Get ready, Blue Devils. This is u W Stout Blue
Devils Football on News Talk wm EQ AM eight eighty

and iHeartRadio. This broadcast have UW Stout Football was brought

Speaker 2 (00:19):
By Bob and Steves, BPMA CO, Stout, Craftco Kitchen and Tabs,
and Wisconsin Credit Union.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Now live from the Max Barger Pressbox at Don and
Nonah Williams Stadium. Here's the Voice of the Blue Devils,
Pete Canowson.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
From Don and Nonah Williams Stadium on the campus So
the University of Wisconsin Stout. We welcome you to Week
two of the WIAC regular season as we gets up
for another big battle in the conference, featuring the nationally
ranked the number eleven uw Oshkosh Titans at three and
one on the season, one to zer one conference, taking
on the UW Stoun Blue Devils, also at.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
One overall one to zero in conference play.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Hello fans, Pekanutsen here live in Menomine, Wisconsin, as we
get set for what should be a great football matchup
here today. The Blue Devils are coming off their tenth
straight win in the war On ninety four series against
u w O.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Clair.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
While it was a dominant win in all three phases
of the game, the Blue Devils are still looking for
a signature win this season and Oshkosh provides that opportunity today,
as last season, Stout went into Titans Stadium and got
a wild walk off field goal to beat the Titans
in Oshkosh for the first time since two thousand and nine.
That win, along with their win over Whitewater last year,
(01:35):
got the Stout name into the national conversation now when
today would likely do the same for Stout in this
pac WIAC race. Today, though, is about respect, as the
Blue Devils may be one of the most overlooked football
programs in the conference and maybe in the country as well,
as their hope is to turn the national pundit's eyes.
I'm a nominee with a signature win here today. Adam
Mohan has been great at the helm of this team
(01:56):
and it will be the aerial tech that he will
hope to push for the Blue Devil to victory here today.
The Titans seem to be back to their normal selves
after a big win against the Caleb Blaja led River
Falls Falcons last week. Oshkosh also has a win against
a Division two opponent. This season, they've retooled this team
to make a push for the conference style of a sport,
(02:17):
a ton of weapons on the offensive side of the ball,
in a defense with a ben don't break mentality, and
they will face a former All WYAC quarterback who played
for the Titans in Kobe Berghammer, who's now the quarterbacks
coach first Stout in what should be an exciting game
with a lot of great storylines here today. It's been
a month since Stout has played a game here at
Donnanoda Williams Stadium, and they have the Mighty Titans in
(02:38):
town to try to get to four and one on
the season. Kickoff is coming up in a bit, but
first we'll pause and come back with the head coach
of the Blue Devils, Clay Birmingham. Right after this on
your home for Blue Devils Football.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
The u W Stout Blue Devils pregame Show continues next

We're back on the Bob and Steeves ppm Aco Shops
pregame show. Now Here's UW stout Head Coach CLAYT Birmingham.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
And head Coach CLAYT.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Birmingham now joins us as we get set for south
taking on Oshcotch. Here in the fifth week of the
season for the Blue Devil's coach, appreciate you taking the
time and plenty to talk about with the war On
ninety four game as you, guys, I'm sure have turned
the page here and are talking about Oshkosh and getting
ready for Oshkosh. But let's talk a little bit about
the game against Eau Claire. You mentioned in the post
game that you know, you feel kind of a sense
(04:30):
of relief when that game is over, right, with all
the hype and distractions and everything like that. Maybe we'll say,
how do you feel now that you have a little
bit of perspective on it one and two in the moment,
how did you feel like your team handled the fact
that there were so many distractions and so many things
that seem like they handle it pretty well.
Speaker 8 (04:49):
Yeah, you know, it is for our team, and there
is a lot of distractions, and there's a lot of
pressure and just from everybody reaching out his arrival and
all the alums care, town, the town cares, and that's
kind of the big game for us.
Speaker 9 (05:04):
I thought our players handling great. You just always you
go in and every team is so different.
Speaker 8 (05:08):
To addressed him this past week about kind of how
we carry ourselves as a team. You know, you have
those teams that are all business and you win and
lose with those teams, and you have a team that's
more loose and has fun and and and you kind
of get a little worried. But their teams win with that, uh,
the identity or and lose with that identity too. So
(05:30):
this is a different a little different team. We're pretty loose.
We we have fun. The guys enjoy each other. It's
a it's a fun culture. But you don't want to
you want to get it too loose, right, So you know,
our guys took in stride and thought they went in
there and took care of business.
Speaker 9 (05:44):
And do what they needed to do.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah, not only that, but you guys have gotten some
great contribution. It's easy to look at Devonte Evans and
what he did in that game with those catches in
the second half.
Speaker 10 (05:55):
But one guy that I.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Think that's really stood out for you from an offensive standpoint,
addition to obviously with Adam Moones done, is Chandler Ross
Right in the running back game. It just feels like
he gives you kind of a real solid presence, a
real kind of calming presence back there. He's a big back,
he can power through things, got some good speed as well.
What's it been like to have him because he seems
like he's kind of, you know, kind of made your
(06:17):
running back for maybe a little bit more stable or
a little bit more of kind of like the typical
Clay Birmingham running game that you like to run.
Speaker 9 (06:25):
Yeah, he's he's a bigger back.
Speaker 8 (06:27):
You know, when you look at your running backs, you
kind of want to have a little diversity there with
you know, quick guys and jitterbugs to slashers to just
a big back. And in the past couple of years,
we really haven't had that much and we've been getting
banged up. So we want to look in this year
and Chandler's on, We got this year remaining right. He's
a transfer that came in is this is the only
(06:47):
year you'll play with us, but you kind of filled
that hole for now until we can recruit and find
some younger backs that are more of that style.
Speaker 9 (06:55):
You know, he's he's doing a great job.
Speaker 8 (06:58):
You know, I'd still like him to have our ball
security and lower hist pad level at times, but that'll
come with with reps and with games and just getting
used to our team.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
You know, you look at your squad in terms of
you haven't been at home basically for a month, right,
you know since that Warpburg game, are the guys kind
of itching at the bit to get back in front
of their home crew because it seems like, you know,
they've been obviously wanting to do that and get back
to kind of the quote unquote normal or the home
prep of a week that you usually have.
Speaker 9 (07:29):
Yeah, it's always fun to play. I mean fun to
play at home.
Speaker 8 (07:32):
We got all one hundred guys on the sideline, not
just sixty or sixty five.
Speaker 9 (07:36):
So yeah, I mean we're looking forward to it.
Speaker 8 (07:39):
I think the energy, the familiarity that we sleep in
our own beds and just not having to travel and
get out of bus. I think it's just more friendly
tenerary leading up to the game.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Where does your prep start with a team like ash Gosh,
because they've got a I think you mentioned it last
week as well, that you know, every team in this
league was this kind of a really unique challenge, and
it seems like they do with a quarterback situation where
you got Quinton Keane, but you got this guy in
a J. Corth who can play quarterback. He can run,
he can receive, he can get all over the place
up from from a defensive standpoint, as you prepare for
(08:14):
this offense, there's just a lot of weapons and a
lot of a lot of crazy stuff that Oscott can do.
So how do you prep for that in a week
like this week?
Speaker 8 (08:22):
Yeah, you kind of take what's different and what's going
to be what's going to give you problems and you
kind of focus on that first. Some of the base plays.
I mean, we see him in our league and we
know how to fit them. And so it's just every
week when you go through the game plan and you
just kind of look at what different stuff did they do?
How we're gonna defend it? What when you do put
(08:43):
some new scheme in or you know, can old scheme
kind of you know defend it.
Speaker 9 (08:49):
And that's really about it.
Speaker 8 (08:50):
And that's doesn't just a matter of once you got
to that scheme, you're trying to get too much on
the player's play to try to keep it simple so
they play.
Speaker 9 (08:57):
Fast, uh, and then you just go implement it.
Speaker 8 (09:00):
And you know, Tuesday and Wednesday practices are huge because
either you keep it or you get rid of it.
If you don't like it if it's not working, and
you kind of but by the time you get to Thursday,
Hays and the Barn and you kind of kind of
lock into a scheme that's going to work. And then
Friday's just refining that and playing on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
He's of the game against Oscosh. What do you guys
need to do obviously against a really good team, you know,
a top fifteen team in the country when you're at
home against them, And obviously got that win last year
against them there at Oscosh, But what do you have
to do to get that win against them here this weekend?
Speaker 9 (09:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (09:31):
I think if you look, the most of the rest
of our games are going to be the same scenario.
It's just gonna be a just revolving door with good
teams coming through the door. But you know, it just
it's all about take care of the football. It's a
hollible field position. It's literally can you get some takeaways?
It goes back to the same basic things on how
(09:53):
you win football games.
Speaker 9 (09:55):
And we got to do that. I mean, are all
three fastest of the game.
Speaker 8 (09:58):
You got to play good these good teams, but they're
all going to be good from here on out.
Speaker 9 (10:03):
You know, this is a big game for us. We're
not trying to hide it. Uh, you know we're both
three and ones.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
Yeah, if we face the ranking team, but you know,
being a couple of ranked teams last year, that doesn't matter.
It's just we are this This team just wants to
respect that we think we deserve. You know, we kind
of kind of got a slap in the face last
year when you go in you beat a couple of
ranked teams and then they're still ranking.
Speaker 9 (10:24):
You're not. So I think we get disrespected at Stout.
Speaker 8 (10:29):
I think people just heavily rely on tradition, and in
college football now it doesn't matter about tradition anymore because
with the transfer portal and NILS and you see that
every level it's new teams. You know, for the most
part Division three maybe not as much, but you never
know when you that next year. Going from one year
to the next, it's, uh, it's kind of like playing
(10:51):
in junior college if you will, you know, it's you
never know what they had until until they roll out
that next year.
Speaker 9 (10:58):
What kind of bodies and different athletes.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
All right, gonna be exciting.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
We appreciate taking the time as always.
Speaker 9 (11:03):
Coach all right man.
Speaker 7 (11:05):
Thanks be our thanks to head coach Clayton Birmingham for

This is UW Stout Football on News Talk wm.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
EQ Welcome back in here to u W Stout and
to Don and Ona William Stadium as we get set
for football here between Stout and u W Oshkosh. Happy
to have you along with us on the w i
a C Sports Network and on News down w EQ
AMA and any one O six point three FM and
iHeartRadio station again Pekanuts and with you. A special thanks
(12:44):
to Josh and his great crew for bringing you the
sites and the sounds here on the wi a C
Sports Nework in the Dan Prices back on our radio side,
our producer there and doing a great job as he
always does well.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
Like we said, these two teams matched up.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
They Stout had not had a win against Oshkosh in
the series against them since twenty ten until they beat
him last year. Last time they had won at Oshkosh
was two thousand and nine. A last second field goal
that Luke Cool last year he hit a field goal.
There was a penalty on the Blue Devils on the
field goal. Then he had to kick another one to
win it at the buzzer and the ball barely made
(13:20):
it over the bottom crossbar to get through, but he
got it in and it was one of the big
wins of the season for the uwus Sound Blue Devils.
I'll hope for something similar here today and as we
think about how they can get that win, let's take
a look at the starting lineups for the Blue Devils
here today and offensively, they will come out with their
senior and Adam Mohen out of Lake Mills, who is
(13:41):
throwing at fifty nine point one percent on the season,
eight hundred and sixty yards on the year, not six
touchdowns five interceptions for him, He's also rushed for one
hundred and eighty nine yards and four touchdowns. Chase Hughes
is the starting tailback, but expect to see a lot
of Chandler Ross as well. He was at just fifty
eight yards on the season, Ross with one hundred and
fifty four on the ground this year. The receivers are
(14:02):
Devonte Evans as well as Avron Carter. Keon Maggot gets
to start over. Kate tap and Tappan is nursing an
injury right now, so the freshman in Maggot will get
the start. Has a touchdown receiving, but it was a
great week last week for Evans with two touchdowns. He's
got four on the year in three hundred and two
yards through the air. Carter two hundred and thirty six
yards of the touchdown for him as well. Mason Frank
(14:22):
is the tight end and does not have a touchdown
yet this season. Up on the line, the Blue Devils
offensive line looks like what it did when they first
started the season, so they are getting over some injuries
and have the main crew back in their Ben Bissel,
Sam Britt, TJ. Scott, Andrew David and Don't Mondo the
starters for the Blue Devils on offense. Defensively, they will
line up as follows. It'll be that three four defense
(14:44):
for Stout. Matt Blank is down on the bottom of
the line for the Blue Devils along with Abe Helsel
and Daniel Walker. The linebackers are Drew Sure, Cole Sanger,
Blaine Sidel, and Gabe Kram. Again missing a couple guys here.
Drew Schneider, Bracks and Money Kais and are probably the
(15:05):
two names that we that you're most likely to know
that you won't see today because of injury. The Goodman
brothers are in the secondary. Dawson Goodman is strong safety,
Gavin Goodman at one of the corners, brooks Bury the
All American at the other safety, and Jesse Ellis is
the other corner for the Blue doubles today, the Osh
Gosh Titans squad lines up as follows today. Quentin Keene
is the quarterback. Six touchdowns, two interceptions for him on
(15:27):
the season, eight hundred and twenty nine yards for him
on the year. Doug Person is the tailback. Ben Velevsky
will be the other guy who factors in there to fact,
Bleski has two hundred and sixty two yards on the
ground compared to Berson's eighty one on the ground.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
Now. A. J. Corth is the backup running back.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
However, backup quarterback excuse me, however, he's got one hundred
and forty six yards on the ground ninety five yards
through the air. He is a versatile weapon for this
Titans team. We'll see a lot of him throughout the day. London,
Little John Matthew and Hunter Gibson are officially the starters
at the Rowande receivers. Clayton Shwalby is the tight end
and up on the line. There have been some shuffling
(16:05):
up there and there's a lot of injuries, so we'll
see how that works out today. Sam Warner, Edwin Bilk,
Tommy Parrip, Josiah and Nathaniel and Chris Hag is the
one guy we know for sure who's going to be
the starter for Trey Pearson at the right tackle spot
here today. Defensively, a couple of really good players, a
lot of really good players, i should say for Oshkosh
on that defensive side, including Kyle Dietson in the middle
(16:27):
at linebacker for this squad, Curtis, Jess Kolk, cj Relias,
Jack's Rattogik are the two three men up front. Rather
Kellen Wright, Kyle Dietson, Kenny Sattori and Jake Shutter are
the linebackers. Tay Derrico and Shrever Bars are the two cornerbacks.
(16:47):
Chad Gerig and Ben Wellhofer are the safeties for the Titans.
Cleave Birmingham coaches the Blue Devils in his sixteenth season.
He's sixty three and eighty one. The head coach of
the Oshkosh Titans is Peters in his fourth season.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
He is twenty one and thirteen at the helm of
the Titans.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
As you watch it home on the WIAC Sports Network,
you see the Blue Devils about to take the field
from the locker room. They're wearing the blue tops with
the white helmets, white pants. They've got the sledgehammer, They've
got the Blue Devil pitchfork, they've got the American flag.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
They don't have the War On ninety four trophy.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
That's right back in the trophy case for the tenth
straight year, and the Titans will take the field here
in a moment as well as we get set for
all the festivities coming to you from Donnana Williams Stadium.
Should be an exciting one again Stout looking for a
little national recognition. This is gonna you feel like this
is gonna be a close game throughout the contest. We'll
(17:40):
see if it ends up being that way, but man,
this is one of those where Scout's got a real
chance to make a name for themselves this season, Jessee.
If they're able to do it, is Jay Fall welcomes
the Blue Devils to the field. So there you have it.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Ben Tolkien and taking that sledgehammer out of the field.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Havn't some fun with bad Dawson Goodman with the Blue
Devil pitchfork for stout as they head on out.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Oshkosh has traveled well here today.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
They've got a good chunk of fans down below us
again from eastern Wisconsin, and again they will, I'm sure
make a lot of noise here this afternoon as well.
Your head referee today is Jared Letter, Your umpire is
Ryan Townsend. The headline judge Cold Tappy, The line judge
is Dean Kackleman. The field judge Stephanie Lahay, the side
judge Corey Clark. The back judge is Pusche or An Odd.
(18:37):
And the Blue Devils are ready for the anthem here
taking the line on the near side. Ashcots still not
out of the locker room as of yet. The annual
Oaklair versus Lacrosse game that is aired on WQOWNWXOW in
Lacrosse got underway at eleven thirty this morning. Lacrosse leeds
Oak Claire twenty seven to seven. At halftime of that game,
(18:59):
Bill taking out River in a Top twenty five matchup.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Me and Steven's point hosting Whitewater. Those are the other games.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Those games tip off and kickoff at one o'clock this
afternoon as well. We have hit one o'clock and it
is time to let you know that you are listening
to us here on new Shot WMQAMA eighty ME nominee Translator,
W two nine to two, e g O Player one
on six point three FM and iHeartRadio station and happy
to have you along with us on the WIAC Sports
(19:26):
Network as well. Looking forward to what should be an
exciting game here between Oscosh and Stout this afternoon. Oshkosh
in the white uniforms of black helmets, they got the
gold pants with white and black trimmed down the side
to those it should be what we're at least ready
for a big time game between these two two teams
(19:49):
here today. Oshkosh looking for revenge from what happened last year.
Stout looking to make a name for themselves here in
twenty twenty five. Last year they did it when they
beat UW Whitewater and it was UW Oshkosh's win. Then
the win against oshcotsh It kind of sets out up
for a chance to win the conference against UW Plattville
(20:10):
three and the last game of the season, but they
unfortunately lost that game, ended up playing in the Isthmus
Bowl and we're unable to get the win that they
needed to in that to get to the NCAA tournament.
In that game against black Bill went to the Isthmus Bowl,
lost there, and so trying to rebuild it. Here today
(20:30):
and here in twenty twenty five are the Blue Doves
video board working. We got highlights, we got excitement here
between Stout and Oshkosh. Looking forward as well. Joe Dank
will be our guest at halftime. He is a longtime
YAT contributor and writer who's writing a book on the Wiacs.
They're looking forward to talking to him at halftime as well.
(20:52):
So should be a full on D three WIAC type
of game here throughout this contest. Looking forward to it,
that is for sure. Highlight Vitty almost up. We got
old school highlights, so you got new school highlights. You
got all the good stuff. The old green astro turf
bear at Williams Stadium, a looqu or two toward old
Nelson Field as well that we can see from the
(21:12):
press box, and we're ready for some UW Stout football
here This afternoon. All right, let's listen into our PA
announcer Jay Fall, as we get seven for the national
Anthem here from Donna Nona Williams Stadium.
Speaker 13 (21:25):
At this time, we asked you to please stand as
you were able and remove your hats and headwear as
we honor America with the playing of our national anthem, the.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
National anthem here from donnan On Williams Stadium, and look
toward Johnson Fieldhouse on our video stream. Too far away
from the start of basketball season as well, but a
beautiful brisk fall day here in the middle of October,
about sixty one degrees at game time. There is a
chance of some win that could affect us today, but
(23:22):
for the most part, it's pretty calm down there, especially
in comparison to last week at Carson Park when the
wind was a big factor in that game. All right,
the captains will take to midfield here and we will
get the coin toss from Jared Letter, the referee in
just a moment.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
We will do our best to listen into it again.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
Not no PA fee today due to some technical difficulty,
so we will listen in as best we can and
see what the Blue Devils and the Titans designed to
do here to start this game, Stout. They are looking
forward to a trip to uw A. Whitewater next week,
a Friday night game. We'll talk more about that throughout
(24:02):
the core course of our contest today. It's going to
be a short turnaround week, so stout hoping for the
win and hoping to stay healthy and get ready for
that game against Whitewater next week. Jared Letter has given
the instructions here to both teams. See if we can
listen in here to the coin toss.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Turn that music down. There we go.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Week one.
Speaker 9 (24:25):
Here, we have a head. Here, we have a tail.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
I've got you the visitors, what's your fall tales? Has
been called walk calls? It is in the tail.
Speaker 14 (24:49):
I've got they defer their choice in.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
The second half. Alright, there you have it.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
They receiving there.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
It will be uh Why, to be honest with you,
I just missed it because we've better having a little
bit of things being shuffled around up here, and so
we will get ready for the kickoff here in just
a moment, like three things going on at once there
all of a sudden, But we should get ready for
football and be ready to go here in just a
few moments as Stout hopes to go to four and
(25:23):
one on the season. Again, team last year that had
so many great opportunities. They had that big lead that
they had against CW. River Falls at halftime of their
game and then ended up losing that one that kind
of set the season down. But man, yeah, going back
through last season, Stout had so many chances to have
more wins, and they had plenty of wins last year
(25:44):
as well, And again I think this is one of
those games where they feel like if they can knock
off Osh, gosh it, those sky's a limit for what
they can do this year. All right, ready to go.
The Blue Devils will receive. They'll move left to right,
from the north to the south. The wind will be
into them a little bit. Whatever wind is there, it's
not terribly strong. As we get ready for the kickoff,
here from uw Oshkosh. Ready for the kickoff. The kick
(26:06):
will come from Dominic Borges. Week five. Here we go downfield.
It goes toward Joejoe James. He's got it at the
six yard line. He back bobbles it. Now picks it
up at the ten fifteen, looking for a hold of
the twenty and down near the twenty five yard line,
Jojo James with the return and an injury quickly here
is Oshkosh has a man down back at the twenty
(26:27):
yard line, and he'll get ten to to here in
just a moment. As we are five seconds in to
the start of the game. Stout an Oshkosh Jojo James
with about a nineteen yard return to start. The game's
well be far off. But when they want to reset
the clock here, reset the game clock or play clock,
(26:48):
excuse me, not the game clock, and so quick injury
kind of quells the excitement. Good crowd on hand stands
pretty full. Nown we're below us here as the Blue
Devils tailgate going earlier today, the smells in that parking lot,
we're awfully good.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
On the way in.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
There was a soccer game earlier that just got done
over at Nelson Field, So plenty of things happening here
throughout Menominee today. It should be an exciting one as
they're still looking at this ashcotsh titan down on the
field here at the twenty yard line, right in the
middle of the hash marks fourteen fifty five. Here it
(27:27):
in the first quarter. Stat with their first drive and
the Titan who was down on that play was Josh Greno,
sophomore linebacker. It'll be helped off. He as the backup
linebacker to Kellen Wright in the depth charts. So already
Oshkosh team is banged up. I think if there's a
concern if you're an Oshcosh fan going into this game
(27:48):
and said, this team is injured. They've got some injuries
on the offensive line, They've got some defensive guys who
were hurt, and so they're playing a little bit undermanned,
especially being on the road as well. As we are
ready to go the twenty five yard line on the
near hash mark Adam Mowen in the pistol formation and
he's got Chandler Ross as his tailback and he'll send
two receivers left, two tight ends right, and so he
(28:11):
awaits the snap from his center TJ. Scott, and it
is a hand off to Ross up the gut. Counters
now take some contact bowls right off a defender down
to the thirty yard line. A nice job taking the
contact well and just kind of rolling off the initial
tackle of Trevor Bars. It's a five yard game to
the thirty yard line and that's what Ross will give you,
just a nice strong run and Chase Hughes now comes
(28:33):
in as the tailback. So despite Hughes being the official starter,
it was Ross to get the first snap in the
first carry. As we are underway, now's score here between
Stout and Oshcott. Surely on from Donnooa Williams Stadium, thirty
yard line. For Stout, they'll send a Hughes in motion
out to the left. Carter is now the tailback off
to the left of Mowen. Now Carter will also go
in motion off to the left side. Three receivers over there.
(28:56):
Mowen back to pass, looks right, nothing there. Looking over
the middle, He's got plenty of time. I'm gonna roll
out to his left, looks downfield, pumps, cuts, spins toward
the marker, and he's gonna be able to half a
yard short of the first down. Gets just past the
thirty four yard line on the scramble to be third
and one here for the blue levels the scramble to
his left. Had to make a cut, Kenny, He's dine
(29:17):
a nice job to make a play, but unable to
pick up the first down. Kenny Story, who has twenty
three total tackles on the year. Made the stop and
it's third and one. Wood Devil's on third down this season,
converting at thirty eight percent of the time, seventeen to
forty four. One receiver left, one right, two tight ends right.
Ross is the tailback. I believe he is.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
He'll counter right.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
He gets hit in the backfield, he's pushed backwards and
he's not anywhere close. He got a two yard loss.
Get great penetration into the backfield there by Ben Wolhoe
for the safety who comes in, it'll be the punt
unit out for Stout.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
Just a bad play there.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
You can just feel like Oscosh was loading up the
box they were expecting run. Stout didn't have a lot
of trickery there. It was just a straight run ahead
and Ross was hitting the back feel almost right as
he got the ball for a two yard loss. Fourth
and three for the Blue Devils with thirteen oh three
to go here in this first quarter, and still will punt,
and they will punt into the wind with Brady Prevy
(30:13):
thirty eight point eight yards per kick for him. John
matthew an apartment. Jackson Brush is back to return as
Prev gets it away. Good spiraler here to the far
sideline and it will be received at the twenty three
and hit immediately there and drop backwards is Jackson Brush
looking for progress to the twenty one yard line. That
(30:34):
is a great kick into the wind for Brady Prevy,
and that is exactly what the Blue Devils we're looking for.
It's a forty seven yard punts for Brady Prevy and
great job there by the Blue doubles to get him
back to the twenty one yard line, and that is
where the Titans will take over. So at quarterback it
(30:58):
is Quentin Keene, the senior who's s sixty one percent
completion on the season.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Doesn't run a ton.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
He's only got thirty four yards in his first four
games and one rushing touchdown, six touchdowns and two interceptions.
He's got two receivers left and one out to the
right on the far hash mark. He takes the snaphands
off right side, looking for a whole not a lot,
twenty two, maybe the twenty three. On the handoff to
Doug Person, there are whistles, but for a moment there
might be a flag with all those extra whistles, but
(31:25):
just a two.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Yard run to the right side. Looked like Drew Shore
was there.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
As well, Sayger, there a number of blue devils in
blue jerseys knocking him backwards. A two yard game. It's
second and eight at the twenty three yard line. Twelve
ten left to play first quarter and then no score
here between Stout and Oshkosh. I think this is kind
of they's the under the radar game. It's probably the
(31:52):
second most looked at game this weekend in the WIAC.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
Handoff to Burson right side, he's.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
In the backfield and drop drop for a one yard loss,
maybe a two yard loss. Dawston Goodman was on the
top of it. At the bottom of it was Matt
Blank and he'll get him second tackle for loss of
the season. Also there Gabe Kramer and back to the
original line of the twenty one a two yard loss
on the play and it's third and ten here for
Osh Gush again. That Platteville game today against River Falls.
(32:23):
I think the top one is the two top twenty
five teams, but this is probably your next most competitive,
most interesting matchup, I think in the WIAC this weekend.
There's ten seconds left on the plate clock. Here, two
receivers left to right on the far hash Mark Keene
in the shotgun takes the handoff back to pass, steps up.
He gets away from the pressure initially and he will
(32:44):
be pushed out of bounds. After about a two yard game,
they are there flags, no, there aren't goes out of
bounds to the twenty three on a scramble of the
right side, chased down on the play by Walker Viral,
tackle by Matt Blank said, Blank got the tackle as
we look like Viral was the man who was there
for the Blue Devils. But regardless, in say two yard game,
(33:05):
it's fourth and eight and O shcotsh he's gonna have
to bunt and we get a little field position game.
And this is exactly what coach talked about to play
Birmingham in our pregame show. He said it's gonna be
a field position game. He had a feeling like it
could be a defensive struggle early on something that Stout
is that Stout is. You know, they've had kind of
(33:25):
some slow starts offensively, and then second half they really
get after it is Stout bringing the pressure. There is contact,
there's a flag. Rather Avron Carter gets it at the
thirty three looking for some moves and he can't break
a tackle. He's down at the thirty five. This is
a five yard running into the kicker, not a roughing
the kicker, and so it's a matter of whether they
want to rekick this or they want to add it
(33:46):
to the end of the run. But Jared Letter immediately
was saying that it was a five yard running into
and not a roughing the kicker, which is a good
thing for the Blue Devils. Ten twenty one left to play,
first quarter, no score here. Between Stout and Peter Jennings
is probably going why is it not fifteen yards?
Speaker 4 (34:05):
He said.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
I think he's pointing at his chin right now, saying, hey,
he got hit in the chin. I mean it was
it was a body contact, but you can tell that
the Blue Devil that made the contact was trying to
pull up at the last second when he knew he
didn't get there. And I think that's why they call
it running into the kicker. He didn't just go for
a straight up rush. And I think they're gonna kick
this one again.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
Let's see.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Running into the kicker. They didn't give us a number
of who it was, but it is running into and
they are going to replay this down now. Maybe. I mean,
you're you're deep in your own territory. But that makes
it fourth and three instead of fourth and eight at
the twenty eight yard line. So you know, don't don't
be surprised if Oshkosh does something a little tricky here.
(34:52):
I mean they had Carter down at the thirty five,
so I mean maybe with the wind at their back,
they feel like they can get this ball a little
deeper downfield as well. It is still the punt unit
out there, and it is John Abernathy back to punt
standing in his own fifteen yard line. Carter at his
own thirty four line of scrimmage is at twenty eight.
They'll get it away. No rush this time. Carter has
(35:14):
it at the thirty one, looking for a movie missus
a tackler initially to the thirty five, then down here
the thirty seven. So on a six yard return, another whistle,
and this is a player down behind the play for Oscotch.
Is that the same guy who's down in the special teams?
I think it is like that spring got a part
me Grinno again. Forreno, is I believe that is still him?
Speaker 8 (35:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (35:39):
It is the case.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
He was hurt on the first special teams play the game,
and now he's hurt again, and I'd imagine they got
to do a little bit more looking at him in
the tent over on the sideline. So with ten eleven
left to play or in the first quarter, there's no
score between Stout and Oshkosh, so it'll be a full
(36:09):
receiver set. Here five receivers left, two to the right
for Adam Mohen in the shotgun ball at the thirty
seven yard line of their own thirty seven Here for
Stout on the far hash mark. Second drive of the game.
Both teams have not got in the offenses going yet.
It's Aaron Williams in motion left to right across the formation,
mowing back to pass three man rush. He looks no pressure,
he throws over the middle, catch made by Williams and
(36:31):
he's across the forty and down. Hear the forty five
yard line. An eight yard gain and a lot of
extra running there. And that was not Williams, part of me.
Dawsin Verra the freshman with the catch, and it'll be
a total of eight yards. It was about a five
yard yards after catch situation for him. They're just caught
that at about the forty just past the line of scrimmage,
(36:51):
made a quick move, got five extra. It's second and
two here for Stout at their own forty five yard line.
Nine thirty eight left to play here in the first quarter.
No score between Stout and Oshkosh receivers bunched up near
the formation. Mohen throws it out left. Catch made by
Carter at the fifties hit out of bounds immediately. It's
(37:12):
a five yard game though in a first down Trevor
barr Is on the tackle and the Blue Devils will
move the chains for the first time here today, first
first down of the game for either team. Not a
lot of yards to speak of yet give Stout twenty
offensive yards thus far, and it's first and ten here
(37:33):
for Stout, right at the fifty yard line, moving left
to right. As you listen to them and watch them
at home, from the north to the south, Chase Hughes
is going to split out as a receiver to the right.
Hughes has to get back on the line. I don't
think they have the right number of guys on the
line here.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
No, they do.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Mowen back to pass over the middle, catch made by Carter.
Five yard game Again, they're just taking what the defense
gives them right now, just kind of soft zone and
Carter and others just kind of finding the space right
over the middle, and they get second and five. Carter
making that quick catch right near the far hash mark
(38:08):
second and five for Stout at the forty five of
Oshkosh and into the wind garrison Jackman, you'd imagine you
need to get probably to the twenty five to feel
comfortable with a field goal for him. He hasn't had
a lot of attempts yet, can look cool the All
American kicker graduating last year.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
For Stout, one.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Receiver left, two to the right, hugheses a tailback on
second and five, and they will hand it to him.
No another flea flicker. They're gonna try it again. Mowen's
gonna go deeper. Evans down the middle. It's up and
it is incomplete with a file a flag on the play.
It's Ted Garrig right over the top. It was underthrown.
Evans had to come back for it and Garrig ran
(38:45):
right through him. Mate contact. This will be fifteen yards
in a first down. Here for the Blue doubles. Here
comes Jared Letter in j New York County.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
All right, so it is you're gonna call that on
Tate Derreko.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
It looked like Garrek made more of the contact to me,
but regardless, there were two Titans down there with him.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Now Evan's had him beat.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
If Mowen gets the ball there, it's a touchdown, but
it was underthrown, probably due to some of the win
that's existing up there as you get that ball high
in the air. That moved the ball up to the
thirty yard line. First down here for the Blue Devils.
No score between Oshkosh and Stout. Ball at the thirty
of the Titans. Owen's gonna send Jojo James in motion.
Now he's a tailback back there. Mowen gonna run it
(39:30):
himself up the gut to the twenty five. Pushed back
and he gets a nice run right up the middle
air does Adam Moan on the quarterback keeper a five
yard game to the twenty five. It's second and five
here for Stout. Was seven fifty three left to go
in the first Chandler Ross checking into the game for
Avron Carter. See Jojo James came back as kind of
(39:50):
a decoy tailback in motion came into the backfield Mowen
look like he was gonna hand it to him to
the left, and then Mowen just decided to run right
up the middle for five yard yards. He got a
good scrambler. A good runner is Adam Mowen. Of course,
Oshkosh coming off a game where they had to definitely
be aware of that with Caleb Blaja, so they're used
to second week in a row having a running quarterback
(40:13):
mowing back to passing. The shotgun looking over the middle
launches this one up and it is incomplete. James was
held onto and there's another flag. Trevor Barrs is gonna
get called for Passingterparence. It looked like he had a
hand right up in the horse collar, kind of playing
pulling Jojo James backward. That'll be another fifteen yards and
this should be first and goal from the ten. Here's
(40:36):
the call four. It is passing appearance on the defense
number four. Trevor bars and that should put the ball
right at the ten. They will drop the chains. It's
first and goal for Stout at the ten yard line
into the red zone, and they have been great in
the red zone this season. They are fourteen of eighteen
and fourteen. Those fourteen scores, thirteen of them have been
touchdowns this year. For the Blue Doubles, three receivers go
(40:59):
out to the right, the balls on the far hashmark
here for Mowen, two tight ends lined up on the
left side. It's an empty backfield. Now he's gonna send
the tight ends in motion. One stays left, one goes right.
So everybody loaded up on the right side.
Speaker 4 (41:11):
Of the field.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
Here Mowen looking right, wants to run, trying to bounce
it out left side. He sprints to the five and
then he'll just go out of bounds. He just was
not able to find the whole good job, just kind
of ushering him out of bounds on the far sideline
by Trevor Bars. He will get five of it though.
It's second and goal from the five yard line here
with seven oh seven to go in the first quarter
and no score between South and Osh Gosh. Week two
(41:35):
with the WYAC regular season and the Blue Devils moving
the ball well on this drive. Sount now with a
total of forty yards in the game and a good
drive here that started back at their own thirty seven.
Three receivers of the right again, one tight end left,
one right after some motion here under seven minutes to go,
first quarter, second and goal from the five. Mowen takes
(41:57):
the snap, rolls right, looking toward the end zone. He
throws to James, catch made into the end zone, and
a flag on the play late it's a touchdown for now?
Is it offensive pass interparance? I have a feeling it
might be the back judge through it tyuscheranad and all
on a second, six point thirty five left to go,
(42:18):
first quarter, and I think this one's coming back after
apparence offense one DeVante Evans called for pass interference and
in college football it's a fifteen yard penalty, not a
ten yard penalty like it is in the NFL. On
offense and DeVante Evans is asking what did I do
(42:39):
on that play? Unfortunate for him, I think he just
kind of cut in and he ran into the defender
of Jojo James as kind of the pick play there
and a matter of whether he actually made it or
was trying to make the pick or he's just trying
to run a route, and that's where the officials kind
of have to have that judgment, and the judgment went
against the Blue Devils in that situation, so that pushes
out all the way back to the twenty yard line.
(43:01):
But it's still second and goal here for the Blue
Devils from the twenty, so that just a drive killer
right now. Stout's got to find the right play to
get into the end zone. Ross is the tailback off
to the right of Mowen on second and goal from
the twenty. Fake the handoff to him, he steps back,
now steps up, looking toward the end zone. He launches
it up for Carter. It's intercepted. Intercepted in the back
(43:21):
of the end zone for a touchback. That's Ben Weelhoffer again,
who has come up.
Speaker 14 (43:25):
Big here for.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
The Titans, and just a ill advise pass from Adam
Mohen trying to find Carter in the back of the
end zone. And what a swing from a moment where
you thought Stout went up six to nothing. They turn
it over on the next play, well Hayfer does a
great job to step in and make the interception his.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
Second of the year. It is just the fourth of
the season for this.
Speaker 3 (43:54):
Titan team, and they bring it out to the twenty
on a touchback six to twenty eight left to play.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
First Chord, I mean that is you know what's going
to happen on this drive.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
But it's at least a seven point swing after the
penalty on that pass interference offensive pass interference call. If
Titans go down and score, I suppose you could call
it a fourteen point swing.
Speaker 4 (44:14):
But man, that could be a huge play in this game.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Titans will give the handoff to the right now, they'll
keep it himself, thrown out right side. Catch made at
the twenty and to the twenty three the twenty five.
He's a receiver out here. From that pass, Keene out
to the edge. Good job finding John Matthew for five
yards of the twenty five yard line. At second and five,
Stout had aj Hogan out on the edge. He looked
(44:37):
like he almost jumped the rock, but he was getting
blocked by the other receiver, Land London Little, who was
out there as well and kind of like a pop
receiver screenplay. AJ Corth is the tailback. He's also the
backup quarterback along with Quinton Keene. Five forty eight left
to play here in the first quarter, no score between
(44:59):
Stout and Oscotch. Will fake the handoff to courth back
to pass looking right nothing. They're hit from behind and
it is still over the middle and caught across the
forty five and up here the forty seven yard line
goes Jackson Brush. How Stout didn't get a hand on
that ball on Keene's kind of cock back there and
throw forward.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
He just got that pass off and Brush made the
catch over the middle up to the forty six yard
line for a first down. That's a a twenty one
yard game first down. Oshcosh at their own forty six
yard line. Ball in the middle of the hash mark
five thirteen left to play here in quarter one, no
score between Stout and Oshcosh. First and ten for the Titans,
(45:38):
two receivers left to right. Man in motion is Matthew.
They'll fake the handoff to Matthew Keen back to pass.
He's got a man wide open left side. He caught it,
but he had to go down to make the catch
of the fifteen yard line, Hunter Gibson. Stout's defense just
broke down on that play, and it'll be a first
and goal from the fifteen yard line. Sixteen is rogel
markhum officially big time game. Stout's defense gotta locket back
(46:08):
in here. Oshcosh with all the momentum moving forward. After
a rough way to end that drive for the Blue Doubles,
thought they had the touchdown, got called back on offensive
pass interference. Throw the interception the next play and Oshkosh
is marching right down the field. Two receivers right, two left,
and a whistle and a timeout for Peter Jennings. With
four to twenty left to play here in the first
(46:29):
quarter and no score between Stout and oshcotsh let's say quick.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
Thirty second rank. We'll come back right after this here
on the WIAC Sports Networks.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
It's the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
This is UW Stout football on Newscock wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
He welcome back in here to UW Stout and Dona
know o Williams Stadium.
Speaker 4 (47:22):
Is a no score between Stout and Oshkosh.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
But after two drives, the first two drives for each team,
first drive for each team, it kind of went to nothing.
After a couple of three and outs, the Blue Devils
and the Titans hope putting together drives. The Blue Devils
so unable to score on there's an oscotch now is
knocking on the door in the red zone at the
sixteen yard line. First at ten four twenty left to go,
first quarter, Still no score between Oscosh and Stout. Here
(47:50):
in this ballgame, it is keen in the shotgun. The
senior quarterback, two receivers right, two to the left, takes
the snap. Stout doesn't have any pressure. Now they come
after him. Now I look for them. Now I spin
them down. I'll be a yard loss. As hunter Scape
comes in and gets the sack and a one yard
loss back to the seventeen yard line, his first sack
of the season.
Speaker 4 (48:07):
This Blu Devil's team at eleven sacks.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
Coming into the game, hunter Scape with a play stepping
up out of the line backing crew as they brought
four on that play. Stout will have a line change
literally up on the defensive line. Jacob Didle dre bourns
Matt Blank on the defensive line for Stout. One receiver right,
one left, second and eleven from the seventeen yard line
(48:31):
of Stout. For Oshcotch, two tight ends up on the line.
They send the man in motion at schwallby across the formation.
Lots of movement man. This will be a false start.
About three guys moved there thinking the snap was coming,
could have given it to anybody. They'll give it to
Edwin Belk and that will move him back another five yards.
(48:54):
So make it second and sixteen now for Oshkosh moves
them out of the red zone. This is a red
zone up tunity though this year for Oshcosh eleven out
of thirteen in terms of scoring in the red zone.
Of those eleven scores, eight of them are touchdowns. One
receiver left, two to the right. Tailback is bursting offset
(49:14):
to the right of Keen, sends a man in motion
across the formation. Keen fakes the hand up, looks right,
now looks over the middle, steps up, throws the back
of the end zone.
Speaker 4 (49:22):
It's up, deflected and in complete.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
Two blue devils there they were trying to find a
jump ball for the backup tight end, killing Mela Mella
and it was Brewer there along with Jesse Ellis to
get the deflection and it's third and sixteen. Good defense
from the Blue Devils that time, Oshcosh look into the sideline.
Here they've got Keen looking for the play Brucewell. Three
(49:48):
to seventeen left to play. First quarter, no score between
Stout and oshkotch wind at the back of the Titans
at the moment. Two receivers right, one left, third and sixteen.
They need to get to the six yard line for
a first down. Back to Pasco's Keene. Here comes the pressure,
steps up, rolls to his Right's got some space back
corner of the end zone, right side. Did he come
down with it? He did?
Speaker 4 (50:08):
Touchdown Titans back right corner of the end zone.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
The catch made by the half back by the tailback,
Doug Person his first receiving touchdown of the season. Stout
lost him out of the backfield and it's six to
nothing Oshkosh with three to nine to go in the
first quarter. Blo Devil's missing the running back, missing the
tailback that everybody else covered up pretty well, but it
(50:34):
was a tailback end. It wasn't really a wheel route,
just kind of came out of the backfield and then
he ran a corner route to the back right corner
of the end zone and about halfway deep into the
end zone, making that catch, falling toward the sideline. Here's
the kick is up and it is good from Axe
Lavera Trejo and I'll make it seven to nothing. Oshcosh
three nine. Love to play first quarter. We'll come back
(50:56):
right after this here on the WIAC Sports Network.
Speaker 16 (51:00):
Are you thinking about buying a new Apple, Mac iPad
or iPhone or maybe you just need help with what
you have?
Speaker 10 (51:05):

Speaker 3 (51:39):
Ing Mac to don and Ona Williams Stadium. Six plays,
eighty yards, three minutes and nineteen seconds. The drive for
the Titans capped off with the person receiving touchdown on
third and long and now a seven to nothing lead
here for the Titans over South Hi kick James got
to come up and feel this. When they let it drop,
what in the world will they do? He goes back,
(52:00):
scoops it up at the seven. He'll come up to
the ten out of bounds, across the fifteen, maybe at
the seventeen. Jojo James and Devantevin's just kind of looking
at each other, pulling the old Spider Man routine.
Speaker 4 (52:11):
Where they start pointing at each other and you don't.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
Know who's to.
Speaker 9 (52:15):
Be unofficial corporate spot.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
Officially marking out at the eighteen yard line. So not
good field position here for Stout. Such a great last drive.
Everything worked well, but this is one of those things
when you're trying to prove yourself like sut is today
against this Oshkosh squad who's ranked eleventh or fourteen in
the nation, depending on what fool you'll look at. It
feels like, even when you're at home, it feels like
(52:38):
everything's got to go right, and so far, not a
lot has gone right here for the Blue Devils, but
it's early.
Speaker 4 (52:43):
They're only down seven to nothing. It's three h five
left to go. First quarter.
Speaker 3 (52:47):
Two receivers left, one right, pistol formation and the handoff
will go right up the gut to Chase Hughes. He's
across the twenty twenty one maybe they're twenty two as
he runs to the left side and the tackle on
the play made up on the line and Kenny Story
came up out of linebackers spot to help out along
with Michael Paget.
Speaker 4 (53:04):
It'll be a four yard gain. Second and six. Here
christout on the Hughes run.
Speaker 9 (53:13):
Man.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
It's second and six to forty to go. First quarter,
seven to nothing. Oshkosh Mowen in the shotgun. Two receivers
tied up on the formation, left one right now they
send Hughes out wide to the.
Speaker 4 (53:24):
Left empty backfield. Oshkosh looks like they're bringing pressure. They
bring five.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
Gotta get rid of it. Delayed blitz. He rolls to
his right. Mowen throws toward Mason Frank and it'll be incomplete.
He didn't get it back to the line of scrimmage,
but Frank was close enough there where that should be
just an.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
Incompletion and not an intentional grounding.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
It's third and six, Cane one and adinas prom supporter
is WoT have al athletic good defense here from Oshkosh,
And they're starting to, I think realize if they bring
some pressure again with Mowen, it's hard, right, You kind
of have to delay the pressure. You have to keep
him contained in the pocket because if your pressure, you know,
gets there, but you don't make the tackle, all of
a sudden, you've lost a defender and he can really
(54:04):
run for a long ways, So you have to be
kind of careful on how you bring that pressure. He'll
send Carter out to the right for another empty backfield.
Three receivers left, two to the right back to pass.
Mowen wants to launch this one deep near side toward Carter.
It's up and incomplete. Good defense down the near sideline
by Caleb Brooks, a backup safety.
Speaker 4 (54:23):
No flags on the play.
Speaker 3 (54:24):
Again, another underthrown ball and Carter was trying to come
back to it and Bridge just stayed in front of him.
Speaker 4 (54:29):
He said, I'm not gonna make contact with you.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
I'm just gonna basically face guard you down to the
near sideline and make it hard for you to make
any catch.
Speaker 4 (54:36):
And a hit off of his back. It's in complete.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
Fourth and six, and now Brady Privy will come out
to punt this one away. Had a good punt his
first time, almost fifty yard punt on his first punt
of the game.
Speaker 4 (54:47):
But the Titans are looking their chops a little bit here.
Speaker 3 (54:50):
Two fifteen to go in the first quarter, seven to
nothing Oshkosh and previous standing inside his own ten. He
takes it at the eight and he gets it away
wobbling viral near side, takes a Stout bounce initially, then
kind of holds up at the forty six yard line.
Mark him at the forty five. Officially what ends up
being a thirty three yard punt, not a great one
(55:13):
for proving, and so good field position at the Oshkosh
forty five. Two o seven to go, first quarter, it's
Oshkosh seven, Stout and zero. And this feels it's early
on in the game. I get it, but this feels
like a little bit of a tipping point. Stott's got
to be careful. I think imagine Oscotch is gonna go
for a big play. I would think you'd try to
(55:33):
get up by two scores up and just try to
kind of put Stout on the back foot, which is
kind of what it feels like right now. So the
Blue Devil's got to be aware of that. Stay high
over the top and make sure Ashcotch doesn't blow the
roof off the place and go up by two scores.
At this point, two oh seven left to play first quarter,
ochcoth seven stout zero one receiver left, one right, two
(55:55):
tight ends off set right, send a man in motion.
That's a backup quarterback in court. He is hit for
no gain. A great job coming up by Blaine side
l to make the play no gain on the play
at the forty five Courth again is the backup quarterback,
but he also runs. He's got one hundred and forty
six yards rushing and seven receptions coming into the game
as well carry, so he is kind of your versatile
(56:16):
everything back and he stays in there with Keenan, who
knows right you hand it off to him, and all
of a sudden he's throwing the ball down field as well.
He's got four for four on the season for fifty
two yards. Or's some trick plays that you certainly could
run with Corth if you wanted to. Two receivers left,
one to the right far hash Mark again second and
ten from the forty five. Keen in the shotgun with
(56:38):
Courth who is left and going motion behind him. I'll
rose out to the right. They throw it to him
quickly and it is in complete. Should have been intercepted
by Blaine side, pardon me, by brooks Burgh who was
Blaine side.
Speaker 4 (56:48):
L brooks Burwer is there as well.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
But Sidel jumped the route and it goes off his
fingertips and mat very easily could have been a pick six.
Oh my goodness. It would have been a question of
his speed, right, I mean he picks that off. There
is nobody there. Would have had to been either Keen
or maybe another receiver or lineman who would have had
to chase him down. But that was picked six all
(57:11):
day long. And he just dropped the Dern and tesh
with one twenty left to play. First quarter, otchcosh seven
stout zero ball at their own forty five need the
stout forty five three receivers left, two to the right,
king back to pass pressure coming here, sacked. Blayne sat
out with a big time series. He gets the deflection,
(57:33):
he gets the sacked, his first whole.
Speaker 4 (57:38):
Sack of the season.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
Have a half a sack coming into the game back
to the thirty nine yard line. A loss of six
on the play. The punt unit out for hash Gosh.
Big play right there for Stout. As we tick under
a minute left to go in the first quarter, Blu
Devils will send DeVante Evan no pardon me, apron carter
back to turn.
Speaker 4 (58:02):
The punter.
Speaker 3 (58:03):
Is Abernathy standing at his own twenty five yard line.
Stout almost at a block earlier. They'll bring pressure, they
don't get there. Decent punt, fair catch called for by
Carter at the twenty one yard line, and it'll be
first in ten for the Blue Devils. Forty two yard
punt for Stout or for a Oshkosh rather there are whistles.
Speaker 4 (58:24):
Is there a flag? No, there's just an injury.
Speaker 6 (58:26):
I thought it.
Speaker 3 (58:27):
Oh, but there might have been a flag and another
injury here for Oshcosh special teams, they've had three separate injuries.
The first two were to the same linebacker, backup linebacker
in Josh Greeno. I hope it's not Greeno again. I
haven't been able to see the number. But regardless, another
(58:50):
Oshcosh Titan down again about sixty two sixty three degrees
here sixty one at game time, but now it's an increase.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
We expect it to be sixty four to sixty.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
Five for a high just a beautiful dare's no clouds
in the sky, sunshining, perfect fall day here in western Wisconsin,
and that titan will be helped to his feet, and
is Johnny Spilesso. I think the one advantage Stout might
have is they are a little bit healthier than Oshkosh
(59:20):
coming into this game, and if Oshkosh picks up more injuries,
I mean that those things could prove to pay a
toll later in this game if Stout keeps it close.
And that's all to be seen how that works out
in the second half of this game. Thirty one seconds
remain first quarter, seven to nothing Oshkosh, and I think.
Speaker 4 (59:38):
We're ready to go. After Spilasso's taken off.
Speaker 3 (59:41):
That injury will leave the pistol here for Adam Owen
and his own twenty one yard line. He's got Ross
behind him, and they'll send some motion here and send
some guys around. Two ton ends right, two receivers left.
Ross go's in motion to the left. They'll counter to
him to the right, looking for a hole. Bounces, it
takes some contact across the twenty and he's up near
(01:00:02):
the twenty three yard line before he's ganging tackled and
push back. Top of the bile was Michael Paget stop
by a host of Titans, and the bottom of the
pile was Curtis just Kolkey. And it will be about
a two maybe three yard gain. Second and about seven
here per Stout, will be the first play of the
second quarter. Seven nothing oshkosh with the lead on the
(01:00:24):
Blue Devils Stout. We'll have it at their own twenty
three yard line with a second and seven coming up
right after this start the second quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:00:32):

This is UW Stout football on newstalk w m e Q.
Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
Back here to non No No No Williams Stadium, the
Blue Devils trailing UW Oshcotch seven to nothing here after
one quarter Oshcotch with eighty one yards a total offense
out with the forty two of total offense. Adam Mohen
three for six but the interception loving large the red
zone interception that he threw at the end of that
long drive for the Blue Doubles for King three of
five eighty one yards and a touchdown for him. Rushing wise,
(01:01:38):
Stouts got fourteen from Adam Oens, six from Chandler Ross,
ten from Averant Carter receiving, and eight from Baraw. Only
three receptions so made by the Blue Doubles, two of
them by Carter.
Speaker 4 (01:01:49):
We saw last week for Stout. DeVante Evans ended.
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
Up having a great game for the Blue Devils in
yardage and touchdowns, but he did not have a reception
in the first half of the game against Do Claire.
He got two big touchdown receptions in the second half.
Stout's got to get him involved quickly. He is their
best receiver, and they're gonna try to get some single
coverage for him here on wide out to the left
here for Stout. Two receivers right. Frank is on the
line up to the left side. It's second and seven.
(01:02:14):
Here for Stout, Hughes is the tailback mowing back to
pass throws it left side carters there. Catch made across
the thirty five and out of bounds near the thirty
seven yard line. Good catch here from Avron Carter. A
little bit of a window in the zone coverage on
the near side, it'll be about a fourteen yard gaining
a first down for the Blue Devils seven to nothing.
Oshkosh leads a pretty even games so far. The only
(01:02:36):
problem is Stout didn't finish off that one drive that
they had should have resulted in that touchdown, remember, was
called back for the offensive pass interference a cross leading
thirty four to fourteen over oh Player three forty four
left to go third quarter. River falls up fourteen to
nothing on Platteville early second and Whitewater up fourteen to
nothing on Stevens Point early second quarter as well. One
receiver left one right here for Stout under center goes
(01:02:59):
Mow and fakes a hand looking to go deep. James
would be the guy to go to. They will to
the right side in complete. Bars gets the breakup on
the pass. James was open initially. I think if Mohen
grows that ball earlier, he gets it to him. But
once he knew that he was probably the only option.
Because Evans was covered downfield that Bars was able to
(01:03:19):
kind of know what was coming that way. Recovered nicely
for the deflection. Second and ten from the thirty seven.
Here for stout, Hawk stops on the incompletion fourteen eighteen
left to play second quarter seven to nothing, Oshkosh. Second
and ten from their own thirty seven. Here for the
Blue Devils, on the near hash mark Dawson fara is left,
(01:03:41):
Carter and Evans outlide right. They'll send Hughes the tailback
out wide to the right as well. No one who
waits a snap three man rush throws it over the middle,
catch made by Carter and he'll be taken out immediately
at the forty five yard line. Good game, though Deetson
on the quick tackle eight yard game makes it third
and two. Nice to play there.
Speaker 4 (01:04:05):
We'll also see Miles.
Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
Burt checking in for the first time here for Stout,
the tailback and freshman for the Blue Doubles. See gets
his first opportunity for Stout in this game. Burke got
a new Richmond just down the road. Three receivers left,
one to the right. Mowen in the shotgun with Burt
to his left. He's gonna send Carter in motion left
to right across the formation. Ten seconds left on the plate.
(01:04:28):
Clot need two yards for the first down, third and two,
three man rush. Mowen looking right, nobody there now looks left.
Throws catchmate Evans across the fifty and down to the
forty eight yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:04:37):
Seven yard gain, a first down for the Blue Doubles.
Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
Apparently tackle bike carrying on the play. Scout's gonna run
the Hurria. They come up to the line quickly, got
to only get lined up over there. Blue Doubles will
three receivers to the right, one to the LEFTO off
side should be the call here. Mowen's got a free play.
Throws it right. Williams has a catch across the thirty five.
Oh took some tackler at the thirty and he's taken
down from behind across twenty and up near the seventeen
(01:05:01):
yard line. There is a flag on the play, but
it should be off side and this play should stand
and South should be in the red zone.
Speaker 4 (01:05:09):
Here's the call person.
Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
Nickel is the man calling for the off side a
free play and Williams got opened for the catching the
first sound inside the twenty to the eighteen yard line.
Blue Devils have it in the red zone for the
second time today. The first time they thought they had
a touchdown got called back for a DeVante Evans offensive
pass interference, and then immediately the next play it was
an interception to ben Well Hayfer that ended the drive. Immediately,
(01:05:42):
tight ends will move in exchange positions, one to the right,
one to the left, two receivers left, and the shotgun
Ross is a tailback fake. The handoff Bowen looking over
the middle, looking toward the end zone, toward Evans.
Speaker 4 (01:05:52):
It's up and in complete.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
A little hand fighting initially there with his defender I
believe was garigassing, and then when Evan's turned around, the
ball was almost don and he gave it a little
extra push, a little extra choose to try to get
to the corner and make that catch, but wasn't able
to come up with it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
Flave Birmingham.
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
He's talking to the back yelling at the back judge
right now for pass interference and didn't get the call.
Second and ten from the eighteen yard line, hold tap.
He's getting an air fow of the headline judge here
on the near side. Three receivers left, two tight ends right,
empty backfield for Stout twelve forty to go here in
the second quarter, Ashcoth seven Stout zero. Second and ten
(01:06:33):
from the eighteen mowing looking left, rolling right, he's hit Stout.
Did not have the blocks set up for the keeper.
Kellen Wright hits him in the backfield. We'll see if
they score that a sack or not. Look like it
was a keeper play shutter, but I think they're gonna
give him the sack. Right, we'll get the sack. It'll
be third in about fourteen now for south back to
(01:06:55):
the twenty two yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
Back to the twenty two. They go twelve thirteen to
go here in.
Speaker 3 (01:07:01):
The second quarter, Oshkosh seven Stout zero, and they need
a big play, need to get the ball down to
the eight yard line for a first sound ball just
outside the twenty year at the twenty two. Three receivers left,
two to the right. Eight seconds on the play clock.
Moen awaits the snap, takes it. It's a four man rush,
steps up, he gets away from the pressure. He's gonna
run with it twenty makes a move to the fifteen.
(01:07:21):
Still on his feet, he's taken down inside the fifteen,
down to the eleven yard line. He got a lot
of it back there and makes it a fourth and
real interesting year for the Blue Devils. They're gonna bring
out the field goal in fourth and about three here
for Stout, And this is definitely a territory where you
could think about the touchdown. But I think I think
(01:07:43):
early on in the game, Clay Birmingham is like when
his defense is done and he is gonna be content
to have Garrison Jackman go out and attempt what should
be about a twenty eight yard field goal attempt an
a Mohendo hold. The ball is close to the far hash,
not quite in the middle of the hash marks. The
wind is it his back kicking to the north zone.
The end zone to our left snaps. Oh, it's a
bad snap. Ball picked up and Jackman's gonna throw it.
(01:08:06):
The catch gets made by one of the linemen here.
I think that might be was he an eligible receiver,
doesn't matter, it's gonna be a fourth down turnover on
downs to Daniel Walker who made the catch by Jackman
to go down and get that ball and throw it.
Also got a hurt lineman Sam Briot for the Blue Devils,
who's down on this play bad. I don't know how
bad the snap was. Mowen just didn't handle it and
(01:08:29):
it slipped right through his hands. No chance to get
that field goal off. And now Sam Briott is down
and man alive. I think Clay Birmingham sock of the
back judge here maybe about that pass interference play and
also about how Sambria got hurt here. Yeah, he's still
in the ears of pusch Renon thinking that Evans got
(01:08:52):
held trying to get to that ball, and I think
he's probably got a kick. You don't see Clay Birmingham
get that angry that often, and he's gonna use that
time out to look at Sambria to chat with the
official I think most of the way. Yeah, he's still
pointing at that play at first play to Evans is
the one they think they had and there was a
hold on that play, is what he is contending and
(01:09:13):
Sam Briot's gonna get looked at here. So eleven three
to go, second quarter, seven to nothing, O scotch are
going to take over.
Speaker 4 (01:09:20):
On the turnover on downs.
Speaker 3 (01:09:23):
So I guess Daniel Walker was an eligible receiver as
Jackman threw it to him. He made the catch and
actually had a chance. They had to break a tackle,
which Daniel Walker you wouldn't assume would being that he
is not an offensive player, and so the line of
scrimmage is going to be the twelve yard line where
(01:09:44):
he got taken down. So it's a one yard loss
on the play. But man, I mean, you know a
red zone chance, and you know your first red zone
chance looks like you're in for a touchdown, offensive pass interference,
throw an interception, second red zone chance late birmingh him
is going to argue that there was defensive pass interference
there should have set him up on the goal line.
(01:10:05):
But just a couple of bad plays and the Blue
Devils unable to convert, and now looks like Sambria is
gonna get up on his own, but he's gonna have
to be helped off the field as he cannot put
any weight on his right leg and Sambria at the
left guard. Will Nordstrom is the man in the depth
chart right behind him. We'll see if Nordstrom is the
guy who comes in the next time. The Blue Doubles
(01:10:26):
are out on offense. So look, it's seven to nothing, Oshkosh,
You're down a touchdown to the number eleven ranked team
in the country. It's eleven oh three left to go
second quarter, and absolutely nothing has gone right here for
the Blue Devils. But they're only down a touchdown and
you got at their own twelve. So I mean, it's
not the end of the world here so far. And
so again, these games is such a marathon, just so
(01:10:47):
much can happen one so plenty of game left here
for the Blue Devils and Oshcosh probably feeling that as well, thinking, man,
we should be up by two three scores with the
way that we have played. Sounds actually outgained Oshkosh in
this game one oh seven eighty one. But it has
been a pretty defensive struggle so far for both these teams.
So Quinn Keene and the shotgun ball at the twelve
(01:11:09):
yard line on the near hash the end to our left,
he'll fake the handoff, throws it out to the right side.
It is up and caught across the twenty and up
near the twenty five yard line, back right at the
twenty five.
Speaker 4 (01:11:20):
Good catch.
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
Are a little off route to brush Jack, so they
brought a lot of pressure and Keen just threw it
to a spot and brush made the catch. A great
catch here at thirteen yards first down, working on Jesse
Ellis side, and he made a nice play. Ellis giving
him a little too much pushing win and he was
able to make the catch snowing out of bounds at
twenty five. Keen back in the shotgun again. Three receivers left,
(01:11:44):
one to the right. He's got Burson and is his
tailback off set to the right, waits to snap, he
takes it, looks right the entire way now back left,
the screen set up for Burson. Berson makes the catch,
trying to cut it at the twenty five. He's hitting,
then falls forward up near the twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
Got a two yard.
Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
Gain on a run to the left.
Speaker 4 (01:12:02):
Blaine side l on the on the tackle and it'll
be second and eight here for Oshkosh twenty seven yard about.
Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
To take under ten minutes left to go, second quarter,
Oshkosh seven Stout zero. Nebl's just trying to come up
with something here, figure out a way to get in
the end zone. It might be the defensive side. Remember
Blaine side L almost had that pick six on the
last offensive drive for Oshkosh. I feel like you need
something like that right here, something to jump start this team.
(01:12:36):
Two receivers to the right, they'll fake the handoff, roll
right and this key now he looks back left, throws
it to the left side. Catch made across the thirty
thirty five to forty far side, and side L hits
him along with Brewer out of bounds across the forty
five and up to the forty six yard line. That's
a nineteen yard gain and I'm focused down. They're trying
to get the pursuit there of the Blue Devils eight
(01:12:58):
branch with the catch and the big run on the
far side and the over pursuit from the Blue Devils
is something that Oshkosh takes advantage of there and moves
it up to their own forty six yard line. Nine
to twenty second quarter, Oshkosh seven Stout zero Titans, fourteen
seconds on the play clock.
Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
They don't go with the huddle.
Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
They just all look to the sideline and look at
their risks for those that playbook basically to know what's
being called.
Speaker 4 (01:13:25):
And then they make the formation. Three receivers, so the right.
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
This time Keene takes it, keep her to the right,
fifty breaks the tackle, gets hit hard up across to
the forty seven yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:13:34):
Part me, not Keen. That's a took it himself and.
Speaker 3 (01:13:38):
Corth into the game there, and I don't see Keen
out there at the moment here for the Titans. Rather
so it's Corth just running with that one. And now yeah,
now they're gonna bring Keen back out, so Cork comes off.
Cork just keeping it himself on again. He is a quarterback,
but also kind of feels like a little bit like
a wildcat formation when he's in there taking that snap
(01:13:59):
without Keen into the game. Fourteen thirteen seconds left on
the plate clock, Oshkosh breaking the huddle. Interestingly, here now
two receivers right, tight ends right and left and the
handoff taken counter right side. Forty five first down yardage
up to the forty on the run to the left
to the right side on the counterplay for Berson your
(01:14:21):
pardon me, not Verson, rather stra tailback into the game.
That's Emil Jackson.
Speaker 9 (01:14:28):
The junior leading Jackson on the carry.
Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
Jackson pretty sure he has not had a tack or
a run off season long. You got Javon Murray, Tristan Taylor,
the other guys who's running backs who've gotten carries this season.
But special play in there for Emil Jackson. Excuse me,
and he will to make the run up to the
forty yard line of Stout. It's a first down seven
to fifty left to play here in this second quarterback
(01:14:51):
to pass Keen a lot of times steps up rolling right,
he's hit as he throws, launching this one up and
has deflected an interceptive but out of bounds Gosson Goodman
tipped it to himself and then tried to drag the
feet in. That was a heck of a play by
DAWs pretty clearly out of bounds when he finally got
possession of it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
But a nice job there by Dawson Goodman.
Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
To make the deflection and almost get the interception. Seven
thirty four left to go, second quarter, Oshkosh seven Stout zero.
Both teams is all three time out. It's part of
me Oshcosh has just two timeouts remaining in this half.
Oshkosh won twenty nine In terms of their yardage in
this game Stout one seven pretty even, but it's been
(01:15:34):
that one long drive for Oshkosh. It is the difference
in this game. Second and ten here from the Stout
forty yard line, moving left to right, Keen takes a snap,
rolls left, looks, throws it out that way. A blue
devil went down on the play and tiptoe in the
sideline goes Matthew out of bounds and Gabe Kramer went
down awkwardly there. You wonder if he.
Speaker 4 (01:15:52):
Just got his feet tangled up with him.
Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
He seems to be okay now he's back down to
a knee as trainer comes out to look at him.
Speaker 4 (01:16:00):
Yeah, he went down on that Matthew.
Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
Out and you wonder if he just got wrong footed,
maybe twisted his ankle as he was trying to follow
him and literally went down and end up being a
pretty easy catch and run for Matthew out of mounds
to the twenty seven yard line on a gain of
thirteen yards. They'll run to the sideline himself there will
Kramer under his own power. Seven twenty four left to play.
(01:16:26):
Second quarter, and we'll wind the clock out of the
injury time out. Oshkosh knocking on the door again. Blue
Devils defense needs to come up big. One receiver left,
one right, two tight ends offset right for Keene. He's
got Jevon Murray as his tailback to his left. He
will give it to him running right. He's hit the
line and not a lot outs. Maybe pushed forward for
(01:16:48):
a yard to the twenty six yard line. A good
job there by the Blue dovels just a hold on.
It's Colton Parker who's starting over well Braxton Money kais
and in the two deep Money Kais and Hurt unable
to play today, gets a yard to the right side.
It's a game of one second and nine here for
oshcotsh after that run for Jevon Murray. Murray, that's just
(01:17:09):
his sixth run of the year. He's up to twenty
six yards on the season as well. Let's stay in
as a tailback and the pistol here with Keene. One
receiver right, one left, two tight ends off set right.
Eleven seconds left on the plate clock, six point thirty
left to play here in the second quarter, Keene takes
a handoff, rolls to his left, looking down field, he
launches it up, caught across the fifteen immediately hit, but
(01:17:31):
that's he'll be first down here for Clayton Swallby, the
tight end Clayton Swaalby complete down to the fourteen yard
line in a first down Here for oshcotch I Stout
had the under route covered. I think that was what
they're worried about. That's the one they kind of burned
him on on this drive. And then the over at
the mid route when Schwamby was wide open and he
catches it down to the fourteen yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
First and ten here.
Speaker 3 (01:17:54):
For oshkosh at the Stout fourteen five point fifty to go,
second quarter, Oshcot seven Stout zero one receiver right one left,
man in motion to Shwaby left right, takes the snap,
rolls right, looks right now, moves away, gets tripped up
throw the catch made to the fifteen inside the ten
of the nine. The question was was keing down on
the plane now? Aj Hogan is hurt.
Speaker 9 (01:18:16):
On that tackle to killing Mela complete.
Speaker 3 (01:18:20):
The backup tight end Mellow with the catch. Aj Hogan
looked like he's holding his arm his shoulder on that
tackle play down to the nine yard line. It should
be about a second and five here for osh gosh
five point thirty four left to go, second quarter, oshkosh
seven Stout zero. Look, if you give up a touchdown
here is at the end of the world. No, you
(01:18:41):
got plenty of time left in this game. But just
from a psychological standpoint, you know, one score down going
into halftime fields a lot better than two, and so
either you need to stop here, you got to go
down and score on your next drive. If you're stout,
you've had two opportunities probably you know, ten points basically
right there for you on the board. One that had
called back on that offensive pass interference on their second drive,
(01:19:03):
and then the other, the field goal attempt that was
mishandled by Adam Mohen looked like a high snap. I'm
sure if you ask Adam Moen, he'd tell you that
he should have received it, should have got it down.
But not a great snap to begin with, and there
have been some snap issues in special teams. That's something
I'd imagine that the special teams unit's got to work
on the long snapper right now for the Blue Devils,
(01:19:27):
and it is currently Matt Larson and Andrew David is
the short snapper, and he's been the guy snapping those
field goal and extra point attempts, and that's got to
be something that's cleared up, because that's not the first
time that I haven't been able to get a hold
down on a field goal. Happened at the end of
the half against So Claire last week for Stout and
Jackman was still able to get a kickoff, but it
(01:19:48):
was the ball wasn't held well by Moan and was
blocked pretty easily by UWL player, so Quentin Keane back
in here out of the timeout, how about injury time out?
Second and five Here for Oshkosh at the Stout nine
yard line, seven to nothing. Oshkosh leads at three receivers left,
one to the right, keen suns of man in motion,
looks left the entire way, now back right, catch made
(01:20:10):
out of the backfield by person hit immediately. That's a
couple of yard loss, Hunter Scape, What a beautiful open
field tackle on on person for a shoot, maybe even
a three yard loss and it will be third and
long third about seven years at the eleven yarde.
Speaker 4 (01:20:26):
Third and seven is the case.
Speaker 3 (01:20:28):
They need to get to the four yard line for
a first down walker Byrol checks in on the defensive
line here for Stout. Third and seven, four fifty to
go for excuse me for forty to go left in
the second quarter, two receivers right, two left.
Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
The person is the tailback.
Speaker 3 (01:20:49):
Keen in the shotgun sends a man in motion that's
Matthew across the formation, takes a handoff. Now it takes
the throw out to Matthew Rolls too, is right looking
to the end zone. Nothing there, You're gonna go back left.
No flags on the play. Throw to the end zone,
it is caught boy. Stout could not get the pressure
on him at all, could Keen. And they just kept
floating around in the end zone and the catch is
made by London.
Speaker 13 (01:21:09):
Little King's pass complete to London a little and.
Speaker 4 (01:21:13):
It's a touchdown for the Titans.
Speaker 3 (01:21:14):
And it's thirteen nothing O Scotch Stout and everything covered
there perfectly. They just could not get the pressure in
on Keen, and Keen kept the play alive with his legs.
It's thirteen to nothing, Titans four seventeen to go. Second quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:21:28):
Okay, not the end of the world.
Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
You just again just need to find a score before
the end of the half. Para Trejo is on to
attempt the extra point. The left footed kicker, low snap,
get it down though the kick is up and the
kick is good. Fourteen nothing Oscotch with four to seventeen
left to go.
Speaker 4 (01:21:45):
Second quarter. We come back right after this Here on
the wiac spor.
Speaker 17 (01:21:48):

This is UW Stout Football on Newstock wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
Welcome back here to u W Stoun and to Donna
Nona Williams Stadium. It's fourteen nothing on Scotch with the
lead on Stout as Quintin Kine finds pass a London
little for his first reception of the game, third touchdown
of the season for little and a drive. It took
twelve plays eighty eight yards with six minutes and forty
six seconds to get the Titans into the end zone.
(01:22:51):
Now the Blue Devils need to figure out a way
to respond. They've only been out gained in this game
by sixty two yards, and it's not a huge different.
Speaker 4 (01:23:00):
Friends.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
Adam Mohen though seven up twelve for seventy seven yards
and one interception. He's rushed for twenty one gwent Keene
a very good day so far, eleven and fourteen for
one hundred and fifty four yards and two touchdowns. High kick,
it's a short kick. One of the up backs is
gonna fair catch this one at the twenty four and.
Speaker 4 (01:23:19):
They'll move it up to the twenty five.
Speaker 3 (01:23:22):
The Blue Devils get the fair catch from kl Lamb
and the twenty five yard line is where Stout will
take over.
Speaker 13 (01:23:28):
Herberts a prob potterner of Blue Devil Athletics.
Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
Joe Adam Mohen back out a quarterback. Stouts run twenty
two plays in this game, oscotsh twenty four. Stout's got
six and first downs. Oscosh has nine ye daily Oshkosh
though only I mean the rushing defense is held up
as we expected it for Stout. It's been mainly pass
plays here today for Oshkosh, but they've only run for
ten yards in this game. It's kind of what we expected.
Speaker 6 (01:23:54):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
The past game is doing its thing and Stout's offense
has not been able to respond. Two receivers right, two
tight ends left. Adam Owen will send Ross to his right.
He'll fake the counter to him, roll to the right
out to Frank in the flat. He'll catch it, and
he'll make the play up to about the thirty yard line,
the five yard game on the playout to the edge.
Speaker 4 (01:24:12):
Tackle on the play by.
Speaker 3 (01:24:12):
Jonathan Goff, and it's second and five. As we took
under four minutes up to play in the second quarter,
fourteen nothing. Oshkosh leeds here over Stout. As Carter and
Evans spent out wide left. He got it half to
get Evans involved in this game. He's got two catches
for twenty one yards. Williams has a catch for thirty.
(01:24:33):
Carter has three catches, but only eighteen yards. Second and five,
Mowen will fake no, He'll give the handoff. Ross has
it up the middle. He's got a first down first
down out across the thirty five. In fact, they'll give
him the thirty six yard line as a blue devil.
Will Nordstrom got flung away right at the last there
(01:24:53):
Sam Friett, who got hurt on that field goal attempt
at the end of the last drive for Stout, first
and ten from the thirty six. After that six yard
run for Chandler Ross, Ross is a tailback here for
Mowing in the pistol formation. About to tick under three
minutes up to play in the quarter and in the
(01:25:14):
first half, Ross moves out to the left, they fake
the handout Mowing looking over the middle. He throws this
one deep nearside that is up and oh it's incomplete.
Oh my goodness, Avern Carter wide open at the oshkosh
forty five and he dropped it.
Speaker 4 (01:25:27):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:25:28):
That is the most wide open receiver has been a game,
and they dropped it.
Speaker 4 (01:25:33):
And I'll tell you right.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
Now, the offensive game plan for scouts coaches looks really good.
Players just aren't executing it right now. Players gotta execute
these plays. When you are playing the eleventh ranked team
in the country, you just have to execute. And it
has not been there yet in this game. Two fifty
seven left to play. Second quarter, Oshkosh fourteen Stout zero.
(01:25:54):
Two receivers left, one out to the right. They're gonna
send Hughes out in motion to the left as well
onto the tailback spot backfield four man front here for Oshkosh,
they bring four Mowing back to pass was over the
middle incompleting game incomplete again through the hands of Dawson Farrah.
Speaker 4 (01:26:10):
And that is the second straight drop and.
Speaker 3 (01:26:12):
It's third and ten from their own thirty six. Now
that had some some zip on it, but it's still
in him in the hands and still is a ball
that's just gotta be caught. This is getting a little
bit frustrating, I'm sure for the Blue Devil's sideline and
their players here and the fans as well. Three receivers
go left, two tight ends right, empty backfield from Owing
(01:26:35):
in the shotgun to fifty four left to play. Second
quarter oshcotsh fourteen Stout zero, Third and ten from their
own thirty six.
Speaker 4 (01:26:42):
Snap taken by Mowing. Here comes the pressure. Got to
get away from it. He can't. He's wrapped up and
he's sacked back of the thirty yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:26:51):
Sack back of the thirty yard lineupn right was the
man there first and the punt unit out for seven.
That is a very disconcerting three and out for the
Blue Devils after you just give up that drive and
just not a lot of excitement, not a lot of
(01:27:11):
fight in that drive there after a couple of drop passes,
he knew they were going to bring pressure as well.
And how Stout didn't pick it up, I'm not sure.
Prevy back of his own fifteen, he gets the punted away,
good punt, really good punt, and all the way back
to the twenty three yard line to receive it goes
Brush Brush the encountering back left, he stripped up. Oh,
(01:27:33):
ball popped out of there and it's scooped up by
the Titans. Now'll get it to about the twenty eight
on the play. A very very good punt though from Prevy,
and that will also bring us to the two minute
time out. One fifty nine left to play in the
second quarter. Oshkosh fourteen South zero. It's a two minute
time out. We'll take it as well.
Speaker 1 (01:27:52):
We'll be back right.
Speaker 4 (01:27:53):
After this here on the WIAC Sports New Leaders.
Speaker 19 (01:27:56):
Let's use a football metaphor in your home. You're the
quarter now Who would you want in your front line asphalt? No,
the fearsome form rain, hail, wind and snow and blow rate.
Throw an asphall line. For real protection, you want be
Yorkstran metal roofie. Because hit after hit, year after year.
(01:28:16):
Be yorks Rand metal roofine will keep you protected with
a fifty year non pro rated and transferable warranty.
Speaker 1 (01:28:23):
Two three seven twenty six seventy eight. This is UW.
Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (01:28:37):
Welcome back once again here to not a no No
Williams Stadium. The Blue Devils struggling to get the offense
started up again after they've had some good drives. But
Oscotsh the fourteen nothing laid over Stout. Now one minute
fifty nine seconds left till halftime. Two minute drill coming
up here for Oschcotsh. They will start at their own
twenty eight yard line, moving left or right into a
(01:28:58):
little bit of a breeze. I'm terribly bad here in
Monominee today that a Scots trying to add some more
points to the board before halftime and a touchdown would
be absolutely absolutely killer. I'm not sure Stout can do
much when they're down three touchdowns going in the second half.
So defense a little confused out of this timeout, and
they're gonna send a little in motion. They're gonna try
(01:29:19):
to get it to him on an end a round
moving right to left, got a hole thirty five, bounces
out right side, forty five down the sideline, hit out
of bounds by Brooks birth of fifty twenty two yard gain. Boy,
I tell you what, I just watching that play. I
think everybody in the place knew the way that little
was running that motion that he was going to get
it on an end around, and Stout just could not
(01:29:40):
get to twenty two yard run fifty yard line and
Oshcott gets out of bounds to stop the clock. One
fifty two left to play in the first quarter. Wide
receiver left two to the right here for Oshkosh keen
in the shotgun and he's got burst into his right.
Stout needs to stop. Cannot allow us score here. Hand
(01:30:02):
off goes up the middle to Berston's got a whole
left side across the forty five and up near the
forty four six yard gain.
Speaker 4 (01:30:09):
Moving on that left edge.
Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
Brewer had to come up out of the safety spot
to make the tackle. He was there with Cole Sanger
as well, and it's second and.
Speaker 4 (01:30:17):
Four here for Oscotch and bul Singer.
Speaker 3 (01:30:22):
Second and four from the Stout forty four. They'll let
the clock tick down. Stout's got all three timeouts. Oshkosh
has two one, twenty four, one, twenty three left to
play here in this first half. Fourteen to nothing Oshcosh
two receivers left too right, far hash Mark back to
past King Keane looks over the middle, steps up, gets
away from the pressure. He's got the first down on
a pump thirty five to the thirty there and check
(01:30:43):
crack him down from behind.
Speaker 4 (01:30:44):
They can't get there.
Speaker 3 (01:30:45):
Until he gets across to the twenty five to the
twenty four yard line. That's a twenty yard scramble. This
is a guy who had thirty four rush yards on
the season, and Stout just gave up a twenty yard
scramble and it's a first down to the twenty four
yard line of Stout. As we tick under one minute
left to play here in the first half, Stout not
gonna take any timeouts to help him out or save time.
(01:31:07):
It's gonna be all on Oshkosh. Fifty one fifty forty nine,
first and ten from the stout twenty four yard line
handoff to Berson. He's hitting the backfield and stopped after
a one yard loss. It came initially from Owen Christa,
helped out by Gabe Kramer.
Speaker 4 (01:31:22):
No timeout.
Speaker 3 (01:31:23):
I'm surprised I didn't take a time out there. Thirty five,
thirty four, thirty three, second and eleven here for Oshkosh
at the twenty five one receiver left, two to the right,
keen looking right the whole way. Now looking back to
the left, he throws left side. It is up and incomplete.
As receiver slipped trying to come back to the ball
on that left side. That's keep on Holloway will be
(01:31:44):
third and eleven here for Oshkosh at the stout. Twenty
five clock stops on the incompletion. Twenty four seconds remain
there infield goal range of axel Vera Trejo, who has
a thirty nine yard er as as long on the season.
This would be longer if Oschcotch doesn't pick up any
yards here, but definitely in his range. One receiver to
(01:32:06):
the right, probably two to the right, one to the
left here for oshcotsh twelve seconds on the play clock.
Twenty four seconds remain here in the second quarter, fourteen nothing,
Oshcotch leads man in motion right to left, back to
pass king pressure coming.
Speaker 4 (01:32:18):
Can they get their stout?
Speaker 3 (01:32:19):
Cannot He'll step up and run, He'll slide down and
I think he's tried to avoid the hit there to Kiffmeyer.
There'll be no call as he kind of rolled over
top of him and avoided the hit. And now Oshcot's
gonna take a time out with like two three seconds
left on the clock. Here it's gonna be fourth and
about eight after a three yard scrambled three seconds left
on the clock, and the field goal unit's gonna come
(01:32:40):
out here for Oshcotch, trying to make this a seventeen
nothing game at halftime. So field goal coming up here
for Oshcotch. And at the twenty two this is gonna
be in the fortieth yard range where they set up
probably a thirty nine yard er. So you're looking at
about equal to what Vera Trejo has hit this season.
Vera Tree is four for six on the year in
(01:33:02):
field goal attempts. Thirty nine is his long. Osh gosh
with two hundred nineteen yards offense out with just one
hundred and eleven, and boy, it was pretty even in
yards gain until last couple drives. Roch Gotch and Stout's
offense has just gone quiet.
Speaker 4 (01:33:19):
And so can it be some.
Speaker 3 (01:33:23):
Redrawing, some rethinking, I think at halftime for Stout as
to what they want to do and try to hang
in there with this oscotching. Oscosh will receive the ball
to start the second half as well. Remember Joe dank Our,
writer writing that book about the wia C, will be
(01:33:43):
our guest at halftime, looking forward to that conversation to
make sure you stay tuned with us at halftime, which
just scores from around the wa C as well. All right,
so it will be I think they're gonna call this
a thirty nine yard or it's almost a yard early
kind of Right in between the twenty nine and thirty
is where the holder and Quentin Keene is set up.
(01:34:05):
The left footed kicker axel Vera Trejo is ready to
kick this away. Stout will not call the time out.
The kick is blocked, blocked by the Blue Devils and
it will be scooped up. No time left on the clock.
Brooks Brewer is asking for blockers. He's got one near
side twenty five thirty. Can he stay in bounds. No,
he is flipped down. He tried to keep the ball
in play with a latter role, but it got taken
(01:34:26):
out of bounds on a good tackle.
Speaker 4 (01:34:27):
In the open field by Jake Shudder for Oshcott.
Speaker 13 (01:34:31):
Sure returns the block kickof.
Speaker 3 (01:34:34):
Saw a nice play there by Brewer after the block
kicking with more Maine a fourteen to nothing game in
favor of Oscotch. The Titans will get the ball to
start the second half. All right, we'll take quick break.
Love Joe Ank with a sere on our halftime show

conversation and much much more. At halftime, it's half time

Welcome back here to UW Stown and to Donnanoa Williams Stadium.
It's a fourteen nothing lead for Oshkosh over Stout at halftime,
and I think we're gonna have Joe Dankon with us
here at halftime as well. He's I think you're just
making his way up to the press box hopefully get
a chance to have that conversation here in.
Speaker 4 (01:37:37):
Just a few moments.
Speaker 3 (01:37:38):
Let's go through the halftime stats while we're at it,
as the Blue Devil Show fourteen to nothing at halftime
here to uw Oshkosh and team. Stat wise, Oshkosh out
gaining the Blue Devils two nineteen to two eleven and
Stout just unable to really kind of stop Oshkosh Show's
last couple of drives. They did get the block field
(01:38:00):
in the end, but two nineteen to one to eleven
is the total yardage here. As Adam Mohen went eight
of fifteen in the first half with no touchdowns, win, interception,
and eighty two yards in the first half as well. Passing,
he had just fourteen yards netted rushing. Chandler Ross had
twelve yards on the ground as well. Aaron Williams had
a big catch for thirty yards, DeVante Evans twenty one yards,
(01:38:21):
Carter eighteen yards. On the other side, Quentin Keene twelve
of sixteen, one seventy six and two touchdowns for him,
the touchdowns caught by Little and Berson in that first half.
Keen has run for eighteen yards as well, and happy
to have Joe Dank on the halftime show with us
here to chat a little bit. And I'm just getting
to meet Joe, So nice to meet you, Joe.
Speaker 4 (01:38:41):
Appreciate to meet you. Yeah, appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (01:38:43):
Tell you a little time with us here to chat
as it's a fourteen nothing lead for Oshcot here at
halftime and all right, So tell me a little bit
about this. I know you've been kind of going around
the WIAC, in particular writing a book about this, and
you've been doing a lot of research a lot here
the last the last while and now kind of making
your tour around the WIAC. Tell us about kind of
(01:39:05):
the impetus for writing this book and kind of how
you have gone about sort of studying and now getting
to kind of be a part of football here in
western area at all throughout the state of Wisconsin.
Speaker 22 (01:39:16):
Well, so this started literally about a year ago. I
was reading a book by the famed Washington Post columnist
John Feinstein did a book it was called The Ancient
Dy and that book was about the IVY League and
he spent a season in the IVY League and there
were a lot of parallels non conference, non SCOTL I
mean non scholarship football eighteen league, seven conference games, ten
(01:39:41):
game schedule. And I'm reading this and I've always liked
Feinstein' stuff. Thin guy wrote like fifty books. Yeah, I
think I read twenty five.
Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
Sure, okay.
Speaker 22 (01:39:50):
And I'm reading it, and I go, this is like
a league I know something about, right, And I'm familiar
with some significant differences, primarily in the level of the institut.
We're not the IVY League here. But that said, there
were a lot of interesting things, and I said it'd
be a great project to attempt and try it.
Speaker 4 (01:40:08):
Sure, okay.
Speaker 22 (01:40:09):
And you know I first covered this league back the
first time I covered a game in the Y it
was still called the WSUC. Sure, and it was nineteen
seventy eight, okay, And I was a student journalist at
uw platfel So I stayed in touch with the league
throughout over the time. I was in the TV business
and lived in a lot of different states. Retired now,
(01:40:30):
and this was the opportunity I have the time. I
think it could work, and so I reached out to
the conference commissioner Danielle Harris, met with her, told her
my ideas. She gave it her Blessing said, the next
best thing to do is go to the coaches meeting
in April. All eight guys are in a room because
they were going to be the key. Yeah, if they
(01:40:50):
weren't going to give great access and great cooperation, then
you can't do it right. It doesn't matter how good
the story is. If you can't get to it, you
can't tell it right. So they've been absolutely terrific. I
just spent the first half here today in the coaches
booth with a headset of sous send them called the place.
So everybody has granted some type of access like.
Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
That, right, it's really cool to see, certainly, and as
you get that idea for it, like you said, you
meet with the coaches, you kind of get some of
the ideas. How do you figure out, you know, put
your schedule together, where you're going to be on which weekend.
Obviously there's some games that are bigger than others, and
you get that all together. But I imagine some of
its geography, some of it's just kind of timing and
how all that works out well.
Speaker 22 (01:41:31):
So the idea here was to cover this season in
the context of one hundred days. So that's November fifteenth,
it is the last day of the season when we'll
have a champion. If you backed up the clock, it
went to August eighth, that was one week before training camp. Okay,
ten games, and the objective was to go to every
(01:41:52):
place at least once. But with ten you're going to
have two opportunities to double up. So we started to
Claire on that opening night when they played all by themselves.
We went to Point the next weekend, went to Platform
because they were they're defending champs and that was their
home opener. And then seven weeks of league games and
we we set up a schedule ahead of time, and
(01:42:15):
we're going to stick primarily with this schedule. Might make
one change, sure, may not make the revisit to Eau Claire.
But what you're trying to do is find good matchups.
But you know, you've been around the league long enough
to know when is there not a good match up.
Basically in this league, you know and so and and
there's great stories at every.
Speaker 4 (01:42:33):
School, and that's that's the cool thing about it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
Obviously, you know, I think a lot of people think
of the WIC obviously as being the powerhouse of Division III.
Speaker 4 (01:42:40):
And you can talk plenty about that.
Speaker 3 (01:42:41):
But yeah, knowing the quote unquote rivalries, and that's something
that coach Birmingham talks a lot about.
Speaker 4 (01:42:46):
You know, we'll get ready for UW Claire game.
Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
I say, hey, you know, what's it like? You know
this is We're on ninety four. It's a rivalry game,
and you go. He'll just look at me and go, Pete.
Every game is a rivalry. We're all playing Wisconsin schools here,
they're all rivalry rees. And it really does feel that way.
It doesn't matter what week it is. It doesn't matter
if it's for the conference championship, doesn't matter if it's
for fifth place in the conference. It does feel like
these kids know each other and they want to win
more more.
Speaker 22 (01:43:06):
The most well everything from look because it's all you know,
how many conferences and may be the only conference in
America where all the teams are from one state and
one university system.
Speaker 3 (01:43:18):
So you have that, so you have a.
Speaker 22 (01:43:19):
Preponderance of kids all from one state. They've played in
high school. Now go to the next level of the coaches.
Six of the coaches played in this league. I mean
they've played in the league. How many of these guys
have been at multiple schools. You know, I was talking
to coordinators on the field before the impetuck. In those
cases they've been at two or three schools in their
(01:43:41):
coaching careers. Then you go to the history of the
league and there's just some Every place has its story.
I mean Max Fargo won a title here. Yeah, we're
in the Max Bargar press box as we're talking. The
guy was a commissioner for twenty years and did an
outstanding job and completed the move to Division three. He's
a legend of discom Every school has those types of guys,
(01:44:03):
not just in next coaches, but they have elements and
great players and things like that. So every place has
the current schedule with the players, the contemporary issues with
these coaches, and then great historical things. And so we're
combining all.
Speaker 3 (01:44:16):
Of that and fort seeing nothing Oscotch with lead on
stout here halftime. Pe can do some talking with Joe
dank here on the WIIC Sports Network in news. So WMQ, Yeah,
you talk about all that and now getting that book together.
What's kind of the plan. Let's say, you know, I
don't know if you know where people are going to
be able to find it eventually, but if you're interested
in kind of following along and eventually buying the book
when it comes out. What's kind of the whole plan
(01:44:38):
and the maybe the timeline for that process.
Speaker 22 (01:44:40):
Well, so we're really working along to two paths right now,
and they have to go really at the same time.
You know, you start to try to pitch the project
to publishers, but you know they want to see the products. Sure, well,
so you know you got to let the season play out.
But so all of a sudden today you looked up.
It's going to be the halfway point. We're going to
(01:45:00):
be halfway home after today, which is actually amazing, especially
when you look out and the cheese aren't even turned out,
just barely right when I'm inn it's mid October. It's
that interesting. But so the point is we're going to
complete continuing to gather the story, put it together. In
a perfect world, the thing has to drop before the
next season starts, because there's gonna be about this season.
(01:45:22):
So sometime around August one September one of next year,
I would like it to be done and to be
out pitching it.
Speaker 3 (01:45:27):
We will not keep it a secret, yep.
Speaker 22 (01:45:29):
We will work with all of the guys like you,
everybody at the campuses and as many mains possible to
promote the existence and how to get it. But it's
an exciting project. And as I say, having gone to
one of these schools and covered the conference and been
involved at different levels and different things with it, everything
I thought it could be, yeah, it is.
Speaker 12 (01:45:50):
And then some yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:45:50):
It's one of those things when you meet people and
obviously you go into Platteville and everything, well, you meet
people who are involved with the WIC. There's not a
lot of people who want to leave the WIC, right
It's a conference where it's such good football for this
level that you get a lot of folks who love it,
fall in love with it, and end up you know,
coaching or being a part of it for twenty thirty
forty years. And it's pretty impressive, especially for this level,
(01:46:11):
to see people who hang around like they do.
Speaker 22 (01:46:13):
Well, you know, And I think that that again speaks
to the unique nature of this conference and this university
sys public schools. These are really good jobs to these
guys too, and I think they enjoy it. It's incredibly challenging.
But when you spend any time with these coaches, not
in the immediacy of a postgame situation. But when they're
(01:46:35):
a little bit calm or maybe away from it or something,
there's just such terrific guys, you know. I mean, we
see a lot of things now in sports these days
that it doesn't always taste right.
Speaker 9 (01:46:47):
Right.
Speaker 22 (01:46:48):
You know, the big time college game is is crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:46:51):
You know, you're far away from it, right and here
you're just right up with it, far away from it.
Speaker 22 (01:46:55):
But there's so many things going on that you can't
even you know, you can't accept that. It's great. This
is still what college sports was supposed to be. The
term student athlete actually belongs here, fits here. And you
know we've talked to maybe a lot about the coaches.
Speaker 10 (01:47:11):
I will tell you this now.
Speaker 22 (01:47:13):
I have interviewed at least eight teams, at least six
or eight players from over fifty players.
Speaker 3 (01:47:20):
Yeah, and I just happened to be a guy.
Speaker 23 (01:47:22):
Now.
Speaker 22 (01:47:22):
I told you I was a freshman at Platform in
nineteen seventy eight. So I'm about the youngest guy in
the stadium today, Okay. And you know a lot of
guys might sit around and go, ah, the young people today, right,
And they said it about us when we were and
I get it. And next guy who says that to me,
I'm going to say, Hey, I got at least fifty
guys and probably hundreds of guys that you need to
meet playing college football in the Yact in Wisconsin. Because
(01:47:45):
these are some of the finest, most poised, interesting guys
I've ever met in my life, and it's been a
joy to meet them throughout the summer.
Speaker 3 (01:47:52):
Well, it's a lot of fun to hear about. We'll
look forward to the book coming out. I'm sure we'll
see it on all the athletics websites WIC sports dot com. Joel,
it's great to meet youa and thanks for doing this
interview is great. Thanks so much for you, Tome. I
appreciate it all right, Joe Bank again writing that book
on the WC. Look for that more in a little
under a year or so and we'll let you know
and we know about it as well. And it's half
(01:48:12):
time here. It's oshcotsh fourteen at Stout zero. We'll be
back at about five minutes. Stand price for the start
of the second half right after this here on your

Speaker 24 (01:48:22):

the exact same thing you are listening to me, which.
Speaker 10 (01:48:27):
Let's be honest, is kind of flattering.

You ever wonder why Verizon charges twice as much as
Pure Talk for the same basic service. I think I
might have something to do with the fact that Verizon
spends twelve billion dollars a year on advertising and promotion.
That's billion with a B. Yeah, Peer Talk doesn't spend
that kind of money on commercials. That's why they can

This is UW Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
Welcome back once again here to UW Stout Don and
No No Williams Stadium, the Blue Devils and the Titans
at halftime. It's Ashkosh fourteen South zero and Zashkosh has
done enough so far to get ahead of this Blue
Devils team. And now Scout's gonna need a big time
change here in this second half, a little bit of
a reset. They have been a second half team this season.
(01:53:56):
Half the Blue Devils look back at it in their
last game again up there twenty one to ten excuse
me against So Claire and then went on to score
three unanswered touchdowns until the end of that game. And
they have put it on in the second half of
games this season, timpting against a Buke in the opening
game of the year. Jahope is this doesn't end up
feeling like the Wardburg game where the offense could just
(01:54:17):
never really get things going. They've had a couple of
good drives of the Blue Devils, just you know, finish
has been terrible in terms of those dribes relatively easy
field goal, chip shot and a bad snap on one
drive and then of course the drive that got inside
the five yard line and look like a Jojo James
touchdown call back on DeVante Evans offensive pass interference and
(01:54:38):
Zach next play he saw Adam Mohen throw his only
interception of the game to Ben Wellhaefer and it's got
to change. Something's got to change here for Stout in
this second half, they've gone over the SATs. A special
thanks to Joe Dank for joining us at halftime to
talk about his upcoming book. And I'm sure that once
he publishes that that'll be out on WIIC Sports and
(01:55:01):
much much more on their website and other spots to
find those as well, So lots of opportunity to check
that out.
Speaker 4 (01:55:07):
Kind of a cool project there. It's final in lacrosse.
Speaker 3 (01:55:10):
The Eagles hold on for a forty one to twenty
one win over UWO Player in that rivalry matchup, and
lacrosse now moves to two and zero conference play after
that big win last week in two overtimes against UW Whitewater,
River Falls as a twenty four to seven lead over
Platte Build just down the road and River Falls at
halftime of their game and just about to start the
third quarter in Stevens Point, Whitewater up twenty four to
(01:55:32):
nothing at Stevens Point. In that game, again, Oshkosh will
receive the kick to start the second half, so the
Blue Devils will need to figure out a way to
get a quick stop and get that offense back out
there again to nineteen to on eleven is the difference in.
Speaker 4 (01:55:51):
Yardage.
Speaker 3 (01:55:51):
Blue Devils only committed two penalties for twenty yards in
that first half. I say only because Stout has struggled.
They are the most penalized team in the WIAC coming
into this game. They commit on average seven and a
half penalties a game for just under eighty yards a game.
So that's at least nice to see that shor en up.
But again it's got to change in terms of the execution.
(01:56:13):
But the offensive game plan was good in the first half. Again,
just a lot of drop passes and a lot of
just mistakes from the players on the field for Stout,
and Stout will have the wind at their backs here
for the third quarter of The'll move to the north
end zone right to left as you watch and listen
at home, Oshkosh from left to right into the wind
here in the third quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:56:33):
And so I mean Stott's going to be into the
win in the fourth.
Speaker 3 (01:56:35):
So interesting choice here to have the win that you're
back in the third and not in the fourth quarter
for sut especially when you're giving the ball up to
Oshkosh to start the second half, so be interesting to
see kind of how it all works out. All right,
second half, Ready to go, Harrison jack been ready to
kick this off to the Titans. It'll be little back
(01:56:57):
with Corth. I don't think that's course over there. I
think that instead is Jackson brush. Here we go downfield
and out of the end zone. I'll tell you what,
Garrison Jackman has got a boot. St haven't been able
to see it in terms of field goal kicking yet
this season. Bad snaps. There's not a lot of opportunities
to make those long deep kicks yet in this season.
(01:57:19):
But that most chances, I'm sure he'll be coming for
him and he'll have to take advantage when he gets
them as well.
Speaker 4 (01:57:24):
All Right, ready to go is Oshkosh.
Speaker 3 (01:57:26):
We'll take the ball off to the twenty five yard
line on the far hash markfles to their sideline. Quinn Keen,
Well the good first half. Twelve of sixteen, two touchdowns,
one hundred and seventy six yards through the air. We
saw aj Corth throw for a five yard pass as well.
Fourth not in there at the moment, Keen. We'll have
his tailback bursting behind him of the pistol formation shotgun
(01:57:48):
one receiver left, one rights, A man to the right
is little Amanda the left, I believe brush over there
as the Stout sideline tries to make some noise back
to pass Keen some pressury airman. Is that one a
little too high on the far side for brush like
he might have got somebody might have got a hand
on that one, if not at the onset at the
(01:58:10):
end there when that ball was close to the intended
receiver in brush for the Blue Devils like Drew Shower
was the man who was out in defense there as
a linebacker on the edge along with Ellis and Brewer
out there as well. Two receivers right, one left, second
and tent from their own twenty five early third quarter,
(01:58:31):
fourteen to nothing. Oshkosh Keem looked to the sideline ready
for the snap pick the handoff, looks right, throws it
over the middle, caught at the thirty five and down
to the thirty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:58:41):
A late flag on the play.
Speaker 3 (01:58:43):
He's either a late hitter, it's a holding, and I'd
imagine it's a late hit here on Stout. It was
really late and it came in from the head referee
Jared letter. Yeah, that's gonna be rough in the passer,
fir footballer, Drew Shore going to be calm for the
personal foul. That's gonna mark off another fifteen yards, and
(01:59:04):
that's gonna move the ball all the way up into
Stout territory to the forty six yard line. Ends up
being about what a twelve yard game plus fifteen so again,
twenty seven yards total on that play with the pass
or with the rough in the passer as well. Three
receivers right, one to the left, a tight end offset
left in an empty backfield for Quentin Keene Blu Devil's defense.
(01:59:25):
Gotta figure it out here. They played pretty well today,
but need a big stop. They need to turnover. They
need some kind of big play. Man in motion is
little from right to left across the formation. Now he
moves back to the right a fake and option play,
rolling or running right is keen, just following blockers, and
he falls up across the body across the thirty five
and up to the thirty four yard line. That's a
(01:59:46):
twelve yard run. He just had a big man in
front of him and just followed him all the way
downfield for a twelve yard game. Enough, first down and
Oscotch moving the ball at will here to start the
second half fourteen to nothing. The Titans lead at Stout's
gotta wake up on the defensive side of the ball.
They look to the sideline. It will be one two,
three receivers left and one Hunter Gibson out to the right.
(02:00:11):
Keen again empty backfield, has a tight end in Schwaby
offset right. The man in motion is Little. They will
give it to him on a little pop pass right
side thirty five spins and he's being dragged down from
behind across the thirty up near the twenty eight yard
line by a six yard gain as Brooks Brewer just
grabbed on.
Speaker 4 (02:00:28):
To his jersey and wouldn't let him go.
Speaker 3 (02:00:30):
But Little, showing off his great speed around the right
edge on the little pop pass playinslide l on the tackle.
Corth was the man at quarterback as well, not Keen.
Keen back into the game here for the Titans as
he checks the play. He will keep Corth in the game, however,
his back up quarterback and he'll line up as a
(02:00:53):
running back behind him in the pistol formation. Ten seconds
left on the play clock, thirteen toh eight left to go,
third quarter Ashcotch fourteen Stout zero. Second and four here
for Oshkosh. Hand off to Corthy's hit and dropped Blaine
sidle in a beautiful play, knocking him back at the
thirty three yard line. That's a five yard loss as
he shoots the gap in Blaine's sidle the beautiful stop.
Speaker 4 (02:01:17):
It's third and nine.
Speaker 3 (02:01:19):
Wow. Iko Reynolds, the freshman checks in on the line
for Matt blank the junior up on the defensive end.
I'll look toward the sideline here for Oshkosh. Twelve, thirty
five left to go. Third quarter. It's third and nine
back at the Stout thirty three yard line. Fourteen to nothing,
Oshkosh and they're kicking.
Speaker 4 (02:01:38):
Into the win.
Speaker 3 (02:01:39):
Not sure if they'll get the field goal unit out there.
Stout's gonna bring in a three man change here. You
gotta get everybody off the field. They will two receivers right,
one left, two seconds on the play clock. You gotta
get the snap off. Oh there was movement there. Why
didn't they call it? Keene roll into the right looking downfield,
It's caught at the twenty five and down to the
twenty yard line. A late flag on the play as well,
(02:02:02):
ineligible man downfield is the call here against Oshcott. I
thought they got a man moving early there as well,
that they didn't call an eligible player downfield offense number
sixty forty five.
Speaker 9 (02:02:14):
Yard penalty there.
Speaker 3 (02:02:16):
Now if they said sixty three. Edwin Bilke, the left
guard was the man downfield. So they'll moving back five.
They get third and fourteen, now back at the Stout
thirty eight yard line. Stout will of course accept the penalty,
as they would have had first down yardage on that reception.
The middle of the defense has opened up here first
out a few times when King has time to throw,
(02:02:38):
it's usually the ball over the middle. That's there. Stout's
kind of playing that zone, and that's been hurting them
on when they don't get pressure on the quarterback and
King three receivers right, one to the left again two seconds,
one second, they just get the playoff. Here comes the pressure.
King steps up. He's it that he is sacked back
at the forty yard line. Dwight Kiffmeyer was there, so
(02:03:00):
was Owen Christa, so was walker Byral and that might
have knocked Oshkosh out of field goal range. Plaine Sidle
was there as well.
Speaker 9 (02:03:10):
On the playing for a stove that will go down.
Speaker 4 (02:03:13):
As a sack.
Speaker 3 (02:03:15):
About four different Blue jerseys colliding, and yeah, the punt
unit's got to come out big stop there for the
Blue Devils. It's eleven ten left to play in the
third quarter. It's Oshkosh fourteen Stout zero balls at the
forty sounds gonna play. This one's safe. They're not gonna
bring any pressure. Carter back of his own ten and
Oshkosh's gonna try to pin Stout deep. They're gonna now
(02:03:36):
split out some guys here, be ready for a potential fake. Yeah,
it's an end over end trying for the backspin punt
far side. In fact, Oshkosh has it covered well. It's
gonna take an Oshkosh bounce inside the five, roll down to.
Speaker 4 (02:03:49):
The two yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:03:52):
A beautiful punt there by Abernathy and it's the two
yard line where Stout takes over thirty eight yard punt
and that is an absolute perfect I'm there. Stout will
have it and back not altitude, it's we're just outside
the one yard line, so they're gonna have to go
about ninety eight and a half yards. They want to
score a touchdown here for the holder This would be
(02:04:14):
the time to do it right. A lot of green
in front of you. Five four chance, now first out,
they get a stop to start the second half. Ten
left to play. Third quarter, it's Oshcosh fourteen Stout zero
and the first drive of the second half. Are Stout
about to get underway. Pistol formation here for Mohen, he's
(02:04:35):
got one receiver out left, there's three tin ends. Ross
gonna go in motion, empty backfield here for Mowen. Mohen
gonna take it himself, keep it and he's sacked. Oh
my goodness, it's a safety. Holy cow. Just to run
to the left and nobody blocked the defensive end. Curtis
just Kochi coming through and it's a safety. It's sixteen nothing,
(02:04:55):
oscotch whoa what in the world was that sleep? Not
only a safety, but now Stout's gotta punt it away.
Oh my own goodness, Oh my goodness, my goodness, you
want to take a break there. I don't even know
what to do with that.
Speaker 4 (02:05:16):
Sixteen to nothing.
Speaker 3 (02:05:17):
Akosh leads in a safety. I mean it's not going
to be a sack, but I mean it was clearly
going to be a keeper. When they motioned Ross out
and Oshkosh saw it coming and they got him right away.
That's just one of those where not enough motion, not
enough trickery to fool what Oshkosh was going to try
to do there on defense and the left side of
(02:05:41):
the line, just to not hold up there for the
Blue Doves. Now they've got to kick it away at
their own twenties. So Jackman will just line it up
like a normal kick. But you can do of course,
it used to be had to do the free kick
and punt it away. But he'll just kick it. But
he's kicking into the wind and sudden after that great
stop by Stout, one play and drive over. Now you
(02:06:04):
got to give a ball back up ten thirty nine
left to play, thirty quarter to Oshcosh sixteen Stout zero. Yeah,
Soout does not come back in this game. There's just
been too many mistakes here today for this Blue Double team.
They'll line up for a normal kickoff. The returners though,
standing at their own twenty to twenty five yard line,
(02:06:26):
so they're expecting chance for a big return. Here's Jackman's
kick line drive takes a skip off the turf scooped
up at the twenty four yard line. Here near side
by little he'll run to the forty and keep pushing
the pile up to the forty five yard line. So
a very good field position coming up here for Oshkosh.
And Stout's got to figure it out again on defense.
(02:06:47):
And it has felt a few times this season, I think,
go back to that Warpurg game that Set lost sixteen
to nothing the second week of the season. That week
as well, it felt like Stout was just relying on
the defense too much. Offense didn't do enough to album
and that's another case in point there. And so now
Stout's really got to lock in defensively again, and I
(02:07:08):
hope the offense can do something when they get the
ball back. Of course, it doesn't help you when you
start on your own one yard line, but still you'd
like to see something a little better there from the
South offense. One receiver left, one right and once again
keen Out as the quarterback. It's got fourth to his right,
he's back up quarterback tailback. And you got a play clock. Yeah,
(02:07:32):
we got a delay a game coming up. Oscott sho
didn't realize it, and Oscott is asking did the clock
start too early?
Speaker 4 (02:07:39):
What's up with that?
Speaker 3 (02:07:40):
But it started and officials were cool with it, and
it's a delay of game. Peter Jennings going crazy on
the sideline, but that's going to back him up to
a first and fifteen back to their thirty nine yard line.
A little bit of a bonus there for Stout on
(02:08:03):
this drive to start interesting out on the right edge.
The receiver that's out there, Hunter Scape was covering him.
They handed off up the middle and there is absolutely
nothing there. There's not a lot you can say. Is
Courth gets tackled to give him forward progress right back
to the line of scrimmage. In fact, they're going to
lose a couple of yards there. In fact, they're gonna
say he's lost two. Lane's sidle is another big tackle
(02:08:25):
for loss. He loses two back to the thirty seven,
so second and seventeen. That was Corth on the carry.
Hard to say anything about this rush defense for Stouts
that's only allowed forty one yards on the ground, a
team that so far the season averages just fifty five
yards allowed on the ground. Run defense has been there. Yeah,
(02:08:47):
it's Hunter Scape who's out covering one of the receivers.
Now he floats back in. They're keen looking over the middle,
looking to go deep over the top. It is up
and incomplete and Elis with the deflection. Will jump ball
set up back in the twenty five yard line. Oscosh
wanted to hold her pass interference. They didn't get it,
as that sintender for Jackson brush incomplete third and long.
(02:09:08):
Third and seventeen coming up here for Oshcosh. Stout needs
to get the ball back into the offense's hands. Down
now sixteen to nothing after a safety to start off
this half. Nine forty one left to play. Third quarter
man out wide right is Coman Holloway. Three receivers to
(02:09:31):
the left for Keen in the middle of the hash
mark third and seventeen forw thirty seven yard line. Gotta
get an into stout territory to the forty six for
a first down. Gibson goes in motion back out to
the left side. Keen steps up. He's hitting sack. Sidle
there again signal with another tackle for loss. This time
it's a sack all the way back to the thirty two.
Speaker 4 (02:09:50):
Yard line, a five yard loss.
Speaker 3 (02:09:52):
Oscotch is going backwards because the offense finally respond Here
for the Blue Devils, I think the thing is is
again you still have lots of I'm if Stout's offense
can just get put one good drive together, get a
touchdown on the board, you could potentially be within one
score and then it's a brand new ball game. Give
(02:10:13):
Oshkosh defense a lot of credit. They had only allowed
one hundred and nine yards today. As Abernathy is ready
to punt, standing back inside his own twenty carter, standing
at his own thirty five yard line, Stout gonna bring
the pressure here. They don't get there wobbling spiral near side.
The wind gonna push it though, and it will go
out of bounds around the twenty five yard line. Pretty
(02:10:34):
good punt and whistles, no no flags, a little bit
extra pushing and shoving, and now a little bit of
sharing there toward the Oshkosh fans and all the stands
here on the near side. And there is a flag
that did come in late, and I think this is
(02:10:55):
going to go against Oshkosh.
Speaker 4 (02:10:56):
I didn't see it.
Speaker 3 (02:10:57):
It was kind of locked by the hash mark. Let's
see when the call is here from Jared Letter.
Speaker 8 (02:11:03):
Better.
Speaker 3 (02:11:06):
Are you go? So it's unsportsmanlike conducts and that's gonna
mark up fifteen yards for the blue Devil, so that'll
put him up to their own forty yard line.
Speaker 4 (02:11:25):
They said number.
Speaker 3 (02:11:26):
Fifteen Halloway was called for it all right, so at
your own forty eight fifty seven hard me forty seven
left to play. They're in the third sixteen nothing osh
gosh to your receivers. Right one left here for Adam Mowen.
Mowen will not give the handoff and said he looks
(02:11:47):
deep over the middle of fort Evans catch made thirty
twenty five, purns it up into twenty. He turns on
the Jets of the nisode touch bloodles. Davanta Evans goes
sixty yards and just got the boot Evils out of nowhere,
score a ten and they are into the end zone
(02:12:09):
and then extra after the play as well. I don't
think we've seen a flag here. Stout wants, I believe,
to go for two. Davante Evans lighting it up. They're
asking which hash mark Stout wants it on. I think
they want it on the near hash mark. In college football,
(02:12:32):
you put it at the three for a two point conversion,
sixteen to six. After the touchdown from DeVante Evans, eight
thirty six left to go, third quarter and it's the
two point conversion. Mowen in the shotgun with Hughes behind
him in the pistol. Three receivers, bunch right, one man
out to the left side. Here is Fara fir Stout.
I'll send Hughes out in motion. Mowen, get a little
fade route for Fara and that's incomplete. Lots of contact
(02:12:55):
and no call and that's incomplete. So sixteen to six
Oshkosh with the lead over Stout. But Stout finally on
the board with eight thirty six remaining in the third quarter.
We're back right after this here on the WIAC Sports Network.

Speaker 3 (02:13:49):
One play sixty yards a touchdown pass from Adamo into
Devonte Evans. Evans it's fifth touchdown up the season, and
Stout is now on the board, but the two point
convert should no good. So sixteen to six, Oshkosh with
the lead on Stout. Eight thirty six left to go.
A third quarter, and once again the defense is gonna
have to come up for Stout. They've been on the
(02:14:09):
field a lot here in this second half, as subs
only run two offensive plays, but when one of them
is a sixty yard touchdown, I guess you won't mind
that too much. As the Blue Devils get ready for
the kickoff here they win at their backs for another
eight minutes and thirty six seconds.
Speaker 4 (02:14:23):
So this third quarter, Garrison Jackman to kick it away
and a good one.
Speaker 3 (02:14:29):
Little We'll let that one go through the back of
the end zone and it will be the twenty five
yard line for Osh Gosh, and we'll see the Blue
Devils come out on defense plain side l with those
beautiful last series, a couple tackles for loss, including a sack.
He has been all over the field and he's a
(02:14:50):
guy that if you think right now we're going to
stop the season. I mean he's got to be a
candidate for first TEAMWAYAK player in the linebacking grow he
who has been great, and he's been great today, and
he'll come out to lead this defense because once again
Quentin Keene back out at the quarterback position. He's got
(02:15:11):
Urson is his tailback. One receiver left, one right, two
tight ends offset left end right. This noise being made
by the Stout sideline once again, and these fans will
get the handoff. Berson running left. He's tripped up not
a lot, maybe a half a yard off on the
left side. It was Shower who was there initially. I
(02:15:32):
think oh and Christa might have tripped him up in
the backfield and he fell forward for about a half
a yard gain. He'll be second and ten here for
the Titans. Sixteen to six. Titans with the lead, Blue
Devils hanging in and now relying on that defense with
a couple of newcomers to the game. Here for Oshkosh,
Matthew and Gibson in bigger receivers set here for Osh Gosh.
(02:15:57):
Fourteen seconds left on the play Fox Stout. It's going
to keep the defense out there. Had an opportunity to
sub that late substitution, but they won't take it. Keen
in the shotgun. Two receivers left to right, pake the
handoff back to passer. Comes the pressure again. He is
sacked back inside the twenty yard line. Gang sacked there
by the Blue Devils, a bunch of Blue jerseys. Helsel
was there on the top, and it was Drew Shower
(02:16:19):
who was there on the bottom. I think a little
bit of help from Sayer as well. Big loss inside
the twenty back to the eighteen yard line. It's an
eight yard loss. It's starting long for Oshkosh. On third
and seventeen. You need to get to the thirty five
for a first down. The ball back of the eighteen
yard line. Two receivers left, two to the right. Keen
quickly breaking out the play here stout looking like they're
(02:16:41):
bringing pressure. They send a man in motion left to
right across the formation.
Speaker 4 (02:16:45):
Keen looking right. Nothing there sets up a screenplay.
Speaker 3 (02:16:47):
It is caught and to the twenty five and down
near the twenty seven yard line. Out of the backfield
goes to backup running back Emil Jackson. He does not
have it up for the first down. It's the punt
you know, to back out there again for the Titans.
Got a lot of it back, but not enough of
it about a ten yard game when they needed seventeen.
(02:17:09):
Fourth and seven now from their own twenty eight yard
line and back to punt is John Abernathy. Carter standing
at his own forty a probably thirty nine yard line
and Abernathy back of his own fifteen would be punt
block time for them. Six thirty left to play. Third
quarter Oscot sixteen Stout six gets it away line draft,
(02:17:32):
terrible punt, but it takes an oshcosh. Bunt's gonna roll
past the forty yard line and then it will be
down at the thirty seven of Stout about a thirty
five yard punt somewhere in that range. They mark it
at the thirty seven, So Stout with goodfield position about.
Speaker 4 (02:17:51):
Where they started the last drive.
Speaker 3 (02:17:53):
The last digest one play on a Devonte Evans touchdown
reception of sixty yards, Stouts right there in it down
two scores. Terrible start to the second half when they
gave up that safety right away, but the defense has
stood tall. Think Scout's defense, I mean, like most years,
(02:18:15):
right if you have a good defense, your defense can
carry you can keep the in games, and who knows,
if your offense gets hot at the right time, you
can beat anybody. It's a feeling that you're starting to
give with this team that this defense can keep stout
in most games this season. First and ten from their
own thirty seven, mowing in the shotgun. He will fake
the handoff to ross looking over the middle. He's got
a good pocket, gonna step up and run with the
thirty five to the forty if our side trying to
(02:18:37):
bounce it out on the edge, and he will get
taken down out of bounds at the forty three yard
line and the forty four and about a seven yard
scramble out to the right side. The middle kind of
opened up and there weren't a lot of spies left
for Oscotch to chase him down before he got seven
yards on the scramble to the right. So the forty
four yard line, they go, that's a seven yard game.
(02:18:58):
It's second and three from their own forty four yard line.
Adam Owen with the scramble and give Adam Mowen now
a total of nineteen netted yards in this game. Two
receivers to the left, two tight ends right, pistol formation
again with Ross behind him. Second and three. The feeling
like Stout's running here and they are give it to
(02:19:19):
Ross bouncing left. He doesn't have much maybe a yard
to the forty five yard line, just running to the
left side of the formation and good penetration by Curtis Jiskalky.
Speaker 4 (02:19:30):
He has been big up the middle all game.
Speaker 3 (02:19:33):
And it'll be third and about two, third and along
to one of the horns of the Blue Devil there
at midfield. Need to get to the forty seven yard
line for a first down. Ball just past the forty
four five twenty five left to go, third quarter. That's
the Oscosh fans down below is making some noise. Two
receivers left, one riot here for Stout. I'll send Carter,
(02:19:56):
who is a tailback out as a receiver now in
the slot. Mowen awaiting the snow Oshkosh looks like they'll
bring pressure. They rush five. Bowen steps up. He throws
over the middle, caught Evans across the forty five miss
forty there's that thirty five thirty. It's a sprint down
the sideline and he's taken down from behind across the
twenty lake flag coming in. This is a horse collar tackle.
It'll be happening this so the goal, it's gonna be
(02:20:16):
first gold for the Blue Devils. We are under five
minutes up to play in the third quarter. First, he
was taken down at the fourteen yard line. That's gonna
put the ball up to seven. It's gonna be first
and goal for Stout. Davonte Evans the third quarter is
his m ome man, coming out of the halftime locker
(02:20:38):
room looking great. Here's a call from Jared Letter face
mask is the call, and so the ball now moves
to the seven yard line. It's first and goal for Stout.
Down sixteen to six to Oshkosh, four to fifty nine
left third quarter, so still lots of time left in
this game. The line of the clock, Stout will look
(02:21:01):
to the sideline for the play. It's Carter and Evans
wide left, two tight ends, one left, one right, Frank
to the left and Charlie Place to the right. Ross
is the tailback off to the right of Mowan in
the shotgun near hash Mark sends Carter in motion left
to right across the formation.
Speaker 4 (02:21:19):
It's a fake handoff. They're gonna go. Fader Oute to Evans.
Speaker 9 (02:21:21):
Up.
Speaker 3 (02:21:21):
It's bottled.
Speaker 13 (02:21:22):
He cut it.
Speaker 3 (02:21:24):
He tipped it to himself in the corner. Cut it. Touchdown.
Blue Devils over Trevor Bars. It's sixteen to twelve lash
Cosh after another DeVante Evans touchdown reception, his sixth of
the season. Davante Evans is a one man show and
(02:21:44):
it will be the extra point formation here for Stout.
Four thirty five left to play third Quoder. How about
this third quarter from the Blue Devils, Jack Ben on
to attempt the extra point. Mowen is again the holder.
Need a good snap, got a good snap, the holds down,
the kick is up from Jackman and it is good.
(02:22:06):
Sixteen thirteen Oshkosh with the league. Four thirty five lock
to play third quarter. We come back right after this
here on the WIAC Sports Network.
Speaker 29 (02:22:13):

Speaker 1 (02:22:43):
Goodhay, this is UW Stout Football on News Talk wm eq.
Speaker 3 (02:22:55):
Welome back here, dude, donad know to Williams Stadium. Adam
Owen was eight of fifteen going into the second half
after a rough first half for him. He is three
of three in this second half for a total of
one hundred and nine yards, two touchdowns, and he completes
a big touchdown reception there to DeVante Evans.
Speaker 4 (02:23:16):
A couple of big touches on that drive.
Speaker 3 (02:23:19):
Evans now with five receptions for one hundred and thirty
yards and two touchdowns. Garrison Jackman's kick, we'll sail through
the end zone again. It'll be another touchback here and
Oshkosh will bring it out to the twenty five yard line.
So Stout with two big time drives. The defense has
come up big in the second half as well, and
Oshkosh looking for an answer. As Oshkosh leads at sixteen
(02:23:40):
to thirteen, you're over Stout with four and thirty five
left to play in the third quarter. Energy momentum, if
you believe in that kind of stuff. It is all
in favor of the men in blue here today. So
once again it will be quick Keen out at the
(02:24:05):
quarterback position. One receiver left, one right at the twenty
five far hashmark, left to right. They go here in
the third takes the snap, rolls right, looking over the top.
He's got a man in the flat catch made hick
made immediately Dawson Goodman put the hit on Courth out
of the backfield. Thought he actually had a man over
the middle. I think it was Clayton Swabby who was
(02:24:27):
close to being open over the middle, but he was
looking for the check down the whole way and it's
an immediate hit from Goodman. It's a three yard gain
to the twenty eight yard line. But what a hit
put on by Dawson. Goodman came in with seventeen total
tackles and a pick. It's TfL as well, and that's
a big tackle there after a three yard game. Second
and seven here for Oshkosh. Four minutes left to play.
(02:24:48):
Third quarter, it's sixteen to thirteen. Titans leader Keen in
the shotgun. Two receivers out to the left. He waits
the snap, takes fakes a handoff, looks left the entire way,
throws it left up and caught past the forty yard
line and out of Allen's at the forty four goes
Hunter Gibson. Gibson getting open in the flat. They'll mark
them out at the forty three. It's a fifteen yard game.
(02:25:09):
It's a first down here for Oshcosh out of the
forty three for the Devils. Three twenty eight left to
play here in the third stout six our part of
the Oscotch sixteen Stout thirteen. Titans checking their wristbands here
for this play must be deep down on the wristband
(02:25:31):
because they're all looking and reading pretty deep and still
looking and reading. Now twelve seconds left on the plate clock.
Now they'll set everything up. Brush goes and moves out
wide right, one receiver to the left as well, and
they'll fake the hand off. Keene rolling to his left
looking downfield.
Speaker 4 (02:25:47):
Nobody open.
Speaker 3 (02:25:48):
The checkdown is there, and it's the tight end who
gets hit immediately by Brooks. Brewer.
Speaker 4 (02:25:52):
Schwalby gets a catch for one to the four.
Speaker 3 (02:25:55):
It'll be second and nine. Schwamby caught it good defense downfield.
The only options were to that left side on the
rollout for Keen. There was nobody else back or anywhere downfield.
Stout had it covered really really well. Just check down
to the man he had there and Schwamby, who mains it,
makes a catch, but barely any game. Just one yard
on the play, second to nine from their own forty
(02:26:16):
four yard line. Two thirty left to go, third quarter,
lots of time left. Sixteen thirteen, Oshkush one receiver left
one to the right keen of the shotgun. It's out
showing blitz. They don't bring it. He looks to the right,
now looks back left, throws it over the middle up
and it is incomplete, almost intercepted again. Rix Brewer was close.
A little jump ball over the top for Kelln Mela
(02:26:39):
the backup tight end incomplete third and nine. That was
that ball did not have a lot of zip on it,
kind of between the hash and the numbers on the
fire side, and it was a jump ball. Brewer was
there with Mela. There's another blue devil behind it as well.
That ball could have tipped anywhere. Fortunately for Gosh, it
(02:27:00):
falls to the turf. It's third and nine from their
own forty four yard line, fifteen seconds left on the
plake clock. The clock stopped on the incompletion at two
fifteen sixteen thirteen oscotch leagues two receivers right, went left.
Keene takes a snap, looks over the middle. Now he's
gonna be out of the pressure. He's gonna run with
it makes a movies tackled from behind them at the
fifty yard line by Walker, and he's gonna be two
(02:27:22):
three yards short of the first down. Walker gets them
from behind. Keen is down at the Stout forty nine.
After the scramble, it's gonna be fourth and two. The
punt unit's coming out for Oshkosh. Abernathy is coming out
here for the Titans and for Stout. I think you
play this one as safe as possible. This feels like
(02:27:44):
fake punt range if you're Oshkosh, and I think for
Stout they're gonna just have to stay back, play a
little zone coverage, and make sure no one tries to
go for the fake. Here ten seconds left on the
play clock, Carter's standing in his own fifteen yard line.
Ambernathy takes the snap and he will punt it away
(02:28:04):
end over end Wobbler. Carter will take the fair catch
just outside the twenty about the eighteen nineteen yard line.
They're gonna say the eighteen yard line, now the seventeen.
It is where they'll market and so Stout will start
at their own seventeen yard line. With one twenty two
left in the third quarter, Oshcosh sixteen, Stout thirteen, Blue
Devils have the ball down just three, and after the
(02:28:25):
way the first half went in the start of this
second half, to be down just three and you're not
out of the third quarter yet, I think you feel
pretty good about it.
Speaker 4 (02:28:33):
If you're the Blue Devils.
Speaker 3 (02:28:35):
Stout trying to move to four and one on the season.
Let's let's be pray again. You don't want to get
ahead of yourselves. Oshkosh the eleventh ranked team in the country.
Stout wins this game, and it would take a lot
to do it. There's a quick snap. There was somebody
off side here. I think there might have been contact
with the man who jumped off side defensive.
Speaker 4 (02:28:56):
Lineman there, that's Ethan McClain. And then Stout just to
to snap it. TJ.
Speaker 3 (02:29:01):
Scott did before it was called for so it's either
going to be a legal snap er off side. Yeah,
it's off side.
Speaker 8 (02:29:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:29:10):
McClean jumped off side and Scott saw it, and I
wonder if he got contacted there and he just decided
to snap it. There was contact encroachment there. First and
five now for Stout at their own twenty two yard line.
As they moved up five yards here in the third
Oshkosh sixteen Stout thirteen Jojo James was the tailback. He'll
(02:29:31):
motion out as a wide receiver on the right side.
Three receivers on that side for Stout. Mowen takes the
snap four man rush, steps up away from the pressure,
throws right, catch me by Carter to the thirty trying
to dance around. He does to the thirty five. Push
backwards at the thirty seven hole onto the ball.
Speaker 23 (02:29:44):
Carter, yes, he did.
Speaker 3 (02:29:45):
He held on to it. Thirty six yard line is
where they give him poor progress to. It's a fourteen
yard game. You just waiting for them to start stripping
and hacking at the ball, punching at the ball. And
he held on tight. First and ten first Stout of
their own thirty six fifty five seconds left to go.
Third quarter, Oshkosh sixteen Stout thirteen. Three receivers left, one
(02:30:06):
tight end and two tight ends out to the right
to throw it out to the right side. Well James
James makes a catch, good block thirty five year side forty.
He's pushed out of bounds there the forty five yard line.
That's an eight maybe a seven yard game. I think
they're giving him eight yards. They jammess a defender down.
Chad Garrig, the strong safety's holding his right shoulder in
a situation that looks like he took a shot there.
(02:30:29):
Let's hope it's nothing more than just a stinger, but
he's holding his right arm at his side and now
down to a knee. Took a stinger there going out
of bounds on that catch made by Carter for an
eight yard game to the forty four It's gonna be
second and two with forty two seconds remaining when we
resumed two or second and two. Oshkosh sixteen Stout thirteen.
(02:30:53):
This is starting to look like the best game out there.
River Falls leading thirty one to fourteen over Platteville, six
fifty left to play third quarter. There about to start
the fourth quarter in Stevens point Whitewater up thirty one
to seven on the pointers, and again earlier today an
earlier start lacrosse winning forty one to twenty one over
u W Claire. So they will take a look at
(02:31:16):
Garig on the sideline. I think Caleb Brooks is in
at the other safety spot with Ben weilhef paper. Sound's
got a second and two at their own forty four.
Ross will go in motion out to the right side
the tailback and he'll line up as a receiver. Two
receivers now to the right, one to the left. Mowan
in the shotgun takes a snapboor Man rush looking over
the middle, will lunch this one up for James. It's incomplete,
(02:31:38):
overthrown and then it look like a catchable ball. There
just kind of a fade route when Joe Joe James
just stands at six foot one hundred ninety five pounds,
giving up a little size there the near side to
the six foot one. Trevor bars incomplete third and two
now in stout his run. In these short third down situations,
they have found absolutely no space. So and you know,
(02:32:00):
on a I guess a more traditional run. So if
you're gonna run, it's gotta be mowing, scrambling, mowing on
a design boot, that type of thing.
Speaker 4 (02:32:09):
Let's see if that's what they do.
Speaker 3 (02:32:10):
At their own forty four to twenty seconds left in
the third the clock stopped on the endcompletion, Ross is
a tailback. Mowen goes under center sixteen thirteen, oshkosh. They
will fake the handof Mowen gonna roll out to his right.
Can he get the edge? He's gonna try for it.
He's going toward the sideline. He's got it out of
bounds at the forty eight and he needed two, he
got four. It's first down for the Blue Devils with
(02:32:31):
thirteen seconds remaining here in the third quarter. Oshkosh, sixteen
stop thirteen. They'll roll the clock. I don't think Stout's
gonna run another play, and the Blue Devils is gonna
have the ball near midfield at their own forty eight
down three to start the fourth quarter. We've got a
heck of a finish. Come on your way, and we'd
love to have you along with us for the ride,
(02:32:52):
both on NUSTAK WMQ and on the WYAC Sports Network.
It's gonna be a good one. Stay tuned, be back
right after this with Oshkosh up three here on the
WIAC Sports Network.

Speaker 1 (02:33:35):
This is UW Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (02:33:41):
Welcome back here to Dona, No No william A Stadium.
The Blue Devils with a heck of a third quarter
to make this a sixteen thirteen ball game. Oshkoshahead three,
but stop with the ball at their own forty eight
yard line and a verse and ten about to get underway.
To start the four, Stout went down sixteen and nothing
app there a safety on their first offensive play of
(02:34:03):
the second half. Since then, two DeVante Evans touchdowns have
Stout within three on a first and ten at their
own forty eight yard line ross the tailback of the
pistol two receivers out to the left the snap taken,
there is a flag on the play.
Speaker 4 (02:34:17):
Mowen looking over the middle, there's nothing.
Speaker 3 (02:34:19):
They're gonna roll to the right, looks to run for
it to the fifty and out of bounds across the
forty five to the forty four, maybe the forty three.
Either Stout had an illegal formation or somebody was off
side for Oshkosh. I'd imagine that's the case here, and
the way they're pointing at it, I think Stout this
is going to be on oschcotsh You're asking play Birmingham
(02:34:39):
if he wants the penalty first and five or he
wants a second in one. Basically, I think he's probably
gonna take the second and one. So this is on Oshkosh,
and I think Scout's gonna take the penalty and go
first and five. Yeah, so off side on the plays, Carson,
(02:35:03):
Nickel and Stout would rather have first and five than
second and one, it looks like. So they'll negate a
few of those yards on the Mowen scramble and just
go with the penalty yards.
Speaker 4 (02:35:12):
Instead to keep first down.
Speaker 3 (02:35:14):
So it's into Oshkosh territory of the forty seven yard line,
first and five from the Oshkosh forty seven fourteen forty
two left to play here in the fourth sixteen thirteen
Oshcotch leads huge motions out as a receiver to the
left side. Three receivers left, one right. Mowen takes a
snap to five man rush is a whistle and a
false start. So after all that, we're gonna go back
(02:35:35):
to first and ten, back to their forty eight yard line.
Speaker 4 (02:35:41):
Motion there from Evans.
Speaker 3 (02:35:44):
And so stout, we'll go backwards here five yards and
after scramble and two penalties, right back to where we started.
Apple newcomers into the game here, no tailbacks at the moment.
For scouts offense, they look to the sideline. Fara and
James Gonna split out wide left, Williams, Carter and Evans
(02:36:07):
wide rights, empty backfield. Williams goes in motion now to
the left side, two receivers right, three left, looks right,
throw to Evans. Catch, made it the forty five. He's
got the first down. Yes, Hee does forty one yard
line an eleven yard game, a first down on the
right edge. Tackle made by Kyle Deetson and others. But
(02:36:29):
he's got a first down to the forty one. Still
lots of time left in this game, thirteen fifty left
to play on the fourth Oshkosh sixteen stout thirteen. Davante
Evans coming up big in this second half. He now
has seven receptions for one hundred and forty one yards.
(02:36:49):
Two receivers left, one right. Man in motion is Hues
out of the backfield, who go out wide left as well.
Takes a snap mow and here comes a pressure, gonna
roll away from it. Throws right catch, made tight end
Mason Frank down the sideline. He said, the twenty to
the fifteen, taking down inside the ten yard line. We'll
mark him down at the eight. Officially, what a play.
(02:37:09):
Frank was left.
Speaker 4 (02:37:10):
Wine open, why alone and a big.
Speaker 3 (02:37:13):
Play of thirty three yards down field. It's first in
gold from the a stouts within field goal range. Should
tie it for sure, but they're thinking about the lead
one receiver right, two to the left. They take a
quick snap. It's a handoff to Hughes up the gut,
trying to bounce past the line. He'll get to the five.
Maybe I think they're gonna get a six here. Just
trying to put a quick hurry up there and the
(02:37:35):
quick hand off. You see a lot of times teams
do that. He'll get two yards to the right and
second in bowl from the six yard line. CJ Reliance
with the tackle. Charlie Klie the other tie end coming
back into the game as well. Here for South, giving
(02:37:55):
Frank a little bit of a rest after that big
long run. Stops having a little bit of difficulty getting
the play in. Here two receivers left, one right. Mowen
in the shotgun with us to his left. Seven seconds
left on the play clock, twelve twenty five to go,
fourth quarter, second and goal from the six yard line.
Mowen takes a snap of two in the play clock,
takes the hand up, looks over for the slant. Oh,
(02:38:16):
it's dropped. Oh my goodness, in the end zone. It's dropped.
Was that Devorak or was that far up de Vorak
who'd come into the game. The ball was thrown just
a touch behind him and he had to adjust and
he couldn't bring the ball down to the turf. Its
third and goal from the six. It should have been
a touchdown to take the lead, and it wasn't. He
(02:38:39):
had to wait a split second for Devorak to kind
of get out of the little mash of defenders and
receivers on the left side. When he did, he came
wide open and the ball was thrown just a touch
behind him. Made the adjustment, went off his hands incomplete.
Ten seconds left on the play clocks third and goal
from the six. Mowen in the shotgun. Two receivers left,
one right, looks left the entire way. Pressure coming, got
(02:38:59):
a stack up, he will throws right. Catch made by
Carter to the end zone. He's down at the one
foot line, and now Stout's got a decision. Carter makes
the catch at the one foot line. It's gonna be
fourth hand goal from the one foot line here for Stout.
Speaker 4 (02:39:15):
Carter made the catch.
Speaker 3 (02:39:16):
It about the two fell forward, couldn't get the ball
over the plane, and I wonder if Scout's gonna take
a time out here.
Speaker 4 (02:39:23):
Got a lot of time, twenty four to twenty three
left on.
Speaker 3 (02:39:25):
The plate clock. They're trying to figure out what they
want to do. I think they gotta have They're gonna
have to go for it. But Clay Birmingham's gonna take
a time out as the clock ticks down, and they're
gonna talk about what they want to do. So Stout's
content to take a time out in this situation that
happen with eleven twenty eight left to play here in
(02:39:49):
the fourth Oshkosh sixteen, Stout thirteen. I love to take
a break, but I want to make sure we're here
for whatever happens. On fourth down, it's gonna be fourth
and goal from the one line. After that Avron Carter reception,
Stout on the doorstep to take the lead against Oshkosha
and there eleventh ranked team in the country according to
(02:40:11):
D three football dot Com, fourteenth ranked according to the
Coach's Poll. Lacrossell winner earlier today against So Claire River Falls,
leading thirty one to fourteen over Platteaum three minutes left
in the third There Whitewater up thirty eight to seven.
Speaker 4 (02:40:25):
On Stevens point nine to twenty three left to go.
Speaker 3 (02:40:27):
Fourth quarder of that game. Stout now with more yards
in Oshkosh. They've got three to zero two in the
game to the two sixty six of the Titans.
Speaker 4 (02:40:35):
Adam Owen fifteen of twenty.
Speaker 3 (02:40:36):
Four for two touchdowns and an interception at two hundred
and fifty four yards. He has also run for twenty
three Ross has twelve yards on the ground. Devontae Evans
having himself a game six receptions, one hundred and forty
one yards and two touchdowns. Mason Brank that big reception
on the last play is.
Speaker 4 (02:40:53):
Up to thirty eight yards receiving in the game.
Speaker 3 (02:40:56):
The other side, Keene seventeen of twenty four for two
to nineteen touchdowns as well.
Speaker 4 (02:41:02):
I mean, Stout, I don't know how you.
Speaker 3 (02:41:05):
I mean, you have to go forward here, right, I
get that the three ties the game, but you're too close.
And yet they're bringing the offense out there. Everybody is
on their feet. Mowen as ross as his tailback, Oshkosh
gonna load the box here. They're expecting a run. This
(02:41:27):
looks like a touch push situation here, Mowing under center.
He's got two tight ends behind them, Oshkosh lining up.
Speaker 4 (02:41:33):
Mowing takes the snap, they touch push.
Speaker 3 (02:41:35):
Him toward the end zone. The fuck he's got it
waiting for the signal. That's devils push, push it into
the end zone. I'm gonna call it the devil bevel
right there, right into the end zone. It's nineteen sixteen.
(02:41:58):
Stout eleven twenty two left to play. Fourth quarter. Garrison
Jack Bent on for the extra point. Brotherly shove the
devil bevel extra point about to be attempted, snap spot
(02:42:19):
kickup kick Good twenty to sixteen Stout twenty unanswered so
far here for the Blue Devils, Oscosh will look for
the answer with eleven twenty two left to play on
the fourth when we come back.
Speaker 4 (02:42:30):
You're on your home the Blue Devils.
Speaker 2 (02:42:33):

axle on your trailer just so you have an excuse

In between a Claire Menominee off Interstate ninety four, This
is UW Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (02:43:13):
It took about forty eight minutes plus for the Blue
Devils to take their first lead in this game against
uw Oscotch. But that's what they've done on the push
push on fourth and goal and anam moment going in
from a half a yard out on the push from
Mason Frank and others behind him into the end zone,
and Stout now has a twenty to sixteen lead here
(02:43:36):
over Ashcotch eleven twenty two left to play. Drive summary
for Stout eleven plays eighty three yards, five minutes and
the touchdown puts Stout up twenty to sixteen. The kick
from Jackman to the near side. It will be received
at the three yard line, rush with the return to
the fifteen to the twenty. Nothing else. It's a gang
(02:43:58):
tackle for the special team's unit for the Blue Devils.
Speaker 4 (02:44:01):
Twenty yard line is where Ashcotch takes over.
Speaker 3 (02:44:06):
Ashcott Blue Devils popping up out of the pile there
Colt Parker the late and the two deep. I have
bracks and money cons and good go today and Parker
at the bottom of the pile getting the tackle. So
here comes the Ashcosh offense, which has been less than
great in this second half. Again, they have not scored
(02:44:27):
a point in the second half. The two points for
Aschcosh in the second half were a safety. After that
first drive, they punted pin Stout at the one and
Stout got hit for a safety. Since then it's been
all Stout twenty to sixteen. They leaded over Oshkosh eleven
fifteen to go. Kean fakes a handoff, looks over the middle,
looking to go deep. Stout can't get there on the pressure.
(02:44:48):
Now he gets away from it, throws in complete, threw
it off the knee of his receiver here on the
near side, Holloway. It's second and ten pressure from Walker
into the backfield for Stout like Jacob Didle was there
almost getting home. So how with that three month man
(02:45:11):
front sometimes has trouble getting sacks on a guy, but
they have pressured Keen a lot here today second and
ten from their own twenty two receivers right, one left,
twenty to sixteen Stout. Keane takes a snap, looks left,
now rolls out to his right. Blank gets away from
the pressure. Then he can't get the sack on him.
He gets hit from behind. He holds onto the ball.
Speaker 4 (02:45:30):
Will be a one yard loss.
Speaker 3 (02:45:32):
What a hit from behind by Drew Shauer wow A
Sacket's third and eleven.
Speaker 10 (02:45:38):
The guy girls showing.
Speaker 3 (02:45:43):
Third and eleven coming up for Oshkosh, listen to this
Stout crowd. They haven't gotten quiet for about twenty minutes
of actual time. They come to their feet here on
third down and eleven back of their own nineteen yard line.
Speaker 4 (02:45:59):
Fifteen second. It's left on the plate clock.
Speaker 3 (02:46:01):
The clock takes down on the game clock, down past
the ten twenty five mark of the fourth quarter. It's
Stout twenty. It's Ashcock sixteen. Two receivers right, two left,
fall on the far hash mark shotgun per keene Keane
takes a snap, takes the handoff, just a two man
rush here for Stout. It almost gets home. They launched
it deep over the middle. There is it. Oh, I
think he dropped it. Ellis dropped it at the last moment,
(02:46:24):
and the ball did not survive the ground. He had it,
and then it popped out as he hit the turf.
He's also heard as I think the wind might have
gotten knocked out him and he went so high into
the air that Ellis he had it, and when he
came down to the turf, the ball just popped out
of there because of the hit that the turf gave him.
But regardless, it's a three and out and Stout well
(02:46:48):
force a punt here from Abernathy tenh eight to go.
Speaker 4 (02:46:52):
Fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (02:46:53):
Now that interception would have been around the forty five
yard line, which is where Carter is standing, so it
would have kind of worked like a punt anyway, with
how deep of a throw that was over the top.
Speaker 4 (02:47:02):
Oh, there's a moment false start here on Oshkosh.
Speaker 3 (02:47:05):
Stout looked like they were coming on a blocked punts,
and about three or four guys moved for the Titans.
Nobody violated the neutral zone for Stout. This should be
on oscotsh Why are they talking about.
Speaker 4 (02:47:19):
Jared Letter with the call? False start is the call?
Speaker 3 (02:47:27):
And that back's Oshcosh back up to the fourteen fourth
and sixteen now officially twenty to sixteen. Stout ten oh
eight to go here in the fourth and now Carter's
standing almost at midfield, got the wind at their back.
Here does Abernathy's standing at the goal line. Stout looks
to bring the pressure. It's a good snap, no block,
(02:47:47):
no uh running into Carter's gonna.
Speaker 4 (02:47:49):
Let this bounce. I'm not really sure.
Speaker 3 (02:47:51):
Why goes inside the forty of Stout inside the thirty
five and down at the thirty four and a good
punt in the end. Thirty six plus sixteen is what?
Fifty two fifty two yard punt?
Speaker 4 (02:48:04):
Not bad?
Speaker 3 (02:48:05):
He's not bad at all.
Speaker 4 (02:48:08):
So Stout's got the ball back at.
Speaker 3 (02:48:09):
Their own thirty six under ten to play, nine to
fifty six to go, and now Stout's playing with the league. Yeah,
I think how good Stout's offense is. Spend in the
second half. Don't change anything still, you know, keep going
for the end zone. Play like you're down a couple again.
I think the the you know, the tendency here is
to start running the ball and run clock. But there's
(02:48:30):
still too much time. I think for that, you gotta
still go on the attack. Let's see if Stout does.
It's Chandler Ross the tailback, two tight ends now motion
to the right side. Two receivers of the left, Carter
and Evans. No one sends Ross to his left and
he will fake the handoff. Mowen rolls left and stops
and throws deep for Carter. Oh, he dropped it again,
his second drop of the game. Across the fifty. Carter
(02:48:54):
had it and he dropped it. Holy cow, stops the
clock on the in completion with nine to fifty to go.
That should have been a first down into Osh Gosh territory.
Perfect throw. Hit him in a bad spot, right in
the numbers. Yeah, I mean that was right on the money.
Carter can't believe it. Twenty to sixteen. Stout with the
(02:49:16):
lead nine to fifty to go. Fourth quarter, second and
ten from their own thirty four yard line. Mo one
in the shotgun pistol again with Ross behind him, two
receivers out to the left, second and ten need the
forty four for a first down. Ross motions to the left.
They will give it to him this time. Running right now,
finds a hole across the thirty five. Still his feet
across the forty. He's got first down yardage. I think
(02:49:37):
they moved the chains. It's a ten yard game for
Chandler Ross. What a run.
Speaker 4 (02:49:42):
Yeah, found a little.
Speaker 3 (02:49:43):
Sliver through the right side of the defense and he
hit it. Hit that hole hard and a ten yard
game for Ross. Nine twenty five left to play. Fourth quarter,
twenty to eight sixteen, Stout with the leads top. The
run for Ross puts him up now to thirty two
(02:50:06):
yards in the game. Stout has three hundred and twenty
three yards of total offense to the two sixty five
of Oshkosh. Two receivers left, two tight ends right and
another ross Kerry. No, Mohen's gonna keep it himself rolling
around the right edge. He's got nothing there. Oh and
he gets hit from behind. Well, he's lucky that Deetson
didn't get good contact with him there because he was
already now in Deetson. I don't think he was going
(02:50:27):
for the spear, but he gets stopped at the thirty
nine for a loss of five second and fifteen coming
up there. That play blown up pretty quickly by Dietson
and others. But Deetson, man, he was close to getting
that late hit penalty. Good for him that he missed.
He missed it, basically just missed the hit. As Mowen
was going.
Speaker 4 (02:50:45):
To the ground.
Speaker 3 (02:50:47):
And stout again, I think you gotta keep your foot
on the gas pedal here, eight thirty left to play
the clock ticking stout twenty Oshkosh sixteen seven seconds left
on the play clock. Two receivers left, one to the right,
hughes as a tailback takes a snap with one second
on the play clock. Four man rush. Mowen throws right.
Frank makes the catch and he stepped out of bounds.
(02:51:09):
Clock will run here once they set the ball, but
he steps out of bounds with the forty two be
a three yard game. Frank didn't know where he was
on the field. Their three yard game makes it third
and twelve at their own forty two yard line. They
need the Oshkosh forty six for a first down. Cronk
should start back up here. I think we're over the
five minute mark. Should have started back up at eight
(02:51:30):
twelve hour. It goes yeah, Jared Letard didn't give the motion.
He should have given that motion ten seconds ago. And
now he gives the wine, the wine the clock motion.
He took under eight minutes left to play, twenty to
sixteen stout with the lead, Mowen now empty backfield, two
receivers left, two to the right. Oshkosh will bring five.
He's got to get rid of it. He throws it
(02:51:52):
deep curt their.
Speaker 31 (02:51:53):
Side the hell on this time twenty fifteen ten to
the fives, fifty eight yard touchdown pass to eight Ron Parter.
Speaker 3 (02:52:05):
He catches at this time and snout as a two
score lead. Twenty six to sixteen, seven forty five left
to play, twenty six unanswered points for the Blue doubles.
(02:52:27):
Oh my goodness, Garrison Jack, but I'm for the extra
point snap spot kick up, kick good twenty seven sixteen
Stack with the lead seven forty five to go back
after this Here on the WIAC Sports Network, happened.
Speaker 18 (02:52:48):

Speaker 1 (02:53:21):
This is UW Stout Football on Newstock wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (02:53:28):
Welcome back in here to UW Stout to Donna Noda
Williams Stadium, seven forty five.
Speaker 4 (02:53:33):
Love to play in the fourth.
Speaker 3 (02:53:34):
Door at Stout twenty seven Oshkosh sixteen twenty seven unanswered
points are the Blue Devils and Adam Moohen now up
over three hundred yards passing seventeen to twenty seven for
three touchdowns, one interception in this game. DeVante Evans with
one hundred and forty one yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Avron Carter with six receptions for ninety five and a
(02:53:56):
touchdown as well. And and Oshkosh has had apps nothing
going in this second half as here comes a run
up from Jackman, not a terribly deep punt or deep
kickoff here the ten yard line is where Brush will
get the return to the twenty hit and taken down
at about the twenty two maybe the twenty three yard
(02:54:17):
line here on the near sign between the numbers and
the hash mark, So the twenty three is where Oshkosh
will take over. Oshkosh at halftime had two hundred and
nineteen yards of offense.
Speaker 4 (02:54:30):
They have had just.
Speaker 3 (02:54:33):
Forty six yards of offense in the second half. Forty
six yards of offense in the second half.
Speaker 1 (02:54:42):
Top for Oshcotch.
Speaker 4 (02:54:44):
Stout's defense has been exactly that over.
Speaker 3 (02:54:49):
Three hundred and sixty nine yards of offense for Stout,
two sixty five for the Titans. But this game is
not over. Seven to thirty nine left to play. Fourth
board Stout twenty seven, Oshkosh's sixteen.
Speaker 4 (02:55:05):
Oshkosh.
Speaker 3 (02:55:06):
Yeah, they're gonna have another delay of game here. They
didn't get the snap off. That's got to be a
delay of game. That's the second time that's happened out
of a kickoff where Oschcosh doesn't get the offense out
there quick enough. Unbelievable. Quentin Keene called for the delay
of game. Peter Jennings is beside himself on the sideline, going,
(02:55:27):
you guys are starting to play clock too early. Officials
are saying you got to get your guys out here
to run plays. It's again, it's the second time. That's
the stuff you you almost rarely see happen in a season.
You've seen it happen two times in one game. Two
tight ends right, one receiver right, one left. Keen will
give it off on the right edge, big hole over
there from verst into the twenty to the twenty five
men chase down across the thirty and taking down here
(02:55:49):
the thirty one yard line. Blue devils out on the edge.
Hear Dwight Kimmeyer from the alignment spot. Had to make
this stop after a eight yard game and another injury
to sign a London lit He's gonna hobble off the field.
They don't stop the clock, No, they do stop the clock.
They got to run it now though. Yeah, there they go,
so they had stopped the clock for the injury. Little
(02:56:10):
will come off the field. One receiver to the left,
one to the right here for Oshkosh tight end lined
up on the right side again, Keen in the shotgun.
Second and two from the from their own thirty one
yard line, hand off up the middle, bursting in a
pardon me, that's Courth rather has the first down as
he crawls up to the thirty five yard line for
a four yard game back will run as they move
(02:56:31):
the chain. Seven minutes left to play here in the
ball game, stout twenty seven Oshkosh sixteen twenty seven at
the moment on answered points for the Blue Devils. They
were down sixteen to nothing early third quarter, that middle
of the third quarter before they scored their first touchdown.
One receiver to the left, one to the right. Keene
in the shotgun as Courth behind him as his running back,
(02:56:56):
and he'll fake the hand off. Pressure coming from the
near side. They're gonna watch this one deep over the
top that is up and it is intercepted incomplete Dawson
Goodman says he has it. He came up with it.
Speaker 4 (02:57:06):
Holy cow, wow, that ball looked like it was caught.
Speaker 3 (02:57:13):
The official right there on it for usher and on
the back judge he said he didn't that ball hit
the turnout.
Speaker 4 (02:57:23):
Dawson Goodman thought he had the interception.
Speaker 3 (02:57:25):
He did not. Second and ten now from the thirty
five Wow, that would have been an absolute killer for
Oshkosh six twenty eight left to go, fourth quarter. It
was an incompletion. Stout's got an extra guy on the
field and a whistle.
Speaker 4 (02:57:41):
What's going on here? Timeout? That timeout Stout.
Speaker 3 (02:57:44):
They didn't want to get caught with too many men
on the field, and so they will pause and they
are down to just one time out left six twenty
fourth quarter Stout twenty seven, Oshkosh six week all right again,
but look around the wi Ac River Falls is in
good shape. Up thirty one to fourteen with seven to
eight left to go fourth quarter against Platteville at home
(02:58:06):
against the Pioneers. Plattville does have the ball, however, but
again down by three scores. In that game. Whitewater on
the way to a win against Stevens Point. They leave
forty five or fourteen with a minute thirteen left to
play there and again Lacrosse is now two and zer
in the conference. They win against the player forty one
to twenty one. Next week, Stout will be on the
road at Whitewater, and again it's a Friday night game.
(02:58:29):
The WIAC schedule a home game on the weekend where
or where Whitewater rather hosts the statewide marching Man competition,
so they have to move the game to Friday night,
so it's a Friday night game.
Speaker 4 (02:58:40):
It'll be on the WIAC Sports Network. Obviously for the video.
Speaker 3 (02:58:43):
We do not know if we'll be there for a
radio because of all the high school games going on.
We're still trying to work those details out, but we
will certainly see if we are able to be there
as well. And man, it could it be a big
time showdown against Whitewater. With Stout being two and zero conference.
They got six minutes twenty eight seconds to make it happened.
They're up twenty seven to sixteen. It is second and
(02:59:03):
ten four Oshkosh at their own thirty five yard line,
time out taken by Stout to avoid too many men
on the field to be two receivers left one to
the right here for Keen. Keen in the shotgun, he
rolls to his left. He hands it off to Court.
He's got a hole initially and then it closes up
across the forty oh extra pushing and shoving here, no flags.
(02:59:24):
He gets to the forty yard line to Court on
a five yard game. It's third and five and you're
at the point now if you're a shcosh where you're
in four down territory, especially on your side, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:59:34):
The forty yard line you need it.
Speaker 3 (02:59:36):
You could get a field goal here you're down eleven,
but you got obviously got a lot.
Speaker 4 (02:59:39):
Closer before your field goal range.
Speaker 3 (02:59:42):
You can't kick it away. Down two scores. At this point,
Stout is given the option to sub if they want.
Here and now they will clear out twelve seconds left
on the Blake block one receiver right, one left, third
and five from their own forty yard line. Keene takes
a snap three down rush for Stout, looks over the middle,
now throws up and it is airmail didn't complete. Brooks
Brewer was the closest guy there because he was trying
(03:00:05):
to find his high end Schwallby and he airmail. I
mean even airmailed Brumer, who was a good five ten
yards behind him. Fourth and five now for Osh Gosh,
and I think again, you're in a position where you
have to go for it here down by two scores.
If you're not my one score, I think you punt.
But with five point forty two left to play, Oshcock
has to go. You've got all three timeouts, but they
(03:00:26):
want to keep him for later in this game. Twenty
seconds left on the flake block, They've got the play in.
It's a two receivers set to the right, three receivers
to the left, empty backfield for Keen, a three man
crunt for Stout. They need the forty five of their
own for a first down at their own forty man
in motion out on the left side. Keen looks left.
He throws it out to the left side. That ball
(03:00:47):
is caught across the forty five fifty and in the
Stout territory on the near side, goes Matthew. We had
no flags on the play. It's a first down to
the forty three yard line. That is a seventeen yard
game and that is a blown coverage on the near side.
Oshcosh had a mismatch, had too many guys over there
not enough defenders and get Matthew out of the back.
They're kind of not really a wheel route, but just
(03:01:08):
a late route and there was no defender close to him.
Seventeen yard game first and ten. Keen picks a handoff,
looks to go deep over the middle. It is up
and it is caught across the twenty five and down
near the twenty four. Big hit put on the receiver
there in Swamby and the Blue Devils have a guy
down th there. It seemed to be okay. They want
(03:01:28):
to run quickly here though dos Oshkosh clock runs five
oh two, five oh one left to play Stout twenty
seven oscotch sixteen. They do not get any subs here
tos Oshkosh, so they can get up to the line
and run a play. But now they're taking some time.
As Keen is in the shotgun with two receivers left,
one to the right. Stout lines it up ball first
and ten at the twenty four. He gets away from
the pressure, then he is hit as he throws. It
(03:01:49):
is interception. Crooks Brewer has it at the fifteen. Then
he's down at the eighteen yard line. Crooks Brewer gets
the of the interception, and Scout's got the ball back.
Speaker 4 (03:02:00):
One left to play four forty one.
Speaker 3 (03:02:01):
Excuse me, let's Brewer a little bit worse for the
wear of getting up after that interception, his third of
the season. Hopefully he's okay, kind of holding his right
arm funny as he comes off. Took a shot there
after that interception. It's first and ten, first out of
(03:02:23):
their own eighteen yard line, and they stopped the ashcotsh
drive dead. It's tracks on the interception. Whoa stout twenty
seven oshcotch sixteen and now you can try to run
some flocks still three timeouts for Oshkosh, but you're up
two scores and this should be Chandler Ross time. Ross
(03:02:45):
is the tailback behind Mowen in the pistol formation. Two
receivers right, two tight ends left. Now Ross lines up
to the right of Mowen. Mowen takes a snap, hands
it off to Ross. Ross running left twenty He's gonna
bounce it out twenty five. He's down the side line
across the thirty five yard line. He goes out of bounds,
which will stop the clock, but he got a huge
gain to the thirty one thirteen yards. It's a first
(03:03:09):
down for Stout, and because we're outside of that two
minute mark, they'll line the clock tick down under four
to thirty left to play. Twenty seven sixteen Stout with
the lead on Oshkosh, ball to the thirty one of
the Blue Devils, and they'll take their time getting the
play in and getting to the line here and they're
still looking to the sideline eighteen seventeen left on the
(03:03:30):
plate clock. Now they've got the play and they will
slowly come to the line twenty seven sixteen Stout two
tight ends left, four seconds on the play clock. Mowen
takes the snap, hands off the ross up the gut,
just following the big blue wall for about three yards
(03:03:51):
to the left side of the thirty four three point
fifty to go in the clock ticking twenty seven to sixteen.
Speaker 4 (03:03:57):
Stout will be second and seven here to the Blue Devils.
Speaker 3 (03:03:59):
After that run to the left side and the tackle
made by Curtis Jskalky, second and seven here for Stout
and they can take this snap with about three ten,
three fifteen left in the ball game, Oshkosh hanging on
to their timeouts for the time being. You might start
to think about taking them here though, two receivers to
(03:04:21):
the right. Ross is the tailback offset right now of
mowing two tight ends left ball in the far hash
mark five seconds four seconds on the play clock, hand
off to ross left side doesn't have much hit immediately
there by CJ. Relias, and that will get about a
yard gain. Now they're gonna actually say no gain time
out taken by Peter Jennings.
Speaker 4 (03:04:42):
Three zero four left to go.
Speaker 3 (03:04:43):
Fourth quarter, it'll be third and seven no gain at
the thirty four yard line on the Ross run. And
with the two score lead, I think you can take
the risk of throwing this one if you get it incomplete. Sure,
they've still got two timeouts left, but you're up two scores.
I think you take the risk to try to get
the first down and really try to end the hopes
of Oshkosh with a first down. Here twenty seven unanswered
(03:05:07):
points for Stout in this game after Oshkosh went up
sixteen to nothing after that safety early in the third quarter.
Remember it was Oshkosh leading fourteen to nothing at halftime,
and then Adam Mohen got sacked in the end zone
trying to run it out of the end zone. The
ball at the one yard line made it sixteen to nothing.
But shortly after that, with eight thirty six left to
(03:05:29):
play in the third, Adam Owen threw a pass over
the middle to Devantae Evans for a sixty yard touchdown.
They missed the two pointer make it sixteen to six.
Adam Owen then would make another pass to seven yards
to Devontae Evans after a longer pass on that drive
to go up to a sixteen to thirteen ball game
with one part me with a four to thirty five
left to go in the third quarter, Stout took the
(03:05:50):
lead on an Adam Mowhen tush push run up the
middle with eleven twenty two left to go in the fourth,
and then they'd add another touchdown a few moments ago
with seven forty five left in the game. Receivers to
the left, two to the right here for south third
and seven mowing in the shotgun. He will take the snap,
four man rush, looking over the middle of pump. There's
some pressure. Throws it out in near side. It's incomplete, incomplete.
(03:06:10):
Trying to get it too. Hughes good pressure up the
middle there on Mowing and as the pressure came from
Jake Shudder incomplete, So the clock does stop. Two to
fifty nine left to play here in the ball game
Stout twenty seven osh Gosh sixteen. The wind is into
the face of pre V, the punter. Again, not a
(03:06:32):
terribly strong win. Probably about five miles an hour might
be gusting up close to ten, but not much more
than that. So the win has not been much of
a factor here today at all. Prevy's gonna stand just
inside his twenty about the eighteen yard line where he stands.
The line of scrimmage is the thirty four. Now he
comes up to the twenty yard line ready to return
as Jackson Brush standing in his own twenty three, gets
(03:06:54):
it away. It's a terrible punt, absolutely terrible punt off
the side of his foot. It's gonna take a stout
bounce across the fifth That's a heck of a bounce.
That's as lucky of a bounce as it gets down
to the thirty four yard line, and that'll bring it
down to two forty seven left to play. It's a
thirty two yard punt and it probably should have only
(03:07:14):
gone about twenty, but it got a blue devil mounce
and it puts Oshkosh back to their thirty four yard line.
So it works out in the end. Okay, it's certainly
not good, but not as terrible as it could have been.
And now Oshkosh will come to the line with two
forty seven to go on two timeouts. Also the two
(03:07:35):
minute timeout you have available to you as well, and
I try to get this down to a one score game.
Twenty seven to sixteen. Stout leads. Here's a snap taking
my key. Key's got pressure, hon He's absolutely crushed back
in the twenty five yard line, playing side out once
again with another sack, all the way back to the
(03:07:58):
twenty six. It's eight loss and it's gonna be second
and eighteen here for Oshkosh. The clockticks two twenty five,
two twenty four left to play. Three receivers right, one
to the left, ball in the middle of the hash
Markine takes it a four man rush for Stout. Screen
set up left side person has it twenty five to
the thirty's got blockers to the thirty five, and he's
(03:08:18):
taken down as he falls forward up across the forty
and down here the forty one yard line. Two wait,
two oh seven. I don't think they're gonna get another
playoff here it's gonna be third and three for Oshkosh
and then will take him down to the two minute
time out. Two minute time out. Stout leading twenty seven
to sixteen over Oscosh. Third and three coming up after
the break. Right after this here on the WYAC Sports.
Speaker 19 (03:08:39):
Network, let's use a football metaphor in your home. You're
the quarterback. Now, who would you want in your front line?
Ass fault, No, the fearsome four bring hail, wind and
snow and blow rate threw an asshall line. For real protection,
you want be Yorks frand metal Roofie because hit after
hit here after Yorks Rand Metal Ropene will keep you
(03:09:03):
protected with a fifty year non pro rated and transferable
warranty two.
Speaker 1 (03:09:07):
To three seven twenty six seventy eight. This is UW
Stout Football on Newstock wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (03:09:20):
Welcome back inn here to UW Stout to Don and
Ona Williams Stadium. At third and three coming up for
Oshkosh as Stout leads twenty seven to sixteen over the Titans.
Two timeouts remained for Oshkosh. They've got the ball at
their own forty one yard line on third and three.
Stout has scored twenty seven unanswered in this game. Down
sixteen to nothing, they're now up twenty seven to sixteen,
(03:09:41):
and the Blue Doubles are two minutes away from getting
another win against Oshkosh and back to back seasons, first
time since two thousand and nine twenty ten. And they
can do it, but they got to get some stocks.
Two receivers are the right, one to the left here
for King. Keane takes a snap, here comes the pressure,
throws it quickly. Catch made at the forty five and
down at the forty seven yard line to Jackson brush
Stout brought the blitz, but he got rid of it quickly.
(03:10:02):
They were ready for it. To the forty seven. They
needed three. They got six on the play, first down Oshkosh. However,
the clock ticks it should yeah, the official didn't wind it.
Now he does one two, one fifty one took him forever.
Two receivers right, one left. Keen throws it that way,
catch made by Little. He's down before he got to
the sticks at the Stout forty five forty four yard line.
Speaker 4 (03:10:23):
It is a gain of nine on the place. Second
and one here for Oshkosh.
Speaker 3 (03:10:27):
Cluck clock ticks one thirty six thirty five, thirty four
left Stout twenty seven Oshkosh sixteen.
Speaker 4 (03:10:33):
Late in the ball game.
Speaker 3 (03:10:34):
Here in the fourth quarter, second and one, Keen two
receivers left, one to the right in the shotgun, fakes
the hand up, throws it right side up, and it
is in complete.
Speaker 4 (03:10:43):
He did not come down in bounds incomplete.
Speaker 3 (03:10:47):
On the right side, Brush caught it, but Stout had
a great play out on the edge by Ellis where
he kind of caught him in the mid mid air
and threw him out of bounds before he could get
a foot down. It's third and one, Gosh one twenty
three left to play. Stout by two scores twenty seven
to sixteen. Remember if you score a touchdown here, you'll
also have to get the two point conversion if you're Oshcosh.
(03:11:11):
Two receivers left, one to the right for Keen ball
on the far hash Park third and one from the
Stout forty four. They have two timeouts remaining. Keen awaits
the snap. He will fake the handoff again. Here comes
a pressure, gets away from it, he steps up, throws
it over the top. It is caught down near the
twenty one yard line. John Matthew gets there. He just
floated that out to a spot. Matthew got there and
(03:11:34):
it sounded the twenty three officially on left first down
a twenty one yard game. The clock, though, ticks with
one ten left to play, one oh nine eight. Up
to the line, they take the snap first and ten.
They throw it right side. It is up and caught,
but short of the first down marker is Schwalbe. He
stays in bounds on the far sideline up to the
sixteen yard line. That is a seven maybe eight yard gain.
(03:11:58):
Second and short now here for Oshcosh fifty one fifty
and a quick the ground there from Keene. As he
spikes it, it'll be third and short. They won't need
to get the ball to the I believe the thirteen
for a first down. The chains are way back from
the line, but I think they need the thirteen. So
it's third and about three. They've got a third and
(03:12:19):
two on the board, but it should be about third
and three after that. Incompletion, fifty one seconds remained, two
timeouts left for Oshkosh and after that spike to stop
the clock. Three receivers left, one right here for Keene
Keen from the far hash mark on third and three
back to pass. Can Stout's rush get home. He steps
up and his head then he dropped and the ball
(03:12:41):
pops out of there. Stout is on it, and the
officials are saying incomplete, incomplete with forty two seconds left. Now,
how's that not grounding? If it's incomplete, how's it not grounding?
Incomplete is a call? It's gonna bring a fourth and three.
He didn't throw it to anybody. Just try to get
(03:13:01):
rid of it, and they're not gonna call grounding either.
Speaker 4 (03:13:04):
I wonder if Flay Birmingham's asking about it.
Speaker 3 (03:13:06):
Regardless, it's fourth and three, forty two seconds remaining, fourth
and three from the.
Speaker 4 (03:13:11):
Stout sixteen yard line.
Speaker 3 (03:13:13):
Stout twenty seven Oshkosh sixteen Blue Devils have not beat
Oshkosh here in menominate since twenty ten. Two receivers to
the right. No receivers left us to tight end up
on the line. Keen in the shotgun. He needs to
get it down to the thirteen for a first down,
ball to sixteen.
Speaker 4 (03:13:30):
It takes the snap.
Speaker 3 (03:13:31):
Stout brings a pressure. They don't get it to him.
Keen now rolls right. He throws her the end zone.
It is up in complaint no flags on the field,
and Stout takes over on a turnover run downs with
thirty six seconds remaining, and all they need to do
is kneel it down and the Blue Devils we'll move
to four and one on the season and they will
stay atop the conference. At two to zero on the year,
(03:13:53):
the Oshkosh coaches are packing up the bags.
Speaker 4 (03:13:56):
This ball game is.
Speaker 3 (03:13:57):
Over Stout with twenty seven unanswered points. We'll see if
Peter Jennings takes the timeouts, he might just hold him
in the pocket. Stout can take one knee. They need
(03:14:17):
to take three if they take timeouts, but I don't
think they will. It is the victory formation for Adam Mohen.
Speaker 4 (03:14:26):
He'll take a knee. No timeouts are gonna be taken.
Speaker 3 (03:14:30):
And this ballgame is over and Stout has defeated Oshkosh
for the second straight year. A walkoff win at Titans
Stadium last year on.
Speaker 4 (03:14:41):
That wild field goal from Luke Cool.
Speaker 3 (03:14:45):
This season a little bit more comfortable, but really, what
is comfortable when it's a Stout Blue Dovel ball game? Wow,
twenty seven to sixteen. The Blue Devils win it over
the Oshcosh Titans. There's a handshakes at midfield. Unbelievable comeback
for Stout. We got a full postgame show for you.
(03:15:05):

You ever wonder why Verizon charges twice as much as
Pure Talk the same basic service. I think I might
have something to do with the fact that Verizon spends
twelve billion dollars a year on advertising and promotion. That's
billion with a B. Yeah, Puer Talk doesn't spend that
kind of money on commercials. That's why they can offer
unlimited talk, text, and plenty of data on a blazing

A flag, red white and blue that means everything to me,
and when I fly it, I know it stands for
something real. My name is Megan Terry and I serve
in the US Army, which is why I choose Colins flags.
Because every Colins, American and military flag is made here
in the USA, stitched with pride and built to last,
and they support veterans like me because they know what
(03:17:16):
these flags really mean. So if you love our service
members and our country like I do, fly a flag
that honors them and supports American jobs. Is it colinsflags
dot com today American made proudly waived.
Speaker 10 (03:17:28):
Hey, Doc, nice office. Quick question? If you had to choose,
would you give yourself a root canal or run payroll?
Speaker 26 (03:17:35):
Run payroll?
Speaker 10 (03:17:35):
No question? Seriously, have you run payroll before paying?
Speaker 26 (03:17:39):
My team with Gusto couldn't be easier. Gusto gives me
unlimited payroll, runs next day direct deposits, and automatically files
my taxes.
Speaker 1 (03:17:46):

Wow, that's nice all right here, Doc, who choose payroll

Speaker 1 (03:17:57):
This is the UW Stout postgame show on news con
wm EQ.
Speaker 4 (03:18:04):
Welcome back here to donnad Oo Williams Stadium.
Speaker 3 (03:18:07):
Hello. Friends on the WIAC Sports network. We had a
camera up here that we were trying to get our
stats and everything loaded in up here as well, and
now they've turned it around on me and coach Birmingham
when he gets up here to the booth that he
should be here shortly as the Blue Devils win twenty
seven to sixteen over Osh Gosh Stout. Now four and
(03:18:27):
one on the season, the Titans will drop to three
and two and one and one in conference.
Speaker 4 (03:18:32):
Plate sets up a big time matchup. Every matchups big.
Speaker 3 (03:18:34):
We know that, but Stout taking on Whitewater next week
here at Whitewater on a Friday night, It's gonna be
kind of a weird week for that Friday night game.
But Stout will certainly take it, and they'd love to
take that four and one mark into this into that game.
I think we've lost our camera here, guys. There it
comes back, somebody moves something, but nonetheless I think we're good.
(03:18:57):
There's probably cables and things moving around and that type
of let's give you the final stats of the game again.
You can find these on wiacsports dot com or on
South Blueedevils dot com as well. Stout wins twenty seven
to sixteen, three hundred and eighty three yards of total
offense for the Blue Devils on fifty three plays. Titans
run sixty eight plays for three hundred and seventy three
yards in this ballgame. As it ended up being eleven
(03:19:20):
penalties on the Titans for eighty five yards Stout four
penalties for forty I That was something we thought about
before this game that Stout would need to again cut
the penalties out. Hope hopes the first and wons on
the Titans, and that's what.
Speaker 4 (03:19:30):
They got here today.
Speaker 3 (03:19:32):
Adam Owen in the end ends with seventeen of eighteen
passing for three hundred and fifteen yards and three touchdowns.
One interception at sixty yard touchdown pass DeVante Evans is
long of the day here today. Chandler Ross runs for
thirty eight yards on the ground on nine attempts. Adam
Mohen went for a total of nineteen yards and one
touchdown on eleven carries as well in this game. DeVante
(03:19:56):
Evans ends with six receptions for one hundred and forty
one yards and two touchdowns. Avron Carter with ninety five
yards receiving on six receptions and one touchdown there as well.
Blainsidel ended the game with thirteen total tackles and two
and a half sacks and five tackles for loss. We're
gonna have to go back through the record books and
see if that's a record in a game for Stout
(03:20:18):
player five tackles for loss pretty high up. There might
not a set of record, but that might could very
end up it very well end up being a season
record by the time this season is over. With what
he did here today for Oshkosh, twenty four of thirty
nine passing Quentin Keene for three hundred and thirteen yards,
two touchdowns, one interception. AJ Corth ends up rushing for
twenty one yards, Doug Berson for eighteen yards. Stout ends
(03:20:43):
up holding the Titans to just forty nine yards rushing.
Speaker 4 (03:20:46):
That's under the average.
Speaker 3 (03:20:47):
They had fifty five yards that they allowed rushing, and
they might be the best rush defense in this conference
so far. I mean, I think the numbers are starting
to bear that out here. For the Blue doubles this season,
Schwaby ends with fifty three years yards receiving on five receptions,
Matthew with fifty six yards receiving, no touchdowns on four receptions,
London Little with four receptions for forty eight yards and
(03:21:09):
a touchdown. Doug Berson had four receptions for thirty seven
yards and a touchdown as well.
Speaker 4 (03:21:15):
And that's kind of how things.
Speaker 3 (03:21:16):
Work out from a stats standpoint, as coach Birmingham's going
to join us and coach, we figured out how to
get you on camera here. So sorry about that, but
you're you're hanging out with us here, coach, So good.
What a win man, twenty seven to sixteen, twenty seven
unanswered points. I looked down at one point in the
second half and it was I think when you went
(03:21:36):
up twenty seven to sixteen, and I think Oshkosh had
something like forty or fifty yards total as a team
in the second half. Now they got some there late
on some of those late drives, but let's just start.
I know we can easily focus on the offense and
what they did, but let's focus on that defense, what
Blaine side l did today and what you did in
the third quarter and a good chunk of the fourth
(03:21:58):
quarter as well, because that was that defense. That's one
of the better defensive performances I've seen a stout team
have that maybe ever.
Speaker 8 (03:22:05):
Yeah, I didn't think we played very well in the
first half at all, and we dressed that at halftime,
and you know, our message was we can play with
these guys. It's not they're not and we just made
a lot of dumb mistakes and guys are not doing
their job. And I'm just I'm just proud of these guys, man.
I mean, they just stepped up and didn't flinching again,
and second week in roll a lot of emotion. So
(03:22:25):
I'm just happy for them and and they deserve it.
Speaker 4 (03:22:28):
A couple of things that you mentioned to me before
the game.
Speaker 3 (03:22:30):
One is that you have a group that's a kind
of a laid back group, right, which maybe is a
little bit different than in years past. Does a laid
back group help when you're down, you know, sixteen to
nothing after that safety? Does it help that they kind
of don't panic and they just say, it's fine, guys,
we can figure out a way back into this.
Speaker 8 (03:22:46):
Yeah, I don't think they're they're not laid back when
they get the field. I mean, they flip the switch
really good. But they're they're just a fun group. Man.
They like to job at each other and prank each other,
and it's just it's just a fun, fun group to coach,
and I just love a blue collar. Our team is
just tough. I mean, we got Brooks Brewer out there
playing hurt, refuses to come off the field. You know,
(03:23:08):
guys getting hurt, you know, tape it up right back
in there. I mean, this league is physical. They're banged up.
I know Oshcosh is banged up. We're banged up, and
I'm sure other schools in the Wyic's banged up. It's
just the nature of football right now. It's a physical
sport and just just real proud of. If you're a backup,
don't don't worry about it. And I like our depth
(03:23:28):
a little bit too.
Speaker 3 (03:23:29):
The other thing you mentioned to me in the pregame
is that you said a little bit about, you know,
want in respect right that last year that win against Oshcosh,
you win against white Water didn't get into the top
twenty five rankings.
Speaker 4 (03:23:40):
Was that a message to the team.
Speaker 3 (03:23:41):
Is that some guys have been thinking about or is
it just one of those where it's like, hey, let's
go out there and do it because it seems like
it's motivated these guys.
Speaker 8 (03:23:47):
We've been disrespected ever since I've been here. I mean
it's it doesn't matter. You know what, we don't got
any million dollar facility. You know, we don't got a
big budget. We recruited our ass off and we have
blue collar guys that fight and h and last year
we knocked off two ranked teams and we still didn't
get ranked. So I don't know what the hell you
gotta do, So message a D three football dot com.
I don't give a shit if your rank because or not. Uh,
(03:24:09):
we're coming for the next one so.
Speaker 3 (03:24:11):
Four and one, two and zer one conference. You just
beat the eleventh rank team in the country. I think
that was how I ended the game. Right when you
guys won it, I said, rank this team, put them
in your ballot. I don't know how you wouldn't after this,
but yeah, you're right about that. And now you get
this kind of weird week, with a weird prep week,
having a Friday night game. Do you talk about that?
Do you what do you do differently as you as
you get ready for Whitewater because you only have you
(03:24:32):
got one fewer day to get ready for a Friday
night game.
Speaker 9 (03:24:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (03:24:35):
Really, I mean it's not it's not as big as deal.
Speaker 9 (03:24:38):
We're not gonna make it a big deal.
Speaker 8 (03:24:39):
It's uh, we're still going to get our Friday practice
in just it's just a few hours before we usually
play the next day. Yeah, So no, I'm just it'll
be a great environment down there and I'm excited. I mean,
this league is just crazy. Just all you can worry
about is the next one. We're gonna celebrate this one
and then tomorrow we'll get on Whitewater and I'm sure
they're good as ever and they always are, so it'll
(03:25:03):
be just another battle.
Speaker 4 (03:25:04):
It's fun. I'll tell you what. Twenty seven unanswered points.
Speaker 3 (03:25:07):
It was a moment there when the safety happened where
you went, you know, what's gonna happen here? And boy,
this team turned it on Devant they haven't turned it
on and boy what a fun game, I'm sure.
Speaker 14 (03:25:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (03:25:15):
Explosive plays, man, So it's all about I mean the
turnovers and explosive plays, feel position. It's just we go
through and talk to our team all the time about it,
and that's what's a win game. So you know, we
got we had players step up and they need to
step up and it's just so proud of these guys.
It's just it's such a fun group to coach Winter
and lose.
Speaker 3 (03:25:33):
Pretty much fun, pretty amazing, And all right, I guess
I'll be looking a hitchhike down to white Water.
Speaker 4 (03:25:38):
You guys pick me up on the way as that.
Speaker 8 (03:25:39):
I'll pick you up, hope. You you want to jump
on the ball. When anybody else wants jump on the bus,
let's throw.
Speaker 9 (03:25:43):
Them on it.
Speaker 3 (03:25:43):
All right, I'll figure out a way to get down
there on Friday. I think we got we got to
do that game after today. So for sure, that's a
lot of fun. And coach, appreciate you taking the time.
And all right, we'll see you see down in Whitewater
on Friday.
Speaker 8 (03:25:54):
All right, let's go celeb repeat all.
Speaker 3 (03:25:56):
Right, the coach Birmingham with the big win four and one,
now a stout on the season against against their opponents,
and boy, big win against Oshkosh here today as well.
Speaker 4 (03:26:06):
All Right, we have special thanks Coach Birmingham.
Speaker 3 (03:26:08):
Special thanks to Joe Dank as well for joining us
during the halftime show. Real quickly, it's take you around
the wiac out of town scoreboard again. Lacrosse with a
win forty one to twenty one over Oh Claire River
Falls hangs on for a thirty one to twenty one
win over Plattfell and Whitewater with a forty five fourteen
win over Stevens Point.
Speaker 4 (03:26:26):
I'm trying to do the math real quickly.
Speaker 3 (03:26:27):
On the standings of my head, I think that Stout
and Lacrosse are the only two teams undefeated in conference play.
Don't quote me on that. Go to YAX sports dot
com and check out all that. As we get ready
for next week, well we will, I think, try to
figure out a way to cover the game. However, we
can do it on Friday if we do here on
Newstalk WMQ of the pregame, we'll be at six forty
(03:26:48):
here on eight eighty one oh six point three FM
and the iHeartRadio app as well. Looking forward to that
special thanks to Josh his great crew who made it
happen here today for everybody here on Pekanuts and your
final score from Don Known to Williams Stadium. It's the
eleventh the Stout Blue Devils twenty seven, the eleventh ranked
Oshkosh Titans sixteen. Chris Conner, I'm rounding third and coming
(03:27:09):
for home.
