From Reynolds Field on the campus so the University of Northwestern.
We welcome you to the final non conference game of
the twenty twenty five Division three football season featuring the
O to two Northwestern Eagles and the defending champions of
the u mech and your UW s down Blue Devils
at one and one so far on the twenty twenty
five season. Hello fans, knots in here alive a top
(01:01):
Reynolds Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota, as we get set
for the final tune up game four Stout before they
get a bye week next week and then a date
with their war on ninety four rivals Wclaire Blue Goals
at Carson Park on October fourth. Stout is coming off
a sixteen to zhering loss to the number ten ranked
warped Burg Knights last week at home in a game
(01:21):
that saw absolutely nothing go right for the Blue Devils offense.
It was held to one hundred and thirty five yards
and it was just the first time since the first
game of the twenty twenty two season against the warped
Burg Knights that Stout had been shut out held scoreless
in a ball game. The offense was great in Week
one though for Stout against Dubuke when they put up
(01:41):
thirty eight points, and they'll look to get their receivers
going again like they did in that game. DeVante Evans,
Avron Carter, and Cade Tappan are the lead men in
that receiving corps here against this Northwestern team that has
allowed four hundred and forty three yards per game in
their first two contests. That's right. The Eagles had one
UMAC last season, but this season's non conference schedule has
(02:03):
been tough for this young team, as they have lost
thirty two to seven to Saint Olaf and fifty to
three to a ranked in Bethel team last week. The
Eagles will try to establish their ground game with junior
running back ash and Lofton, but they'll be up against
a stout defense from UW Stout. It's only allowed ninety
two yards per game on the ground in their first
(02:23):
two ball games of the year. The Yak is undefeated
on the day. Can Stout keep the street alive? We'll
find out shortly, but first will pause and come back
to the head coach of the Blue Devils play Birmingham
right after this here on your home for Blue Devils Football.

From the creator of Bone Valley comes a gripping new
true crime podcast, Graves County. In the small town of Mayfield, Kentucky,
the beloved fire chief's daughter is dead and everyone has
a theory. But when a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter starts digging,
the entire town goes dark.
Speaker 7 (03:35):
So it sounds like a lot of people have come
forward saying I know who did this, but no one
has said who did it?

What is everyone so afraid of? Open the iHeartRadio app

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Now we're back on the Bob and Steeves Bpmaco Shops
pregame show. Now here's uw stout head coach Clay Birmingham
and coach Birmingham now joins us as the UW SELL
Blue Doubles get set for the final non conference game
of the season here against Northwest. I appreciate you taking
a time, coach, and we'll turn our attention to Northwestern
here and kind of how you guys are prepared for
(04:08):
this week. But we don't want to talk a ton
about last week in Warburg. But I'd imagine that, if anything,
you come away from that game knowing you know that
you're playing a top ten team, and you know, most
of the games are going to play and the conference
player are going to be against teams that are that level,
that caliber. So what does it do in terms of
getting you guys prepared for the YAX season knowing that
(04:29):
you guys played a really solid team and a team
that's going to be competitive, you know from a national standpoint.
Speaker 8 (04:36):
Yeah, I'm not sure if it does much at all,
to be honest with you. I mean, scheduling is tough
enough where you just got to find a game whenever
you can get it, and they're not easy to come
by in our league since we need to find three
non cons and most other conference when we have to
find one or two.
Speaker 9 (04:50):
So you kind of take what you can get.
Speaker 8 (04:53):
You know. It's one of those things where we don't
need to play a top ten team to prove who
we are because we face you know, five of them
in the season at a conference. So yeah, it was
just kind of the thing that just they popped up.
We were looking for a game as our last resort basically,
and we signed them up. But it was it was
a good game, you know, I thought a very winnable
game for us. I thought defensive played really pretty well,
(05:17):
pretty pretty sound. I mean, we gave up five explosives,
but the pass plays were only between twenty and twenty
five yards each of them, and they weren't a huge
explosive plays.
Speaker 9 (05:28):
You know, take care of football. We we threw the
ball away a lot.
Speaker 8 (05:32):
We couldn't capitalize on offense getting first downs, and it
was just a real struggle for our offense.
Speaker 9 (05:38):
So, you know, let's coach. I'm putting it on the coaches.
Speaker 8 (05:41):
I mean, we got the talent, we need to coaching
better and and do you know, have a better scheme.
When playing eight doesn't work, we gotta revert to Plan B,
and I don't think we did that very well. So
that'll be a learning, little learning creer for our offensive
staff a little bit too. And the defense has to
keep maintaining what they're doing a little bit. And obviously
they don't score any points we win, so we got
to shout them out.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
Yeah, I mean, especially on the offensive side.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
As you look at that, I mean, it's not like
there aren't guys who are back from last year, but
is it still sort of you're in that you know,
non conference window where guys are still trying to develop
chemistry with each other. I'm sure for Adam Owen, right,
he's trying to figure out, you know, Aron Carter or
Kate Tappaner, the guys who didn't play a lot last
year from a receiving standpoint, just trying to figure out
kind of how they run their routes and so on.
Is that still sort of in the process before you
(06:26):
get to the bye week and then obviously conference play
as well.
Speaker 9 (06:30):
Yeah, it's tough.
Speaker 8 (06:31):
You know, you lose twenty eight seniors and you come
back and you got some good athletes, but you don't
know who's going to step up.
Speaker 9 (06:36):
So you give everybody kind of.
Speaker 8 (06:37):
A piece of the pie, and and you kind of
don't really don't stick to you know, the guys who
are going to take you all the way, but you
don't know who these guys are yet. So it's kind
of a double edged sword a little bit. But no,
we got to, you know, we gotta find out who's
the best guys and who's who's going to be the
tough nose guys that will get us through in this league.
You know, it was disappointing a little bit just to
(06:59):
I thought we needed more or fight on offense, you know,
we did get banged up, but you know, you take
away a couple of those guys from last year's team
who were our kind of our tough nose dudes, and
now you're trying to pass the buck on.
Speaker 9 (07:14):
Now you're the tough note dudes. And and so we'll
get there. There's no doubt in my mind.
Speaker 8 (07:20):
It was just disappointed that, you know, we didn't have
more of that on Saturday.
Speaker 9 (07:24):
And and I have.
Speaker 8 (07:26):
That kind of that, like I told my halftime to
squich dry bros. Donald look pissed off instead of giving
me the dinning the head like, look, you know, we
can't have that. But again, you get that with inexperienced
players that are older but they haven't seen a lot
of reps yet because the twenty eth seniors took them
away from him last year.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Which is you know, when you talk about inexperience, as
we look at this week, getting any chance to go
on the road, and I know it's not a terribly
long road trip right going to Saint Paul, but how
much is it, you know, with the inexperience where these
guys now get a chance to do a road game,
to do a road kind of routine basically right now.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Obviously it's a late game.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
As well, So you know, what is that process like,
especially for the guys maybe who didn't travel or this
is their first time traveling for a college game, to
kind of get them into the swing of things and
figure out how to play you know, this game, you
know at this level on the road, you know, an
hour away from home.
Speaker 8 (08:18):
Yeah, you know, there's a couple of things with road games. Uh,
for one, the proximity it's not very far down the road,
but it isn't considered a road game, right So I
like kind of the road games where you gotta get
away overnight and really kind of you don't see each
other in a different light, I guess, but no, not.
You know, non con road games are good because, like
(08:38):
you said, first time travelers, sometimes people are better on
the road because there's not as so many people on
the sidelines and you can just concentrate on the core
group and and it's easier to rally the troops when
there's only when there's not as many. So you know,
we'll find out real quick. I mean in this league too,
is if we're a road team or a home team,
or hopefully we're both. But you know, we fed two
(09:02):
non cons ready at home, and so we know we
only have three more home games. So if we look
at it that way, we're gonna if we have five
on the road right now and three at home, so
we're gonna have to get used to the road pretty quick.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
This Northwestern team, you mentioned it in our post game
show last week, is you know, they come from the UMAC,
which maybe isn't you know, as powerful of a conference,
but they have won that league number of times recently.
And you know, a team that knows how to win,
regardless of the talent level or what they you know,
bring to the table is a team that you obviously
have to be ready for and potentially be worried about
(09:36):
as well. So what kind of things do you expect
to see from them here on Saturday?
Speaker 8 (09:42):
I mean, I think you take your same approach, no
matter what the record is, to every game. We gotta
shut down what they do best and and uh, you know,
try to move football. This week, we get there's a
ton we got to clean up on. So you know,
we just got to play our game and get back
to finding it rhythm before conference hits. And this is
(10:02):
your last chance before a conference hits. So you know,
I think every I'm not sure all the teams are
in the WIC all banged up. Everybody is, but you're
always gonna get the nicks and bruises. Where it is
nice to go play a game and then have a
bye week before you hit conference, so hopefully we can
get your body heeled up and go into full strength
and because then it becomes another warper game, it's gonna
(10:23):
be a war. It's gonna be a battle, it's gonna
be hard hitting and and and that's every week.
Speaker 9 (10:29):
So uh, it'll be it'll be a fun year.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
I imagine that's kind of nice.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Part of having a bye week next week is that
you don't maybe guys don't look ahead toward the Oaklare
game as much knowing that there's a week off, right
and it's it's it's two weeks away, not just one
week away. With that as well, that's might be a
little bit of a beneficial standpoint from a from a
mental standpoint as well.
Speaker 8 (10:49):
Yeah, you know we'll get then following week, we'll get
on we'll jump on them early and stuff, and I'm
sure they will do the same for us. And but
what it does is just gives your body time to recover.
It's amazing if you just take two or three days
off that these guys come back like, well, I feel
like a million bucks. And there's been beat down for
so long, you know, August thirteenth when we reported, and
(11:10):
you start August fourteenth practice, and it's a long, it's
a it's this is kind of the halfway point of
the year. The season is our bye week, so yeah,
it's just it's all comes down to take care of
the body now and who can who can stay healthy
the longest usually in college football.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
All right, we appreciate taking the time looking forward to
this game against Northwestern and good luck coach.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
You bet, thank you, Our thanks to head coach Clayton
Birmingham for joining us on the Bob and Steves beat
Pmaco shops, pregame show, starting lineups and more are coming

You ever wonder why Verizon charges twice as much as

This is the pregame show with the Voice of the
Blue Devils on Newstalk WMQ.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I'm back here once again from Saint Paul, Minnesota on
the campus of Northwestern University in reynolds Field. We are
getting ready for Football Betweet South and Northwestern final line.
Come game of the year, there come the Blue Edlands
take in the field and there's a big time contingent
of Blue Devil faithful here. Could have made the trip
just about an hour away from the Nominee West to
the Twin Cities. Yeah, the Blue Devils will bring the
(13:15):
American flag, the trident, the Devil's sport if you will,
and the sledgehammer onto the field with them to the
far sideline. You'll get the anthem here in just a moment.
Through the starting lineups as well, a couple of changes
up on the offensive line for the Blue Devils. It
will be Jackson Building who will start at left tackle.
Ben Biscoll heard he is in street clothes on the
(13:35):
sideline today. Sam Brie at the left guard. T J
Scott back in there after being ejected in last week's
game against Wartburg. Will Nordstrom will get the start over
Andrew David at the right guard spot. Another injury situation there.
Dalton Mondo is the starter at right tackle as well.
The receivers are Kate Tappan, Apron Carter and DeVante Evans.
Adament is your quarterback. Chase Hughes starts at running back.
(13:57):
Wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of Chandler
Ross today. Saw a lot of him in warm ups
as well. Get the half back position for the Devils
on defense, a couple changes there also. Drew Sure will
start along with Drew Schneider, Blaine side out and Gabe Kramer.
Bratson Money Kaison is in the two deep, but he's
not getting to start today. It will be the Goodman
Brothers at cornerback and strong safety, and Gavin Dawson respectively.
(14:21):
Jesse Ella's at the other corner, Brooks Brewer at the
free safety spot, Matt Blank Mocker Byral Daniel Walker the
men upfront for the Blue Devils today. The starting quarterback
for the Northwestern Eagles is Basil Demko. He is a senior,
but he is just eleven of twenty eight in his
first two games for only one hundred and thirty four yards.
It's a thirty nine point three percent completion percentage as
(14:44):
well as one touchdown two interceptions for him on the season.
National lot and I mentioned in our lead in here
the fact that he is at eighty six yards rushing.
He's going to be the guy. I think they have
to rely on. Also. Will Schleiker is the other man,
the tight end junior at six two two thirty five
for reception this season, but he's the guy to watch.
He is one of their better receivers here for at
Northwestern as well. Trey Almer a good receiver as well.
(15:07):
We'll keep our eyes certainly on him. Defensively for this
Northwestern team, they're giving up four hundred and forty three
yards per game, and so it'll be Ta j Davis,
Michael Montoya, Jonathan Eder up front. They do play a
three to four similar to the Blue Devils in that way,
Getton Kruver, Jaden Goodwin Ian aren't Evan Sikorski. The linebackers
Eli Werner Clay Fee are the cornerbacks. Wes Schlaybaugh and
(15:31):
Austin Arndt are the two safeties. We are going to
get the coin toss before the national anthem. It's unlike
the WIAC so we will get the coin toss first.
Let's turn it over to our head referee, Matt Papke
for the announcement of the coin toss here before the
national anthem. Captain is at midfield. Beautiful night, little cloudy,
(15:54):
but run around seventy degrees. He should be a beautiful
night for football here this evening. The conversation happening is
not happening on the PA as we would like it too.
You got to flip that microphone on there, mister Papki
and a dollar.
Speaker 13 (16:06):
There's the head, there's a tail.
Speaker 14 (16:08):
There's a tail. There's the head and the visitor.
Speaker 13 (16:11):
What's your call? Heads is the call.
Speaker 14 (16:15):
Is ahead.
Speaker 13 (16:17):
You've won the toss. You want the ball, but Jays
want to kick, all right, Flipper around, guys.
Speaker 14 (16:25):
Stout, I get to receive on this end of the field, all.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Right, Stout. One of the tosses. You can hear they
did elect to receive. They want the ball right away.
They want to get they want to get the scores
on the board early. Here. Again, there may be a threat,
and it really isn't a threat of whether we thought
maybe there's a chance for some raine earlier today. But
we look like we will be in good shape. Not
a ton of wind here. Uh. The field moves from
(16:50):
south to north, right to left, north south coast left
or right as we look out toward the east, back
towards Menominee from our broadcast perch, and again really know
when to speak, that the lights are on. This is
one of just two night games for the Blue Devils
this season. The other would be on a Friday night
against UW Whitewater. Coming up in about them all. The
(17:11):
playing in the national anthem here from.
Speaker 14 (17:14):
Prayer from UNW Director of Athletics, doctor Matt Hill, followed
by the playing of our national anthem.
Speaker 15 (17:21):
Please join me in prayer. Heavenly Father, thank you for
this day. What a beautiful day you've given these two
teams to showcase their talents on this field. We pray God,
you to go before these men as they battle on
the field, keep them safe. They pray God that all
you see down here glorifies you. Help us Lord to
compete with purpose and to glorify you today in Jesus name.
Speaker 16 (17:43):
Amen.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Now there's your national anthem here from Reynolds Field in
Saint Paul, Minnesota, just north of downtown Minnesota. You're just
up Snelling, just just north of the fairgrounds, of course,
Minnesota State Fairgrounds, which we're bustling just a few weeks ago. Now,
quiet is this arena, this football stadium is not. It'll
(19:24):
be an exciting one here and we're happy to have
you along with us on Newstock wm q A M
and ady Me nominee translator W two nine two E
g oh Claire one O six point three FM and
iHeartRadio Station. A special thanks as always Sai Dan Price
back in studio for bringing you the sounds of tonight's game.
Blue Devils will receive the move left to right here
to start this game, your officials for today's game, we
(19:45):
mentioned the referee Mike Matt Papki. Tom Hoole is the umpire,
Brett Hoofin Dick is the headline judge, Jordan Krueger is
the line judge, Jeff Strack is the side judge, or
Alf Bibigger is the field judge, and Zach Jackson is
the back judge. Back to return here for the Blue
Devils DeVante Evans along with Jojo James, and the kickoff
(20:10):
will come from Gideon coouver A. Pardon me, Michael Montoya,
rather go it is getting Kruger, Who's out there to
kick this one away for Northwestern Ready for football Northwestern
rights and left stout left or right, Game three of
the twenty twenty five season. Here we go down the field,
near side of that ball is going to take an
Award bounce set up for Evans at the fifteen fifteen
(20:31):
yard line. He's got a huge hole of the thirty
five turns on the Jets spins at the forty five.
Then he's up near midfield, taken down at the Stout
forty eight yard line. Big time return up thirty three
yards from the Blue levels and Stout's got great field
position to start it off here. Tonight mentioned before the
game that the Blue Devils are trying to make it
a perfect day for the WIAC six, and oh so
(20:55):
far on the day Stout playing tonight, Steven's Point took
a trip all the way out to Oregon for their
game tonight, so they'll be the last one tonight. They
don't start till eight o'clock Central time as well, so
that's how things set up for today. We're ready, though,
happy to have you along with the Stout. We'll have
that a Mowen under center, one receiver left, one to
the right, send Evans in motion off on the left
(21:16):
side near the line. They'll give the handoff right up
the gut to Ross and Ross falls across the fifty
to the three nine up Northwestern for a three yard game.
The ball placed at the Stout forty eight yard line
to start the game, and off we go. So it's
say second and seven for the Blue Devils after their
own Brook Chandler Ross second. Ben Tolkienen has come in
as running back now here, first out. First time we've
(21:38):
seen Ben Tolkienen, who has featured quite a bit last
year at the running back spot. He's in the pistol
with Mohen right now, one receiver left, one right. Evans
to the right, goes in motion to the left. Carter
is over there to left the role of the left. Mowen
looks to throw, it is caught at the forty yard
line by Carter and he's pushed out of bounds near
the thirty eight yard line on the far side by
Clay Feet, and the Blue Devils have a first down
(21:59):
to the thirty seven yard line on that reception. That
is an eleven yard game and a first down for Stout,
and they want to go up tempo here to start
things off. Carter left, Evans right pistol formation again and
Stout will take the snap. They were stopping them from
taking the snap even though they did not sub which
is kind of interesting. Tolkien And gets hit in the
backfield shooting the gap is Jayden Goodwin, the linebacker, and
(22:21):
he trips him up for a one yard loss back
to the thirty eight yard line. So one yard loss
of the thirty eight That is a second and eleven
now first out twelve tackles so far this season for
Jaden Goodwin, they may give him eleven now and anvils
will send I think DeVante Evans has gone in Now
is a running back and he is offset to the
left of mowing In the shatka. Now though sun Evans
(22:44):
out in motion to the left side of the formation.
As he now sets three receivers off to the right,
nobody in the backfield. Mowen throws left. Evans makes the
catch at the thirty three, dancing around, makes this a
move on the twenty five yard line and goes out
of bounds. What a movie made on Clay Fee, the
junior corner that left side juked him out of his shoes.
Fee caught up with him to push him out of bounds,
(23:05):
but not before he got to the twenty four yard
line and a first down for the Blue Devils. They're
moving the ball well here to start our stout, and
now Chase Hughes is back in as a tailback. As
Mowen goes up to the line, He's got Carter also
has a tailback offset to his right. Kind of a
pro shotgun formation there. Evan's out wide right along with
Keon Maggott as well. Send a man in motion here
(23:26):
left to right. The tight end Mohen waits the snap.
He will give it to Hughes. No, he fakes it
to him. Goes out to Carter. They got the screen
set up at the twenty. Turns on the Jackson gets
tripped up across the fifteen. Take it down out near
the thirteen yard line. The corner Eli Werner on the tackle,
but that is another first down all the way to
the thirteen yard line. That's an eleven yard game. The
Blue Devils are in the red zone and knocking on
(23:48):
the doorstep here up Northwestern with twelve thirty two left
to play, first quarter and no score between Stout and Northwestern.
Here in the third week of this twenty twenty five season.
Mowen asking for the snap. He'll take it. He'll throw
it out left. Carter catch at the fifteen, got a
block at the ten, makes some moves and spins at
the eighth, then taken down right at the eight, maybe
the seven yard line. We'll see where they give him
(24:09):
poor progress to. He made a couple of men miss
right away, and then it was Drake Lindberg who came
off and finished off the tackle at the eighth. We
got Austin arn also on the tackle. Five yard games
second and five from the eight yard line of the Eagles.
Northwestern again in the UMAC winning that conference last year,
but one two to start the year, and UMACK has
(24:30):
been kind of known football wise as a pretty weak conference.
So stout feeling pretty good about their chances. Here's Ross
is the running back, and they will give it to
them up the gut. Counters to the right, drags a
tackler across the five, and he's down near the four
yard line. Is holding on for dear life. Was Michael
Montoya and he is very close to the first out.
I think he's about a yard short at the force
(24:51):
and be third and one for the Blue Devils at
the four yard line of Northwestern at the end to
our right, the Blue Devils wearing the all white uniforms.
White helme. It's the blue numbers, blue Blue Devils down
the pants as well, the Eagles rather are all in
black tonight purple numbers on those outlined in white purple
helmets as well. Eleven to ten left to go, first quarter.
(25:11):
It's third and one from the four yard line. Mowen
goes under center and he will give it to Ross.
Ross up the gut. He's got the first pushing the pile. Touchdown,
Blue Devils. Chaylor Ross powers it into the end zone
and Chandler Ross has his second touchdown of the season
and Stout has a six nothing lead here over Northwestern
(25:32):
with eleven oh two left to go in quarter number one.
Chandler Ross powering at Ford. Chandler Ross six foot two,
twenty fifty yards on ten carries. In his first two games.
He did not do much last week. If he was
limited with injury, we didn't get an update on that,
but nonetheless he had a great first week against Ubuke
and a good start to this game. It's Garrison Jack
(25:53):
Ben on to attempt the extra point snap spot kick
up and the kick is good. Seven to nothing, Blue
Devils with to go first quarter. We come back after
this on your home for Blue Double Football.

Welcome back here to Reynolds Field in North Saint Paul, Minnesota.
It's a seven to nothing lead for the Blue Devils
as Stout marches at downfield to start the game here
against Northwestern and drive all the way down on a
fifty two yard opening drive. Looks like the live stats
might be a little bit slow to catch up here,
or at least to start even here tonight, so we'll
(27:05):
get those all situated here at some point. As here
comes a kick downfield from Jackman and a fair catch
call for it the two. They'll bring that out to
the twenty five. Then here for the Eagles, and we'll
see the Eagles on offense for the first time, and
it's to be a chance here for the stout defense
to really get things going for the Blue Devils. This
is an opportunistic defense, and while they didn't get a
(27:26):
whole lot of turnovers last week against Wartburg, a team
that has five interceptions in their first two games, they
forced three fumbles and recovered one. They're allowing just ninety
two yards on the ground and I think Ashton Lofton's
probably going to be one of the main contributors today
for this Eagles team. So if they can't get him going,
you have a pretty good feeling that the Blue Devils
(27:48):
will be in good shape today. Eleven h two left
to go, first quarter and it is first and ten
from their own twenty five right to left, go to
the Eagles on the far hash mark two receivers right
two to the left, fake the handoff. They look to
go deep oh Man wide open communication from the Blue
Devils and down the right side, Brandon Little is going
to take it in seventy five yard touchdown. What in
the world happened on the defense? There a miscommunication on
(28:10):
that right side. That was Ellis and Brewer's side of
the deepfense, and they were looking run instead. It was
the red pass option and little was wide open, and
it's a extra point away from being tied with ten
forty nine left to go in the first quarter. That
wasn't good by any means. Holy cow. Just a second
(28:34):
touchdown pass of the season for Basil Dempko, the quarterback
for this Eagles team go from Ontana, Wisconsin, Bigfoot, and
I had to attempt the extra point as we get
a whistle and a false start on the extra point
here by Northwestern and Daniel Homitch the kicker in today,
(29:00):
the freshman from andover Minnesota. He's getting the duties over
Gideon Kruver, who's kicked him so far this season. The
headline judge came in said it was a false start.
Now the officials are talking about it here. Let's hear
the call.
Speaker 13 (29:13):
Stuck offense number ten.
Speaker 14 (29:16):
It's a five. We'll retrack a.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Little bit Crackley over there, but it is a false
start on Isaiah Voss and so Homage to attempt the
extra point and he'll kick this one from the fifteen
yard line. So a big hitter for the Eagles to
start and the Blue Devils defense, I'm gonna have to
lock it in after that play. Imagine that should open
(29:40):
up their run game a little bit. The next time
they're out there, snap spot kick is up and it
is just through that far upright. Seven to seven are
score ten to forty nine. Left you over first quarter. Well,
let's forget that touchdown and see what the offense can
do after this here in your home for blue double football.
Speaker 18 (29:55):

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Welcome back here to Northwestern University. Here on the campus
of Northwestern Saint Paul, Minnesota. Seven seven are score ten
to forty nine. Left to go between Stout and the
Northwestern Eagles. A one pass, seventy five yarder from dem
Goo to Little and that gets the Eagles on the board.
As the Blue doubles coverage breaks down, gets blown on
(30:56):
that far side and Little nothing but green sort of
greenish blackish turf. It looks like the pellets haven't quite
fallen through all the turf y had here at Northwestern.
This kick right down the middle is going to go
all the way into the end zone Toojo James will
let that roll through with the ball and be taken
out to the twenty five yard line. The Blue Devils
(31:17):
were expecting that ball to be kicked to one of
the returners and for it to go right down the
middle of the hash mark. They weren't expecting it, and
they just let it roll through the back of the
end zone. So twenty five yard line for the Blue Devils.
They moved the ball well on their first drive. You'd
have no reason to think they won't continue to move
the ball well. But that first blown coverage a little
bit concerning for stouts defense, and I'm sure a lot
(31:37):
of them gonna be itching at the bit. Travis desk
Dash and Clay Birmingham will be in the are ear
and talking about what just happened there. I'm sure they
probably already figured out what happened. I doubt that that
will happen again ross the tailback in the pistol here
with Mowen, they'll send Evans in motion up near the line.
They'll give it to Ross. No, they will give it
on an end around to Carner trying to get to
the near side. Spins and take it down across from
(31:59):
thirty to the thirty one yard line, maybe the thirty
two tackle by Clay Fee and others, and it will
be about a six to seven yard game. On first down,
they give it around the edge there to Carter after
a fake handoff to Ross right up the gut. Have
me faked out, that's for sure. Jojo James comes in
as a receiver. Now four receivers set three left, one right.
(32:21):
James is on his own to the right, Evans out
wide left, Carter and Tappan in the slot to the left.
Nobody in the backfield with Moen. They're showing blitz. They'll
bring the blitz. They'll throw it quickly. He catch made
by James. It's a first und put them on their side.
Oh my goodness, turn on the Jets. Make a move
at the forty and he's out about bottle late hit
two late hit, and there's no foul flag calling absolutely
(32:41):
crazy laid hit there by Austin. Aren't no flag. But
what a play by Jojo James to get into the
thirty eight yard line. And it was just a little hesitation,
a little juke back at the thirty five forty yard
line and he gets an extra twenty twenty five yards
out of it up to the thirty eight yard line
of the Eagles of Northwestern out moves it directly into
their territory right away. So a nice move there. Now,
(33:04):
Adam Mowing checking the playoff here and it's with thirteen
seconds left on the play clock. He will break the huddle.
One receiver left, one right. The man is Evans, so
the right he goes in motion again, Histol formation with
Hughes is a tailback, give it to Hughes, flee thick
flicker here it comes Mullen gonna go deep, Evans wide
open cut puch down Blue Devils flea flicker with say
(33:26):
shoes and Bullen's and Emmons. It's thirteen to seven, Blue Devils,
nine twenty eight left to go in quarter number one.
A little bit of the old trickery and the old trickeration,
the flea flicker and the Blue Doubles get it in
on the mowing to Evans catch first touchdown of the
season for Dante Evans after a great year last year.
(33:48):
Where's Patrick Corkoran who had the great season receiving last
year for the Blue Dovels now receivers coach, And I'm
sure loving what he saw there on that play, they
snap the spot, the kick is up and the kick
is good from Garrison Jackman. It's fourteen to seven at
the late nine twenty eight left to go first quarter.
We're back right after this here on your home for

Welcome back here to Northwestern University. Here on the campus
of Northwestern Saint Paul, Minnesota. It is a nine to
twenty eight left to go in the first quarter, a
fourteen to seven lead for the Devil's Adam o and
six of six so far for one hundred and ten
yards and a touchdown. The flee flicker gets the touchdown
there to Evans for thirty eight yards, and here comes
the kick down field and that will fly into the
(35:12):
end zone and be a touchback, and once again the
Eagles will bring it out to the twenty five yard
line to start their offense after a good kick from
Garrison Jackman. One little wrinkle here at Northwestern. I thought
it was interesting when the warm ups they have the
NFL style goal posts here. These those are the goal
posts that go up. I don't know how high they
go up. They got at least be in the twenty
(35:34):
five foot range somewhere in there. They're higher than your
typical college football goal posts need to be. And so
I thought it was kind of a fun look here
Scursa not too far away from both Huntington Bankes Stadium
for the Gophers and US Bank Stadium for the Vikings
as well. And they've got the NFL style there. So
here comes the handoff right up the gut to the
twenty five and nothing else. Praxicton money KUIs and makes
(35:57):
the stop after a one yard game on Ashton Lockton
on that, and I'd imagine the safeties are going to
be staying back most of this drive, not trying to
get caught out like they were on that last first
play from scrimmage and the Basil Deempko shots and breading Little.
Everybody biting on that repass option and there was nobody
left to guard Little down the far sideline. Send two
(36:19):
receivers out to the left. That's Ulmer along with Tate
Weston shotgun here for Basil Dempko, he's got loft into
his left. He'll fake the handoffs slant route, throws it
out left side. What a catch by the tight end
at the twenty eight thirty five ball pops out and
the Blue Devils try to jump on and they're going
to say that Will Schleicher was down down a yard
(36:39):
short there he kind of came down, got offended, fell
on his helmet and that was when he lost the ball.
But the helmet made him down. And now a Blue
Devil down there on that tackle, I think that's Kevin
good The Blue Devils will attend to him. He is
a yard shirt. In fact, about now two football links
short of the first down where he went down just
to pass the thirty four yard line. On that catch,
(37:01):
it was a great one handed gram. Wil Schleiker is
I think arguably the best receiver on this Eagles team
and a very solid tight end at six foot two,
two thirty five. It wouldn't be surprised if he's the
first team or tight end in the UMAC by the
time and this season is over. Let's hope that Gavin
Goodman is all right. Dawson Goodman, his brother from chai Hi,
(37:21):
is our halftime guest as well. Had a chance to
talk about playing for the legendary Chuck Raikovich there for
the Cardinals and chai Hi, and I'm not sure what happened,
maybe some friendly fire or something like that. The initial
tackle didn't look terribly bad. Gavin Goodman, it's up seems
to be okay. And is walking off under his own power.
(37:44):
So that's a good sign for the Blue Devils, and
the Eagles are just a half a yard away from
a first down just past their thirty four yard line.
On third and short, send two receivers out to the
right Depko will go in the pistol formation with Lofton
as his tailback, and the Blue Devils might sell out
a little bit for the run here, but it's hard
to do that after what happened on the first drive.
(38:05):
It's fourteen to seven, stout, handoff to Lofton, hit my
money kuys it. He's drop for a two yard loss
back to the thirty three yard line. They're gonna give
him almost the thirty four, but he's gonna lose yardage
about a whole yard in the end, and the Eagles
will have to come out to punt and Braxton money
kuys and shooting the gap. Came into the game with
eight total tackles and a tackle and a half for loss,
(38:27):
and you can give them another one there on that
one is it's fourth and two here for the Eagles
at their own thirty three, and they will pump this
one away. Avaran Carter standing in his own thirty four
yard line is Will Schleiker the tight end. He also
gets the punting duty. Stuff. Looks like they want to
bring the block formation. They will bring a lot of
pressure and they budget they do get to it the
scoop and is down back at the seventeen yard line.
(38:51):
What a scoop for Kyler Lamb who comes in and
makes the recovery. And then see who got the initial
hand on it. Kyler Lamb with the recovery on the
black punt and the Blue Devils have it in the
red zone with seven forty four left to go here
in the first quarter. It's fourteen to seven. Blue Devils
lead it and they've got a chance to make it
a two score game. Well, you could see right before
(39:17):
that ball was snaffed that the Blue Devils defense and
punt unit there was gonna bring the pressure. The Eagles
did nothing to adjust to it, and it was just
a wall of white jerseys coming right at Schliker. The punter.
Mowen will go under center with Ross behind him, two
tight ends offset left. Six seconds left on the playblot
Evans goes in motion. It is a fake handoff. Here
(39:38):
Mowen rolling to his left looking toward the end zone.
They want to fade that one for Evans in the
back corner. It's incomplete. He was the only guy opened.
The other man who was close to it was Cole Land,
who is the other option kind of on that roll
out to the left, the backup tight end, and he
was covered pretty well. So the only option was to
kind of fade it to the back corner. And that's
(39:59):
a tough throw to make and it was a little
overthrown out of the end zone. They gets second and
ten from the Eagles seventeen yard line. Ball on the
near hash mark. As they move left to right, three
receivers left, one to the right. The tailback is Miles Burke,
the freshman. Now it's a fourth different running back we've
seen for the Blue Devils. Back to past. Mowen looks
right the entire way, throws ball caught out of bounds
inside the ten yard line, goes key On Maggott his
(40:21):
first catch of his season and in a blue double
uniform as the freshman. That's an eleven yard game. That's
a first out is Seve gets marked at the six
yard line here on the near sideline, and once again
we'll see Ben Tolkien in in as running back here
as well. The only guys on the depth chart, at
least on my chart that I have that haven't ran
yet are Zoe McDowell and l Ralstad. In fact, he's
(40:44):
not even gonna get running back duties. They're going to
send him out as a receiver now. They're going to
go with a big formation here. Bring everybody up close
to the line. It will be Carter and Evans who
split out to the right, Tolkien in the tailback. Five
seconds to take the snap. Bowen gonna keep it himself,
runs it up the gut to the five, turning to
the four, and then pushed backwards. And now a little
toush push there from TJ. Scott. We're gonna give him.
(41:06):
Let's see four progress to about the three. A three
yard game. Second in goal from the three here for
the Blue Devils stout fourteen in northwestern seven six forty
two left to play here in the first quarter. Yeah,
the Blue level's in good shape at the moment. After
that block punt, trying to go in for their third
touchdown of the quarter, Bowen goes under center. He's got
(41:28):
Chandler Ross's tailback. Two tight ends back to three tight
ends lined up on the right side of the formation.
Evans out on his own to the left, the fake,
the handoff the roll of the right, looking for Ross
instead back corner catch made, toe tap touchdown. Blue Devils.
Paul Arland, the sophomore tight end, with his first reception
as well in the Blue Devil uniform. He's got the touchdown.
(41:51):
The Blue Devils have a twenty to seven lead over Northwestern.
Was six fifteen to go in quarter number one. Like
everybody thought they were going with the underpass Ross the
tailback out of that rollout to the right, and they
forgot about Finland, who was just kind of, you know,
got lost in the back couple of yards of the
end zone. And he toe tapped right in the back
corner for the touchdown onto a tap. The extra point
(42:14):
is Garrison jackman ohing is this the holder or the yeah?
The holder? Excuse me? Kick is up and the kick
is good from Jack Minut's twenty one to seven Blue
Devils with the lead. First starner come back after this

Speaker 3 (43:08):
Welcome back here to Northwestern University or in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Stout twenty one Northwestern seven six fifteen to go, first
quarter as Adam mhen a touchdown pass of three yards
to cap off that drive after the block punt. He
is eight of nine so far in the game, two touchdowns,
one hundred and twenty four yards and a touchdown reception.
Now for both DeVante Evans and Cole filand the new
(43:31):
tight end for the Blue Devils this season is see
Jackman with the run up and the kick and a
deep one. That one is again going to come out
for a touchback? Is that is going to go back
through the back of the end zone. And of course
in college football you don't have the new kickoff rules
that you have in the NFL, so you can still
just you know, kick the absolute you know what out
of the ball and let it sail through the back
(43:52):
and the ball comes out to the twenty five. You
don't have to worry about it coming out a little
further than that. And so the twenty five yard line
is where the Eagles will get underway of the Blue
Devils defense with a good stand on their last drive again,
racks some money kuys and getting a stop on third
and one and then the block punt setting up the
Blue Devils inside the red zone on that last drive
(44:13):
as well. So Depco will go in the shotgun. Here
he has lofton to is right, two receivers left, one
to the right. Hard count almost set his own men
and a false start. Here comes the pressure throws over
the middle, catch made at the thirty and across the
thirty five. Here the thirty seven yard line tackle by
Brooks or will Schniker, but at the reception the tight
(44:34):
end gets it up to the thirty eighth. That'll be
again of thirteen. He took a big hit to bassled Dempco.
Now Depco for a college quarterback, and we get it.
It's Division three, so you're not seeing you know, the
six foot two types of quarterbacks six three quarterbacks received
in Division one. But he's just five foot ten. He
is a smaller quarterback for the Division III level, and
(44:55):
he was able to get it over top of that
pressure coming two receivers to the left. Lofton gets the handout.
There is nothing doing up the middle. He gets hit
and pushed backwards after a one yard game of the
thirty nine yard line. See who was at the bottom
of that pile. I think you'll give the tackle there
to Hunter's scathe who was at the bottom of it
for the Blue Devils.
Speaker 14 (45:12):
Number nine, Christian Marquez.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
Marquez, pardon me with the carrier, rather, He's got twelve
carry's on the season, but only eleven yards. Marquez the
backup running back. He and Sergeant Keaton. Sergeant Rather is
the other backup running back as well. They just brought
in Marquez as we took under five minutes left to play.
First quarters. Now twenty one Northwestern seven A high scoring
(45:36):
affair here in the first quarter so far, second and
nine from the thirty nine yard line. Demp go back
to pass pressure coming he's hit that is dropped as
the Eagle offensive line could not stop the wave of
white coming at him. And it's Owen Christo who gets
the sack. There man and others there as well. Scape
is gonna be given the tackle as wells first man there.
(46:01):
And it'll be third and fifteen after a six yard
loss on the sack, and the Blue Devils in good
shape to get the punt away here from the Eagles
if they can get a stop. Two receivers go left,
one out to the right. The right is brain Little.
He had the touchdown reception on the first play of
the game for Northwestern, and Demko looking left, just a
four man rush, he throws, it's incomplete. He almost through
(46:22):
it to Daniel Locker, the lineman as they were trying
to set up a screen. A little bit of extra
pushing and shoving which will not result in any yellow
laundry on the field, and it'll be fourth and fifteen,
back at their own thirty three yard line, and the
punt unit is out, and they're talking about who was closest.
They're actually going to say that Marquez was the closest
to it and was in the area so that there
(46:44):
was not intentional ground these. So the Blue Devils will
have Avron Carter back at his own thirty five ish
yard line, and again the tight end in Schleiker is
the punter standing inside his own twenty about the nineteen
yard line. Four fourteen have to go. First quarter, it's
stout twenty one Northwestern seventh. I've set a man in
(47:04):
motion to try to get a block their Schliker a
high snap, he runs to a right kind of rugby style,
kicks it away from Carter on the far sideline, goes
out of bounds near the thirty yard line. Extra pushing
and shoving here after the play as well between Ben
Tolkienen and one of the up blockers there for Northwestern
as well. It looked like Eric who was the man
(47:28):
who was getting into it. Ben Tolkienen on the special
teams unit. Ball goes out of mounds near the thirty
That is a affect exactly where they're gonna market at
the thirty yard line, and so a punt of thirty
six yards for Schliker and the Blue Devils offense back
out again up twenty one to seven, and a mowing
in the shotgun. He's got Chase Hughes behind him Carter
(47:48):
out to the left, Evans outlined to the right, and
they'll send the two tight ends off set right now,
first and ten from the thirty. Evans goes in motion
up near the line and the snap is finally taken
and they'll fake the handoff. They'll fake the end around.
Moen gonna kind of shovel it out on an option
play to Carter has to make a move at the
thirty and then gets up near the thirty five before
(48:10):
he is gang tackled and actually pushed forward for a
yard or two six yard line Averrin Carter with the
shovel pass there, same option, same play that they ran
earlier when they handed it off to Carter on the
end around. This time they faked the end around. I
think he was looking deep for Evans was Mohen It
wasn't open, and instead he just rolled out with it
and almost turned it into an option play with Carter
(48:32):
who was running around the right side, and he ends
up with a six yard carry up to the thirty
six yard line. One receiver left, one right again for
the bo Devils. Evans on the right side goes in
motion to the left pistol formation Tolken. It is a
tailback and they will roll to the left will mow
and Mowen passes out left. It is incomplete, a bad throat.
He had carter and just threw it short right into
the turf, all right, that is feet there incomplete. That
(48:59):
was Jayden Edwin who was the closest man to him.
And it's third and four for Stout with three twenty
to go in the first quarter. It's twenty one to
seven Blue Devils here on Northwestern trying to make some noise.
But I'll tell you what. For my money, Blue Devils
fans might be outnumbering the Northwestern fans here today. Stands
are full, They're not very big, but there is a
(49:20):
lot of Blue down there tonight for Stout. Snap taking
by Mowen looking over the middle, he throwers ian complete.
It's bat at the line. It was Montoya who got
his hands on it at the line. He was looking
on the left side for Evans would have likely had
him and had a first down. But a good job
at the defensive line to get their hands up and
Moen unable to get it past the defensive line, and
(49:40):
it will be a punt formation here for Stout. So
a couple of punts here after some real wild drives
offensively for both of these teams. Get onto punt is
Brady Preby. He's averaging thirty nine yards per punt so far.
This scene has standing at his own twenty two the
line of scrimming, just the thirty six and back to
(50:03):
receive here is Warner. The kick away from Previou a
bad one, end over end takes us out. Bounce though,
and there's gonna be no return, and it rolls inside
the twenty five yard and it's gonna work out, but
not what Previoy's looking for. Is it gets down at
the twenty three yard line. Yeah, forty three yard pun
in the end ends up working out, but again just
(50:23):
not good off the foot. Luckily returner there for the Eagles,
just not coming up to receive that one and the
end over end, but that one away forty yards. Pretty
sure it's forty three, but maybe Northwestern math is a
little bit different than you know, regular state school math.
I suppose first down here at the twenty three yard line,
(50:45):
they're actually gonna give him the twenty four, So forty
two yards. I guess I was one yard off one
two receivers, so the right epistol formation for Dempco. He
will take the snappy hands it left and nothing doing
a tackle for no gain by Drew Schneider on the
hand off the line often around the left edch second
and ten coming up. As Drew Schnyder gets into the backfield,
(51:05):
it makes the stop. He came in with thirteen total
tackles on the season. A couple tackles for loss that'll
be a no gainer and the ball right on the
near hashmark right to left four to two party two
forty four left to play in the first quarter. It
stout twenty one Northwestern seven Blue Devils so far with
a one hundred and forty yards of offense ninety two
for Northwestern and they only have minus that they have
(51:29):
minus four yards on the ground. Right now, two receivers
of the right they take the handoff dept go rolling
right his sack. He gets hit that should go down
as a sack. Playing side Allen and An into the backfield.
Is he had no time to roll out the red
pass option. He rolled right. I think he wanted to throw,
but there was no space to set up to run
to do anything because Al was into the backfield. It's
(51:50):
a loss back to the nineteen yard line of five
yard loss. Third and fifteen here for the Eagles. Playin
side l the senior leader at the linebacker spot, and
he makes a big stop one receiver right, two to
the left. Heier for the Eagles as Dempko is in
the shotgun with locked into his left all right in
the middle of the hash. Mark Stout moving around on
(52:11):
the defensive line. They want to bring pressure and Staid
they bring just four launch it deep right side. That
is up and beautiful play by Ellis. Great coverage down
the far sideline, a deep pass for little and Ellis
did not get beat this time, and so he gets
a hand on that ball, just staying stride for stride,
a little bit of hand fighting, but a very nice
job by the officials not to throw the flag and
(52:33):
it'll be a fourth and fifteen from their own nineteen
yard line. The punt unit is out here for Northwestern
third punt of the game. One of them has been
blocked and Stout, I'll imagine, is gonna be looking at
their chops here one thirty eight left to go first
scoring twenty one to seven. Stout with the lead all
at the nineteen yard line, and Schlenker is back at
(52:55):
his own five. He will rugby style to the right,
gets it away just in time. Flag on the play.
Carter receives it at the forty forty five. He's got
a whole fifty far side forty five forty and he
has spun down from behind up to the thirty six
yard line. Interesting thing is that flag flew before Carter
received the ball, so unless Stout was yeah, I think
(53:16):
Stout might have been holding even before the ball was
received by Carter. So they will mark that back I
believe to where the kick was received. Let's hear from
Matt Papke. I think.
Speaker 13 (53:32):
During the kick holding Turnteam for one, it's ten yards
from the end of the pick.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
First out from the end of the kick, yeah, not
from the end of the return, and so it will
push out back to their thirty that was received at
the forty, So it will be back to the thirty
yard line for Stout, and so at negates a big
return in what would have been great field positions. So
Stout will have seventy yards in front of them to go.
(53:58):
Let's try to get in for the four I'm in
this game. Aga had a Mowen eight of eleven in
the game so far, one hundred and twenty four yards
for two touchdowns. Avron Carter is the leading rusher at
the moment with thirteen yards on the ground. Chandler Ross
with three carries for eleven so far, three receivers to
the right. Evans is the running back. But he'll motion
(54:18):
out to the left side. And now nobody in the
backfield with Mowen in the shotgun, no one looks left.
Now wants to roll right. There was pressure there. Now
has to roll out. He will throws it across the middle,
caught at the thirty five, forty up to the forty
five and across the forty five and down at the
forty seven yard line. The hockey Playerak, the junior at
six foot two hundred and ten pounds, makes the catch,
(54:39):
gets up to the forty seven, seventeen yard gain first down. Loudops.
Good job by mowing to get around the initial pressure
around the edge. He didn't see it initially and had
to make a quick move. Still rolled out and still
was able to find the pass off from McCabe Devorak
one receiver left one right from their own forty seven
yard line. Chandler Ross is a tailback in the shotgun
pistol formation. He sends Evans in motion right to left
(55:01):
across the formation. Mowen a waits the snap, takes it.
He will fake the handoff, throws it out to Evans
on the left side catch made it the forty five,
spins out of a tackle and pushed out of islands
near the fifty yard line about a three yard gain
as he is pushed out off on the edge by Austin.
Aren't I do Blino? Pardon me? It was Wes Schlayback
was a man out on the edge along with Jaden Goodwin,
who were the closest ones. He'll be second and seven
(55:25):
up to the fifty yard line. Twenty eight seconds remain
here in the quarter. Stout will have to take one
more snap with where the platelock is here before the
end of this first up twenty one to seven second
and seven from the fifty. This is Mowen in the
shotgun pistol formation. He will take the snap, looks left,
catch made by Carter at the forty five. He'll be
two yards short of the first down and Stout will
have a third and two to start the second quarter.
(55:48):
When we come back. Goodwin out there along in the
tackle with Alan Schultz. A good first quarter for the
Blue Devils, eight lead twenty one to seven. The second
quarter starts off in a moment with Stout on a
third and two. Right after this here on your home
for Blue Devils Football.

Speaker 3 (56:42):
Welcome back here to University of Northwestern and North Saint
Paul minist one to seven. Start with the lead on Northwestern.
At the end of one Blue Devils will have a
third coming up from the Eagles forty five yard line
to start this second quarter. I just saw the Eagles
mascot walking around and let me just get on a
soapbox for one moment here, But what is with Division
(57:03):
three mascots not wearing clothes? All right? I mean, you
get this kind of creepy looking eagle, and you know
it's obviously a costume, but you know, put a football
jersey on him, put something on him, because you know,
Blue for the Blue Golds needs that as well. At
least the Blue Level Blaze, the Blue Devil, you know,
wears a Stout shirt or a South jersey at least.
All right, here we go, third and two, pistol formation,
hand off the ross, up the gun. He's got the
(57:24):
first down, He's got more across the forty, across the
thirty five as he rolls down to the thirty four
yard line. Big time game. They're of eleven yards on
third and two. A helmet came off of one of
the Eagles players, so they'll have to have him come
off the field before he can come back out there.
That's Evan Sikorski who made the tackle as well. First down,
(57:45):
Blue levels from the thirty four yard line. As they
now move right to left here in the second quarter,
Stout twenty one Northwestern seven Blue Devils trying to make
it seven to oh to start the day for the
WIAC before Stevens Point gets under way later tonight in Oregon,
and Oshkosh was the last game to get done. I
(58:07):
do believe they beat Roosevelt at home. We'll give you
that updating. A second throw left side, Evans makes a catch,
nice move at the thirty to the twenty five. Almost
slipped on the turf there, didn't get as good of
traction as he wanted. But a quick pop pass near
side to Evans gets him nine yards on first down.
And you can tell all the Eagles just trying to
play a little bit of soft coverage because they don't
want to get beat deep, and so those corners are
(58:29):
playing off the bit. Ata Mohan will take advantage of
that all the time that he can so good start
there he Oshkosh a thirty eight to twenty one winner
over Roosevelt. Till six and zero for the WIAC today.
Stop trying to make it seven to zero. Mowing in
the shotgun formation, looks left the entire way. Nothing. They're
(58:49):
going to roll out to his right looking for Evans
for the sideline catch. Made beautiful catch along the sideline
inside the fifteen yard line, out of ounds at the
thirteen a twelve yard game. That was a bullet from
Mowing on the run out to the right edge, and
there is a lot of soft cushions of space right
now for these receivers to just kind of float into
(59:09):
and Mowen is hitting him right now. It's up there
for the first down, handoff up the middle to chase
ues across the ten and taken down by a couple
of Black jerseys at the six yard line. Seven yard
gain on first down and Stout is up tempo. Here
we go. It's used to the left of Mowing, one
receiver out to the right, two to the left, up
tight on the line. Second and a couple here for
(59:32):
Stout at the six. Mowen gonna roll left, looking toward
the end zone, turns, throws Carter incomplete, trying to throw
that in a spot that only Carter can catch it
down near the turf. It bounces off his hands, really
tough kind of diving catch right at the goal line
toward the near pylon, and it's incomplete, and that will
bring up third and three now for Stout from the
(59:53):
Northwestern six yard line. Thirteen oh three left to go.
Second door sount twenty one Blue Devil's leading by at fourteen.
The Northwestern has just seven. Adam Owen and the shotgun
has Ben Tolkienen as his running back. Now offset right,
two tight ends to the right side of the formation.
Two receivers to the left. That's Evans and Carter. Shotgun
(01:00:15):
here for mowing. Mowen takes he looks now he's gonna
run up the gut looking for the hole. He's got
it to the right side. I think he's got the
first down. Yeah, last surge gets him to the two
on a quarterback keeper to the right, and it will
be a four yard game for the Blue Devils and
a first and goal coming up the right side. Tacko
is made by Jonathan Edter the defensive end and a
(01:00:37):
couple of other Eagles as well, but not before he
gets four when he needed three, first and goal from
the two.
Speaker 14 (01:00:45):
And Austin Arns first.
Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
Going under center. He's got Ross as his tailback, the
power man near the goal line under center, he goes,
takes the snaphand off, Ross bounces right to the end zone.
Touchdown Blue Devil Chandler Ross with his that get touched
down on the ground of the game and the Blue
Devils lead at twenty seven to seven with twelve twenty
one to go, you're in quarter number shoe defense. There's
(01:01:10):
an injured player down. I thought for a moment there
might be a flag as well, but I think that
might just be a piece of gear that's next to him,
or an elbow pad something like that. I think one
of the defensive linemen going down here for the Eagles
as well, and so we will get he's up to
his knees anyway. Looks like he's going to try to
go off the field under his own power. Yeah, we
(01:01:31):
get the offenses back out there here, and just that's
Taj Davis, the freshman defensive tackle, the man up the middle,
the freshman at six foot two hundred and thirty pounds,
coming in with seven total tackles on the seasons of
this game, probably the biggest guy they've got up the
middle on that defensive line in Montoya to thirty seven
as well. But he tries to fill up the middle,
(01:01:51):
and we walked off to the sideline hopefully Okay, so
on to attempt the extra point. Here is Garrison Jackman.
He is three for three today. Now at the end
zone to our left. If there is any win and
there's barely any It's likely helping that the flag is
pretty limp out there in the north end zone. Here's
a snap the spot, the kick is up in, the
kick is good. Over the net. Onto the tennis courts.
(01:02:15):
Party eight seven blue doubles with the lead well twenty
one left to go in the second quarter. Right here
on your home From Blue Doubles.

Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
Welcome back here to Northwestern, the University of Northwestern. Here
in the north Saint Paul the Blue Devils winning or
leading rather it twenty eight to seven over this Northwestern
Eagles team out of the UMAC. Blue Devils get in
with the Chandler Ross touchdown run, his second of the game.
As Blue Devils get set to kick this off with
Garrison Jackman, and once again he has sent it through
(01:03:23):
the back of the end zone on every kicked so
far tonight. This is another good one that will again
sail through the back of the end zone here and
be brought out to the twenty five yard line. I'mbout
this one. We got some cool things sent on from
a former Blue Devil in Jim Gereki, and it's not
along to me by Casey Paridar sid that forty years
(01:03:47):
ago to the day, nineteen eighty five football season at
River Falls, Todd Miles is the anniversary of his fifty
four yard field goal and at the time in the
WSUC the was a conference record and it's still a
WIAC record. It was the longest college field goal in
Wisconsin during the twentieth century. And boy, what a cool
(01:04:08):
thing there. I also got a Leader Telegram article we
read about it as well. So kind of a cool
moment in South history is there's a big time tackle
by Daniel Walker on the run to the left for
Lofton and that's a couple of yard loss on it
back to the twenty three yard line. Lofton getting the run,
and Walker, the senior defensive end, who is I tell
you what I mean, if he can really get his
season going, just for me, one of the more quicker
(01:04:33):
defensive ends in all of the WIAC It's only got
three total tackles. Give him his fourth right there. But
he's another one who's been really great in his career
for the Blue Devils. When he is on, he is
really good. One receiver to left, two to the right
here for Basil Dempko. Dempko takes a handoff, throws it
out left to his tail back. Pitt made in the
backfield and maybe another loss there is books Brew read
(01:04:55):
it like a book ash and Lofton catches that they're
going to give him forward progress maybe back to the
line scrimmage. I think they're just gonna call it a
no gainer. And it's third and eleven back at the
twenty four yard line here for the Eagles. Brooksburger getting
named to the second team All American preseason list. No
game nomine must say junior this season fifteen total tackles,
(01:05:16):
two interceptions, for him as well. Coming into the game.
And Stout keeps this up, I mean there's a good
chance we could see a chance to see the second
third stringers in in the second half. Here for Stout
today against Northwestern, two receivers right, one left, low snap
to Dempco. He's gonna step up and try to run
with this to the twenty five of the thirty takes
that hit from money Kuisen near the thirty yard line,
(01:05:37):
twenty eight yard line there as well to mark him
down maybe the twenty nine five yards scrambled shoulder to shoulder,
the pads crack from money Kuisen and the Blue Devils
will force another punt here from Will Schleiker, Like are
gonna go back and stand around his own fifteen yard line,
Carter at his own thirty four yard line, all on
(01:05:58):
the far hash mark with ten to thirty left to
play in the second quarter, Stout twenty eight and the
Northwestern Eagles seven. Schliker awaiting the snap and he'll take
it rugby style kicks. This one again just misses the
block there that will take a Northwestern bounce across the
(01:06:20):
forty and roll out of bounds. No, it stays in bounds.
And it'll roll all the way down to the thirty
one yard line. Ends up working out pretty well about
a forty yard punt and the Blue Devils will start
at their own thirty one yard line once again with
Adam mohen Luke sedeen is the man who is the
backup quarterback here, and I hope we'll see him before
(01:06:42):
the second half. It's only a three touchdown lead. I
think you need to put a bunch more on the
board before you feel comfortable with putting some of those
second stringers in. So my guess is we won't see
him till the second half. If things continue the way
they are here for the Blue Devils, it will be
three receivers to the left and it's Evans moving out
(01:07:02):
to the right and motion here from Jojo James into
the backfield. They'll fake the handoff to him, throw it
out left side catch made by Devorak. He will try
to split the defense and roll up across the forty
to the forty one yard line. Should be a first
down other market short, that's a really, that's an awful spot.
(01:07:23):
My goodness. The headline judge cup too. I mean, we're
right on the forty yard line. That the Blue Devils
got to and he was almost of the forty two
in their market at the forty and a half. It's
about a yard and a half short of where it
should be and not really sure why, but it's second
and short here for the boot Devils. Nobody in the backfield.
As Carter goes out in motion from the tailback spot
mowing with the shotgun, Snap throws it right Evans with
(01:07:45):
the catch. He's got the first down forty five and
again avoiding tacklers, almost gets to the fifty as he
tiptoes the sideline and the forty nine yard line. That's
a nine yard gain and it's just two big a cushions.
I mean, at some point the Eagles got to get
up on the receivers and press them a little bit,
and if they don't, it's gonna be more of this,
and if they do, Stout's gonna try to go over
(01:08:06):
the top on them. That's kind of what it looks
like now. Three receivers, bunch left, one to the right,
back to past moment they try to bring pressure, doesn't
get there, throw near side James with the catch inside
the forty five, and they'll give him four progress up
to the forty three yard line. There's a gain of
eight on the play'll be second about two here for
the Blue Doubles. Jojo James was the man who lit
(01:08:28):
it up in the first week against the Butt with
a ninety five yard kickoff return for a touchdown. It's
twenty eight to seven here, Blue Doubles leading eight fifty
to go second quarter and mowing in the shot got
to game with Chandler Ross back in his tailback as
in the pistol. Evans to the left, Carter to the right.
Evans goes in motion left to right here on the
near hash Mark Moen awaits the snap takes it looks
(01:08:49):
right the entire way looking for Carter and said pumps
Carter looking to go deep. They'll throw it to Evans
tiptoes again on a sideline inside the thirty yard line
with a great catch and out of bounds at themes
nine yard line. That is a fourteen yard game in
a first down. And again the Eagles just unable to
keep up with these receivers. Right now for the very
(01:09:09):
impressive what we have seen here from Adam Mowen out
to evanshen now seventeen of twenty two in the game.
Awaiting the snap, they bring the blitz, it's not there.
They throw left, catch made by Carter. He can't make
a move though, and I'll get to the twenty four.
Only just a five yard game. Mowen was hit on
the play, but it is fine. Talk about a fee
(01:09:30):
A little bit behind in our live sets gets you
an update on Mowen's numbers. Here in a moment believe
he is now nineteen of twenty three in this game.
He's over the two hundred yard mark. He's got two
touchdowns through the air as well. DeVante Evans is now
over the one hundred yard mark in this game as well.
Mowen in and under center, three Ton ends left. Ross
(01:09:53):
is the tailback. Evans out wide right under center. He
goes for the snap, takes it and it's a handoff Ross. Ross,
looking for the whole left, will try to bounce it out.
He cannot maybe a yard on the plate of the
twenty three. Good Josh staying home there by the defense.
It was a safety. Austin Art when to come up
to make the tackle and a gain of one makes
it third and about four here for the Blue Devils
(01:10:17):
at the twenty three, they need the nineteen for a
first third and four. They got a third and five
on the board. But yeah, now move it to third
and four, and so Stout up twenty eight to seven,
seven h seven to go in the first half. Stay
tuned at halftime. Dawson Goodman strung safety from Chai Hi
is our featured guest, looking forward to that conversation. Blue
(01:10:38):
devils with some motion. It's Hughes and a tight end
and Mason Frank in the backfield with Mowen pumps left
looking right. Now, we'll throw it out right, catch made
by hugheso he fell over, fell over on the catch.
Too high of a throw over, Houghston, get me falls
over at the thirty. It's gonna be a almost a
six yard loss on the catch. He's better off just
dropping that ball. And I think we might get the
(01:11:00):
field goal. You know, out don't surprise me. Forty seven
yard attempt somewhere in there lost Harrison Jack. I think
this is the point where you could at least try it.
But Stout's gonna run a play here. I mean it's
gonna be fourth and ten from the thirty. They need
to get it inside the twenty, and so it's a
long way to go. But you can't punt from here,
(01:11:21):
and they're not competent to kick from here either. Two
receivers left, one right. Mowen takes a snap, pressure coming,
He'll throw it over the middle for Carter. Catch made.
He got hit hard. It doesn't matter what a catch
down here the five yard line, a deep plant and
he is taken down efficially at the sixth He got
hit hard by Austin Art. It didn't matter what a throw,
what a catch on the deep slant. It's first in
(01:11:42):
goal for the Blue Devils. They mark him down up
the six yard line. It's a twenty four yard game
on third and ten, pardon me on fourth and ten. Rather,
two receivers left, one of the right, fake the handoff
to Hughes. Mowen gonna run it himself, huge hole up
the middle, dances to the end zone. Touchdown down, oh
had on mowing He scampers for his second rushing touchdown
(01:12:04):
of the season, and Stout's got a thirty four to
seven lead with five thirty five left to go. Here
in a half, number one beautiful run per mow and
he saw the middle of the field just open wide up.
After that play action handoff a fake handoff rather and
he said, hey, I've got plenty of space. If I
need to make a move, I can, And he did
(01:12:24):
great move into the end zone. Jackman on to attempt
the extra point high snap. He gets a download is
mowing and the kick is up and it is good.
Thirty five seven. Blue Devils needed fine thirty five lift
to go in the second quarter back after this, they're
on your home for Blue Devils football.

Now the Blue Devils punch it in once again. They
lead thirty five to seven. Here over the Eagles of
the University of Northwestern and drive for the Blue Devils
OHS a total of nine plays, sixty nine yards, four
minutes and thirty seconds on the drive and a six
yard touchdown run from the quarterback Adam Mohen ends it
up here for the Blue Doubles. They lead thirty five
(01:13:42):
to seven. Kickoff coming from Jackman to the near side.
Looks like they might want to return this now. It's
a fair catch made and the Eagles will bring it
out to the twenty five. Good job by Jackman. He's
spend booting him deep and I need that come the
WIAC season, which gets underway in two weeks. All the
WIAC teams are on a bye next week and then
it would be South versus Claire war on ninety four.
(01:14:04):
It gets you going at Carson Park, where Stout has
won the last nine of those in a row. Can
they make it ten? Can they make a double the
longest winning streak by either program in that long storied rivalry.
Oh Claire looking good. They're three and ozer as they
got off to a win against the team that is
below this Northwestern team list last year in the UMAC.
Earlier today and Martin Luther at Carson Park. They won
(01:14:25):
forty two to six. Did the Blue Golds earlier today?
Comes a hand off to the left side, trying to
bounce it out around that left edge goes Marquez and
he is he pushed out of bounds near the twenty
five right at the line of scribbleg Blue Devils got
out there with Cole Sanger. In fact, he's gonna lose
a yard out to the twenty four yard line. I'm
(01:14:47):
gonna say Carson Tate was the closest manage. Well have
we seen there? The second teamers are out there right
now here for the Blue Devils. Tate is out as
a safety. Kyler Lamb in at free safe as well.
Cooper Dietrich had been the backup safety. He got injured
in practice yesterday. So it is Kyler lamback to passes Dempco.
They set up a screen, doesn't matter what he played.
(01:15:08):
Holy cow, Coles Singer was there again. He stops Marquez
for a four yard maybe a three yard loss of
the twenty one high pop passer from Dempco to get
it over the pressure coming on the screen and Sanger
read it beautifully and he drops Marquez for a three
yard loss, four forty left to go. Second quarter Stout
(01:15:29):
thirty five Northwestern seven. It's third and fourteen from the
twenty one. Two receivers go out to the right, one
to the left. Man to the left is Tate Weston.
Haven't heard from him in this game as of yet.
Thirty five seven Blue Devils third and fourteen snaff taken
by Dempco. Four man rush here for Stout, steps up,
gets away from the pressure, initially steps up, throws left.
(01:15:52):
It is in complete along the far side line. No
flags on the playfack. I think that that pass for Wesson,
even if he had completed it would have been incomplete
because the officials hat was off. Wesson had run out
of bounds on his own and so would have been
illegal touching. Regardless, So it is fourth and fourteen here
for Northwestern. They're gonna kick it away, and as we said,
the second teamers are in. Carter will stay in though
(01:16:13):
as the returner here for Stout, probably for the rest
of this first half. As he stands at his own
forty three yard line, Schneiker is back at his oh
about the eight yard line. He's right at the edge
of the soccer box. The eighteen yard box penalty box
as he rugby style kicks this one toward Carter, who
makes the catch at the forty yard line. Gonna take
it up the far sideline at the forty five, pushed
(01:16:35):
out of mounds near the fifty receiving return for Carter
about a ten yard return to the fifty yard line,
a good punt in the end of thirty nine yards
on a net of twenty nine after the kick. So
the Blue Devils take over at their own fifty. And
when we see the second stringers for the offense get
out there at this point, I think we may Let's
(01:16:56):
see that is going to be mowing still who was
out for Stout And you will see Devorak left wide left,
Carter slot left, in Evans out wide right. So still
gonna keep the first teamers in the four to h
three left to go here in the first half, up
thirty five to seven, starting at the fifty yard line,
(01:17:17):
mo one in the shotgun. He will give the you know,
he fakes a handoff to James, who is a tailback,
gets away from the pressure, rolls right looking he's gonna
run to the forty five and he will get the
first down. Man pushed out of bounds near the forty
yard line the first down. A little bit worried when
he scrambles in this situation because you need Adam on
for the Yax season, There's no doubt about that, and
(01:17:39):
you just don't want him to pick up any kind
of injuries there. Pushed out of bounds on that far
side by Northwestern's Keaton sergeant. I mean not by sergeant,
rather that was Ian Aren't on that far side. One
receiver to the right, two to the left. He'll send
Dvorak in motion from the now into the slot on
(01:18:01):
the left side. Evans is wide right now. Mowen will
swing it out to Hughes. That's a back pass of
the forty five. Forty looking for blocks of the thirty five,
turns it up to the thirty flowers, his helmet staying
in bounds, and he gets across the thirty and up
near the twenty seven yard line at about a twelve
thirteen yard gain on that play for Chase Hughes. See
where they mark him down at the twenty eight yard line.
(01:18:21):
Beautiful play there to Hughes think that was a backpass.
I didn't see the official signal there if that'll go
down as a mowing pass or a run regardless. Two
receivers right, one, left, three, fifteen to go. Here in
the first half, Stout up big thirty five to seven.
Mowen takes the snap. He will again fake the handoff,
looking to go deep. He'll launch it over the middle.
Dvorak makes a catch at to ten and he pushes
(01:18:41):
a couple of defenders as he gets hit up near
the eight. Maybe the seven. A twenty yard gain came
to Vorak over the middle, and the Blue doubles will
have first and goal from the eight yard line, and
the heads are starting to hang on the near sideline
here for the Eagles players as they came out with
that great play to start the game. That's seventy five
yard touchdown pass after Stout had gone down for the
(01:19:03):
first score of the game. Their first play from scrimmage
to seventy five yard touchdown pass to brainon Little. There's
been absolutely nothing since mowing in the pistol formation. Ross
is the tailback, Evans wide left, three tight ends on
the formation as well. They fake the hand off to Ross,
fade route to Evans Gorn to the end zone up
what a catch through two defenders. Davonte Evans with his
(01:19:25):
second touchdown reception of the game. It's forty one seven
foot evils is. Devonte Evans goes up and gets it.
The six foot two junior showing off while he is
the number one receiver on this team from Chicago, Illinois.
What eight cats for Devonte Evans and it's forty one
seven stout is Jackman is on to attempt the extra point.
(01:19:51):
Two twenty four left to go. Second quarter snaps spot
kick is up. Kick is good for two seven doubles
lead two twenty four left to go. Second quarterback after
this on your home for blue doubles football.

Speaker 3 (01:20:48):
Welcome back here to Saint Paul, Minnesota. Forty two seven
stout with the lead over the University of Northwestern, and
a stout has held Northwestern to just a total of
eighty seven yards in this game. Western has minus six
yards on the ground, ninety three yards through the air.
Stow with three hundred and thirty nine yards offense in
this first half. They've also possessed the ball for eighteen
minutes as compared to the nine to thirty of Northwestern.
Speaker 8 (01:21:12):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
The return will come out of bounds near the twenty
five yard line to the near side, number eleven three
Homer on the tree, Holmer, the man returning that Ball's
Northwestern trying to get something going outside of you know,
these touchbacks and just trying to maybe start something on
the special team side of things. It will get pushed
out of bounds at the twenty three yard line and
(01:21:32):
that is where Northwestern will start off. The Blue Devils
have all three timeouts available to them. They one of
the thing you don't usually see on a college scoreboard
is when you don't have timeouts up there and There
are not timeouts on the scoreboard at the end to
our right, but everybody should have all three timeouts left
from my recollection. As the handoff goes up the middle
(01:21:53):
here across the twenty five twenty six maybe the twenty
seven crash in Loton, a three yard game up the
gut to the twenty six yard line that will take
us to the two minute timeout up forty two to seven.
I doubt Stout's gonna take time out to try the
same time, but we'll see. Kyle Lamb is the man
who is credited with the tackle as well, and we
have hit the two minute time out here on Newstock
(01:22:14):
WMQAMA eighty ME, Nominee Translator W two nine two e

iHeart Radio station of this game as well as others.
I haven't put the Wartburg one up. But we also
do have a what you we call it a podcast channel.
Oh my goodness, on the iHeart Radio app forty two
to seven lead you start losing it a little bit,
(01:22:36):
but we do have a podcast channel up there for
the Blue Devils. You can listen back to this game
and others. You can listen back to the entire run
for the Stout women's basketball team through the NCAA Tournament
last year, of course, making it to the final four
before losing to the eventual national champions and kind of
the runaway number one team in the NYU Violets as well.
But man want to run for that team last year.
(01:22:57):
You canna listen back to all those games, including the
big win over Whitman in the second round and win
over Whitewater in the sweet sixteen to win against the
host site in the Elite eight in Scranton, Pennsylvania as well.
Those games are all up on the podcast Channal. Just
search for UW Stout after you download the iHeartRadio app
free after your phone and smart device as well. All right,
(01:23:18):
we're ready to go here. Twenty six yard line for
the Eagles second and seven forty two to seven Blue Devils,
one blown coverage and that's the only points. And they're
really the only yardage for this Eagles team outside of
the seventy five yards on that first play from scrimmage,
They've got only eighteen other yards. And now I'll give
them a couple more as there's a run to the
(01:23:39):
right side from Lofton tripped up in the backfield by
Cole Sanger and then kind of fell forward for a
couple of yards up near the twenty eighth give him
two yards on the play. Jacob Didle is the man
who was also the man making this out or title.
Excuse me on the deal, it is Dedal. I thought
(01:24:02):
it was Deel, and then I heard I thought the
third heard his parents say every time they mispronounce her,
it is deal. I had it right in my notes.
Two receivers still left, one of the rights, third and
five here for the Eagles, one twenty left to go
on the quarter. They are under no hurry. They will
hand it off to lofton left and he will get
to the thirty and then he's crushed at the thirty
one yard line. Job getting in there. Michael Reynolds, the
(01:24:25):
freshman defensive lineman we've seen do some good stuff this season,
got up and made the stop fourth and two. But
on your own thirty one, I can't imagine they'll go
for it here, and about a thirty second differential between
game clock and play clock, you can't. I mean, they
probably gonna call a time out here and then decide
what they want to do. But I mean, I guess,
(01:24:47):
so it's forty two to seven, you know, what do
you have to lose? But three straight run plays makes
me think they just want to get to the halftime
locker room. And yeah, sure enough Matt Moore in his
ninth season, thirty eight and thirty eight is right in
the year, the official on the near side and the
time out taken with thirty seconds remaining here in the
first half.
Speaker 14 (01:25:08):
This is their first time out of the half, so
the time.
Speaker 3 (01:25:11):
Out taken, we'll get us close here toward the halftime whistle.
If Stout gets the ball back, there's no no reason
not to try to go for a quick score. You've
got three timeouts available to you plenty that you can
roll with there as well. The other scores in the
wac TO have n't mentioning them Big one in Division
three football, Whitewater went down to Mary Harden Baylor in Texas.
(01:25:34):
One of the kind of stalwart football schools in Division
three haven't maybe been as successful as they'd like to
have been in the last couple of years, but historically
over the last couple decades, Mary Heart Baylor, Mount Union,
North Central and Whitewater kind of four at the top
and Mary Hert and Baylor lost. Whitewater won twenty six
to six on the road down in Belton, Texas. Today,
black Bill won against Springfield twenty eight to twelve. Springfield
(01:25:56):
one runs a triple option kind of similar to the
old Georgian Tech Army teams. If you've watched that, they
almost almost kind of looks like the Oaklai Regis offense.
To be perfectly honest with you, the Pioneers went twenty
eight to twelve at home against Springfield. Lacrosse goes up
State's home, but they play a Division two school out
of the GLEEAK and Wayne State and they beat him
thirty one to twenty two. Oaklaire with that big forty
(01:26:17):
two to six win over Martin Luther River falls all
over Bellhaven, Mississippi, sixty five to nothing. Oh, the punch
units out. But now that a late substitution here before
the play clocks even started. And the wrong guys on
the field is it is Schleicher. Back to punch and
again oshcots should winner thirty eight to twenty one over
(01:26:37):
Roosevelt out of Illinois in Oshcotch today as well, so
six and oh for the WAYAK and they are well
on their way to seven and zero. With how Stout
is done here so far, Sliker kind of an off
the side of his foot kick. It's gonna go out
of bounds across the forty yard line at about the
thirty nine yard line. Officially not a great punch. Thirty
(01:26:58):
pun on the play, it runs six seconds off the clock.
Twenty four seconds remain in the half. Now, look, Clay Birmingham,
you know, one of the things in Division three it's
hard sometimes to get three non conference matchups. So when
you're a non conference and you're up like this, you
know some of the offense, you know, you might just
be taking a knee here because you don't want to
rub it in, because you don't want to have that reputation.
(01:27:19):
I think that's what he's gonna do here. Yeah, everybody's
getting up around the new quarterback is it looks like
Adam Owens day might be done. Luke Sandeen is the
man who is in at quarterback, and he's going to
take a knee to end this half as well. And
there it is. So Luke Sideen takes a knee and
we will head to halftime forty two to seven. Blue
Devils with the lead, and there will be no more
(01:27:41):
time outstake, and I believe it's up to Northwestern whether
they want to stop the clock. They could twice if
they like, but they won't. You know, the Blue Devil's
certainly happy with what they have seen here in half
number one, two to seven, they lead it over. Northwestern
will take a couple of minute time two three minutes.
Whatever I told you Dan and our pregame talk, and
(01:28:03):
we'll come back here with some halftime stats. We'll get
your set up for the interview with Dawson Goodman. Twenty
more halftime, so we'll get started right after this. At halftime,
it's Stout forty two, it's Darthwestern seventy. You're listening right

You guys doing a free day win No welcome back
here to Northwestern, the University of Northwestern at Saint Paul, Minnesota.
It's halftime. It's Stout forty two Northwestern seven peacabs within
MP price back in the studio as we get into
our halftime show and so the stats aren just a
moment of special thanks to all our Stout boosters this
season twenty four to seven Telcom West Wisconsin dot Com

Red Cedar Chiropractic, Wisconsin Credit Union, Herbert and Gerbert's, and
of course not only a Stout sponsor, but a WIAC
sponsor as well in Calvers Welcome to Delicious. I'm thinking
about Culver's probably because I just saw the cow from
Chick fil A just running a race here at halftime
(01:32:24):
from Northwestern as well, and somebody just won a free
catered meal because they beat the cow in a race,
and the cow got a fifty yard head start and
the students still beat him. So it probably tells you
a little bit of kind of how the day's gone.
Put Northwestern in the cow costume and put Stout as
the Northwestern student, and you'd have a pretty good indication
of how this game has gone so far. The Blue
(01:32:47):
Devils have three hundred and thirty eight yards of total offense.
In that first half, they ran forty two plays. They
had the ball for eighteen minutes and twenty six seconds
compared to the eleven thirty four of Whitewater Whitewater part
of Northwestern. Excuse me, wouldn't that be nice if that
was the case? Against Whitewater, Northwestern had just two yards
on the ground. They had a total of ninety five
(01:33:09):
yards ninety three yards through the air, for a total
of just ninety five yards a total offense in that
first half to the three thirty eight of UW South.
Adam Mohen went twenty three of twenty seven in that half.
You might end up saying in this game, because I
doubt that we're going to see him in the second half.
He had two hundred and seventy two yards through the
(01:33:29):
air three touchdowns as well Chandler Ross with twenty five
yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Adam Mohen also
ran in for a touchdown he had twenty three yards
on the ground, and Avron Carter with thirteen yards on
the ground Chase Us with seven bloot Devil's receivers were
led by DeVante Evans with one hundred and seven yards
receiving and two touchdowns in that first half. Avron Carter
(01:33:50):
had sixty two yards receiving on six receptions, but Kate
Devorak with forty six yards on three receptions, thirty eight
yards on two receptions for Jojo James. Yeah, Maggot got
his first reception in the Blue Devil uniform for eleven yards.
Chase Hughes with five yards receiving as well and a
touchdown as well for the backup tight end for the
(01:34:10):
Blue Devils and Cole Fillin, and we might see more
of him in the second half as well. On the
other side, Demko was five of eight passing for ninety
three yards, but remember seventy five of those came on
the first play of the game. Since then, he's only
thrown for eighteen yards one touchdown. That first touchdown of
the game as well, Lofton only has eight yards on
the ground. Little with that seventy five yard touchdown leads
the way for Northwestern. All right, it is halftime. We've
(01:34:33):
got about a little under fourteen minutes left on our
halftime clock, so we will bring you in just a
couple of minutes our halftime interview, which was with Dawson Goodman,

It's halftime and we were joined by another player from
the uw A Stout Blue Devils football team, Dawson Goodman
from Chipwell Falls. Appreciate you taking a little bit of
time with us, Dawson, and let's talk a little bit
about the season. So f our two games in one
and one and obviously as a starting defensive back, what's
it been like this season getting to know the guys,
going through camp and getting through these first two games
(01:38:30):
with now Northwestern and the final non conference game on the.
Speaker 9 (01:38:33):
On the docket.
Speaker 16 (01:38:35):
Yeah, it's definitely been definitely been a journey, I know,
starting from fall camp, just getting to know kind of
figuring out our identity of who we are, especially on
defensive side, and being a leader, trying to guide the
guys and bring them all together. I know, I know
this year especially, it's kind of feeling like we've we're closer,
(01:38:55):
We're more experienced than last year, and I know our
communication levels on the defense the side stem all the
way through and that just give us the ability to
play faster and more together as a defense.
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
Yeah, you lost some guys last year, but I imagine
especially in the in the defensive back or right with
obviously playing with your brother and Gavin, and then having
Brooks there as well. What's that what's that chemistry been like?
You've got Ellis that you've added in there at the
other cornerback spot. But talk a little bit about that,
because imagine it's easy, right when when you've got one
(01:39:28):
guy you played with him, the guy you probably played
with for a long time, and your brother, what's that
relationship been like in developing that as a defensive back?
Speaker 5 (01:39:35):
You know secondary crew?
Speaker 16 (01:39:38):
Well, you know last year we were tight and we
lost Richie and then we replaced him quickly quickly with Ellis,
And I mean he came into the spring and he
was all bore, ready to hop on our ship and
learn our culture.
Speaker 3 (01:39:49):
It was.
Speaker 9 (01:39:49):
It was unbelievable.
Speaker 16 (01:39:50):
And obviously that that grows tighter. And then I've been
playing with my brother. I've said it's weird throwing the
ball in the backyard. So I'd say there's just a
lot of accountability, just holding each other accountable back there
in the secondary and when one messes up, you get
on them and make sure they don't do it again.
And so I just that's a really great feature that
(01:40:12):
we have back there.
Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
Yeah, that was one of the things, you know, last
week it was obviously really hot against Warburg and everybody
was kind of cramping up and whatnot. But man, you
get some guys step in. Carson Tate, Cooper, Ddrich, a
couple other guys really jumped in there. I imagine even
the guys who might be on that second string seem
like they have a good relationship with everybody as well.
Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
It's a tight group, isn't it.
Speaker 16 (01:40:32):
We're really tight in the dB room, and that's exactly
kind of what we do. We're always bouncing ideas off
each other, and one guy gets a little confused, we
always coach them up and we make sure everyone's on
the same mental level when they go out there on Saturday,
and said, when one goes down, like for example, I
went down Saturday in the second half, and Carson Tate
stepped in beautifully, And it's really just awesome to see
(01:40:55):
just how everyone can step right in.
Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
And Dawston Goodman again on us here at halftime defensive
back from Chipwall forced out, and yeah, it's impressive to
watch as well.
Speaker 5 (01:41:07):
Talk a little bit about getting to play for.
Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
Clay Birmingham for coach Birmingham because obviously he's a he's
a defensive back guy right from from his time, so
you've got your head coach there. But also he's giving you,
i'm sure, quite a bit of insight and quite a
bit of teaching as to.
Speaker 9 (01:41:22):
How to play the position.
Speaker 3 (01:41:23):
How what is that like? You know, kind of having
the head guy in Coach Birmingham also give you the
you know, the little chips and tricks of the trade
as well.
Speaker 16 (01:41:32):
Yeah, it's it's quite the joy because you always get
he gets kind of see inside Davie's mind when he
explains everything. So every little thing has I mean, you're
sitting there he's coaching up and you think, man, what's
going on here? But then he explains and he explains
how he used it and every single little technique.
Speaker 9 (01:41:49):
It's it's quite the joy.
Speaker 16 (01:41:51):
And then he him being the head coach, gives you
a farther inside on what hit him, his coaches and
other coaches are I think, and throughout the game, like
in different scenarios, third down, first down and everything else.
Through that, it's it's quite a quite a treat.
Speaker 3 (01:42:06):
Yeah, we were talking before we started the interview about
you playing at Chipwa and playing for coach Raikovich. And
obviously you know kind of the the tradition, the history,
the standard of excellence that we have with that program.
What did what did your high school days at chai
Hi kind of teach you about what you needed to
do to play at the college level. Because we see
a lot of guys from chai Hi play in the
(01:42:27):
yak they play at other levels of college ball.
Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
There's a lot of guys who come out of that program.
Speaker 3 (01:42:31):
So what did that program teach you about what you
needed to do when you got to the college level.
Speaker 16 (01:42:36):
Yeah, chai Hi kind of just it taught me discipline
and uh discipline just it's such an important, uh trait
to have coming into college. And you know, when you're
in high school, I mean, if you're going to college,
you're considered an all star on your team, and I
mean sometimes you have to help out those that aren't
(01:42:57):
all stars. But when you come into college, every one
of your teammates are all stars, all stars. And so
just being able to do your job and just your
job consistently and just being disciplined in that state is
gives you the ability to play well with each other.
Speaker 5 (01:43:13):
Yeah, your fun guy to watch. Sure again Dawson, come
in joining us. Here's what one more question for you.
Speaker 3 (01:43:17):
Obviously you're an electrical engineering major, tell us here at
Stout once you graduate, do you have kind of a
plan yet for that?
Speaker 9 (01:43:23):
What's the what's the kind of.
Speaker 3 (01:43:25):
Goal once you're done with that major and once you
once you you know, finish up your career at Style.
Speaker 16 (01:43:31):
Yeah, I'm job just going into my third year and
so i haven't gotten an internship yet, but I'm looking
to go into the power distribution area of electrical engineering,
and whether it's going from power grids or designing commercial
buildings and whatnot. But I'm really looking into that sector.
And I'm not exactly saying I'm excited to leave football,
(01:43:52):
but I know there's gonna be a bright feature outside
of football for me too.
Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
You got a couple more years left and you've got
Richie Murphy you know, to learn from if you want
to start up your social media campaign as well, So
you've got that back going going. Also, is he kind

just give me a shouting. I know as a DV
he's more than more than happy to give us a
hand here and there.
Speaker 3 (01:44:21):

the season as well. Appreciate you taking the time with us.

Now, welcome back to the University of Northwestern here in
North Saint Paul, Minnesota and Roseville. Officially is we are
at halftime and it's Stout forty two Northwestern seven at halftime.
We went over the halftime stats a little bit before,
but again worth noting again that the Blue Doubles have
three hundred and thirty eight yards of total offense on
four two plays. Northwestern has just run twenty plays. They
(01:47:02):
have ninety five yards. I remember seventy five of those
ninety five came on the first play of the game,
on a seventy five yard touchdown pass on a blown
coverage by the Blue Devils. Since then, it has been
absolutely nothing going for Northwestern here tonight, and it's been
all Blue Devils taking on this UMAC opponent, and the
Blue Devils looking good and again O Claire, who also
(01:47:23):
took on a UMAC opponent in Martin Luther earlier today
at Carson Park, won forty two to six in that game.
And these are the two teams are gonna meet up
in two weeks, right Stout versus O Claire and long rivalry,
the War on ninety four trophy on the line, the
bragging rights on the line. We've got a lot of
good stuff coming up for two weeks from Carson Park,
(01:47:45):
a lot of good stories over the last season as well.
Gonna my thought always, of course, each school wants to
beat each other. I think that's more like in the
athletic departments and so on. I think it's one of
those more even though it's it's a hard fought rivalry
only schools are only thirty minutes from each other, it
still is a pretty respectful rivalry as well. So it's
always fun. But there's a good step we'll have for
(01:48:06):
you in two weeks to talk about for sure. From
Carson Park. All right, ready for the kickoff here, Northwestern.
We'll get the ball to start this second half. Blue
Devils will likely start off with their second team defense
and offense out there, but I'd imagine that Northwestern is
going to try to keep the first seamers out for
at least a couple of series here, down forty two
(01:48:26):
to seven to start the second half, Blue Devil's second
team was in the last two possessions offensively for Northwestern
and got some good stops. Here we go downfield, it
comes and the fair catch call for again in the
end zone by Trey Omer, and off we go here
for half number two, forty two to seven, the Blue
(01:48:47):
Devils with the lead. There is no running clock in
college football, which you know, I mean, there might be
some folks who'd like to have a running clock in
a situation like this, especially at the Division IIE level,
but I think that's a good thing in the end, right,
you don't want to necessarily, you know, especially second third
team guys, take them out of a chance to be
able to play, right, to be able to get some
time in and get some work in. And this is
(01:49:08):
a great chance for those second teamers to get quite
a bit of time here in this second half as well.
All Right, it is Dempko back at quarterback, and he's
got two receivers out to the left. It's a handoff
to Lofton up the middle and he is going to
be hit four loss back inside the twenty five. They'll
give him the twenty four and forward progress. The Blue
Devils had Dwight kiff Meyer, who is there a couple
(01:49:29):
of linebackers as well. Yeah, they're gonna say that Parker
was there as well. Parker Sanger was on the plane
as well. That Parker Sanger, and I think Clivetta is
the other linebacker in at the moment for the Blue
Doubles up on the line kiff Meyer abe helsl And
(01:49:55):
trying to find that other alignment as well. It is
Owen Christa who is up on the line for the
Blue Doubles out at the cornerbacks A. G. Hogan and
Connor McGuire. As there's a pass and launch this one
deep in near side. It's up and caught your side
of the forty making a move at the thirty five
and being hit and taken down at the twenty five
yard line. Goes the afforementioned Braydon little little fader out
(01:50:17):
to the sideline and against the new cornerback there and
A J. Hogan. He's able to make the play and
a big time played for the Eagles, thirteen to fifty
three to go. Third quarter, it's stout forty two Northwestern seven,
but little with another big time catch. You had a
great start here for the Eagles. They get it to
(01:50:38):
the stout twenty four. They move left right here in
the third quarter in the all black uniforms, purple helmets,
purple numbers outlined in white, some gold trim there as
well on those unis fake the handoff to Lofton and
a passes incomplete in a lake like come on. That
is absolutely terrible. Owen Christen hit them and I think
they're gonna go with the weight rule right the defensive
(01:50:59):
lineman falling on him with his weight. I don't know
how you avoid that in that situation with Dempco falling backwards.
That's just a terrible flag. It's absolutely awful. Then here
comes a call.
Speaker 13 (01:51:12):
Personal foul rough in the passer defense number seventeen totally
has half to doss Tom the goal automatic first gout.
Speaker 3 (01:51:19):
Just in off a call. I mean, I guess they
need all the help they can get forty two to
seven Blue Devils with the lead, and we'll mark it
off half the distance of the goal put it at
the twelve yard line and it's first and ten here
for Northwestern Depco has this tailback in Lofton back behind him,
(01:51:41):
two receivers out to the left. That's a false start
and they didn't call it. Lofton will not keep it.
It'll be Demp going the keeper around the right edge
of the ten Manny slides and now another flag's coming
in because he got hit on the slide. The problem
is there was a false start that two guys moved
and he didn't call it, and then we get a
situation like that, absolutely ridiculous earlier. I mean, you got
(01:52:03):
to call the false start and then we don't have
a slide problem here. On that late slide, you got
the defender first out already leaving his feet, but then
you slide down quick and you get a hit and
a you know, a personal foul call.
Speaker 13 (01:52:17):
Foul unnessary rough This defense number one totally is half that.
This is the goal from the end of the run,
automatic first down.
Speaker 3 (01:52:25):
So AYJ. Hogan is calling for it and forty two
to seven Blue Devils with the lead thirteen to seventeen
left to go here in the third quarter, A quick
break of the huddle for dem gooing company. Low snap,
fakes the handout, throws it over the top, touchdown. That's
Will Schneiker, a tight end with his second touchdown reception
(01:52:48):
of the season. Five yard pass and it's forty two
to thirteen. Stout with the lead here over another question.
It's a good learning moment, I think for the Blue Devils, right,
you got two roughing the passer penalties based on this drive.
And while you feel aggrieved, I feel aggrieved about it.
Home y'all start to figure out how do you not
make that happen, especially when you're playing a team like
(01:53:09):
Eau Claire in two weeks. That's got to stop for sure.
For the South squad, they have to allow Stout to
sub here as there is a late substitution for the
Eagles and have the whole extra point crew out there.
Bad snap, the kick is up, that's wide wide near sign.
That's no good on the intemp and it is thirteen
(01:53:31):
oh nine left to go on the third corner will
be that gright. After this, you're in your home for
Blue double football.

This is UW. Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (01:54:18):
Welcome back here to Northwestern as we get set for
the kickoff and retholds Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota, thirteen
oh nine love to play here. In the third quarter
at a touchdown drive for the Eagles of seventy five
yards helped out by two personal foul penalties, one a
roughing the passer and then won an unnecessary roughness on
a slide by the quarterback in Demco and a five
(01:54:39):
yard touchdown pass to their tight end Schleiker. It's going
to the end zone for five yards out forty two
to thirteen. Stout leads. The second teamers will be out
to start the second half for Stout's offense. It is
Jojo James still back to return man on the far
side for the Blue Devils. Is I believe that skin maggot.
So it'll be near side here and it will be
(01:55:00):
James from the ten to the twenty huge hole. I
mean he can cut it right side. He does at
the thirty stiff arms and defender to the forty far sideline.
Forty five down the far sideline, he's out of bounds
across the fifty and up and they'll mark him right
at the fifty yard line. I want to return. That
was about forty yards Jojo James showing off the speed
there on the return in the Blue Devils will come
out on offense. And again we assume and we believe,
(01:55:25):
we will see the second string deep our offense out
there for stout. Indeed we will. So it is Luke
Sadeen who is at quarterback. Of course, his brother Justin Sadeen,
a great player for the baseball team for the Blue Devils.
Where's Luke Sadeen? In high school? A WFCA All Star
Game participant, broke the school record at Northwestern in the
heart of north passing touchdowns in a season. He rolls
(01:55:47):
left throws and that's incomplete. He misses both the tender
receivers there McCabe, Devorak and Aaron Williams on the near side. Incomplete,
So Sadeen in the backfield here. And we said he
broke the school record for passing touchdowns, passing yards in
a single season in both twenty twenty one, and then
he broke it the next year in twenty twenty two.
(01:56:08):
Back to back undefeated conference seasons in the heart of
North in twenty one and twenty two as well. For
Luke Sandeen didn't play much last year did the Blue Devils?
Did sandein for the Blue Devils only had a couple
of attempts show some pressure. Second and ten from the
fifty handoff up the middle, oh on a cut forty
five year side forty and turning it up across the
thirty five and near the thirty three yard line goes
(01:56:29):
Zoe McDowell, the junior running back, was taken down officially
at the thirty five yard line for a game of
fifteen and a first down for the Blue Devils. As
that's a beautiful run for Zoe McDowell. He is the
fifth running back we've seen in this game here for Stout.
Blue Devils have also traveled Jacob Royce, the junior quarterback
(01:56:51):
from Lakeville South in Minnesota. He would be the third
string quarterback. We may see if Stout continues to play well.
Back at the receiver out to the left, two receivers right,
one of them's Williams, goes in motion. Sadean takes a snap,
will swing it out of the backfield, catch by mcdowald's
back pass to the thirty five rather and then hit
hard near the thirty yard line, taken down by Slaybah
(01:57:16):
on the safety. It's a bit the thirty, but that's
about a five yard gain on first down. Make it
second and five now from the northwestern thirty. It's forty
two to thirteen Stout eleven to fifty left to go
in the third quarter. Soot's giving up a touchdown to
start the second half. With the second string defense in
there as well, second string offense out for the moment.
Sadean hands it off to McDowell, cuts right well, shifty
(01:57:37):
running back across the line of scrimmage, and he pushes
near the first down marker. I think he's gonna be
on a half a yard short, just outside the twenty
five yard line, moving off to the right, it's about
four and a half and it'll be third in inches
here for the Blue Devils. Third in inches on the
far hash mark from the twenty five and a half
yard line. Need the twenty five for a first down.
(01:58:03):
Sadean gonna go under center. McDowell is his tailback, and
Sadein takes they'll give to McDowell shifts, gets across the line,
spins at the twenty spun down, then gets kind of
popped afterward at the eighteen yard line, fell on top
of had a good run in the end of eight
yards and it's a first down for the Blue Devils
(01:58:23):
as they're back in the red zone. This is a
team in Stout who came into the game in the
red zone three of five in their first two games,
with the three of those five scores so two of them,
two of the three were touchdowns, the other a field goal.
So they've had some kind of, you know, not as
good as success as they'd like in the red zone,
that's for sure. McDowell still the tailback, one receiver right,
(01:58:45):
one left, Williams Man left, goes in motion, comes up
near the line. Now Sadean rolls to his left, gets
away from the pressure, looking to go to the end
zone he can. He pops it up for Williams and
just throwing a little bit out of bounds here there's
the right distance, just trying to kind of fade it
into the corner, and Williams tried to plant his feet
and do the towdrag, but the ball was too far
out of bounds. Incomplete bring up second and ten from
(01:59:07):
the eighteen yard line. Forty two to thirteen. Stout leads
and some good moments here for these guys who might
not get as much playing time once to get into
the WIAC season, but if Stout needs them, they're getting
some real good experience here in the second half against
Northwestern US siding at quarterback animal with the great first half,
Sadeana in the shotgun with second and ten, it's a
(01:59:29):
handout to McDowell cuts it up the middle to the
fifteen yard line. He's tripped up across the fifteen to
him out the thirteen A McDowell good for another five yards.
He's been good for five almost every run, it seems like,
stopped on the play by Angelo Johnson and others. Third
and five here for sound of the thirteen yard line.
(01:59:50):
We took under ten minutes left to go in the
third quarter. Stout forty two Northwestern thirteen three receivers bunched
up near the line on the offset left side out
on the right. It is I believe James outlined on
the right on his own. This the formation he looks
to go toward. James in said he'll swing it out
to McDowell trying to cut it. The fifteen gets hit
back there, then pushes up near the original line at
(02:00:12):
the thirteen. Maybe he gets a yard of the twelve
and it will be fourth and four in the field goal.
You're going to come out here for Stout an opportunity
now for Garrison Jackman was one for one on the season.
Is a field goal coming from thirty yards and ended
up being the game winner or the difference in the
(02:00:32):
game against debute back and then opening week of the season,
and this is a similar link about a twenty nine
yard field goal. I believe it's still is going to
be mowing as the holder Jackman on to attempt the
field goal from the far hash mark at the end
zone to our left. The kick is up but certainly
long enough to look wide. Yeah, it's wide near side.
(02:00:54):
He didn't get all that one. He just kind of
off the side of the foot there and he cooked
it pulled. It was unable to make the field goal.
So eight fifty five left to go. Third quarter, it's
forty two thirteen. Stout leads and that will bring the
ball out to the twenty yard line here for the
Eagles and their offense back out. Another big play on
(02:01:14):
that last drive for Northwestern to Braydon Little is kind
of the way they were able to jumpstart that drive
and then a personal foul roughing the passer penalty, a
personal foul unnecessary roughness penalty got him close to the
end zone and that five yard touchdown pass to Schleiker
was the difference. So let's see if the Blue Devils
(02:01:35):
can kind of dig in a little bit here. So
the second teamers out there for Stout and we'll see
demp go in the pistol formation with one receiver rout
to the left. Takes a snap. It is a handoff
to the tailback. This one is Marquez and he gets
hit hard as he gets up for a couple of yards.
The two maybe the twenty three churning between the hash
(02:01:55):
and the numbers side. Marquez stopped by Carson Tate, the oaklayer.
Just Rambler. Rambler's going to five and zero on the
season after beating Duran this past Thursday night. Hope they're
regis Finally they have not. Their defense is not allowed
their first string defense is not allowed to point all
season long. Crazy. Two receivers out to the left here
(02:02:17):
for Dempco in the pistol formation. He's got Marquez's tailback again.
A couple of claps will take the snap running right
nothing there, Blue Devils, fill it out. Beautiful tackle, beautiful stop.
Jacob Didl was there along with Cole Singer. It'll be
a loss of one back near the twenty one. Maybe
they're twenty two.
Speaker 14 (02:02:35):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:02:36):
It's third and long, third and eight coming up here
for Northwestern. I brought the whole deal crew out here.
I think tonight they are all in the Blue Devils,
white and blue overalls, striped overalls down a few rows
below us up here in the press box. Two receivers left,
two to the right here for Northwestern ball in the
near hash mark third and eight. Need to get it
(02:02:58):
to the thirty yard line for a first down. Man
motion across the formation is the backup tight end Isaiah
Vass back to past Demkoye pumps hits, gets away from
the pressure, gonna run with it, and then he goes down.
That'll be a loss. We'll see if it goes down
as a sack as well. Sanger was the man closest
to him. He'll go down back at the eighteen yard line.
It'll be a loss of four on the play. It's
(02:03:19):
four thousand. The punt unit out here for the Eagles,
back deep in their own territory. Stout forty two the
Eagles of Northwestern thirteen with seven thirteen left to play
in the third quarter. So good hold here by the
second team defense for the Blue Devils, and the punt
unit is out and Schleiker will get set to punted away.
Standing back near his own five yard line. It is
(02:03:41):
Aaron Williams who will be the returner for Stout. Now
standing at his own forty four yard line LINEUS scrimmage
is the nineteen. Schleiker wants to snap. It's hide, it's
almost over his heady one hand grabs it, gets it away.
Williams calves for a fair catch. He didn't need to.
He could return that which is at the fifty yard line,
(02:04:02):
ends up being a thirty one yard punt, but probably
it should have been two things pushed. You could have
had a couple of things. It could have been over
his head. He one hand grabbed it and he didn't
have a glove on that hand. He grabbed it with
his bare hand, almost over his head. And also probably
before any of that happened, probably should have been a
delay a game because the clock was at zero and
that's why probably the snap went almost over his head.
(02:04:23):
He was screaming for the snap, maybe scared his long
snapper and almost snapping it over his head. So Blue
Devils come out once again with Luke Sedeen at quarterback,
Maggett to the left, two receivers out to the rights,
and he will fake the handoff throwing right, good throw
out there. Devorak has it forty to the thirty five,
makes a move and he pushes some defenders up near
(02:04:44):
the thirty yard line and they're gonna give him forward
progress to the thirty one. That's a nineteen yard game.
The mcavee Devorak, who's had a great game here the.
Speaker 14 (02:04:52):
Seven nineteen first Blue levels.
Speaker 3 (02:04:56):
Devorak with that reception is now up over the sixty
yard mark in the game, and of Oak also with
his fourth reception of the ball game as well. Do
Worac will go out wide left, Williams slot left, Maggot
out wide right. The tailback is Burke. He is offset
left of sideine and the snap taken, and they will
fake the handoff to him looking to go deep. Williams
(02:05:17):
was open. Instead they go near side because Worak makes
the catch and the ball pops out. Should be incomplete.
This should be an incomplete pass. He did not make
a move with that. He was hit immediately, and there's
an official coming in calling it incomplete. One official through
the bean bag. Another called it incomplete. Now, of course,
if we had video replay, they would be telling the
officials that they should let that play go. But when
(02:05:39):
you don't, you gotta make the call. And without video replay,
if you think it's incomplete, you gotta call it. And
the head coach here on the near side for Northwestern,
Matt Moore, is saying, hey, one of you threw the beanbag,
so one of you thought it was a catch, while
the other guy, I think it was incomplete. And I'm
sure they're trying to explain that away right now. It
is now after that incompletion, second and ten from the
(02:06:00):
thirty one yard line of Northwestern sidein awaits the snap
and the shotgun. Two receivers left, one right, hands it
off to Burke right side. He's got a hole. He's
up across the twenty five and tripped up near the
twenty four yard line. About a seven yard gain. Just
put your head down and run it did Miles Burke,
the freshman, and he's over the negative mark. He came
into the game with three rushes for negative two on
(02:06:23):
the season, so he's got back into positive numbers. And
now third and about three here for the Blue Devils.
In fact, they might mark it about two third down
in two third and two here first out at the
twenty three and a half yard line. You need to
get down here the twenty one for a first down.
That emotion is Williams on the receiver spot left side.
(02:06:43):
He'll move toward the line. They bounce it out here.
There's a face mask that didn't get called. There comes
the flag, and this will be if Burke being stopped, sure,
but he was clearly face masked. The flags are coming
in and this should be a first down for the
Blue Devils when it's marked off. I might have been
two guys grabbing it at his face mask there to
(02:07:04):
yank him down. I think the officials are talking about,
is it from the end of the run to the
previous previous line of scrimmage? Should be from the previous
line of scrimmage when you're tackled for a loss because
of the face mask, which he was, So this should
be half the distance from the twenty four. Put it
around the twelve yard line and give the Blue Devils
a first down Rutsil file.
Speaker 13 (02:07:23):
They ask Defense number forty four's happen that it's a
ball from the previous automatic first down.
Speaker 3 (02:07:29):
That's not your radio. That's just a bad wireless connection
here between the ref mic and the press box. But nonetheless,
it is gonna move the ball up near the twelve
yard line and it will be first and ten from
the twelve for Luke Sideen and company. Oak Sadeen, also
a member of the baseball team, didn't played last year.
His brother again a great baseball player, Justin Sadeen. As
(02:07:51):
back to pass, he goes looking pressure cumming, Sadin gonna
roll out of there, throws it to the sideline incomplete
hit the official on the far side the hands of
the intended receiver was the backup tight end cole Filla
neu Ada touchdown reception in the first half. Not quite
too I mean, I say threw his hands. I don't
even know if he comes down in bounds if he
(02:08:13):
makes that catch on that far sideline now near the
five yard line, but ends up being second and ten
now here from the twelve. Second and ten for Sadeen
Miles Burke is the tailback. They'll send the two tight
ends to the right side of the formation, Williams and
Maggot out to the left side. Here in the receiver spot.
Sadean throws it out to him. Maggot makes a catch
at the fifteen. Got to make a move and he'll
(02:08:34):
tiptoe the sideline and get run out of bounds past
the ten and out of bounds at the eight yard line.
About a four yard game. Third and six now for
Stout and the Blue Devils, moving in here up forty
two to thirteen on Northwestern with four forty seven left
to go in the third quarter. Devil, this will get
pretty big substitutions in here. On third down, it should
(02:08:59):
be running even though he went out of bounds, but
it's not because the official didn't decide to wind it
ball at the eight yard line on the new year
hash mark right to left. They go stopped, taking a
lot of time to get to this line here. Five
seconds up in the flake block Sadan in the shotgun
with two with one takes a snap pressure coming, throws
left on a slant catch made at the end zone.
(02:09:19):
Cut touchdown. He on Magot with the touchdown reception got
open on the quick slant right at the goal line,
and the Blue Devils extend the lead. It's now forty
eight to thirteen over Northwestern with four forty one left
to go in the third quarter and Luke Sideen with
his first touchdown pass as a Blue Devil and a
(02:09:42):
big moment for him and for these second teamers as
well as they march it down field beautifully into the
end zone. Four forty one left to go here in
the third and stout to add the extra point. Jackman
snap spot kick up and the kick is good. Boot
Devils take it. Do we see a flag there? I
(02:10:04):
think we might have seen a flag late or did Yeah,
there's a flag down here. We're gonna keep it here
for a moment. It's forty eight to thirteen. The signal
was given that it was good. I think we might
have something after the play on Northwestern for a personal
foul or unsportsmanlike something like that. Here comes a call
(02:10:24):
a wait to take break? Mister Price still talking about her?
Are the officials? We might not take a break here.
If everybody's ready to go, Let's see what the call is.
Speaker 13 (02:10:36):
The play I's forced by that conduct kick dee defense
number twenty two. The fifteen yard penalty will be assessed
on the kickoff. The try is good. That is number
twenty two's first un sportsman leg towards this qualification.
Speaker 3 (02:10:49):
All right, there you have it, the unsportsman call on
Michael Montoya. So now stout, we'll get to kick it
from the fifty yard line. Let's take thirty seconds, so
we'll be back, but start up forty nine to thirteen
on Northwestern. Here on home for Blue Devils football.
Speaker 4 (02:11:02):
For the last fifteen years, Affordable Dentures in Eau Claire
has helped over fifteen thousand patients seek a better life,
a life free to smile easily and without embarrassment, a
life free from the negative health effects associated with infecta teeth.
Each year we help hundreds of patients freeing themselves from
the physical and mental trauma of a life limited by
poor oral health. If you are ready to move beyond
(02:11:24):
the days of hiding your smile, call Affordable Dentires for
a free consultation. Seven one five eighty five five one
zero two zero.
Speaker 1 (02:11:35):
This is UW Stout Football on news talk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (02:11:42):
E looks a name with his first touchdown pass in
a Stout uniform. He was five of nine here to
start in the second half and thirty seven yards an
eight yard touchdown pass to Keon Maggott for his first
touchdown reception in a Stout uniform as well. He's got
three receptions for twenty three yards and an unsportsman like
penalty on the extra point. He is gonna put the
ball up at the fifty, and that's a good chance
(02:12:03):
for Garrison Jackman to kind of practice the little the
pooch kick there, kind of tore to sideline, have it
kind of back up and stop and maybe one of
your guys can go fall on it here. Let's see
if he tries for that. The Eagles kind of playing
for this kick to go right down the middle of
the sidelines are open. Let's see what he does. Jackman
(02:12:23):
is gonna just kick this one high in the air
and it will go right to the back of the
end zone. It'll be caught and down and that will
bring the ball out to the twenty.
Speaker 14 (02:12:32):
Five yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:12:33):
Four forty one left to go. Third quarters out forty
nine and Northwestern thirteen again. A week off next week
before we're back on the air here on Newstock WMQ
for an afternoon game and the War on ninety four
at Carson Park, And of course if you're a Blue
Devil or a Blue Gold fan, highly recommend if you
have not been to the War on ninety four or
just a game at Carson Park in general, and obviously
(02:12:54):
an Oaklare Memorial in Oaklare North now playing at their
own stadiums, which I'm sure people have feelings about. I
have feelings about, that's sure, but man, taking in a
football game of Carson Park is a special thing, and
to have it be the War on ninety four makes
it even better. So make sure you come out out
for that for sure. Two receivers to the right. The
handoff goes up the middle here to Marquez. He'll get
a couple across the twenty five to the twenty seven,
(02:13:16):
a two yard game right up the gut for Marquez.
The Blue Devils get the stop right away. The Kal
Lamb party. Sergeant is now into the game here for Northwestern,
the third running back, the sophomore is we've only got
nine yards on the season. He's now up to eleven
with that two yard game. Kal Lamb on the tackle.
(02:13:37):
Lamb in there one with a couple others here for
Stout at the linebacker crew. New guys getting into the game.
As Demp going the shotgun, he'll hand it off again
to Sergeant and he'll push the pile up near close
to the thirty another two yards right up the gut
for him. And that was another tackle made by Stouts.
(02:13:57):
Dre bourns out a lost West on the tackle. I'm
gonna say Larsen made the tackle as well. Warns was
there along with the the de os into the game
here for Stout. Also see clovetter in a linebacker as well.
Coulton Parker out there also Carson State playing the safety
(02:14:19):
along with Kyler Lamb and now Depko gonna roll to
his right throw his catches made across the thirty thirty
five and taken down near the forty yard line. That
was the receiver and Isaiah Voss had a good game
there of eleven yards. That's the first down. The Devils
have a new corner in as well. That's Adrian Mayo,
(02:14:46):
freshman from barn for me, from a Kenosha, Indian trail.
Rather Ohio is the man who's in there. Mohio, excuse me.
Another new corner now just coming into the ball game
for Stout. Calvin Kolay is also into the game. So Kolay,
(02:15:09):
he's in and as now they pass it left side
in complete pressure coming up the middle for Michael Reynolds
as Stepco was trying to get that one away.
Speaker 14 (02:15:17):
Second and ten from the Eagle forty.
Speaker 3 (02:15:19):
So Moio into the game. Number twelve here for the
Blue Devils and others. So we're gonna see plenty of
new guys into this contest here for Stout, Ohio and
Kolay at the two corners, and Carson Tate and Kyler
(02:15:42):
Lamb staying in the the safety spots. Dempco on a
second and ten from the forty two receivers left one
of the right Depco takes the snap, looks left the
entire way nothing there, sets up a screen, catch made,
and he fought right through it and made a big
stop for a loss of yardage. It's Kale Lamb just
jumping through the blocks and pulling him down there for
(02:16:04):
a loss of one to the thirty nine yard line
as a pass out on then out on the edge.
Trenton Sellers for Northwestern loses one as they set up
the screen for him. Another backup running back third and eleven.
Herefore they said second out should be third down and eleven.
(02:16:26):
Third down and eleven is correct. The down marker's right.
The scoreboard is not man so third down is correct.
Seven seconds on the platelif Demko got to get this
snap off. Two receivers left to right. He'll take it,
take the handoff, looks to go deep. Try to fade
this one near side. It is up and incomplete. Should
be no flags there. Fact, if there is anything, might
(02:16:46):
have been some extra contact on Trey Almer down the sideline,
but John by Kyler Lamb to stick with them, make
the stop. It is fourth down. They had a second
on the board, but it is for It is not
third down. It is fourth down? Should be fourth down here? Yeah,
it's fourth down, not third, so fourth down is correct.
(02:17:07):
I think Northwestern was trying to sneak one over on
everybody there, but clearly fourth down and the punt unit
will come out here for the Eagles at their own
thirty nine yard line, two levels, whereturner Aaron Williams will
come into the game. The punter is still a little
schniker here. For Northwestern, they need to take a time
(02:17:28):
out because there's only one second left on the play clock. Again,
there's some confusion as to whether it was third or
fourth down because you were announcing it one down earlier,
but there was an incompletion and there was that stoppage
for a loss as well, and I think Northwestern still
arguing that it's the third but it's clearly fourth down,
so they need to take a time out to talk
about it. Now. They are just about to get underway
the final WIAC game of the day, and that's Stevens
(02:17:51):
point out at Pacific in Oregon. Of course, they're part
of that Northwestern or it was the Northwest Conference. No,
I'm gonna forget what it is. Off the top of
my head. They're part of the same conference that we
saw Whitman come from Whitman in Washington, who came to
all the way to a Monomine to take on the
women's basketball team in the second round of the NCAA
Tournament of your member, Right, that's a Whitman. I don't
(02:18:12):
know if everybody out in that conference feels that way,
but Whitmen was very aggrieved. They were the fifth ranked
team of the country. But because of geography that that
conference is so spread out and so far away from
the rest of the conferences in Division III that oftentimes
they've got to travel when you get to the playoffs.
They were pretty you know, miffed about that, and they
didn't help them because Stout ended up winning that game
and getting to the final four. Is here comes the punt.
(02:18:33):
It's Laker gets it away. It's a wobbler near side
that's gonna go out of bounds near the fifteen yard line.
Ended up working out pretty well, just like her in
the end. And see they finally marked eleven sixteen of
the fifteen. I have to get I have to get
the math together here, all right, So a forty five
(02:18:57):
yard punt, I think they're gonna market at the sixteen
forty five yard punt. Formance out will start back deep
in their own territory at the sixteen or the fifth.
Now they're gonna market at the fifteen, they're gonna move
a backyard. Okay, at the fifteen yard line. Some of
the fans giving you a come on, what's going on there?
Luke Sadeen back in at quarterback, and he's got Ben
(02:19:20):
Tolkienen is his running back right now, and they will
split out. Three receivers to the right, one to the left.
Maggot who just caught that touchdown is on his own
to the left, three out on their own to the right.
Sadeen pumps now, looking to set up the screen. He
sets it up. Tolkien's got it. He's got blockers. He's
got a ton of blockers. Twenty five thirty your side
gonna cut it up. And at the forty yard line
he's taken down. What a screen set up there by
(02:19:42):
the Blue Devils. A twenty four yard gain and Ben
Tolkienen with the reception and it's first and ten from
their own forty after a twenty four yard gain. I
mean he had the screen set up. One guy was
out there. Once they got a block and with two
linemen running along with him, and no chance anybody was
gonna him down with those two guys blocking for him
until he got twenty four yards two receivers out to
(02:20:04):
the right. One minute left here in this third quarter,
Stout up forty nine to thirteen, head up to Tolkien
and up the gut. He's to the forty three, maybe
the forty four as he just pushes the popp ben Tolkien.
He only stands at five seven, one hundred and seventy
five pounds. He is not a you know, not one
of those guys who looks like a power back, but
he's actually can surn those legs a little bit. Gets
(02:20:27):
four yards on first down, second second and six for
Stout forty seconds to remain here in the third quarter.
Stout forty nine northwestern thirteen and it's been all second
team here in the second half of the Blue Devils
Sadean and the pistol has token him behind him. He
will roll to his right, looks downfield for Williams and
it's inner. No, it's incompletely should have been intercepted. He
(02:20:48):
telegraphed that one and jumping the route on the far
side was Alex Schultz and he should have picked it off.
He bobbled it and dropped it. Schultz bobbled it and
dropped it. Should have had the pick. The freshman corner,
backup corner. The need to third and six from the
(02:21:08):
forty four o'clock stopping on the incompletion. Twenty five seconds
left here in the third stout, leading twenty nine to
thirteen against Northwestern. Ten seconds on the Blake block two
receivers right one left side in the middle of the
hash mark winning the shotgun snap four with three, he'll
take the snap. Tokenen back there trying to block for him.
You gonnalaunch just one deep up from Maggot near side.
(02:21:29):
It's up and it's incomplete, and just didn't do enough
to fight for that one. It was good defense down
the air sideline by Clay Fee and one of those
where Maggott he needs to go high point that ball.
He got his arm kind of caught under Fee, and
I think he kind of wanted the flag instead of
wanted to go for it. He's got to get just
work his arms out of there, go up and get
that ball because it was thrown pretty well, gave him
(02:21:51):
a chance, just couldn't make it. So now I want
to attempt the punch will be prev and his ball's
at their own forty four. He's standing in his own thirty.
A little bit of wind, you can feel all of
a sudden up here as well as it's cooling off
in Saint Paul dropping down into the mid to high sixties.
Go to get this punt, Toway. It's a high snap.
He does get to it. There is the kick. It's
(02:22:13):
a wobbler. It's gonna bounce as well. Take a stout
bounce inside the fifteen, rolling inside the ten, and Preview's
gonna get away with that kind of weird punt down
near the seven yard line. Ends up being a forty
nine yard punt, beautifully done, and the Blue Devils back
up Northwestern inside their own ten, and we have hit
(02:22:36):
the zeros on the board. It is the end of
the third stout forty nine Northwestern thirteen, fourth quarter. It's
coming up right after this here on your home for
Blue Devil Football.
Speaker 6 (02:22:45):
From the creator of Bone Valley, comes a gripping new
true crime podcast, Graves County. In the small town of Mayfield, Kentucky,
the beloved fire chief's daughter is dead and everyone has
a theory but when a Pulitzer Prize win reporter starts digging,
the entire town goes dark.
Speaker 7 (02:23:03):
So it sounds like a lot of people have come
forward saying I know who did this, but no one
has said who did it?
Speaker 6 (02:23:09):
What is everyone so afraid of? Open the iHeartRadio app
search Graves County and listen.
Speaker 1 (02:23:15):
Now this is UW stout football on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (02:23:26):
Welcome back here to Northwestern the University of Northwestern. Start
the fourth quarter at south forty nine the Northwestern Eagles
third and scene as blue Devil's pinning at Northwestern back
he signed their own ten at the eight yard line. Officially,
handoff goes right side and not much maybe a yard
to the nine and that is back to Ashton Lofton.
(02:23:48):
The starting running back Dempco is still in the game.
Basil Deempko in this game for the Eagles is on
nine of fourteen passing for one hundred and fifty nine
yards to touchdowns. Again. Mosto's yardage yardage is two kind
of deep passes to his big receiver there and Brayden
Little the freshman, and the seventy five yard touchdown to
(02:24:09):
start the game, and then another big one later in
that third quarter, but outside of that, has not been
able to get much going down the field. Second and
nine from their nine as it's two receivers left, one right,
bad snap and they'll hand it off across the ten
to lofton a late handoff because of that bad snap
to Dempco as he had to go down at his ankles,
(02:24:30):
kind of down to his left to get it and
they had to reach out to the right to hand
it off on the right edge and often had to
wait a second. Couldn't get a full head of steam.
Only gets one yard to the right to the ten.
Speaker 14 (02:24:40):
Tackle by number ninety seven Michael Reynolds.
Speaker 3 (02:24:42):
Saint Reynolds got another tackle. Reynolds has been really good
freshman defensive lineman and I think he's going to be
an important piece this Blue Devil team when we get
into the WAC season. Depko taking his time to break
the huddle. Only ten seconds left on the play clock,
thirteen forty three left to go. Fourth quarter, stout forty
nine Northwestern thirteen. It's third and eight from their own
ten yard line. Need the eighteen to three receivers left,
(02:25:05):
one right, demp Go looking over the middle slant route
catch made zip arm given fifteen twenty and out of
bounds here the twenty three big hit put on as well,
pushing him out of bounds here on the near sideline
by Luke. Sure, nicely done by him, but it's a
number of first down to the twenty four a fourteen
yard game. All'er with the Almer with the reception on
(02:25:29):
the dig route across from right to left across the
formation of the near sideline and ah sure just give
him that big push out of bounds. Comes up to
the line thirteen oh eight left to go, fourth quarter,
forty nine to thirteen. Stout leads at two receivers, so
the right one to the left, demp Go in the
shotgun takes the snap. It's a four man rush the
(02:25:49):
blitz coming on and demp Go won't get away from it.
He's taken down. It'll be no gain on the play
chase down from behind by Dwight Kiffmeyern. It'll be no gain.
Second and ten coming up here for the Eagles. Dwight
Kimpmeyer on the tech job there about the Blue Devils
once again to get the stop sas in this game
(02:26:14):
for the Blue Devils, I thought I had right up
here here they are a total of three in the
contest for Stout. To your receivers right one, left, second
and ten. The handoff to Lofton, He's got a whole
left side, break some tackles thirty near side thirty five
and he falls down across the thirty five to thirty
(02:26:35):
six tackle will officially go to the Blue Devils. Kola
and that was Kelvinkla, the freshman from Rogers, Minnesota coming
into this game. Up for a first down though up
to the thirty six yard line on the scamper. Big
holes opening up in this second and third string defense
(02:26:56):
here for Stout, I'll bring in a new lineman as well,
Matt Larsen, freshman from Lakeville South. Two receivers right one left,
demp go back to pass looking keep him the middle
of nothing there he's hit that he's taken down back
in the thirty one yard line. Demp go taken down
for the sack.
Speaker 14 (02:27:16):
Dencombe was brought down by number ninety four.
Speaker 3 (02:27:18):
Seas we got to him there first. It's either Tyler
Hanson or Walker Yral think it was Tyler Hanson. That
was Tyler Hanson, not viral. Excuse me, Kip Myron and
we're there and then Farler man who was back in
there was a U. B. Badillo was the man in
the backfield as well, and it's a big loss. Back
to the thirty one yard line. Second and fifteen eleven
(02:27:39):
ten left to go. Fourth quarter, Stout forty nine Northwestern
thirteen second and fifteen from their own thirty one yard line.
Need the forty six for a first down. Two receivers
right nobody left handoff goes to Lofton up the gut,
pushes a pile, there's nothing there, pushing backwards. It's a
rugby scrum and the blue Devil's kind of win it
after a two yard game and there he was again.
They know you, babe, the right up the gut, pushing backwards.
(02:28:02):
Elk River, Minnesota man two yard gain on the place,
third and thirteen. Then try it again, you babe, ad
oh baby, the great tackle. They're gonna go actually a
third yard they're up to thirty four yard line, third
and twelve ten thirty to go in the fourth forty
nine to thirteen. Stout leads it. Two receivers for the right,
(02:28:23):
one to the left. Empco takes a snap. Here comes
the pressure again. Looks left the entire weights up an
it's almost intercepted. Good job jumping the route there by
our new coming defensive back Helvin Kolay, who almost had
the interception through his fingers. And it'll be fourth and
twelve and the putt unit out here for Northwestern once again.
Aaron Williams out to return the kick. Stout's got to
(02:28:48):
make a sub or two here, one to three, four, five, six. Yeah,
they've got everybody out there. That's eleven. You have to
count the returner as well. Hunt coming up for Schleiker.
He's been good today, standing in his own twenty. Aaron
Williams back to return and a chance for a block.
They didn't get there, and there'll be a penalty. I
(02:29:10):
think it'll just be running into it shouldn't be roughing.
I think that's Michael Reynolds. I don't think they'll give
that a fifteen yard penalty. Hunt was received at the
thirty four yard line, and because I think they're looking
at the sideline here and that means that it's only
going to be a five, not a roughing. It didn't
(02:29:30):
look that bad. He went for the block and then
he pulled up. Schniker's not happy about it, but whether
you want to rekick it or do you want to
add the five at the end of the reception. Thirty
three yard line is where Williams Fair caught it, and
we await the call and here it.
Speaker 13 (02:29:44):
Is putting into the kicker received.
Speaker 3 (02:29:52):
Trying to get the number. It was number ninety seven.
I can help you out, Michael Reynolds. That's what you're
looking for, ninety seven. Let's just go all right. They're
still talking about it, waiting efforting. What we what do
we say? Both teams are out there ready to go.
They're not even waiting for the officials to figure this out. Now,
(02:30:15):
they're not going to move the chains. Do they want
to rekick this? You mark him back that Stout's going
to start at their own twenty eight end of the.
Speaker 13 (02:30:23):
Kicker defense Number ninety seven at Pelly has declined first
down in Stout.
Speaker 3 (02:30:29):
Okay, tell you what it sounds to me like Matt
Papke might be a little sick. May give him some
some usin X and have him hydrate a little bit
after this, So the mark him back five to the well.
The thirty three is where he received it. You got
to go back to the twenty eight. Now what are
we doing here? Now? We're trading out to the game ball. Yeah,
(02:30:52):
just because the game's you know, forty nine to thirteen
doesn't mean we have to get we have to be
bad at doing this, all right. I guess we're gonna
go back to the thirty three or not going to
the twenty eight. So they don't actually mark the penalty
yard at joff at all, unless he received it at
thirty eight and I didn't realize it, which might be
the case. Here's the handoff. This is Zoe McDowell right side,
running well across the forty and take it down at
(02:31:14):
the morning two yard line. Kind of stayed on top
of a defender. It's a nine yard gain on first down.
So McDowell looking good. Shifty runner for the Blue Doubles,
five foot ten to two hundred pounds junior first Stout
So McDowell from a transfer from uw Osh Milwaukee, Wisconsin Ate.
Of course, Kobe Berghammer is the new quarterbacks coach this
(02:31:36):
second season, I should say as a quarterbacks coach for Stout.
He is the old Oshkosh quarterback who gave the Stout
Blue Doubles and pretty much the rest of the Wayak
fits as well as there's a great run by McDowell
up the gut. He's got the almost the fifty yard line,
just finding the hole, shifting around and just continues to
move forward. He turns all the way to the fifty
for an eight yard game in the first down for
the Blue Doubles forty nine to thirteen. Stout with the
(02:31:58):
lead nine to twenty to go. Kobe Berghammer. I think
it's gonna be a big piece of what Adam no
one can do. He's a big reason why Adam Mowents
had made such a big jump last season, and they'll
be the same this way as Luke Sadan getting some
good moments here at the quarterback spot. McDowell another handoff
and he'll get a couple here across the fifty to
(02:32:18):
the forty eight yard line. McDow stopped right up the middle.
Linnenburg with the stop as Northwestern empty there but a
bench a little bit during. Lindberg, who is from South
Dakota Rapid City. Christian is where he played his high
school ball, a out of you know Christian private schools.
Northwestern is a Evangelical Christian school here as well. He's
(02:32:42):
found it as a Bible school back in the late
eighteen hundreds and it's been around a long time and
now Evangelical Christian school. That's why I heard the prayer
before the game as well. McDowell the handoff up the
gut looking for a hole, now cuts it at the
forty five. Nice job balling up to the forty two.
He's getting a couple extra yards there. When it looked
like he was stopped at the forty five, he just
kind of leapt forward for another three and he's close
(02:33:05):
to the first down, two yards away from a third
and two. And like with the where you're at eight
ten left to go forty nine to thirteen stout stouts
content to just keep this ball on the ground. They've
got a few new receivers though into the game as well.
Speaker 14 (02:33:19):
From the eagle of forty two.
Speaker 3 (02:33:21):
Got Debian Parker who's out to the right side from
lou Island, Illinois, and the handoff will go to McDowell.
He's got the first down and more fights through the
first line of events across the forty, across the thirty five,
and down the thirty four yard line, and that is
another eight yard game for McDowell looking good as he
runs right through the defense. Northwestern other new receiver, Like
(02:33:43):
we said, Parker into the game along with Diego Solis
into the game for the Blue Devils as well. Solas
will be in the slot to the left and it
will be Parker. I don't wind to the left, so
least out to the slot and Parker out wide left.
(02:34:06):
McDonell the tailback and another handoff to him running left.
Got a big hole thirty twenty five farst I cut
the beautifully twenty others a flag ten five for the moment,
it's a touchdown Blue Devils, but this one looks like
it's coming back in a game all the way in
from the back judge, who's thirty yards away? Of course,
Holy cow, how far can you throw your flag? Here's
(02:34:29):
a call eighty six.
Speaker 13 (02:34:30):
It's a ten yard penalty from the spot of the foul.
First down.
Speaker 3 (02:34:34):
I just mentioned diegles so lease and what happens he
gets called for a holding penalty, And I don't know
if maybe the refs had a bet, have hey, at
some point you gotta throw your flag, my back judge, friend,
and see how far you can throw it? Because if
that was the case, that's what just happened there. They're
gonna market that I was from where the spot of
the foul, So this ends up making it first and twelve.
The hold was downfield, and they'll mark it all the
(02:34:57):
way back to the thirty six yard line. So the
lineus scrip was a thirty four, So make it first
and twelve here for stout with where they marked that
penalty off from. Would have been a touchdown for McDowell. Instead,
they're gonna have to go to the new tailback there
in Miles Burke. Sadeen the quarterback, and he'll hand off
to Burke. Burke up the gut, big hold again, thirty
(02:35:18):
twenty five, right up the gut down here the twenty
yard line, Miles Burke running it up to the twenty
one now holding this time fifteen yards and a first down.
Feels like you gotta get McDowell or Burke a touchdown
after those couple of runs, especially McDowell. Right Northwestern Lake
(02:35:39):
getting a player off. Two receivers to the right here
for the Blue Devils. Cayden Worth is also into the game,
the freshman from Wassau East in the slot out to
the right. The handoff goes up the middle. Another McDowell
run big time on the right side of the fifteen,
taking down at the fourteen yard line as he falls forward.
That's a seven yard gain stopped by Northwesterns Judah Johnson,
(02:36:03):
not before he gets a big time game to a
second and three, six twelve to go here in the
fourth forty nine thirteen stout with the lead over Northwestern,
it sounds like this is probably your last chance to
score a touchdown in this game with the way things
are moving. Also, Dawson Farrah into the game at receiver.
He's out wide right, Cayden Worth out wide left. It
is back again to Burke as the tailback and he'll
(02:36:26):
get the hand up. Pardon me, no, it's Rawls that
Ralstad left side, ten down to the five, gonna run.
Blue Devils continue churning. It is al Rawlstad, the sore
from Economawalk gets it all the way to the five
on the play and the Blue doubles at first and goal. Wallstad,
he's gotta be what they six seventh running back we've
seen in this game. Impressive what they have done, the
(02:36:50):
rotation they have had. Ralstad stays in there, one receiver left,
one right, and it is now also not Sedine anymore.
It is Jake Royce who's in the game for the
Bluot Devils at quarterback. Royce has Ralstad to his right,
hands it off to him. Rawstad of the five pushing
the pile near the end zone. I think he might
be a little short down to the one. Carry falls
(02:37:13):
down at the one yard line and it will be
second and goal from the one here for Stout and
that will take Rawlstad out. They're gonna put McDowell in him.
McDowell probably feels like he should have had the touchdown
earlier on the drive after that holding call. This might
be the raw Stad time. Royce is going two one.
I thought he was gonna go under center. He's in
(02:37:34):
the shotgut. He's got McDowell to his right. Four forty
to go Stout forty nine northwestern thirteen. There's the mcdonwaland
motion out to the right side. Keep it himself, Royce
up the gun, touchdown Lowdello's Jacob Royce keeps himself in
the am. Zoni goes. I think they got the play calling.
Zoe McDowell's said wait a minute, I want to run
this in and he said no, you got to go
(02:37:55):
in motion. I'm running it in and that's what he did.
Fifty five thirteen stut the lead. We're with four thirty
one to go. Harrison Jackman on to attempt the expert Royce.
We'll get the holding duties. Here is r p Adam
(02:38:16):
Owen may have already taken off the pads here tonight.
So Royce is onto a hold and here comes a
kick snap spot kick us up.
Speaker 8 (02:38:27):
Kick is good.
Speaker 3 (02:38:29):
Fifty six to thirteen Blue Devils lead and four we'll

Welcome back here to Northwestern, as the Blue Devils have
extended the lead fifty six to thirteen, the lead over
the Eagles of Northwestern four thirty one left to play
here in the game, Blue levels up to five hundred
and nineteen yards of total offense one hundred and ninety
two for Northwestern. A lot of that's coming the second half,
and we're Northwestern had under one hundred in that first
half as well. As there comes a run up and
(02:39:38):
the kick from Jackman on the far side, fair catch
called for and taken, and we'll bring it out to
the twenty five yard line and off we go Northwestern.
One more possession coming up. But it has been tough
slutting as the Blue Doubles have asserted their dominance here tonight.
And they've had all three quarterbacks in the game. They've
(02:39:59):
had a slew of running backs McDowell, Ross, Burke, Ralstad, Hughes,
Tolkienen six running backs by my account in this game tonight.
And the positive is is that everybody is healthy. The
only guy got hurt earlier in the game was Davin Goodman,
but he seemed to be fine later on in the
(02:40:20):
game as well. So think if everybody just gets out
of here healthy, You're all set. Good to go. Demco
with a handoff up the gut and he is wrapped
up in the backfield and pushed backwards. What a tackle there.
Handoff went to Marquez and Dwight Kiffmeyer has been great
in the second half. Get them for a loss of
one and the TFLs are going to tick up a
(02:40:41):
few ticks after this game. For the Blue Devils, they've
had a lot of tackings for losses, especially on these
runs right up the gut here filling it up beautifully
right up the middle. Four O five to go here
in the fourth fifty six thirteen stout again. A week
off next week, and then there were on ninety four
at Carson Parks. Should be a lot of fun in
a couple of weeks. Two receivers right, one left for
(02:41:03):
Dempco pistol formation with Marquez takes the snap. Marquez gets
the handoff, counters right to the twenty five trying to
break a tackle. He will pull some tacklers with m
across the thirty taken down at the thirty one yard line.
Stop made for stouts. Cam Peterson, the junior from transfer
from Bethel, Inn Minnesota, and Zeipen. Apparently I'm wrong on that,
(02:41:34):
so they gave the tackle to a couple other guys
as well, regardless who doubles will line up for a
third and four Here from the thirty one yard line
four Northwestern two receivers left, one with the right Dempco
in the shotgun again and again he has Marquez as
his tailback in the pistol three h seven Ago fifty
six to thirteen. Stout leaves the handoff. No, he keeps
(02:41:54):
it himself running left. Got the first down of more
thirty five and then a slide down again, a late slide,
a good job avoiding the hit there by Nathan Soldier,
who's the closest one there, the freshman from cold Spring, Minnesota,
forced out since some new safeties. He's one of them
as well. Soldering, along with Cam Peterson who we mentioned
(02:42:15):
a moment ago, also first out again. Adrian Moyo is
in as one of the corners, along with Calvin Kolay
in the secondary. First and ten from the thirty six
here for Northwestern, two receivers right, one left on the
near hash mark. Right to left they go. Deko takes
(02:42:36):
the snaphands off to the right. Marquez trying to bounce it.
Nothing there, gets hit, gets ripped down right at the
line of scrimmage, nothing else. Thirty six yard line and
nothing else. Blue Devils stepping up to make them play
number six Isaiah thirty six excuse me? Isaiah Ziren goes
(02:42:56):
into the game here for the Blue Devils. Before we
get a whistle, it is a two minute timeout. Fifty
six thirteen. Stout leads zero over Northwestern. Our final timeout
before the end of this game will take it. Right
after this, we'll be back here on your home for
Blue double football.

Speaker 3 (02:43:52):
Welcome back here to the University of Northwestern and Northern St.
Paul north St. Paul Roseville. If you want the suburb,
it's ay fifty six to thirteen lead for Stout. It
has been all blue leuvils. Of course, they led big
at halftime, forty two to seven, and it's been second teamers,
third teamers in all second half. Couple touchdowns for them
(02:44:14):
as well, which is pretty nice for what Stout has
done here today. Depko with the handoff right side, nothing
doing it. What a a job of the penetration Jacob
Didle and the whole Deetle plan, and he's gonna let
you hear its thirty fourty yard line, a stop of
a couple and it'll be third and twelve coming up
here for Northwestern One love to play.
Speaker 14 (02:44:40):
Loss of one third down.
Speaker 3 (02:44:43):
They're gonna have to run a couple more plays here
and see how it works, whether they punt or not,
and they might just run a play on fourth and
assuming Soount's gonna take a knee when they get it back.
If they don't get the conversion, hey got a chance
around third, third and twelve off up the gut right side,
and there'll be a stop after about a two to
(02:45:04):
three yard game for a kicking Stargeant and we'll bring
up fourth to nine punt unit is out. Yeah, they'll
be about thirty seconds left. When you know in the
thirty five second left range when you take this snap,
if you let the clock tick now and it's not
just kind of up to how Northwestern wants to play
it here, Williams is back to return Stout. All they're
(02:45:27):
gonna have to do after this punt just take one
knee and this game is over. Fifty six thirteen Stout
with the lead. Tonight another late substitution. This will seem
to be okay with that happening, I'm not gonna stop
anybody from taking the kick. Schleiker Hi snap, he gets it,
and he gets it away. Williams will fair catch at
(02:45:48):
the twenty five twenty five seconds remain and we'll get
one knee and this ball game will be over. So
the Blue Devil's gonna come away with a two to
one record in the non conference. They are only lost
to a top ten in the nation team in Wartburg
sixteen to nothing game that the offense didn't do much in,
but the defense played pretty well. And so a lot
of great things to take into the WIAC season. And
(02:46:13):
you get to start it against your rival in o'claire.
Coming into the season, you probably feel like you should
beat but o'claire's three to zero, I think much more improved.
We say it a lot often in years, and maybe
sometimes we say it to I don't know, to be
kind or whatever, but I don't think we're doing it
this year. I really do think o'claire has improved a lot.
New quarterback and new system that they've gone in place,
(02:46:35):
and would not be surprised if you see a very
competitive game at Carson Park as well. Handoff goes up
the middle and that will take us. So McDowell, we'll
get the final carry of the game and that will
do it here tonight fifty six to thirteen. Stout with
the win. Will they get two minute time out? Come
back with our post game show, will hopefully have goat
Birmingham on the air with us as well. That's all
(02:46:56):
coming up right after this the end of the game.

Speaker 3 (02:49:25):
Welcome back here to Northwestern, the University of Northwestern and
North Saint Paul, Minnesota. Big win for the Blue Devils
date fifty six or thirteen over Northwestern. They're upset about
it enough that they've already turned the scoreboard off here.
That's at Reynolds Field. So nonetheless, we hope to have
a coach Birmingham on our post game show. He's finishing
up his talk with his players here after the game.
(02:49:46):
A very convincing win for the Blue Doubles eight gain
five hundred and twenty one yards today, two hundred and
four yards gained by Northwestern that they give up, and
only thirty one yards on the ground today for the
Eagles as well. Devil's get one hundred and eighty eight
yards on the ground through the air, the Blue Devils
get three hundred and thirty three yards one hundred and
seventy three for Northwestern individually the Blue Devils. A couple
(02:50:11):
of other team stats as well, twenty seven first downs
for Stout, nine for Northwestern as well, and so just
so dominant performance all the way around, as we kind
of expected coming into this game. Adam Muhen won a
game for him in the first half twenty three of
twenty seven with three touchdowns two hundred and seventy two
yards for him Luke Sadeen six of twelve in the
(02:50:34):
game and for Luke Sdeen with that six to twelve
mark sixty one yards, also gets himself a touchdown as well,
which was a nice moment for him there for in
the Blue Devil uniform at quarterback as well. So those
are his numbers. Stout rushing eighty two yards for Zie mcdowale,
most of those in the second half. SA Chandler Ross
only rushed for twenty five yards but two touchdowns. They
(02:50:56):
used him when he got close to the end zone
and it worked out very well for him, and again
I think kept him healthy right, kept him there because
Chandler Ross. I mean, again, there's some good running backs
on the scene, but for me, he's been the most
impressive so far. Will he be able to keep healthy
and keep rolling once we get to conference play, That'll
be the question, I think. For the Blue Devils, Adam
(02:51:16):
Ohen ran it in from six yards out and twenty
three yards rushing in the game. Burke had twenty two
yards rushing Carter thirteen, Wallstann thirteen, Hughes seven, Tolkien and
three and Royce with that one yard touchdown run when
he came in as the third quarterback in the game.
Fir Stout as well. Receiving wise with the Blue Devils
one hundred and seven yards and two touchdowns for Devonte Evans,
sixty five yards receiving for McCabe, Devorax, sixty two for
(02:51:39):
Avron Carter, thirty six yards receiving for Jojo James twenty
four on a screen pass have been tolkienen so he
gets some yard of Jarre. Maggott had a his first
touchdown keyon Maggot with the twenty three yards on three
receptions for him and a touchdown. McDowell with six yards receiving,
Hughes with five yards receiving, and then Cole filland a
touchdown as well. Backup tight end for this Blue Devil
(02:52:01):
team had that three hour touchdown reception in the first
half as well for the Blue Devils, So those are
your stats as well. It was a good day for
Blue Devil athletics in general. The men's cross country team
took fifth of fourteen at the Saint Oloff Invitational. The
women's team there took seventh of fifteen in that spot.
Women's volleyball won three zip over Concordia, Minnesota up in
(02:52:26):
Superior at a matchup there. Men's soccer did lose to
Central College one to nothing in Nelson Field earlier today
and then the win for football tonight. Plenty of games
come up. Even though there's no football coming up, there
is plenty of matchups coming up for Blue Devils sports
next weekend. Make sure you go and check out everybody
who is competing. Women's volleyball has got some matchups there
(02:52:48):
that will be at Williams Field House on Saturday next week,
So plenty of chances to catch the Blue Devils and
see them in other sports as well. And then we
are after it on oct fifth, that is when this
football team is back in action taking on UWA Claire
in the War odd ninety four and again Stout's got
a long streak. Can they keep it going? Can they
(02:53:09):
can keep the trophy? That is the question I have
been told. And again we'll talk more about this next
week or in a couple of weeks that there has
been some talk from the Blue Gold Athletic department about
finding out how big the trophy is for a new
trophy case over in the Son and Tag Center that
they want to build. And they've been asking about how
big it is because they don't know how big it
is because they haven't seen it in a while. And
(02:53:29):
so there was that ask and I'm sure that's going
to provide a little extra motivation for this football team,
knowing that they're trying to build a trophy case for
that trophy as well over at the Son and Tag Center.
So it's all in good fun and I think it
should be some fun as well to see what happens
between these two teams as well in Oaklaire and Stout
In a couple of weeks again in football, the WYAC
(02:53:53):
had a great day. Whitewater beat Mary Harden Baylor in
a Top twenty five matchup twenty six to six. There,
Platt Bill defeated Spring Springfield twenty six or twenty eight,
excuse me to twelve. Lacrosse beat Division two's Wayne State
thirty one to twenty two in their matchup today, Euclaire
winning forty two to six over Martin Luther River falls
(02:54:13):
all over Bellhaven's sixty five to nothing Oshkosh were winners
thirty eight to twenty one over Roosevelt, the Blue Devils
winners fifty six to thirteen year over Northwestern, Stevens Point
and Pacific. The video stream is behind a paywall, but
you can watch the stats at that game out in Oregon,
and that game just got under way about thirty four
(02:54:34):
minutes ago, so you can check out the stat broadcasts
and more if it's working, which it doesn't seem to
working either. So we'll see if Steven's Point can make
it an eight and o day for the yak Man.
What an off seat or what a non conference season
the WAYAK has If at the end of the day,
if you don't think at the end of today, rather
if you don't think the Wayak's best conference in Division
II football, then there's something wrong with you. And you
(02:54:56):
don't like numbers, because the numbers, I'm sure bear that
out as well. Well. I thought I saw coach Birmingham
making his way this way, but I don't see him
now and I've lost sight of him, which might mean
that he's forgotten that I'm here, which I guess happens.
I mean, you know a lot of people forget that
I'm around sometimes there he is. Burm's going through the
(02:55:16):
through the handshake line, seeing all the guys there. I
asked some of the assistant coaches to make sure that
they sent him up here as well. I see him
looking around. Maybe I can wave him down and have
him come up here. It's pretty noisy down there, as
you can tell. And if I can just get him
to glance up to the press box. Nope, I don't
(02:55:37):
think I will. He's joking around with some players and
whatnot as well. This is about the time where I
think the alarm bells go off and Burhm's headen says
it's Pete here. It's Pete up there. Can I go
up and talk to him? Maybe? Maybe not. He's not talking, tonybody.
He's just rambling around, just looking at people. All right,
we'll stop doing play by play on Coach Burm and
be done with it, so we'll have plenty of chance
(02:55:57):
of talking to him before the Oaklayer game about how
good of a game this was and how it kind
of builds for next next game as well. Oh special thanks.
