Reo Speedwagon and it is six twenty The Morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Court. It's that time of the morning
when we play the Morning Breeze brain teas with you.
It is sponsored by My Council Plumbing. You're in clean
hands with My Council Plumbing. See them online at mc
plumbing dot com. I was going to say one for
(00:21):
the guys today, but anybody can play along in guests certainly,
but it is male focused.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
That's right. Today's question.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
The average mail buys four of these per month, all right.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Eight seven, seven, nine eight one nine eight one. First up,
Sue and pleasanton good morning. What is your guess?
Speaker 4 (00:39):
If they have an electric razer, that wouldn't be it.
But I was gonna say if they if they do
the hand raiser thing.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Oh like the manual, like the it's like a straight razor.
It's a cartridge raiser.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
Yes, that my husband had.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
There's that club on the internet that you can join.
Speaker 5 (00:55):
And it'll send it to you.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
I want to say it was about once a month
and would give him the resale cartridges for it.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Oh yeah, aren't you or weren't you in one of those.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
No, actually, I'm a bearded man.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
I don't I know, but you need to trim it.
You were at a beard club then it was something
like that. That was just that was actually just for
the the oils, the oils for you were getting a
razor too, You got.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Us electric for that?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, so was that the answer then?
Speaker 2 (01:26):
A razor? That's not the correct answer. Great guess though, sue.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Okay, Well, have a good day.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Alexa in Castro Valley. You've got to guess what what
do you think? The answer is?
Speaker 6 (01:35):
Energy drinks?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Oh my gosh, totally. Do you know a guy that
lives on energy drinks? I know I do.
Speaker 6 (01:41):
Yes, our custodian lives on energy drinks. I work at
an elementary school. So yeah, we love listening to the
radio for that, and he definitely does.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
That's so funny, it is. Yeah, Well, thank you for
having us on. First of all, Well, I don't know,
do you want to shout out what school you're out
after you just mentioned energy?
Speaker 6 (01:57):
I know, I'm not sure, but you know, Caster Valley
Unified School District. Great, and we love to listen to
you guys.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
We so appreciate that all right, Alexa, I'm gonna give
you points for creativity because I think everybody knows somebody
like this, right.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Oh, we all know that guy that lives off energy drinks.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
All I think if they're into energy drinks, they're drinking
like four or five a week, not just a month.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Oh no, I know a guy that does multiple a day.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah. So that's my way of saying, not the correct answer.
The answer is actually the average mail will buy four
frozen pizzas every month.
Speaker 6 (02:33):
Oh wow, Oh my gosh, that's not surprising either.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I know again, we all know that guy in our
lives that lives off frozen pizzas. There was a time
in my life I was that guy. I had a
feeling you might have.
Speaker 6 (02:49):
I know, fresh is better, got that cord, Yeah, I
got it.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, fresh is always better. All right, Alexa, thank you
again for listening to us at work, and thanks for
having the show on. Appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
Thank you. We appreciate listening to you guys. It's always great.
Have a good morning.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
The morning Breeze Brain Tease We do it every weekday
morning at six point twenty and always invite you to
join and play along and.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Coming up in just a few minutes at six point forty,
it's your chance to call into the show and ask
us anything anything on your mind.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Yeah, be thinking about those questions that you've always wanted
to ask, whether it's something about the show, what happens
behind the scenes, something in our lives, because you and
I are pretty darn and open about our personal lives,
like very open about it. Where it could be about
anything on your mind that you just want another opinion on.
We're at eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine
eight one. Ask us anything coming up next on the
(03:40):
Morning Breeze e.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Brees Peter Setra and share with the song you will
hear only here on ninety eight point one The Breeze.
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. Six thirty
nine is the time, and that means it's time for
ask us anything anything on your mind. We would love
to hear from you. Seven nine eight one. Also send
(04:03):
those questions using our talkback feature on our free iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Yeah, we've been getting some really great questions lately. Rebecca
and Hayward, good morning, ask us anything.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Where can I need perk?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Where can I need will perk? Be going out on
a tour of the bank.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, well I am as her publicist. I will say
that we have a lot of requests to meet my
dog Perk. Let me look, she is currently sleeping, so
when the Queen Awake awakens, I will ask her when
she will be free next to go out and meet
the public.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
I'm going to go out on a limb here, and
I think you probably agree with me. I think Perk
is the most popular, absolutely most popular part of the show.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
When I meet people, they're like, hey, how's Perk. People
that they don't want to know about you, they don't
care about me, They're like, how's Perk doing?
Speaker 2 (04:52):
That is the important question?
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Oh my god, you guys just made my take with
that one.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Well, we love talking you. Thank you for calling Rebecca.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
Thank you so much. You guys have a wonderful you too.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Okay, bye bye. I feel like we could be better.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
What do you mean that was?
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Do another one?
Speaker 2 (05:13):
When we say you can call in about anything.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I know and I love, I love trust me, I
love talking about my dogs. Oh sure, but do we
have any others we could do too?
Speaker 2 (05:22):
We did?
Speaker 3 (05:23):
In fact, our plan to ask us anything was a
direct message of DM. We got through Facebook from Jake,
who had a question you wanted to know. Hey, Carolyn
in court, have you ever broken any bones?
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Oh? Yeah, have you?
Speaker 2 (05:37):
I actually have never?
Speaker 4 (05:39):
What?
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I have never broken a bone in my body? You serious?
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Oh my gosh, I've broken my finger. Okay, my wrist.
I think that's it. Okay, but like multiple times you've
broken played basketball growing up?
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (05:57):
So yeah, I played football through high school. Oh have
you never were you the photographer on the team?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
No, Carolyn, I was.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
I was the captain my senior year the Greg Brady
Remember that Brady Bunch episode when Greg his mom wouldn't
let him play and then he was a photographer.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
I like that.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
How you know so much about the Brady Bunch for
being a person that doesn't watch a lot of television
just boggles my mind. No, I can't believe that I
skateboarded as a kid. I rode BMX bikes. I did
all the things that a young boy should do, and
I have yet to break a bone.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Then you probably don't remember when you were a kid
growing up. Back in the day, you felt so cool
if you broke a bone, because if you were quote
lucky enough to get a cast, you could have your
friends signed.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Everybody could sign your cast.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
You felt like a million bucks.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
I have never had my uh body.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I want to say that's too bad, but like also
good for you, right, I saw that you put this
question about breaking a bone on her Faceboo book page.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah. Well, I would love to.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Hear other people's stories because there's always question. There's always
a great story.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Behind that broken boat.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Who sent that in, Jake, Jake, Good job, Jake.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah, that's a good.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Question too, between Rebecca and Jake. Oh my gosh, Suzanne.
I just went to our Facebook page. Suzanne has her
X ray on our page of her broken what looks
like ankle? And boy is it broken?
Speaker 2 (07:21):
I love this.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
This is such a oh my gosh, there are so
many comments on that. We had that on the ready.
We've got a lot of broken bones on our audience.
Well this took a turn, and a fun one at that.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Join the conversation on our Facebook page at ninety eight one.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
In the Breeze, Yes and ask us anything. We do
it every weekday morning at six forty and as you
can tell, anything goes any question eight seven seven nine
eight one nine eight one back in a second, The
Breeze it's all an Ode seven to five on the
Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Corda, and it is time
for the Brighter Side.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
The Brighter Side is sponsored by Shrieving Company, Luxury time Pieces,
Fine Designers, and Flawless Diamonds. Brighterside is your chance to
call into the show and tell us about something good
and happy happening in your life. Eight seven seven, nine
eight one nine eight one is how you reach us.
Can also send us your brighter side using our talkback
feature on the free iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
It's Lucy in San Francisco this morning. So you were
telling us a minute ago that you had what you're
calling kind of a happy accident. What happened recently?
Speaker 5 (08:23):
I received a text message from a young woman who said, Hi, Lena,
how are you doing? Are you bringing a snacks today?
And I and I texted that just because I was curious.
I tested that and I said, this isn't Lena and
I would love to bring snacks right bring them?
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (08:47):
And so she kept it back and she goes, excuse me,
come on, Lena, you know where you're supposed to bring
the snack. And I took it back again and I
said no, no, no speeding. My name is Lucy, I
love San Francisco. There's no way I can, you know,
bring snaxt to a are you code of trio one?
So we went back and forth and we still text.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
You still text.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Yes, we become friends over yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Over text.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
What is the frequency of you're texting each other? How
often are you doing it?
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (09:20):
You know, maybe once or twice a week?
Speaker 1 (09:23):
So when you text her, I just looked this up.
Three on one area code is Maryland, so you now
have like a pen pal or a texting pal in Maryland. Like,
what do you guys talk about? Do you know about
each other's families? Are you to that point?
Speaker 5 (09:36):
Well? I said, you know, just so you know, you're
talking to a very very vinted Californian and so you
step back. He goes, oh my gosh. He goes, well,
you know, I'm twenty nine nights. So it's back and
forth like that, and I said, well, you know what,
this is kind of cute, So why don't we just
(09:56):
be friends?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
This is Camula's story. Yeah, you might ask me?
Speaker 5 (10:02):
Can I ask you a cooking question? So then it
was like, oh my god, you're like my grandma and
I I thought it was so cute, but you know why,
something just told me text a yeah, this person that
I didn't know who it was, but I didn't. It's
become a long friendship.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
That's pretty great, really cool. You hear about these stories
from time to time for people that meet randomly and
they end up becoming pen pals for years, mailing cards
back and forth or letters. This is another example of that.
It's just over text. Lucy, your story is so great.
Thank you for sharing, and thank you for listening.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
Oh every day, every day.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
That's so appreciated. Thank you have a wonderful day you too.
Thanks by story that was Oh yeah, that was crazy.
All right, If you've got a brighter side for us
eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one and.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
Coming up this morning at eight fifty, as you begin
your workday or whatever you've got going on today, let's

Speaker 1 (11:02):
We do it every weekday morning to start out your workday.
We also do it in the afternoon to wind down
your day at three fifty commercial free for ninety eight
minutes starting at eight to fifty this morning on the Breeze.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
It's music from Berlin at seven twenty five here on
ninety eight point one The Breeze, The Morning Breeze with
Carolyn and Corden. The other day you described this next
segment Carolyn as your chance to get to I think
you call it nugget sized knowledge morsels.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Sounds about right, bite size bit information nuggets. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
I'm more of like a chicken strip kind of a guy.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
I know you like your tends.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
I sure do. Either way, you're about to learn something.
It's the more, you know. Sponsored by the San Francisco Symphony.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
So I have been drinking more soda lately, Okay. I
had put myself on a soda band. For many, many years,
We're talking ten or fifteen years, I didn't have any soda.
It's a slippery slope. It's good.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
I like my Coke zero, and I know you do too,
I sure do. I mean, when you're eating a hamburger.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Oh stop it already.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
You've got to have a coke.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
You have to.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
It's like you have to water in a burger.
Speaker 7 (12:14):
Right.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Yeah. Anyway, So yesterday I'm I'm going through Instagram and
I follow People magazine, and up came this thumbnail from
People Magazine with a headline of drinking soda.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Oh, yeah, I know what you're talking about here.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Did you see this? Yes, So they say that new
research has found that drinking less than a can of
soda a day increases your risk of developing metabolic dysfunction
associated liver disease, also known as non alcoholic fatty liver
disease batty liver disease. They're saying even less than a can.
A can they're considering as eight ounces, by the way,
(12:54):
so less than eight ounces a day. Sugar sweetened beverages
increase the risk by fifty percent. Artificially sweetened beverages increase
that risk by sixty percent. I think that's where we
find our diet cokes and yeah, coke zeros.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
So that basically the study is saying it doesn't matter
matter if it's sugary soda, the regular stuff, or the diet.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
It's all bad.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
It all contributes, according to this one study, to this
fatty liver disease.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Yeah, and so there have been studies that have come
out that, of course have said, so does not that
bad for you? And this is like debunking that basically,
And I started thinking, So I have been drinking one,
I drink one bottle of cherry coke zero a week.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Are what are we talking about? Are you talking like
a two lear bottle? Are you talking no, like a
twenty ounce bottle? I guess twenty ounce? Okay, divide that
by like, let's say five. That's four ounces a day.
That's a half of a can. I feel like maybe
that's why I feel like I've been putting all light
and I feel like I'm like, what, I'm serious?
Speaker 2 (13:57):
I just can I can sense the concern in your voice,
and you're worried about this. It's just the amount.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Its top It's like my cigarette.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
You are splitting a twenty ounce bottle of soda over
seven days.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
I think this is why I'm inflamed. No, I think
I think it court it's it's in the article. It
causes inflammation too.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
I know many people who go through like a six pack,
if not more, of like diet coca coke every single
day now, and some of those people are fin We'll
do thirty two ounces here in a couple of times
during the day, So I think you're on the low
end of like people who should be concerned by this.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
But we should point out this is a this is
a new study.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
It's one study, I know, but I just there's going
to be a study in like six months that says, now,
this isn't true.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
You're all right, diet Wait, no coke zero cherry coke
is my cigy oh, it is my daily cigarette. I
go home and I hit that bottle. Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
It's a nice little, nice little treat for you.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Yeah, but it's got it's got to stop. So anyway,
all that to say, like I read this article yesterday.
We were talking about about it off the air today,
and we thought it was important enough to bring up
because I know there's a lot of people that like
Sosa and our audience do rightfully.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
So that's true. Do your own research, maybe talk to
your doctor about it. And you know what, don't feel
you shouldn't feel bad.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Do you think we helped anybody. I feel like we
might have made it worse.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
I have no idea because I feel like I'm like
I enjoy science, I believe in science, but I don't
know if I believe in this research.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Really, I hope you're wrong, Like I hope this study
is wrong.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
When you're eating a cheeseburger, it you gotta have that coat.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
We do have to have that coke? All right. We
do this every weekday morning at this time seven twenty five.
The more you know it is a little dose of
information that we try and share with you. Did we
make your day worse? Maybe we may have, and we're
sorry about that, but yeah, we enjoy doing this every
weekday morning. I always learn from these segments, like when
you do you know what you know?
Speaker 2 (15:56):
The more you know, Yeah, I actually learned something.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
You could if I pay attention. Mumping my fist over here,
we're at eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine
eight one. That is how you reach us. Anytime. You
can send us a message with our iHeartRadio up that
talkback mic as well.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
We love to get those talkbacks.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
So please, if you're streaming the Breeze, look for the
red microphone button, click it, leave your message. We'll get
it here in the studio.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
It's TLC and scrub no scrubs. Is it my first day?
It's scrubs.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
I think if you had just said it's scrubs, I
would have went with it.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
All right, it's no scrubs Morning Breeze, Carolyn and Cord.
It is eight oh seven, So every weekday morning at seven,
twenty five, we do a segment called The More You Know,
and we bring you a fact or a piece of
information that we have found interesting and we think and
hope that you will find it interesting as well.
Speaker 7 (16:45):
Well.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
This morning, we were talking about this article that I
saw yesterday on People Magazine's Instagram account that was talking
about soda and the fact that drinking less than one
can a day increases your risk of it's called MASLD,
formerly known as non alcoholic fatty.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Fety liver diseases. Most people will know. Yeah, so when
when it comes to when it comes to scientifific research,
I mean People Magazine, they are my go to that
the place to go I go to.
Speaker 7 (17:18):
No.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
I stumbled upon this because the reason that I brought
it to the show is that I, I don't know
about you. I'm talking to people listening, but I have
been drinking a bottle of soda a week, like a
twenty ounce bottle, and I feel bad about that. I
read this now and see like drinking less than eight
ounces a day could be bad. Well, that's kind of
(17:39):
what I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
You're doing, you're doing about two and a half ounces
a day if you're splitting a twenty ouny three or four.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Okay, yeah, but still I feel like you're concerned it
adds up. And so they're saying sugar sweetened beverages increase
the risk by fifty percent, artificially sweetened bump it by
sixty percent. We're talking diet, coke, coke zero in those cases,
which I at coke zero. I know you do as
well for it. So we brought this up and then
(18:05):
we received this talk back on our iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Hi.
Speaker 7 (18:09):
It's Elsie from Pleasant Hill. You did not make my
day worse with that piece of information. What you did
was make me a little bit more curious about the
study and understand what the ingredients are exactly that make
it contribute to fatty liver disease versus any other drink
(18:30):
or sports drink that has zero sugar or zero calories.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Yeah. I mean that's a good question because you look
at like a Gatorade or one of those drinks and
they're loaded with sugar. But what is it in the
coke or the coke zero, or the pepsi or the diet.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Well, that's because that's one of the big things is
you know, obviously everything in moderation, like We've been hearing
for years that we probably shouldn't be drinking as much
soda as we should, which is why here in California
we have a soda tax. Like there's an additional text
on on those sodas. But if you think about it,
there's just as much sugar in orange juice as you're
(19:08):
getting in that there's something in soda though, so there's
it's something out that's something besides sugar.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Soda is so bad. So anyway, we wanted to bring
this up just because it is important. But when she's saying, like,
what are the ingredients, I don't know. I mean my
as we mentioned a couple of seconds ago, our go
to on this and our source is People Magazine, So
take take it for what it's worth. But I do
believe that this is an important study and it's a
(19:34):
good reminder that soda is so bad for you.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
And I saw it reported on like CNN and more
reputable news sources, so it's not just People Magazine that
are talking about this. But as we mentioned earlier, I
think we should encourage people do your own research on this.
Speaker 5 (19:48):
For sure.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Find the source article for this. I'm sure it was
published and published in some journal medical journals.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
People, so you feel like I mean, and maybe maybe
talk to you, yeah yeah, yeah yeah. But they are
saying that soda is contributing to fatty liver disease. So
now you know. Good morning, have a great day.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Hey, we bring you the good stuff.
Speaker 7 (20:10):
All right.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
