Speaker 4 (00:40):
We welcome you.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
To the first WYAC game of the twenty twenty five
Division I three football season and the War ninety four
featuring the three and O U W O. Blair Bluegalls
in your two and one you w Stout Blue Devils.
Hello fans, pickaouts in here live from historic Carson Park
as we get set for the one and second edition
one of the oldest rivalries in all of Division three football.
(01:03):
The Blue Devils come into this game on a nine
game winning streak against the Blue Golds. As EA Plaier
has not won this rivalry matchup since twenty fourteen. The
Blue Devils are coming off a fifty six to thirteen
drubbing of Northwestern in their final non conference game of
the season two weeks ago, and coming off the bye
week as well, they're looking to get their offense going
(01:23):
like they did in that game. The Blue Devils are
led by Adam Bohen at quarterback, and they once again
have some of the best most dynamic receivers in the
conference with Devonte Evans and Apron Carter as well. Stouts
defense is led by all Americans safety of No Nomine
native Brooks Brewer, and they will need to be good
against this kind of brand new style of offense from
the Blue Goals and the Bugles are off to the
(01:45):
three and oh start. It's their first three and oh
start since two thousand and seven. That season they was
the last time that they made the D three NCAA Tournament.
The Blue Golds record may be a bit deceiving, however,
is their non conference opponents did not provide much resistance
for this new and young offense led by new sophomore
quarterback Aiden Helder. The Bluegolds defense may be the more
(02:05):
impressive part of their three to zero start. Is the
first team a defense rather has not allowed any points
in their first three games, and they sport some great
individual defensive players as well, including the twenty twenty four
WIAC Newcomer of the Year in Brady Poles on the
defensive line. Should be a good one. The Yax season
gets underway with one of the best rivalries in the conference.
(02:25):
It's conference, It's the War on ninety four and it's
coming up. At first, we'll pause, We'll come back with
head coach the uw STOT Blue Doubles Clay Birmingham, right
here on your home for Blue Devils football.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
The uw STOUT Blue Devils pregame Show continues next on

Speaker 7 (03:16):
What's it take to be a mentor with big Brothers
Big Sisters? It takes thirty minutes and a cup of coffee.
A video game fests two out of three. It takes
sharing thumbs up emojis, clapping emojis, and loaded not shows
at halftime. That's how you make an impact on a
young kid's life. So go on share a few hours
a month, because mentorship may sound huge, but the truth
(03:38):
is it takes little to be big. To learn more,
volunteer or donate, go to bbig now dot org.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
We're back on Bob and Steve's Bpmaco Shops pregame show.
Now here's UW stout head coach Clay Birmingham and coach
Joints four on ninety four, one hundred and second edition
of this great a Recoach appreciating the time with us,
and we'll talk about that war on ninety four here
in a second. But we haven't had a chance to
talk to you after that game against Northwestern and obviously
(04:09):
week off as well, so talk a little bit about
that game and kind of what the team's been doing
here in the last you know, two weeks to kind of,
you know, get their bodies ready for what's gonna I'm
sure be a gauntlet here in the w i a C.
Speaker 8 (04:23):
Yeah, it was nice to come on to Northwestern and
get a get an early lead so we can get
a lot of the young players and evaluate them. So
that's always nice. So you'd like to have one of
those games where you can kind of see who can play. Uh,
if you do get banged up a little bit later
later in the conference, but no, it's and then we
had a bye week, so uh, that's kind of a
(04:46):
interesting week because it's you try to do your pictures.
Speaker 9 (04:48):
Into buy a week and you have a JV game
and it's a bye week. But it's a busy week,
but we get in a.
Speaker 8 (04:53):
Few practices and you know it's time to kind of
focus back on yourself a little bit more and kind
of on some things and kind of reh it the
things you didn't use in the first three games.
Speaker 9 (05:03):
Maybe it's in your package.
Speaker 8 (05:05):
Uh Yeah, And then you got a nice long weekend
which we gave the guys off and uh and that's
good just for them to get away from us too,
and and to heal up their bodies and so you know,
we played war Burg in Dubuque and they it was
a it was a tough Both were tough games, so
your body's got to beat up a little bit.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah, I mean as you kind of look at it,
you know, before we talk about this game against So Claire,
I mean, you know, with where your team's at through
three games. I know, you know the Warper game, obviously
it's a it's a tough team, a tough defense and
that kind of thing. But where do you, like, at
least where your offense is your defense? Is that kind
of thing going into the w I C Is about
what you expected? Or is it one of those where
(05:46):
there's been some guys that have stepped up you weren't expecting.
Kind of what where does that look for you? Is
you get ready for these seven games?
Speaker 9 (05:53):
Good question? You know we uh played the first three.
Speaker 8 (05:58):
You played Dubulk's kind of a five team, and then
you played a really good top ten team and then
you have a subpar team, so you kind of got
the whole gamut. You know, where our team's kind of
you know, it's we were up and down. You know,
we gotta find some some some consistency. I think on
both sides of the ball. And that's what you know,
(06:18):
multiple games will do. You just need to keep getting
better every single game. So that's what we're hoping for
the next game. And it's gonna be a tough conference.
We know that every team is better than they were
last year. So yeah, it's it's gonna be an interesting one,
all right.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
See, we turn our attention to this game against UW
O Claire and I was watching back a little bit
of of last year's game, and you know, obviously that
you guys game win industry just playing things we could
talk about as it comes with this rivalry. But I
look back on last year's game and it was one
of those where you know, you were pretty dominant throughout right,
a couple of late, late touchdowns for O Claire and
and you kind of handled your business. What what makes
(06:57):
this a different game? Going obviously on the road is
a big difference. But what's what's the big difference between
last year and this year? As you guys prepped for
this ball game.
Speaker 8 (07:09):
I think you know, going on the road, it is, uh,
you know, with these rival games, you just throw.
Speaker 9 (07:14):
The records though it doesn't matter. It's gonna be a dogfight.
Speaker 8 (07:17):
We know that, yeah, and you just kind of again
you try to just focus on what you do and
just instead of getting caught up in all the hoopla
out there with you know, all the stuff that they
have going on, homecoming and a Hall of Fame and
whatever else they got going on over there. It's gonna
be a it's gonna be a packed house. It's gonna
(07:39):
be which is awesome. I mean, I think that feeds
into both teams. It's gonna be hot, so it's gonna
it's gonna be a uh a variable too that we
both have, you know, challenges there dealing with the heat
and cramping and we're not used to this type of
heat this time of year. So there's a lot of
little distractions, if you will, coming into this game. But
(08:00):
we just got to just cancel all that stuff, oht
and just focus on executing, blocking, attacking, so and make
a simple game like it is.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
I feel like we I ask you something similar to
this each year, but I'll ask you maybe again in
a different way of do you have to do much
to talk to the guys about kind of what this
rivalry game means? Do you bring in you know, maybe
an ex player or something, or you know, someone who
had a big piece or a big impact on this
(08:29):
rivalryor does everybody just kind of get it they kind
of understand that, you know, it's a it's a close
geographic rival everybody kind of you know, you have the
trophy and everything else. Do they just kind of understand it.
You don't have to do a whole lot to motivate
these guys in this kind of a game exactly. You know,
we don't even talk about it that much, to be
honest with you. It's just we approach it as just
the next game. We almost got to downplay with our
(08:51):
guys because we don't want to get them over hyped
and over juiced. And you know, everything is but the
everybody knows. I mean it's not a secret, and yeah,
it's literally it's gonna come down and who can go
with their next cute? So I mean that's but that's
gonna be every week and next week is Oshkosh and Whitewater.
Speaker 8 (09:07):
And it's it's just another game for us. So some
people make it bigger than what it is. I guess
when you're in it and you're in a deep you
don't even look at you kind of a few turn that
side off and okay, let's just go play football and
let's just see who's the better team on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Assume it's a little bit different too, because you know,
you're preparing for some different personnel. Right There's been some
some turnover with the Blue Goals with some guys who've graduated.
You got a new quarterback to prepare for, Nate Helder
and a few other new receivers and that kind of thing.
Speaker 10 (09:41):
Is it one.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Of those where, at least in the last couple of years,
is Rob Erickson's taking that program over?
Speaker 10 (09:46):
Have you seen those changes?
Speaker 3 (09:47):
And it's a little bit different prepping this year than
it was in years past, knowing that they've got some
different tools and some different things they can do.
Speaker 9 (09:55):
Not really, I mean it's it's the same every year.
Speaker 8 (09:58):
I mean every year people lose players and game players
and loose coaches and game coaches. It's we don't put
much stock into that. I thought, you know, they I
thought they lost some really good players with the quarterback
and the and the guard side receiver.
Speaker 9 (10:12):
Those are two of the better ones in our league.
I thought so.
Speaker 8 (10:16):
And then they have younger guys coming up, but they're
good but you know, we'll see how see how they perform,
you know, and against uh he did rival and against
the w i C. Really, so it's for us in
this league. It's done playing other schools. It's it's okay now,
this is for real. Nobody really cares what you did
up till now, and let's go see who can win
(10:37):
this thing.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
What's going to be your big key to the game, obviously,
beyond the road rivalry game. What's gonna be the things
you want to make sure you guys do to get
a win here against the Loo goals.
Speaker 9 (10:46):
Well, we got to take care of the football.
Speaker 8 (10:48):
It's gonna be a game of field possession, field position,
and and uh yeah, and that's it. I mean, we're
gonna we're gonna play hard, We're gonna give good effort.
You know, there's gonna be explosive plays and hopefully we
make more than they do. And it's literally you know
who can make those plays in this conference. That's every
game though, So I'm excited, I mean kind of Hay's
(11:10):
in the barn right now and it's time to see
who can do what on the fielding Saturday.
Speaker 10 (11:16):
Hey, we look forward to appreciate you taking time with
this coach.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
All right, thank you, our thanks to head coach Clayton
Birmingham for joining us in the Bob and Steves beat,
PMAO shops, pregame show, starting lineups and more are coming
up right after this on your home for Blue Devils Football.
Speaker 11 (11:29):
You ever wonder why Verizon charges twice as much as
Pure Talk for the same basic service. I think I
might have something to do with the fact that Verizon
spends twelve billion dollars a year on advertising and promotion.
That's billion with a B. Yeah, Peer Talk doesn't spend
that kind of money on commercials. That's why they can
offer unlimited talk, text, and plenty of data on a

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Hey, we welcome you back in here to Carson Park.
Getting set for football between Oa Claire and Stout should
be a good one. As we've talked about, it is
an absolutely gorgeous day here in O Claire, probably a
little warmer than the players would like, eighty three degrees
at game time. There is win today. We'll talk about
that and how that will affect things as well throughout
(13:01):
this contest. This is a packed house. It is standing
room only. They are already standing two or three deep
on the sidelines where there are not bleachers. Of course,
they lost a little capacity here for football at Carson Park.
You can hear that win picking up there too, capacity
when they were unable to move the bleachers from the
third base side of the baseball field over to the
what's basically left field, the visiting side bleachers, because they
(13:25):
are not structurally sound enough to move anymore. So they
got some temporary bleachers. They move on the far sideline.
They put the band there now, and that's right kind
of blaring past the UWS south the visiting sideline as well,
so you lose some capacity with that, but they still
expect there to be seven to eight thousand people here
at Carson Park. And let me just tell you, folks
(13:45):
at that parking lot and the parking lots that's around
Carson Park do not hold that many people. So it's
a bit of a zoo trying to get down here
to Carson Park. So we're happy to have you along
with us. On the radio side. A lot of times
I tell people like, hey, you know, come on out
to games, coming out and check it out. You know,
there's plenty of seats available. There are not, so stay
home and listen to us for the rest of the
(14:06):
way as well. All right, it is the Blue Devils
versus the Blue Goals, and again it's the War on
ninety four. This is probably the I'm gonna say, the
least consequence of because they're all consequential ones early on
in the season, but the bigger matchups or maybe the
other games in the WYA seed today Whitewater, the five
ranked team in the country is or partly the ninth
ranked team in the country is playing host of the
(14:28):
fifth ranked team in the country in UW lacrosse, River
Falls is at oshcoch Those are the two big ones,
both starting at one o'clock. We'll keep you up to
date on those throughout our contest. Platteville is hosting Stevens
Point today as well. One quick note before he gets
to the starting lineups. The Yak in the non conference
had maybe one of the best D three non conference
seasons for a conference in the history of Division three football.
(14:48):
They went twenty one to two as a conference. The
only losses for the Yak were Stouts lost to number
ten Wartburg and Oshkosh has lost to number one North Central.
Outside of that, the Wayak was undefeated and from a
conference you know strength the schedule standpoint this is it
(15:09):
always is the best conference in Division three. It is
by far the best conference this year with that non
conference training as well, so it is gonna get nothing
but harder as the season goes on for both of
these teams. Here in twenty twenty five, all right, starting lineups,
We start with your UW Stout Blue Devils or one
change to the lineup, and it's a good change for
Stout as well. At We're gonna start on the offensive line.
(15:30):
The left tackle, Ben Biskell, who he didn't think was
gonna play today, was hurt a couple of weeks ago
against Wartburg. He is a go. He was a game
time decision. He is a go, so he'll start at
left tackle. Sam Briant is a left guard for the
Blue Devils. TJ. Scott the center. Will Nordstrom is the
only non you know regular starter on the line at
right guard. Delton Mondo, our halftime guest, is the right tackle.
(15:50):
Adam Mohan out of Lake Mills is your quarterback. He
does have five interceptions on the season, but a lot
of that was in that Wartburg game against probably one
of the best defenses in the in the name, so
hard to kind of judge that. He does have four
touchdowns six one hundred and thirty three yards through the
air in his first two games. Chase Hughes is the
starting tailback. To expect to see lots of Chandler Ross
as well. Kid Tappan, Avron Carter, and Devonte Evans are
(16:12):
your three receivers. Mason Frank is the starting tight end
for the Blue Devils. Defensively, first out, Matt Blank, Abe
Helsel the nose guard, and Daniel Walker are the three
men up on the defensive line in that three four setup.
Drew Shore, Drew Schneider, Blaine Sidel, and Gray Gabe Kramer
are the linebackers. Braxon Moneykaisen is able to go today.
He'll be the first kind of rotating linebacker in but
(16:33):
is not officially in the starting lineup. The secondary is
as follows, and it is the normal secondary, but they
are a bit banged up. I assume we're going to
see some subs come in throughout to kind of shore
up everybody, especially on this hot day. It's Gavin Goodman
and Jesse Ellis at the corners, and Dawson Goodman and
Brooks Brewer the All American air at the safety spots.
All right, the Blue Golds look like this lining up,
(16:54):
and again a lot of new faces here again no
Isaac Garside, Henry Rubidou as well Harry Ruby, who excuse me,
at quarterbacks. So some new names that we will get
used to here today. Aiden Helder is the quarterback. He
is thirty nine to fifty three to start the season.
That's seventy three percent, five and seventeen yards, five touchdowns
and no interceptions for him. Interestingly enough, just real quick,
(17:14):
the backup quarterback is a man who is very used
to this field. Kennan Krogman the backup quarterback from OA Claire.
Regis the step son of Regis head coach Brian Brener,
who got a big win last night in a walk
off Hail Mary against Mondovi. Nikai Mercado is the starting tailback.
We'll see plenty of Paxton Rothmeyer as well. Nick Keen
yetch Schule, who factored in a lot last season against
(17:37):
the Blue Devils, will be one of the receivers along
with Matt Kuchai for the Blue Goals. A tight end
is Aiden Shaw, but he has not made a catch
yet this season for UW O Claire. Defensively, we mentioned
Brady Poles already the sophomore defensive end. He's on that
line with Henry Keppen, Aiden Drost and Carson Clark. The
three linebackers are Yanni kana Lakis, Brady Hoffner excuse me,
(18:00):
and Kegan Christy. The two corners are Larry Bow and
Nate Macjuski, two seniors. In those spots, but the safeties
are sophomores Ashan Seger and Ryan Spickerman for the Blue Golds.
Clay Birmingham coaches the Blue Devils in his sixteenth season
sixty two and eighty one. Again they've won the last
nine straight against UW O. Clair and he has a
(18:20):
great record against the Blue Golds in his time here
as the coach of Stout, as you would imagine that
he would have. Stout is forty four and fifty one
and six all time against OA Claire as well. Blue
Devils are about to take the field. They're bringing out
the War on ninety four trophy as well. This is
a little bit of a new thing. Typically they just
set it down in the end zone when they show
up to the park, but they are going to bring
(18:41):
it out with them and show it off to the
fans here as well, which is going to draw the
ire of the Blue Golds fans. I am sure here
comes a Blue Golds fight song as Stout will take
the field as well. Blue Golds are coming out and
there's the American flag, the Devil pitchfork and the War
on ninety four trophy and a sledge as well for
good measure. Blue Golds have come out with that UW.
(19:03):
Claire flag. Here onto the field. The head coach of
the Blue Golds, Rob Erickson, in his third season seven
and sixteen at the helm of the Blue Golds, trying
to get this team back to prominence. And again three
of those seven wins have come here in the twenty
twenty five season to start the season, here's Dave Hanson,
the PA announcer. Will turn it over to him for
the playing of the national anthem. Here in just a moment,
the Blue Devils will be in the white uniform tops,
(19:25):
blue numbers, white helmets, wearing the gray pants. Today the
Blue Golds will be in the home blue uniforms with
gold numbers at trim, white pants with gold and blue
trim as well, blue helmets with the E of the
OA clear logo on the side of those helmets as well.
Teams are about to line up. The band plays a
great national anthem. We'll listen in to them. Unfortunately they
(19:45):
were unable to get Vanilla isis in the national anthem.
I mentioned pill Allies because there's an I Love the
Nineties concert coming up later tonight at the Son and
Tag that features Vanilla Ice. He's the lead performer there
along with Tone Lokan, all your favorite rap artists of
the nineteen nineties. So it's gonna be an interesting day here, Claire.
That is for sure again a good one here at
an absolute packed house. The parking lot was going crazy
(20:08):
earlier today. The I mean, you can barely barely see
the separation out there between the field and the fans
as well.
Speaker 14 (20:15):
Here's Dave Hanson with band anthem by the Bugle Marching
Band under the direction of Karen Metzker.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Now the national anthem here from Carson Park. Unfortunately the
wind got a little bit in the way of that one.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
It is uh.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Stout versus O Claire, and it is here on Newstock
w M e q A M A eighty menominee translator
W two nine two e G O Claire one O
six point three f M and iHeartRadio station. We will
listen in to the coin toss here as best we can. Again,
the wind is whipping around about fifteen miles an hour.
It will be helping the teams moving from right to
left as we watch them here from the press box.
(22:09):
It will be hurting the teams moving left to right.
It's kind of a west to east wind blowing out
of the kind of southwest area. The end zone to
our right is the west, the end zone to our
left is the east. So we're looking south here from
the press box and we will hear the coin toss
here in a moment. The referee today is Chris Gibbs.
Captains for both teams will make their way out here
(22:30):
today and for the Blue Devils, Adam Owen will be
one of those men. And who else is coming out
with them, Sam Briott along with Blaine side L and TJ. Scott.
Those will be your captains for the Blue Devils here
today and Chris Gribbs Gibbs is your head official today.
(22:52):
We will listen in to the coin toss and here
who wins the toss and what way they decide to
go the direction and it's going to be important.
Speaker 15 (23:00):
To won a coin for the toss.
Speaker 16 (23:02):
The side his heads the side of tales Tales heads stout.
Speaker 15 (23:06):
You are visiting team. What is your call? Tails? Is
the call? He is landed on tails?
Speaker 17 (23:14):
You've won the toss to Sun has won the toss
the part of the second half, Okay.
Speaker 15 (23:20):
On the ball, which would you like to kick? Are
you guys put your.
Speaker 16 (23:22):
Backs well, Claire, we'll receive on the east end of
the field.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Good luck, all right, So you heard it there. Stout
won the toss. They elected to defer to the second half.
That means it's Stout also got a chance though Claire
picking the receiving, they get a chance to pick away.
They want to go and they want to win at
their backs in this first half, first quarter rather as well.
So that'll be the way things set up. We are
ready for football. Gonna be a good one here today.
The war on ninety four you're gonna be and played
(23:53):
for the one hundred and second time. Stout with the
longest winning streak by either team in the history of
this rivalry. With this nine game winning streak, of course,
no game in twenty twenty due to the COVID canceled season.
You have to go back to twenty fourteen, the last
time that Uwclair won it, and since then it has
been all Stout. Since in, about half the games have
(24:13):
been one score, games have been close. About half of
them in that nine game winning streak have been blowouts.
Of course, there's a big seventy three twenty nine win
for Stout, a couple of years ago in Menominee. Last
year was a pretty dominant win. They were up forty
two to ten before Oklaire put on two touchdowns late
against the second third stringers as well, so it was
not a close game last year as well. All right,
(24:35):
we are ready for football here between Stout No claire
so or the fans. You can hear them. This is
a packed house. There's gonna be a good seven eight
thousand people here at Carson Park today and this should
be a lot of fun, that is for sure. Carson
jack our part mc Garrison Jackman rather will kick things
away for the Blue Devils act return for uw O
Claire yacht Chuul. And it's not Met Kuchai who we
(24:57):
were told. It looks like that will be a packs
Rothmeyer who will be back to return as well. Ball
up at the thirty five yard line. The one hundred
and second edition of the War on ninety four is
about to get underway. And here we go downfield tordyax Chwol.
It's through the end zone and we'll come out to
the twenty five yard line and off we go here
(25:19):
from Carson Park leading the Blue Golds onto the field
Aiden Helder again thirty nine and fifty three to start
his season, seventy three point six percent completion percentage, five
hundred and seventeen yards through the air. He's got five touchdowns.
Is long pass of the season sixty nine yards. He
has rushed for seventy five yards on twenty attempts. Not
(25:41):
a big rusher of the ball, not nearly as much
as Adam Owen. But we'll see how it all works
out here today. Blue Golds take the field, starting at
the twenty five yard line. Blue Devils on defense. It
is hot eighty five degrees here at game time. With
that kick sailing through the end zone. Pistol formation for
Aiden Helder. He's got two receivers to his right. They
start on the far hash mark. It is Paxon Rothmeyer
(26:03):
off to his right. He'll roll to the right, looks
to go deep down field now, trying to get it
on a deep slant right over the top end. It
is deflected and caught across the fifty yard line. Brewer
had it deflected and then it fell into the hands
of Matt Kuchai for a first down all the way
to the forty seven yard line. That is a twenty
eight yard gain and a first down here for the
(26:23):
Blue goals, and Brewer was inches away from an interception. Instead,
the deflection falls right into the hands of Matt Kuchai.
That's a heck of a way for the Boue goals
to start. One receiver left, two to the right, two
running backs flanking Helder, and he will hand it off.
Now it's a pass play downfield. The pass down the
right side. It is up an incomplete, no flags on
(26:44):
the play. They handed it off to one of the
tailbacks back there. That was Kennon Krogman, the backup quarterback,
who rolled out to his right and through and he
threw it Tordyach's school. But it was kind of a
dead duck into the wind. So a little bit of
trickery here from Rob Erickson to start the game incomplete,
second and ten from the forty seven yard line. Boy,
you can tell throwing into the wind is going to
be tough today because that ball got getting hung out.
(27:05):
That's why Brewer had a chance at that interception. He's
got two already on the season. Two receivers right, one left.
Send Krogman in motion. They'll run it by Helder to
the left side. He has hit near the line. Doesn't
get much. The ball came out, the ball came out.
Stouts got it. Stout's got it at the line of scrimmage.
It's Stout past out football a quarterback keeper for Helder.
He coughs it up and Stout's got it right at
(27:27):
the forty seven yard line. See who came up with
the recovery over there. It didn't quite catch who it did.
Who did come up with the ball, But Stout's got
the recovery at the forty eight and Stout has the ball.
No announcement on who that was. We'll wait for this
live stats to update here, but wow, a fumble and
(27:50):
the Blue Devils will bring the offense out there. The
student section is that the end of our left the
end zone. The stout is going to so we'll start
making some noise. Three receivers bunch left too, to the right,
empty backfield for Adam Moment, the senior quarterback from Lake Mills.
He sends his tight end Mason Frank in motion. He
will look left the entire way. Nothing there. He's gonna
scramble right. He's got a big hole fifty forty five
far side. He goes out of bounds and a late
(28:11):
flag coming in from the side. This looks like a
sideline warning here for the Blue Golds. I would imagine
it's an eleven yard run to the forty one yard
line here for the time being, let's listen in to
Chris Gibbs sideline warning.
Speaker 15 (28:24):
Oh Claire, it's just a warning.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
So that's the first sideline warning. Somebody got up in
the business here of the headline judge in Matt Goose
here on the near side, and he threw the flag
for a sideline forty one yard line up the Blue
Golds first down Stout after an eleven yard game. We
are just a minute in to today's contest. No score
between Stout and Oa Claire. They bunched the formation. Two
receivers left, two to the right, right up on the line.
(28:47):
Now they're gonna spread everybody out, send some motion. DeVante
Evans out wide, left, Dan out to the right, Kate tappened,
Carter in the slot to the left, mowing. We'll fake
the hand up. No, it's a flea flicker from Hughes
back to him. They pick up the blitz. Now he
throws right. It is up and in complete. Trying to
get it to Keon Maggot on the far side, and
it's incomplete. He kind of airmailed that one. They went
with that flea flicker two weeks ago against Northwestern and
(29:10):
it resulted in a touchdown to Devonte Evans. But this
time the Blue Goals got some penetration and Mowen decided
against the deep pass, tried to go for the checkdown
to Maggot and he overthrows it to the far sideline incomplete.
Second and ten here from the Eau Claire forty one
yard line, thirteen forty two left to go, first quarter,
Second and ten for the Blue Devils. I'll send their
two tight ends some motion to the right side, two
(29:31):
receivers out to the left on the far hash mark
pistol formation. It is Chandler Ross the tailback. He will
get the handoff up the gut, big hole. He spins
and goes down near the thirty five yard line. I'll
mark him right at the thirty five. That's a game
of six on the play, and it will be third
and about four here for the Blue Devils, needing the
thirty one for a first down. Ross a very good
running back. Chase Hughes now is going to check in
(29:53):
for him, but I don't know. Ross kind of I
think might get the line share of the carries today,
especially if the Blue Devils get an early league third
four from the thirty five yard line. He neede the
thirty one for a first down. Two receivers left. Maggot
is off to the right side, Carter and Evans to
the left. Hughes is in the pistol formation with Mowen
and the shotgun. Mowen sends Evans in motion up closer
(30:14):
to the line. Now he stops back to pass Mowen
looking left. Nothing there, gotta step up, gets away from
the pressure. You're gonna try to run for the first down.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
He's got it.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Thirty yard line and down here the twenty five had
to make a man miss right at the line to
gain and he did tackle on the play by Brady
Hofner and Larry bow there as well, and it'll be
the twenty six yard line. A nine yard scamper and
stout with the hurry up. One receiver right, two to
the left, first and ten for the Blue Devils at
the twenty six yard line. Takes a snap, It has
a hand off to hughes right up the gut. Not
(30:42):
a lot, but he'll keep churning the legs. He's still
on his feet across the twenty five and he got
forward progress to the twenty two. That's a four yard
gain on a play that looked like it was going
nowhere in the blue. Devils make it second and six
from the twenty two yard line. Bow was there again
from the cornerback spot. And well, here's some audio issues.
It sounds like on the PA here as well. Hopefully
(31:05):
they'll get those figured out, because that's not fun at all.
Two receiver that's not on our end, folks, that's up
on the PA system. Here. Two receivers out to the left,
Evans and Carter Mowen in the shotgun, and he's got
a man in the backfield. They're sending Jojo James off
to the right now as a receiver. Mowen takes a snap,
looks right. He's gonna run it him out looking for
a hole. He's got it twenty and he falls forward.
(31:26):
He's close to the first down near the sixteen yard line.
They're gonna give it to him to the fifteen. A
seven yards scamper for Adam Mowen and the Blue Devils.
They're in the red zone for the first time today.
The Blue Golds have not allowed any scorers in the
red zone this season as a defense, much less to touchdown.
The Blue Devils have been to the red zone thirteen times.
They've scored ten times, nine of those touchdowns in their
(31:48):
first three games. First and ten from the fifteen yard line.
Stout in the shotgun again. Three receivers out to the left.
James Is out wide, left Evans close to the line.
They're gonna send two tight ends to the right side
of the formation. Empty backfield once again for Adam Mohen.
First and ten from the bluegal fifteen Evans, we'll go
into the backfield as a running back. Here. He rolls
to his right, looking to pass. Instead, he's gonna run
it and he'll keep in bounds at the ten, spins
(32:10):
and gets hit, stays in bounds and falls up near
the eight yard line on that far side. Really nice
run there of seven yards for DeVante Evans. He was
looking for the halfback pass basically, but it wasn't open.
Each team trying to run some trickery on that far
side or on their first couple drives and so far
it's worked out well here for Stout. Two receivers go
(32:32):
to the left here for the Blue Devils, and it's
going to be second and three from the eight yard
line of Oah Claire the win that their back's here
for Stout. Ten thirty six left to go, first quarter,
no score. Two tight ends right, three receivers left empty
backfield for mowing Frank goes in motion across the formation
of the left side. Mowen takes the snap. He looks left,
wants to run up the middle, looking for a hole,
hits off a defender at the five. He's got the
(32:54):
first down. As he falls forward up near the four
yard line. It's a four yard scamper. And this offensive
line is getting big push, and I think Stout right
now is just content to run behind the push they're
giving from the offensive line from Ben Bistol and company.
Ben Bistol, a late addition to the lineup, was injured
a couple weeks ago against Wartburg. Was not sure if
he could play today, but he is in it. Left tackle.
(33:16):
We thought Jackson Building would get the call. He did not.
And now Mowen gonna go under center, and it's the
big power pack Chandler Ross behind him with one receiver left,
one right, First and goal from the four yard line
here for Stout. Man in motion is Frank. He moves
to the right side of the formation. They counter up
to Ross. Ross hit the line, powers toward the goal line.
He is down at the one half yard line, about
(33:39):
at the one foot line. Officials coming into market right
away and they say that his knee was down with
the ball just outside the goal line. It'll be second
and goal from the one foot line here for the
Blue Devils. And this feels like tush push time. Stout
doesn't do it tush push, but if they did, this
would be the time for it. Adam Owen will come
up to the line. Lots of tight ends, three of
(33:59):
them in fact. Ross is the tailback. Evans out on
his own to the left. Oh Claire loading up right
up the middle. Mowen under center, takes the snap hand
off to Ross. Ross dives for.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
The end zone touchdown. Blue Devils.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Chandler Ross is in leaping over the pile. Everybody went low,
he went high and the Blue Devils get on the
board first. It's six to nhing Stout nine oh five
left to go here in quarter number one, Chandler Ross
with the touchdown on the dive up the gut, his
fourth touchdown of the season. The power back at the line,
(34:36):
The Blue Devils will line up with a swinging gate
formation here and likely going to just kick the extra point,
I would imagine, and yep, they will bring the offensive
line back in onto attempt. The extra point is Garrison Jackman,
thirteen of thirteen so far on the season in extra
point attempts. The holder is Adam Mowen. The long snapper
Matt Larson. Snap spot kick is up and the kick
(34:59):
is good, but seven and nothing. Blue Devils with the
lead nine O five to go. First quarter back after
this here on your home from Blue Devils Football.
Speaker 18 (35:07):

Speaker 1 (35:35):
Be This is UW Stout Football on news Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Welcome back in here to Uwoclaire and Carson Park, as
the Blue Devils have a seven to nothing lead over
at Uwclare, nine oh five left to play here in
quarter number one. The drive for the Blue Devils goes
ten plays fifty two yards, takes five minutes and nine
seconds off the clock. After a fumble bio player on
their first drive, Stout takes it in on that fifty
(36:10):
two yard drive and the Blue Devils in good shape
here now up seven to nothing on their war on
ninety four rivals in UW o Claire. It is Garrison
Jackmanikick could wait wind it his back again and that
a high kick. Yachts Chewles got it at the two,
bring it near side hash marking numbers, got blockers to
the twenty, breaks a tackle and then gets taken down
(36:30):
at the twenty five yard line. Does the yachts chewle
They'll give them the twenty six a good return of
about twenty four yards and it's first and ten here
for the Blue Golds. Or they got a big play
on their first play of their first drive. That kind
of pop pass over the middle from Aiden Helder that
caught by Matt Kuchai that was almost intercepted by Brooks Brewer.
How are they going to go into the win, that's
(36:52):
the question. And I think they had some plays drawn
up for their first drive, but going into the win
the win kind of affected so much they might have
to change that game plan just a bit. Here's Mercado
as the tailback under center goes Helder one receiver left,
one right. The mand of the right goes in motion Keen.
It's a handoff to Mercado right side. He is hitting
the backfield and dropped. Dropped in the backfield by Owen
CHRISTA got into the backfield for a tackle for loss
(37:14):
back to the twenty four yard line. That's a two
yard loss. It'll be second and twelve, eight forty five
left to go. First quarter stout seven Oh Claire zero
and a good tackle there by Owen Christ of the junior.
That is his fourth tackle for loss of the season.
Speaker 15 (37:30):
Second and twelve.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
Blue Devils allow three hundred and six yards per game
of offense to their opponents, but only seventy one yards
per game rushing in their first three contests of the year.
Two receivers right, one left. Helder throws it out of
the backfield tool makes a catch. He is going to
be immediately though, hit up near the line of scrimmage,
and there as a penalty player coming in from the
side judge here is either in the area of whole.
(37:53):
I mean, it's got to be a hold, I would
imagine unless there's a face match with the side judge saw.
Speaker 19 (37:58):
On.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Yeah, school on the tackle. Let's listen into the call
from Chris Gibbs.
Speaker 16 (38:06):
Parcel foul face mask defense from fifty one fifty yards
and being.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
One automatic fat down plain side l is calling for
the face mask. That's one where he looked like he
got that hand up a little bit high and can't
do that obviously, up to the forty yard line and
automatic first down here for the Blue Golds, and they'll
aligne the clock with eight fifteen left to go first quarter,
stout seven oh claire zero here in the first two
receivers stacked left, two receivers stacked right. They'll send him
(38:34):
out in motion. That is jas Kalinsky, one of the
backup tight ends, one of the receivers that was stacked up.
He's now on the left side of the formation fake
the handoff, Helder wants to go over the middle of
throw yats tools Zera defender fell over. They get shuled
out in another face mask coming from Jesse Ellis. Ellis
yanked him down by the face mask again and he
gets up to the thirty five of Stout and they're
(38:55):
gonna add another fifteen yards here for that tackle. Elle's
just reaching out to try to stop him after he'd
fallen and he grabbed a face mask.
Speaker 16 (39:04):
Personal foul face fan defense and before fifteen yards on hand.
Speaker 15 (39:09):
Alone, all that a fat donals.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
This is not a good.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Defensive situation for Stout. They've give him up thirty yards
in penalty yardage on this drive and that is automatically
going to mark this off just outside the red zone,
as eu Claire was down at the thirty six yard
line on that tackle there of Ellis, so they'll mark
it up to the twenty one at the end of
the zone to our right from the breast box. Seven
to fifty five left to go, first quarter, seven to nothing.
(39:34):
Stout now wind the clock here is once again held her.
We'll go in the shotgun this time. He's got a
new tailback back there with him. That is Connor Paris
to his right. Three receivers bunched out to the right.
Paris moves to his left. Now in the shotgun. On
the near hash, he will run to the left. Here
will Helder's got a block initially and then nothing else.
He has hit immediately by Michael Reynolds, maybe half a
(39:57):
yard as he's just outside the twenty. It'll be second
and lawn, seven thirty left to go, first quarter. Like
rushing is an issue against Stout, Scouts defense might be
one of the better rushing defenses in all of the WIAC.
Passing has been an issue defensively fir Stout the last
few years. You've seen it already here on this drive.
(40:18):
One receiver left, one to the right, seven to nothing.
Stout seven to ten left to go first quarter. Held
her in the shotgun. Second and ten from just outside
the twenty yard line, sends a man in motion. He
rolls to his right. Pressure coming from behind. He throws
it out catch made it the twenty five and immediately
and it'll be a big loss on on the near
side to Kucai Kuchai Hi immediately by side. Den Dawson
(40:39):
Goodman came in to help out also and it's a
loss of a couple back to the twenty two yard line.
They're going to give him four progress too, so just
give him a loss to one and it will be
third and eleven here for the Blue Goals with six
thirty eight left to go first quarter. With how strong
this wind is, I mean, this is bordering on outside
a field goal range for a new kicker in Satchel Johnson,
(41:01):
who still is not attempting a field goal yet this season.
Stout late getting a player onto the field. That was
Dwight Kiffmeyer, defensive lineman. He is in though now and
now back to passes Helder, Helder looking left, he throws
it is in complete, a bad throw on the left side,
trying to find Nick Keen. No flags on the play.
It'll be fourth and eleven, and I'm not sure this
is field goal range. With how bad that wind is plowing,
(41:23):
you can hear it. You might almost have to go
for it. In this situation. You're looking at about a
thirty eight yard field goal, but again, a good fifteen
mile an hour win that you're kicking into here. If
you're the Blue Goals and they are going to go
for it, they need to get to the eleven yard
line for a first down. Ball at the twenty two
six seventeen left to go in the first quarter Stout
seven oh Claire zero. Two receivers left, one to the right,
(41:43):
shotgun formation for Helder on the near hash mark, moving
left to right. His tailback is Rothmyer. He waits to snap,
He's got it Stout bringing the pressure.
Speaker 20 (41:51):
It is sacked back at the thirty yard line. In
the Blue Deedals turn it over on downs.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
It's Michael Reynolds into the backfield ut along with the
Blue Devils Walker Ral as well. Again we didn't think
would start or play today, but he is in and
they get him back to the thirty one yard line,
about a nine yard loss at it's first and ten
Blue Devils six thirteen left to play here in the
(42:17):
first quarter. Kind of had to go for it. You
were in no man's land with how tough that wind
is blowing into the Blue Goals at the moment, and
they just did not have enough time to get that
pass off. Three receivers go right here for Adam Mowen
from his own thirty one yard line, no tailbacks back there.
(42:40):
He sends two tight ends to the left side of
the formation. Three receivers out right near hashmark right to
left they go. They send a man in motion then
Tolkienen was one of the receivers. Now he's a tailback.
No one gonna run it up the gut. He gets
hit at the line, falls forward for a yard maybe two.
Man at the top of the play the top of
the tackle was Lucas Swenson. There were other guys down
at the bottom there as well. Adult Hain is there
(43:01):
as well.
Speaker 15 (43:02):
Fine number seventy Yeah.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
Two yards on the play makes it second n eight
here for Stout at the thirty three yard line, their
own thirty three to five, forty nine left to go
first quarter. With how strong the wind is, this is
one where I think you feel like Stout needs to
go down and score here with the wind at their
backs before this quarter is up. We'll see if that's
the case. If they hurry things up. Two receivers right,
one left, they motion the Hughes out as a receiver
(43:25):
to the right. Mowen looking left, throws caught by Maggot,
spins at the forty and his push out of bounds
near the forty five yard line. He's got the first down. Yeah,
mark him out at the forty four. It's an eleven
yard gain and so out, just taking what the defense
gave them there. Now they want to get up to
the line quickly. We're going to come up to the
line quickly. Here no substitutions. The ball is finally placed
at the forty four. Two receivers right, one left. Mowen
(43:47):
awaits the snap and he will take it fake the
hand off to Hughes. Want to pass this one deep
over the top for Carter catch twenty five, twenty to
the fifteen, to ten to.
Speaker 4 (43:55):
The five, and he is out of bounds at the one.
Speaker 15 (43:59):
Number seven.
Speaker 4 (44:01):
A fifty five.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
Yard game to Avron Carter on a deep slant route
and he gets down to the one yard line on
the Blue Devils, or a yard away from their second
touchdown of the game. Avron Carter coming up with a
big catch, his sixteenth of the year put him over
two hundred yards now on the season, and the Blue
Devils quickly up to the line. Hughes is a tailback
offset right in the shotgun here at mowing Mowen waiting
to snap. The Blue Golds will give it off the
(44:24):
Blue Devils rather to Hughes up the gun.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
To the goal line, touchdown.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
Blue Devils. A one yard touchdown run for Chase Hughes,
his first touchdown of the season, and the Blue Devils
take a thirteen to zero lead here in the first
quarter with four forty six left to play. Stout with
the big pass play to Avron Carter and Hughes finishing
off the drive, and just like that, the Blue Devils
take a two touchdown lead.
Speaker 15 (44:51):
Kar'sen Jackman in attemph the extra block.
Speaker 3 (44:55):
Indeed, Jackman is on to attempt the extra point with
the wind at his back. A good snap, a good spot,
the kickup, and the kick is high over the student
section at the end to our left. Fourteen and nothing,
Blue Devils with the lead, four forty six left to go.
First quarter. We're back after this. You're on your home
for Blue Doubles football.
Speaker 21 (45:12):
Do you drive down the road wishing you'd break an
axle on your trailer just so you have an excuse
to get a new one.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
A that's dangerous. B. Quit wishing.

Speaker 3 (45:53):
Welcome back here to u w O Claire, to Carson
Park in downtown Oa Claire, Wisconsin, off campus here for Claire,
not too far away from the brand new Sun and
Tag Center, the home of Blugo football to go basketball,
volleyball now and plenty of other sports at brand new
beautiful facility just down off Monominee Street. I guess, somewhat
(46:14):
ironically enough, the Blue Devils going in for their second
drive of the game. Another touchdown, four plays, sixty nine yards,
capped off by a Chase Hughes one yard touchdown run.
The big play the Apron Carter fifty five yard touchdown
reception rather that got the Blue Devils down to the
one yard line. Adam mohen is two of three for
sixty six yards. Now as here comes a kickoff high
(46:34):
in the air, chewl at the one. We'll take it
between the numbers and the hashmark near side. He's at
the numbers out of the sideline and pushed out of
bounds near the twenty yard line, and a good coverage
here by the Blue Devils. This Jewel once again trying
to argue for another face mask after there were two
face masks on that last drive. Logolds starting to try
to take some shots now and trying to draw some flags.
(46:55):
It's a little early for that kind of desperation move.
I think if you're the Blue Golds, I'll mark him
out at the eight eighteen yard lines. Only a seventeen
yard return and Oaklaire backed up in their own end.
Adam Owen thirty three yards rushing ten yards for Ross,
seven for evans By for Hughes, Carter with that fifty
five yard reception, Maggot with an eleven yard reception as well.
(47:17):
Helder's so far three of four for fifty two yards.
He's under center and he sends a man in motion.
It's a handoff to the left side, not a lot
in fact, maybe a yard to the left side there
and the handoff to Mercadoo. Levels were there with Kale Lamb, yeah,
and I think getting some help there was money Kaisan
coming in and helping out on the play too, the
(47:37):
linebackers making the stop. One yard game. It'll be second
and nine here for the Blue goals win blowing hard
into their face with four fifteen remaining in the first quarter.
Three receivers right, one left, empty backfield for Helder and
the shotgun formation has a tight end off on the
left side of the formation. That's Kolinsky awaits the snap.
He gets it, looks left the entire weight, throws it
over the middle. Tools got the catch to the twenty
(47:58):
five spins and it cantinues to spin down at the
thirty yard line. A couple of my spins as money
guys and takes him down, but not after an eleven
yard game and a first down for the Blue Golds.
And a Blue Devil is down near the sideline for
Stout on the far side right by the thirty yard line.
A couple of spin bows there from Yah schule Man.
He's a bu player to watch, and this again has
(48:23):
the feeling of cramps already here for these teams. Is
going to be a hot day and we are going
to see lots of fluids needed for these guys. This again,
they're working out on the right leg of the player
who is down and hopefully okay here for Stout. First
and ten coming up for the Blue Goals at their
own thirty yard line. Fourteen nothing lead for Stout here
over Oh Claire Platteville with an early six to nothing
(48:44):
lead on Stevens point two. Fourteen left to play in
the first quarter of that game. No score between Oshkosh
and River Falls as of yet. And then see who
the man was who they took off the sideline there,
who was hurt? I want to say it's money Kaiser,
but don't quote me on that, and will take a
(49:07):
look at him and the player who comes off. Yeah,
River falls on Oshkosh. No score in their game. No
score in Whitewater versus Lacrosse either. All right, the Blue
Golds will get under way for a first and ten.
It's a fake handoff, roll out to the right, looking downfield.
Nothing there. Helder're gonna throw this one away, Sidel providing
the pressure, just had to get rid of it. And
(49:27):
he looked for Eli Thompson, but really was and he
was just trying to throw it away as there was
nobody opened down field. Second and ten now from the
thirty yard line, three forty three left to play here
in the first quarter, Stout fourteen oh Claire zero. Helder
with the incompletion f four of seven in the game
for sixty three yards. Two receivers go to the right,
(49:49):
nobody to the left. Couple of tight ends on the
line here for the Blue Golds, and Helder gets a
high snap running left. He gets hit in the backfield
and he's going to be dropped for a loss. It
was a design run initially got hit by Matt Blank
and then the other guys come in and finish it
were Drew Bourne's and others. See who else? I think
Viral was in there as well. Biral. Good to see
(50:11):
him into the game. Weren't sure he was going to
be able to play today, but he is in and
starting and playing well. It's a lost back to the
twenty eight yard line, third and twelve now here for
of the Blue Dolts, needing the forty for a first
down in their own territory. Three thirteen to go, first quarter,
Stout fourteen oh Claire zero. Two receivers right, one left.
Stout has all their defenders kind of set up near
(50:33):
the first down marker, just putting a wall up there.
They set up a screen catch made to the thirty
thirty five and down a couple of yards short will
be Paxton ron Meyer. He is short a couple of yards.
Looks like about a yard and a half that he's short.
I can't imagine they'll go for it. There is a
flag way back in the backfield. Is this going to
be rough in the passer?
Speaker 15 (50:52):
Pedally flag on the field.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
I have a feeling it is personal foul roughing the
past here? How do you get up in the passer
on a screen?
Speaker 15 (51:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (51:03):
Wow, Stout with another personal foul.
Speaker 16 (51:05):
I mean the defense to leave the field for one
play for a time coming off.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
So Owen Christ to hit him in the game late,
and that's going to move the ball up past the
fifty yard line into Stout territory to the forty six
and again the Blue Devils just shooting themselves in the
foot with these personal foul penalties. Just not sure. I mean,
maybe a little too amped up out there at the moment.
All right, So it's first and ten from the Stout
forty six yard line, two fifty two left to go.
(51:33):
First quarter, man in motion is keen right to left
It's a handoff to Mercado left side. He's hit at
the line but does a nice job falling up four
to the three yard line. About a three yard gain
on first down shop by Matt Blank again too like Perker,
Clifvetter was in on the play as well, the three
yard gain. Second and seven here for the Blue Golds
(51:55):
to thirty left to go first quarter sound. I had
a chance to get off the field there, but the
rough in the passer penalty and then gates that and
gives eu Claire first down into South territory. They've been
into South territory three times, but turnover on downs in
a fumble. The last two hand off left side, Mercado
trying to bounce it out. He cuts at the forty
shirt in the legs. He won't get much more than
(52:16):
the forty yard line. Boy, Blue Devils are really pursuing
to the ball nicely, and was Dawson Goodman out of
the safety spot to help out on the stop. He'll
get it up to the forty and that will bring
up third and about four here for the Blue goals.
And this is go for it territory. It's four down
territory all day long. So they got two downs to
get four yards of one fifty left to play in
the first quarter. Man out to the right side of
(52:40):
the formation. They put a receiver out there. He like Thompson,
one receiver left on the far hash Mark throw it
over the middle. It is it is complete wow, almost
deflected there by side ow. They get it to Thompson
on a quick little curl across the thirty five to
thirty three yard line for a seven yard game in
a first down inside l was very very close to
(53:04):
at least get in a pawn that one. And now
the Blue Devils have a man down. Run into the
sideline as well. One twenty four left to play here
in the first and he was running to the sideline
there was Drew Schneider and then he went down and
he's still limping as he gets up. I know this
is not a cramp. This is some other kind of
issue that he's having. And he will be helped off
(53:25):
to the sideline and they'll take a look out of him.
This Blue Devil team is banged up. They're banged up.
Last year when they played Oak Clare or something that
Coach Birmingham talked about with me after the game. He
said Pete. I was nervous about this game. We were
so banged up. We had guys last year who didn't
practice all week. They only got game time when they
got into the game and played really well against Oaklare
(53:45):
that ballgame last year in me Nominee, and I'd imagine
there's probably a few guys who did that this year
or this season as well. Two receivers left, two to
the right, first and tent After that catch from Thompson
at the thirty three of Stout, Heller in the shotgun,
two receivers two left. He wants to run left side,
he cuts, he slips, and then he is taken down
up near the thirty two yard line. He'll be a
(54:06):
one yard gain as he kind of slipped and then
fell over top Parker Clivetter. Almost looked like Clivetter threw
out a leg and tripped him there, but no call.
And it's second and nine to the thirty two yard line,
fifty seven seconds left in the first quarter, Stout fourteen,
Oa Claire zero. I just hope that our equipment doesn't
overheat today. The sun is just belting right into the
(54:29):
press box here as we face south Man in motion
is Kouchai from right to left. Rolling out is Helder
looking downfield. We'll throw it to his check down at
the thirty twenty five hit out of bounds goes Mercado.
He is short of the first down by a few
yards here at the twenty six, a six yard gain.
It'll be third and short and the Blue Golds can
(54:49):
take the snap after the quarter ends, which they might
want to do with the wind blowing as it is.
I think if by'm Rob Rickson, I wait till the
second quarter to take this third down snap. I don't
take can play here because if you don't get it,
then you might want to kick a field goal, and
then you'll have the win at your back. And if
it's a pass and it's incomplete at stops o'clock. So
they are indeed going to take the clock down and
we are going to get to the second quarter. Well,
(55:11):
great quarter for the Blue Devils, no doubt about it.
They leave fourteen to nothing, but Oa Claire is knocking
on the red zone doorstep. We'll see what they can
do on a third and a three rather from the
twenty six when we come back right after this on
your home for Blue Devils.

Speaker 3 (56:05):
We'll go back here to Carson Park, UW Claire trailing
Stout fourteen to nothing after the first quarter. We switch
ends and now oh Claire will have to win at
their back for the next fifteen minutes. And they've got
the ball already at the Stout twenty six yard line
on a third and three coming up. It's Stout going
backwards and they have had have the blue doubles three
(56:25):
personal foul penalties in that first quarter for forty five yards.
They got to cut those penalties out. Not to say
they won't win if they cut them out, but man,
they could be in a lot better shape right now
if not for those penalties. And they're already in good
shape up fourteen to nothing, so to be held here
in the pistol formation. He has Rothmeyer as his tailback
behind him, one receiver right, one left. They need three yards.
(56:47):
Rothmeyer gonna get it up. The gut counters right and
he will push forward. I think he's got the first down. Indeed,
he does, running right. Brewer came up out of the
same blue spot to make the stop, but not before
he gets to the twenty two and that is a
first down at the twenty two yard line, so first down.
Blue golds in the speaker system not going doing well
(57:07):
with the wind year as well, so you can hear
the win whipping around and the speakers going in and out.
Here at Carson Park. One receiver out to the left.
That man is Levi Pooley. Man in motion is a
tight end right to left and the handoff will go
to the left side. Here good push up front initially,
and then across the twenty up near the eighteen yard
(57:27):
line goes Rothmeyer on a four yard game. Student body
left for Rothmeyer and he is right between the hash
marks as he is stopped by cool Sanger and Matt
blank and it'll be second and six as Oa Blaire
is into the red zone. Were the first time today
they were close to it on the last drive they
(57:48):
were into the red zone. So far on the season,
Blue Golds are eleven of fourteen in the red zone,
but only seven touchdowns of those fourteen trips of the
red zone, so about half the time they score a touchdown.
Outside of that, it's either field goals or less is
There's a run to the left side for Rothmeyer, not
much as he trips up at the seventeen yard line.
Look like Sidel was the man who got the first
(58:08):
pressure on him. Brewer close by as well as he trips.
Speaker 10 (58:11):
Up for a yard nineteen.
Speaker 3 (58:14):
I'm a still going to say that Carson Tate was
in on the play too.
Speaker 15 (58:17):
Stout Carson Tate.
Speaker 3 (58:19):
So it'll be third and about five here from the
from the seventeen yard line for the blue goals and
need the twelve for a first sound on the near
hash mark. They moved right to left as you listen
to him here at home from Carson Park thirteen at
fifteen left to play in the second quarter, south fourteen
oh Clare zero back to pass he looks right side,
slant catch made at the ten, tripped up down here
in the six yard line on a catchout on the
right side, single coverage and the catch made by Kuchai.
(58:43):
He's got a first and goal coming up here for
the Blue Goals at the seven, tripped up out on
the right edge for stout by ellis just a single
coverage here and a quick move and that took care
of business.
Speaker 15 (58:55):
Can getting first.
Speaker 3 (58:56):
Gavin Goodman out of there.
Speaker 11 (58:57):
A J.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
Hogan's gonna come in as the other corner on the
near side. Eye formation this time. You'll see this from
the Blue Golds from time to time. Use the eye
formation and the handoff will go to the left side.
There's not much in fact that might be a one
yard loss on the handoff to Rothmeyer again. Rothmeyer will
get back to the line of scrimmage, might have lost
a half a yard running to the left. Reynolds and
(59:20):
Siddell there to stop the runner, and it'll be second
in Gold from back near the eight yard line. Ball
in the middle of the house mark with the wind
at their backs for the Blue Golds going into the
student section at the east.
Speaker 10 (59:33):
End zone second and.
Speaker 3 (59:35):
Twelve to twelve left to play. Second quarter stout fourteen
oak Claire zero held it under center again. One receiver right,
one left, tailback is Mercado, sends a man in motion
that would look like there was early movement not called
Mercado bouncing it out with a stiff farm and he
is wrapped up back near the ten yard line. Fighting
(59:55):
through the stiff arm. Over there is Blaine Sidel to
get a three yard loss on the tackle. It'll be
third and goal from the eleven fifty one as plain
side Hell doing a great job on the edge making
the stops.
Speaker 15 (01:00:12):
All back at the eleven third and goals.
Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
Christa coming in as a new defensive lineman checking in
for Jacob Didel, and now the Blue dep golds eleven
yards away from Paydert. They easily can get a field
goal from this range, but down fourteen to nothing, you're
already thinking about getting close enough to go for it.
Three receivers left, one right, third and goal from the eleven.
Back to passer comes the naked boot left side up
(01:00:35):
and it is incomplete, but the flag on the play.
They got a linebacker out on Kootchie. It was the
better covering and he kind of face guarded him a
little bit of contact. This will be passing her parents
and it'll be first and goal for the Blue Golds.
And a good job by Rob Erickson to kind of
scheme getting a linebacker onto one of their receivers. And
that's exactly what happened.
Speaker 15 (01:00:57):
Forty eight Back to play line at its first out.
Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
And college football gets placed at the two and so
first and goal here for the Blue Golds. Fourteen nothing
stout with the league, but oak player knocking on the
door of the eleven. Ten left to play. You're in
quarter two. Blue Devils have scored on both of their drives.
This is the third drive four Oh Claire, one ending
(01:01:25):
on a turnover on downs, one ending on a fumble.
Ten seconds on the play clock. They don't have to
play in here. They're gonna have to take time out.
Clock is stopped anyway, so they can take it whenever,
and Oaklaire will take the time out and we'll take
it with him. Dan, I'm gonna take a swig of water.
It's hot, man. We'll take a time out. It's first
and goal for the Blue Golds. Coming up back right
after this, earn your home for Blue Devils football.

Welcome back here to Carson Parks Stout versus o Claire
war On ninety four blue doubles with the lead fourteen
to uhing over Uwclaire Pekannutson with you the price back
in the studio here on Newstock wm EQ. It is
a first and goal from the two coming up for
Oclaire after a pass interference penalty. O'claire had to burn
a time out as they couldn't get the play in
there after that pass interference, and so it will be
(01:02:52):
a direct snap situation coming up here. This is Mercado
and the Wildcat awaiting the snap. He takes it, he
runs left and now counters back to the right. There's
a hole he is in despite.
Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
The holding that was going on on the line.
Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
Boy, you talk about a big handful of jersey there
for Peyton Jackson's center doesn't matter. It's a touchdown for
the Blue Golds and they are in for the score.
And now Oh Claire has cut the lead to one score,
fourteen to six. Passingerp parents penalty coming up big again.
All the penalties that Stout has had have been big.
(01:03:26):
It seems like four penalties already for a total of
fifty four yards and Stout cuts those out. I mean
they could be up by three touchdowns right now, snap spot.
The extra point is up and it is good from
Satchel Johnson. Fourteen to seven Stout with the lead eleven
oh five left to go. Second quarter. We will come
(01:03:46):
back right after this here here on your home for

He welcome back in here to Carson Park. The Blue
Golds march it downfield, the Blue Devils giving a too
many penalty yard away. They have committed four penalties for
fifty four yards in this game. O'claire has not committed
a penalty as of yet. Oh claire goes in on
an eighteen play eighty two yard drive. Took eight minutes
and thirty five seconds off the clock, and Stout had
(01:04:51):
a couple of chances to stop them. The penalties or
what's kept the drive alive for the Blue Golds and
now they get set to kick things away back to
return for the Blue Devils. Jojo James and DeVante Evans.
James with a touchdown already on the season. This is
gonna fly though back to the two yard line. Evan's
gonna take it back to the ten of the fifteen
looking for a lane. Twenty oh, He's got a big
hit at the twenty yard line taking down to the
(01:05:12):
twenty three is he gets pushed around a little bit
more after a big hit by Ryan Spikerman, and it
will be Stout ball deep in their own territory into
the wind that you can hear howling through our crowd microphone.
Apologies at home, but it is strong here today and
now Stout for the first time today is going into
the wind. Now with the wind at their back. They
(01:05:36):
have looked awfully good. Now into the wind. We'll see
how that changes things. Back in the day. You know,
Stout's had many a receiver that they could just throw
the ball into the wind on and let him go
up for a jump ball if they had single coverage
and just go with it. But not sure that's the
case this season. Here for the Blue Devils. Two receivers
to the left and Ross to the right of Mowen.
As he sets two tight ends up on the right
side on the near hash Mark mowing back to pass
(01:05:58):
looks over the middle launches this one upper Carter is
deflected and incomplete. Great defense downfield by Nate Majuski, and
it's incomplete. MAJUICKEI timed it beautifully, and again I think
that's Mowen trying to adjust to the wind as well.
Where's that ball gonna get held up? How much harder
do you have to throw it? And that just throws
you off enough for him to have thrown that just
a touch behind. Carter still would have caught him in stride,
(01:06:20):
but he had to slow his route down a bit.
Stout is going to make a substitution here, and they've
got too many men in the formation. Now they're going
to run a guy off. They never had him set though.
That will allow eu Claire to get a substitution here.
And now a flag, well, he was never in the formation.
I don't know how you can have a flag on
(01:06:41):
the play. Wow, all right, So Dawson Fara came in
thinking he was supposed to be in there, and then
he wasn't. And Stout's got a back up five yards
burers are leading the cup, so that will get a
little cheer out of the here everybody. I suppose they
(01:07:01):
can all get in on that fourteen to seven here
stout with the lead ten to fifty four left to
go in the second quarter, two receiver partly, three receivers
to the left, two to the right, empty backfield for Mowen.
It is second and fifteen after the penalty. Mowen takes
the snap, looks right the entire way throws a maggot
will drops it at the twenty yard line. Would have
only been a couple of yard gain, just a quick
(01:07:22):
pop pass there, but not a terribly creative play to
get this ball down field. And that's third and fifteen,
and they might be thinking about a draw just to
get some yardage. But into the wind, I mean, I
don't know if a whole lot, you know, ten five
ten yards really does much for you, you might as
well try to go for the first down. Here Tadler
Ross the tailback, and again that wind really whipping around
(01:07:44):
here at Carson Park. Two receivers to the left, two
dne ends to the left, Ross is the tailback, and
the pistol. With Mowen ten point thirty six left to go,
second quarter, you can feel the tide kind of turning
toward the Blue Golds a bit Mowen awaits the snap
and he will take it himself, looking left the entire
We're gonna step up and run so the twenty trying
(01:08:04):
to bounce it out to the right side. Here he
gets taken down at the twenty four yard line, and
a little extra pushing and shoving afterward, but all is well.
No flags on the play. He gets numbers the yards
back there about a seven yard game, but it'll be
fourth down and the Stout's gonna have to pump this away.
First time that the Blue Golds defense has stopped out today.
(01:08:26):
And now the punter comes on and Brady Prevy prev
a forty yard punt average for him on the season,
and if he gets forty yards out of this, I'll
be shocked with the wind blowing into his face. Stout
and I imagine o'claire's gonna be thinking punt block here.
Back to return is Nick Keene. Preevy's standing at his
(01:08:47):
own ten. Only three seconds to get the snap off
here zero and they just get it away. Preevy does
get the punt away, it almost gets blocked, and it
will be returned at the forty five yard line and
to the forty eight. Maybe the forty nine on the run.
It was not a good kick and a good return
from Keen to get it up in near midfield. So
it's all blue Golds right now. We've though Stout leads
(01:09:07):
fourteen to seven.
Speaker 15 (01:09:09):
It'll be.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
They'll have it at their own forty eight yard line.
Will oh Claire, We'll try to work on that crowd
mike situation at halftime, but I don't think there's much
stopping it. The wind just kind of blowing directly at
the end zone to our left and kind of in
toward the press box as well, something that you deal
with here at Carson Park, especially on day games. Two
receivers left to right, ninety six left to go. Second quarter,
(01:09:34):
Stout fourteen, Oa Claire seven. Two receivers left to right.
They set a man of motion left to right. That's
the tight end, Sean. Now they put chewle Out as
a running back. They throw it to him out on
the right side. He drops it. How's the backwards pass?
Stout's got it and they're gonna say it's a forward pass. Now,
Initially it looked like they were going to mark that
a backwards pass. It was very very close. Stout fell
(01:09:55):
on it out on the edge, but in the end
it ends up being called in complete. That was Gabe
Kramer who was the closest one to it and fell
on it, but incomplete as a call. Second and ten,
Second and ten here for eau Claire as Blue starts
to have some fun with the crowd. They finally put
a jersey on Blue. Good for them. Two receivers right,
(01:10:20):
one left on the near hash mark in the shotgun
formation is held her. Second and ten from their own
forty eight yard line. Here comes the blitz. They throw
it quickly out of it a catch made at the
fifty and then thrown out of bounds. There's a late
flat for what another face mask? It's a four yard
game for now. I think it's a face mask. It's
got to be. It's got to be on Stout with
where they threw that flag sidel again. Unbelievable. That's the
(01:10:47):
fourth face mask of this half against Stout. What are
they doing this? So mark the ball all the way
up to the thirty three yard line of Stout and
oh Claire's I mean they're thirty three yards away from
tying this ball. Game up nine thirty six left to go.
(01:11:09):
Second quarter, fourteen to seven Stout Stout just shooting themselves
in the foot. Right now they clean up the penalties.
They're in great shape. Two receivers left, one right. They
send Schul in motion left to right. They fake the
handoff to him on an end around set up a
screen catch made again by Rothmeyer, left side, makes a cut.
He said the thirty hit from behind and still on
his feet up across the twenty five to the twenty three.
(01:11:31):
How did he stay on his feet? Ten yard gain
a verse down on the screen and right now Stout's
getting after it on the blitz and they are throwing
the screens right into where the blitz is coming from.
And they're kind of taking advantage of Stout's aggression a bit,
and they're doing it well. Ball at the twenty two
yard line of Stout first and ten eight point fifty
(01:11:53):
left to play here in quarter number two, Stout leading
fourteen to seven first and ten for Helder. Helder with
one He's either left, one right. Cheule is his running back.
Chewele gonna go out to the right side. They faked
the pass out to him. He'll run right instead. Will
held her across the twenty calls up to the eighteen
yard line. That's a four yard scamper tackled by Daniel
Walker on the play. Also in the backfielders drew sure
(01:12:15):
and it will be his four yard game. Second and
six high or four of the blue goals win blowing
hard at the backs of the Blue Golds. Eight nineteen
to go here in the second stout fourteen Oh Claire seven.
Two receivers right, one left, two running backs flanking the
(01:12:35):
man and Helder Hell, they're going to keep it himself
running left. Blocks are set up. He's to the fifteen
to the fourteen yard line, and he gets to the
fourteen yard line on another four yard game. Third and
two coming up in a whistle, and Helder's helmet came off.
He's saying somebody ripped it off, but that would be
the fifth face mask, and I don't think the officials
want to throw that. So Helder's got to come off,
(01:12:56):
or they could call a time out and get him
off there. So I think Krendon ken Krogman, who was
already out there as a decoy running back, is going
to stay on as the.
Speaker 15 (01:13:03):
Quarterback the game and a play Bok was started my ready.
Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
So we've got a big line change here for the
Blue Goals. It'll be third and two from the fourteen
yard line, and Kennan Krogman, the oaklay Regis Rambler is
in a quarterback. It's not the inverted double wing, folks.
It's a shotgun formation. Two receivers right, one left, and
two running backs flanking him as well. One of them
is chewel of the receiver and Krogman will hand it
(01:13:30):
off thought keep it himself running up the gut. He
does not get there. He's gonna be a yard short
running right. It was cool Sanger to make the stop.
And now the Blue Golds have a decision. It is
fourth and one from the thirteen yard line. In fact,
they're gonna mark him just inside the thirteenth so it's
fourth and inches, fourth and about a foot, and the
Blue Goals are going to go for it. I mean
(01:13:50):
they had to win at their back. They could easily
make this a fourteen to ten game if they wanted to.
But they want more. And I think with the wind
into Stout, if they give up the ball around a
turnover on downs, I don't think they're terrible worried about that,
with how far back Stout would be pinned seven eleven
left to go second quarter. The play has not gotten
in yet, and I think Rob Rickson's going to take
a time out here nine seconds left on the play clock,
(01:14:12):
and so yeah, they're gonna take a time out, and
that will be the case. With seven oh one left
to play in the second quarter, Stout fourteen oat Player
seven to fourth in inches coming up here for the
Blue goals. Plattville is up fourteen to nothing on Stevens
point eleven oh nine left to go in the second
quarter of their game Oshkosh and River Falls. They're tied
at seventh seven twenty three left to go in their contest.
(01:14:32):
Whitewater up seven to nothing on Lacrosse with nine to
nineteen left to go at Perkins Stadium. Next week, the
Blue Devils will be back home to take on Oshkosh.
Then they had on the road for a Friday night game,
a rare Friday night game in the YAC at Whitewater,
and then they'll be back at home before heading to
Lacrosse as well. So be kind of a crazy wow
(01:14:55):
couple of weeks for Stout. As we get into wi
AC play at halftime, don't Mondo the right tackle for
the Blue Devils out of Oaklaire North High School will
be our guest talking a little bit about this rivalry
and this time playing for the Huskies. So stay tuned
for that. I'll tell you what my popping my water here,
(01:15:16):
mister Price, have gotten really hot in this press box.
It is hot up here. It is a sweatbox basically
as the sun is beating down here on an eighty
five degree early October day, which makes no sense. All right,
under center goes Helder, and he is gonna keep it
himself on the keeper. He's got the first down out
of time out. Just a student body push to the
(01:15:37):
left and he gets all the way to the ten
yard line. I think they're gonna call this first and
goal and drop the chains. Indeed they are fall up
his candy, So first and tent here for Oa Claire
first and goal, I should say for O Claire at
the ten yard line, six point thirty five left to go,
second quarter, stout fourteen Oa Claire seven. I do have
(01:16:00):
only one time out left here in the half. Do
the Blue golds once again? Helder goes under center. His
running back is Mercado, fakes the handoff rolls who is
left looking across where the end zone fade rout is up. Incomplete,
receiver fell over there for the Blue Golds. That was
Drew Kavanaugh backup running back, I believe was it? No,
(01:16:21):
it wasn't Drew Kavanaugh. That was a coochie. Rather number
ten was in the game, but.
Speaker 4 (01:16:26):
That was not the case.
Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
So incomplete, and we'll bring up second end goal from
the ten. Interested to see what the Blue Golds do
what they don't get it before fourth down? Here's Helder
in the shotgun in a whistle. What we got here?
I think the plate clock might be wrong. Blake clock
didn't start.
Speaker 15 (01:16:46):
Plate clock twenty five seconds. The plate clock we'll started
my ready along with the game clock.
Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
Yeah, they play clock was off and that will all
start up now. Six eighteen to go here in the
second quarter stout fourteen oaklair seven and our whistle. What
do we got here? Something's up with the clock in.
Speaker 15 (01:17:07):
Six minutes nineteen seconds on the game cloth. The game
clock will start with staff all.
Speaker 3 (01:17:12):
Right, game clock will start on the snap. The play
clock will start when he says, you reset to twenty
five okay, we'll get it all right. There we go,
all right, second and goal from the ten. Here for
Helder two receivers right one left shotunformation, so Out brings
a pressure, throws it almost intercepted toward Brewery got a
pawn it. There was really no blue gold around I
(01:17:34):
think in miscommunication on that route. Brewer Dove got a
hand on it on the near side, but could not
come away with the interception. It's third and goal from
the ten yard line. Goal Sel gets a quick substitution
Matt blank out Michael Reynolds inn up on the offensive
or defensive line. Third and goal from the ten yard line.
Here for eu Claire, the wind whipping and howling. Here
(01:17:56):
on this War on ninety four contest on a hot
October day, sixteen left to play. Here in quarter number two,
stout fourteen oh Claire seven, Third and goal from the
ten held her in the shotgun. He takes the snap,
looks to the right, throws it over the top. It
is up at in complete off the hands of Couchi
boy in between a ton of white Jersey's a perfect throw, Coocha.
(01:18:17):
I'm not sure he really expected it to be that
good of a throw. It's off his hands, incomplete. In
the field goal unit comes out in satchel Johnson Here
for the blue goals. Johnson is out, Vince Hans is
the holder. Logan Freeze is the long snapper here for
the blue goals. This will be eight twenty seven yard
attep balls pretty much in the middle of the hash marks.
(01:18:37):
So Win is blowing a little bit of a hook, Win,
So you gotta aim this one a little bit to
the right. I would imagine here does Johnson? Win does
that his back so that shouldn't be a problem, But
the accuracy is gonna be the tough part. Twenty seven
yard attempt snap spot kick is up, It's long enough
and it is good. Six o eight left to go.
Second quarter. Stout maintains a fourteen to ten lead over
(01:18:58):
Oh Claire. We're back right at for this here on
your home for Blue Doubles football.

Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
Back at Carson Park. The Blue Gold score again back
to back drives, this time a field goal of twenty
seven yards and they now take or at least cut
into the leads fourteen to ten. Stout with the lead
here on Eau Claire six oh eight left to go.
Second quarter again, the wind has been an issue today.
Both teams when they have been going into the wind
have not done much. This will be up to I
think Jojo James and DeVante Evans or remember, gets this
(01:20:04):
ball to get a good return and try to set
up the Blue Devils with decent field position. Feel a
little bit more confident here going toward the end zone.
So the kickoff are Waits and oak Claire with a
good response after going down fourteen to nothing in this game.
Kick is high in the air toward Evans on the
near side and it's over his head and into the
end zone and that will be a touchback, bringing out
to the twenty five yard line. Good decision there from
(01:20:25):
Devonte Evans.
Speaker 8 (01:20:29):
Again.
Speaker 3 (01:20:29):
Dalton Mondo are halftime guest looking forward to that the
scoring drive for the Blue Golds on that last drive
ends up being an eleven play, forty two yard drive
three minutes thirty eight seconds, ending on the twenty seven
yard field goal. It is worth noting that Oak Claire
has had about two to one time of possession. They've
(01:20:50):
possessed the ball for sixteen minutes, Stout for eight minutes
of this game. Blue Devils and the Blue Golds Zoe
Buck even in yards one hundred twenty eight yards of
offense for Stout one hundred and twenty five Claire under center,
here goes Adam Mohen and the handoff will go to
Ross right up the gut, waiting a hole. He doesn't
get much across the twenty five and up near the
thirty gets three on the plate of the twenty eight
(01:21:11):
three yard game there on first down stop by Brady Hoffner,
the senior linebacker Carrie twelve. Brady Hawkner second and seven
here for Stout, five point fifty left to play second
in the second quarter, fourteen to ten. Excuse me, Stout
with the lead only fourteen yards rushing though for ro Claire,
sixty two for Stout. Adam mohen is two to five
for sixty six yards through the air. It has been
(01:21:32):
tough sledding throwing the ball so far in this game,
outside of that great Avern Carter catch on the second
drive of the game. Three receivers right, two tight ends left.
I'm gonna send Jojo James in motion now as a tailback.
They will give it to him around the end, looking
for space, dancing left side, break some tackles, tiptoes the sideline,
he's out of bounds near the thirty and they'll mark
him out at the thirty one yard line for a
(01:21:55):
three yard gain again. And it's third and four here
for Stout at their own thirty one, So two three
yard games. They need a four yard game or more
and out of keep the chains moving. Five ten left
to play here in quarter number two. I don't think
the weather's gonna get any better, folks. I'm gonna get hotter, man.
I'm gonna have just keep backing up and hope that
(01:22:15):
there's some cloud covered. Two receivers right, two to the
left here for Mowing Ross is his tailback. He sends
Carter in motion right to left across the formation. Need
to get to the thirty five for first down. Ball
off the thirty one, mowing back to pass four man rush,
looking nothing there. He steps up, going to run left.
He looks like he can run for the first down.
He does, he said the forty and he's taken down
up near the forty two. Maybe the forty three late
(01:22:36):
flag coming in. I think they spiked him there as
he went into the turf. It'll be a late hit
on the Blue Golds. Jack shell Drop looked like shell
Drop was the man who kind of spiked him there,
and this will be an extra fifteen yards for the
Blue Devils. Four forty one left to play in the
second quarter. Here's the call.
Speaker 16 (01:22:54):
I'm not saying Roughmans defense number thirty three, fifteen yard
the end of the wrong I've got.
Speaker 15 (01:23:00):
It first down.
Speaker 3 (01:23:01):
Jake Gregorio was the man who ended up with the hit.
It was shell Drop on the initial tackle. Then Gregorio
came in after he was on the turf and hit him.
And so it was a good run for mowing of
about eleven yards. Tack on another fifteen and now the
ball into Clair territory to the forty two yard line
of the Blue Golds. Four forty left to play here
(01:23:21):
in the second quarter, fourteen to ten Stout with the
lead pistol formation on the far hash mark left to right,
go to the Blue Devils. Mowing has Ross behind him
in the pistol formation. Two tight ends left, two receivers right.
He awaits to snap a little motion there from Ross
and they will give it to him. Running left. Got
a hold of the forty and staying up right and
being pushed backwards that thirty maybe the thirty seven yard line.
(01:23:44):
I think they're gonna give him forward progress too, for
maybe a five yard gain. You're gonna mark meant the
thirty eight. It looks like so a four yard gain
to the light. Ryan Spickerman in on the stop. Four
h three left to play here in the second re
receivers out to the right. Stout trying to run a
little bit quickly here Mowen looking to run left on
the keeper. He's got the first down, I think to
(01:24:07):
the left side across the thirty five. They're gonna mark
him just short of the first down at the thirty
three yard line. He's about a half a yard short
of the first dound marker. It'll be third in inches
here with three forty left to go on the second quarter,
Adam owing on the keeper. There was movement. It looked
like the Blue Golds move first, and then there might
have been some movement on the offensive line on that
(01:24:27):
quick snap. Blue Golds trying to jump the snap. Now
that they look to the sideline here with the Devil's
got eighteen on the play clock to change it. Oh,
it's a quick snap. They get it to Hughes and
he's got the first down and more across the thirty.
That's a little decoy play.
Speaker 24 (01:24:41):
It was.
Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
Mowen look into the sideline, he put his hands up,
going what's the play, what's the play? And then they
snapped it quick to Hughes and the Blue Goals weren't
ready for it to the twenty nine yard line. About
a four yard game and it's first down. Stout. Little
trickery there from the Blue Devils. Two receivers right, one
left on the far hash mark. Mowen takes a snap,
takes a handoff. The pressure come, gotta get away from it.
He doesn't see it coming. Gotta get rid of this ball,
(01:25:03):
he will, and it is incomplete he gotta pass the line.
I think it doesn't matter where it goes out of bounds,
it matters how far it goes. And it looks like
that will not be grounding. Rob Erickson's trying to argue that,
but they will not entertain the grounding call. Second and
ten here from the twenty nine of Oh Claire and
again Garrison Jackman has a good boot, but I think
(01:25:24):
you got to get another ten yards to feel confident
into this about fifteen mile an hour win that the
Blue Devils are moving into. We're under three minutes left
to play in the second quarter. It's stout fourteen Oh
Claire ten. At the twenty nine of Oh Claire, two
receivers right and two tight ends offset on the left
side of the line on the far hash mark left
to right. They go Ross is the tailback in the
pistol mow and takes a snap. He takes a handoff,
(01:25:45):
looks to throw right, He waits, He throws Evans Bobble's
incomplete would have had to catch at the twenty. It
would have been about a yard or too short of
the first down, and it went right off his bread basket.
I think he heard the steps of Ryan Spickerman and
just took his eye off and it's incomplete. Third and ten.
Should have been a catch, it was not. Adam Mowen
has not done much in this first half from a
(01:26:06):
passing standpoint. It's now two of seven for sixty six yards,
and fifty five of them came on one pass, so
it's been tough sledding passing the ball here for Stout
in this first half, need to get to the nineteen
for a first down. It's third and ten. Ball at
the twenty nine. Carter goes in motion left or right.
Three receivers now on the right side for mowing. Five
(01:26:27):
seconds on the play clock. Takes a snap. Here comes
the pressure set up a screen catch made by Hughes.
He's got three blockers in front of him, makes the
move first sideline twenty. He makes the move inside of
the fifteen yard line. It's a first down for Stout.
He had three blockers set up in front of him,
a wall of white and into the fifteen yard line.
He goes fourteen yards on the play, first down, Blue Devils.
They expected a blitz. They got the blitz and they
(01:26:49):
threw into it on the screen to Hughes and uses
into the red zone here for Stout at the end zone,
do our right two twenty to go here In the second,
Stout could let the c tick down to the two
minute timeout if they want, and I think that's what
they're gonna do. Stout has three timeouts remaining. We are
going to get the two minute time out here from
(01:27:12):
Carson Park fourteen to ten. Stop with the lead on
Oa Claire two minute time out. Come on your way,
Stout with a first and ten at the fifteen yard
line that comes your way after this or after this
timeout on your home coming up.

Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
Welcome back here to Carson Park. We hit the two
minute time out and it's Stout fourteen, Oh Blair ten
and an entertaining first half in the war On ninety four.
Stout tries to get double digit wins in a row
against this Blue Gold team. They won nine in a
row against O Claire and they're hoping for ten today.
They had a great startup fourteen to nothing, but OA
Claire has spot back, made it fourteen to ten. Adam
(01:28:26):
Oent has a first and ten and out whistle and
what's the problem here? Time out? Come go figure. Stout
takes the time out as they did not like the
set up there of that play to one and apparently
they're watching the Brewers Cups game up here because it's
nine to one now Brewers. They give him a lot
of score updates on that Brews and Cups game as well,
(01:28:46):
so other scores in the wiac Platt bill twenty one
Stevens point zero. That's about what we expected. That game
is about three minutes from the half, one minute fifty
left in the second quarter in Oshkosh and the Titans
and the River Falls Falcons are tied at seven and
White Water leading fourteen to nothing at home over lacrosse.
It feels like it was an off year for Whitewater
(01:29:09):
last year with all the losses they incurred. And I
think that they got their act together and they said,
all right, we're gonna go and do our thing this
next year and reset stuff and go. Figure that they
are already up fourteen to nothing on the number five
team in the country and UW lacrosse. All right, So
Stout in the pistol here out of their next time out,
(01:29:31):
still two minutes left to play here in the second quarter,
Stout fourteen, don't clear ten. Two receivers out to the
right Mowan and the shotgun pistol formation with Ross behind him,
and he will give it to Ross. Ross looking right
castle hole for a moment, then just hits the defender
and just turns the legs up across the ten, pushing
his way up to the nine yard line. It's a
six yard game for the Blue Devils and that's second
(01:29:52):
and four coming up. Canilacus makes the stop, but not
before a six yard gain and Stout's content to let
the clock run a little bit here. They want to
try to score right at the end of the half
because o Claire is going to get the ball to
start the second half. A stout will get the ball
to start the second half. So they'd like to score
and then have the ball back score again. And they could,
(01:30:13):
i mean, get themselves up by three scores if everything
works out the way they want it to. Second and
four from the nine of Oa Claire at the end zone,
do our right, one twenty to go. Mowing awaits the snap,
takes it. It's another hand off to Rosno. He keeps
it himself on the keeper around the.
Speaker 4 (01:30:25):
Left edge to the end zone. Touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
Adam Mowing on the keeper on the naked booter on
the left side. He is in for the nine yards
score in the Blue Devils regain a two score late.
It's twenty to ten over Oh Claire. One twelve left
to play here in the first half. Adam Mowen with
his third rushing touchdown of the season. All the touchdowns
today for the Blue Devils have been on the ground,
(01:30:49):
and now it is Garrison Jackman on to attempt an
extra point into the win, and he's gonna get a
little bit of a sense of how long that ball
is gonna go when he's kicking into the win.
Speaker 25 (01:30:58):
There is.
Speaker 3 (01:30:58):
You know, there's a tree line at the end zone
to our right, maybe blocks a little bit of that
wind if you keep it low and as here comes
the extra point snap spot kick is up and it
is good from Jackman. Twenty one to ten start with
the lead, one twelve up to go. Second quarter. We'll
come back right after this. You're on your home for
blue doubles football.

Speaker 1 (01:31:50):
This is UW stout football on News Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (01:31:58):
Well the Blue Devils punch in there the third touchdown
of the game, lead twenty one to ten over UW
player with one to twelve left to go in the
second quarter. Blue Devil's going in for their first drive,
first drive for anybody, first touchdown into the wind of
this game and eleven play. Seventy five yard drive took
just under five minutes, four fifty six off the flock
and Stout now leads twenty one to ten over UW.
(01:32:21):
O Claire stats look like this. Stout with one hundred
and eight eight yards of total offense. OH Claire with
one hundred and twenty five. Adam Ohen is three for
eight for eighty yards, but he has also run for
fifty seven. He has been good on the ground. Chandler
Ross with thirty two yards on the ground end a
touchdown as well. Here comes the kick from Jackman to
the near side. It'll be taken at the three. That's
(01:32:42):
a great kick into the win for Jackman running to
the twenties. Got a hole near side, taken down from behind.
Both those out and it goes out of bounds a
strip on the play. There's also a blue devil down
on the field. The returner for oh Claire as well,
in Rothmeyer, is down. So two guys down, one for
each each team. Rothmeyer lost it out of bounds. I
(01:33:02):
mean that ball flew into the air and went onto
the blue Gold sideline. It'll go back to where the
ball was fumbled.
Speaker 15 (01:33:08):
I believe there's a bumble forward out of bounds.
Speaker 17 (01:33:10):
The ball we played at the spawn of fumble time
out for an injury to both the offense and the defense.
Speaker 15 (01:33:16):
Set to play box forty seconds, so.
Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
One O six left to play in the second quarter.
The Blue Devil who is down is grabbing his knee,
bigger guy trying to see who it is over there.
A returner in Rothmeyer is up and walking to the sideline.
Seems like he is okay for the Blue Golds. Blue
Devils have been banged up in this game, no doubt.
I've seen a lot of guys go down, and it
didn't look like in this first half they were cramps, right.
(01:33:39):
You imagine in the second half, especially after you know
the time we're going to get here at halftime guys
coming back out, that you're going to see some cramping
for both these teams. With how hot it is. Is
just kind of assume that's going to happen. One O
six to go here in the second quarter, and the
Blue Devil still down at about the twenty five yard line.
The ball is gonna be placed at the thirty two,
So you got a minute six one time out for
(01:34:00):
O Claire to march it downfield. Now they got again
the wind at their back, so you know you don't
have to get too far to get into field goal range.
You would imagine here for o Claire working the right
leg out of the player for the Blue Devils, who
is down at the moment, Oh Claire with her apartment stout.
With three rushing touchdowns, one from Ross, one from Hughes
and one from Adam Mohen on that nine yard gain,
(01:34:22):
they might have given that second touchdown to Ross in
the stat system, So I imagine that'll get changed here
at halftime and we'll get what that's updated on. So
Mowen with nine yard chet, I think he's up to
sixty six yards rushing in this game if I do
in the math right, figure out how they're gonna get
this Blue Devil off the field. He is not getting
up and Clay Birmingham's out there to help him as well.
(01:34:45):
Everybody taking a knee on the Blue Devils sideline. Blue
Devils have a lot of their guys who don't travel
on the road here because of course it's only a
thirty minute drive down nine ninety four, hence the war
on ninety four. They're gonna get some lineman over to
help take the Blue Devil off the field. Clay Birmingham.
(01:35:07):
Not often that you see him in the shorts look,
but on an eighty five degree day he went with
the gray Adidas Schwortz. The Blue Devil down is number
thirty six, Isaiah Gyron, Menomine Mustang. They're gonna take him
straight to the locker room. So they're gonna take him
to the Blue Gold sideline and he's having a hard
(01:35:28):
time walking off. But any weight on that leg, my
right leg. Hopefully Gyron is all right. I don't imagine
we'll see him again. Is not on the too deep.
He just plays on special teams at the moment and
Blue Gold to make a nice tunnel for him to
go off to the locker room. Here, it's all part
of the grand stand here on the near side of
Carson Park, the north side of the field, and we
(01:35:54):
are ready for play. So the Blue Gold is trying
to get a score before the end of the half.
One oh six left to go. Second quarter stout twenty
one oh Claire ten back to pass is Helder. Helder
with a screenplay out to the left, fighting through the
blocks and stopping him there the singer on the initial
stop help coming on the play as well from Byrol
on the catch made by Rothmeyer. He's gonna lose a
few back to the twenty nine yard line, the three
(01:36:16):
yard loss. Oh Claire wants to go quick. Interestingly enough,
forty eight seconds left here on the quarter. A pass
out to the left that's incomplete to Rothmeyron.
Speaker 17 (01:36:23):
Just like that.
Speaker 3 (01:36:24):
Stouts got two timeouts only a few seconds, taking off
the clock. Forty four seconds left here in the half.
I mean, you don't get a first down here, and
all of a sudden, Salt might be thinking about scoring
themselves getting the ball back. Two rough plays here for
the Blue Golds here at the end of the half,
twenty one to ten Stout forty four seconds remain here
in the second quarter, it's third and thirteen for back
(01:36:47):
of their twenty nine yard line. Here for oh Claire.
Two receivers so the right one to the left again
Rothmeyer is a tailback Helder in the shotgun formation on
the near hash mark at the twenty nine. Helder fakes
the handoff back to passer, comes the pressure he's hit
as he throws, launching this one up intercepted at the
forty yard line by Dawson Goodman for the return to
the fifty, he's to the forty five of the Oa
Claire to the forty and he's run out of bounds
(01:37:07):
here the thirty five yard line. The late flag coming in,
a very very late flag at the forty yard line.
Maybe a block hair of some kind by Stout, but
this is definitely gonna be a good interception. It's a
matter of what happened on the return. I think the
quarterback Helder as well, was hit on the play by
(01:37:28):
Hunter Scape in return holding.
Speaker 15 (01:37:31):
Scout number forty three, ten yards from the spot to
follow first.
Speaker 3 (01:37:35):
The hold was downfield at the thirty eight yard line,
so that's gonna put it at the forty eighth, but
it's still going to be in Oa Claire territory, so
market back to the forty eight yard line of oh Claire.
The hold was downfield. Helder is going to come off
under his own power after Scape just absolutely lit him
up on that interception. Goodman with his second interception of
(01:37:56):
the season, Stout with their sixth interception as a team
of the season, and with thirty one seconds remaining, Scouts
got it at the EAU Claire forty eight yard line,
twenty one to ten South Leeds and a two time outs.
Plenty of time to go down and get some points
here for Stout. Adam Mowen comes out in the shotgun.
He's got his receiver, Jojo James, the speedy freshman to
(01:38:20):
his left as a tailback. Two receivers out to the right.
James goes in motion. He'll line up as a receiver.
Now efty backfield from Mowing at the forty eight of
the Blue Golds takes the snap Mowing looking over the middle,
and a whistle and a ball start on Stout. Reset
the clock back up to thirty three.
Speaker 15 (01:38:37):
Bunt start offense number one. I got Cuntley first.
Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
Down, Demante Evans getting the.
Speaker 15 (01:38:43):
Play a game box with thirty one seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
Thirty one thirty one, thirty three wasn't now Maybe it
was thirty one all right, So they'll put thirty one
back up there. So the American back now in the
Stout territory to the forty seven. It'll be first and
five here for the Blue Devils. The pass was throwing
out to one of the backup receivers for Stout on
that play in Charlie klist tight end out of Medford,
(01:39:07):
and I was gonna send Jojo James out to the
left side, same formation. Two receivers right now, one to
the left, mowing to pass, four man rush looking over
the middle. Catch made again, that is Heist out there.
He gets to the forty five of the bluegles a whistle,
they'll stop the block. I think Stout is taking a
time out here. Indeed they are twenty six seconds remain
here in the second quarter. That catch made up to
(01:39:30):
the forty four yard line is going to bring up
a second and six. So a nine yard gain on
the play out to Charlie Kleist, sophomore from Medford, first
catch of the season for him, third tight end on
the list behind Frank and Fillin. Fillin had a touchdown
two weeks ago.
Speaker 15 (01:39:46):
Direction Stout second time out to the half, so.
Speaker 3 (01:39:50):
Both teams have one timeout remaining. It's twenty one to ten.
Stout with the lead here on o'claire again. Halftime coming up.
Dalton Mondo, the oak Claire North graduate and Stout starting
right tackle, will be our guest at halftime. Looking forward
to that. It is a deep crew here today. I'll
(01:40:13):
tell you what standing room only, and the standing room
is four or five rows deep all the way around
the stadium. It is impressive. Lots of folks out here
at Carson Park today. So one time out remaining for
stout as second and seven, twenty six seconds remain in
the half. Two receivers right, one to the left here
for Mowen. Mowen sends Hughes' tailback in motion. He'll motion
out to the right. Mowen takes a snap, looks left. Nothing.
(01:40:36):
They're gonna roll to his right, looking downfield toward Carter.
He was there. He's gonna run with it instead toward
the sideline. He gets out of bounds near the forty
would be about a three maybe a four yard game.
They're gonna mark about up the forty one, so a
three yard gain and it'll be third and four with
eighteen seconds remaining in the second quarter. Stout twenty one.
Oh Claire ten. I don't think Oh Claire really cares
to stop the clock here on a on a not conversion,
(01:41:00):
and some weird stuff could happen, I suppose on special teams.
So we'll see what they decide to do. A couple
of new players here, Dawson Ferra coming into the game
at receiver. They'll split out Wine right with Keon Maggott
and then you've got Evans wide left, Aaron Williams and
Carter in the slot to the left. Five receivers set
here for Stout. Third and three. Mowing back to pass,
(01:41:22):
looks over the middle. The catch made by Williams to
the thirty and he's down near the twenty five yard line.
Twelve seconds remainer in the second corn they stopped the
clock to move the chains, and I think, yeah, Stout,
I thought was going to take a time out. They're not.
They wind the clock eleven ten up to the line
comes Mow and he spikes it with eight seconds remaining
here in the half. So eight seconds remaining, you got
(01:41:43):
a timeout. So the open I mean the middle of
the field is open. Another one where you probably go
over the middle here, try to get it a little
closer for Garrison Jackman for a field goal attempt, or
maybe you'll get lucky break it and get into the
end zone. Stout's got to get the play in here quickly,
and no time out taken here, So twenty two seconds
left on the play clock. Still a five receiver set
(01:42:04):
three to the left, two to the right ball nearer
the near hash mark eight seconds remain in the half,
a whistle time out taken by the Blue Golds here
after they saw the five receiver set four stouts, so
that's their final time out of the half stout leading
twenty one to ten here over the Blue Golds and
again with the win. I mean, Jackman going to be
(01:42:25):
real close to field goal range right here this ye're
talking about a forty four yard attempt if you don't
lose anything and don't gain anything, and so you'd like
at least another ten yards. I think you're thinking about
a thirty five yard or less to feel confident about
a field goal coming up from Jackman. And Jack Ben's
(01:42:46):
ready to go. He just got his last warm up
kick in and they're trying to bring him down to
the the right side of the field so that he's
ready to get on the field for a field goal
attempt coming up. The band is ready to go. He
always put on a great halftime show. How about this,
there's people sitting in the third base side bleachers on
(01:43:06):
the baseball stadium to watch the game from out there
because of how deep all the standing room only is.
How about that don't see that too often. This place
is absolutely packed. See what the announced attendance is, but
I'm guessing at least seven thousand here, crazy all right?
Twenty one ten stout Eight seconds remain in the second quarter.
Adam Owens got it on a second and ten from
(01:43:27):
the blue goal twenty seven yard line. Three receivers left,
two to the right, empty backfield. The Blue goals will
rush three. It looks like yes they will. Mowen looks right,
throws catch may going down immediately and a timeout taken
with three seconds remaining as a catch is made out
by Dawson Fara, and so it'll be a Garrison Jackman
(01:43:48):
field goal attempts. Let's see about a three yard gain
on that. So you're talking about about a forty one
yard or into the wind. So we'll see what Jackman's got.
He is one for two kicking field goals this season.
He has not attempted a field goal over thirty yards
yet this year, so has not attempt at a forty
one yard or this will be his first chance. The
(01:44:14):
wind is again blowing into him, and it's probably pushing
the ball a little bit to the right as well.
The wind is out of the southwest, mainly out of
the west, but a little bit out of the south
as well. So the ball is you know, if he
puts a little hook on it, he can kind of
hook it into the wind. If you're a golfer out there,
you get a little bit of a sense of what
is going on there. But the ball is gonna get
pushed a touch to the right as well in addition
(01:44:35):
to being into the wind. So this is a forty
one yarder. Mowen is the holder again, the snapper is
Matt Larson from the near hash mark into the wind,
a forty one yard attempt. This will be the final
play of the half. Snap spot, Oh, it's a bad snap.
The kick is down and it is blocked and Scout's
just gonna fall on it and that'll be the end
(01:44:57):
of the half. It was a bad snap. That is
a second bat snap we have seen by the Blue
Devils snapper and Matt Larson. You wonder if they might
go to the backup long snapper because that is a
second bad snap and Moen just had a hard time
getting the pulled down for Jackman. So the Blue Devils
will get the ball to start the second half. So
that police is a good thing for Stout see if
(01:45:17):
they're going into or again. So my guess is that
Oaklaer will make them go into the win in the
third quarter to make sure they keep this game close.
Twenty one to ten. Our halftime score will go through
the SATs in just a few moments after what did
we say, Dan A two three minute break? Whatever we said,
Do that and we'll come back here in a second
here on your home for Blue Devils Football.

Speaker 1 (01:45:50):

Speaker 11 (01:45:51):
The fact that Verizon spends twelve billion dollars a year

Peer Talk doesn't spend that kind of mone money on commercials.

This is UW Stout Football on newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 14 (01:47:55):
HI.
Speaker 3 (01:47:55):
Welcome back in here to UW Clarata, Carson Park. It
is a twenty one to ten lead for Stout at halftime,
the Google Marching Band taking the field, the largest marching
band of its kind in the Midwest, over five hundred
members part.
Speaker 14 (01:48:10):
Of this man.
Speaker 3 (01:48:10):
You're gonna get a chance to hear a little bit
of them here as we go through some of the
halftime stats. Stout with twelve first downs and OA Player
with thirteen. And it's probably fitting that when the Life
of a show Girl just came out for Taylor Swift,
they got a Taylor Swift medley playing here for the
Blue goals as well, so the twelve first downs for
(01:48:30):
the Blue Devils thirteen for oak Claire, but Stout is
out gained O Claire two sixteen to one twenty two
in the first half. Oaklair got just fourteen yards rushing
in the first half. Stout with one hundred and eleven
yards on the ground as well. For that, the penalty
is the biggest problem. If Stout cuts of penalties out
they win this game. I mean they're probably up by
three four scores. In that case, they had eight penalties
(01:48:52):
for eighty nine yards in that first half and just
one penalty for fifteen yards in the second half or
in the eu Claire I should say, in the first
half as well. The individual stats look like this. Helder
went eleven of nineteen with one interception, no touchdowns, eight
hundred yards through the area, was sacked once. Adam Owen
six of twelve for of the Blue Devils one hundred
(01:49:14):
and five yards through the air, no touchdowns, no interceptions. However,
Adam Owen did get sixty nine yards on the ground
and a touchdown. Chandler Ross thirty yards on the ground
nine yards for Hughes. Each of those three guys with
a rushing touchdown. In that first half. There are six
different receivers who caught a ball for Stout, but only once.
(01:49:36):
Averon Carter won for fifty five, Hughes one for fourteen,
Williams one for fourteen, maggott is one for eleven, Plice
one for eight, and Fara one for three. Devonte Evans
does not have a catch in that first half. On
the other side, for the Bluegolds, they are led in
receiving by Matt Kucai Kucai with three thirty seven yards
(01:50:01):
on three receptions, thirty six yards for a yat Chewl
on two receptions four receptions for roth Meyer in the
screen game with twenty two yards as well. That's where
he set up at halftime real quickly. Let's get to
the scores from around the league before we send it
to our halftime interview. Plattville leading twenty four to nothing
over Stevens Point, it is Oshkosh leading fourteen to seven
(01:50:21):
over River Falls, and Whitewater leading seventeen to nothing over Lacross.
All those games are at halftime as well. We take
a break when we come back. Dalton Mondo, the starting
right tackle for the Blue Doubles, An Oak Claire North
graduate talks about this rivalry, what he knew about it
in high school, and how excited he is to play
in it here today. All that coming up right after this,
it's halftime, It's Stout twenty one. It's Oak Claire ten

at halftime of the War on ninety four, right here
on your home for Blue Double Football.

of O Claire Versus Stout The War on ninety four.
Dalt Mondo, appreciate you taking the time with us here
and r Let's talk a little bit about the season
playing on the offensive line.
Speaker 10 (01:52:59):
For the Blue Devils.
Speaker 3 (01:53:01):
You guys, you know, through three games a little bit
banged up, But what's it been like getting to, you know,
play with these guys. You've had a few new guys
kind of new faces into that line as well. But
what's it been like in your sophomore season getting a
chance to start on that right side of the line.
Speaker 32 (01:53:15):
You know, It's been really great. I mean I feel
like I've been doing really good this year. I mean
I got a few games last year started, but yeah,
really getting into it this year with besides the last game,
but every game been starting here, so been really good
season so far from me.
Speaker 10 (01:53:31):
I mean yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (01:53:34):
Mean, you know, you've got to obviously a really great
quarterback in Adam ohen there talk a little bit about
what he does to you know, make sure you guys
know your blocking assignments and all that. It seems like
he's made some big steps from last year to this
year in terms of being able to make sure that
he communicates well with you guys and knows what he
needs at least when he's going back to pass.
Speaker 10 (01:53:52):
What's that communication been like with him? I mean, he's
doing great back there.
Speaker 32 (01:53:56):
I mean, you knows thectually, what hole he's got to
hit or if he needs to get out of the
pocket whenever. Like, he's doing great with all of that.
If something's going wrong, he can tell it right away,
and he's great with moving and he is a great playmaker. Yeah,
I mean he can run it as well.
Speaker 15 (01:54:12):
I mean, is that how is that?
Speaker 3 (01:54:13):
You know, as a as a lineman when you got
a guy back there who you know, obviously you design
runs for Adam Mohne. But there's a lot of times
where he kind of goes off script a little bit
and you know, we'll scramble and do that. Is does
that provide a challenge? Is it exciting? Is it fun
knowing that he could take off at any time.
Speaker 32 (01:54:31):
I would say it's a great feeling knowing that he
can get moving, because obviously not every time you're not
gonna have a great block. But if you know a
guy in the backfield able to get moving when he
needs to, I mean, that's a difference from taking a
loss of yards and game five.
Speaker 10 (01:54:45):
So it's a great feeling having them back there. Delmondo
joining us here at halftime.
Speaker 3 (01:54:51):
I think the coach Birmingham was maybe looking for the
first you know Oaklare North Memorial Grand he could find
it before before this game. As a Husky, you know,
I'm sure you kind of hear about maybe maybe you
went to some of the games, you know, the War
on ninety four games back when you were in high
school or maybe middle school as well. But as a
kid going to high school, you know Claire at o'claire North,
(01:55:12):
what do you what did you know when you were
in high school about this rivalry or what were the
experiences you had with knowing a little bit about you know,
the Stout versus Oak Claire rivalry.
Speaker 10 (01:55:23):
Truly before I didn't really know that it was the
rival team.
Speaker 32 (01:55:26):
I mean I've heard of it, but never truly looked
at it as like a big rivalry until I came
here to Stoat. But now that I'm here, obviously I
can tell it's a big difference from playing Dolmens other
teams or whatever. It's it's a big war obviously, So
it's a great feeling.
Speaker 3 (01:55:44):
I'd imagine too for you. I mean, o'claire North has
some great rivalry matchups. You know when they were in
the big Rivers and you know some of the playing
Menominee as well. But think about you know, maybe some
of those games against Memorial and whatnot. I mean, you know,
it's a different level when you're playing in those rivalries.
What's it like, Yeah, maybe go back to your high
school day, is to playing in those Crosstown showdown matchups
with the old Apes.
Speaker 10 (01:56:05):
I mean, it was always fun against the old Abes.
Speaker 32 (01:56:07):
I mean, I feel like there's always a big difference
between Crosstown and blah blah blah.
Speaker 10 (01:56:11):
It's just it's a great feeling when you got to
go against those guys, just because most time you know
those guys.
Speaker 32 (01:56:17):
Are Obviously I grew up with those guys when I
was playing them, so it's just like you knew most
of the guys on the team and when you're going
against them just kind of like in that moment, it's
just like, I'm not your friend, but I'm here to win.
So it's obviously a big difference going those crosstown games
or big rival where he's like those.
Speaker 3 (01:56:34):
And del Mondo is starting offensive lineman for the Blue Devils,
joining here with us here at halftime. A couple more
questions for you, and I'll just ask kind of you know, obviously,
the goal for your team is to you know, win
the YAC, to play well in the YAK and beat
the teams that you do. But fe you personally is again,
you're just a sophomore, so you still got plenty of
time here at style. What's your big goal? What do
you really want to improve on in your personal game
(01:56:57):
by the time this season is over? Truly, I mean
I can improve everything. I mean there's no way you
can be the best, truly. I mean there's always spots
you can improve. So, I mean I wish I could
improve everything this year, just footwork, steps, everything, just better punch,
all of that.
Speaker 10 (01:57:15):
I want to improve it all.
Speaker 3 (01:57:18):
So it's been fun to watch, for sure. I know
you're a mechanical engineer engineering major. And I know it's
just a sophomore. You might might not be thinking about
this too much. But you know, obviously you go to
Stout for that major. Tell us kind of what the
plan is with that major, what the programs like, and
what you plan to do, if you have any ideas
or plan what you're going to do once you graduate
here in a few years.
Speaker 32 (01:57:39):
Truly, I'm not quite sure where I want to go
with it. I mean, obviously, I know it's a great program.
I love how it's more of a hands on school
here at Stough, So I love that. That was another
big reason I came here just Stoll. It was because
it's a great program and I'm a really big hands
on learner.
Speaker 3 (01:57:53):
So yeah, all right, awesome, Well it's gonna be fun.
You'll be right back, right back home, right back at Carson,
back when you guys used to went back when the
Huskies used to play at Carson as well. So that's
a good thing, and it should be a lot of
fun to watch you here back on your old stomping ground.
Appreciate you taking the time, Dalton, and then die.
Speaker 9 (01:58:11):
Good luck you.
Speaker 11 (01:58:12):

Eq helly welcoming back in here to Carson Park halftime
show is pretty much over here. For all the Blue
Golds festivities. They've got the Hall of Fame, the BlueGold
Hall of Fame crew that's being inducted here today, a
lot of names I'm sure you're familiar with there, and
(02:02:41):
big celebration. I mean, there is so much going on
in o'claire today for homecoming again homecoming for the Blue
Golds Day parade at ten o'clock, at a big, big
tailgate at eleven o'clock here as well. They've got a
concert coming up from Uncommon Denominator, one of the great
local cover bands here in Ea Claire, and then Vanilla
Ice Contre later tonight at the Sanatag at seven thirty.
(02:03:03):
It's twenty one to ten though here Stout with the
lead on Oh Claire. Stout's gonna get the ball to
start the second half. Oh Claire will be kicking with
the win for the third, going with the win for
the third, I do believe, and celt will be going
into the win and the third. They'll have the win
at their back in the fourth quarter, I would imagine.
I don't think you can really not have the win
that you're back if you're a player in the third
(02:03:25):
you got to keep this thing close. We saw Stout
just march it right down the field with the win
at their back in that first half, so we'll see
how it all works out. Though here in the second
we talked a little bit about the stats already, with
Stout up twenty one to ten Paran o'claire at halftime.
Other matchups for Stout Athletics today, women's tennis is taking
on river Falls. They started about forty five minutes ago
(02:03:46):
against River Falls in Menominee, so you can go check
that out as well. Soccer women soccer is playing at
Nelson Field in about fifteen minutes. They will play Platteville
today and men's soccer is at Simpson Field here in
o'claire at seven, so you can check out some soccer.
You could go see Vanilla Ice. You do plenty here
in Oak Blair today as well, so it should be
(02:04:08):
a good one here in the second half. The Blue
Devils out gaining Oaklayer by about one hundred yards in
that first half two sixteen to one, twenty two in
favor of Stout and again looking for their tenth straight
win in this rivalry series. Oaklaiir is not once since
twenty fourteen, the trophy the first time I think I've
(02:04:28):
ever seen it where the Blue Devils brought the trophy
onto the field before the game as part of their
kind of you know, everybody coming on the field at
the same time type of deal. Usually they just place
it in the end zone when they get here, but
they brought it onto the field and it's right behind
the goalposts at the end to our right. And it's
interesting because that was the exact spot back in twenty nineteen,
right before COVID broke and all that sort of thing,
(02:04:51):
when Alex Benzinger, when the kicker for the Blue Devils
at the time, was doing warm up kicks and one
of his warm up kicks went through the uprights and
it's act straight into the trophy and that split the
trophy in two. And luckily, a construction major and backup
quarterback Jay Dan Sturgeon was on the team and a
woodworker in one of his hobbies, he decided to put
(02:05:11):
it back together. And if you take a look at
the trophy now, and you can see in some of
the pictures of the Leader Telegram articles and other places online,
you can see the big crack down the middle that year.
They celebrated with two pieces of trophy in the end
zone that season and it's been back together since now.
There's other interesting parts of the trophy as well. There's
a story kind of going around here between Stout and
(02:05:32):
o'claire that o claire built the new Sonontag Center and
when they built it, they wanted to build a trophy
case for the War On ninety four trophy, So they
were actually in contact with Stout at least, callings Out saying, Hey,
how big is that trophy? We haven't had it in
a long time. We want to make sure we build
a trophy case that is appropriate for it, and as Stout,
as you might imagine, responded with the heck with you,
(02:05:54):
you can figure that out when you get the trophy.
But I think that a little extra motivation here for
the Blue Devils today. And there's plenty of things as well.
There's been signs going around campus at UW claire saying
when in doubt we beat Stout and that sort of thing,
which I think is added to the rivalry. Stout knowing
plenty about that, and as Coach talked about in the
pregame show, we've kind of had to tamp down the expectations.
(02:06:16):
Stout was so amped up coming into this game, and
I think that might be one of the reasons why
they've got eighty nine yards of penalties on eight penalties
in that first half. They need to clean those up.
They clean those up. They should very I think, easily
go on to a win today. But if they don't,
that's gonna keep o'claire around. And you never know is
here comes a run up and here we go for
the second half, ready to go. Stout up twenty one
(02:06:37):
to ten. Evans from the two yard line, brings it
up to the fifteen to the far side. He's trying
to make a remove and you get spiked down at
the fifteen yard line. Davonte Evans wrapped up. Want to
play by the Blue Gold special teams unit as the
tackle was made by Jake Gregorio. Return and Stout with terrible,
terrible field position to start here in the fifteen yard
(02:06:59):
line and going in the wind. Now, they moved the
ball pretty well in the last two drives of that
half into the wind, including a touchdown on that Adam
Owen scamper. So we'll see if they're able to do
the same thing here as well. It's Adam Owen in
the shotgun with two receivers to the right and Chandler
Ross the tailback. And I'd imagine with the lead and
into the win here in the third quarter, there's gonna
be a lot of run in the football. At least
(02:07:20):
that's what I'd be doing if I was the Blue Devils.
And indeed, they're gonna hand it off to Ross Ross
a big hole right side, and he just lowers the
shoulder and bangs it up to the nineteen yard line.
Four yard play on the run to the right. Yanny
kinda Lacus with the tackle, and that'll bring up second
in six here for the Blue Devils. From their own
nineteen yard line. Ross goes out, the Blue Devils will
(02:07:40):
go with an empty backfield that looks like and it'll
be second and six here for Stout. Early third quarter,
twenty one to ten, Blue Devils, with the lead on
the Blue Goals, blapp Fill up twenty four to nothing
on Stevens Point, osh Gosh up fourteen to ten on
River Falls, Whitewater up seventeen to nothing on the US.
All those games early third quarter, mowing in the shotgun,
(02:08:03):
empty backfield. Here comes the pressure from the bluegles. He
rolls left. Now he's gonna step up. He runs, makes
a nice cut to the twenty. It's to the fifteen,
to the twenty five, excuse me, and he's up close
to the thirty yard line as he ducks under a tackle,
gets it up to the twenty nine yard line. That's
a ten yard run. Mowen with a great cut, kind
of used the umpire a little bit. There is almost
an extra blocker cutting around him, and now DeVante Evans
(02:08:25):
not lined up right. Stout wants to go quickly and
he's got to get over the left side of the field.
Three receivers on that side. Mowen wanting the snap, he
looks left. Now he's gonna run right and he will
follow some blockers to the thirty five. His helmet comes
off and they blow it dead at the thirty eight
yard line. Somebody just popped his helmet off and he
kept running anyway. They're gonna say his helmet came off
back at the thirty six, even though he got probably
(02:08:46):
an extra three or four yards from there.
Speaker 15 (02:08:48):
Came off. Bob plays where the came off at the
thirty five.
Speaker 3 (02:08:52):
So it's a six yard run. Probably should have been
a nine yard run, and Mowen's got to come out,
and so that's gonna bring in Luke s Dean the
backup here for a play, and I'd imagine this is
just going to be a handoff. Your hand off to
Hughes and you let Mowen get back out there. No
need to throw into the win with Luke Sadeen. Sadein,
of course, the brother of Justin Sadeen, who played some
(02:09:12):
North Woods League ball right on the baseball field across
the way. Here goes the handoff to Hughes up the gut.
He's got the first down and more across the forty
yard line and up near the forty two maybe the
forty three stout. There's a Blue Devil who might have
been injured on the play as well. Offensive lineman there
for stout out at their own forty two. It seems
to be okay now as he's a slowly gingerly coming
(02:09:34):
to the line. That's Andrew David who's into the game
on the line at the right guard spot. William Nordstrom
not in there at the moment. Special thanks to delt Mondo,
the right tackle is still in the game. Our halftime show.
That run to the right for Hughes gets the forty
two yard line, a first down for the Blue Devils.
Thirteen oh one left to play here in quarter number three,
Stout twenty one Oh Claire ten and Stout starting off
(02:09:56):
with the ball here in the second half, one receiver right,
one left Mowen will take the snap hand off to
Hughes up the gut. He's gonna just keep turning, keep
turning it up toast a fifty yard line and up
near the forty nine of Oh Claire. That's a nine
yard gain, except there is a flag on the play.
This is either gonna be an illegal formation or off side.
Speaker 17 (02:10:15):
Oh my gosh, okay, what five players lining up in
the back field five yard penalty talk about?
Speaker 3 (02:10:20):
I mean Stout has just shot themselves in the foot
all game long with penalties, and I got to imagine
that Clay Birmingham is going to just be livid in
film study with the penalty situation here in this game.
So now instead of second and one, it's gonna be
first in fifteen for Stout. Is that erases a nine
yard gain and backs Blue Devil's up five yards. So
(02:10:42):
you can net about what fourteen yard negative there per Stout.
After that penalty, Ross is now the tailback off to
the left of mowing In the shotgun. Two receivers left,
two tight ends right, twelve twenty five left to go.
Third quarter Stout twenty one Oh Claire ten first and
fifteen handoff to Ross. Ross has not to the right side.
He's going to get a couple out to the thirty
(02:11:02):
nine yard line running right, just ran right into Kegan Christie,
who makes the tackle. It's a two yard game. It's
second and thirteen. Ross just had nothing to that right side.
And again, I don't hate the idea of trying to
burn a bunch of clock in this third quarter until
you get the wind at your back and keep the
ball on the ground. But at some point it looks
like they might have to pass here, especially with that
penalty that set them back behind the chains. Second and
(02:11:25):
thirteen from their own thirty nine yard line on the
near hash Mark Mowen in the shotgun. He's got Hughes
and the pistol behind him. One receiver to the left,
one to the right, and now Hughes is going to
split out as a receiver out on the left side.
Empty backfield from Owen. Mowen takes the snap, rolls to
his left, looking downfield. They got Evans down the field.
It's caught across the fifty yard line, his first catch
(02:11:45):
of the game and he's out of bounds with the
first down into oak layer territory to the forty seven
yard line. Fourteen yard game, first down and Evans gets
opening the soft spot in the zone on the far sideline.
Eleven twenty left to play. Third quarter stout twenty one
Oh Claire ten Blue Devils to the line. Want to
go quickly pistol formation with Hughes behind Mowen from the
(02:12:06):
far hashmark moving left to right. Handoff goes to Hughes
right up the gut to the forty five. He gets
smacked down at the forty four yard line. Big hit.
Ne're put on by Deshaun Seger, the strong safety out
of the back of that defense. A three yard gain
up the gut. It's second in seven, second in seven
from the forty four yard line here for the Blue Doubles.
Speaker 15 (02:12:24):
Forty four second and it's been.
Speaker 3 (02:12:26):
A back and forth with Ross and Hughes, in and out,
in and out they go, and trying to just preserve
the legs with this heat, this humidity eighty six degrees
right now, the humidity probably making it feel like it's
up around ninety on an early October day, which is
absolutely crazy. Ten thirty five left to play in the
third quarter Stout twenty one, Oak Claire ten second and
(02:12:47):
seven from the Oak Claire forty four for Stout. Mowen
under center. He goes to hand it off to Ross. No,
they're gonna try to throw this one deep. Evans is
wide open down the middle.
Speaker 4 (02:12:55):
It's up, It's caught, touchdown, Blue Devils.
Speaker 3 (02:12:59):
Davonte Evans with a forty four yard touchdown reception. Oh
Claire lost them behind the defense and Stout scores. It's
twenty seven to ten. Ten twenty two remains here in
the third quarter. DeVante Evans with his third touchdown reception
and the Blue Devils up by seventeen and an extra
(02:13:22):
point pending here from Garrison Jackman. DeVante Evans finally getting loose,
getting open after a rough first half with no touch
or no receptions for him. Here's a kick, not a
great one, but it's gonna find its way through. From Jackman.
It's twenty eight to ten. Stout ten twenty two left
and the third. We're back after this. You're on your
home for bo double football.
Speaker 21 (02:13:42):

This is UW Stout football on News Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (02:14:23):
A nine play, eighty five yard drive for Stout ends
on a forty four yard touchdown reception for Devonte Evans,
and the Blue Doubles now lead twenty eight to ten
over Uwoclaire with ten twenty two left to play in
the third quarter and Stout taking up four minutes and
thirty eight seconds on that drive. The student section, interestingly enough,
(02:14:43):
is kind of thinned out a bit. I'm sure the
sun probably having something to do with that. But it's
one of those days where it's a big crowd in
that first half and they thinned out a touch not
a ton. This is a very very packed house. As
that kick is going to go through the back of
the end zone into the wind from Garrison Jackman. How
about that for a boot Deacons kick going the end
(02:15:03):
zone goals twenty five yard line for Eau Claire. Their
first drive of the second half about to come your way.
Stout after that drive. Now is dominating in the offensive
stats and they are up to three hundred and six
yards of offense to the one hundred and twenty two
of the Blue Golds. Adam Owen now with eight of
fourteen passing for one hundred and sixty three yards and
(02:15:26):
a touchdown. Mowen also has a touchdown on the ground,
which will be corrected. I'm sure they've got it accredited
to Chandler Ross, but he's only got one as it is.
Helder in the shotgun formation, awaits some motion. Two receivers
out to the right, one to the left, fakes the handoff,
looks over the middle, there's nothing there. Helder now will
throw it off. Catch made at the thirty and taking
down in about the thirty one yard line by Brooks Brewer,
(02:15:47):
goes Nick Keane. A nice play there by Brewer in
the open field, but across the thirty to the thirty
one gives him a six yard gain. A second and
four stout by forty three Cole Singer. Yeah, that was
Brooks Brewer who made that tapir well done, even though
they gave the credit to Sanger on the PA. Dave
Hanson a staple of UW Claire PA announcing. Always great
(02:16:09):
to see Dave here at the ball game. Three receivers,
so the right one to the left back to pass
goes Helder over the middle, a little bit of contact.
The at Schule wanted contact, but it was so close
to the line on side he kind of ran right
into him side hell didn't really have anywhere to go.
He gets to stand there, didn't really create the contact.
It's incomplete third and four and Rob Erickson's in the
(02:16:30):
air of the officials, and never a good sign when
you're starting to argue with the officials here this early,
trying to get an extra couple of yards. It's from
where I think you just need to go back and
find another play Mason Suliman now the receiver out to
the left. Two receivers for me three to the right,
including the tyn end Kolinski shotgun formation for Helder, it's
third and four from the thirty one back to pass
(02:16:51):
stop brings four. They get pressure on him, throw over
the middle, though it's caught. They missed the sack and
the catches made across the forty up to the forty
three yard line. Tackling is Nick Kem He go to
the forty four officially thirteen yards. Stout had the pressure
and they just missed the stack. Got Helder. See who
got into the backfield there? But whoever? Did I think
it might have been sure there? He came right through
(02:17:11):
and just missed the tackle. Just kind of a little
shimmy there from Helder, avoided the hit, got the pass across.
It's a first down to the forty four forty four
of the Blue Golds nine to fourteen to go third
quarter Stout twenty eight oh Claire ten man in motion
is Kolinsky right to left. Across the formation, two receivers
to the left, one to the right. It is a
handoff to the right side, hitting the backfield and dropped
(02:17:31):
for a couple of yard loss on that run by Rothmeyer.
Rothmeyer is gonna lose two back to the forty two
running right. Blue Devils were there and it was sure
again making the tackle there as well a senior outside
linebacker Stout coming up to the line there. Oh Claire
(02:17:54):
was setting ready to go. Blue Devils will try to
get the call from the sideline there from Travis des
dashing company. Two receivers left, one right again once again
held her over the middle on a slant catch made
near the fifty, and it'll be gang tackled at the
forty nine of oh Claire. Will the receiver complete believe
that was keen again to the forty nine a seven
yard game, they get about half of what they need
(02:18:15):
third and about five here for the Blue Golds at
their own forty nine. They need the Stout forty six
for a first down. Eight ten left to play third
quarter Stout twenty eight Oh Claire ten. Two receivers right,
two lefts It was Mason Sullivan with the reception, rather
not Keen back in the shotgun held or awaits to
snap third and five back to pass. Here comes the
(02:18:36):
blitz from Stout A little fader route nearside that is
up and incomplete for Sullivan. Sullivan kind of pulled up.
I wonder if he pulled something there trying to run
to this near sideline. Will it be the punch? I
think it's got to be the punt unit here. I
to get you down eighteen, but you got to win
at your back. Yeah, man, it's tough call. Paul right
at the Oak Claire forty nine yard line and the
(02:18:57):
punt unit is not coming out. This is forty territory.
It looks like for the Blue Golds, Helder is calling
a play and the lou Devil's gonna have to dig
in Blue Devil's sideline. Gonna make some noise. You can
hear them on that far sideline through the win two
receivers left, one right, a little bit of motion here.
Helder awaits the snap hard count, trying to draw them
(02:19:19):
off side with four on the play block. With three,
they're just trying to draw them off side with one.
They're gonna take the penalty. It looks like it will
be a delay a game, and oh, player's gonna punt
buy a game.
Speaker 15 (02:19:31):
Offense number seventeen.
Speaker 3 (02:19:33):
Pagot Kelly come down stout will accept the penalty yardage
as well. Don't want anything cute here, so you'll push
him back to that forty four. And now the punt
unit comes out, Brandon Fisher to putting this one away.
That's the first pun of the game before the Blue Golds.
Interestingly enough, they've either gone for it or they've scored
or turn the ball over. That's been the result of
(02:19:55):
all their drives. Stout looks like they want to bring
some pressure here. Ball marked at the fourenty four. Standing
in his own twenty nine is Fisher and a whistle.
And I think we had some early movement here from
the Blue Golds. Seven fifty four left in the third
and it's a false start, I think on Old Claire.
Let's hear the call from the line judge. He's coming
in in Scott Kepnick to let Chris Gibbs know what's up.
(02:20:19):
No penalty, Okay, why'd you throw it?
Speaker 4 (02:20:22):
Then?
Speaker 3 (02:20:24):
That makes no sense?
Speaker 15 (02:20:26):
No penalty on that.
Speaker 3 (02:20:28):
Avron Carter is back to return for Stout. He's standing
in his own fifteen. The wind is at the back
of the punter here in Fisher. As the wind starts
to blow around our papers, I opened up the door
to get a little wind tunnel going. But now I
gotta make sure everything's anchored down stout looks like they
want to bring the pressure. They will and they do
not get it. A line drive punt. Carter gets it
at the fourteen yard line, backing up, trying to make
(02:20:50):
him move to the fifteen. Oh it breaks a tackle
at the twenty, breaks another tackle twenty five far sign line,
thirty to the thirty five down the sideline, he goes,
and he's pushed out of my house. Here the forty
five there are no flat on the field. A big
time return for a Ron Carter smart dead of mounds
at the forty one yard line. That is a twenty
five yard returner, so maybe a little more than that.
(02:21:11):
It was seven forty to go in the third quarter
of the boot. Levil's got a chance to really turn
the screws here against soau Claire. I don't know if
the door being open is helping our crowd microphone with
the wind or it's hurting it. I have no idea.
Dan Price the wonder receiver out to the right, three
(02:21:31):
ten ends set under center, goes mowing. He's got Ross's
tailback ball at their own forty one. Ross gonna get
the handoff up the gut hits, the line goes to
the forty five, a four yard game, running right stop
made by Henry Kevin. Not before a four yard game.
It's second and six, four Henry Kevin here for Stout.
(02:21:52):
Is there content to run some flock up twenty eight
to ten. It's a weird day right when it's wet
and cold. Typically you think about d and not high
scoring games. Hot you think of high scoring games. But
it's so hot out there, and the wind is blowing
so hard that it almost the weather kind of necessitates
a little bit of ground game here from Stout, second
and six from their own forty five. They fake the
(02:22:13):
handoff to Ross, want to go deep. Mowen has to
step up, gets away from the pressure, launches at deep
for evens it's up.
Speaker 4 (02:22:18):
It's caught at the ten to the five.
Speaker 20 (02:22:20):
Touchdown Blue Devils fifty five yard touchdown passing Devonte Evans
is having himself.
Speaker 3 (02:22:27):
A third quarter folks, Holy cow, fifty five yard touchdown
pass from Mowen to DeVante Evans, and it's thirty four
to ten Stout with six fifty five left in the
third quarter and Stout with two big time throws here
(02:22:49):
in this third quarter. Have the Blue Devils up big
to start the third and they're doing this into the
wind as well. Here is Garrison Jackman on to attempt
the extra point snap spot pick is good. It's thirty
five to ten Stout six fifty five left to go.
Third quarter. There's a couple of people ahead to the exits.
We're back after this. You're on your home for Blue

Speaker 3 (02:23:53):
Welcome back to Carson Park. The Blue Devils once again
showing off their passing game as Adam Oen goes deep
to DeVante for the second time in the third quarter
nine of fifteen passing now for two hundred and eighteen
yards round a moo and two touchdowns as well. Devantae
Evans now with one hundred and thirteen yards receiving and
two touchdowns. It's thirty five to ten Blue Doubles with
the lead six fifty five left to go. Here in
(02:24:15):
the third quarter drive summary four, the Blue Devils looks
like this. They go just two plays fifty five yards
for the touchdown. Pretty simple, and that kick is going
to be at the goal line. Yeah, Schul wants to
return it here to the near side of the ten,
and he slips and goes down right at the ten
yard line, and the old oh clear Regis Rambler, Carson
(02:24:37):
Tate takes him down. He did that a few times
wearing the Kelly green for the Ramblers. And the Blue
Golds are gonna start way back in their own territory
at the eleven yard line.
Speaker 15 (02:24:47):
Eleven.
Speaker 3 (02:24:48):
Now, folks, it's not over yet. There's still twenty two
minutes or so a game time left. But I'm telling
you that the Blue Golds came into this game thinking
this would be the one. It'd be the one to
finally get the trophy back. And this third quarter is
absolutely just crushing the spirits of the blue Golds. Right
now is here is Helder in the shotgun, two receivers right,
(02:25:10):
one left, looking to roll right, looking to throw right.
The catch will be made at the fifteen, turning it
upfield at the twenty and being pushed out of bounds
on the sideline by Gabe. Kramer goes to the receiver
there in Kuchai. He's got the first down and looks like, yeah,
they won't move the chains up to the twenty two
yard line on eleven yard game, just trying to get
out in some space and chunk some plays here at
(02:25:32):
six point thirty three left to play here in the
third quarter, in the clock running thirty five to ten,
stout with the lead on Eau Claire. This place is
cleared out. Since the first half it was packed. He
does not pack nearly as much as it was. Helder
sets up a screen catch made, but it was right
into the arms of a defending tackler. What a play
(02:25:52):
made by Drew Bournes, who is right in front a
Mercado set up for the screen. A massive loss on
that catch. All the way to the fifteen yard line.
That's a seven yard loss on the catch. Poor key Year,
But what a play that was. I think I might
have lost my stout roster there. It went on the
ground here back to pass a deep ball on the
right side end complete, great defense on the right side
(02:26:14):
by Jesse Ellis as they were trying to go to
leave my PULLI on a quick pass off on the
right side, and that is incomplete. It'll bring up third
and long here for the blue goals with five point
fifty two left to play here in the third. A
quick play there, trying to catch Stout sleeping. They come
me sleeping a little bit, trying to find my roster,
(02:26:38):
and sure enough, going for the deep ball and it's incomplete.
On the far sideline. They stack two receivers to the left,
two to the right, back to Pascoes Hellner and the shotgun.
Stout bringing the pressure, throws it deep over the middle.
School makes the catch and he stays on his feet
at the twenty five and then is taking down. He's
gonna be sure to line the game. I about five
six yards. Yeah, School was kind of laid out over
the middle. Hopefully he's okay. He got hit hard and
(02:27:00):
then stayed on his feet, and now he is down
on the turf. Well you that's Chewle trying to give
up everything that he's got for the Blue Golds right now,
the senior from poon Raft.
Speaker 10 (02:27:09):
That's Minnesota, the Blake Bob and a game.
Speaker 3 (02:27:13):
Five thirty five left to play here in the third,
it'll be fourth and about five on at thirteen yard
gain over the middle for Chowl and Chewle is still
down on the far sign in between the hash and
the numbers at the twenty five yard line, and now
he'll walk off under his own power. Just took a deep,
tough hit, too deep in your own territory. I think
(02:27:36):
to go for it. At this point you're at their
own twenty seven yard line. You need the thirty two, yeah,
thirty two for a first down. So it's fourth and
five Toole gonna get checked out on the sideline here
and the punt unit is out for the Blue Goals.
Five thirty five left to go, third quarter stout thirty
five Oa Claire ten still tries to get a win
(02:27:56):
in Week one here of the WYAC season. Back to
return is Carter standing in his own thirty yard line.
It is Fisher two punt standing at his own twelve
five point thirty five to go here in the third
he'll get this punt away. It's a good one high
spiraler carter to the far sideline and he puffs it,
(02:28:17):
picks it up at the forty advances to the forty
five and he is taking out of bounds near the
fifty yard line. No flags on the play. You can,
of course advance them up if you're the guy who
muffed it, And that's what happened, and he got it
up near midfield on a good return four a fron carter.
That ball kind of died. The wind's starting to swirl
a bit now again it's still at the back of
(02:28:39):
the bluegoles, but it's almost blowing more across the field
from the south to the north, kind of into our booth,
which is obviously why you hear all those wind artifacts
on the broadcast here today. But all right, Stout back
after a five point twenty three left to play in
the third quarter, Stout thirty five, Oa Claire ten and
Stout has it at their own forty nine yard line
(02:29:00):
on the far hatch. He'll send him out in motion.
That's the hockey player mcabe Devorak going in motion. They'll
hand it off to Ross running left, has a hole
initially and has taken down across in the Oak Claire
territory near the forty five yard line, churning the legs
for a six yard game on the left side. Twenty
two of the Blue Bolt said, twenty two it looked
like it was twenty eight who made the tackle there
for Oa Claire in Colin boy Aarski, but it wasn't.
(02:29:23):
It was twenty two, that is correct. kJ Obikwelu makes
the tackle backup corner for this Blue Golds team. Stout
sends two tight ends in motion to the left. Two
receivers out to the right far hash mark, second and
four from the Oak Clai forty five yard line. Need
the forty one hand off to Ross. Ross dancing around,
(02:29:45):
has a hole. He's got the first down across the
forty yard line, churning it at the hash mark and
he's up near the thirty seven yard line. Big run there.
Eight yards on the game to the left side. Ryan
Spickerman in on the stop and the Blue Devils move
the chains and they are starting to move the ball
at will. Here at the thirty seven yard line, thirty
five to ten into the win.
Speaker 8 (02:30:03):
They go.
Speaker 3 (02:30:04):
They've had two big passes to about day Evans in
this third quarter for touchdowns. Blue Golds marching band trying
to make some noise, but they have had nothing to
cheer about here in the second half. So that was
up twenty one to ten at halftime. They're up thirty
five to ten. Now four minutes and eight seconds left
to play here in the half, handoff goes to Ross.
Ross dances out on the first tackle, trying to bounce
(02:30:24):
it out.
Speaker 4 (02:30:24):
On the right.
Speaker 3 (02:30:25):
He's still on his feet and then he has pushed backwards.
I tell you what you should get for progress. I
think up at about on the thirty five, but I
think they're going to say he restarted and now back
to the forty one. So it's a four yard loss
for Chandler Ross. Good job breaking tackles, he just couldn't
find the space. A Chandler Ross best out six ft
(02:30:45):
two hundred and twenty pounds. Interesting thing for the Blue
Golds today, and I was shocking with Jed Stutsman, the
running backs coach, first out there. There were so many
recruits here forro Claire. I mean, it went from the
fifty yard line to a goal line down the sideline
in pregame, and I'll tell you the story about that.
In a second two receivers left to right, second and
(02:31:07):
about thirteen here for Stouts. I got a fourteen from
their forty one of o Claire. A fake the handoff
to Hughes, he looks left, he throws it out to left.
Evans gonna make the catch at the thirty five. Dancing
around to the thirty three, maybe the thirty two. He
gets a lot of the yardage back there. It's gonna
ring up third and manageable. So I bring that story
up to say jud Setsman was he said years ago.
(02:31:28):
It was the same thing. A bunch of recruits out
for the Blue Golds program. One of the recruits that
was here was ray Sean Graham, and ray Seon Graham
watched the game. They watched Stout dominate it and decided
to come to Stout instead of go to o'clair even
though he was here to visit o'clare and Rayseon Graham
has gone down as one of the best running backs
in the history of the Stout program, running circles through
(02:31:49):
Oa Clair over the years as well. So it's interesting
with all those recruits here. I wonder what they're thinking.
Was saut up thirty five to ten, two thirty left
to go.
Speaker 8 (02:31:56):
Third quarter?
Speaker 3 (02:31:57):
It's third and five for Stout at the Oak Clayir
thirty two yard line, empty backfield. Mowen looking over the middle.
Nothing there. He's got a step up, he can't. He's
gonna be written down for a sack, a sack by
a drossed back near the original line of scrimmage. There
will be a five yard loss back to the thirty seven. Boy,
you're two. Are you too close to punts? You're definitely
(02:32:18):
not gonna kick a field goal here with the wind
as it is. And now it's fourth and ten from
the oau Claire thirty seven yard line, and I'd imagine
that Stout's gonna have to go for it here. You
could pooch punn it, I suppose as well. With Mohen
that might be the other option. Boy, the warning track
on the baseball field, right in front of the logo
marching man is getting blown around. Looks like a dust storm.
(02:32:40):
Over on the far sideline. Mowen has three receivers, so
the right two to the left. Let's see if he
tries to gonna boot this one poochbunnet, he will not.
He's gonna pass looking over the middle, fourth and ten
steps up to run. He's gonna run with it, looking
for a first down to the thirty to the twenty five.
He's got the first down for the Blue Devils on
(02:33:01):
a thirteen yard scramble all the way down to the
twenty four yard line. One twenty to go, third quarter
and Stout moves the chains on fourth and ten with
a quarterback run and Blue Gold is down after that hit, time.
Speaker 15 (02:33:16):
For injury to the defense for forty seconds.
Speaker 3 (02:33:20):
What a run from Adam Mohen.
Speaker 15 (02:33:22):
We'll starting already.
Speaker 3 (02:33:23):
A ton of Blue Devils players who have made the
trip over from me Nominee again can't officially travel with
the team. Is again you have a traveling roster in
college football. But they are all in their Blue Devil
T shirts on the sideline and they are liking what
they see on that sideline as well. One fifteen to
go here in the third south thirty five, Oh Claire
(02:33:44):
ten Blue Devil down here on the near sideline, and
that man is Larry Bow the senior corner who is
going to be helped off off the field. No cramps yet,
but I'd imagine those are coming here at some point.
Thirty five to ten, fifteen to go the third, So
(02:34:06):
I'm gonna break the huddle after a heck of a
run and a heck of a scramble from Adam Mohen.
Adam Mohen is putting on a show, running and passing
the ball today. Ten of sixteen, passing for two twenty
seven and rushing. He's close to one hundred yards on
the game. Two receivers to the lefts and he's got
Ross who is right the running back first and ten
from the oaklaire of twenty four back to pass, looks left.
(02:34:29):
The entire way is nothing there. He gets away from
the pressure, steps up, wants to run pump fakes to
the twenty five, and he's pushed out of bounds near
the twenty four, maybe the twenty three. Adam on the
carrier only about a yard on the gain on the scramble.
They will mark him out at the twenty or are
they gonna market at the twenty four? So no gain
on the scramble second and ten and I'll not get
(02:34:51):
scored as a sack. It was just a scramble out
and just a no gainer for him. I would imagine
forty five seconds remain here in the third Scout's gonna
have to take one more snap before the fourth quarters.
They move left to right, and then they'll have the
win at their backs for the remainder of this game.
Hughes is the tailback. They're gonna split two receivers right
to left. Ten seconds left on the plate clock. Hugh's
(02:35:12):
off to the left of Mowing in the shotgun second
and ten, takes the hand off, looks over the middle,
steps up from the pressure big lane to run to
the twenty to the fifteen, lowers the shoulder down near
the ten fourteen yard game for Adam Mohen and the
Blue Devils will move the chains. It'll be first end
goal for Stout. When we start the fourth quarter from
(02:35:33):
the ten yard line water run. Adam Owen is just
running circles through this Oa Claire Blue Golds team and
there are a lot of hoots and dollars jeers, and
the Blue Golds look a little bit defeated here on
the sideline looking at their body language. Wow, thirty five
to ten sat with the lead. Fourth quarter, Come on,
(02:35:54):
your way after the break. Right after this here on
your own for blue double clickball.
Speaker 23 (02:35:58):
Crump the kids off at school, hurry the meeting, run
afternoon errands, return to school, then back home. Your days
are way too busy to have to worry about your car.

Now you can get through the day with confidence, maybe

(02:36:20):
friendly and knowledgeable staff. Day's Tyronado is ready to help you.
Visit Day's Tire at ten twelve Martin Road in Bloomer.
Speaker 3 (02:36:27):
Today.
Speaker 1 (02:36:31):
This is UW Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (02:36:39):
Welcome back once again to Carson Park. The Blue Hole
Marching Band is out in force, five hundred strong with
their marching ban and their band has not been able
to distract Stout as they laid thirty five to ten
over u W. Claire. As we get ready to start
the fourth quarter, it's going to be Stout on a
first and goal from the ten yard line, moving with
the wind right to lap toward the east end. Zone
(02:37:02):
at the end to our left. Here from the breast box,
Adam Owen has run rock shot over the Blue Golds.
On this drive. He goes under center, which handler ross's
his tailback. Evans outlined left, Carter outline right, sends his
tight end. Mason frankin motion, fakes a hand up bootlegs
to his left. Mowing looking stops got to get rid
of this one. He looks to throw. It's bumbled. Oh no,
(02:37:22):
bumbled in the.
Speaker 4 (02:37:23):
Scoop and down at the forty yard line.
Speaker 9 (02:37:26):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (02:37:26):
A terrible play for.
Speaker 3 (02:37:28):
Adam Mowen, and the recovery for the Blue Golds is
aiden drossed and a little bit of line fair for UW.
Speaker 4 (02:37:36):
Blair.
Speaker 3 (02:37:37):
He needed to get rid of that ball. I'm not
sure what he was thinking, was Adam Owen. I mean,
that's ends up. Not only is it, you know, a
big loss or turnover, but it's a thirty yard swing
to the ball was at the ten and it's recovered
all the way at the forty one yard line. Wow,
just a terrible sequence there for Adam Mowhen. And now
(02:37:57):
oh Claire gonna have to figure out the offensers are
down there. He find a ten fourteen fifty one left
to go in the fourth quarter, but that is the
start they needed to the fourth if they want the
miracle comeback. One receiver left one to the right for
Helder in the shotgun. He rolls to his right looking
pass is caught by Choole at the forty three, pushed
out of bounds the forty five. They want to they
(02:38:17):
want to flag. They're not gonna get you. Clivetter wash.
Now there's going to be a penalty here on the
Blue Golds as well. Clavetter was coming back onto the
field to play and he got pushed or hit or something,
and I think this is going against the Blue Golds.
It's going to be second and four just before the penalty.
But this is after the play, and I think this
is going on ou Claire. Clivetter ran him out of
(02:38:40):
bounds but then got kind of smacked on the sideline here,
and this is going against so Claire.
Speaker 15 (02:38:47):
After the play is over.
Speaker 17 (02:38:49):
Unsportsman like conduct eau Claire number twenty one this first
of the game, fifteen yards and then learn the down
counts second out.
Speaker 3 (02:38:58):
It's either Connor Durant or Matt Plankers. And it was
on the sideline. I'm not sure who it was, just
because there are some double numbers down there for l Claire.
So that is after the play. So the down counts,
it's gonna be second down, and where they mark this
back to it's gonna go back to the thirty two.
So this is gonna be second and nineteen here for
(02:39:19):
the Blue Golds. Clock will wind when they wind at
the officials asking for it to wind, but it's still
stopped at fourteen forty two. Back to pass looking left,
it's over the top and caught by chool across the
forty at the forty one extra pushing and shoving back
behind the play as well as the Blue Golds run
up to the line want to try to run quickly.
He gets back nine yards on the play. Bring up
(02:39:39):
third and ten now from their own forty one yard line.
One receiver left, three to the right. Here's for the
Blue Golds on the far hash mark Aiden Helder waits
the snap takes at four man rush here fir stout
looks right the entire way. It's up, caught and not
gonna have first down yardage here. Good job in coverage
for Clivetter on the catch by par League forty seven
yard line is where they're gonna ge him to. And
(02:40:01):
so it brings up fourth and about four here from
their own forty seven. They need the Stout forty nine
for a first down. Fourteen minutes left to play Stout
thirty five Oh Clare ten. They're going for it right away.
Three receivers left, one right over the middle, Helder up top.
Speaker 4 (02:40:14):
It is deflected away. I want to play brooks Brewer
the All American deflex.
Speaker 3 (02:40:19):
It and it's a turnover on downs and Stout's got
it back at the O Claire forty seven yard line.
Brooks Brewer, no way, and he starts talking a little
bit of smack toward the OA Claire sideline for a
second team preseason All American, the monominee mustang. Brooks Brewer
making the play downfield, had to come up big trying
to go to Kolinski, the tight end, and he did
(02:40:40):
exactly that. Wow, a great defensive play, and after that
terrible fumble from Adam Mohen, the defense bails him out.
Thirteen fifty two left to go, and Stout's got it
back on a first and ten from the OA Claire
forty seven yard line. It's Evans out wide right with
Carter in the slot, two tight ends left, same formation
(02:41:03):
we've seen all game long. Mowen has Ross who is
right in the shotgun and it's a handoff to Ross.
Ross big hole left side forty five to forty makes
some move. Steve bombs a defender down the sideline to
the thirty five and close to the thirty yard line
as he has pushed out of bounds by the Blue
Gold Max Marty, and it's a first down to the
thirty yard line. That's a seventeen yard game for Chandler Ross.
(02:41:24):
Ross now up to in the stats system, they got
him at sixty nine yards. That'll probably be adjusted. I
think there might be a runner two that's wrong in there.
They've got him at two touchdowns. He's only got one
in the game. But regardless Ross with a big run
there two receivers to the right. The tight ends are
gonna line up offset right as well. It's an offset
formation here for Stout and the handoff goes to Ross
(02:41:47):
right side. He's across the thirty turning for maybe three
to the twenty seven yard line. Ross was held on
two by Hoffner, just got a hold of the ankles.
And wouldn't let him go. Second and seven. I got Swinson,
they said, on the tackle as well, but it looked
like Hoffner was on the bottom just kind of grabbing
onto an ankle, not letting him go. I'll tell you
(02:42:08):
what Ross is gonna be good, folks, Chandler Ross senior
this season. A new transfer in here for Stout and
he has been very, very good at the running back
spot in the pistol Mowing second and seventh in the pistol.
Will take the handoff, it's Reid option. He's gonna run
it himself, bootleg around the left side, twenty five down
the sideline. He's gonna go out of bounds here the
fifteen yard line. Usher down of bounds once again by
(02:42:30):
Max Marty, but not before he gets first downyarded to
the fourteen. That's a thirteen yard scamper ver Mowing. All right, now,
don't fumble at this time and get your button in
the end zone here and end this thing. Twelve thirty
left to play in the fourth Stout thirty five Oh
Claire ten ball at the fourteen yard line of Eau Claire.
First and ten for Stout. The students who are left
(02:42:55):
and there aren't many in the end zone too, are
left or trying to make some noise. I got to
fix that speaker system here at Carson Man Two receivers right,
two tight ends right as well. Mowing in the pistol
again with Ross. I'm in here, hash Mark and the
handoff goes to Ross countering right. He's across the tens.
Speaker 4 (02:43:15):
Fins down to the five and he's pushed down inside.
Speaker 3 (02:43:17):
The five yard line at the three. What are on
for Chandler Ross? Yeah, he kind of Lacus making the stop,
but not before he gets to the three and eleven
yard game. It's first and goal for Stout at the
three yard line. And this is gonna be a lot
of run plays, I think here for the Blue Devils.
Not no need to put the ball in the air.
Run some clock down to eleven thirty five. Love to
(02:43:37):
play here in the for Stout. Thirty fives. Oh Claire
ten and Stout on the doorstep with the win at
their backs here in the fourth quarter, trying to end it.
One more scorer is gonna send even more folks to
the exits. Okay, mowing in the shotgun pistol. He's got
Ross behind him, two tight ends, right, two receivers right
(02:43:57):
as well. Mowing awaits a snap, hands it off Ross
up the gut, pushing, He's not gonna get there, and
the Germans suplex from behind. They're gonna get maybe half
a yard stop made by porter Mihelich and no game
second end goal from the three Helich with the stop,
(02:44:22):
Stout looking to the sideline, they're content to run some
clock here with ten forty five left to go here
in the fourth quarter, thirty five to ten Stout with
the league all in the middle of the hash mark
at the end zone to our left here on this hot,
hot October day, eighty six degrees and the Blue Devils
trying to win the War on ninety four trophy for
(02:44:43):
the tenth straight year. Mowing with Ross behind him in
the pistol, he will keep it himself bootlegged the left side.
Speaker 4 (02:44:48):
He's got a hole to the end zone.
Speaker 3 (02:44:50):
Touchdown, Blue Devils Adam Owen scampers for his second rushing
touchdown of the game. Stout takes a forty one ten
lead overall player ten twenty left to play, and folks,
it's getting closer for another sount victory in this War
on ninety four rivalry and more people popping up out
(02:45:11):
of their seats heading to the exits Charis and Jackman.
Jackman will take the extra point attempt yet going. We'll
hold snap spot kick up kick very very good forty
two ten start with the lead ten to twenty left
(02:45:32):
to play fourth quarter. We return after this on your
home for Blue Devils football.

This is u W Stout Football on news Talk w
m e Q.
Speaker 3 (02:46:16):
And the City by Properly is going back to Carson
Park Stout with the lead on Old Claire. The second
half has been dominated by the Blue Devils. They outscored
Oh Claire twenty one to zip. They were up twenty
one to ten at halftime, ten twenty left to play,
and once again the Blue Devils marching downfield on a
fifty three yard drive cap dof fine Adam Mowen three
(02:46:37):
yard touchdown run. He has been great today on the ground.
He has two touchdowns and is close to one hundred
yard mark as well. He was over the one hundred
yard mark with that big sack strip fumble and I'll
put him back under the one hundred yard mark. Is
yet choul, We'll take a knee in the end zone
on the kickoff from Jackman. Well, they didn't taunt. I
(02:47:01):
thought they might taunt the students, but without being too petty,
there aren't a whole lot of students left Tuton down
on that end zone stand to our left, and in
fact there's a few. It's a group of four that
just decided no, I'm good, let's leave. And there's more
and more of those folks here today. First half, there
were so many people here that people started sitting in
(02:47:22):
the top rows of the third base bleachers at the
Carson Park Baseball Stadium, which is past the stands beyond
the stout sideline on the far side to kind of
get an angle on it. They do not need to
sit there anymore. Stands have started to clear out, and
here comes o Claire out of the twenty five yard line.
It'll be a handoff to the left side and tripped
(02:47:43):
up in the backfield. What to play there by Owen
Christa to make the stop on Marcato running left, you'll
get tackled for a loss of two. Back to the
twenty three. Took under ten minutes left to play and
stout up forty two to ten on Oh Claire, the
old saying you know I've mentioned this, but more on
this right, And it happens at d one at any
level that hey, you can have a you know, a
(02:48:05):
one to nine record, for instance, but if you beat
your rival, you usually feel like you've had a successful season.
Now that's not every program, but in this rivalry in particular,
as long as you get a win against your rival.
As that's over the middle, tool makes the catch near
the thirty, makes a move and down at the thirty
five he's got the first down. They play there twelve
yards on the play, you gottau Claire trying to take
dives right now, Ben Helene got like touched by a
(02:48:29):
blue double and then went down with his arms play lane,
wanting a penalty and literally Chris gibbson get up and
not playing that game. Helder takes the snap after the
first down, throws left. It is caught, but not much
up near the forty yard line. To Eli Thompson, they're
gonna run up tempo here is they're gonna run kind
of the two minute Ril Week tick under nine to
ten left of place. Stout leading forty two to ten
(02:48:52):
here in the fourth quarter, back to pass, Helder looks
to throw it deep over the middle Toool makes no,
it's dropped. Good hit on my good man. Chewele couldn't
hang on to it into that wind. That wind kind
of just swirling around and it was off his fingertips
and tried to bring it in. Chewel has been beat
up on some throws over the middle. Stout has put
(02:49:14):
the lick on him. And man, tell you what, they
have hit hard today. Have the safeties when they have
been able to line up a hit. It is second down,
third down, should be third down. I believe you had
third and five. They got it second on the board,
but it should be third down. Here, nine minutes left
to play fourth quarter, held her back to pass.
Speaker 4 (02:49:33):
There comes a pressure sacked back at the thirty one
yard line. Drew Bourne's the freshman with his first sack.
Speaker 3 (02:49:40):
Of his Blue Devil career, and he gets him back
to the thirty two an eight yard loss that'll bring
up fourth down. It's fourth and thirteen, despite what the
scoreboards says. It is fourth and it's eight thirty eight
left to play. The punt unit is out and you
might as well wave the white flag here. If you're
the Blue Golds, this game is in the books. You're
(02:50:02):
still eight twenty nine left to play. Okay, kicking into
the wind on this punt, We'll see what happens here
for Fisher, carter back at his own twenty, but he's
got to come. Heat should come up at least ten
more yards with where the wind is blowing. Stout looks
like they want to block it here. They're bringing the
pressure here. It comes Fisher a line drive, terrible punt.
It's going to take an oaklair bounce and roll out
(02:50:23):
of bounds near the thirty yard line of Sout. It
will be about a thirty seven thirty eight yard or
depending on where they market just off the side of
his foot ended up working out pretty good. Eight oh
six to go. Stout's got it back up forty two
to ten. It has been a while since we've had
(02:50:43):
a close one in this rivalry against Stout close games
against Oaklaire over the years. In this nine about to
be ten game win streak against o Claire, the closest
most recently was the game right after COVID here at
(02:51:03):
Carson Park, Sound one, thirty eight to thirty four in
that ball game. But the last three and now this
one as well have been blowouts, and this is another one.
And Luke Sadeen, the backup quarterback is in hand off
up the gut to ross flying a scrimmage is the
thirty and Dave Hansen get on the PA before they
blew a dead three yard game. Just a student body
(02:51:26):
pushed to the left up to the thirty three yard line.
So Luke Sadeen is in again. The brother of Justin
Sideen also plays on the baseball team. Like his brother Justin,
Luke Sadeen so far in the season, he got some
good playing time against Northwestern two weeks ago. He went
six for twelve for sixty one yards and a touchdown
and so that means Adam Owens's day is done and
(02:51:47):
a great day for Adam Moon. Indeed, two passes through
the air to rushing touchdowns as well so to tds
through the air to touchdowns on the ground just under
one hundred yards rushing, two tight ends left, two receivers
right for Sadeen and the shotgun he hands off to Ross.
Ross running left through the hole, bounces off a tackler.
Then he fumbles the ball and Oaklaire says they haven't
(02:52:09):
and they do. Ross stops it up. Got hit hard
at the thirty five yard line four old player and
the recovery will go to that is number eleven having
to Rettkowski is the man with the recovery. The thirty
two yard line is where Oak Player takes over at
(02:52:36):
the thirty two of Stout seven to eleven left to
go Stout forty two oh player ten. A little bit
of a learning moment there for the backup offense, the
backup quarterback in Sadean of course Ross as well. I
mean this first string running back needed to be a
little more secure with the ball. The first team still
out there for the Blue Golds back to pass Helder.
(02:52:56):
Helder launches this went up intercepted, intercepted downfield by Jesse. Yeah,
let's for the return of the twenty twenty five. He's
got a block to the thirty, trying to cut it
back and he will get taken down at the thirty
yard line. Late Black coming in here as well. I
think it's going to be on the Blue Devils for
an illegal block on that return are missing game. But
Jesse Ellis with a big time interception his first of
(02:53:19):
the season and held or just launching into the near sideline.
It's out about or let's hear the car.
Speaker 17 (02:53:27):
First foul League blind side block number ninety three, fifteen yards.
Speaker 15 (02:53:34):
They have the difference, then they go. He had the
run first.
Speaker 3 (02:53:37):
Out at the distance from the end of the run,
so it was at the thirty, so it is going
to be fifteen anyway, So that's going to back Stout
up to the fifteen yard line, their own fifteen yard line.
The interception happened down near the fifteen yard line for
Ellis and then got to return all the way to
the thirty. But it'll be negated on that illegal blind
side block on Abe Helsel, so Stout's got it once again.
(02:54:00):
It will be Luke Sadeen out for the Blue doubles
with six fifty seven left to play, forty two to ten.
Stout with the lead and Sadeen in the shotgun. He's
got the backup tight ends in there as well. So
it is I think the second stringers now in forced out.
It comes a handoff to Ross. Ross is gonna get
a yard or two to the left side. In fact
(02:54:21):
that I'm gonna get three to the eighteen yard line,
six forty eight left to play, and we imagine you'll
get Ross out of there. I wouldn't want to have
Ross in this game at this moment. Some of the
backup running backs in been Tolkien into the game here
for South, as long as you beat your rival, right,
(02:54:43):
and always said that about the Michigan Ohio State rivalry,
that if you're coaching those teams, as long as you
can beat the rible Think about Ryan Day. Last year
you win the national championship and there's still Ohio State
fans are upset that you lost to Michigan. This is
such a big game for that reason, and man has
Clay Birmingham had a heck of a time against the
So Claire team in his tenure. Handoff goes to Tolkien
(02:55:04):
encountering up the middle. He'll get a couple to the twenty,
maybe the twenty one because he has pushed backwards by
Yanni canillacis against Still the first team in for the
blue goals for the most part, is a couple of
second stringers in Stout. We'll get a big line change
here on third and five after the run of the
(02:55:25):
twenty yard line. Jase Hughes now back into the game
with the running back spot. Just a consistent, continuous revolving
door at running back to keep everybody fresh. McCabe Devorax
splits out wide left, Fara out wide rights, and Aaron
Williams in the slot to the right. Let's see if
Sanine throws here three seconds, two seconds on the plate
(02:55:47):
block one, he'll take the snap. He will throw a
throw right. It's deflected at the line and incomplete, getting
his hands out on it. There was Brady Folds, the
newcomer of the year in the Wayak last season on
the defense's side, and Stout will have to punk with
five twenty two remaining and sut up forty two to ten.
Here on Oa Claire, We're gonna get rid of the
(02:56:09):
crowd Mic, we might have to. It feels like it's
getting worse. Guys, Holy cow, absolutely crazy, how windy and
kind of wild. It's been for a beautiful of a night.
It was last night with O Claire, Regis and Mondovi
here at Carson Park. Just a perfect night for football.
Maybe a'll touch on the warm side, but Mandy Preview
(02:56:32):
will kick this one away the Blue Goals. We're gonna
bring the block unit. He will get the snap and
get this punt away. Not a great one, end over
end and it goes out of bounds near the fifty
yard line. That's a not a good punt. He's just
trying to get rid of that. And it's gonna be
a great field position here for the Blue Golds. With
five seventeen remaining, sat Low leading forty two to ten
over O Claire for Clay Birmingham and he took over
(02:56:56):
this program. He's only lost three times to O Claire,
has beat the Blue Golds ten to ten and three
record in his tenure here for the Blue Blue Devils
should be more than that, isn't it. Yeah, eleven and
three record in his time here at Stout and gonna
(02:57:19):
make it twelve and three after today, Helder in the shotgun.
The ball is at the forty six yard line, hand
up off the middle of breaking a hole and across
the fifty I'll put in the stout forty eight yard
line on a we have a six yard gain for Rothmeyer,
the freshman running back.
Speaker 15 (02:57:35):
Tackle by number one.
Speaker 3 (02:57:37):
He's got himself six yards second and four in the
tackle made by the backup cornerback and A. J. Hogan,
the sophomore. It is all second string team here for
the Blue Devils at the moment, except for Jesse Ellis
on the left cornerback spot. They're a little bit depleted
in the secondary. So it doesn't surprise me. Quick pass
out right side. The pressure was coming. Rothmeyer makes a catch,
(02:57:59):
makes it cut thirty five five yard line, thirty still
on his feet to the twenty five and taken down
from behind you the twenty yard line. Cogan made the
stop along with Dwight Kiffmeyer, who recovered all the way
from the lineman spot to make the stop up near
the twenty yard line to the nineteen. Officially in a
first down here for the Blue Golds. It's an over
a twenty yard gain and now Helder in the shotgun
(02:58:19):
looking over the middle, looking looking catch made across the
fifteen near the ten. As he falls forward, there is
the tight end apart me the receiver there in Kuchai,
and he's down at the eleven yard line. This ain't
no at the tenth goal and he's a yard short
of the first down. So second and one here from
the ten yard line. Held her back to pass, looks right,
catch made out of the backfield, nothing doing. Tackled immediately
(02:58:43):
out on the edge. There by Rothmeyer tackled by the
Blue Devils. Badillo had a third and two now here
for the Blue Golds back just outside the ten yard line.
Here's a counterplay, Rothmeyer taking down Badillo again, and he
is short on the counterplay and stopped right at the ten.
(02:59:05):
It'll be fourth and one, three point thirty left to
play here in the contest, Stout leading for two to ten.
The Stout tries to keep the Blue Golds off the
board here in the second half, fourth and one from
right on the ten. They need the nine for a
first down to the Blue Golds. Helder is the quarterback.
(02:59:25):
It is Mercado as the tailback against the second stringers.
For Stout sends a man in motion gets the snap,
he wants to roll to his left. Will he run, No,
He'll throw its pot in the back of the end zone.
It's a touchdown for the Blue Golds. Hick Keem with
this first touchdown reception of the season. It's going to
be all academic though. Three to zero five to go
and sound leading forty two to sixteen. Now over the
(02:59:47):
Blue Golds and Clay Birmingham not gonna be happy with
that again. Good chance here for some of these guys
to get into the game and rivalry game. But not
happy with I'm sure the way that the goals march
that down the field. Here's Satchel Johnson for the extra point.
(03:00:07):
Forty two to sixteen. Stout leads three to zero five
to go, snap spot. Johnson's kick is wide near stall.
I just got through the near side upright. It's forty
two to seventeen stat with the lead three zero five
to go. We'll come back right after this. On your
home for Blue Doubles football.
Speaker 1 (03:00:26):
It's the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (03:01:03):
W M e Q. Welcome back here two Carson Park
forty two to seventeen Stout with the lead Auto Claire
three to oh five left to plays. The Blue Doubles
rather are three minutes away from winning their tenth straight
or on ninety four rival regame against O Claire and
(03:01:23):
they are lined up for the onside kick. Here are
the Blue Golds and they will kick this high in
the air. It is going to be received. No, it's
bumbled away and oh player's gonna get a umble. The
two guys going for the ball and right into the
hands of Oak Claire. Now, oh we got a whistle here?
Did somebody get started early? I mean this is there
(03:01:45):
was a you know, I thought I heard a whistle
before that ball was recovered. I think we might have
an Inverden whistle. Here folks. Now the officials might just
say to hell with it.
Speaker 15 (03:01:55):
And whistle fire to the recovery rekick.
Speaker 3 (03:02:03):
That's how we had in an invertent whistle and that
is a massive break for Stout and the referee. I mean,
it's luckily for the referees it's forty two to seventeen
and not a one play or one possession game. If
it's a one possession game, the referees might not be
able to get to the parking lot. Folks. Yeah, I
mean it was a great on side kick. I shouldn't
(03:02:25):
say it wasn't a great on side kick. Stout had
two guys McCabe, Devorak and I think it was Brooks
Brewer came together and they just both went for the
ball and bounced off both of their chests and went
to the Blue Golds. But there was a whistle in there.
You could hear it, and that's just a referee mistake
and that might cost the Blue Golds a chance here
for a day, for the opportunity to get the ball back.
(03:02:47):
But I mean, this game is not You're not coming
back from forty two to seventeen to three minutes left,
three five to be exact, here is the on side
kick again high in the air, and it is grab
by Stoutout's got it at the forty six yard line.
Sou't just need to go up and get that ball.
Brooks Brewer got it at the forty six by recovering Stout,
(03:03:11):
and you can understand the frustration there, but that is
not going to change the outcome of this game.
Speaker 15 (03:03:16):
At the south forty.
Speaker 3 (03:03:18):
Chandler Ross recovered it, but it was brooks Brewer and
to get that one for the Blue Devils, and so
Stout's got it. At the Eau Claire forty six is
where they'll start. And again we will see some backups
here for Stout, including Luke Sanin will stay in at quarterback.
Thought we might see h Jacob Royce the third quarterback,
(03:03:38):
but we will not. Two receivers to the left, two
tight ends right Sadem will send Ben Tolkienen out of
the backfield. It's an empty backfield here for Stout at
the forty six, and ain't gonna keep it himself. Runs right,
He's got a big hole right side of the forty
down the first sideline thirty five and he's pushed out
the bounds at the thirty There is a flag coming in.
I think there was a whole downfield here for Scout.
It was downfield though, so you know this is gonna
(03:04:02):
end up being like a first and seven or something
like that when they mark this penalty yardage off is
a really good run for city.
Speaker 15 (03:04:13):
Tenner penalty first down.
Speaker 3 (03:04:15):
Yeah, it's from the spot of the foul, which is
down at about the thirty one and so then marking
back to the forty one, so you're gonna get first
in like five here for Stout. I don't know why
Stout's going back so far. That was a hold was
down field, So yeah, the ball's gonna put it in
the forty one line right now. Why are they moving
(03:04:36):
the chains here? Don't move the chains. That's not what
you're doing. You keep it there. I mean this a
chain the chain gang doesn't know where to put the chains. Yes, man, yeah,
three for three of the longest minutes of your life.
You're two fifty left to play. In the fourth it's
Stout forty two Oaklaire seventeen, first and five. Because that
hold was so far downfield, we're sitting and got into
(03:04:56):
the thirty yard line and the hold came at like
the thirty one, so it's why they marked it back
to the forty one and it'll be first and five
here for Stout. Two receivers to the left, two tight
ends right, send Tolkien into the right. Three seconds left
in the play clock. With two we'll take the snaps
and he's gonna run it again to the right side,
and he's got a couple but doesn't have the first
down to the thirty eight. Look like his ford progress. Well,
(03:05:19):
we hit a defender hard. Three are game to the
right side of the thirty eight. It'll be second two
here for Stout. Two twenty left to play and Stout
will let this stick down to the two minute timeout.
Each team has all three timeouts. I highly doubt Rob
Ericson is going to take him. With how big of
a score line this is for the Blue Devils at
the moment, they basically need to get one first down
and then take some knees and this game is over.
(03:05:43):
Blue Devils have the trophy in the end zone. Two
are right just behind the goalposts and again in a
dangerous spot because that's where Alec Benzinger snapped it six
years ago here at Carson Park. And then of course
j and put it back together. Tried to reach out
to both of them, didn't wasn't able to get an
(03:06:04):
interview with both of them. But man, what a cool
tradition here. Interestingly enough, the trophy that was in twenty
nineteen when it was snapped on the extra point and
then put back together afterward, it was broken two years
before that. It was sitting on a folding chair in
twenty seventeen in the South locker room and it fell
and the corner of it snapped up and they had
(03:06:25):
to glue that piece back on. So I think that
just adds to the fun of the trophy and all
the great trophies that are in you know, college football
for these rivalry series. This trophy was started, you know,
not too long ago. This rivalry has been going on
since nineteen seventeen, but the trophy didn't come around till
what was it, two thousand and seven, two thousand and
eight kind of stout has a second and two from
(03:06:45):
the blue gold thirty eight yard line. Too minute timeout
is over, the handoff goes up the middle, Tolkien and
looking to churn it and he won't get there, taking
down after maybe a half a yard gain for Ben
tolkienen and it will be third and short here for
the Blue Devils. They need to get one more first
down and then they can run out the clock. And
so they are not gonna take a knee here. They
(03:07:07):
want to at least get the first down.
Speaker 9 (03:07:09):
Line third to one.
Speaker 3 (03:07:12):
Luke sadein looking to the sign line. Twenty seconds on
the play clock. They'll take this snap around the one
fifteen mark left in the half. They might take a
time out here. They finally get the play in now
twelve seconds left on the play clock. They're taking forever
to go to the line. Gotta go, guys seven six.
They might need a time out here. They go up quickly.
Sading goes under center with two. With one, he'll take
(03:07:34):
the snap, handoff, goes to Tolkienen and he's got the
first down into the thirty five yard line. He's got
enough for the first down, and the Blue Devils will
move the chains. They'll stop the clock momentarily, and they
basically are gonna only need to take one more snap
and take a knee and that should do it. Rob
Erickson is not going to call any timeouts, and Stout
(03:07:57):
is gonna win the war on ninety four for the
tenth straight season, the longest win streak by either team
in this rivalry, as the war On ninety four trophy
will become and still stay a staple of the trophy
case in the hallways of Johnson field House, just down
the hallway from basketball and right by the football offices
(03:08:18):
as well. Sadein takes a knee thirty five seconds remain
that is gonna do it, and a backflip from Ben
Tolkienen to add to it. He really wanted this win.
He was the guy who brought the trophy out of
the locker room in the pregame. And Stout's gonna go
down and get it anyway. They're gonna go down and
get the trophy before the handshakes. I think they knew
(03:08:39):
a little bit about the issues here that the Blue
Golds felt like they were gonna win this game. They're
gonna get it anyway. They don't care about the handshakes,
and Stout will go and take that trophy. The men
to get it playing side l and Abe Helson, and
they hoisted in the air. They didn't care about the
handshakes today the game as they raised that trophy high
in the air, and they'll set that on the sideline
(03:09:02):
and now they'll go get the handshakes as well. They've
been a great tradition to wait for the handshakes and
then everybody runs down to the end zone. But they
wanted it right away. They didn't want to mess around
with anybody stealing that trophy, taking that trophy or anything
like that. Dave helpsil and plainside l or your guys
to go get it. And Ben Tolkienen is absolutely going
(03:09:25):
nuts after those handshakes, loving it as well. He's looking
for the trophy. He said, who went and got that thing?
Bring it out here. It's literally looking around and saying,
who took the trophy? Where did it go? Ben Tolkienen goes,
where is it? Bring it over here, guys, and we
want to celebrate with it. They're going to go down
near the end zone at the entrance of Carson Park
(03:09:46):
at the end to our right, the west end zone,
and they will celebrate with that trophy here after we're
gotta go get somebody's got to go grab it. They
put it on the sideline.
Speaker 15 (03:09:56):
We'll be playing a concert.
Speaker 3 (03:09:57):
I'm looking forward to Uncommon Denominator after the game.
Speaker 15 (03:10:01):
You're all welcome to head on down.
Speaker 3 (03:10:03):
Where's the trophy. Go get the trophy, guys. They set
it down after they knew they had to do handshakes.
There they come with it and they'll celebrate demonte Evans
hoisting it in the air, and the Blue Devils will
hoist it in the air about the twenty five yard line.
Blue Golds are gonna go sing the alma mater. Jed
Stutsman taking some pictures of the scoreboard as well as
they hoist that trophy high into the air. The local cameras,
(03:10:26):
local media crews from WQOWWAAU taking pictures and taking footage
as Oak Laire comes away with that defeat again and
Stout with a forty two to seventeen win over the
Blue Golds here this afternoon. A dominant performance by Clay
Birmingham's group. Cheers all around. You can hear them out there,
(03:10:48):
that is for sure. And the Blue Golds will sing
the alma mater as Stout cheers in the background. And man,
I love rivalries in college football. They are so much
fun and stout when you win it ten years in
a row. You know, this used to be the thing,
right the people used to say, you know, in rivalry
games where a team wins so much ago Is it
(03:11:09):
a rivalry when you win that many times that many
times in a row, and that becomes a real question,
doesn't it. At what point does it stop being a rivalry?
There's the big cheer and they'll hoist that trophy high
in the air once again. Play Birmingham will come up
and chat with us in the postgame show. That's all
coming up as Stout celebrates it's forty two to seventeen
win over Oh Claire. We'll come back right after this
here on your home for Blue Double.

Speaker 3 (03:13:48):
Welcome back here to Carson Park, the Blue Devils getting
a win forty two to seventeen over Oh Claire. It
is our postgame show and it's a tenth straight win
in the War On ninety four series here today, and
Clay Birmingham is hugging the family there after he did
all the interviews with the Leader Telegram here WAU as well,
(03:14:11):
and we will hopefully get him up in the booth
in just a few moments to talk about this rivalry matchup,
win and the War On ninety four trophy is secured
once again into the halls at Johnson Field House. Late
Birmingham has had so much success in this rivalry. I
think he remembered he's coming up here to talk to Pete. Yeah,
he just looked up and he said, hey, Pete, there
you go. So he's coming up with his daughter. I
(03:14:33):
think as well, it's come and chat with us. So
he'll run up and we'll see Birmingham in a moment.
Adam Moan goes ten of sixteen in this game for
two hundred and twenty seven yards and two touchdowns. He
also ran in two touchdowns. He had one hundred nineteen
yards rushing, but then a big thirty yard loss on
that stripped some bumble ended up putting him under the
one hundred yard mark in the game, but two touchdowns.
(03:14:53):
Shanla Ross had a touchdown as well in eighty eight
yards rushing, and then it was nineteen yards for Hughes
a touchdown as well. Devontae Evans four receptions one hundred
and twenty two yards for two touchdowns, and Avron Carter
had a fifty five yarder as well back in the
first half. A big moment for him and a big
moment for the Blue Devils who get the win today.
(03:15:14):
They end up with four hundred and fifty yards of
total offense in two hundred and forty four yards of
Larry is right on cue. Look at that. I knew
he was coming up here. So all right, mister Birmingham
coach Birmingham, appreciate you taking the time with us. I'll
tell you what when I talked to you yesterday, coach,
I think I felt that, maybe it's just because of
(03:15:35):
the talk about Claire, I felt like this was going
to be the closest they've been in a while to
having a shot to knock you guys off. You seemed really,
really confident. And this is why I defer to you
and I don't go off of my feelings. Talk a
little bit about the game, because man, I know it
was a little bit back and forth there in the
first half, but the third quarter you guys turned it
on and end up with another kind of blowout victory
in this rivalry series.
Speaker 8 (03:15:56):
Yeah, you know what, We talked you what all week
with our guys. We don't need all the distractions, We
don't need the hype. Let them run their mouth. We
talk with our pads and that's been the message all
and it's easy, right, get on social media and get
on anything. And we just we just fed the players
this all week and they were they were ready to
go here, so you know, it's let's be let's be
(03:16:16):
honest here. They played three pretty easy teams, so they
haven't seen a team yet that can they can battle
with for four quarters. Have their whole team never played
a four core game yet, so just just calling calling
a space of spade. But our guys, you know, it's
we've been in those battles. We played Warburg top ten
team and you got to play those win or lose.
(03:16:36):
You gotta get ready for this conference. Man, it's gonna
be physical, you know that.
Speaker 3 (03:16:39):
And it was a physical game out there. I'm sure
that the penalties kind of uh made you pull your
hair out a little better at least Gray a little
bit more out there.
Speaker 8 (03:16:47):
Half time we had eight penalties, yeah, for eighty some yards,
so and.
Speaker 3 (03:16:50):
It felt like if you could just eliminate those, you'd
be in good shape. And that's exactly what you did
in the third quarter, especially open it up with about Davidson.
Speaker 8 (03:16:57):
Yeah, we had some we have some you know, face
masks and some dumb, really dumb penalties, right, and a
lot of fifteen yard ers too, which tacked on and
that's how they got all the yards in the in
the first court. In the first half, we talked about
a halftime just playing smarter, and we got a lot
of girl to do yet, man, we did not play
smart this game in a lot of different situations. But
it's a good one to get uneath, our belt learn
(03:17:18):
from You know, this is good. I mean, I can't
wait till this game is over. Yeah, because this my
phone has been blowing up and and and there's so
many distractions, and everybody talks about it. Everybody says, you
better beat a Claire. You're you gonna be Declaire. You know,
we will, we'll, we'll, we'll back your winter tie.
Speaker 29 (03:17:37):
You know.
Speaker 8 (03:17:38):
It's uh, it's just nice because now we can just
put this game to rest and be done and let's
just play football and teach kids.
Speaker 3 (03:17:46):
So well, you're something like twelve and three against so
Claire in your time here at Stout, which is uh,
we always talk about it right that you know, sometimes
you can in those rivalry series, right if you're the
Michigan coach, as long as you beat Ohio State or
vice versa, and as long as you beat a Claire
and you do that quite and you did it here
today as well. I wanted to talk real quickly about
Devonte Evans because he didn't have a catch in that
first half. What was the message to him? I mean
(03:18:07):
was he kind of looking at chomps of it saying
you got to get once I get the ball I'm
going in because he seemed like he kind of challenged
and he stepped up to those big deep catches. With
those two.
Speaker 8 (03:18:16):
Touchdowns, I won't even guess he didn't have a catch. Yeah,
look at that. But he's just a big playmaker, just
a good receiver. It's gonna you know, I whether it
happens in the first half or second half, it just
needs to happen in the game. So you know, he's
a he's a good ballplayer, and we need to get
the ball in his hands. So the good thing is
we got a lot of weapons at that position. So
I'm excited for our youth.
Speaker 31 (03:18:36):
Two.
Speaker 3 (03:18:36):
You certainly do. Then you welcome in an Oshcosh team
next week into Stout at Williams Stadium, And it's one
of those two where I know Kobe was on your
staff last year, but now again he gets to face
him now in a home game here for Sotouth, the
former Oshcosh quarterback. You guys got that dramatic win last
year in Oshkosh, and boy, they're going to pose a
challenge and it's a whole new ball game next week.
Speaker 8 (03:18:58):
And it is every week in this conference. Every week
is so different. I mean we I've I've started watching
them this past week. We were by a week, so
I got a chance to break them down their first
three games, and uh they just pose a little different,
different problem. But I mean it's it's a copycat league
in a sense too, though, so they're running the same
kind of that but plays a little bit. It's kind
of like the NFL. And and uh so we'll be ready.
(03:19:18):
We got a week to prepare and and uh get
after it. But you know, the biggest thing is we
just we got to get people healed up every game.
Speaker 3 (03:19:25):
And this is this is the league.
Speaker 14 (03:19:26):
Man.
Speaker 8 (03:19:26):
We and some guys go down today and it's now
it's getting another person ready. So everybody's going through it
no matter what level football we play at. So that'll
be the challenge is getting those next guy in line
ready to go.
Speaker 3 (03:19:37):
All right, there's probably a vanilla ice line to give
you here, since he's got a concert in town here tonight,
but none, Yeah he does. Yeah, you're gonna hang around
for that.
Speaker 8 (03:19:45):
Well, I might actually to the nineties kidding. Yeah, jeez,
that's my wheelhouse.
Speaker 3 (03:19:49):
I'll find you some I'll find you some tickets.
Speaker 8 (03:19:51):
I gotta I got a jet out of here as
soon as they get one talking to you, I'm in
the car going to Rice Lake for my nephew's wedding.
Fair enough, because you think a football family would you know?
Schedule on different But I guess the wife always wins,
so it doesn't matter absolutely.
Speaker 3 (03:20:04):
But I'll give you a report on it. How about that?
Speaker 8 (03:20:06):
Yeah, I would love to go to the So there
you go.
Speaker 3 (03:20:09):
All right, Yeah it works out. Coach. You appreciate taking
the time with us and we'll see you next week.
All right. Appreciate all right, Clay Birmingham joining us here
on our postgame show. Appreciate all of his hard work
and like I said, he was confident and why wouldn't
you be with that team that he's got here this
week for the Blue Devils and this season for the
Blue Devils as well. A forty two to seventeen win
over Uwclaire Stott will keep the war On ninety four
(03:20:31):
trophy for one more year. They'll be back in the
nominee to take on this So Clare team next season.
But they got big aspirations. They're not want to know
in conference they're three and one in conference play. They
were getting member Stout was getting votes in the top
twenty five poll to start this season. So Stout feel's
right that they're kind of on the edge. They felt
like that last season. They got those big wins against
Whitewater and Osh Gosh, it set up a game at
(03:20:53):
the end of the season in O Claire against Plattefell
that was for the conference championship. They had we were
one win away from getting into the NCAA tournament. Instead
they went and played in the Isthmus Bowl, not in
the NCAA tournament. That needs to be the next step.
And while they lost a lot of guys from last year,
this team feels like they can be the surprise team.
You know, everybody's gonna be talking about Whitewater and Lacrosse
and Oshkosh and Platteville and those teams, and rightfully so, however,
(03:21:17):
and River falls right, but they're the team that's that's
next up, And if they can get a big win
next week against Oshkosh, it really starts to get interesting
before that Friday night game against Whitewater in a couple
of weeks. So plenty to look forward to here for
Stout is they outgained Oaklaire today four fifty to two,
forty four, even though they out penaltied again. Stout had
(03:21:37):
eleven penalties for one hundred and fourteen yards today thirty
five yards of penalty yardage forro Claire. So that's got
to be cleaned up, but I'm sure they'll work on
that as well. Other scores from on the YAC before
we sign off, Plattfell a big winner fifty two to
nothing over Stevens Point Oshkosh hold on for a twenty
one to seventeen win against River Falls, so two to
one to OHO Conference team is next week meeting up
(03:21:58):
in Monomine between the Titans and the Blue Devils, and
Whitewater and Lacrosse are headed to a second overtime down
in Whitewater, twenty to twenty. The score there WIAC network
dot com. If you want to watch the end of
that game between Whitewater and Lacrosse down at Perkins Stadium.
That should be a fun one there for sure. Whitewater
was up seventeen nothing at halftime, twenty to twenty second
(03:22:19):
overtime about to get underway down at Whitewater between two
top ten teams. Wow, what a week, What a weekend.
Homecoming weekend for Oa Claire is spoiled. They've got plenty
more going on here at Carson Parking and o'claire as well,
But nonetheless stout with the win forty two to seventeen
is they win for the tenth straight time against the
(03:22:39):
Blue Goals and they do it here at historic Carson
Park in downtown o Claire. Well, special thanks as always
to coach Birmingham for joining us in the postgame and
the pregame show. And it is always a special thanks
to our halftime guest in Dalton Mondo, the Oaklare North
graduate and right tackle for the Blue Devils. What a game?
(03:23:00):
How about that? Stout with the win forty two to
seventeen over oh Claire and they improved a three to
one on the season, one to zero in conference play.
