Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze, Morning Breeze on Demand, Gloria A. Stefan
and the Miami Sound Machine. It is six oh seven.
It is September twenty fourth.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
When I was a kid, I thought, sorry to interrupt you,
I just want to When I was a kid, I
thought that Gloria was literally playing with a machine.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Like it was her and a machine on the stage.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Oh, and the Miami Sound Machine. So you thought it
was some sort of machine that she played. So the
first you're saying.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
First time I saw her live on television, I was like,
wait a minute, where's the machine.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
It's a band.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
It's like a glorious stephan in the banjo or the
synthesizer or it was just it was like, pretty fine,
that was a sound machine.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
That's pretty about the music behind her. Anyway, you were
saying today is September twenty fourth.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
You say is September twenty fourth, also known as the
day after court Johnson's birth.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yes, thank good. By the way, a big thank you
to everybody who reached out. I got a lot of
people reached out to me for your Facebook and whatnot,
so I'm trying to individually replied all those, but just
a general coverage of a thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Yes, everybody was so nice and I'm glad you had
a good birthday. And now only you know, three hundred
and sixty four more days yep, till the next one.
But good morning to you. I hope your day is
off to a good star. With Bay Bridge slow this morning,
coming across a span, Oh my gosh, So what's happening
on the bridge? If you're coming into the city. You
can expect some delays because Caltrans was doing overnight road work,
(01:21):
which they're doing every day this week, but they are
doing the work until six am, so they've got the
eighty one oh one split closed down to one lane.
So imagine all these people coming off the bridge funneling
down to one lane.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
They probably just open it just a minute ago, but
it doesn't mean that those backups don't remain.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
This was scheduled, right people.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, which is interesting because we have a coworker who
comes in just a little earlier than the rest of
us and he had no issues.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
There was no so they must have started it late.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
No, it's because people leave later and later, and so
it just kind of it's a build up.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Right, So I went through it and didn't notice it
because he's like, I don't know what everybody's got is.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I got in yesterday early, yeah, earlier than I usually do,
had no problem. But today I came in at my
normal time, totally back down. So that's the difference, And
that's what they're saying is like, you leave later, it's
gonna be a bigger backup, So pack your patients. We're
at eight seven, seven, nine, eight, one oh nine, eight one.
Coming up this morning on the show eight oh five,
(02:21):
ten oh five, and four oh five. Every day this
week your chance to win tickets to California's Great America
to go experience october Fest. They do a great job
at the park with that, and also we've got the
Morning Breeze brain Teas coming up in six twenty five.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
A recent study found that forty one percent of gen
Z and millennials research this before they accept a job.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
You know, you told me this question off the air,
and I was thinking about it, and I thought, could
it be that they researched you know, it's got to
be something random because you wrote this question.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Okay, I'm not sure what that means.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
So it's like you're trying to trick us so I'm
gonna go with do they research like where their boss
lives so they can come in and be relatable like,
oh yeah, I love San Mateo County, I have friends there.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Or that's pretty good guess, but not the right answer.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Not the right answer, okay eight seven seven nine oh
nine eight one. If you think you know the answer,
we know what it's not and the correct answer coming up.
Six twenty five A birrees Bonnie Tyler, six twenty six.
It is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. And
you know by now that every weekday morning at six
twenty five ish we bring you the Morning Breeze Brain Teas,
(03:32):
which I love Court how much our listeners have as
much fun with this as we do for sure?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
By the way, Morning Breeze Brain Teas brought to you
by the San Francisco Symphony. Discover the fun and inspiration
of live music. Find a concert at Sfsymphony dot com.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
All right, what is this morning's question? One more time?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
A recent study found that forty one percent of gen
Z and millennials researched this before they accepted a job offer.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.
That is how you reach us. You can always guess
with our iHeartRadio app send us a message, but we're
going to go to Pleasanton to Mary, what do you think?
Speaker 4 (04:07):
The answer is how much vacation or sick time?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
That's the top of my list it is. I want
to know that how much time do I not have
to be here?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Good to know, Court, and thank you.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Yes, I would like to know for any job, like
how much rotation and sick time I've always I mean
that's a huge thing. You know, what benefit pack did
you get before you before you sign on?
Speaker 1 (04:28):
For sure?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Definitely something you need to know, but not the correct
answer here. Thanks for calling in this morning. Mary.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Yes, I listen to you guys. I love your guys
just spirit in the mornings, and I love the music
and I need something calm when I'm heading to work.
I love the low songs and stuff, and I just
like your guys personalities. You work well together. Oh that's
nice you want to say that.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Yeah, thank you?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
All right, Mary, have a good day, and Court, I
have not forgotten about your earlier comment about wanting as
much vacation as possible. Well, I just want to know
how much vacation I am going to have all right,
it's Ken in Pleasant Hill.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
What's your guess how much money they're going to get
money in the benefits?
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yeah, because you might be going to worse for better.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
I would assume that's taking place as they're researching these jobs.
At least I would hope.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
That they are.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
I feel like jobs also now need to post the salary.
Isn't that a new thing?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
It is definitely in California, it is. It's not country wide.
Here's the answer, though. Forty one percent of gen z
and millennials say they researched the zodiac sign of their boss,
their potential boss, or coworkers before they.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Accept the offer, like find out what their sign is? Yes,
of gen z and millennials.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Can would you ever do that?
Speaker 4 (05:42):
No? That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I think that makes one two, that makes three of us.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Yeah, yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Come on, you're not going to hire.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
On because your boss is a Gemini? Sorry Gemnis. That
was a toilet random grab.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
What's your sign? By the way, Ken, I'm a Gemini?
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Okay, the odds. I would work for you any day.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
I'm easy here all right, Well, have a good day.
Thank you for calling you too.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
Okay, bye, it is the.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Morning Breeze brain Tease, and we do it every weekday
morning here at six twenty five.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
And coming up later in the show eight oh five,
to be precise, we've got something great for you four
tickets to California.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Is Great America.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Not only is Great America just playing fun on any
day of the week, but when they throw Octoberfest into
the mix, we're taking it to another level.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Oh yeah, we're talking authentic German food, beverages. We know
what that's about, music and family friendly entertainment. Get those
tickets at eight oh five here on the Morning Breeze.
Tina Turner at six forty three, You've got the Morning
Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
I had a lovely experience yesterday that I wanted to
share with you, okay and our listeners. So my mom,
as I've talked about before on the show, she has
moderate dementia, and so she is living in assisted living
now and when it comes to going to any appointment
or anything, obviously I drive her and I take her
to her appointments. Sure, So the other day she reached
out and said, my part of my tooth fell on
(07:09):
the ground, which is code for she chipped a tooth.
Long story short, we go to the dentist yesterday. Now,
before we went to the appointment, I called our dentist
and I said, Hey, I just want to let you
guys know my mom's dementia has advanced and it's moderate
dimension now dimension now, So please let everybody know that's
going to be working with us, that this is the situation.
(07:29):
They said, no problem. So we go to the dentist yesterday.
They could not have been nicer. It's doctor McCormick and
Conquered and their office was so wonderful and so like
gentle with my mom. It was the nicest experience. So
it turns out she had a filling that had kind
(07:49):
of fallen out, so he just had to like shave
her tooth down a little because it was a little
bit rough.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
So when it's time to go, I take my mom
out to the car because we have to pay, and
I just had it like she was talking to random
people and saying random things. Had to get her out
of there. Yeah, sure, love, Yeah, off we go, Mom.
So I put her in the car with perk and
then I went back in to pay the bill. When
I went in to pay the bill, the girl named Kathy,
who was the tech that had been working with us
(08:17):
or the hygienist. She came out and she said, I
just want you to know you're doing a really great job.
Isn't that nice? And she was so young, and I thought,
I can't imagine Kathy's going through this, you know, she
just it was just an observation on her part. And
it just goes to show you how saying one thing
that is so simple could mean so much for someone else.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
I think you calling them and giving them the head
up is so appreciated by them because then they know
what's what they're dealing with, bat they can make sure
the right people are there. Maybe some people are better
at certain things than others, yes, and then also know, yeah,
this person is struggling right now. Yeah, so they can
be a little more attentive and know what to say.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I think for anybody, just kind of a word to
the wiser, just a tip if you're going through this
with your loved one or you're just starting out and
it's kind of the wild West because you don't know
what you don't know and you learn along the way.
That is definitely something I would say anytime you get
a chance to give someone a heads up you're bringing
your loved one to like it helps a lot, helps
them and it helps you as well.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
So I think anyway, I think.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
In general people, I think all of us need to
do this. Where you see somebody struggling or there's somebody's
being difficult with you, maybe yeah, take that step back
and just say, look, I don't know all the information
right now. This person might be going through something, they
might have a sickness or whatever. Yeah, and put it
through that filter and it'll instantly change your behavior how
you treat them totally. But by giving them the heads up,
(09:43):
obviously was what helped out yesterday and was appreciated by them.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
I know, everybody in the office was so nice. You
could tell that everybody knew, like coming in, they're coming in,
the mc cardinals are coming in. But yeah, doctor McCormick's
office and Conquer just wonderful people and we've been you know,
going to them for a long time.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
So thank you.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
We're at eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one.
We've got commercial free music coming up for you in
the show this morning, as we do every weekday morning
at eight fifty.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, that means ninety eight minutes of NonStop commercial, free
relaxing favorites to help you start your workday. So be
here eight fifty on the Morning Breeze. It's Madonna at
seven eight here on the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and
Court and time now for the Brider Side. It's your
daily dose of positive things. Yes, what's happening good in
your world? We want to hear about it. Eight seven
seven nine eight one nine eight one The Brighter Side
(10:32):
sponsored by Shrevening Company, Luxury time Pieces, Fine Designers and
Flawless Diamonds.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
We were talking a few minutes ago on the show
about an experience I had yesterday, as it's no secret
my mom has moderate dementia and so it makes things
a little challenging when we go into public. Yesterday we
had to go to the dentist, and I called the
dentist ahead of time and just kind of gave him
a heads up, like, hey, my mom now has moderate dementia,
(10:56):
and you know, I'll be there as her kind of translator.
And when I was leaving the appointment and my mom
was in the car already, I was by myself. The
hygienus named Kathy, who was working with us, said, I
just want you to know you're doing a really great job.
And that was such a wonderful moment in my day
and such a like just what a kind human being.
She didn't have to say that, but it's just those
(11:17):
little things that can really make a difference in your day,
and so I appreciate that so much. So we have
Becky who listens and conquered. Hi, you wanted to call
about what we were talking about with my mom.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
I just heard you talking about your mother, and I
wanted to add I have mobility issues now, and everywhere
I go, somebody offers to help me, whether I need
it or not. Complete strange. It's just amazing and sometimes
I like I was at the bank last week. The
person sitting next to me, I don't know them, but
they stayed in their car until they saw that I
(11:51):
was in my car.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
I mean, people are just amazingly nice.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Do you find that the people that offered a help
or to keep an eye out for you just random strangers?
They typically older people are the younger or is it
a mix of both.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
I say a mix of both. That's good, but mostly
middle age. I would say, you know, it can't help it.
It's one of those things that comes with age, so
you just accept it.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
But I think that's hard too, Like when you get
older to learn to accept the help. That's got to
be a weird kind of moment in your life. And
then you get to a point where you just go,
you know what, Okay, I'll take that help.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Could you talk to my dad about this. We're always
trying to tell my dad. Just dad slowed down, We'll
take care of this. You don't need to do this anymore.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
But he thinks he's right.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Well, you want to, you know, keep your independence. I'm
in fact i bottom mobility scooter, so I could keep
my independence.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Which is important, but you know, it's also important to
know your limitations.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
Right Anyway, I just wanted to say people are nice.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Yeah they are.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
And I'm so glad to hear that you are confirming
that that that's happening in the world, and obviously happened
to me yesterday as well. So we've got a couple
of great examples there, right, Becky, thanks so much for
calling in this morning.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Yeah, we really appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
Okay, I listen every morning when I get dressed.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Thank you all.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Right, have a good day, okay, thanks if you have
a brighter side for us eight seven seven nine eight one,
nine eight one.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
And a reminder that calming up just under an hour
from now eight oh five this morning, your first chance
of many today to pick up tickets to California's Great America, great.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Place to go on obviously great rides in great entertainment,
but Octoberfest happening right now.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Yes, so four tickets for you if you were caller
twenty at eight oh five this morning, right here on
the Breeze the Eagle seven twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
It is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. Good morning, Carolyn,
I want to get your take on this. So yesterday,
is we all know I celebrated my birthday?
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Happy birthday again, corn? Is that why we're talking about?
Why we're talking about?
Speaker 2 (13:53):
No? No, okay, So something happened. So I went out
to dinner with my wife and my daughter for a
birthday dinner, little celebrate and the place we go to
because a lot of times when you do reservations, they
ask you are you celebrating something? Yes, so we told
them it was my birthday. So this particular place they
give you a free dessert for the birthday of waiting.
Speaker 5 (14:13):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
I love those places and.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
It was a crembrewlay. I love Crembrew me too, so
but for whatever reason, business was it was the business.
The service was really slow, so we were there longer
than we wanted to and we had a birthday cake
waiting back for me at the house.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
So they come out, they start setting the plates for
the crembrewlay okay, and I say to the waiter, I said, hey,
we're kind of in a hurry. Can we can we
because he was He's like, we got a crembulee for you, Like,
can we put a cancel on that? And I felt
horrible that this waiter was doing such a nice thing
for me, and I'm like, can you cancel it? He's like,
(14:51):
tell you what, I'll give it to you to go.
So I got it to go, but I just felt horrible. Yeah,
canceling a free dessert.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
I know what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Was there a better way for me to have said, Hey,
I could you just cancel it? You're asking the wrong person.
I want this.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
I would have stayed till midnight waiting for the Kremberle
because I would have felt so bad asking for it
to go. So I don't want to make you feel worse,
but I would have stayed because you would have stayed, yes,
And I wouldn't have said a word. I just would
have been been bothered that I couldn't get.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Home on my cake.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Admittedly, I probably would have been more like you and
just stayed. But as they started to sit down, I
looked at my wife, Randy, and she's just like, we
should cancel it?
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Can we cancel that?
Speaker 1 (15:34):
So hard on your birthday? And you had to cancel
it too. That's the funniest part. But here's the other thing,
is like, am I really being rude? It's a place
of business, it's a restaurant. That waiter his feelings weren't hurt.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
That I didn't want the Kremberley, were they?
Speaker 2 (15:51):
I mean, I guess I could my feelings hurt for
the waiter. He didn't make it himself, I know, but.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
He was excited to bring it and then to go,
And I feel.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Like krem related to go is not the same. But
was he He was just doing his job. But I
was applying the feelings. You're you're talking a when I
was applying those feelings to the scenario, and I'm like,
he doesn't care. I was just I was just another
birthday boy.
Speaker 5 (16:14):
Did he not care?
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Well, I'll tell you I did give him a good tip.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
So okay, good? You should have you gave him a
guilt tip?
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Is what you asked? Exactly what I gave him, So
I did feel bad.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
I would love to hear what people think about this
one way or another? Did Court do the right thing?
Should he have stayed eight seven seven? He should have
stayed eight seven seven nine eight one nine eight one,
or use our iHeart Radio app with that talkback Mike
back into Sack on the break, It's the Morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Court. Court was out to dinner last
night with his family and.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Skipped out onto the dessert that they were going to
give me for my birthday. And I'm feeling bad about
it because you got it to go. But I did
tip the waiter well, which counts.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
But should Court feel bad about taking his birthday dessert
from the restaurant to go? Or should he have stayed
and waited even though it was taking them a long
time to bring it to him? Ernest and Palo alto
good morning, Or you did.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
The right thing, and I've been to that situation before.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
Instead of having a dessert, I said, hey, could.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
You make that dessert to go?
Speaker 4 (17:17):
And then I did give extra.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
A tip, and then I kind of looked the waiter
waitress in the eye and just.
Speaker 5 (17:23):
Say, you know, I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
You know that's nice.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
So you don't think I hurt my waiters feelings, Right,
that's what I was most worried about.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
I don't think so, because it showed on the tip
right there that you met well.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
And I'd say he is the right thing.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
My brother came a blessed eight both of.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
You, you too, Thank you, Bruce Hornsby and the range.
It's eight eleven, It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
Congratulations your collar twenty. You just picked up four tickets
for California's Great America.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Oh god, thank you.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
So you're saying you're excited. I am.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
And what is your name?
Speaker 1 (18:00):
And where are you listening to us?
Speaker 5 (18:02):
Marietta Mendosa and I'm looking it in San Francisco, California.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Very nice.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Well, we've got four tickets for you for your California's
Great America October Fest. Happening select days now through October
twenty sixth, featuring authentic German food, beverages, music, and family
friendly entertainment. So enjoy that and of course another chance

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Five this morning.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
Okay, thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
I love you and we love you and appreciate you
listening this morning.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Yeah, so much fun. And of course at four oh
five as well, we'll have tickets with Tony here on
the breeze. We're doing it all week so court. This
list just came out, the Top five junk foods of
all time. Do you think you can guess just one
of the things on this Potato chips seems to be
an easy go to for junk food. Not on the
list the top five, No, top five junk foods of
(18:47):
all time, coming in at number five. Pop tarts, Okay,
I could see that. A number Number four Oreos, all right,
love my oreos. They had like eight this weekend. Number
three Twinkies still a go to junk food.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
I can't remember the last time I had a twinkie.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Going strong sense in nineteen eighty two, Number two with
the top five junk foods of all time, Coca Cola,
Coca Cola found it odd that a soda made its
way into the junk the most.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Beverage out there.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
And the top junk food of all time coming in
at number one. A McDonald's Big Mac. Wow, that's a
solid junk food right there.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
I know it's a junk food, but I wouldn't necessarily
have said it was a junk food. It's a hamburger.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Here it goes. I can't believe popcorn isn't.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
On that list.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Popcorn is not a junk food.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
That's good for you. It's corn when you've got butter
all over it in salt. So that's a junk food.
So good. What's your favorite? Your go to?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
My go to is something in chocolate, and so I'm
a huge fan of chocolate covered cinnamon bears.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
As you well know, you.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Guys, Court brings in these chocolate covered scent of embarrass
may not sound delicious. I was skeptical at first myself,
but when I had my first taste, it's a big
gummy bear. It's a cement with light chocolate, but it's
not like the little small gummy bears. It's a traditional
cinnamon bear, but it's covered in chocolate. It's delightful. Yes, yeah,
(20:19):
so I'll put that on my list.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
You you, if you're like I don't like cinnamon that much.
It really subdues the cinnamon taste. It doesn't matter, you're
gonna like that.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Oh good.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Actually, as soon as we're done here on the air,
I'm going to open that. What about you though, what
is your go to junk food?
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Go to for me?
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Is you know the Lipton soup onion dip where you
take sour cream and we used to do this for
slumber parties in the eighties and I still love.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
It to this day. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Yeah, you mix the powder with the shower. I was
with my family this weekend in Wisconsin and my uncle
Jim ordered that. Liked that for dinner.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Yeah, hey, if you need it, if you eat enough
of it, yeah, it's a meal.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
It could be a meal. So we have this question
on our Facebook page ninety eight one the Breeze, What
is your favorite junk food?
Speaker 3 (21:02):
What a list?
Speaker 1 (21:03):
I'm just hungry reading this. We got pringles and m
and M's and Sees candy and Jalapano kettle.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Chips, a lot of French fries and chips on there,
which is again, while I'm shocked that the chips and
French Fries weren't in the top five.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
I know because our listeners like them. We like them,
so I'd like a review of this top five list.
