Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, we got it on USA Network, the Ryder Cup
best page, black mind, gosh this competition. Terry Moore as
a member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame, and
Terry Joyce is on the liveline talk about the Ryder
Cup today. Terry, thanks for doing this today.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Oh you got it is easy. You know. This Ryder
Cup is so special for me and I think most
golfers won. It's it's international team competition. It's the closest
thing you get to the Olympics outside of the Olympics.
Olympics has individual competition, basically has team competition, and so
you get the flags, you get the chance, you get
all the colors of the red, right and blue channing

(00:40):
USA versus Europe. That's one thing. Number Two, I love
it because it's match play. The tourst normally played metal play,
which is counting every stroke, but in match play it's
hole by hole, so there's a mono demano. There's a
US versus them in the matches. That's very important. And

(01:01):
I love it because every match equals one point. In
a regular tournament. Stephen Brett, you may follow somebody and
they may not even make the cut, so you're saying, well,
I kind of wasted my time watching that player. But
in the match play, every point, every match is consequential,
so you can never go wrong. You may see a
match be a blowout, it may win seven and six,

(01:23):
but it contributes to one point and if at one
point means fourteen and a half on Sunday afternoon, then
that was a deciding match for the Ryder Cup. It
is also very competitive now that the Euros are involved
since nineteen seventy nine. It's using very close.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
We've got it on the monitor and we just saw
Bryce and De Shamba and Justin Thomas walk out with
the American flag and the place is going nuts. As
you know, Best Page Black is an awesome venue for
this New York city. It's going to be raucus. I
will say this, Terry. The forty fifth Ryder Cup isn't
going to disappoint either with how the European team and
their young players have kind of stacked up as well.

(02:02):
Plus you throw in the PGA Tour versus live golf
that's going on. I mean, look at that first group,
Bryson De Shamble, live golf golfer, Justin Thomas PGA Tour
John rob Live Golf Ty Hatton. It's going to be
interesting because they've got to work that out amongst themselves.
But then you also have you know, Team Europe with
guys like Ludwerg Al Olberg. I've been practicing all morning.

(02:24):
I mean, they really are a deep squad this year.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Well you're right there, Brett. And also the other thing
is that in the first time in Ryder Cup we
have a team. The European teams have all but one
player is returning from last time in Rome. That's unprecedent,
so they have experience on their side. We have four
rookies and they've never played in the Ryder Cup, and
most observers and players will say there's no pressure like

(02:51):
the Ryder Cup, not only because of the fans, but
you're playing for your team. So if you let yourself
down in a regular tournament, it's just you your family,
but in the Ryder Cup, you're letting down your team,
in incense, your country for the tremendous pressure. So having
four rookies who are untested, this experience it's got playing

(03:11):
in your first Masters it's a different experience.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
What do you think of these early matchups? I mean,
for the fans way to get everyone's attention early Friday morning.
I mean guys like Scotti Scheffler going off, Rory McElroy's
teamed up with Tommy Fleetwood. Has there been a hotter
golfer than Tommy Fleetwood towards the end of the PGA Tour.
I mean, this is going to be a lot of
fun and there's going to be I think great ratings
this morning already.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I love the fact that Keegan Bradley and his co
captain's decided to go with bryceon d Chambeau, who seems
to embrace these big moments. You know, he's a guy
that eggs the fans on to support him. He doesn't
need quiet on the first te he'll rip it. So
it's very good. And Carol Hatton and Ram are proven

(03:56):
Ryder Cup players. I loved Haddon because he's he always
gets mad at any petty misses. Yeah, it's terrific. It's
and having chef with the best player in the world
being number two. But you know, when you look at it,
you can be the best player like Tiger Woods, but
you don't always necessarily play well in a team format.
And again, the Euros are more custom to playing team golf.

(04:20):
Their chemistry is usually better than the United States. The
one thing we've got on our side is being at home.
It's very difficult to win someplace in America, particularly at
Long Island. On Best Page. It's a big tall order.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Terry Moore our go to when it comes to the
big golf events. Member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.
Great stuff man.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Thanks go USA, take care of guys.
