Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is West Michigan's Morning News. Steve, Kelly Brett, Mekeita,
Lawrence Smith. Let's talk a little bit about reaction to
those drug boats being visibly blown up. You're seeing that
video on television. Here's Senator Lindsey Graham on it.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Caliphate in our backyard. Columbia, Venezuela, and Cuba are all
countries that have allowed drug cartales to operate with impunity
make money off poisoning America, and these countries should be
on notice.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Well, there's a deterrent, right, Senator Lindsey Graham. Ryan Schmel's
FOTX News Radio I in Washington, d C. A lot
going on, Ryan, Thanks for doing this today.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Of course, good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Let's talk a little bit about reaction. There is some
bipartisan approval of what's going on, but I guess folks
are worried about if it's legal or not. That's kind
of a big deal.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah, and I'd say there's bipartisan approval. There's also some
bipartisan criticism, maybe not extensive on the Republican side, but
you have Senator Ran Paul of Kentucky saying that he
would like to get some more information about this and
that they're not getting enough information from from the Trump administration,
and that you know, there are some serious legal questions

(01:11):
that he has about this. But I would say for
the most part, Republicans are very much in support of
of of what President Trump is doing here. You know,
they feel that this is a true deterrence from what
you've seen before, and this is really sending a message
to the cartels. And remember the trumpdministration did designate cartels

(01:33):
as pair organizations, so that gives them a little bit
more legal authority to use deadly force than otherwise they've
had in previous previous administrations. Now, of course there is
the question of you know, are they what's the evidence
that they're using to identify these as drug votes. Democrats
say that they would like to get some more information

(01:54):
that they're not getting read in enough on this, whereas
Republicans say that they were briefed by Karubio, the Secretary
of State, not too long ago, and they were pretty
satisfied with the evidence that he presented for how they're
determining these are actually cartel boats and officially trafficking drugs.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
We all know somebody, right, beautiful young man down the
street who died when our kids were in high school.
Granted he made some bad decisions. He's in a high
school kid. You got a hold of something that was
laced with something deadly. Something needs to be done.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Ryan, Oh yeah, well, especially with the fentanyl issue. I mean,
you could be a perfectly healthy person and you just
try some try the wrong thing one time, or even
I mean sometimes the stuff gets laced into stuff. It's
not even you know, a drug you know, and and
and it can lead to an accidental overdose. It's it
Sentinel's become a true, true problem that impacts everywhere. And

(02:46):
I was just at a shatterproof walk and that's long ago,
but my two cousins who died from overdoses, So I
mean yeah, I mean it's become an epidemic in this country.
And some of these narco terror organizations are one of
the big main cults for why and.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
As Ryan Schmell's Fox News Radio in Washington, d C.
Thanks for your time this morning.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Of course, thank you.
