Speaker 1 (00:00):
Radiothon for Helen of US Children's Hospital is in You're
twenty six and it's on Star one of five point
seven and B ninety three. So there are a lot
of big sponsors, celebrities roaming the halls and we're just
cherry picking this morning. Matt Cook is back in studio,
vice president of Community Relations at Lake Michigan Credit Union. Matt,
(00:21):
thanks for swinging.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
By, of course, good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Thanks for saying yes and talk to us a little
bit about it as a company. I know you have
a personal connection too, but Lake Michigan Credit Union has
said yes to be a big sponsor. I think there's
a match going on right now on Star one oh
five point seven, why the radiothon.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yeah, So we are so blessed in this community to
Helen of US Children's Hospital here. You know, we talk
about it every year, but to think about that anyone
in this community that has a child that has a need.
You know, doctor Founer is guest hosting with Schmidty right
now and he was sharing about, you know, the advantages
of a pediatric only emergency department and think about the
(01:00):
blessing of that of not having a child that's in
need have to sit in the regular ede, but they're
able to sit in a pediatric emergency department and get
the care they need, have access to child life specialists.
Part of this we were talking about we need more
child life specialists. But I think for us at LMCU,
we recognize that need. We recognize all the amazing heroes
(01:22):
that are working every day at the children's hospital making
sure that the outcomes are different for those kids in
our community. And so it's really important to us at
LMCU to continue to support that.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I'm lucky enough to work with Matt, as I've talked
about before in the radio, and you know this Steve
and different things, and he's so inspiring along with the
other crew because they go out of their way and
we have a lot of companies like that here that
make it special. But Matt will be the first to
tell you always looking for what is that relationship and
then what is the opportunity with that to help for
(01:52):
the community. And so talk about that a little bit, Matt,
because I know you enjoy that part of your job.
But boy, it's expanded quite a bit in the last
like ten years, and there's a lot of good things
going on in West Michigan.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
There are and I think this is you know, on
a morning like today, where we get to think about
how do we come together. West Michigan is so unique.
You know, we have offices across the state of Michigan,
also in Florida. But one of the things that is
really unique about this community that we live, and you
guys are a part of that too, is just how
we're able to come together in a moment like today.
(02:23):
I mean when we at seven o'clock when this radio
fun ends and there's a celebration for the money that's raised.
That's all money that is not going to be reimbursed
by insurance, and all of the listeners are the ones
in organizations too, are the ones that are making that possible.
And there are things like that happening across this community,
not just today, but every day throughout the entire year.
(02:45):
And I think that's the fulfilling part for me and
for our organization. But I also, you know, I think
take pride as West Michigan residents and what that means
for us to make a difference and to care about
our fellow community members that are in need, and how
do we come together to take care of.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
