay Area,
one at the Oakland Arena and the other one in
San Jose. We've got tickets for the show in Oakland
coming up July eighteenth.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, So be here at seven thirty five your chance
to win Barry Manilow tickets. Here on the Breeze, The
Breeze the.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Righteous Brothers Here on ninety eight point one, The Breeze
it's the morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. Six forty
one is the time, and that means it's time for
the more. You know.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
That's what we're calling, right, Yeah, that's what we're calling.
I just like the sound effect takes me back.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
This is a chance for you to learn something in
the morning. Yeah, little snackable nuggets of goodness and knowledge.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Nackable nugget of goodness and in knowledge. Oh and knowledge.
That's a very good segue. So I was asking you
a minute ago, Court, have you heard of summer ween?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
No? No, I mean I've got some theories now that
I've had a chance to think about it for a
couple of minutes.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
It is a new trend. It is for people who
love Halloween. That's me. Is this what you thought it was?

Speaker 2 (05:17):
I thought that might be where it's going.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
They love Halloween like you, Court, but they don't want
to wait till October, so they start celebrating Halloween in
the summer. Okay, more and more people are doing this.
They carve melons instead of pumpkins. They dress up in
bikinis as skeletons. I was trying to figure out how
you do that. They decorate their houses for summer Ween,

(05:39):
and this has gotten to the point where so many
people are doing it that retailers have noticed this trend
and they've started like accommodating summer wedding fans. Like a
Lows has put out a summer Ween section. You can
go to your local Lows and say, where is the
summer Ween stuff? So, like Aisle three, summer Ween is
just it's Halloween stuff. Summer it's skeleton's bats, yeah, graveyard decoration.

(06:05):
But again, keep in mind, there are no pumpkins, so
you're you're carving watermelon or you're carving you know something.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Else, sure, some sort of Gordon. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
I mean, I'm not a huge Halloween fan, so summer
Ween is a zero for me.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yeah, I feel like what makes Halloween special is the
fact that it's in October. Yeah, it's in the fall,
and it's in the fall. The weather's the nights, it
gets darker earlier. Yeah, like, let's summer be summer. And
this is coming from a guy. My favorite holiday is Halloween.
I know you love it, but I don't feel like

(06:38):
we should be celebrating Halloween all the time, because then
it's not special anymore.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
I feel like this is a to each his and
her own. If you want to celebrate summer weeen knock
yourself out. Will I be decorating my house? Well, if
I don't for Halloween, I sure as heck I'm not
going to for summer week.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Basically, what you're saying is we don't want to yuck
anybody's yums. I hate when you say that. Yes, if
you've find a summerwen yummy, we don't want to yum it.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
But that's it.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
But this is a growing trend, and it sounds like.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
It is a trend. It is a trend. So how
do you feel about celebrating Summerween? Are you someone that
does celebrate I'd love to hear from somebody that does
actually decorate for it. We're at eight seven seven nine
eight one oh nine eight one. You can send us
a message with our iHeartRadio app as well. Great way
to reach out to us at your convenience and.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Coming up this morning seven thirty five. If you didn't
hear all week long, we've got your tickets to see
Barry Manilow, who's coming to the Bay Area. It's a
couple of different shows and we're going to send you
to the show July eighteenth at the Oakland Arena.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
I'm just thinking about all the songs you're going to
sing along with, Like, he's one of those artists you
know every single song, if you and if.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
You haven't been to a Barry Manilo show. He does
this thing because one of his big claim to fames
is writing jingles, advertising jingles, and he does this big medley. Yeah,
it is awesome. It's fascinating, Yeah, and entertaining and all
the things. So you could be there, be here at
seven thirty five, your chance to win those tickets.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Here on the.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Breeze, Kim Carnes, Here on ninety eight point one. The
Breeze the base number one for relaxing favorites for your morning.
Another great cover song that you don't realize is a
cover song. Yeah, it is not the first one to
perform that song, but I love her rendition of it. Yeah.
Seven six is the time you've got the morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Court and it is time for the
brighter side. This is where you share the good and

(08:25):
positive things happening in your life. And I've got a
long list of things that could serve it as an
example of positive things. I won't go through the list today, Carolyn.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Okay, you have a lot of lists. I've noticed about you.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
I'm a big fan of lists. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
I was just talking to Court about something and he
was crossing things off, and I said, are you crossing
off what we were going to discuss on Monday? And
you were no a list.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
I was making sure that we covered everything. But think
about the good things in your life, because here's how
I If it brings a smile to your face, that
qualifies as a Brighter Side instant and we want to
hear from you. Eight to seven, nine eight one. The
Brighter Side is sponsored by Shreven Company, Luxury time Pieces,
find Designers, and Flawless Diamonds.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
We were talking a minute ago about the fact that
over the weekend a lot of Little League games were
happening all over, you know, not just the state, but
the nation. Well, there was a little league game in
southern California and Los Angeles County and this umpire who
was the home plate umpire of the little league. Yeh game,
of course, I think that's the only umpire in all
fairness for a little league. But he was behind home

(09:29):
plate and he had a heart attack on the field.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
And so immediately bystanders, players, coaches all run out. They're
trying to come to his aid. Right, And then sitting
in the stands is a doctor, Ah, doctor Jen Poole
from Cedars SI, and I rushes to the field starts

(09:53):
CPR on this umpire. She performed it for seven to
ten minutes. Now, I have never performed see, but I've
taken a lot of CPR classes, and I have heard
that CPR is really difficult. Like when you're doing it,
it takes a lot, you're in a panic. Yeah, it's
physically hard. So you think seven to ten minutes. She's
a tiny little person doing chest compressions. Yes, and she's

(10:16):
like all of five feet tall, tiny little thing. But
she restarted this umpire's heart multiple times before emergency services arrived,
he says. The umpire says, I literally died on the field,
and she brought me back to life. He says her
actions are rare and her actions are heroic, and they
are both encouraging more people to learn CPR, and they

(10:38):
also want to, you know, have defibllerators more at the ready,
sure in public places and community venues, because those save
lives as well, so just an amazing story.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
That's pretty great because kind of to your point, CPR,
the action itself, it can be hard because it's got
to be continuous. But they've really simplified it from the
days when you and I were younger, because it used
to be breathing into the mouth, getting them breathing again,
and then the chess compressions. They simplified it all straight
down to just chess compressions. If somebody's hard to stop,

(11:09):
you just you only do the chess compressions. Yeah, and
that's where it becomes hard because it's just continuous. So
oftentimes you'll see like medical teams take turns, yes to
keep that going if they've if you know, if they've
got an ambulance nearby, they actually have an apparatus that
does it for them.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
I would also like to say consult your local Red
Cross or don't get the doctor in your life to
clarify what we're saying. We certainly don't want to be
the ones to say like, hey, this is how you
do those rescue breath Yeah yeah, but yes I've heard that.
Go get CPR trade there you are. But just an
amazing story. I mean, the odds of a doctor was

(11:45):
there in the stands watching her. It's just incredible, so
happy to hear that all is well with that, umpire.
We're at eight seven seven one, nine eight one. If
you have a brighter side for us, we definitely want
to hear from you.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
And while we're talking about good people doing good things,
let's talk about the Morning Breeze Person of the Week,
because on Friday we will once again be naming somebody
in the Bay Area to that prestigious title.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Yeah, so let us know who those people are for
you that are making a difference in your life, no
matter how big or small, just if they're doing good
things every day and you feel like they need to
be highlighted. That is why we are here to highlight
those people. Get your nominations in ninety eight one the
Breeze dot com that is share with Peter Sitera And

(12:28):
it's after all, it's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and
Court seven twenty seven, which means it is time. We're
actually a minute or so late or ask us anything.
We do it every weekday morning at this time a
chance for you to call us or email us or
dm us and ask us any question at all. We
will literally ask almost anything that you send our way.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
We'll try to at least we'll do our best to
answer those questions.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Good about it?

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I think one time we told the person, yeah, we can't,
can't do that. Remember what it was at this point,
but yeah, well we'll answer almost anything. Robert in San
Jose sent us an email, super nice. Loves the show
listens every morning. Thank you, Robert, thank you. He said
for ask us anything. If you could make the ultimate sandwich,
what what would it be?

Speaker 2 (13:15):
I'm torn on this because next to pizza sandwich, a
sandwich is my favorite type of food. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
People are very particular about their sandwiches.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
I'm a ham guy. Like a ham sandwich. I loved it.
It's gonna have pickles on it, Okay. I do enjoy
when you throw the potato chips into the sandwich.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
I wouldn't get that.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Oh it's so good. Extra crunch?

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Are you doing that on a Dutch crunch roll? I
know that's your new thing? Is you do you have
a Dutch crunch with the Dutch crunch, You're good because
you got the crunch. You don't need those extra potato chips.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Okay. If you're like doing. It's still old playing Jane wheat,
you know, wheat bread or white bread.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Okay, I'm not here to build your sandwich then, so
why don't you tell us what's on it? You got ham, you.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Got ham, you got pickle, you got a provolan or
sometimes a switch and then lettuce, tomatoes if they're crisp, Mayo,
m h Dejonne mustard.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
How do you feel about the sauces lately?

Speaker 2 (14:10):
How soft? How like?

Speaker 1 (14:12):
There are so many different sauces.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
And there's too many sauces. If I want to go
on an I want to go on record and saying
there are just too many sauces. Just keep with the classics.
When it comes to like, you just got the mail,
you got the mustard, what else do you need?

Speaker 1 (14:24):
I disagree. I love a good sauce. I love walking
down the aisle at the grocery store and looking at
all the options. Is that how you spend your saturdays?
Sometimes I do. I'm also single, so that could be
part of it.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
So so okay, typically speaking, I walk into a sandwich shop,
I'm looking at the ham sandwiches.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Okay, what about you, I'm going to mister pickles, well right, period.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Carolyn is very much.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
It's very much on record that she is a mister
Pickles gal. I saw the word sandwich and this email
from Robert, and I was like, mister Pickles, it's like
a dog. You.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
You actually emailed over the weekend because I had family
in town, and you said, you said, hey, by the way,
are you introducing your family to mister Pickles? And I said, well,
it was not on my list of things to do
in the Bay. And what did I say?

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (15:13):
You said, well, that's a shame. Yeah, it's a shame.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Said so for me right now, my go to sandwich
is the hot tea at mister Pickles, and it's the
letter T Yeah, Turkey, pepper jack, Baja sauce, a secret sauce,
cranberry sauce, and the works. I don't know what the
works are, but I do know there's lettuce on there

(15:36):
and then there's those pepper chinis.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Oh, it's a good sandwich. Is the good sandwich.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
The problem I have with all these different kinds of
sauces is if you find yourself in a place where
you just have the go to the tried and truths,
the maleny, it's still got to stand up. That sandwich
still needs to be good.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Don't knock the sauce. The sauces are out there to
bring some creativity to your sandwich game.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
The sauce should not make the sandwich.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
I disagree a sauce can make or break a sandwich.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Okay, I think we're on.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Is this our first fight? I think it is okay, fine,
but it's ask us anything. We do it every weekday
morning at this time. Bring us your questions. If you
have a sandwich that is your go to that we
have to try, try and get me away from mister pickles.
Go ahead, share you it's not going to happen, but
we're at eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one,
or send us message with our iHeartRadio app that talk back.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
And we are just moments minutes away from your chance
to win Barry Manilow tickets when he hits the stage
at Oakland Arena coming up July eighteenth. He's doing two shows.
It's I believe he's gotten I don't think he's calling
it the farewell tour, but they're basically saying his last
show in Oakland, his last show in San Jose, and
we would love to send you for free.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
I know, copa Cabana. Can't Smile without you, Mandy Andy,
I write the song somewhere down the road. It looks
like we made it.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
So many songs, I know.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Be here at seven thirty five, Your chance to win.
It's the Morning Breeze. It's Carolyn and Court Bob in
Pleasant and congratulations. You are our first winner this week.
You're going to see Barry Manilow.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
All right, guys, that's a good one. It is a
great one.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Yes, way to go.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
That's a great line. Oh man, that's gonna be a
great show.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
It's gonna be a great show. So many hits. So
what's your favorite Barry Manilow song?

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Can't live without You.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Can't Smile without You, such a classic, I can't.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Kids, there's too many. He's got more hits than he
could play in three days.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
You got that right?

Speaker 2 (17:43):
All right, Bob, You've got yourself two tickets to see
Barry Manilow at the Oakland Arena on July eighteenth. It's
all courtesy of Outback Presents. Tickets on sale now at Ticketmaster.
And we'll do this again tomorrow in all week long.
Seven thirty five. Your chance to win here on the
Morning Breeze.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Okay, it's TLC. That is Waterfalls eight oh eight. It
is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cors.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
I don't think I can handle any more technology, Carolyn, I.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Know, I can't wait to hear what this is.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
So for Father's Day, so a couple of weeks ago,
my daughters gave me new Apple air buds.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
Okay, the high tech. How are they different from the standard?
Do they have like more features?

Speaker 2 (18:24):
They do? They do all sorts of things, one of
which is this thing called spatial audio, which basically I
don't know how to describe it. You use your phone
when you sync with your air buds, and it takes
a picture of your head and you move your head around,
so it knows how big your ears are, how far
you're the distance between your ears, so that they can

(18:46):
fine tune the air buds so that they sound as
best as they can. Oh.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
I love that because sometimes you have those in and
the sound is like not great, and you're having to
like jam them in your ears, and so this figures
all that.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
It's kind of like a custom fit, even though you're
buying he's just off the shelf. It's a custom fit
for sound, but the spatial sound. What it does is
it kind of creates a concert like atmosphere where the
sound is coming from the from ahead of you. But
you get you're getting things in stereo. But what it
means is if you turn your head left and right.
I'm turning my head right now.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
For all the people that can see the radio.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
The sound will shift a little bit so that it
still sounds like it's coming from the same direction.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
That sounds like it would mess with you a little bit.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Well, that's that's my problem. Is I'll turn my head
and like like I'll be hearing you know, if I'm
listening to you too, I can hear Bono singing in
front of me. I'll turn my head and suddenly he's
just in my left ear.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Oh that's weird.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Only for a brief moment, but it scares me. And
so I'll be like out for a walk, I'll be
listening to the breeze on my airbuds and then in
my right ear because I turned my head to the left.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
I mean, it sounds like one of those features that
seems good in theory exactly, but then but for it's
almost too much.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Almost too much for somebody like me apparently, and I
never thought I would be that guy. I know, but
I will literally be walking down the street and it
will happen and it'll like jump because it scares me.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
You're becoming the dad that is the guy that's like
I just missed the old days of the walkman put
it on headphone. You're that guy now all they did.
Oh that's interesting. I kind of want to try him,
it's but I don't want to have to buy him
to try him to not like it's.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Pretty it's pretty amazing there. You know, technology is it
is cool, and I know Apple is not the only
one that's doing this type of thing, but it's like
it's almost like we do we really need this?

Speaker 1 (20:41):
I know, but I mean, you know you're getting older
when there's certain technology that you just can't embrace. You
think you should, you kind of want to, but you
just this might be it for me. The great thing
is you can go into your settings and turn that off.
Oh good, not quite there yet. See if I can
get used to it. I mean, no genius, but I

(21:01):
feel like it's coming. Meanwhile, you might see me like
get scared a little bit out of nowhere. I'll no
for no reason at all. It's happening. We're at eight
seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one. Send us
a message anytime our iHeartRadio app. A lot of you
love using the talkback feature on our iHeart Radio app.
We love getting your messages from our app. And that

(21:22):
microphone button next to the play button, so just push
that and speak into it, and that is how you
send us a talkback on our app.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
And coming up later this hour eight p fifty, we're
going commercial free, which means ninety eight minutes of non stop,
commercial free, relaxing favorites.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, we've got Pink in there and Michael Jackson and
Madonna and Juice Newton, oh yes love Angel of the Morning.
So all that and more commercial free coming up eight
fifty this morning on the Breeze
