Speaker 2 (00:16):
Brain teaes sponsored by Mike Counsel Plumbing. You're in clean
hands with Mike Counsel Plumbing. Visit them at mc plumbing
dot com.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Okay, I like today's question. This should be very interesting
when it comes to guesses. Yeah, nearly twenty percent of
people so think of it this way. One in five
of us thank you court do this. I like to
put Mike the visual. Some people are like twenty percent.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I can't quit. It is Monday morning. I'll give it
to you. One in five of us say they do
this every night.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Okay eight seven seven nine eight one nine eight one.
That is how you reach us. You can also send
us your guesses by the way, with our iHeartRadio app
using that talkback mic. First, we've got Steve and NAPAs.
Do you think you have the answer? What do you
think it is?
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Watch TV?
Speaker 1 (00:59):
I don't know TV. Some people put on the TV
before they go to bed.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
I feel like more than twenty percent of people watch TV.
But this is a court question. This could be absolutely right,
like a like a red herring. Here, it's not the
right answer.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
I know I'm you know, trying to drive and think.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
You know that's good. Sorry to make you work so
hard this morning, Steve.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Good guest, Steve, all right, you guys have a super
you too.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Like Gina in San Jose, good morning. What do you
think stretch?
Speaker 4 (01:31):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Like before bed?
Speaker 5 (01:33):
Sometimes I do all the stress from from all days
from work and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yes, I think it's pretty good, guess.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I Actually I lay in bed and I can't just
try to stretch out my back because you can get
some better angles while in your bed.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Oh, that's fun. I film myself sometimes, Carolyn, so you
can see it. No, you're giving me a look. I
think I'm good there. Yeah, I think we're good. Love love.
That's an answer, but it's not the correct one. What is
the answer? Correct answer?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Twenty percent of people say they sleep with their socks
on every night.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Ew, my wife is one of them.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
Interesting, I can't do that.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
I can't either.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I don't like that weird feeling of socks in your sheett.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
Exactly, it's a weird feeling. It's super hot.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Oh okay, are these twenty percent if anybody listening sleeps
with socks?
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Wife? Okay, all right, Gina, have a good day and
a good week.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
Thank you, Thank you too my day.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Oh you're so sweet. All right, bye bye.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Even talking about it, I have like hev GB's with
the sock situation. You have a like sticks to the
sheet and then you move in the shackos sideways and
it comes off a little bit.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Oh yeah, it's a whole thing. No, see, I have
long said because I have the sleeping technique, which is
one foot actually out of the covers entirely, so that
so that my body can regulate itself.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Hm.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
With the socks, you ruin all of that. The socks
are ruin a lot of things. Yeah, but that was
a good question. Okay.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Morning Breeze brain tease. We do it every weekday morning
at six twenty here on the Breeze. Something else that
happens on the regular here on the Morning Breeze happens
on Fridays just after seven o'clock when we announce a
new morning Breeze Person of the Week right now, Raining
champion surely and NAPA I I don't know if you
call them champions, surely persons of the week. Yeah, she
was nominated by her brother in law, Steve. I know
(03:27):
she does all good things for the animals in NAPA.
She's a volunteer and is all about rescue and fostering
and all those good things.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
So she was a perfect person of the Week.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
But we do need somebody new for this week, and
we're telling you now to give you plenty of time
to think about that person and get your nominations into
us and tell us why they are so special. You
can nominate somebody right there on our homepage ninety eight one,
The Breeze dot Com. And Louise, thank you John who
was listening to us on the East Coast on our
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
He enjoys that song, Yeah, we know he does.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
From Buggins and Messina the Morning Breeze Carolyn and Court,
that of course is a song you'll hear only on
the Breeze by the way, six forty three, and it
is time for.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
The more, you know, so, Carolyn, Americans are getting braver
about skiddy skipping guilt tipping.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Oh, guilt tipping. What's the answer. Familiar with what guilt
tipping is.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
It's basically where you're at an establishment that you typically
didn't used to tip at. Yeah, and they turned the
little screen around. Yes, they do kind of look the
other way all the time. That's so funny you say
that they do they and sometimes they don't. Yeah, but
there's this expectation that you tip suddenly on something they
(04:44):
didn't you staf to tip on.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Do you notice that the tip options have gotten larger too? Oh? Yeah, defaults.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
You used to be five, ten or fifteen or something
or maybe ten, fifteen, twenty, and now it goes up
to like twenty five or thirty percent.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Twenty is like the lowest option. Now we're maybe eighteen.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Yes, yeah, So Americans last year tipped about two hundred
and fifty three dollars over the course of a year.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Actually four hundred and fifty three dollars, oh, the course
of a year. Wow.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
However, right now we're on track to only do it
about two hundred and eighty three. So if you do
the math, quick math, yeah, thirty eight, we're down thirty
eight percent year to year.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I wonder what's happening. I feel like the tipping.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
We tipped more, obviously and rightfully so during the pandemic
because we knew people weren't working, and we were trying
to support restaurants but to keep them open during the pandemic,
and so the tipping kind of came along with that,
that you tip a little more because you wanted to
help your friends and neighbors out and fellow business owners.
But now maybe that's what's happening is people life is
(05:49):
slowly returning.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Back to normal. Yeah. Maybe I don't know. I wonder
what the reasoning is.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Well, A part of the reason why they're saying that
people are tipping less, especially on the guilt tipping at times,
is the cost of living has just gone up. Cost
of living has gone up, and seventy eight percent of
people say they would just rather the employee businesses just
pay your pay your employees more. I would gladly pay
(06:13):
more for this coffee. Yeah, agreed, you know, twenty more
cents on this coffee adds up.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
You can give that, you know.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Yeah, But I kind of like tipping the people that
are waiting on me, you know what I'm saying that
sometimes I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
And again this gets into that realm.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
I know, this gets into that realm of there's there's
the traditional places where we Americans always like to tip,
but then there's those times where you used to not
have to tip. If you go into like a fast
casual place and you order at the counter and you
pick up at the counter and there's no there's no
waiting on you at all, the tipping is so yeah,
so or And we've brought this up. Before you go
(06:48):
to a concert and you buy a T shirt when
they offer, there's a tipping there, I know.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
And it's just like crazy t shirts are already like
fifty bucks at a concert or more. I don't even
know how I bought one, like, but yeah, oh that's
so interesting, all right. The more you know, we do
it every weekday morning. At this time, it's six point
forty here on the Breeze. You can reach us eight
seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one, or
send us a message with our iHeart radio app.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Yeah, it's easy to do while you're streaming the Breeze
on our iHeartRadio app. Just look for the red microphone button,
click it, leave your message. It'll come here into the studio,
So download that app at ninety eight one Thebreeze dot Com.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
It's music from Chicago at seven oh eight.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Here on ninety eight point one The Breeze, You've got
the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court and it is
time for the Brighter Side, sponsored by Shreven Company, Luxury
time pieces, fine designers, and Flawless Diamonds. The Brighter Side
is all about the positive things happening in your life,
whether it's at.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Home, at work, anywhere. Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
You can call us eight seven seven nine eight one
oh nine eight one to share your brighter side or
leave us a talkback on our free iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yeah, and Saturday night was the big drawing for the
one point eight billion dollar powerball lottery. There were two
winners who matched all the numbers. I think one was
in Techs one was in Missouri. But once again Court,
even though no one in the Bay Area won the
big one point eight billion dollar, we had eight tickets
sold for one point six million dollars here in the
(08:14):
Bay Area.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
So this is when they matched like almost all. Yeah,
like four of the five. I think it is something
like that. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Remember last week there were two tickets sold for one
point six million. One was in pleasant Hill and one
was in Milpitis. Right, well, the one Saturday. Check your
tickets if you live in the Dublin area. Because someone
bought a ticket from the Circle K Exon gas station
in Dublin and that ticket was worth one point six
million dollars.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
That is not too shabby. Now that's still some life
changing money right there. Yeah, it's not one.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Point eight billion dollars. So one point six million, and
after taxes it's you know, sure carry the two well
you do the map. It's not my department. But yeaheah,
so that's very cool.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
I do not want to take anything away from this
person in Dublin, as you say, point six million. You
don't want to yuck anyone's yeah, yuck, anyone's jump. I'm
just saying that now I'm just too yumming. I'm yumming
something somebody else's yum But I too won money off
of the power ball.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
No way, would you have right here?
Speaker 4 (09:15):
Where?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Did did you buy it here in the city? Okay? Okay,
that took a while. This would you win nine dollars
or Johnson?
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Well I did five quick picks for ten bucks and
I'll get I'm getting nine dollars back.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Okay here negative, but at it. You get to take
that and be like, I'd like to cash this in, please,
I can't wait. Everybody's a winner and you, as they say,
if you don't play, you don't win.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Maybe it's the other way exactly right.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I do love this because there's this little uh place
close to the Oracle Park and close to us here third.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
In Townsend, Oh liquor store.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Yeah, so if you yeah, so if you buy there,
they actually take your lottery lottery ticket, they rub it
on a little bobble had like a giant's babbleheads, which
was great.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
So it gave me the look and I got nine
bucks back. You lost a dollar. That was so nice
of them.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
All right, well, congratulations, And again, if you live in
the Dublin area you pass through Saturday and bought a ticket,
check those tickets.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Check it.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
We do the Brighter Side every weekday morning, just after
seven o'clock. We certainly welcome your stories and great things
that have happened to you. Tell us about them eight
seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one, or
send us a message, like Court said earlier, with our
iHeart Radio app.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
And coming up this.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Morning at seven twenty five, it's ask Us Anything, your
chance to call into the show and ask us anything
that might be on your mind.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Yep, once again that number eight seven seven nine eight
one oh nine eight one. Joey Scarbury seven twenty eight
Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cord and it is time
for ask us Anything. A chance for you to call
us and ask us anything that is on your mind.
We will answer all questions. Eight seven seven nine eight
one oh nine eight one, or send us a message
(10:58):
with our iHeart Radio app.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
And today it's Steve in Alameda. Who's got a question
for us? All right, Steve, ask us anything?
Speaker 6 (11:05):
Well, I got a question today. I've been thinking about
you guys. I was wondering what kind of contract you
guys sign when you when you you know, get your duration.
Is it a year or is it by week or month?
Or how does that work?
Speaker 3 (11:17):
It's a it's a yearly contract typically, Okay, that's I
think for most radio and television people they do yearly agreement,
sometimes multi yearly. Steve, are you hoping that we signed
a one year or a tenure?
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (11:34):
I hope.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
I hope a twenty year.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Hey there, you know that'd be something.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
Every week, you.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Know what, Steve, have you ever been a radio agent?
Speaker 4 (11:45):
No?
Speaker 6 (11:46):
Not really.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Yeah, so that's it.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
It's a it's an annual, but sometimes you sign for
a multiple years and sometimes you sign it just really depends.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Everybody's different.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
Okay, well, I'm glad to hear that.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah, we'd like to do this for a couple more
years at least.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
I hear you.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Okay, thanks for calling in this morning, Steve.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
I'm always surprised how many people are curious. I think
it's something like, honestly that we take for granted. Yeah,
because we know how the show works, and we know
how the industry works.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
The business behind the business.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
I always marvel at, Yeah, how curious people are about
like how the sausage is made and like what goes
on behind the scenes. So we welcome those questions. We
welcome any question that you have. That is why it's
called ask us anything. Eight seven seven nine eight one
oh nine eight one. Or use our iHeartRadio app. Yeah,
you can download that in your app store or at
(12:35):
ninety eight one the Breeze dot Com DAT eight with
Dido here on ninety eight point one, The Breeze. You've
got the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. Now her
name is Dido, but that's that's just a portion of
her name. She's one of those people who have like
seven names in their name.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
What's her name? Her full name?
Speaker 2 (12:52):
You have the full name, sure, Dido, Florian Cloud, Bonavaille,
O'Malley Armstrong.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
WHOA, I just call her Dido. I I just go
by Dido as well. Well, that's what the.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
World calls her, all right, it's Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and Court. So my sister in law said something to
me the other day. I was saying a minute ago,
and when she said it, you know when somebody says
something in your brain like freezes, and you just stop.
You're trying to process the information.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
Sure.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
So she and my brother came to a Giant's game
this last homestand and we were talking about all the
cute stuff on the ride home that we have in
the dugout store at the ballpark, and there was this
pair of socks in the store and I thought they
were super cute, and so I said to my brother
and his wife, I think the boys my nephews might
like these and she said, and this is what got me,
(13:43):
maybe you should get them for the boys for Christmas.
And it hit me, Oh my gosh, we're already talking
about Christmas.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
And she's not wrong, Like she is not wrong. I'm
gonna one up you what this happened to me? Over
the weekend.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
I saw a headline on I'm sure it was on Facebook.
It was scrolling there's only five fifteen Fridays Christmas.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Can it tell you the same fact? Fifteen Friday. I
saw that meme on Facebook too. That was the next
thing I was going to say. And I saw that
and that stopped me again, am I tracks, Yeah, it's happening.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
I mean that's still a lot. That's fifteen weeks. It's
still not barely into September. Oh yeah, now the holidays
are going to be here before we know.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
You know how it goes as soon as Halloween hits,
which we're seeing Halloween everywhere now, Oh.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
We've been seeing that for sometimes.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Once Halloween happens, we are full blown into the holidays.
It just like really took me by surprise. And I
was like, yeah, actually I should go get those socks
because that's two less gifts I have to buy. And
then I thought, now I'm creating a Christmas list.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
You know, start early, start crossing that off.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
My daughter has been started asking for different things and
I'm ready put it on the Christmas list.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Oh that was so you can do that in like July, right,
added to the list.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
But I wonder when we're going to see like the
first holiday commercial, because that's going to happen. Yeah, what
ball has started? Football started, that's usually where they fall.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
I do know if you go to Costco the trees
you can go buy the Christmas trees and the holiday
lights all they have those out in like July, the
rapping papers they start Costco. Come on, it's a little
early Costco.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
I mean I kind of respect it. You get your
cross that off the list. But yeah, so that's happening. Yeah,
it's such a trip to think about. Anyway, we're fifteen Fridays.
We're at eight seven seven nine eight one nine eight one.
By the way, we are looking for a new Morning
Breeze person of the week. If there is somebody in
your life that you feel like is that person that
(15:42):
always does good things for other people, but there they
don't get any recognition.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
This is a great way for you to recognize that.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Yeah, we will take care of the celebration, the recognizing.
We will also award them brunch for two on the
Bay courtesy of City Cruises.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Yes, so tell us about that person who they are.
We have a quick form for you to fill out.
It takes less than five minutes. It's on our page
ninety eight one The Breeze dot com.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Billy Joel.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
It's eight thirty seven. It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and Court. It is time for the Morning Breeze brain tease.
We do it every weekday morning at this time. Okay, Court,
one more time with the question. Nearly twenty percent of
people say they do this every night. Eight seven seven nine,
eight one oh nine eight one. All right, Steve and Napa,
(16:25):
good morning. What's your guess?
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Watch TV?
Speaker 1 (16:28):
I don't know TV. Some people put on the TV
before they go to bed.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
I feel like more than twenty percent of people watch TV.
But this is a court question. This could be absolutely right,
like a like a red herring here, it's not the
right answer.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Yeah, I know, I'm you know, trying to drive and
think you know that's your body. Good.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Sorry to make you work so hard. This morning, Steve,
good guest, Steve.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
All right, you guys have a super goalt you too.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Gina in San Jose, good morning. What do you think?
Speaker 5 (16:58):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Stretch? Oh like before bed?
Speaker 5 (17:02):
Sometimes I do all the stress from from all days,
from work and stuff.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yes, I think it's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Guess I actually I lay in bed and I can't
of try to stretch out my back because you can
get some better angles while in your bed.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Oh, rat, that's fun. Visual I feel myself sometimes, Carolyn,
so you can see it. No, you're giving me a look.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
I think I'm good there. Yeah, I think we're good.
Love love that as an answer, but it's not the
correct one.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
What is the answer? Correct answer?
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Twenty percent of people say they sleep with their socks
on every night.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Ew, my wife is one of that.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
Interesting. I can't do that.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I can't either. I don't like that weird feeling of
socks in your hot.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
Exactly, it's a weird feeling. It's super hot.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Okay, are these twenty percent if anybody listening sleeps with socks?
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Okay? I Gina, have a good day and a good week.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Thank you, Thank you too.
Speaker 7 (18:05):
You always make my day.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
That's so nice. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Yeah, I just there's something about the sock in the
sheet and then you twist. Sure if anybody listening here
wear socks at night eight seven, seven, nine, eight, one
oh nine and one, they're already calling Hi, good morning
the breeze.
Speaker 7 (18:23):
But morning I am calling because I'm one of those
twenty percenters.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Oh right, okay, talk to us about sleeping with socks on.
Speaker 7 (18:33):
So here's my theory. I'm walking around my house with
either house shoes on her bare feet. I'm going to
get in bed, which should be a clean place for
sleep and rest. I have what I call my sleeping socks.
I've got multiple pairs. They're very thin, but that way
I'm not getting my dirty feet in my clean sheets.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
I like this theory. It's pretty smart.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
And it's a thin sock. I think that is a
game changer because a thick sock that's where you still
get in the twisting and turning. But a thin sock,
do you know it's there? Maybe not?
Speaker 1 (19:05):
It's so thin.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
There's my OCD reasoning.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Yeah, we support it to each their own. Thank you,
have a great day at work. Thank you for listening.
What's your first name, Michelle? Michelle?
Speaker 3 (19:16):
All right, thanks a lot. Have a good one you too. Okay,
that was helpful, very insightful. Yeah, Michelle, thank you. All right,
Morning Breeze brain Tease. We do it every weekday morning
at age forty and coming up next here on the
Morning Breeze, we're going commercial free, which means ninety eight
minutes of NonStop, commercial free relaxing favorites. We are looking
forward to that as much as you are. We are
(19:37):
going to do that next here on the Breeze
