Speaker 2 (00:26):
In a recent poll, twenty one percent a man say
they feel nervous when doing this, even though it's something
they do ten to twelve times a year.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Okay, and this is guys only, guys only, okay eight
seven seven nine eight one nine eight one. Megan and
pleasant Hill, good morning. What's your guests checking out a woman? You,
guys ever feel nervous checking out girls? That's why you
wear sunglasses.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
I've never actually caught my husband doing it, but I'm
sure it happens.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I think it's just natural and like vice versa though,
right sure, oh yeah, Megan, yeah no, no, no, right
right right, right, right right sure.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Now, if I actually when I'm walking places and I
see when I see men checking out, I was like,
what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (01:18):
As you just said, you put sunglasses on, so you're sunglasses.
What are you doing? What are you doing? Great guests?
Not the correct answer. Listening to you guys in the morning,
Thank you, thank you, all right, have a good day.
Than all right, all right, Roger and sandramon what's your guess.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Going to some sort of an event that they really
don't want to go to?

Speaker 5 (01:37):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Man, I mean that's like one hundred percent of the
time for me my department, And it's less being nervous
and just being like, why am I here? Geez, Courty,
Andy's listening?

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Am I right?

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:50):
You know you're right going to the in lawns?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Oh yeah, Oh my gosh, you guys, both of you.
You know you're on the radio, entered into territory.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
I'm not comfortable with.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Actually, that's not the right answer.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
The correct is twenty one percent of men say they
get nervous getting a haircut, even though they get a
haircut roughly ten times a year.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
I love getting hair cut and I've been going to
the same lady for haircuts almost forty years.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Oh wow, When I am getting my hair done with
my girl. The woman next to her does mostly men.
She will cut five heads of hair, oh yeah, or
more in the time that my hair is. How she
turns you guys around is crazy. We have less hair.
I know that it's just an art.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, I'm twenty minutes and I've got a pretty good
head of hair.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, I have ventured into the realm of They start,
they do my hair, and then they're like, well, you've
actually got more beard beard hair than you have head hair.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
At this point. I get a beard trimmed these days.
That makes me nervous though.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Yeah, I haven't done. I haven't had a beard and
facial hair for probably twenty five years, so that would.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Scare me if someone started cutting around my face. All right, Roger, well,
thanks for calling in this morning.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
You have good to have a good show you.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Oh, thank you. That's so nice. Have a good weekend.
I think about like, when they're cutting your trimming around
your beard, how sharp the blades are on this, I'd
be so afraid of Mine has nothing to do with
with that. It's more like I just I'm like, please
make me look pretty.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Because I have kind of found that I like my
beard to be not as I don't like it super
like tight and trim. I don't want it to look
overly quaffed. Oh yeah, I want to look a little
more natural. Okay, And so I started, I'm like, oh,
wait a minute, what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Okay, it's so funny. As a woman, I just thought, like,
a beard is a beard. No, No, there's different there's
different levels of beards. There's people who have very uh,
you know, straight edges. I don't like the super straight edges.
You have to be careful when you trim the underside
of the beard because if you go too high up on,
like towards the towards the chin, your beard starts looking

(03:57):
like a chin strap rather than a beard. Oh so
you got to be careful of that because you can
tighten it up too much. Okay, it's an art form. Yeah,
there's a lot there. See night, now you sense my
nervous nays. Welcome to beard Talk on the Morning Breeze
for your Friday morning. All right, morning Breeze brain teas
we do it every weekday morning at this time at
six point twenty and coming up this morning at eight
point fifty, as you are starting your day in the office,

(04:19):
or you're working from home, driving the kids around, maybe
you're heading out of town one last time for the summer. Yeah,
we're going to be commercial free.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yeah, ninety eight minutes of non stop, commercial free, relaxing favorites,
helping you begin whatever you're doing today. And we'll do
that at eight fifty here on the Morning Breeze and
ear Louiz this music from Abbot at six forty two.
Here on ninety eight point one The Breeze, The Morning
Breeze with Carolyn in court. We're just minutes away from
the More you know, but we should point this out, Carolyn.

(04:47):
Pretty massive wide system one computer issue happening for a
lot of people. The computer system has just shut down
completely on Bart. Yeah, so all of the lines are down.
There are no trains running on Bart this morning. They
have no estimated time of getting this system back up
and running. So they're telling you this morning on Bart,

(05:08):
take alternate means of transportation into the city or wherever
it is that you're headed on Barth this morning. But
it has caused some major traffic delays, and we will
have a full traffic report coming up in less than
ten minutes. But just beware no bart service anywhere in
the Bay Area this morning.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
Right.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
So with that said, now it's time for the more.
You know, I feel like it's a double kind of
gig for there.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yeah, you got bart not running and you also have
this Staying in is apparently the new going out, perfect
for Friday night. I feel like such a trendsetter. Yeah,
so nights are kind of having a moment here. There's
a new study that came out that said seventy two
percent of people seventy two percent, so big numbers, say
we would rather stay in at night, at home with

(05:53):
friends and family. Yeah, twenty eight percent say we'd rather
go out. That's a big number of people that say
they'd rather see And this shift came right after the pandemic.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
We we just got used to it, got used to
it and it's pretty great. It's pretty great. Are you
that way too? It depends like I'm actually thinking this weekend,
I'm like, I kind of want to get out.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Oh okay, But for you, all of a sudden, I know,
I have no idea what I'm going to do, But
it comes down to that, like my wife and I
will talk big for a couple of days like start
of the week, we're like, yeah, let's go out this weekend.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah, and then by Thursday Friday, we're like, let's just
stay in and order some tie. I so get that.
Oh that sounds good, isn't it. What night are you
doing that? I might come over Okay, still in the
yellow curry. Yes, I love it. It's so good time. Yes,
Oh my gosh, Court can't wait to see you tomorrow.

(06:48):
I'll inform my wife that we'll have a guest.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
So, they say this shift is driven by factors like
cost savings, a desire for more intimate connections because at
home you can really have conversations with people versus going
out it's loud and there's a lot happening. And also
the convenience of just home based entertainment, watching a movie
at home or listening to music the breeze hopefully, Yeah,
whatever it is that you're doing. But I know, for me,

(07:13):
like if I have to put on makeup on a
weekend or dress up, oh, I'm already like I'm going
to stay in. You're already out. That's all it takes.
So yeah, staying in the new going out and now
you know, wow, and again you've been doing it for years.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Who knew?

Speaker 1 (07:29):
The more you know, we do it every weekday morning
at this time at six forty. You could reach us
for anything on the show eight seven seven nine eight
one oh nine eight one, or send us a talk
back with our iHeart Radio app. By the way, make
us your number one pre set on our iHeart Radio app.
Would love for you to do that because it makes
your listening experience that much easier. So when you open

(07:49):

App free in your app store or ninety eight won
Theebreeze dot com. It's Madonna and it is seven oh
five The Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court every Friday
morning at this time. We have taken all of your
nominations and we got some really great nominations this week.

(08:13):
We love to do it, but it's also a very
hard decision. It is it's the Morning Breeze Person of
the Week. And by the way, if you have made
a nomination for somebody and they are not this week's
Morning Breeze Person of the Week. Do not worry, we
will get to them.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
This week.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
It is Steve who nominated Surely Surely volunteers at the
NAPA Animal Shelter. Yeah, we've got Steve on hold. So
Steve tell us about Shirley. Why did you nominate her?

Speaker 5 (08:36):
And she retired. She worked for the city, and after
she retired she does all ofver volunteer time over there,
twenty to thirty hours there alone. And she knows just
about every dog in Cat's name and tries to get
him adopt at one and does cleaning, plus she walks

(08:57):
the dog. She'll generate flyers and stuff to try to
get dogs money for operations, and right now she gets
every morning up at five. She's got three dogs now
and two of them are from the pound, and one
of them was surrendered by an older couple that's thirteen
and just about the at the end of its life.

(09:18):
But Surely took it home and has given it special
care and take care of it.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
I have such admiration for people who adopt senior dogs
totally because it you know they do need special care oftentimes,
and you know you're not going to have them forever.
You fall in love with them, and you know it's
going to be short lived in so hard and dogs
are just the best.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
They are right, well, the cats and dogs. Well, she'll
take care of my animals when we're gone, you know
what I'm saying, Because I got my wife. We take
care of umpteen cats and dogs, and I got two
cats and a dog. How do you know, Shirley, she's
my sister in law.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Do you think, Steve, if we called Shirley right now,
do you think we get on the phone.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
Let's try it?

Speaker 4 (10:01):
All right?

Speaker 2 (10:02):
All right?

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Stand by hold on? Oh hey, Shirley, Yes, Hi, this
is Carolyn and Court from ninety eight point one The Breeze.
We also have Steve with us on the phone. Hi, Steve,
why did you tell Shirley why we're calling this morning?

Speaker 5 (10:19):
I nominated you, uh, surely for a person of the
Week from what do you do, Shirley.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Steve was telling us about all the work you do
at the NAPA Animal Shelter. The devotion that you have
to these animals that need forever homes is pretty darn admirable.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Walk right now, Oh, before I go to the animal shelter.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Of course you are surely, and this is why you're
the person of the week.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
And this is on top of you being there for
Steve and his wife watching their dogs when they go
out of town and their animals. So you're just it
seems like you're always busy. Yes, what drove you to
become such an animal lover? Did you grow up with
an animal or what is your backstory?

Speaker 4 (11:03):
They kind of grew as I got older because we
only had one dog growing up. We've had dogs since
I've had children, and then after I retired, I decided
to try the animal shelter. And we also used to
do home rehabbing for Napa Wildlife. Well I think we
did it for about four or five years. This is
the first spring summer we haven't done squirrels home we

(11:26):
having for squirrels.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Squirrel Yeah, I didn't even know that was a thing.
Ye didn't either.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Yeah, you should contact your local wildlife and not only
you know they need help in their facilities and their rescues,
but sometimes you can be a home rehab or for
certain kind of animals.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
See this is so greatly. We're so happy to be
able to do this for you. By the way, we're
not just calling you and telling you you're a Person
of the Week, which is fantastic, right, well deserved. But
also we are going to award you brunch for two
out on the Bay courtesy of City Cruises.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Oh, thank you so much, Thank you, Steve.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
You're welcome. Thank you guys. You do a great job.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
That's a time.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Oh, thank you Steve. No wonder and asked me how
many hours I volunteer?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Why is he asking me all these questions, taking such
an interest in my life all of a.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Sudden, Yes, thank you so much.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
You're welcome.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
By the way, Court, I was going to mention there
is the Lindsey Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek, which I
grew up going to as a kid, and they're always
looking for volunteers all the wildlife, like the birds and
the squirrels and all of those animals, all the things. Yeah,
so there's a place in the East Bay right there.
If you're looking to volunteer at one of these wildlife places,

(12:42):
that's really great. They're all over the Bay area. Yeah. Nice.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
If there is somebody like surely in your life, we
want to hear about them. You can nominate them for
the next Morning Breeze Person of the Week on our
website ninety eight one The Breeze dot Com. It's Kenny
Rogers and Dolly Parton with the song you Will Hear
Only Here on ninety eight point one The Breeze.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Six is the time. Maybe you're asking yourself who wrote
that song? The Begees. There you go. It's got a
beg's feel too.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
And I bring up asking questions because we've reached that
time of the show where we turned the show over
to you for you to ask us anything. It's called
ask us anything.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Yeah, ask us anything. It's Keith and Conquered this morning
who sent a note? He said, Hi, Carolyn and Cord
I listened to your show every morning on the way
to work. Thank you. Keith, appreciate that, and I especially
love ask us anything. So, being that it's Friday, I
wanted to ask if you could have only one topping
on your pizza? What is that one must have topping?

(13:41):
That's pretty good? Because today is National.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Cheese Pizza So this is so is he asking in
addition to cheese, which is kind of a standard.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
He didn't say. I feel like cheese is a given.
It doesn't count as a topping. Right, it's free. It's
like no, Calvin, let's you want extra yeah? Yeah, Now
an answer I guess could be extra cheese, but cheese
doesn't catch.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Okay, so if cheese is already on the table on
the pizza, complicating this, Yes, what would you your go
to topping be.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
I'm a big fan of pepperoni pizza. That's yes.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
When I'm judging pizza places, I go to the pepperoni pizza,
I judge everything by their pepperoni pizza.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
My answer was also pepperoni for this. You know who
does a good pepperoni on their pizza. I'm going to
take you back round table pizza. Oh you know why
because they've got the small pepperonis where if they cook
the pizza long enough, the cup, yes, yes, they catch
the oil inside. It's just delicious. Right and then they Chris,
you can outside of you can buy those at the
grocery store. The cupping pepperonis. You can. That's a thing.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Yeah, because I think they're manufactured or they're they're made
in a certain way allows them to cup.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
I had no idea. It's pretty special. Thank you, Julia Child.
I did not know that I that such an expert here. Yeah. Okay,
if if I were allowed to say, have two toppings
on a pizza, I would actually question, but go ahead,
which off of the pepperoni, which again I adore, I love,
And I would go with a sausage and mushroom, Oh,

(15:16):
because I love that combination. Okay. A lot of people
like the sausage sausage mushroom. I'm just not a mushroom fan.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
It tastes like eating dirt. It is earthy. I mean
the mushrooms grow in the dirt.

Speaker 5 (15:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
So I went to our Facebook page because we put
this question on our page as well. At ninety eight.
One of the breeze saying like, if you could have
one other topping on your pizza, what would it be?
Pepperoni number one? I do see sausage in there, Salami
in there? Okay, black olives. Oh you're not an olive black,
are you? Oh? Yes?

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Sometimes like a good pepperoni with blacks. Seeing that done
a lot.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
That's a classic. Here's the one that threw me. Cindy
said anchovies. I feel like she's just trying to throw
the curve in the post. No, people who love anchovies
love anchovies. I mean that's always been the joke of
putting anchovies on pizza, but people love.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
It all right.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Several people said pineapple, which does belong on pizza? By
the way, how do you feel about that? You got
to have I think you've got to have that Canadian
bacon that happened, absolutely and throw some halapanos on there.
I am in. That is a dream pizza right there.
I could live in a world without it. My wife
that's her go to. Oh really, Oh I love that

(16:30):
all right, So there you go, and Keith, thank you
for the note. Ask us anything turned in like five
other things.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Yeah, that's perfect, And if you would like to chime
in as well, we encourage you to head on over
to our Facebook page and tell.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Us what you would put on your pizza. Yes, we've
got that. At ninety eight one of the Breeze. You
can call us with your ask us anything eight seven
seven nine one oh nine eight one. It's Nellie Pertato,
say it right, eight oh seven, Good morning. It is
the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
So Carolyn, not too long ago we moved my daughter
Quinn into her first college apartment, so she's done the dorms.
She did a sorority. But now she has moved into
her own apartment where she had to sign a lease.
This is huge, so we emptied her her bedroom. I
talked about this a little bit, like yeah, yeah, yeah,

(17:19):
and the emotional toll and all that stuff. What I
was not expecting how it just was going to tear
our family apart. Why, well, have you ever moved heavy
objects with a family member or a loved one.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
If you want to.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Test the bonds of life, try moving an oak dresser. No,
Oh my gosh, Courts, can you say who the most
difficult of the bunch was? You know, everybody was pretty great. Quinn,
my oldest, the one who was daughter who's moving.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
She was exceptional. She was great. So we moved her.
But here's here's what happen is.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
We moved her out, and then once we got back
from you, because we loaded up a truck and we
took it to Eugene, Oregon. When we got back, we're like,
now we have this empty room. My wife said, I'm
going to move my office into there because she works
from home. She runs her own business.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
So she moves into Quinn's empty room.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
And so then we've got to rearrange all this furniture
in the house, so we're then it's my wife and
I and then our youngest daughter, Sloan, trying to move stuff.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
That's really when things got tested took a turn. The
fact that there's no divorce happening and that a child
was not disowned is a miracle. Oh my gosh, I
can't imagine.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
It just got me to thinking because you see this
all the time all over the place, where you see
moving companies that it's like, it's like Anderson and Son.
Oh yeah, how do why do families go into business
moving things? It just feels like it's an like just
look bad business.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
I kind of feel I kind of feel like if
you are a moving company and it's let's say Anderson
and Sons, and it really is Anderson and his sons.
I feel like moving someone else's stuff is different from
moving your own. There's something about moving your own things
with family members or it gets personal. Yeah, when it's
someone else's stuff, it's like, hey, how do we strategize

(19:18):
to get this done so you can get to launch one?
Plus they have like insurance and yeah they're making money
off of it. But when it's your own stuff, everybody's
got to take in an opinion.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Yeah, ours was we need to move this four hundred
pound treadmill. Slow sloan, come and help us. Oh you
need you want to go hang out with your friends. Well,
let's do this as quickly as possible.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
And then Son's like, you know what, Actually, they're going
to go see my friends right now, and then it's
just you and Randy. Yeah, I was nightmarish.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
I would always recommend, if you can do it, hire
somebody else to move the heavy stuff. In our case,
we were just too cheap.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Yeah, I get that too, I've been there, but way
to lead to see another day. Court. Congratulations, you guys
made it through the storm as Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
I actually sent apology texts to every single member of
my family saying, hey, thank you for your assistance today.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Was not aware of that additional information That also says
a lot.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Sorry.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
I got a little intense there, but I appreciate your help,
and it was your apology was accepted. Yes, good, then
we're good. I think so as long as no one
else in your house. I just yeah, I just know
in the future they're probably not going to accept my
request to start saving your money now for a mover
next that's what I need to do. We're at eight
seven seven nine eight one. Coming up later this hour

(20:34):
at eight point fifty, we're going to be commercial free.
We do this every weekday morning to start off your day,
no matter what you have going on today.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Yeah, it's right, ninety eight minutes of non stop, commercial free,
relaxing favorites, and we'll do that at eight to fifty.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Here on the Morning Breeze.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
It's music from Phil Collins. Here on ninety eight point
one The Breeze, The Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
Eight thirty nine is the time, which means it's time
for the Morning Breeze. Brain Teas sponsored by Mike Counsel Plumbing.
You're in Clean Hands with Mike Cancel Plumbing. Visit them
at mc plumbing dot com. Now, today's question, while it
is directed towards men, I feel like anybody can answer
this question.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Sure. Sure.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Twenty one percent of men say they feel nervous doing this,
and as I pointed out, it's something that they usually
do about ten to twelve times a year.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
Okay, eight seven seven nine, eight one oh nine to
eight one. Megan in Pleasant Hill, you're up first. What
is your gas checking out a woman. Do you guys
ever feel nervous checking out girls? That's why you wear sunglasses.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
I've never actually caught my husband doing it, but I'm
sure it happens.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
I think it's just natural and like vice versa though,
right sure, oh yeah, Megan, Yeah, no, no, no, right, right, right, right, right, right, great, guests,
not the correct answer. Love listening to you guys in
the morning. Thank you, thank you, all right, have a
good day. Thanks, all right, all right, Roger and San Ramon.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
What's your guess going to some sort of an event
that they really don't want to go to?

Speaker 6 (22:06):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Man, I mean that's like one hundred percent of the
time for me. It's my department, and it's less being
nervous and just being like why am I here? Geez, Courty,
you know Andy's listening?

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Am I right?

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Yeah?
