You're in clean hands with Mike Council Plumbing. Visit them
at mc plumbing dot com. Got kind of a tricky
one for you this morning.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
You think this is tricky on I do twenty five
hundred dollars. That's how much the average American would pay
for this. Let's see how people do this morning with
the brain tease eight seven seven, nine eight one nine
eight one. We're going to start with you, Pam in Hercules.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
What is your gas car maintenance and upkeeas car maintenance?
Oh yeah, yeah, pretty much.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Sometimes after that amount, you might as well just get
a new car, right, You've got a thirty.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Or forty thousand dollars cars works up?
Speaker 5 (00:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Okay, so is that the answer? That is not the
correct answer today?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
All right, Pam, have a good day, Thanks for playing.
We're going to go to Holly now, who was listening
to us in Freemont. Holly, what is your guess.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Pone cell phone. Whoa what kind of plan are you on?
Money bags? Maybe you mean your maybe she means an
annual Maybe.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Explain yourself like it was for a plan, well plan.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Okay, now let me think about this.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Okay, wait, I'm going to like it's an average a month?
Is like what one hundred? Yeah? Oh oh yeah, No,
I'm over twenty five hundred bucks for my family plan.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Oh family plan. There's four of us on our plan.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Dang, well, that's a great guess it is. Yeah, is
that the answer?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
No, it's not the answer.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
No, okay, what is the answer to this? Twenty five
hundred dollars is the amount the average American would be
willing to pay for some peace and quiet? What I
want some piece and quiet?
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Did you make this up?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
This is a real study, real study. So Holly, let
me ask you a question. Are you married, you have kids?
What's your situation.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
I'm in a relationship, yes, and have kids, family, all
the things, so I would pay more than that.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
My wife would be in the same boat more than
especially moms.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
It's called a vacation. Would you pay twenty for vacation?
But a vacation without anybody else?
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Sounds like a good investment to me. All right, Holly,
you have a good day, all right, by bye. That's funny.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
It is interesting, though, like who issues these who comes
up with these studies? Who's funding that's a study? Great question, Corgan,
I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I don't make these up. I scour the globe.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
I'm constantly reading things, scientific research papers and whatnot.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
I don't think are literature.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
You go to the internet, Okay, that's all that's also
included in there, and I find these great information informative.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Facts, right, twenty five hundred bucks. Yeah, that is a crazy,
crazy answer. I like that one today though. That was good.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
All right.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
We're at eight seven seven nine eight one nine eight
one Morning Breeze brain teas we play every weekday morning
at this time.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Would also encourage you to visit our website at some
point this week ninety eight one, The Breeze dot Com
and maybe submit somebody in your life for the Morning
Breeze Person of the Week, because surely you've got to
know somebody great in your life that you would love
to win this weekly award.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
I feel like everybody has that person in their life
that's always doing good things for other people and more
times than not. That person is not getting recognition, and
this is where you can make that happen by telling
us about them and what they do. That is so wonderful. So,
like Court said, get those nominations in. We make the
announcement every Friday morning just after seven o'clock, but send
the nominations to us at ninety eight one. The Breeze
(03:46):
dot com at birthuies.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Abba at six point forty one in the morning.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Is just perfect, Carolyne, I know feels right if it
really does. It's ninety eight point one the Breeze. You've
got the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
So Court, you said that you're to use your words.
Pretty great.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, getting around without using GPS or any sort of directions.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Oh yeah, okay, I would dare say I'm excellent at it.
I mean, whoa I can once I get a sense
of direction in what the major like roads are in
an area. Did you say major major? Oh okay, like
roads arteries if you will, Okay, okay, I'm a major
reporter by the way, so I know. I'm sorry step aside.
(04:32):
I think I'm pretty good at it.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
They're saying that over half of Americans say they are
good or excellent just like you did at getting around
without GPS device directions.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
The keyword is they say that they're good.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Though, right, So sixty six percent of men, I think
no one will be shocked at this. Sixty six percent
of men say we are good or excellent about navigating
without the help of GPS. Forty one percent of women
say we're good.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Yeah. This tracks, this tracks this.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
This is just based on This is just based on
somebody asking and them saying, yeah, yeah, I'm good at it.
So we don't really know how good or excellent people
really are exactly. Now, let me throw this in there.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Those that are over the age of forty five say
they're way more confident. So as you get older, you
become more confident. Those under forty five say, mmm, we
have a tough time remembering a new route after we've
traveled at one time.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
I think also the.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Younger folks have grown up in a world of GPS.
That's the thing that's just always been available to them,
because before we had the GPS is on our phone
and even in the cars they had you know, those
garment devices that came in that was the digital Those
were the first like the garment.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
I remember the Thomas Guides going back to the old book,
talk about the little book. Yeah, or when you used
map Quest and you remember you'd print directions you like
four pages, remember that, and you're trying to drive and
you're like southwest on south blah blah blah. You had
no idea where you were going. But Thomas Guides are
taking it old school. Oh yeah, it is funny. I
(06:09):
mean you see people walking down the street now with
their device using GPS just to walk.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Oh yeah, let alone drive and they and they've lived
in the city for twenty years.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, well, those are the ones that are under forty
five that can't remember their new route after they've traveled.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
I kind of missed those days because I've I've done
some traveling in my life and I used to love
to go to like a new city fires ever, like
in Europe or whatever.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Go to the city.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
You'd find you'd go to the find a store and
typically could always find a map. You'd buy the map
and you'd use the map the entire trip you were there. Yeah,
so you'd get around out you just pull up your
phone or remember, you'd go, you'd go.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
The thing was to go to a gas station and
ask the attendants, Hey, how do I get to and
they're like, well, you go down the street, you take
a ride at the stop sign, and you're like okay, cool, thanks,
and then you get in your car and be like,
I guess I'll figure it out.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
So different now, isn't it is? So how do you
feel about this? Again?
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Sixty six percent of minas and say we are good
or excellent about navigating without the help of GPS, forty
one percent of women eight seven seven nine eight one
oh nine eight one.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Or send us a talk back with our iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Coming up this morning at seven twenty five. Once again,
we will be allowing you to ask us anything, your
chance to kind of guide the topic of the show.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Oh I love this.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
We kind of turn the show over to you ye
and let you just ask us whatever is on your mind.
So be thinking about what you want to ask us again,
send a talk back with your questions or call us
eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.
We'll do it at seven twenty five. Here on the Breeze,
it's seven oh seven. That's Taylor Dane The Morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Court every weekday morning at this time
(07:42):
we do the Brighter Side and this is where you
call us or you send us an email or slide
into our DMS as the kids do. The kids do
that a lot, and some adults sure. And you tell
us about the great stuff that's happening in your life.
It's a great way to start your morning. We are
at eight seven seven nine, eight, one oh nine eight
one Brighter Side sponsored by Shreaming Company, Luxury time Pieces,
(08:03):
Find Designers and Flawless Dignus.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
And this morning we're talking to Jay and El Serrito.
Jay's been a longtime listener to the Breeze and is
actually moving out of the Bay Area.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
We're getting ready to get on the road tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Tomorrow's the day I had a feeling it was tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
Yeah, it's been. It's a bittersweet, but it's it's time
to go.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
How's it feel to be leaving for good? Like moving
out of the Bay Area tomorrow?
Speaker 5 (08:27):
You know, it's kind of like I said, we've been
here for eight years. It was when we left Sacramento.
We came we were coming here, but we knew we
were in reach a Sacramento. So I think the hardest
part is that we're going to be so far away, yeah,
from the grandkids and stuff like said, it's bittersweet because
we have a nice place back there, and we have
a lot of family back there, and you know, more
(08:47):
more family my age, right, so I can you know,
enjoy my presidents and hang out with them and step well.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
And you know, technology these days makes the you can
FaceTime and video screen time or whatever.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Zoom, what sounded more like a grandpa right now? You
get on that done that dune. Darn, what are those
kids doing? Those portable devices FaceTime thing that they do,
So you're gonna have more screen time like FaceTime.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
But we know my wife words out here still. She's
working for a employment law firm, so she's gonna be
fine out here. And I'm gonna be tagging along being
her butler.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
So we'll be visiting enough being her butler.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Well, we wish you all the luck in the world.
We're gonna miss you. But the good news is you've
got our I Hurt radio apps. You can listen to
us on the go and when you move and all
that stuff.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
I'll be sitting down there on the dock, put my
feet by the water, listening to you guys.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Now that's living right there.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Jay, Time to slow down a little bit.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
We have a lot of people, honestly that have moved,
especially after the pandemic, that we'll call us and say
I listened to you on the app and my new
city or state or wherever they are, and they said,
it feels like home listening to the breeze and listening
to our show.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
So we hope the same for you. All right there,
safe travels.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
All right?
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Oh man, you know, I think about what that would
be like to leave the Bay Area. Yeah, it's got
to be such mixed emotions, sort of like he was saying,
where you're excited about this new adventure, but your roots
are here.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Sure.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
It's just got to be so surreal to pack up
your house and be like we're doing this.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Yeah, I've experienced it. Yeah, it's it's strange to move
as an adult when you've established a life for a
significant amount of time. So moving from Portland down here
to the Bay Area, uh huh, just kind of like
whoa you know. And there's a lot of similarities, but
there's a lot of things that are just different. And
it's it sounds to me with Jay, I mean he's
(10:46):
he said it. He's going to a place where he's
got relatives that are his age, and that's something he's
going to be able to look forward to totally and
live the retired life. And like you said, sit on
the dock with his feet in the water. I mean,
nobody can be mad at that. We're excited for you.
That is so cool. Congratulations again, Jay, And if you've
got a brighter side for us, we want to hear
from you. Eight seven seven.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Nine eight one oh nine eight one.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Would also love to hear from you, because coming up
this morning, in just a few minutes, seven twenty five,
it's ask us anything, your chance to ask any sort
of question, no question too big, no question too small,
anything on your mind. We may or may not have
the answer.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yeah, it could be about the show, It could be
about anything going on in the world. It could be
something that you're experiencing in life. If you just want
an outside opinion, it is literally ask us anything, and yeah,
we'll do it. At seven twenty five here on the breeze, it's.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Music from Berlin.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
It's seven twenty eight here on ninety eight point one
the breeze, it's the morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cord
and it is time for you to ask us anything.
And while us is in the title, Carolyn, this is
all about you. Yes, you asking us questions eight seven
seven nine eight one oh nine eight one. You can
call that number and also send us a talkback. That's
what a lot of people do, they send talkbacks.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
I love that. Easy to do.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
While you're streaming the Breeze. Look for the red microphone button,
click at leave your message. It shows up instantly.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
We get hit over the head. It's like new message alert,
and then Court goes and chases it down.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
It's perfect. It's a great system. I wish that hit
over the head though, is a little gentler. We'll work
on that.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
But today's ask us anything came from a lane in
Redwood City who asks.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
What is your favorite holiday? And why?
Speaker 5 (12:27):
Good?
Speaker 1 (12:27):
One great question. I gotta go with Thanksgiving. Yeah, for sure.
Here's why I love Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Thanksgiving is about well food and it's about hanging with
your family and your friends, and the gifts aren't involved.
When the gifts get involved, your focus is shifted or
you're sharing your focus with the gifts.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
I want to focus on the food in my family.
So for me, Thanksgiving it's easy, all the fields of
Christmas minus the.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Gift giving exactly that. How about you?
Speaker 3 (12:55):
For me, it's Halloween. I love Halloween. It's like I
just love decorating for it. I love seeing kids dressing
up is their favorite characters or whatever. Yes, I love
any candy. I love the candy.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
They love sampling the candy. Sure, yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Know Halloween isn't for everybody, but for me love it.
I know how much you love Halloween. See that's that
is a great question, Elayne.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
We put this question on our Facebook page as well,
and I love these answers coming in. Tisa says it's
Thanksgiving for her because she loves food. She loves football
done cheesy. Wes says New Year's Eve because he's a
store owner. So for him, he's like, I made it
to New Year's Eve. I survived another year and another holidays. Yes,
it's a marker for him.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
So great.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
A lot of people answering with Christmas, which I think
is is really great. I mean, yeah, most people have
a lot of time off around Christmas time and the
end of the year.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
And I am actually surprised. But I'm here for it.
How many people say Fourth of July is their favorite.
They like the food, the fireworks, the family. Selena says
it's her birthday month. Same here. So that's a reminder
for you, Court, really to write that down. It's coming
up in like a few days. Okay, cool, Yeah, so
Fourth of July for a lot of people. But we
(14:07):
again have this question on our Facebook page at ninety
eight one of the Breeze, so feel free to leave
your answers there. You can call us eight seven seven
nine eight one h nine eight one. That's also the
number you used to ask us anything. And coming up
later in the show eight fifty. As you begin your workday,
we're helping out with ninety eight minutes of non stop,
commercial free, relaxing favorites. A fantastic way to start your
(14:30):
day no matter what you have going on today, we
got you. We're commercial free for ninety eight minutes at
eight to fifty. Right here, that's Faith.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Hill at eight oh six.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Good morning, It is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
We were talking earlier this morning on the show. Court
you were saying that you are to use your words
pretty great when it comes to getting around without using
a GPS or directions of any sort.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
I think I might have upgraded myself to that I
was excellent at getting without a GPS.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
And an upgrade in the Okay, I'm pretty pretty good
at it.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Okay, well, congratulations on ep oh, okay, Roger, that we
got that. So there's a study that came out that
said that sixty six percent of men say they are
good or excellent about navigating without the help of GPS.
Forty one percent of women say we are good or
excellent excellent when it comes to navigating without GPS.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
No surprise at all that men are a little more
confident in this department, whether they actually are or not.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
They just say they are. They say they are, and
this totally makes sense.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
So we're kind of wondering, like, how you feel about
this in your world with your spouse, How does it
go in your household? We're at eight seven seven nine
eight one nine eight one Leslie and Hayward.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
What about you.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Here's what men do. They go buy landmarks like a
baseball stadium. If you tell them find this town, and
they go to the north side of this baseball stadium
water tower and it's three streets to the right they
don't need GPS. They're gone.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
All right, let's ask the man in the room.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Do you do that court, yeah, one hundred percent. In fact,
in my hometown growing up, there was this restaurant called
the Purple Turtle, And in my hometown of Pleasant Grove,
you gave all directions based off of So you get
into town, you look for the Purple Turtle. You take
the second right just after the Purple Turtle.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
That Purple Turtle, and they might have the most delicious
fish sandwich by the way.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Oh I didn't.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
That's so good.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
That's a surprise. I thought you were going to tell
me it was a breakfast place. No, no, no, it's a
fish place.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
No, it's it's a fast food place. So they had
fish sandwiches, hamburgers, fish and chips.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Why is it called no idea?
Speaker 4 (16:42):
You know, it's it's the thing. Even if you're going
to a big city, they look for the water tower.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Right.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Well, Leslie, thank you for calling. It was great talking
to you.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
I just love talking to you guys. I'm listening to
your radio stations every day. I love it.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
They appreciate it. Thank you. Yeah, good morning, Mario.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
What do you think you know what it means different
because I've been driving for Uber for almost ten years.
You know, I can go to Sacramento all the way
to fresh and a sign a cruise, I can go
all the way to Late. But again, because I think
i've been driving for Uber, that I know the roads
and the maps, you know, on the pole of my hand.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
I never thought about that Uber and Lyft drivers, you
guys know how to go everywhere without GPS.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
At this point, I'll bet I tend.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
To use GPS sometimes, even if I'm going somewhere I've
been a dozen times, I'll use my GPS just because
sometimes it'll tell you a quicker route.
Speaker 6 (17:29):
There's all the time too, like you know how long
you're gonna take this traffic as well?
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Right, exactly that. Well, thank you for listening.
Speaker 6 (17:36):
Thank you guys, have a great thing you too, you too.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Do you remember the old Day's court when we would
use a Thomas Guide?
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:44):
And then do you remember when map Quest came out
and you would plan this this road trip and you'd
have like the eight pages that you printed.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Up, well, because it was it was it was, if
I remember correctly, you would print out like a map, Yeah,
in black and white and arrows and arrows, and then
it had step by step instructions.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Yes, and you'd always end up not using the map
Quest stuff. You'd still stop at a gas station and
just ask because your map Quest directions became so confusing
and you get in a fight on your road. Yeah,
it would be a mess, So you'd end up stopping
and asking.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
I still stand by days.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Those were the days I'm able to Typically I can
look at a map, I may use a GPS in
a place I've never been before once twice, and then
once I get the feel for it, I'm good to go.
I'm slash excellent. Okay, we excellent? Okay four five times?
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Yeah, all right, we're at eight seven seven, eight one,
nine eight one. How do you feel as far as
are you good or excellent getting around without GPS? Or
are you somebody that still has to print it out
or write it down. You can also send us a
message with our iHeartRadio app using the talkback mic on
our app.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Coming up later in the show eight fifty So later
this hour we're going to be commercial free, helping you
begin your workdays the proper way.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yes, we've got ninety eight minutes of NonStop commercial free,
relaxing favorites. It's a fantastic way to start your day.
We will be commercial free, as courts said at eight
fifty here on the Breeze,
