The Morning Breeze Breeze on demand. It is six to ten on the Bay's
number one for relaxing favorites for yourmorning, ninety eight point one The Breeze
Morning Breeze. Caroline McCardell Court Johnsonwoke up this morning to hear the news
about Levi's Stadium going to be hostingthe Super Bowl Super Bowl sixty, right,

(00:21):
Yes, in twenty twenty six. That's a big deal for the Bay
Area. Yeah, I know.Super Bowl fifty was also hosted at Levi
Stadium. It was in twenty sixteen. Yes, stadium was brand new then
m still smelled new at the time. Sure, and then what's the smell
of a brand new stadium, Well, Court osmel, It's the same as

(00:41):
car smel, but less leathery.Yeah. So we in the Bay Area
have hosted the Super Bowl nineteen eightyfive that was played at Stanford Stadium,
and then of course nineteen I'm sorry, twenty sixteen was played at the brand
new Levi Stadium, as you pointedout, so twenty twenty six the next
time. And I was listening toa report last night on television where officials

(01:02):
at Levi Stadium we're saying we're reallyexcited, but man, do we have
a lot of work to do toget ready for this. And I you
know, it's almost like I thoughtin my head, did you put the
bid in and not expect to win? And now you're doing this? This
is happening. Yeah, I keepthinking about this, Carolina. This past
winner was super raining. Everybody knowsthis. Yes, if you remember the
issues that were at the stadium duringI think it was the the NFC Conference

(01:27):
final, the championship championship. Yeah, yeah, like that that was nuts,
slippery field. Obviously the fans aregetting soaked. Yeah, so,
I mean, you know, SuperBowl typically played in the end of January
or early February, so we'll haveto see what happens. But you know,
prices are are high, traffic isincreased. But it's good for the

(01:47):
businesses in the area, right,They they make more. So I don't
know, as a forty nine erfan or just a football fan, an
NFL fan in general, you've gotto be excited, ring yeah, that
this is going to happen. Imean, if you have thoughts one way
or another, we'd love to hearfrom you this morning. Eight seven,
seven, nine eight one h nineeight one, or you can connect with

(02:08):
us on Facebook ninety eight one,The Breeze, or Twitter or Instagram.
But certainly exciting, and speaking ofexciting and speaking of the Santa Clara area,
California is great America. Right acrossthe street. As a matter of
fact, they share a parking lotat Levi Stadium, and California is great
America. We're gonna have more chancesfor you to win tickets eight oh five

(02:34):
over Heels the Bays, Number onefor relaxing favorites for your morning ninety eight
point one The Breeze, Morning Breeze, Caroline McCardell Court, Johnson Court.
Apparently Americans are keeping their cars longerthan ever. We're keeping our cars on
average. Tell me if this resonateswith you, twelve and a half years,
it totally is, in fact, not too long ago. Okay,

(02:57):
so my current car is not twelveand a half years. I had an
opportunity. I was on a lease, and I had an opportunity to trade
it in an upgrade and go withthe new Shiny, and I just wasn't
having it, and this was obviouslyduring the pandemic. Yes, so inventory
was low, the features weren't thatgreat, and so I just did a
few little modifications on my current carand just ended up buying it rather than

(03:17):
so I kept with the car thatI had. Okay, that's what exactly
you mentioned the pandemic. Because ofthe pandemic, that's what's causing people to
keep their cars longer. Because ofthe chip shortage that we experienced that caused
car prices to skyrockets. A lotof people doing what you did, saying,
you know what, I'm just goingto keep my car. But I
started thinking about how much I lovedmy first car. Oh yeah, the

(03:39):
very first car, which was thecar I kept the longest. I kept
it for like fifteen years. Itwas an eighty one Mazda GLC. Oh
what color? It was? White? And I put louvers on the back,
and I tinted the windows and Iput a custom stereo in it.
Yeah. Oh it was that car. I was like, watch out,
conquered here I come at sixteen orseventeen years old. Yeah, what about

(04:00):
you? Nineteen seventy three super Beetle. Oh bought it from missus Hardy the
neighborhood Avon lady. She would alwayspull up and I'd be like, oh,
that's a sweet Volkswagen, and soshe offered it up. I think
we paid. This would have beenninety three. I think I bought it.
Yeah, I think we paid athousand dollars for it. It only

(04:23):
had like forty thousand miles on itfor a twenty year old car. Yeah,
it's a lot of Avon miles.Oh yeah, like a lot of
deliveries were made in that But Ihad it four. I didn't keep it
for as long as I wish Istill had it. Yeah, somehow I
think my dad traded it with somebodyfor probably Sam's first truck. I don't
know, pack of cigarettes something man. But yeah, so I missed that

(04:44):
car and like that first everybody's firstcar, I think is just you know,
so special it is. We putthis question on our Facebook page at
ninety eight when the Breeze Mike saidhe had a Toyota Corolla lift back nineteen
seventy nine with an Alpine stereo.Any had this car was my goal in
nineteen eighty three, Mazda RX sevenwith tea tops and maroon leather interior that

(05:06):

Loud seven twenty four, The Bay'snumber one for relaxing favorites for your Morning

(08:24):
ninety eight point one The Breeze. It is the morning Breeze. Carolyn mccartell,
Court Johnson, Good morning, Carolyn. Can we talk about something?
Yes, that's I'm you know,we're gonna, I don't know, air
some dirty laundry here on the air. But okay, remember you're new.
Sure, No, No, it'sokay. I want to talk about this
because I discovered something about you theother day. We went out for coffee,
took me to Pills oh yeah, last week, and you insisted that

(08:48):
we get our coffee to go becausethere wasn't any seating inside at the time.
Yes, And I learned that you. Oh, I know what you're
gonna say. Yeah, you don'tlike to eat outside. Nope. And
you said, quote the food tastedifferent. It does. And I was
like, what does. I've nevermet anybody before. It's kind of a

(09:09):
weird quirk I have. Yeah, everybody's got a quark. First of all,
well, I'm sure we do.Everybody's got a quirk. I've been
that way my whole life. Ifeel like when I eat outside, it
makes the food taste different or thecoffee taste different. So when it comes
to like barbecues, what's going onhere? Are you not participating? So
I was at my friend's Steve's house, not too long ago. We barbecued

(09:30):
outside. Everybody was sitting outside.I took my food into the kitchen and
ate it really quickly in the kitchenand then went back outside. What is
it about outside that makes you thinkthe food taste different elements? First of
all, eating in San Francisco outsideto me is so it's not my jam
because sometimes things are dirty, right, it's not the cleanest place in the

(09:50):
world. Beautiful parts of San Francisco, doesn't get me wrong. Yeah,
where are you eating? Also? There flies, there are there's garbage,
there are smells. The wind blowsnow my hairs in my food. It
cools it down fast. It's awhole thing. I apparently have a lot
of quirks. This is like therapy. Thank you. Course, there are
places in this world, like, for example, Paris has this huge cafe

(10:11):
culture where the whole thing is eatingoutside there for hours. I hope you
have fun and parents not down. No, you'll be taking that class inside.
No. Yeah, well, andso let me tell you what happened
over the weekend. Courts sent mea picture of you with your wife Randy,
and he was holding He's holding aFrench fry. We have this on

(10:31):
our Facebook page at ninety eight oneof the breeze, and he wrote,
You're right, Caroline, this tastelike dirt. Yeah, I wrote it
a. I wrote sarcastically that wewere eating outside. It was a beautiful
weekend and I was eating this deliciousfry and it tasted the exact same every
other I will say again, everybodyhas a quirk. Do you have a
quirk that you want to share withus? Are you perfect? I'm perfect?

(10:52):
Okay, I thought, I justdon't like tomatoes. Okay, Okay,
there you go. And I'm withyou on that as well. Eight
seven seven nine eight one nine eightone. If you have a quirk,
this is the most times I've eversaid quirk in a conversation or on our
Facebook page at ninety eight when thebreeze A good time for you to use
our iHeartRadio app. Pushed on thatmicrophone button while you're listening to the breeze

(11:13):
on the app and record a message. We get it right away here in
the studio. California is Great Americatickets Those are coming up at eight oh
five right here on the Breeze sevenon the Bays, number one for relaxing
favorites in the morning, ninety eightpoint when the breeze Morning Breeze, Carolyn
McCardell court Johnson courted. Is nosurprise that the Bay area has a pothole

(11:37):
problem. I know you're kind ofnew to the Bay Area, you've probably
noticed when you walk around, eventhe streets of San Francisco. Maybe this
is one of the comforting things forpeople to know, is that like potholes,
it's a universal issue. Yeah,no matter where you go, not
just San Francisco Bay, They've gotthem there. They are everywhere. Well,

(11:58):
this city of Oakland, there isa massive pothole problem. There is
a woman in particular in Oakland whohas called the city multiple times saying these
potholes are actually not only causing carsto swerve around them, which is dangerous
as you're risking running into other cars, but obviously the damage that you get
to the rims on your cars.So nobody was coming out from the city

(12:20):
to fix these potholes. So shestarted going out on her own with a
bag of dirt and she would fillthe potholes in Oakland with dirt, and
then she'd plant a flower. Ohwow, the potting plant. It was
like a pot so that not onlywould cars slow down and go, whoa,
is that a flower growing out ofClifton Avenue in Oakland. Sure,

(12:41):
but they everybody was taking their timeand they didn't want to run over the
flowers. So anyway, that gotthe attention of Oakland police one day when
she was out there potting a pothole, right and yeah, as that's what
happens in Oakland, and the policeofficer said, we need to get somebody
out here because now you're in dangerthat you're out here in the middle of

(13:05):
the road planting these plants. Andso within like twenty minutes, the city
came out and they started filling thesepotholes. But what really struck me about
this story is the Oakland police officercame by says, are you actually planting
flowers and the potholes? She saidyeah, and he said, you know,
I shouldn't say anything, but thisis really brilliant well and told her

(13:26):
she was a genius. That's mybig takeaway is when we see these issues
in our community. Is the solutionplant a plant? So you plan a
plant? Do you plant a plant? Put make it a pot and plant
a plant. I know, andI want to see some photos of this
because I think it would be reallycute. I have this image conjured up
in my brain of like this bigpot hole now with dirt and like a

(13:48):
petunia. Sure I'm sticking out ofit, but we thought it was pretty
genius. We have more on thison our Facebook page ninety eight one,
the Breeze Morning Breeze page ninety eightone, the Breeze dot com as well.
But if you are a resident inthe East Bay, did you see
this? Did you see these flowersthat she has planted? I'd be curious
to see if anybody drove by andsaw what this woman was doing. I

(14:11):
think it's pretty pretty smart neighborhood beautificationprojects, I know, all on her
own. Yeah again eight seven sevennine eight one h nine eight one.
