Speaker 2 (00:15):
All right, let's dive right in. We've got Michigan, Oklahoma,
Michigan State, Boston College, Lions, Green Bait. What a lineup
for matchups this weekend to enjoy, no matter what your
fandom is. And Ty, let's start with number fifteen Michigan
on the road Week two at number eighteen Oklahoma. They
are five and a half point underdog. Some people are
shocked about that. Steve's just shocked that they're playing away
(00:37):
from the Big House, but they are. And this will
be ABC Primetime tomorrow night. I look at week one
and I have some questions more about Michigan's defense. I
thought Bryce Underwood played well, especially as a true freshman.
Really impressed with Justice Haynes at running back, But defensively
there was some question marks, I guess more than I thought.
Against New Mexico.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah, I think that not as much of punching the
mouth as you'd expect from tough Michigan defense. And at
the end of the day, you know, coaches talk about this.
So you're on the road, number one, you're a You're
a five point underdog. So there's great. That's a great
way to travel to feel like you've been slighted, right,
certainly if you're Michigan. I mean that much of an
(01:17):
underdog to me seems a little crazy too, particularly when
you look at the rankings. But Cher Moore's got plenty
of things to motivate these guys, and quite frankly, like
all the other coaches in the country, everybody looks for
a big push from week one to week two. You know,
you got out, you got it over with, you got
that first game in, got out some of the you know,
kinks and whatnot. So can that defense that you just
(01:42):
mentioned really up rampant against a very good offensive team
with material quarterback coming from Washington State with his offensive
coordinator our buckle and then you know, offensively, can although
he played really well, did Bryce Underwood? Can he do
that against elevated competition out in Norman, Oklahoma and carry
(02:03):
the load if you will? Because everybody knows Brent Vinnables
always typically has pretty good defenses, and I guarantee he's
got some kind of a scheme or ghost scenario where
he's gonna be shadowing Underwood, etc. So this should be
a very interesting game, but a good test for Michigan
to show either one of the top teams in the country.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah, the winner of this game is a statement game
for them going into eventual conference play, because I think
both of them are considered, you know, in the mix,
maybe in the Big ten and Big twelve, respectively, but
not necessarily the favorites. We'll see what happens. Six thirty
pre game coverach here on Wood Radio. All right, let's
move to Boston College at Michigan State seven thirty, same time,
but on NBC would TV eight locally six o'clock with
(02:44):
a pregame coverage from Spartan Stadium. Over on Big one
to one point three FM. Your assessment of Michigan State.
They're now just a three and a half point favorite
in this one. Twenty three to nineteen a year ago
in that rainstorm, really a game they should have won.
And I'm happy because I saw him last week win
for Florida State. Tommy Costiana very good capable running quarterback
as well as throwing. Now transferred out of Boston College
(03:05):
to Florida State.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah, he's gone, and you got Dylan Lonergan who's a
younger quarterback. But they still have Lewis Bond, who was
the guy who caught that game winning touchdown. That's going
to put the Dart in it. You know, he had
eleven catches for one hundred and thirty eight yards last year.
He had six for one hundred and two and a
t d last year against US along with the running
back by the name of Turbo Richard, So get ready
(03:28):
old Turbo. Yeah, it sounds like he's a speedy one.
But I think you know, the defense led by Jordan Hall,
you know, connecting again the front line to the back
of the d If they do that, propelling from week
one to week two, and then if we just get
Aiden Childs settled down a little bit delivering the football.
I think Nick Marsh has to be a big factor
(03:50):
in this game, and they've got to figure out ways.
Whether they put him on outside, inside slot, I don't care,
but getting Nick March the ball. He is a definite playmaker.
You could see it last week at the game. He
needs to be involved more if Michigan State wants to
win ball games.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Really impressed with the Spartans defense, and they did pitch
a shutout even though this kid named Tate Halleck had
that pick six for Western late in the game. Also,
we've got green Bay and the Lions. Lions open up
a lambeau Field. I know you love that place, but
this is not going to be an easy place to play.
And everyone talking about will Micah Parson's playing this game.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Yeah, and I think he probably does. I mean, I'd
be shocked if they traded for him and he doesn't
come in and start to make an impact, especially an
in conference deal right out of the gates. Quite frankly,
I agree with a lot of the national commentary, which
is this will set the tone right for this season.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
This is a time NFC nord championship play.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
And I think Dan Campbell too, when you talk about
feeling slighted and whatnot. He's got a lot of motivation
to give to his guys. A lot of talk about
Green Bay and not as much about the Detroit Lions, who,
quite frankly just return everybody. You just didn't see him
in the preseason. So this should be a very exciting game.
