Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze, The Morning Breeze on demand, Juey Lewis
and the news here on ninety eight point one The Breeze.
It's Carolyn and Court and the Morning Breeze. Six nineteen
is a time. And you know a lot of people
wake up in the morning. May may stretch to wake
themselves up. Some people take a cold shower, Oh yeah,
lots of rituals. Other people journal in the morning, get

(00:22):
the brain moving.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Never thought about that.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
We here at the Morning Breeze like to do something
called the Morning Breeze Brain teas.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yes, we are helping you wake up this morning.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Exactly what we're doing.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
That's nogging going.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Are we overselling it a little bit? All right? It's
sponsored by Mike Council Plumbing. You're in clean hands with
Mike Cancel Plumbing. Visit them at mc plumbing dot com.
Today's question, nearly twenty five percent of people insist they've
never had this beverage. You guessed coffee I did. I
left you on the edge of your seat.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Yeah, a cliffhanger. Nothing, not that I thought when you
paused this morning. You kind of pause on all my guesses,
But I sure thought this morning maybe I had it,
but then I thought, then we won't be able to
play it. We'd be like, hey, morning, Berry's brain teas.
We do it every weekday morning at six twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
So the game goes on.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
All right, we're in eight seven seven nine, eight one
oh nine eight one, Eloisa and San Mateo standing by.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Hi, what do you think the answer is?

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Well, if he's for me, I'm gonna say alcohol.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Alcohol.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I had alcohol. My mom hasn't either, She's never had
a drop in her life.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Really Nope, I.

Speaker 5 (01:24):
Don't like alcohol, so I never have tried it.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah, so were you?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
So to me, that's it, And I could see that
being the answer because twenty five percent of people, that's
not like that big of the number.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
So I could see you mentioned your mom, both of
my parents neither way.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Really.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
From your parents.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
That's really wonderful, really great guess, but it's not the
answer we're looking for today.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Thank you so much, nice talking to you. You have
a wonderful.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Today, you too too, bye? Ye all right, Jony in
San Ramon, what do you think the answer is?

Speaker 5 (01:57):
I don't want to say wine, but oh hell, I
love my wine.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
So you're saying wine, but you're not part of the
twenty five percent.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
Well, hell no, I have to have. I worked for
a law room. I have to have an evening cocktail
every nine and it's not a tiny one, so I
put it in a big bit.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Jony, are you one of those people that was gifted
at one point the big wine glass that is like
one glass, but it holds the whole bottle.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Actually no, I just have a big plastic cup that
I filled up. And then it was if I have wine,
I throw in fresh watermelon, strawberries, any kind of fruits,
and then I pour over the cutter home white then
over it.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
It's like a.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Little like a sea.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, you're doing a little thing.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
That's a big tup, I said, But there's there's fruit
in it, and.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Wow, sounds delicious. However, not the correct answer today.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
All right, Jony, have a good day. You got you too,
of court? What is the answer to this one?

Speaker 1 (02:56):
So we had the alcohol, we had wine. You guessed coffee.
You were actually closest, Carolyn. I'll tell you that now. Okay,
corec Dancer is hot chocolate.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Hot chocolate.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
People insist they have never had hot chocolate in their life.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Have they all skipped the month of December?

Speaker 1 (03:15):
I know, what do you? They did not have happy childhood?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Were you not a kid at one point? Did you
not grow up on a swim team? I guess I
get it.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Not everybody's into chocolate for sure, for sure, so we're
just kidding. But I wouldn't. But I wouldn't guess twenty
five percent. I would know that's a much bigger than
I were. Like, it feels like more like a ten
percent type thing.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, me too.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Whoa do you have? In addition? Did you like to
throw additional things into hot chocolate?

Speaker 3 (03:41):
I like the marshmallows because when they melt and then
they get into a like a marshmallow chunk.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Sure, that's a good way to put it. Then you
just eat the whole thing. How about you?

Speaker 1 (03:50):
I like peppermint choco.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I've done that too, so good.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Like you can take a candy cane and swirl it around.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I know you can.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
But have you ever looked at I'm gonna yuck your
you as you say, have you ever looked at the
sugar in hot chocolate when you have it and then
you're throwing a candy cane in there?

Speaker 1 (04:06):
That's the joy of hot chocolate.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
All right, Happy holidays, everybody, Here you go. It's the
Morning Breeze brain Teas.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
We do play every weekday morning at six point twenty
here on the Breeze. You can reach us at eight seven, seven, nine,

Speaker 1 (04:26):
And a reminder to stick around because later in the
show eight fifty, to be precise, that's when we start
ninety eight minutes of NonStop, commercial, free, relaxing favorites, and
we would love for you to join us. So be
here eight fifty on the Morning Breeze and Birthrees.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
I used to drive around in my nineteen eighty one
Mazda GLC blasting that song cou Is Set single and
I felt so cool. It's Phil Collins Morning Breeze, Carolyn
and Cord. It is six forty two and it is
time for the more you know so traveling abroad. If

(05:04):
you've never done it, it's a I don't know. It's
one of the greatest things I think you can do.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Yeah, But a new survey found that one third of
us specifically will not travel abroad, at least to a
country where they don't speak English. That is the reason
why many Americans will not travel abroad.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
That is so funny that you bring that up.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
My brother currently is in Austria with his girlfriend, and
in the beginning of the trip they were sending us
all these pictures are having a great time. Yesterday I
got a text from him on the group right thread
and he said, I am so sick of using Google translates.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Oh, but at least he's trying to He's trying language.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
But imagine like you're in another country, you don't speak
their language, and you're there for an extended period of time,
and you're you're picking up on words, but you're not
picking up on everything. You're not fluent. So that's just funny.
Time on that I could see that being the case.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
I would have.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Expected it to be like a quarter of people tops
of not a third. It learns a lot more than
I thought.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Thirty three percent of Americans say they deliberately avoid travel
destinations where they can't speak English specifically, and it's one
particular part of the world. China, Japan, and South Korea
top the list as the most intimidating countries for American travelers.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
That would be so tough. Yeah, it would be so tough.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
The biggest thing I've learned, though, is if you can
learn just a couple of the starting phrases, how to
say hello, how are you? Where's the bathroom, and you
show that you're attempting to speak some of the language.
Most places, especially in the travel industry, these people they'll
be like, hey, I speak English and they'll help.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah, not always the case, but tends to be that way.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I think that people in other countries, like we do here,
you appreciate when somebody like you said, when they when
they make the effort. We went to Italy, this is
so many years ago, and we traveled with somebody who
speaks fluid Italian. Yeah, what a difference that makes. Oh sure,
I can't imagine the trip that we did with some

(07:09):
without anybody there, any Italian, That would have been a
completely different trip, because your focus almost ninety nine percent
of the time has to be on do.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
They call those people? Call those people fixers?

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (07:20):
People like when you go into an area, you've got
somebody that's kind of a local contact that speaks the language. Oh,
I can give you all the insights. It's like the
biggest has It's like a travel guide, so to speak.
It was locals, it was it was awesome.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Yeah, very good.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Learn some phrases, don't be intimidated, and get out there
and see the world.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yeah, change that number, all right, We're at eight seven
seven nine eight one nine eight one. The more you know,
you learn something every morning at this time at six
forty and.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Coming up this morning at eight fifty ninety eight minutes
of NonStop commercial, free, relaxing favorites. It's probably the perfect
way to start your work day. Absolutely, Court, we will
do that right at eight for you. Here on the Breeze,
it's hell on oates at seven five here on ninety
eight point one the Breeze. You've got the Morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Court and it's time now for the

(08:09):
Brighter Side, sponsored by Shriven Company, Luxury time Pieces, fine
Designers and Flawless Diamonds. The Brighter Side is all about
the things in life that bring a smile to your face.
And that's definitely what's going on here. Because when I
heard this story Carolyn for the first time, I was
just happy. For the rest of the day.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
This is the best story. So this is out of Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
There is a cross country team running team at a
high school in Minnesota, and they, of course across country
you run long distances, and so they're doing this router.
They're supposed to be doing this route every day as
a group, and the coach noticed that they've been deviating
off this route and it's been going on for a minutes.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
So he followed them one day.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah, and he saw his runners stopping at a house right,
and he's like, why are they stopping at a house? Well,
it turns out there's a woman named Sandy Bass who
lives at this house in Minnesota along this route that
the runners have been taking. What happened is a while
ago one of the kids in the high school had
to use the restaurant right as they were out the
cross country run. Yeah, so they stopped at this house

(09:11):
and Sandy Bass, who owns the house, was.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Like, come on in, of course, you can use my restroom. Oh,
I see you're running. Can I offer you a popsicle?

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (09:19):
And the runner, of course this high school kids like,
who's going to pass on a popsicle?

Speaker 2 (09:22):
A break and a popsicle?

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Yes, please? Well then it became a thing. Of course,
that kid told their fellow runners on the cross country team,
and now all these kids are running this different route
and stopping at this one house. So the coach, his
name is John Brunts, he followed them one day and
he's like, what's going on at this house?

Speaker 6 (09:42):
For a long time, I didn't know exactly what was
going on. One of the days, I was with one
of the groups and all of a sudden, she's calling
them up for popsicles and they're like, oh, and they
were kind of worried that they're going to get in
trouble and like, no, this is awesome, that's great.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
So what's funny is Sandy again, the woman who owns
the house, She's been going to the grocery store now
for years and buying all these popsicles.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Yeah, I think it's been ten years.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Yes, in bulk.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
When I go through the check out, they just say
do you like popsicles? And I said, yeap, I said,
I have a lot of kids.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
I love it.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
I know.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
It's such a great story. And she knows all of
their names. That's the great thing. When there's a video
of this that we're going to post on our Facebook page. Yeah,
she knows everybody by name.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
And you know what they call her, not Sandy Bass,
popsicle lady, Opsicle lady, which is she loves it. It's so,
it's so great, such a great story. So that is
our Brighter's Side for today. And if you have a
story that makes you equally happy or brings a smile
to your face, we want to hear from you with
your Brighter's Side eight seven seven nine eight one oh
nine eight one.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
And coming up this morning at seven twenty five, it's
ask Us Anything. It's your chance to call into the
show and ask anything that might be on your mind.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yes, you can send us those questions via our iHeartRadio
app with that talkback microphone. We have a lot of
people that do that in our audience. Are certain call

eight one. The Cars and Drive at seven twenty four.
Good morning, it's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
It is time for ask Us Anything and the Cars

(11:14):
and Drive. If you remember Court last week, Yeah, on
ask Us Anything, we had somebody call and ask what
are your favorite songs on the Breeze and that was yours.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
That's in my I'd say it's in my top three.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
I heard it last night on the breeze coming home
from the baseball game, and I thought of you, Oh,
thank you.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
You're welcome.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Court.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Good morning, ask us anything.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
I have a great question for you in Court. All right,
what's your favorite sitcom from the sixties?

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Favorite sitcom from the sixties.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
I don't know any sitcoms from the sixties.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
I bet you do.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
The Andy Griffith Show. Was that in the sixties, Yeah,
so that's in there. I think I Love Lucy, believe
it or not, was the early sixties.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
I haven't seen either of those shows.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
No, I Love Lucy was in the fifties.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Fifties, Okay, so that I Love Lucy's out. You've never
seen the Andy Griffith Show.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
I mean, I know the characters Andy and Opie. I
think right there, you got their names. And then what
was the other one you mentioned, Court, I know it,
but I've never seen it. Was Give me another one. Court,
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Let's see.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
We'll find one I've seen.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
I love Jeanie.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Uh reading of Jeanie.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
I dream of Geenie. Oh, I dream of in the sixties.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Never seen that.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Oh my gosh, Bill, thank you for making me feel
so young on this ask us anything there's bewitched? You
never seen be witched? Yes, Bill, please, mister Ed, Mister Ed, you've.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Never seen it.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Horse is a horse, of course, of course, and no
one can talked to a horse, of course, a famous
mister Ed. There you go, Bill, there's other The Adams
Families was in the sixties, Hogan's Heroes. Yeah, Omer Pile
never seen it. Oh, that's a classic right there. The
name of the show or.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Omer Pile USMC. It's when Gomer Pile of the Andy
Griffith Show joins the Marines. And it is awesome. Bill,
Am I right?

Speaker 4 (13:13):
You are right, And I let you know that I'm
listening to you guys every morning and you make me
want to get up from bed and have breakfast. I mean,
you put me in a good new blead.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Ah.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
That is so nice for you to say. What a
nice compliment. Bill, Thank you. That was a great ask
us anything great question? And that's how this works. Any
question that might be on your mind, might be a
question that you regularly ask your friends and family.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Yeah, call in and ask us.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I also think I have some sixties television to get
caught up on because I feel super out of the loop.
Pile all that you've got an entire decade Barro older
than you are. How do you know all those shows?
I don't watch a lot of television as a young boy.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yeah, that kind of blew my mind.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
And coming up Friday morning on the show, we want
to remind you we are looking for your nominations for
our next Morning Breeze Person of the Week. Who is
that person in your life that's always doing good things
for others?

Speaker 6 (14:01):

your children's school. All sorts of people qualify for this.

one the Breeze dot Com. It's our Morning Breeze Person
of the Week.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Music from the Backstreet Boys at eight eight Here on
ninety eight point one The Breeze. It's the Morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Cordon. Let us begin by first congratulating
Carolyn for going to a party.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
I am bowing as we speak. I know, I got
out of the house. I went to a party. It
was actually a two year old's birthday party. We talked
about it on the air last week.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Yeah you did.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
And here's what I was nervous about. It's a two
year old's birthday party. So the parents of two year
olds are in their twenties and early thirties.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
People are having kids at older eight. Just so, I
think you've got twenty year old thirty year olds that
are having kids that Ay.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
It's hard for me to tell now who's one age.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
I don't even want to guess anymore.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Let's just say I knew walking into this party it
wasn't going to be people my age. Sure so I
and I didn't know anybody except for the people throwing
the party. Right, So I went to the party, and
I walked in and sure enough, it's people that are
younger than I am. But then I spotted a woman
who was older, who had gray hair, who was sitting

(15:29):
and chatting with somebody and I looked at her and
I thought to myself, there's my person to now there's
my person. Turns out she's the mom of the dad
who was throwing the party, so she was the grandmother
of the two year old, and she and I hit
it off and we chatted and I realized, oh my gosh,

(15:52):
I'm now the person at a party that relates to
the people that are older versus the youngest.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Right what it felt great? I accepted it. I worked
through it, and I was like, she was great.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
If you can't find that person yourself, like, maybe you're
at the stage where you think you're younger than you
actually are. Yes, here's here's what happens at those parties.
Is you get introduced there, they're like, hey, I really
wanted you to meet my parents over here.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
When that line is said, you know, go hang out
with them.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Yes, here's another line that was that you'll relate to.
I was talking to this woman and I caught myself
a couple of times saying, yeah, kids, these days, they're
just and I went, oh, man, when did this happen?

Speaker 1 (16:36):
It's been happening for some time.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Caroline sure has, and again I'm okay with it.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
We're at eight seven seven, nine, nine eight one. Send
us a message with our iHeartRadio app that talked back
Mike any time. We love getting your messages on our app.
We do, and be sure to join us at eight
fifty this morning as we go commercial free. Ninety eight
minutes of NonStop, commercial free, relaxing favorites coming your way.
