The Morning Breeze on Demand, Carolinemccartell, Court Johnson, Good morning,
And if you are living or evenworking or visiting San Francisco soon, just
an fyi for you that there isapparently a fake parking citation scam that's happening.

(00:21):
Have you heard about this? Yeah, was reading about this, and
it's pretty freaky for somebody like me, who I'm one of those people who
I love to follow rules. I'mpassionate about it. Yeah, and so
the thought of walking out and seeinga ticket on my car would freak me
out. Yes, And there's somesome things that these people are doing that
are a little different because normally onscams, like if the way you pay

(00:44):
them, they're like you have togo buy some gift cards and then call
us and give us. That's whenyou know it's a scam. It seems
a little more obvious. They're actuallylosing using a legitimate payment method. They're
using square, Yes, take thesepayments, that's exactly. So they're leaving
these thieves or whatever leaving these parkingtickets on people's cars in the city.
They look like legit parking tickets numberone, number two. There's a QR

(01:07):
code that you scan, then theQR code takes you to a website.
I guess that would be Square orsomething. But you click on this link
and it asks you for a payment. Yeah, but it takes you to
a website that looks exactly like theSFMTA site. So that's where people are
falling for it. Now. Thedifference, and here's how you know it's

(01:29):
fake, is when it takes youto that website SFMTA Parking or website that
ends with a dot com. Thefake website ends with a dot app dot
app, right, So that's howthey know. And I guess they've got
San Francisco Parking Control extra officers outthere that are looking for these tickets on
cars and pulling them off your windshieldif they see that you've got one,

(01:52):
but just be aware if they don'tget to it before you do. Yeah.
No, it's scary because again itgoes to this idea of finding somebody
who might be vulnerable at that moment, because I've been there before. Like
again, I like to follow rules. And somebody called me and said,
hey, you owe me sixty bucks, I'd be like I do. Yeah,
I don't like to get behind inpayments. I don't want to have
to pay a fee if I'm behind, and so they're just prying, you
know, hoping somebody's not paying attention. That's exactly it. And if you're

(02:14):
like me as well, where you'resuper ocd about it. When I get
a ticket, I pay it rightaway because I want it out of my
life. I don't want to thinkabout it, and I certainly don't want
to be late. So for thosepeople, just take a beat. If
you get a ticket in San Francisco, look at it, make sure it's
legit, yeah, because it mightnot be. I think. The other
thing you might want to try onthis too, is like it asks for
the citation number. Yeah, onthe website and the ticket you have as

(02:38):
a citation number. If you're suspect, suspect a little bit, type in
the wrong number and see what itdoes. Oh. Interesting because the bad
website, the website that scamming people, will take any number. And then
I'll be like, yep, youowe us sixty bucks. Oh that might
be good, easy way to doit, because you know, the San
Francisco one will actually say, no, what are you talking about? This
isn't legit. Wow. Good point. Good point on that all right,

(03:00):
