The Morning Breeze Morning Breeze on demand.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Time for the Friday morning edition, which is no different
from the Monday morning edition really or the Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday edition of The Morning Breeze. Brain Tease.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Okay, a survey found that one in three Americans have
not done this since high school. You threw out the
red Solo cup. Drink from a Red Solo cup. That's
not the right answer.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Maybe Christy in Texas has the right answer. Christy, did
you live in the Bay Area and then moved to Texas?
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Where were you here?
Speaker 3 (00:34):
I love listening to y'all.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Oh, look at you're already Texas.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Well, I was Texas, went to the Bay Area and back
to there.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Okay, so you were you were? You're an og Texan?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Yeah, there you.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Go, there you go. Well, I got a great guess.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Okay, I think I.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Think roller skating.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Miss those days. Can you still roller skate if you
put on a pair of skates?
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:59):
No, I tried it a while back, and I felt
like I was on a high rise.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
I did it a few times with my daughters, and
so I was. I wasn't great at it, but I
wasn't even in high school, So I was. I was
part of the course.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
I'll bet you looked like the dad that we watched
in high school that was trying to skate with his daughter.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
For He's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa? Whoas were
you there, Carolyn watching? Yes, it may actually be true,
but not the answer.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yet you got it all right?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
All right, Christy, It was nice to talk to you, though.
Have a great rest of your day, and thank you
for taking us to Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Kelly and Valo, what's.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Your guess out to somebody that they that used to
be such the thing to do in high school?
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Writing?
Speaker 1 (01:43):
No, write a note and then you had that special
way of folding it so that it ended up in
a little.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Square, and you'd pulled a little tab, or you'd spray
your perfume on it. Oh, I love that? Is that
the answer?
Speaker 1 (01:56):
That is not the answer? Those notes are cute and darling.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
It's our cue. What's the what's the answer?
Speaker 1 (02:02):
I believe it or not? One in three Americans say
they have not read a book since they were in
high school.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Oh, oh wow, I think that might be accurate for me, Kelly,
how about you? Yeah, I've read a view Okay.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
I just finished a book the other day. Would you
read It's about World War two?
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Okay, all right, Kelly, Well make it a good day,
all right, Thank you guys, thanks for listening.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Hi.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
It's the Morning Breeze Brain Teas and we do it
every weekday morning at eight forty here on the Morning Breeze.
And we should all leave and go read a book.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah, well, one of us in this room definitely should.
And by that I mean me. Sure, it's been a minute.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I didn't want to point fingers, Louise.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
That's a song you will hear only on the Breeze.
That one from Joe Cocker Jennifer Warrens at six forty two.
Good morning, It is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
It is time for the more, you know. So, if
you've been following this in the news, Carolyn, you may
have seen that travel around the US, travel outside of
(03:03):
the US travel is down, yes, But something that is
actually up and continues to be up, it's been increasing
over the past couple of years, is something called sports tourism,
or some people are calling it eventications where you are
traveling for a sports activity Okay, now professional or doesn't matter. Really,
(03:25):
it could be like a kid with travel ball, or
it could be you're going to watch the US Open.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, the travel ball is kind of that's fringey. It's
kind of there. But it's it's more you're you're going like,
for example, you're going to London to watch Wimbledon. Oh
or or in case of next year, people might be
coming to the Bay Area to watch some of the
World Cup games. Yeah, come in here for sure. The
Super Bowl happening at lead By Stadium next year. Uh,
(03:50):
some people. In fact, one of my best friends did
a stadium tour, Major League Baseball stadium tour. He went
at every single stadium in the country with his kids
over to.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
He did that over two summers.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
He tried to Oh, I'll get this in a summer, and.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
No, that's still good that he did it over too.
But I get it. I wonder why it's so centered
around sports, which I think is awesome, But I wonder
what the reasoning is for why it's sports in particular.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
I just think sports are huge right now, and it's
all types of sports. I mean, you've got the Olympics
coming to Los Angeles. Yeah, that's next year.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Right, Yeah, twenty six. Yeah, yeah, twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
It's coming up regardless. Yeah, Yeah, Olympics are coming to
the Los Angeles. You've got F one which is growing
in popularity. You familiar with that F one formula in racing.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, isn't that? Where is that coming?
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Well, they've been Vegas. They've been doing the Vegas Track.
So that's so a lot of people are going to Vegas.
As if you need another reason to go to Las Vegas.
But then you've got, like I mentioned, you got Wimbledon,
you got the World Cup. You've got all sorts of
different reasons for you to go to places like I
would love to go. If you haven't been to a
Premier League football game, soccer game shore in England, you've
(05:02):
got to do it at least once in your life
if you can.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I do love the idea of this. It's fun.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
I love traveling around to see like different I went,
Where did I go?
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I went to Well, this isn't really traveling, but I
went down to Palm Springs to watch Indian Wells the
tennis tournament. Sure a few years ago I never would
have gone down to Indian Wells for anything else.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
You a reason to go there, on top of the
other reasons you might go there.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah. No, it was awesome. So I love that. I
love that people are doing that. What's your if you
were to pick one to do with your family, what
would it be for you?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
I get that as sports related, it would probably be
a soccer match, a football match, as I say over
across the pond.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Football.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yeah, simply just because again I've been to those. I've
been to a Premier League game and it's just it's
an unbelievable experience. We showed up a little bit late
and people yelled at us, and that was part of
the experience.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Oh that's fine.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
They called this the most vile things.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Well, this is a great segue, because I think mine
would be. I have yet to go to watch the
Raiders and Vegas. Oh yeah, I'd love to go see
their new arena. I heard it's amazing.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Gotta do it.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yes, So I get it. I love this idea, all right.
The more you know, every weekday morning we bring it
to you here at six forty and.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Coming up this morning eight oh five. Yes, another chance
to win those ed Sharing concert tickets. He's at Levi
Stadium July twenty fifth.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Yes, so be here at eight oh five your chance
to win those tickets on the Breeze.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
It's Ben Middler at seven oh seven. Here on ninety
eight point one The Breeze, The Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and Court in time now to announce our latest Morning
Breeze Person of the Week, a celebration of great people
in the Bay Area doing good things, but oftentimes not
looking to be recognized, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
And this week it's Donna who nominated Eleanor. So we've
got Donna on the phone. Tell us about Eleanor and
why you nominated her this week.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
I have never met such a selfless, gentle soul with
such a big heart. She is a volunteer at the
local food banks and pantries and when they are for
like over the past five years, I want to say,
probably she just mentioned the other day, since twenty nineteen,
I think. But when a food bank closes, for example,
(07:07):
she goes out and researches and actually shows up at
different food banks to offer her services. And many times, yeah,
and many times they're surprised. I mean they're surprised, and
of course they love volunteers, but they're just surprised that
someone would walk up and probe and say, what's your schedule?
I'm here to help. And so she just recently did
(07:28):
that here in the sunset in San Francisco, and I'm
so impressed. And you know, I tell her when I
grow up, someday, I want to be just like her.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
And on top of that.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
She makes this world a better place truly, because wherever
she goes, if it's in a group setting in the community,
like if she does a tai Chi class over at
the Castro Senior Center or City College older adults class
in the neighborhood, she will always bring a big batch
of cookies that she has baked with her heart, So
(08:02):
she's baking in the evenings. Yeah, and I've never met
a person who is so caring about another individual, like
she would give you the shirt off her back. She
would definitely give you the shirt off her back.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
It sounds like ed And we just brought Eleanor on
with us. She's been listening on hold. So Eleanor, what
do you think about what Donna is saying about you?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Oh my goodness, we are we're surprises to me.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
So Eleanor, we hear that. In addition, to volunteering all
around the Bay Area. You're really good at baking cookies,
is that correct?
Speaker 3 (08:39):
The cookies that I baked this past weekend. You know,
somehow it all crumbles and it's like, oh my goodness,
I don't know. I used the rice flour and somehow
it doesn't stick together. But yesterday I took some cookies
to one of the food pantries and you know, same thing.
It was all crumbly. But you know, some people ate
some and they said, you know, they like the flame,
(09:00):
but the half of the container was soft crumbled.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
How many cookies? How many dozens of cookies would you
say you bake in a week?
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Oh my god, Well I don't bake every week, but uh,
if I do a batch, maybe about two sheets and
maybe about a third stuff like that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
You know, one thing that Donna was telling us about
you is she was saying that you will go to
an organization and you'll actually physically walk in and say hi,
I'd like to volunteer, And that so rarely happens these days.
You know, everything's online or maybe they'll call and and
I'm sure that they kind of do a double take,
thinking that you're not actually going to follow through with
(09:42):
it and then you do.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
No, I just you know, I started volunteer for It's
a San Francisco Marine food bank. You know, during the pandemic,
a lot of the community, you know, pantries like churches
and I guess community centers stay closed because of the
COVID thing, but you know they the sanfriscomer In Food Bank,
they opened up all the outdoor venues where people could
come and you know, still get food. But yeah, that's
(10:07):
how I started.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Well, Eleanor, you're definitely making the Bay area a better place,
which is why we are naming you the Morning Breeze
Person of the Week. We're also going to give you
brunch for two on the Bay courtesy of City Cruises.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Oh my goodness, well, definitely I want to share that
with Donna. Oh wow, Eleanor.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
Do you make this world a better place?
Speaker 3 (10:29):
You do many all things with great love. And your
cookies are made with love, and that's all that.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Really matters at the end of the day.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Oh my goodness, thank you, Thank you, Donna. I'm I'm
on a speech to us right now. Thank you, Eleanor,
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
You have a wonderful day, and thank you both for
being on with us today.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Oh, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
I mean I kind of want cookies right.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Now, so do I, and I don't care if they're crumbling.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
I would take those crumbled cookies that she thinks are
a fail. Well, they're a win with the rice flour.
They're perfect for you at KIS. If you have a
person in your life, like eleanor that you think deserves
to be our next Morning Breeze person of the Week,
we want to hear about them.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yeah, we've made nominating super easy. Just go to our
website ninety eight one The Breeze dot com.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
The Eagles at seven twenty eight Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and Corn It's a chance for you to ask us anything.
We do ask us anything every weekday morning here at
seven twenty five.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
It's one of my favorite times of the morning because
we turn the show over to you. You decide what
we talk about.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Dare I say, we get a full gamut of questions.
I don't think those words have ever been uttered on
this show. Was that appropriate?
Speaker 3 (11:40):
It was?
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Yes, okay, okay. We're at eight seven seven nine eight one,
nine eight one. The pause really made me nervous there
Ernest and Milpitius, good morning, ask us anything?
Speaker 5 (11:50):
So, my dad used to be at DJ. Are you
just to go in Central Valley or radio station? He
gets up around four am. The show starts around five am.
My question is do you guys stay power naps along
the way? And the other's question I have is what
do you have for breakfast heats today? I know you
probably make it up, but you know to stay out
(12:11):
day and to stay set. So those are my two questions.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Oh, okay, great to ask us any things? Yes, all right.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah, So for the naps, I nap occasionally, not every day,
but I will mix in a nap. But Carolyn, you
don't nap at all.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
I don't nap at all. But like for your naps, court,
do you just like do you get in bed a
nap or do you fall asleep on a couch?
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Sometimes it's on the couch. Most of the time. I
lay down in the bed, but I set an alarm
to make sure I don't go too long, because if
you sleep too long, then yeah, lights out and then
you're not sleeping at night.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
See.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
I don't nap, Ernest, because I don't like the groggy's
when I wake up and I don't want to have
a problem to sleep at night, so no nap here.
But now for breakfast. Now you're speaking my language.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Carolyn is regular on the breakfast and it is actually
the same thing every single day.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
It is on Sundays, I shut down. I cook a
frittata that's got cauliflower and broccoli like mash so, I
boil it, mash it. I could do some eggs, some sausage,
some spinach, jlipanos cheese. I, on the other hand, don't
eat breakfast. Courts. First meal of the day is a
chocolate covered gummy bear that we eat in the studio
(13:19):
at eight am.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
We we nature intended.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
What did your dad eat for breakfast when he was
doing radio?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Do you remember?
Speaker 5 (13:26):
Actually he would just have a good coffee, maybe a
toes of brown or a quicker out.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
And your dad is an og.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
Thank you guys. We y'all have a blasted night.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
You too are the best.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Thank you. It's ask us anything. We do it every
weekday morning at this time at seven twenty five, you
can send us your questions with our iHeartRadio up the
talkback mic and.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
It's super easy to do. Just look for the red
microphone button while you're streaming the Breeze and your questions
will show up here in the studio.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
You can also call us at eight seven, seven, nine
eight one and hey on to that number, because that
is the number that you will need to win those
Ed Sharon tickets coming up at eight oh five Ed.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Cheron at Levi Stadium, July twenty fifth. Win these tickets
before you can buy them at eight oh five here
on the Morning Breeze.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
That is Juice Newton with a song you will hear
only on the Breeze, Angel of the Morning. Eight oh eight.
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court Joseph in
San jose who was actually in Koopertino because he's driving
a truck right now, riving truck. He just picked up
those tickets to see Ed Sharon.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Yeah, he's got these two tickets the show by the Way,
Levi Stadium, July twenty fifth. He's won these courtesy of
Messina Touring Group. The tickets by the Way go on
sale today ten am at Ticketmaster. So those of you
planning on buying tickets, yeah, prepare accordingly, but also know
this at ten oh five will be given away a
pair of tickets and at four oh five will be
(14:52):
giving you another pair of tickets.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Yes, right here on the breeze. This has been so
fun this week. Also things that are fun. Last night, Court,
I decided to treat myself to go out to dinner.
My schedule's been a little crazy this week with baseball.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Yeah, so how did you treat yourself?
Speaker 2 (15:06):
I treated myself by going to Chipotle, as any single
girl would.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Hey, Chipotle is a tree, so good, right, it's great.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
So I ordered. I always get a.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Bowl there, like a burrita bowl britable minus the tortilla. Tortilla.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
So I go and I pick up my order and
I noticed that the bag is kind of big, but
I'm like, whatever, maybe they just give me my bowl
in a big bag. So he hands me the bag
and it's heavy, and I look at it and there
are there are two containers and then a burrito on top.
And all I ordered was a bowl. So I said
to the guy. I said to the guy says, hey,
(15:41):
I don't I felt like saying that, but I said,
I definitely know this is the wrong order because I
didn't order a burrito. He's like, oh, he takes the
bag back. He takes a burrito out and then he
gives me the bag back and I'm like, there's still
two containers in here. Now, I had ordered a side
of lettuce, so I thought maybe that was Like I
get home, I opened this bag and I opened what
(16:02):
I thought was the lettuce on the side, and it
was I'm guessing a kid's meal. But it was pretty
good size. It was like a case idea and then
like rice and beans on the side.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
I was like, I got somebody else's order again. So
then I thought, what if my bull screwed up? So
I opened the bowl. It's my bull, Well, it is
your bull. But now I have a problem because I
have two meals in front of me.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
So so the responsible person would choose one to go
into the refrigerator for consumption today.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
That was my stay zact thinking. I was like, I'm
going to make two meals out of this for the
present one. That's what a responsible person would do. Sure,
So I thought, well, I'm just going to eat the
kid's meal and then I'll save the bull for tomorrow.
So I ate the kid's meal. It was delightful.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Man.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
They make a good case a. And then you went
right to bed and then I looked at the ball
and I thought, I mean, that's what I ordered. I
should try it fresh.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
It's hot.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah, I put some sauce on it. I took a bite,
then I took another bite, and then I ate the
entire bowl.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Now no leftover.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
One would think, Carolyn, you've had two meals now in
a span of ten minutes while standing up in the kitchen.
By the way, didn't even go sit down.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
You're so full?
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Yeah I was, but you know what, I still managed
to have some almond butter with honey after that.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
This is a dessert, a little sweet treat to end
the night.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
I then quickly made my way into my bedroom to
get up my elastic pants to put those on because
I was everything was a little tight, my breathing was labored,
and so that was my night. And then, of course
I was profusely sweating and thirsty. So I drank a
bunch of water, which didn't help the elastic pants situation.
(17:51):
And then I just laid in bed and sweat. Oh
that's my night.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Other than the sweating. Any regrets not now, Okay, in
the moment, A lot those those are Chipotle casady Is. Yeah,
are delicious. That's nuts who came up. They well, how
unless they've changed. It's a digital exclusive and this is
not an AD. But you can only get the casey
(18:14):
as if you order them through the app.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Well, and thank you to whoever did that.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
And it comes. It's like a chicken casey probably what
it was. And then you get some you get to
choose like three sides and oftentimes you can do the
rice and the beans.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
That's what someone did.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
Some or some you know, yeah, some guacamole if you will.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
No, that's what someone did. And I really enjoyed their
dinner and then mine, so man man chipole.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Wait time do chpotle open.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
I don't know if you'd have the same luck, but
it was a pretty great night at my house.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Anyway. I love bonus dinners where you get something extra.
It's it's almost it's actually it's much better when you
get when you order French fries, the regular fries, but
like a curly fries sneaks in there.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Oh, I love when you get us a random fry
in there. Yes, it's such a free. Good point on that.
We are at eight seven seven nine eight one nine
eight one. Coming up later this hour, we will be
commercial free we do it every weekday to start your day.

Thank you for that.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
