Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze. Morning Breeze on demand s Glemdaros at
six twenty one. Here on ninety eight point one The Breeze.
You've got the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cord on
a day that feels very much like a fall day
in the Bay Area. Sure does this rain and wind.
We're going to distract ourselves though, with the Morning Breeze
brain teas. It's sponsored by Mike Council Plumbing. You're in

(00:22):
clean hands with Mike Council Plumbing. Visit them at mc
plumbing dot com. Today's question. The younger you are, the
more likely you are to get this as a souvenir
when traveling to an exotic location.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
We are at eight seven seven nine eight one nine
eight one. Use that number or our iHeartRadio app with
the talkback Mike to send us your guesses. This morning,
it's Wendy and Eldorado Hills. You are a first What
do you think of the answer is to today's brain tease.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
A magnet or a snow globe? A magnet or a
snow globe when you are traveling, is that something you
pick up for yourself?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
No, Normally it's like postcards.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Oh my gosh, I remember buying postcards as a kid.
They're easy to get, they're easy to store. Yeah, good guess,
not the correct one. I really liked that guest though, Stephanie,
I wanted you to be right. Well, have a good day.
Thank you for listening.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
All right, we have a good rest of your day.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Thanks you too.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
And now, Carolyn, we have a guest coming from our
free iHeartRadio app. It's a talkback. Awesome.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
I'm going to guess to Kila's shotglasses. Thank you all.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Have a great day. That was where my mind went first. Yeah,
with shot glasses or something obvious like that, and they're everywhere. Yeah,
but not the correct answer. All right, Well, thank you
for the talkback. And by the way, you can send
us one anytime. Just push that microphone on our app.
All right, Jocelyn and Mantica, you're up.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Probably like jewelry, like grings and necklaces.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
Oh, to buy jewelry.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
You know, my daughter is every time we go on
vacation somewhere, they always try to find like the little
jewelry stores or like the places that sell crystals.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
That's so funny. See this bracelet that I'm wearing. I
just bought it on vacation at a crystal shop. You
might be onto something, Jocelyn. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
As wildly popular as jewelry shopping is. Yes, not the
correct answer. What is the correct answer. The younger you are,
the more likely you are to get a tattoo while
on vacation in an exotic place. A tattoo, Jocelyn, Have
you done that?

Speaker 3 (02:27):
I have not.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
You find yourself in Bali, you get yourself a tattoo
of a hula girl on your shoulder.

Speaker 5 (02:33):
Really, quirt, I don't showing this out, all.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Right, Jocelyn. Well, have a good day. Thank you for
joining us this morning on the show. We loved having you.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Thank you so much again.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yeah, you're welcome. I know, Hannah, tattoos on vacations are popular.
Oh sure, yeah, yeah, well I know.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
My oldest daughter is twenty years old and anywhere she
goes and she if she sees a tattoo shop, she's
suddenly interested in.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
It, like a real tattoo or a hen.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
She's only gotten a couple of tests. She's now a
two tattoo person. Ooh, but she has yet to do
one while on vacation, but I can totally understand the mindset. Yeah,
this is the younger you are, the more likely you
are to get that tattoo while on vacation.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
You're having fun, maybe you're with your friends, and it's
the whole like I will, if you will, let's go.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
This is great.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
We need to like remember this vacation with a special
tattoo of a turtle on my exactly.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
And I think the exotic location really plays into it,
because I mean, if you're vacationing in Fresno, like as
people do, what kind of tattoo you're gonna get as
they do?

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Good One Morning Breeze brain teas we invite you to
join us play long every weekday morning here at six
point twenty on the Morning Breeze.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
And coming up next Monday and then all week long.
The Breeze is taking the stress out of your holidays
with complete Thanksgiving dinners. It's our annual tradition here at
the Breeze.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yeah, it's brought to you by Premiere When Credit Union,
as Court mentioned, we do it every single year. We
want to just make your holidays a little bit easier,
one less thing for you to worry about. So it's
your chance to win those complete Thanksgiving dinners every hour
on the hour from six in the morning till six
at night, starts Monday.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Here on the Breeze.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
The Louise.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
That was one of my favorite songs off of the
Footloose soundtrack, now cassettes that I about wore into the ground.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
I love that sound.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Too well, those soundtracks. SIT's got so many great songs.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
On Sonnie Tyler holding out for a Hero Footloose from
Kenny Loggins.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Song filmed in My Close to my Hometown.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I know you've told me that about eight hundred and
ninety two times, and I'm as excited as you are about.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Just telling you that. The guy, the guy who taught
me how to ride my bike, Bobby Tucson is in
the opening scene when John Lithgow is up there preaching
at the pulpit and he's sitting in the congregation, and
like there's Bobby Tucson. Yep.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Now eight hundred and ninety three times. All right, it's
the morning Breeze, It's Carolyn and Court. Six forty is
the time, and every weekday morning at six forty it
is ask us anything, a chance for you to ask.

Speaker 5 (05:02):
Us anything on your mind.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
We always say it could be about the show, it
could be about our lives, it could be something in
your world where you're just looking for that third and
fourth opinion. You'd like an outsider's opinion on it. That's
what we're here for. We're at eight seven seven nine one,
nine eight one. A lot of people choose to send
us talkbacks with our iHeartRadio app. That's a great way
to send us or ask us anything. Anything goes Yeah,

(05:26):
And in fact that's actually how our question came into
us this morning.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Hi, good morning, It's Elsie from Pleasant Hill.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
My question for you all is what is your most
embarrassing work story that was excruciating in the.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
Moment, but now you look back at it and laugh.
Thank you, love you guys.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Oh so nice. Thank you Elsie and a great question.
I wish Elsie, that was a talkback off of our app,
as you said, but I wish she had said, oh,
by the way, mine is blank, pot plan, because I'd
love to hear what hers is.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Sure, Yeah, no, mine hands down?

Speaker 1 (06:01):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (06:02):
So?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I have two stories, there's one both in radio. It's
just excruciating both in radio. One time I went to
the restroom. And it was a radio station kind of
like ours, where the restroom is down the hall. And
I was working a weekend shift and I forgot my
card key. It was locked in the station.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Right, So you exited the station to go to use
the restroom, and now you can't get back in, and the.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Radio station was playing in the restroom, and all of
a sudden, I just heard the song end and it
went silent, and I realized in that moment, oh my gosh,
I don't have my card key. I was in a
full panic. So we're off the air. I go running,
of course, back to the station. Luckily, somebody who works
in the building was there on a weekend, like somebody

(06:46):
from property management.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
Let me in.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
But what I did that was extra embarrassing is instead
of just going into the studio and hitting the button
to play the next song or the next element, I
turned on the microphone. He tried to cover and tried
to talk, and I was so out of breath and
in such a panic. It was so embarrassing. People were
calling saying, are you okay? That's one?

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (07:08):
What about you have.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
You have this on tape? By the way, is there recording?

Speaker 5 (07:12):
I probably would have been on tape for me.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Also in radio in my early days, I was on
a morning show This is in Utah, and I was
I was the news reader. I would I would read
the news, and I was doing an entertainment report talking
about how Hasbro, which is they do board games and toys,
was starting to do movie releases of their most popular
board games. So I'm going through naming the different things

(07:36):
that are playing and I get to one and it's
something as a game I had never heard of before.
So live on the radio, I'm like, there's this there's
this game called Aluijjah and I'm sounding it out live
on the radio, and my co host she's like, are
you a dummy? And I'm like, what are you talking about?
She's like, it's Ouiji and I'm like, ohiji bar. I

(07:56):
had never seen I'd actually never we never had a
board in our house.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Never.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yeah, ollow yeah, And so I was seeing a wei
jaw for the first time in my life.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Okay, I'm about to make you feel better because my
second story, and I wasn't going to tell it, but
now to make you feel better, my second embarrassing story
was I was very new in radio. I think I
was in college at the time and I was on
the air. It was one of my first shifts, and
I was talking about things going on in the Bay Area. Yeah,
and there was a fall Fest artisan market and I
said the Artesian Market.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
Because I didn't know, you know, I was like twenty one.
It happens, I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
So you're you're Owisia Oisia Asian Market. All right, ask
us anything. We do it every weekday morning at this time.
Great question, Elsie, and thank you for that. Talkback on
our iHeartRadio app. You can reach us anytime. Eight seven
seven nine eight one, nine eight one. Back in a
sec on the Breeze.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
The Culture Club at seven o six Here on ninety
eight point one The Breeze. It's the Morning Breeze with
Carolyn and Court. Time now for the Brighter Side, sponsored
by shre Even Company, Luxury time pieces, find Designers and
Flawless Diamonds. The Brighter Side is where you call in
and tell us about the things making you happy right now.
Sometimes you might even call in and brag about something
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
This is like your one time of the day that
bragging is totally allowed.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Totally allowed. Eight seven seven nine eight one You can
also send us your brighter sides using the talkback feature
on our free iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
App, Vicki and Naposy. You said you have a great
brighter side for us.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
What is it?

Speaker 4 (09:27):
I have a little bit sad but happy brighter side.
My neighbor passed away unexpectedly and left two young cats
behind that our sisters and the daughter was trying to
rehome them, and nobody wanted.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
To take the two. So I took the two and
I already have one. The happy part is they're now
got a mamma again and they're adjusting to my cat.
My cat's adjusting to them.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Wow, you are people that rescue animals like have a
special place in my heart for sure.

Speaker 5 (10:05):
Awesome.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Well, they they were just really young, about a year
and a half, and they didn't understand why she wasn't
coming home.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
You know, So that makes me so sad.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
I have really a great memory. So already I haven't
even had them two weeks.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
That's cute that they're having that big of an impact
on you already.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Yeah, And they run one chase my cat chases one
and the other one chases my cat.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
If you ever want to see a grown man, cry, Vicky,
describe what you're doing right now or have me watch
these types of videos on social media. When I see
rescue videos of cats and dogs, I'm just weeping. And
so you've done such a great thing.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Well, they were little love bugs. I mean, she obviously
gave them a lot of love and there their little
luve bugs and they just they just need to learn
all three how to get along, and.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
The bill all happen, they will.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
And I also feel like when animals are rescued, they
always know that they were rescued.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
I hope. So I tell them that I know they
missed their first mama, but I will give them the
love that you can't. So yeah, oh it starts out sad,
but it's a good Indian.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
That's a great ending.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
And we so appreciate you sharing that with us. And
thank you for rescuing them.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
You're welcome. Thank you for you guys, thank you and
the show you do.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
Okay, we appreciate a great day you too, Bye.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
VICKI, thank you, bye bye Mite.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
And if you have a brighter side for us, you
can reach us anytime. Eight seven seven nine eight one
oh nine eight one. Some people send their brighter sides
with our iHeartRadio up that talk back Mike.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
That's totally acceptable as well.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
It is and a reminder that as we approach the
holidays coming up on Monday, The Breeze once again wants
to take the stress out of your holidays with complete
Thanksgiving dinners.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
This is an annual tradition of ours. It's brought to
you by Premiere One Credit Union and that's exactly what
we're trying to do, is by helping you out by
picking up the tab for your dinner. Yeah, one less
thing you have to think about this holiday season. We're
just trying to make things easier for you. We know
you have a lot going on. It all starts Monday
morning at six am. We do this every hour on
the hour through six pm, which means thirteen chances to

(12:19):
win every single day. Yeah, the winning starts Monday. Here
on the Breeze that is Madonna's.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
Seven twenty six.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Good Morning.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
It is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn in Court. Every
weekday morning at this time we bring you the more
you know. It is sponsored by the San Francisco Symphony.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
Sounds so good, it does.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
So there's a stat out there you see it circulated
all the time that thirty percent of people can smell
rain before it arrives.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
I am one of these people. I figured everybody did this.
That stat is hogwash. What do you mean the thirty percent?
Nobody knows where that came from. I think somebody made
it up.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Great, but it is true, true that people can't smell
rain before it arrives. Okay, so it's correct, but not
correct if that makes any sense, Okay, throw out the
thirty percent. The rest is true. According to science, they're
air indicators that allow people humans to smell rain before
it actually arrives. One of which is something called petrocore,

(13:19):
which is the earthy scent that's produced when rain drops
hit dry soil.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Absolutely. Oh I thought pavement, but yes, Okay.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Well there's another one. Plants put out oils they release
during dry periods that are trapped in the soil, and
so then when the rain starts to hit that, it
releases that up into the air and you start smelling that.
So that might be what you're smelling.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
Well, that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
You might also be smelling ozone because if there's lightning
associated with those rain clouds, then you're going to start
smelling that clean or bleachy smell that can be detected
ahead of a storm.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
I feel like the people that can smell rain, or
the same people that don't like cilantro, you know how
you have that gene. I feel like this is going
down that path you and you don't like cilantro, But
it's not you don't. You just don't like it because
most people that don't like cilantro think it tastes like soap.

Speaker 5 (14:08):
Oh, it tastes to me like get this out of
my mouth immediately. But you wouldn't describe that as soap, right, No, yeah,
you just don't like it. Just cross.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
But I wonder if anybody listening, if you can smell
rain or smell that rain is coming, do you also
not like cilantro. It's a scientific study of the morning breeze.
Somebody had to start.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
It might be like a like a correlation type study
and not really actually scientific in anything.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
This might be a double the more you know, we
may have uncovered something here.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
See I do I and I think everybody knows this.
When it rains, you can smell it. You can smell
the asphalt just smells different. This, but this is different.
This is smelling the approaching.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
I've rocked out the front door this morning. It was
not raining yet, and I put my closes in the
air like a golden Retriever, and I said, something's a
bruin here.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
See for me, it's my my I had surgery on
one of my phibias or tibia's one of my legs
when I was in high school. And my body aches
actually ahead of like a big storm. Oh okay, So
i wake up and I'm feeling that pain and I'm
just like, oh, there's a storm a ruin all right.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Well, we have people calling in right now who I
think are going to talk about Cilantro and being able
to smuggle the rains.

Speaker 5 (15:20):
We're going to go grab those calls. But that is
a good the more you know, there you go.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
We do it every weekday morning at this time at
seven twenty five. And give us a couple of minutes
coming up at seven forty this morning your next chance
to win those tickets for San Jose Broadways. A Beautiful
Noise the Neil Diamond Musical.

Speaker 5 (16:05):

Rogan's fairs absolutely love it so good.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Yeah, it's very meaningful right now.

Speaker 5 (16:13):
So yeah, yeah that too.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Well.

Congratulations. Who are you?

Speaker 3 (16:17):

from Brooklyn became a chartbusting, show stopping American rock icon.

Speaker 5 (16:40):
Thank you, so much.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
I really really appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
Tickets, by the way, are on sale now at Ticketmaster.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Yes, and we'll have another chance tomorrow morning, seven forty
Here on the Breeze celine Dion eight oh eight. It
is the morning Breeze on the Bays, number one for
relaxing favorites at work, ninety eight points when the Breeze,
it's Carolyn and Cory.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
All right, Carolyn, let's talk about this.

Speaker 5 (17:04):
I know exactly what you're about to call me out on.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
So this morning we were here in the studio preparing
for the show. This is before six am. We're just
kind of both working on our computers over here, and
Carolyn says to me, Hey, Court, what do you think
about this? There's this deal where you can get a
box of unused Reese's peanut butter cups unused?

Speaker 5 (17:26):
How is that?

Speaker 1 (17:26):
How did you pitch it to me? Do you? Okay?

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Here's the post? Okay, It showed up in my feed
on social media. It says, my daughter works at Reese's
and told me something most people don't know. Several times
a year they run special promotions to sell off seasonal merchandise.
Now my brain goes to Happy Halloween. Yeah, we're selling
there's a lot of extra pumpkins. It says, instead of
paying for extra storage, they send out large boxes of

(17:51):
Reese's candy. You just pay eleven dollars for shipping. So
there's this girl sitting at her dinner table and she
is surrounded by Reeses. And then this post says I
tried it myself. I answered a few short questions. A
few days later, a huge box appeared, so I said
to court, Oh. It also says they only do this
twice a year.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
The link is the sense of urgency is there, and
you're like, man, we should do this.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
You say to me, I said, this would make a
great social media bit because other people could benefit from this.
You send them eleven dollars for shipping. And look how
big that picture is at this box. And I say
to you, I said, I said, I don't. I don't
think that's real. That isn't I don't want to do that.
And you said, this is an exact quote.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
You wrote it down.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Yeah, it's only eleven dollars, you said to me.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
And I said, it is such a good deal.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
And I said sure, but you're typing in your credit
card information or your debit card into some random website,
which when you pulled it up, that's when it started
to look super good.

Speaker 5 (18:52):
I pulled it up.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
It says go here to claim your Reese's candy box.
It has a link. I went to click on it,
and court says, and I quote, this feels scammish.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Yes, that's exactly what I said. And so it was
because I did the smart thing as I stopped myself.
I stopped my passion for Reese's Peanut buttercups and it's tracks.
And I said, you know what, before we click on
this link, before I allow Carolyn to click on this link,
we should do some searching on the internet. See if
this is a scam. If you type in Reese's overstock Facebook,

(19:24):
just those three words a huge list of scammeler, scammeler, scambler, scambler,
don't click the button, don't click the button.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Well, you are correct, because my next move was to
go to the page and see how many followers this
person that was talking about it. Yeah, this isn't quotes.
Millie Thompson has four followers. So you saved the day,
court Man. I almost shared this on our Breeze page

(19:52):
to tip other people off how great this is. And
so just know if this shows up in your feet,
it's not's thing.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
It's not real, but it it does go to show
that if you you wonder how do people fall for
these scams? This is Carolyn is the prime of sand
she was she was pulling out your wallet to get
your credit card ready, it's only eleven.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Dollars, said, such a good deal. I can't believe I
almost got for it. And clearly I'm not alone because
people are calling right now. So apparently this is showing
up in a lot of feeds this morning. So just
you've been warned, there are other places for you to
go and get discounted Reese's peanut butter cups for eleven
dollars for that big box Wow, because that's not real.
That what it costs me a lot more than eleven bots. Yeah,

(20:33):
you probably would have had a big issue, right, You've
been warned. We're at eight seven seven nine eight one.
Send us a talk back with our iHeartRadio app anytime.
Just click that microphone button on our app to send
us that message and be sure to join us later
in the hour eight fifty as we go commercial free.
