a pretty dismal record since the pandemicand even before that. Actually, they
haven't won a game in four years. Four years. Imagine what that does
to the players mentally, right untilthis past Thursday Night Chord where Oakland High

School beat Highlands High School in Sacramentosixteen to eight, their first victory in
four years. Now, why didthey do it? They've got a new
coach on their team, Coach TerryHendricks Junior, or Coach T as he's
known. He was hired in Aprilto lead the players to victory and he
did just that. And this teamloves their new coach. Going into the

season, everybody was thinking it wasgoing to be the same thing as on
the past years. You though,we weren't going to get a win.
He feeds us every Friday's and whenwe need rides, he gives us rides
and a lot of stuff like that. You know, we do team dinners.
So also I'm like, after practice, he makes sure that we eat.
He makes sure that people has rights. You know, if somebody's hungry,

like after practice, he'll give himmoney. So acts like they can
get somebody eat. You know,He's just always looking up for the kids.
I think what I love most aboutthis is Coach T. What you're
hearing right there is they're not talkingabout the fundamentals that he's teaching them.
He's just concerned with them as peopleexactly. And that's the thing, like
the coach said, Coach T says, I'm available to them, like whatever
they need, I'm here for themon the field and like you said,

off the field, and he said, and once you gain the trust of
these players, then the success comesalong with that. So the parents are
thrilled with coach T. The playersare thrilled with coach Tea, and like,
how happy are you for those kids? Like what that does psychologically to
them when they get that first win, Yeah, it fires them up to
keep going. So welcome Coach Teaand job well done to everybody at Oakland
