Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tanya J. Power is still on the job though, with
Fox News Radio in New York. Tanya, thanks for doing
this today so we might set another new record. Talk
to us about how many of us will be hitting
the roads and trains and planes all this this week,
all of us, all of us.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
That's what it's what it boils down to, is just
we're all going to be going somewhere. According to Triple A,
about one hundred and twenty two million of us are
going to travel this holiday period between you know now
and you know right after the first of the year.
We're thick of things now. About one hundred and nine
million of us are going by car, that's of about
(00:39):
two percent from last year. About eight million by plane,
which is also about of about two percent. One of
the other numbers that I found quite interesting in all
of this because they, you know, they crunch the numbers,
and I kind of I kind of love going through
all these and sort of looking around and see what's
going on other modes of travel. That is about four
point nine million of us that's bus trained cruise that
(01:04):
is up nine percent from last year. There's apparently a
lot more of us who are taking cruises now and
evidently that's one of the reasons that that number is growing.
Triple A says that as far as the cruise category, well,
the other mode of travel category that has seen a
twenty five percent increase since twenty nineteen. Apparently there's been
(01:26):
a lot of demand for cruise's post pandemic, so over
the last five years that that category of going with
by other means has has really jumped up.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
So, Tanya, I drove over to the Lions game in
Detroit and came back last night, and I wanted to
share this news. Then we had a story about it locally.
But you know this to be true nashally as well.
Gas prices are going down and it looks good for
going into the start of twenty twenty six. I mean,
we were traditionally always over three dollars. I paid two
forty three in Lancing yesterday. I was, yeah, I know, so,
(01:59):
I mean already happy about that. But thus, I think
a lot of people are traveling more by car.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
To your point, yeah, I think that's got something to
do with it. I mean, we did, I know, we
got below two. I mean we got below three dollars
a gallon for the national average at some point earlier
this month, and that was that was pretty huge for
the national average to be, you know, below three dollars
a gallon is great. I can't believe you payed two
forty three. That is stunning.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Holy did you fill your pockets? I mean, my I
always thinking of you, Steve Kelly.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
I was like, do we have any extra containers in
the back for Steve?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Not Lord, I had no idea I might even road
trip for that.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
I know it, I know it.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
I need to top off the generator. So any glitches problems.
I mean, we've appeared the TSA fully staffed. Are we
ready for this?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Goodness? I hope so, because it is going to be,
you know, one of those kind of things where, uh,
let's just hope the weather cooperates and there's not a
lot of you know, snarls traffic and you know weights
and cancel flights and things like that. That just adds
to it. I will say that same thing I say
every single time I do one of these stories about travel.
(03:13):
Don't forget even if you fly a good bit, check
the TSA's website or their apps. They have an app
to make sure you have what you can and can't
bring with you. If you don't fly very often, or
if you're flying with people who don't fly very often,
maybe you've got to bring you know, the kids and
the stroller and all the things this time when you
normally may may not, you know, have to do that
(03:34):
double check and make sure that you have you know
the correct stuff in you know, the carry on and
you haven't got something in there that you probably needed
to check. It takes a lot more time at the
TSA than you might think. The other thing that I
will also remind you of, if you're deciding to take
your weapon with you, absolutely check the TSA's site as
(03:59):
to how you're going to have to do that. You're
gonna have to check it a weapon and a carry
on is not a thing, uh not from the TSA anyway.
And never check anything that's loaded, obviously, but take a
look at that and make sure that you're in the
guidelines there. Otherwise you may not be getting on your
plane after all. And there it is.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Tanya Jay Powers with Fox News Radio in New York.
Merry Christmas, just in case we don't talk to you
no more.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Absolutely, absolutely Merry Christmas.
