Speaker 2 (00:13):
You didn't even have to set an alarm for me,
even though it was late night last day for high
school football. I've been waiting for this first Football Friday
for the guy sitting next to me because we start
with Michigan State in Western Michigan. Talk about torn in
the Halleck family. Seven o'clock FS one, Spartan State. It's
going to be an unbelieable atmosphere, fireworks and everything. They're
really pushing the game day atmosphere in Michigan State. I
(00:33):
think it's gonna be a sellout crowd. But times we
look at this game, tell us any intel you have
from your son Tato is starting safety for Western Michigan.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Well, there's a lot of conflict, right, I mean, at
the end of the day, when you're born and raised
a Spartan, you got a degree for Michigan State. Now
you got a master's from Western and you got to
go in and play. And as I think he articulated
in an article this week, I mean it's he can't
wait to go back and play at Spartan Stadium. It's
a place he loved to play in that place, he's
loved to watch a lot of football games. But he's
(01:03):
gonna run out of a tunnel and run to the left,
and he's he's you know, he's excited about that, and
he's all in Broncos And at the end of the day,
he's gonna go out and try to do everything he
can to help a team win. But you know, to me,
I think it's going to be an exciting night, and
I think it's going to be as equal as to
support my son. And certainly where my Western gear and
my season tickets, which is kind of weird. I'm excited
(01:26):
to find out what what's Michigan State going to be
all about? Right? What is aident? Child's gonna not have
the turnover bug? This slew of receivers, how well are
they gonna do? How is Jordan Hall in the defense
gonna show up and look? So certainly it's Western Michigan.
They'll have a particular thought to that. I'm sure in
their locker room. But you know Western's gonna come in here.
Lance Taylor's got these guys fired up, and I think
(01:48):
it's a fun in state game. At the end of
the day, these games are great to have in state
to allow fan bases to be able to go. And
there'll be plenty of people at our tailgate, both Western
and Michigan's. Accordingly, this is just one of those never
say never moments, right you just I would never in
my life think I would walk in and wear a
(02:08):
different jersey in Spartan Stadium, But you know, I love
my son and we're going to be fired up to
see what the Broncos can.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Do for you, and he's going to be busy tonight.
That secondary. That's one of the matchups to watch Tate
and the rest of the Broncos because Aiden Childs expected
to throw the football a lot and the wide receiver
room very deep led by Nick Marsh, so keep an
eye on that and also old Mari Kelly, who came
over from Middle Tennessee State for Michigan State. Also Western
going dual quarterbacks here, so we'll see how that works
(02:36):
offensively for coach Taylor. Let's move to Michigan now, fourteenth
rank Wolverines hosting New Mexico in their opener tomorrow night,
seven point thirty on NBC six thirty starts the pregame
coverage here on Wood Radio. And of course, you know
what everyone's talking about the debut of talented freshman Bryce Underwood.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah, that'll be the whole story. What does he look
like in the pocket? How does he throw the ball
down the field? When he runs with the football, should
he get out of the pocket, what's that gonna look like?
It's a new dynamic. I mean, this guy obviously was
a top recruit, was gonna have to LSU. Michigan grabs him,
and it's been all about him and setting up the offense,
which still gonna run the football, there's no doubt. I mean,
(03:13):
they have great running backs, they've got a good offensive line.
It's how does he operate efficiently and show flashes of
the great player that everybody believes he isn't as gonna
be as he develops.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah, and he can spin it. I've seen him in
person when he was at Belleville and scrimmages and stuff,
and he can throw it all over a lot. He's
got the strong arm, he's got the ability. It's how
quickly he can adjust because a lot of pressure is
gonna be putting on. I mean they're at Oklahoma next week.
That's not gonna be easy, so this will be I
think a great debut is time mentioned for Bryce Underwards
and that defense, let's not forget. I mean, they have
(03:47):
so many guys that were just stacked up and they
get a chance to play that now it's their time,
and I think their defense will help lead the way
and they're gonna need that against the team like the
Sooners in Week two. And then finally the biggest game
of the weekend, no doubt about it, it's Lee Corso
send off for College game Day, his final appearance. But
noon Fox seventeen eleven the coverage tomorrow number one Texas
(04:09):
at number three Ohio State, and they're both debuting new
quarterbacks Julian sand the quarterback out of California for the
Buck guys. And of course now it's arch Manning's time
for Texas.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah, and I think that's where Texas has the edge
just because arch Manning has been playing some you know,
Sayan hasn't. I mean, I think he has like twelve
opportunities he's throwing the football Ohio State, though it's at home,
you know, down on the shoe, going to be a
great atmosphere. This is where Texas earns, where I think
everybody thinks Texas is towards the top of the country.
(04:42):
But it will be all about manning his arm, his
ability to run that offense and then defensively, how Texas
can stop saying from throwing the ball down to Jeremiah Smith,
who's a phenomenal rule man.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Great to see again, brother, Well done, as always.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Enjoy the game tonight.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
By the way too.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
